Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome in everybody to another episode.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Of the Right Stuff, A blood of a podcast are
brought to you by Empire Games coming out.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Of sometimes Lovely, always pitch clearing inners in South Carolina.
I am getting here with Nathan and.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
We've got a little of games to talk about this week.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah, this is a little baby episode. So it's cute
out there rolling around and it's strike just kind of
wheeling around, just toddling about.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, propeller hat, giant lollipop, all that fun. So very
adorable baby episode.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
We are winding down on this season, so we're running
out of games that we can possibly speak about.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
There's only two left, yeah, in fact.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Yeah, and to get those two games left, we have
three games to.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Talk about, a couple of the bracket semi finals and.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Then one of the bracket finals.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
And I guess we could just jump in to the
Bracket A semi finals, which was Slaarhouse eleven and the
Nacamaic State Hellhounds.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Your game.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Yeah, yeah, two of the games are mine spoilers, I guess.
But this was a hotly anticipated game on my side
because we played during the regular season and we both
we had a tie and I felt like I was
getting the edge in that game. I felt like my
(01:41):
team had a slight edge going into the game.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Just in general.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
I think at the first time we played, I put
like five casualties on his team. Not granted some of
those were lucky, but he did also like take my
blood spawn out of the equation early in the first
time soon, So I was not eager to duplicate that again.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
And so.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
What I felt was the best course of action was
to actually kick to him. The first time I played,
I opted to receive to see what kind of damage
I could do to his team, and I actually think
that's kind of a fallacy versus.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Undead right damage.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Damaging in quotation marks an undead team through rid generation.
It's not necessarily easy to do, and you're relying on
your opponent to get unlucky for the stuff that you
do to them to stick. So another reason to kick
(02:47):
to him is that this would actually be the first time,
Like he's going to put his four strength google on
the pitch on the first drive, he might not put
his four strength goul on the pitch if he's defending right.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
He may not want to give the chance to blitz it,
And so yeah, I was.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
I was gunning for some damage. And I know people
looking at tour play were probably scratching their head because
there were like no updates in this game for like
an hour.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, definitely was not me. Definitely not. I've put on
the record, I was not confused.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, so he I wanted to go in the game
with at least fourteen players in case I lost some
and he was getting enough money for Luther. Now, compared
to a lot of the other players that I've played against,
or like the star players that I've played against this season,
(03:44):
Luther's ability to do damage to my team is narrow, right.
He's got five strength, but he doesn't have claws. Mighty
Blow doesn't have the stuff that presents a threat to
my team. Like Helm is definitely a threat because he's
got claws, and he also has the ability to reroll
like an injury roll. So if he like takes down
(04:06):
a blood Seeker, there's a good chance that he's taking
the blood Seeker off the pitch.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
So the first drive.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
I managed to pop the ball loose on my goal
line that I actually my theory of the game was
that it was harder for both of us to keep
the ball secure on offense because we have to devote
one player to holding the ball, and that player can't
(04:45):
be basically one of our and it's gonna be one
of our good players, right. That player can never be
in a situation where they can be hit by any
of the opposing players, because both of our teams were
like so lethal to the other ones potentially.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
And so.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Yeah, I bogged down enough of the team and the
Google had to make kind of like a break for it.
And I forget the exact circumstances, but I managed to
pop the ball out in my backfield, and we spent
a turn kind of scrapping over it. I had to
(05:24):
use like my last re roll to pop the ball loose,
like I.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Think I spent.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
I spent my my luck buffer trying to stop the
score there. I felt if I did stop the score,
I didn't even have to score back up. But if
I stopped the score there, then I'm in like great shape.
So the balls loose on the goal line. I stunned
(05:58):
his Google when I not it over, So now I
have to try to secure the ball.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
He's got like a werewolf.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I can get down there, and so I opt to
one of the Marauders that I sent down there. I
think it was the tackle wrestle Marauder was the one
who knocked the ghoul to over. I had him like
spend his last point of movement to get to the ball,
(06:27):
and then I wanted him to make two go for
its to get next to my blood spawn, and that way,
if he did come after the ball, then the blood
Spond's there to provide guard and also to provide tackle.
If the model hits my dude and tries to get away,
I've got some stuff to punish rerolls and my guy
(06:50):
fails his gopher and just falls over, and so the
ball's just like laying on the ground.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
And so.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Jennings was trying to stall as long as he could
on the first drive, and so he opted to stall
like one more turn here because he had kind of
like a half cage. There was like a wraith that
managed to get down there. The werewolf had a ball,
and I think they were like Luther was down there.
