Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcoming everybody to another episode of the Right Stuff, a
Bloodpool podcast brought to you by Empire Games coming out
of Sometimes Lovely, always Upsetting, Anderson Tuck Calana.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Maybe any here with hello.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
We only got about six games to cover this week,
and we plan on talking about the Secret League so
as well.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yeah, we're divulging all the secrets.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Yeah, yeah, we're it's playoff madness around here, our playoff
sadness even.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
For some people.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yeah, but yeah, I mean our six games, I mean,
every single game results the elimination of somebody.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
So and how the how the predictions going so far?
Somebody's like way ahead, right yah.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I feel like there's like one person who has most
of their top four leveling. There's one there is one
bracket with their top four final four still remaining. Most
other people are dead in the water.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
It's funny how you can't even like.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Group source, crowd source a perfect bracket, even in something
as simple as like a.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Blood bull league.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Right, yeah, but just so many things that can go wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, exactly. It's like, yeah, you look at the something.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Of course, they always have the myth of the perfect
bracket in the NCAA tournament. But that's sixty eight teams. Yeah,
this is only sixteen and so it's like impossible. But
I mean if you took half, if you took a
practice in the sweet sixteen aunt already probably wouldn't get
it right, right. That's just how it's just the fun
in prediction is you never know how everything's going to

(01:55):
play out. And I think we definitely have some games
we'd qualify as upsets this week.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yeah, and I mean the quite a few of those
games didn't play out the way we were expecting in
the slightest.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, So we'll just jump right into it with our
round one games. So we had first up, these Gaming
Byte Skinner Stars and Little Titans of Mayhoum. This is
a game I think when we were predicting it, we
were kind of we get I think there argument you
could make for either side.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, And my initial read on the game was that
there's like a good chance that Coop scored some touchdowns
in the first half and he might score enough that
despite getting beaten up, one could come back and score

(02:48):
like once and Coop would still score enough touchdowns to
win the game despite most of his team being trashed.
What it did not expect was for Coop score a
bunch of teams a bunch of points, and then also
trash Wan's team.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah, because that's what happened. Yeah, it was a.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Three to zero absolute brouncing. Yeah, that did not make
it the full sixteen turns.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
No, that when was the last time you saw a
Snotting player concede a game? It was, I mean not
in the regular season, not ever, right.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Like not unless more got killed on two and three.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, so yeah, I mean to take I want, took
an entire roster's worth of injuries.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
And I mean he brought more than a roster's worth
with him, right, So yeah, I mean it was like
thirteen injuries in one game, which is probably a league
record that will stand for quite some time.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Yeah. Yeah, unless Awesome decides to play. Yeah, that's that's
a wild Let sit down in an intervention.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
We're all here because we we love you, Austin, and
we we don't want you to destroy your sanity playing
off Snotlings for a season.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
The Blood Bowl teams will start some sort of players association, yeah,
and have collective marketing for Austin to give them proper
medical leave.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
So Wan's obviously do not get to take the full
like it's not like sweet you would expect normally. Because
of the way that kep roster was set up, we've
probably also had an impact like on.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
The way that game went, like, yeah, pick your adcent.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Plan, Yeah you have to pick.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
So apparently one has also been suffering from sleep deprivation
lately due to they be induced h waking gowers and
so apparently he came to the game half addled from
maybe like four hours of sleep or something thing at

(05:00):
the time.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
And so.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah, he only had the one star, he only had
Morgue Bomber was like counterspelled. Wan just bungled the the
way the inducements win or something like that. I don't
think it mattered. And I think you could have given
Wan Bomber in that game, and based off of the
what coop rolled and how it played out, I think

(05:24):
Wan still ends up like tabled. So yeah, I mean
the biggest noteworthy event of the game wasn't Wand's injury.
It was the fact that the sixth strength rat uger
got killed.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah that was a big one.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Yeah, that is the thing you think you can take
as a moral victory, like going into the next game.
It's like, Okay, I think some people, I think people
have different perspectives on next Like sometimes you lose in
the playoffs and you're like, I hope whoever beats me
one's the whole thing, and he can.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Say like, oh, I just I lost to the best
team in the league.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Other people are going to do a score shirt and
be like I want no joy for you ever in
your life. Yeah, and I'm gonna take your team to
the abyss with.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Me, right, your Mordred climbing up the spear to stab
Arthur one last time, you know, ye mortally wounding them
and like yeah, you might be dead, but guess what,
you know the King of England anymore.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yeah, So that seems to be what happened here, that
rat Ogre losing. Losing that Ratoger I think was a
huge part of that roster, just like the way it
was set up.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yes, so I mean the I mean, I guess we'll
get into it once we get into the next game
for Coot, but yeah, you had a six strength block
rat Oger who.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Also think you have like tackle.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
And that is suddenly no longer And yeah, I had
a movement down but it feels like a star player
at that point, right, like slightly adjusted stats and a
pretty noxious set of skills if your game plan is
to get away from strength to six p So yeah,
I think that's the big takeaway from that one is