(07:17):
It was kind of a mess that was developing on
my goal line, and so I like blitz the blood
Spawn into one of the players who's screening.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
For the werewolf.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Get the booz Spahn on the werewolf, and I think
he like manages to just like make a dodge away
and score. He scores in turn seven. He gives me
two turns to score back, and so I do a
just send a bunch of people down the field, just
get them into scoring range.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
That's the first thing I do. And there's one.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Corn gore who's like closest to scoring, and so John
goes to blitz him. I think he gets like a
two die into him and it's like a push and
then he opts it. But because I have so much guard,
(08:18):
the two die turned into a two die uphill or
a one die something like that, and so John rolls
a skull and his werewolf just falls over. He did
push my model back, so my model is gonna have
to make two go for it. But he's actually got
like a line of dudes that are in the way,
so I'd have to make like a bunch of dodges
(08:40):
with like the way the board is set up at
this time, So I opt to knock a couple players
out of the way, and I set up a lane
for the beast man, but he's gonna have to make
like a leap over the down to were wolf instead,
(09:03):
and I didn't actually pick up the ball on my
turn seven like that was. I went to go try
to pick it up, to try to get it into
the hands of a marauder. And then my goal was
to hand off to my seven speed beast man and
then get him into scoring range, but have like you know,
a bunche models around it, so that way they could
(09:28):
clear open a lane and then have my seven speed
beast man with two heads and dodge make some plays
for it.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
But that beast man's now stranded in my in my backfield, so.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
I with no rerules. The seven speed beast man runs up,
picks up the ball, moves throws a five up pass
which is accurate. My other beast man catches it. That
beast man leaps over the down where well successfully and
it makes two goes for it and scores to tie
(10:04):
it up at the half. And I felt pretty good
about that because scoring in two turns makes the game
a lot easier from my standpoint, because now all I
got to do is just grind out the whole rest
of the next half. And I'm I'm in great shape.
So uh, the next half starts, and and I gotta say,
(10:35):
neither of us did any damage to the other I
think I I think he kaoed a marauder early in
that drive, maybe even turn one, possibly turned two. That
marauder did not come back, but I had enough extra
models to bring in somebody to help cover uh, and
then I I might have chaoed one person on my
(10:58):
defensive drive. I honestly don't remember, but if I did,
they were back. He had a bunch of extra zombies
to work with.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
And so my offensive drive goes pretty well.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
He gets a one die on my ball carrier with
a werewolf at one point. Now I kind of like
I set up in such a way where the werewolf
was going to have to use like most of his
movement to get to me to get to a one die,
and I felt even if he knocked over my player,
(11:39):
then the werewolf would be isolated by himself with like
my whole team, and I felt like I was going
to get like a lot of hits onto it.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
So I kind of like let that happen.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
I could have kept my beast man out of danger,
but I was like trying to get some of these
like really valuable positionals out of the way or like
isolated away from the rest of the team, and so
he gets like a push on his first roll and
that was gonna end up being a two die.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Uphill after that.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
So once again it's one of those where it's like, yeah,
you're gonna get a one die you need.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
You got two results that knock my model over.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Two results are like good for me because now you're
throwing two die uphill and then two results just like
one of them's you stand there and the other one
you just kind of fall over. So he uses his
reroll to try to make something happen there and rerolls
into a skull and sos Werewolf just falls over in
my backfield. I think armor broke on it, but it
(12:38):
just like stunned back there. That's great, that's kind of
out of position. That lets me like reinforce my position
further up his field and ended up scoring sooner than
I wanted to. We traded some damage, like I took
out one of his ghouls, I lost a blood seeker,
And the problem was is I couldn't do anything about Luthor.
(13:03):
I couldn't really get him off the table, and his
side step is very annoying for like say the blitz
bond to blitz into him, and so because Luthor was
out there, I felt like I was pressured into scoring
sooner than I really wanted to, because I felt if
I if I waited, like if I had forced him
to score in two turns, he was going to be
in kind of a similar situation of mine, where you're
(13:25):
gonna need like a five up to get something to happen.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
And so.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
I end up scoring. I set up on defense again.
He's got three turns, and the ball scatters directly onto
Luther's head and he catches it.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
So he's got three times to score. But Luther has
the ball.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Now I think I rolled like perfect defense or something
on the line, and so I like completely mess up
all of his line hits.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
Right.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
That was like the thing about my Quarrant team, with
all that guard the opponents set up to try to
get two dice on players, and then you get to
just move a couple of people in the way, Suddenly
they don't get to throw the hits they want. And
so he didn't have to try to get Luthor into
scoring range on that first turn, So he kept Luthor
(14:18):
kind of like in his backfield so that nobody could
get to him, and then he's got to make like
a mad dash with Luther on the next turn to
get him in a scoring range. And the best defense
that I can muster is to get somebody on Luther.
And that fortunately was enough to win the game for me,
(14:38):
because Luthor needed three two ups to score to send
it to ote, and he failed his first one, used
the team re roll, failed the loner check, and just
kind of fell over.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
And that was the ballgame.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
So really tight game. We both had like eleven for OT.
I think he had a couple of KOs at one point,
and I had managed to casually a couple of players.