(07:06):
that you can win a Blood Bowl game and still
lose quite a bit.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, that's I've been a lot this season. But we
was called out a check All's injury.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
We got it. We got a lot of checkolls in
this episode.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Next in that bracket we had the Gondlin Glory Hounds
and slaughter Ass eleven.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
If you would like to oh yeah, yes, uh, you
know you're you know, you're preparing for.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Like some of the really.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Tight Blood Bowl play if you're gonna play against Gym.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
And so.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
He had a lot of SPP and I didn't know
how he was gonna spend it before the game, and
so he opted to just take one total skill and
that was wrestle on the line, which against me is

(08:04):
like Wrestle's probably at its worst against my team. It's
not awful against my team despite the amount of juggernaut
that I have. It's but there are situations where I
can juggernaut blitz a wrestler, and they may as well
not even have the skill, right.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
So I had.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Fourteen on my roster left over from the now I
had fifteen on my roster leftover from the Jinnings match,
and I opted to cut one, and that gave Jim
two hundred and ten to play with. What I wanted

(08:45):
to do was kind of tempt him into taking Maple
since maple clock's in at two ten, because I felt
like I didn't think I don't think it was correct
for him to take Maple, but maybe he wanted to
try it out just to see right. He did not
take the bait there. He instead took a wizard and

(09:07):
a keg with his inducements, and the wizard was the
thing I was actually worried most about because I think
it makes protecting the ball really really hard, and so
I knew I was going to have to play around
the wizard, and I opted to kick the ball to him.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
I won the option, and he did the full elf.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Retreat into the backfield, and I was actually slightly worried
about that maneuver because that meant that I wasn't going
to get to do like the full amount of damage
to him, and I was kind of hoping to force
him to score quick and then play safe for that

(09:54):
half and try to get the Wizard fired off and
then do what I can to mitigate the wizard damage.
Like that was the way I envisioned the game playing out,
And the way Jim envisioned the game playing out was
stall the whole first half and score on turn eight,

(10:18):
then kick the ball to me, use the Wizard to
force the turnover, and either keep the score one zero
or take the ball and score go up to zero,
which point the game is basically locked up. Right, That
was the way Jim envisioned the game playing out. Now,
neither of us envisioned Jim's luck being kind of wacky.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
Jim was not. I don't I wouldn't consider Jim unlucky during.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
The course of the game.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
But where Jim got lucky, he got unlucky in equal
parts and other aspects of the game, right, so it
balances out to like even luck he was, like anytime
he knocked one of my players over in the first half,
he broke armor, and like the first two blitzes that
he threw resulted in one of my players coming off
the pitch. The very first blitz that he threw without

(11:10):
mighty blow resulted in a casually against like a corn gore.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
And then the next.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Blitz that he threw kod like the block tackle corn
gore with guard like just took that and that was
like a big hit because I really wanted all the
tackle I could have on the pitch. But ultimately Jim's
dodge rolls were pretty bad.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
During the course of the game.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
He rolled quite a few ones, and my team's pretty
good at forcing dodge rolls because of the match four
strength pieces with guard that I have. When he did
the full retreat, I sent my team up, but I
didn't like over commit, and my goal was to kind
of like press him into the very back of his

(11:56):
field and then try to leave another stuff back. If
he tried to make a break around my team, I
could rush the team over swamp wherever the ball ended
up being, and I tried to like cut his team
in half, like I went to isolate some of the

(12:17):
elves on one side, then forced the Elf group with
the ball to make their mad dash to try to
get around me, and then collapse my team on all
of that, and while trying to keep the rest of
the Elves at bay, and he ended up being able
to like cut through the middle because he had taken
out like two pieces at this point, so I didn't

(12:39):
have like the bodies that I needed to stop him
from making some dodges through the center of the field.
He just made like some three ups. That was before
his dodge rolls went completely sideways. And so I managed
to ko the one agility catcher, who was certainly a

(13:01):
concern of mine because I felt like Jim could engineer
one Urson score with the one agility do He's got
sized up with just like a little bit of work,
not really have to put a whole lot of effort
into it.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
And so.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
I kao that player. That was the only armor that
I broke in the first half. And so we're at
about like turn six or so, and Jim's kind of
he's set up to try to stall out the rest