But he did kill one of my dudes in resurrect
to Zombie, so he had like a lecture a little
(15:14):
extra buffer. Uh and and honestly, Luther kind of bungled
that game in a lot of ways. I think Luthor
rolled three different ones. I think he failed like a
hypnot gags. I think he failed a dodge and then
earlier in the game, and then he failed the game
tying dodge, and so yeah, if Luther scores there, John
(15:38):
actually gets a reroll to carry into overtime, which would
have been not good for me because I think I
was out of rerolls. I'd used them all to try
to stop that, try to stop the the last ditch
drive there.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
So wild game up for a bracket finals.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
But before we get to that one, I gotta talk
about the other bracket semi final game.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
So it's title Terrors and oops mostly Nerdlings, and that
was a it's a lopsided game.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Yeah, the we should mention that Clay was like in
a car wreck and then also his vehicle, I guess
was hit by another vehicle earlier in the day.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
So the this this game is the nightmare scenario.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
And this is actually what I was worried about for
for Clay's sake. I was worried that he was going
to go into this game not really sure how much
damage that the Snotling team can do, and how you
have to if they get the ball first, how you
have to set up in such a way strategically so
(16:48):
that they can't just pick your team apart. Apparently they're
like turn one a bomb knocked down like three or
four players, and that is a defensive error, right, that
is a defensive setup error. You have to you have
to enact the the bomb protocols. I don't have a
good stop, hide under the desk, shield your eyes from
(17:12):
the nuclear explosion.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Body check.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
Yeah, I don't have that whatever that is that that
mnemonic to remember against bombs. But you got to set
your players up in such a way where they can
only hit one model with a bomb. And honestly, I
think you put your skinks on the line. You put
three skinks on the line versus snotlings, because the team
(17:39):
doesn't have tackle and they're probably gonna three dice whenever
they're hitting anyway. And yeah, the skinks can die, but
the skink can actually dodge away, like if they get
knocked down, then the skinks can pop up and run
off somewhere else whereas the poor saaruses are just trapped
there getting fouled forever. Right, not to give you the
(18:00):
playbook on how to win the game after it's already
happened there, Clay, But I think you got to go
into the game with like sixteen fifteen, or if you
don't have the ability to overdog Morgue, you go into
it with like fourteen and overdog like see dribble and drool,
because they're actually really good against nottlings, like being able
(18:21):
to stab the ball carrier, even if he outsources it
to like a like a gutter runner or whatever. Being
able to just run into the cage on a three
up and stab the ballcarrier is extremely useful. And then
the side step gives you some momental side step to
work with against them as well. So, and they're only
one hundred and ninety K so you know it's not
too difficult to have enough money to afford.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Them by that point of the season.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
So yeah, so Clay didn't end up taking red.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
That's none of those game.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Yeah, and that's like a thing obviously we've seen the
playbook of people taking like named bias refs against these
like foul heavy teams. But yeah, if you are like
you have one side, you have a wizard and a
team that took red. On the other side, you had
the Snotling team which took the adducing package of bias
(19:12):
ref Wizard a KEG. I think when the team takes Keg,
you're in for trouble because they're just like looking for.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Extra Yeah, they haven't, they can't spend all the money.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
There three bribes ritis rookies, more Gaverag, a mercenary Giant,
and a mercenary fungus linga another thing where they are
just you've given them so.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Much money, spending whatever money they can.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yeah, yeah, and yeah, like obviously the name of the
game was just like couldn't deal any damage and then
was averaging losing a player return for the first five
turns of the game. Yeah, overall, it took ten injuries
in this game.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Obviously.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Last week we talked about the.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Snotlings losing an entire roster worth of players. This was.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Probably was worse. It's more strength of the field probably, yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Very quickly.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Yeah, yeah, it's just a debacle, right, Like, you can't
win a game like that, right, like, uh, yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
There are things you could do.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
I mean, as soon as the dies start landing the
way they end up landing, it doesn't I don't know
if it actually mattered what kind of decisions you made
before that. If every time they touch one of your
players it explodes.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yeah, and you're in I think other important Saffer games,
Clay inflicted zero injury.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
Zero pretty bad. That's like, yeah, that's just I don't know,
that's a nightmare.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Yeah, that could just be like if you start off
with your players falling down, getting out of position, you're
not getting blocks, you're like and you're just like if
you don't get the right blitz or something, you know,
like then you're just like stuck if you're only getting
to hit one snoting a turn and they're getting to
throw mor at somebody, plus go and foul that person
(20:54):
and just slowly dismantle you and throw bombs like you
just can't keep.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Up with it.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Yeah, and then they've got three bribes on top of
all that, right, like, so yeah, it's it's absurd.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
So yeah, so that is a two to oh win.
Both touched on the spot, one touching by Verag, one
by Borg. So that was the other part too, is
like you have big ball carriers, is that you can't actually, yeah,
the croc again CROs and assists sick Verag and then
two assists for more not a good spot. So yeah,
(21:29):
that sets up for the play Bracket B finals.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
So we get to talk about later.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
We've got one more game for who that champion, whoever
that is, we'll be playing against, and that is Darn
Tutin and slaughter House eleven the Bracket A finals, trying
to get in to the championship. And that's another game
for you to recap.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Yeah, and I gotta tell you, if you're gonna pick
a game to role the worst you've rolled all season,
I don't recommend it being the semifinals. So obviously your
agen is a I mean, Urgan's like been the favorite
to win the league, right. I had I think if
if you asked everybody in the league who you would like,
(22:17):
who you wanted to be your third sniper against Jurgen,
I like a lot of people would actually pick my team.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Right.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
It's a team that could go toe to toe with
his and uh, you know, something like the blood Spawn
could potentially do a hideous amount of damage to him.
And so I didn't hate. I did not hate this
game on paper coming into it. Right, I've got way
more strength than him. Yeah, he's got the five strength Runner,
(22:45):
but my blood Spawn was genetically engineered to kill five
strength players in a lab. Right, even if those five
strength players also have dodge, my blood Spawn is ready
for that.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Right. So now the bloodspond never to.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Blitz the five strength guy, and you wouldn't think that
he really would have a chance at it.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Because of the you know, the eight speed and all.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
I made several jokes about how the Dwarves were going
to reverse the field on me during the course of
the game, and that actually did happen on the first drive.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Funny enough, so.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Jurgen won the option for the receiving or kicking and
it was pretty funny because we rolled off for it,
and I think we rolled the same number like three
times in a row before Urregon finally won. And so
I was having to play defense, which I think I
(23:44):
was fine with because I felt once again I could
force him to score, then score, then run out the
half the second half, and then score and win the
game two to one. Because he didn't really have like
a one turn potential. He did get to overdog Deep Root,
not overdog but induce Deep Root, which made him It
(24:08):
certainly leveled the playing field on the strength side. I
wasn't super scared of deep Route because the last time
I played Deep Roote, I didn't have horns on the
blood Spawn, and then this time I did, so I
felt like I was ready. I was ready for deep
(24:47):
Route this time around because of horns plus all the
guard that I had. I didn't have to know as
much guard when I played Will last season. And also
I felt like Deep Root was rolling kind of Insane
in that game, as far as damaged was damage done.
Potentially Will rolled multiple box cars and Jurgen I think rolled.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Box cars from armor.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Like one time Jurgen rolled I think he had there
were like three consecutive roles that were snake eyes for armor,
snake eyes for armor, a three for armor break against me.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
Now my armor rolls.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
If you look at the tour play, you'll notice I
have zero casualties in this game. I think this may
be my only zero casualty game of the season. And
all I gotta say is that next edition, Dwarfs better
have brawlers that will block. So I'm saying, we watch out, Dwarfs.
You got their shooters in these streets coming for you.
(25:45):
But the the thing was the blood Spawn. I was
less worried about the blood Spawn in this matchup than say,
like Jinnings matchup because because the Dwarves are so much slower,
(26:05):
and I felt like I could out position the Dwarves.
And it's not like the flesh golums who were like
four strength. So the guys who are most likely to
hit the blood Spawn were also like tied to Mighty
Blow and a couple other things or have stand firm right,
(26:26):
like stand firm. If I hit the stand firm model
with the blood spawn, you can just choose not to
stand firm, and suddenly the blood spots in a space
like I can't.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
I can't.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
I don't have to map out all the possibilities before
I throw the hit with the blood spawn. Now the
the story of this game.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
I really liked my position.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
When I forced your again to score on his turn four,
I really liked it because that gives me like five
turns to score in this half of beaten on Dwarves.
And then I get the ball back at the half right.
That feels really good.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
In this position.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Now what happened is on the resulting kickoff, Jurgen kicks
the ball shallow. Now I set up in a power eye,
and I had like a little bit of blitz protection
on the wings. I put like two marauders out there,
and I set up in a power eye because the
(27:35):
guys that are in the power eye can go anywhere
on the field to go wherever the ball might be.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Right.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
If I set up wrong, if I set up just
like scattered about and he does roll the blitz, then
I can't bring my full team right like I might
have three people in the area depending on what happens. Right,
So he kicks the ball short, it goes to the
line of scrimmage, and then he does writ in fact
(28:06):
roll blitz and so he knocks my one guy who's
got like a tackle zone on the ball. He knocks
him out of the way, doesn't knock him over, but
knocks him out of the way, and the five strength
runner sure enough is standing underneath the ball. He gets
to move deep Root to the line of scrimmage because
you can't put deep Root on the line of scrimmage
(28:27):
because you don't want the like the blitz spawn to
get like free. He hits into him right, but he
gets to move deep Root next to the ball. The
Fortunately for me, the five strength runner doesn't actually catch
the ball when it lands, but it lands between deep
Root and the five strength runner. Okay, obviously not ideal,
(28:48):
And so I do a pretty good job of managing
the situation, okay, which is and I think this situation
for any team would be a debacle, and so.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
I do.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
And it's one of those where I wish I had
taken a picture of the board, because I it would
be a fun little test like where which model do
you think ends up with the ball at the end
of this turn? Right before before the corn player activates,
which model in the field do you things starts? It
starts the next turn with the ball right. The ball
(29:30):
is right next to the five strength runner. The ball
is right next to deep route.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Right.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
You've got a couple of blood seekers in the area.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
You got a couple other dwarves in the area, and
you basically have these cocentric rings that spiral out where
like players are gonna choose people closer to where the
ball is more likely, right, and they're gonna it's gonna
and it's like, you know, you might have players choose
the blood spawn, right, it might be something funny might happen.
The blood spa might end up with the ball, right,
(29:58):
you know, there's no no tell and where the where
the ball lands, but you know it's it's gonna be funny. Well,
it ends up in the hands of like this unassuming,
unexpecting Marauder who actually starts to turn in two tackle
zones of dwarves away from the ball, but he managed
(30:19):
to like due to the course of the events during
the turn that Marauder throws a one die into a
dwarf and push him and then pushes him onto the ball,
and then the ball scatters into the scrum and it
scatters to that marauder and it scatters out of his
hands to somebody else, and it scatters back to him
and he spikes the six. So I have a wrestle
(30:39):
marauder with the ball surrounded by like four dwarves, and
he's got some help in the area. But that's where
my turn. That's that's the start of my like, that's
the end of my turn, is like this marauder with
the ball, and I'm like, that's not where I want this, right.