(13:40):
of the half, and i'd bring the house onto his team,
I like completely boxing his elves. He's got one kind
of like escape hatch that he can run through, and
I've managed to pull a player around in front, and
so he goes to blitz that one player and snakes

(14:01):
the dodge. This is like this third activation of the
turn snakes that dodge and I get like five or
six hits into elves in that turn, and that's basically
the ballgame. I knock all those elves down break zero armor,
but I do pop the ball loose recover it, and
Jim is forced to use the wizard on my corn Door,

(14:23):
who makes the breakaway from the rest of the scrum
and he frogs it to keep it from scoring, and
he blitzes one other piece that I had that was
in scoring range as well, And the only model that
was even close to the end zin was the blood Spawn,
who was eight spaces away. Now I set up this

(14:47):
really ingenious chain push on the next turn, and I
get a chain push into the blood Spawn to move
it seven spaces away, but I have to use my blitz.
The blood Spawn has to roll a four up to activate,
which he gets. Nancy roll of four up to pick
up the ball, which he fails through the loner. But
I was very close to getting the big guy touchdown

(15:09):
to go up one out of the half and then
get the ball back, and uh, that would have that
would have felt really amazing. But instead we go into
the half zero zero and the second half is just
all me, I get three casualties with the blood spawn.

(15:30):
I the the ball is basically never in danger. Jim
never like commits to try to get the squad, like
he just never cage dives because he was afraid of
his whole team getting murdered. I rattle off like three
casualties and I surf new a handful of more ls

(15:51):
do oft the throughout the course of the half, and
uh and I score on turn eight and Jim sets
up for the one turn and snakes like a dodge
or a go for it to set up the chain
push that he needed.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
So he was actually pretty close to.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Tying it up on sixteen with a one turn, but
fortunately for me, he snaked at the wrong time. So uh, yeah,
the I think some people might look at the game,
see like a one zero victory for me and think
that the game they They may not realize how close
that game was because it was. It was pretty tight,

(16:30):
like basically two snake eyes away from me losing that game.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
So yeah, excellent freak up. I mean yeah, like I
saw the score, I was like kind of surprised. I
was ubjecting like.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
A two to one one way one of us Jim
the other.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah something, or even if it was like someone like
score twice in a row and someone's on like a
miraculous comeback.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
That might be the least scoring playoff game that I've played,
I think every like, especially with Corn. A lot of
the games that I played with Korn ended up two
to one, but I played my fair share of three
to two games in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
So yeah, all right, well that's that ended out Round
one for bracket A bracket be around one. First game up,
we had arbor Put and Rennegae the Punk, So well,
I was looking at this game, so my understanding was
the inducing game was getting played kind of heavily.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Yeah, and they went back like five or six times,
back and forth.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
And I think that from what Wayne was saying, he
was trying to keep Sewan off of a full.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Wizard, yes, yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
And was successful in that but ended up giving him
Horatio shot Inheim. Yeah, a coach or like one extra
staff and a weather mage.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
We will adomp this chekhovs mage, yeah, yep, yep.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
So yeah, so this game was not really the way
that people kind of expected it just over the course
of it, right, big thing to happen, and he goes
turned two Ward Answer injured itself.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yeah, on a go for it no less it was
the jump up war Dancer made it go for it
and just rolled the one didn't snake it. Wayne just
was like, this isn't or three rolling, you guys gotta
jump up. Provided he doesn't stove his own head in,
then surely he'll be fine on the next turn and

(18:33):
boom injury out of the game.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Yeah, and at a point where it's like you can't
really afford to a pop carry it because like you
need to turn too. Yeah, it's turned too and you're
not guaranteed to get that player back on the pitch.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Yeah, Because it was like it was like a passing down.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
You need to tackle. You need to tackle, dude, like
the Ward Answer that has tackle, you need that for
the dark ill right, Yeah, so the only thing that
could stop a bad Elf with blocked doge is a
good Elf whip tackle.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
So yeah, so that kind of I think put a
big damper on Wayne's defensive drive.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Like Seam was able to kind of just like poke up,
kind of go do he need to do?