I was trying to set up a scenario where I
could get my two heads beast man in there. He
(31:02):
had the ability to move in there, grab the ball
on a five with sure hands and then like dodge
out and then he would he would have been covered
right and I could get him away from danger. So
to help set the stage here, maraders got the ball
surrounded by four doors. Basically every model on the field
(31:27):
is marked by some other model on the field, essentially
where it's a complete scrum. I think there are twenty
two models in like a like a six by five
area of the map, maybe.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Even six by four.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
It's just all everybody is like dog piling towards this ball.
And so Jurgen gets to take a turn, and he
gets to knock some of the guys around. He does,
he throws a hit into the ball carrier and rolls
like a skull boat down or boat down, both down.
(32:06):
So I wrestle to the ground so that way my
guy doesn't take like an armor check. There the ball
pops loose, falls somewhere on the ground. It's a favorable
scatter for Urregan, like scatter's passed like behind his line
of dwarves. This scotter's like to a line dwarf if
he doesn't catch it and it scatters behind him, as
opposed to like taking a favorable bounce for me. So
(32:31):
he takes the rest of his turn the best that
he can, and he doesn't even actually recover the balls
the balls on the ground during this turn. And so
I start my turn ten, which is you know, the
(32:52):
second turn of the half or sorry, no, this is
my turn six.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
This is my turn six. I start my turn.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Six, and and uh, I get like at the start
of this turn, I have five or six blocks in
the dwarfs, right, I think the blood Spawn's got like
a HiT's like it's I can get like a blitz
of the blood Spawn towards the ball and like smash
a dwarf onto it and see if I can scatter
(33:18):
the ball someplace favorable. I'm gonna like I get to
just knock a bunch of them out of the way.
I get like some frenzy hits where I can do
like some really sick positioning. And so my first block
of the turn is double skulls. I reroll it. It
is double skulls. So I quad skull out as the
(33:39):
very first action of this turn. Okay, so it is
worse than if I had not taken a turn at all,
because I knocked over one of my players that were
standing at this point, and so I cannot recover from
this board position that he puts me in. Afterwards, he
(34:03):
gets the ball on the five strength dwarf, he gets
to cage it up, and the best that I can
hope for during this drive is to maybe keep him
from scoring. And I think there's there's like one or
two other things that go wrong during this effort where
(34:26):
I just cannot catch that dwarf. It makes it away
and goes and scores, and I I think I am
in trouble. Well, this is really bad. Being down two
oho at the half is a disaster, right, especially against dwarves, right,
just an absolute nightmare scenario. I have to somehow score
(34:50):
two touchdowns in the next half to have a chance,
and so I line up at the start of the half.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
I think most annoying.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Through two turns of hitting here again I do not
get any damage. I think I kaowed a singular dwarf
in the first half who he immediately rolled afore to
get back in the game.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Right, So.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
I have to score really fast to try to win
this game, and then pray something happens on the resulting
kickoff that can tilt it in my favor. And so
I set up. I actually run into a disaster here.
On the the first part, my bloodspawns blitz is double
(35:43):
skulls and I fail the pro and so I have
to loaner the pro. I managed to pass the loaner
to reroll the pro. I managed to pass the pro
to reroll the skull and I get a both down
and so I don't even get the frenzy hit with
the blood spawn into the dwarf, but I managed to
(36:06):
salvage the turn.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
I run a bunch of people into scoring position, and
so this this plays out very similar to the Jinnings
touchdown in two turns, where he moves some people in
the way and I get like a pretty good blitz
knocks knock a clear open a path.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
I sequence things differently this time. I run a marauder
down to the end zone first, because he's got to
make two go for its. If I fail to go
for it, then the ball is still protected in my backfield.
So I managed to pass those. I then have my
seven speed beast man run up and hand off and
(36:53):
that's successful. And then this beast man runs up and
does two go for its to get within a short
past distance to make pass a four, which is accurate.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
I pass all these. It's accurate. The guy goes to
drop the touchdown in the end zone, rolls like a
two to catch it.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
I use a team reroll, get the four, catch it,
score and two turns send it to two to one.
Set up on defense. The defensive kickoff.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Is a blitz.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
I'm like, that's what we need, baby, We're back in
the game. We're so back in fact, and so I
like send the house after the backfield, I like move
a bunch of people up into base on the line
of scrimmage to throw off his blocks, and then I
run like my two foul appearance guys into the backfield.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
And so.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
He only has like the runners are the only ones
that are like mobile at this point, I think there's
like two blitzers are tied up as well, or and
so he blitzes with his runner, the five strength one
picks up the ball, knocks over one of my foul
(38:03):
appearance dudes, and and then he makes like a kind
of like half cage. And so on this turn, I
can actually get like two people two or three people
to base his runner, you know, with with a couple
of rolls that go my way, I can.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
Get in there. And so.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
The the first key part is my foul appearance blood
seeker standing up and blitzing the his blitzer that was
part of the cage out of the way. That would
move him out of the way, and then I could
move and base the ball carrier. That way, I've got
a foul appearance dude on the ball carrier, right, So
(38:47):
there's a chance he just rolls a one to try
to blitz him away or he's got to like, you know,
make a make a dodge away. And so, uh, this
guy stands up, he hits the blitzer. He pushed the blitzer.
I have to make a go for it to throw
the frenzy hit. I roll a one, I reroll it.
(39:08):
I roll a one, and that's like my last reroll
for this. Uh drive Right, so my guy falls over
and I don't have any pressure on the ball at
all now, and so on the next turn, the five
strengths runner is completely secure, completely secure. He just knocks
knocks over so much of my team it's not even funny.
(39:30):
And so but he's he's kind of like having to
move to one side of the field. And so I'm
doing my best to put pressure over here. And so
what uh, I've got like a like a nice block
with a blood seeker to get like a dwarf out
of the way, and I can like kind of pressure
one side of the cage and open up some stuff.
(39:51):
So I gotta throw this first block. I go to
throw the first block, it's double skulls. I'm out of rerolls.
My guy just falls over. So so if you're looking
for how to beat this dwarf team. My recommendation is,
don't lose like three turns in the middle of a game,
don't give them a bonus turn in the middle of
the game, don't do any of that stuff. That's my recommendation.
(40:15):
I think you've got a chance to win this game
provided that all that, provided you follow that advice.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
So yeah, what.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
Was what was like a really nice, tight, interesting game
went off the rails due to some like apocalyptically bad luck.
It actually might be the worst I've rolled with this team.
The games where I had like five double skulls in
the past, I had like three or four casualties to
(40:44):
make up for it. I didn't even get those in
this game. The Blood Spawn. It wasn't that the blood
the Blood Spahn did like too little, too late, like
the Blood Spawn KO to dwarfs, just like in Garbage Time.
But I mean my blocks into his into his dwarves
I think resulted in like four total armor breaks or something,
and three of those were in the first half, right,
(41:07):
and then I probably lost ten to fifteen blocks in
the second half due to just turnovers, right, due to
three anywhere from three percent to like one in one
thousand chance turnovers during the course of the game. And
if Urgan doesn't really fail any roles, I did steal
(41:28):
some stuff early in the game with foul appearance, right,
he had a couple of hits that just flubbed in
the middle of it, and his team only had two rerolls, right,
so he didn't actually have like a huge margin for error.
But I believe he ended the game having two rerolls unspent,
one in the first half one in the second half.
Just to give you an indication of how things went.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
So.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
Hats off to your again, I think he was anointed
to win the league. I think this game was evidence
of that, seeing as how my dice rolls just went sideways.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
Definitely not cursing him for a finals match, saying that
he's annoyed for this. Yeah, well with that quick in
the morning a second. Then we'll take a break and
talk about our Bracket B finals, which will happen eventually.
But for a memorial this week, we've got Lyd Geller
Lineman for slaughter. Hustle eleven turned into a zombie yep.
Speaker 1 (42:33):
Then we had Mako.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
There was a skink for the title Terrors which I
think was one of Clay's fowlers that he's trying to
get going a bunch just never. And then Kielgan not
a lineman for slaughter Hustle eleven.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
Yeah, I lost some marauders in these games, and that's
because I probably praised the durability of marauders somewhere during
the season. The marauders of the guys who never get
hit because your plant's always hitting your blood seekers and
always hitting your corn gores or the 'spawn right like now,
A lot of people in the last couple of games,
my opponents were blitzing them roaders, which I think is
(43:07):
usually correct because the easiest guys are hurt and inevitably
that just that the it was their time, it was due,
they were overdue.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
All right, We're gonna take a quick break here and
then come back to review some snotling mayhem.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
All right, we're back.
Speaker 2 (43:26):
I hope you enjoyed that ad from Established Titles or
whatever it is whatever it is permitting on this legal eagle. Yeah. Yeah,
we have a bracketby finals game to talk about. This
is going to be two players squaring off to see
who has the privilege of facing Year again. In the finals,
(43:47):
Rag and bow oops mostly Nerdlings undead startling matchup.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
How you what's your like if like fast take on
this game.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
I mean, I think undead are good at taking damage
and so Snotlings can win games where they can do
damage and leave nothing remaining of their team of the
opponent opposing team and undead have nothing but models. They
don't care if they get hurt. Right, you have an
endless wave of zombies. So I think Sewn also has
(44:22):
a treasury. So his team value is also only fifteen hundred,
which is like much lower than what we've seen from
a lot of the other stuff. So I'd like Shawn's chances.
Sean dealt with Wan during the regular league, and Wan
and Chase have similar not identical, but similar strategy is
going on, So I like Shawn's chances.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
I noted that the currently as it sits, the Chase
is going to be getting less money. He has shown
some ability to kind of make up make a solid
use of that money they getting. It's like currently like
a little over a million, so I mean that's like
still a decent amount of things he's looking to get.
(45:10):
But I'd be interested to see kind of what his
strategy is going into this game. You know, like we've
seen him go for one of the gutter runners.
Speaker 4 (45:23):
Yeah, I think he needs that in this matchup.
Speaker 3 (45:26):
Yeah, because I think it's like, you can't just have
morg have the ball and blitz with him every turn
because there's like a good chance more blitzes into something
and gets stuck on it, and a scrum is going
to favor the Undead over a large enough period of time,
(45:46):
and the mummies are actually threats to the big guys.
So yeah, I mean I think you can you can
actually do enough damage to the Snarling team with Undead
that you know, you take out a troll or something
like that, and then suddenly you might even be the
one to dictate the flow of the game from there.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
H yeah.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
Flow obviously it's gonna be important. Like Undead is a
team that is very resilient, has to regenerate, but the
plan might just be Chase is kind of just going
in for two long drives and he's like, I if
I received the ball and just pick a player off
the board, I don't care if they regenerate, You're not
(46:33):
gonna get a turn to score back with them, Like.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
If I if I get enough removals early in turn.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Sean's got enough for Grak and Crumbleberry. So take Grack
and Crumbleberry is the one turn package.
Speaker 1 (46:43):
Deal, Maybe that might be might be the play.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
But also obviously you know the persistent issue with undead
teams goals don't regenerate. Yeah, so that's if those goals
go down, that's probably gonna be like a priority tar.
And if the goals go down, you lose a lot
of that ball carrying ability. Then you're resilying on the whites,
(47:09):
which I think one of those whites is it's like
frenzy mighty blow guard tackle, I.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
Think, yeah, but sure hands random.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Yeah, So like that is a player where you want
that one to be like hopefully going around and just
like healing. It's not like a turn or something like
that can like kill things. That's what you want. If
he does go the gutter runner route of being able
to kind of sit in the back and be like, Okay,
I've got something you can take.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
It could dodge, it could cage dive a gutter runner
on a four up to if if the cage is
comprised of only snotlings, right right, So tie up the cage,
cage dive on a four up with like a re
roll in your pocket, and then to die into the
gutter runner with frenzy tackle.
Speaker 4 (47:50):
It feels pretty good.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
Yeah, yeah, And that'll be the thing I'd be interested
to see kind of what the strategy is gonna be
fore chase, if he's gonna target the first or target
like some of the bigger pieces, because that could be
a thing where.
Speaker 3 (48:04):
I think it's Yeah, I think I think when I
played Amazon's in this shambling, I actually targeted the mummies
first with in tournament lists where I have dribble and drool, Right,
you knock the mummy down and then you foul it.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
The Bejesus out of it with drible and drowel. I
would not be shocked if that's a similar strategy here.
Speaker 2 (48:23):
Yeah, yeah, just because like that, like you said, is
a threat, and you could very quickly remove that threat
and then like you've got at that point, then you
can kind of move down the line like Okay, I'll
hit your ball carriers next, and then I'll hit Yeah,
if that white just puts himself in a spot, then
you can get caught.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
Yeah, And that's like you know, it's not impossible because
of frenzy, right, Like you can end up in a
in a position you don't actually want to dodge away
from because you were forced to follow with frenzy.
Speaker 2 (48:53):
Yeah, so that's gonna be it's gonna be an interesting game.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
It looks like it's be as of recording next Monday.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Yeah, yeah, that one's probably worth a worth a stream.
Speaker 1 (49:08):
So that'll be a good one if you are.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
And then obviously, whoever wins this one is going to
be going on and playing Jurgen in the finals. So
if you're Jurgen, who do you want to see.
Speaker 1 (49:20):
Out of these two?
Speaker 3 (49:21):
You would much rather see the undead. I think you're
not terrified of the snotlings, but I think you'd much
rather fight the undead because that is just a straight
up fight, and Jurgen's team is just nightmarishly developed compared
to Shawn's undead team. You know, yeah, the mummies are
(49:43):
a problem, but those mummies are probably just hitting the
line dwarf the whole game.
Speaker 4 (49:48):
Jurgen is. Jurgen has got as much money as he wants.
Speaker 3 (49:52):
He could overdog a deep route, he could overdog whatever,
right like the Old World Alliance Star players are just
better than the undead ones. So even if he plays
against like a count Luther, then Willhelm you know, you
go into it with some sort of mighty blow plus two,
you're in great shape. That'll process zombies real fast.
Speaker 2 (50:15):
So yep, I think I agree with that assessment just
based on to me, I think the big thing is
just bomb access, yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:24):
And undead not having any of that.
Speaker 3 (50:26):
It's huge, Like, yeah, could even take Jurgen get over
Doug Cindy yeah right, like, and that is a nightmare
for the undead. What are you what are you supposed
to do against that? So yeah, I think if how
much money you're gonna have a treasury after?
Speaker 1 (50:44):
I think it's currently three fifty five.
Speaker 4 (50:47):
Not enough for more.
Speaker 3 (50:48):
Interestingly, but you could take like if you played Chase,
you could take deep route and deep root can go
toe to toe with the Giant where deep.
Speaker 4 (50:56):
Route can bullye the you know, like I.
Speaker 1 (51:04):
Did.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Three thirty five is actually enough for Cindy plus deep Root, right,
So I think that would be my game plan against snotlings.
Speaker 1 (51:12):
Yeah mistakes, yeah, don't.
Speaker 4 (51:14):
Yeah, don't roll it, don't do that.
Speaker 3 (51:17):
But even if you did, I think you you would
still take Cindy in the matchup, because I think Cindy
throws off the snotling math way too much, right, knocking
down a troll for free, knocking down the Giant for free,
knocking down Borg. You're taking any of these players out
of the equation for a turn?
Speaker 4 (51:38):
Is it could be enough.
Speaker 3 (51:41):
To swing the tide where the dwarves are the ones
who are are pitch clearing the snotlings, right.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
Yeah, so yeah, and like if it if it gets
at that point too, I mean I think even like
if you want to avoid like a bad, expensive mistake,
you could like take a rookie death Roller. Yeah, yeah,
seventh strength piece just s it's on the line.
Speaker 3 (52:07):
Yes, Like the rookie death Roller is not bad either, Right,
you take the rookie death Roller, you take Cindy. If
you got enough money, you take one bribe, and then
you got your choice death Roller or Cindy to keep
in the game, depending on which one you think can
do the most damage.
Speaker 4 (52:20):
The rookie death rollers squares up.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
Against the Giant, right, yeah, and rookie death Roller but
very competent at taking a downed player off the pitch.
So if you trade the rookie death Roller, for a
Morgue or or the Giant and okay, fine accepted.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
So yep, right, and yeah, obviously there are some title
implications of this game besides these game they play.
Speaker 1 (52:47):
If Chase wins, we are guaranteed a new name.
Speaker 4 (52:51):
Yeah on the plaque.
Speaker 1 (52:52):
Yeah, which would be cool.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
Yeah, yeah, it's funny. I mean, you ask me which
one Jurgen would rather play. Actually, think Chase would rather
I have won the game, right, Like, I think Chase
would rather have played against the Quarn team, and said
against the the Dwarf team, right, But I still think
I would like if I'm in Urrogan shoes, I'd much
(53:14):
rather play against the undead team than the Snotling team.
So it's a funny. It's a funny way that that
works out. But yeah, I mean I'm brooding for a
new name on the black for sure.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
All right, Any any final predictions.
Speaker 4 (53:30):
Final predictions? No, I'm not in the predicting game anymore.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
Okay, sorry, I can't.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
I can't even agree and or disagree, just stranded out here. Well,
I guess that means up to the audience to predict.
Speaker 3 (53:53):
Yeah, I mean, the the audience favored your again right
to win it all, and we're looking at that right now.
We've got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven people
(54:14):
who chose Jurigan based off of our predictions, so more
than half the field chose your Agon to win. I
think he's still the favorite to win. From here. All
he's got to do is win one more game score.
All he's got to do is at a minimum, score
one more touchdown. And the thing is, like the joke
(54:35):
I actually wanted to start my recap with against Yurigan
was I'm tired of playing against all these mega stars
and also deep route right, Jurgan just has an insane
player on his team. I like, this is like one
of the most disgusting players we've ever seen in the league.
I think this player is probably more disgusting than the
dark Elf that one had.
Speaker 1 (54:54):
Does It have the same statling as a dark elf
just about.
Speaker 3 (54:57):
It doesn't have two agility, but it is eight speed,
it is five strength, It does have block dodge. And
the upside is that this dwarf has sure hands. You
cannot strip ball it, right. That was the thing that
that dark Elf did not have. It didn't have a
monster's mouth, it didn't have strip ball right. So it
(55:19):
didn't have any way to secure the ball. If you
could find a way to hit it with strip ball,
then you could take the ball from it. This player cannot.
This players like immune to that. This player is like
pretty close to immune to blocks because of the five
strength and the eight speed, meaning there's only a very
select few number of situations which you can even hit
the player to begin with.
Speaker 4 (55:37):
When you do.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
Find those, you need to find, you gotta like search
around your couch for any extra strength you got laying
around to get enough to actually get two dice onto it.
So you know, the I don't I don't know. I
just that player's insane. It's really insane. Yeah, it's that simple.
Speaker 2 (55:55):
Yeah, well, I guess you might need to start a
numberative black of just crazy players. But that's like print
out the little tour play snippet ribbon.
Speaker 4 (56:05):
And just have it.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
For this one, since this will be like it's your
last shot with these teams. Presumably if anything changes on
the roster then they're gonna be eligible. So yeah, well
this game is gonna be wild. I'm sure we'll be
talking about it a bunch next week depending on what happens.
So good luck to both competitors, maybe I guess.
Speaker 4 (56:28):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll lege you wish.
Speaker 1 (56:30):
Them one fair enough? All right, well let's go do
it for this season nine episode. We've got too many
episodes in the pipeline for.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
This season because we want to talk about next week,
about this game in the review. Yeah, and then we'll
have a whole season recap at the end. But appreciate
as always everyone tuning in and listening. Wherever you're listen is,
drop a follow, give the like, give a sub whatever it.
Speaker 1 (56:58):
Is that you can do to show your appreciation. Tell
your friends they play football.
Speaker 2 (57:04):
If they are tired of watching college football this season,
a need something else to distract them from life, they
can give them. Yell at imaginary players instead of college
students doing their best.