Speaker 3 (19:15):
And like left Wing with like two players ko, like
every time we touched a will that they get ko.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Yeah, not not the place you want to be, But
that's the pain that they'd are on our teams. I
guess like sometimes it's just gonna sometimes people are gonna
be rolling those like you know, it's like what for
for a plus.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Get to break? Yeah, yeah, so it's like, yeah, it's.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
You're like a It's basically when an eight armor player
falls over, if your opponent can roll with six, they're
taking off the pitch, right, That's that's kind of the odds.
And so like you you will plague inst somebody who
will just rattle off like three to four six is
in a row. Just imagine that being players taken off
the pitch, because that's like similar odds within a couple

(19:58):
of percentage points.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
So going to the second half, I saw a little
bit of the second half, and it looked like Wayne
was kind of in like a decent position. The ball
carrier was kind of hiding under the tree and ended
up making a break for it and scoring on turn sixteen,
leaving Sean was in turn sixteen.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
So the weather in Schame was pouring rain yeah the beginning,
but I.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Think that influenced Sean's decision to buy a weather.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Mage you get to know the weather before you buy inducements.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Yeah, so he knows the weather.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
He bought the weather mage turned sixteen, pops the weather mage,
and then goes through a series of miraculous roles to
get a one turn.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Do you know all of the role it was like, okay,
so first off, the goblin was KOed. Okay, so the
goblin had to come back from ko which ended for it.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Then you got to pick up the ball and I
think Wayne had kick.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
So the ball ends up like in the backfield, so
it gets a favorable kick. Yeah, which those odds are
probably like thirty something percent or so of its scattering
in the direction. That doesn't that means that you can
even attempt to the one turn. It didn't scatter quite
far enough the kickoff event, I can't remember what the

(21:26):
result of that was.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
I believe that advantage Sean.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
But I'm not entirely. I don't remember exactly.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
The player picks up the ball successfully has to make
two go for.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Its so okay, yeah, we're.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Calculators for those sayings.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Yeah, but it's like for the first two roles of
like twelve percent, yeah, ignor kickoff and other stuff.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Yeah, so a three plus pick up, Yeah, three plus
pick up. I think maybe it was the elf, so
it was like maybe a two plus, but it was
still to go.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
For it after that, okay, So that's like I don't
even point nine at this point.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
And then hand off to the Goblin, who needs a three. Okay,
So that's another that's like, Yeah, the ogre has to
make a throw. The ogre has to pass the bone head,
which he did, makes the throw, which he did, and
the Ogre's got pro so that like adjusts the odds somewhat.

(22:29):
And I believe Sean had a team re roll at
least one remaining, possibly two, and then the throw is good.
The scatter can't be back too far, right, so you
need like net neutral results on the scatter. Then the
Goblin has to land, and I believe the Goblin land

(22:52):
in two tackle zones and it landed successfully. Then it's
got to make three dodges and I believe one go
for it, and Sean passed all of these roles with.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
No rerules.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
None.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
So yeah, and that ice to the game right there,
No overtime, just roll it.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Yeah, it was a two one win for the Run
of Gains A funk I don't no, honestly, at that
stay in the game, who would have been favored it
went to.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Overtime, Wayne was down a bunch of players. Now, if
Wayne gets the ball, it's unlikely, well I don't say unlikely.
Wayne has the ball in ot it's possible he could
score the whole like he could he could stall the
whole drive wood Ells are particularly good at that. Woodle's
are so good at stretching the field. And depending on

(23:52):
how many players he got back at that point, because
he would have had one more role at it, and
I think his k roll were pretty bad from what
I understand, because I think there were eight in the
ko box and only like three of them came back,
and then only like one of those came back after that,
and so I think he still had like four players

(24:15):
in the ko box. I don't know how many people
would have been heard through the I don't think anybody
got her. Oh, he had to make a Sean had
to make a successful block to free up the ogre
so that the ogre.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Could go move.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
Move forward one square to throw the goblin slightly further.
Ok So, anyway, suffice it to say, and the goblin
apparently scattered sideways three times, so it didn't scatter up
or down any He could have gotten slightly luckier and
scattered like past the wood elf line, but some percentage

(24:50):
of the scatter means you land on a wood elf
and that ends.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
The turn right there, right.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
So landing in two tackles ins is pretty fortuitous in
the first place. But yeah, I mean, I think it
gets to ot who gets the ball first probably.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
Wins the game. I think Wayne getting the ball first
might mean it.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
Would it could possibly go to kicks. Yeah, but at
least what alf touchdowns like almost assured if they have
possession of the ball, whereas renegades depending on who's in play.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Maybe maybe not.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
Right, oh right. One more game as first round camping
AP was Those Who Wonder and oops, mostly nerd lines.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Do you get a chance to seeing you this one?
This one I was keeping up with three to tour play.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
I saw a small amount like well walk by the
table like a one time.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
But I think this was just the game.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
It was like the power of the full inducement package,
like that you get so because Chase is getting over
thirteen hundred, so his indecedents he had the rough three
brides Rookies, Wizard More, Skinner, Giant.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Yeah, so that's a lot of stuff. There's a lot
of stuff, and Skinner. I think having played.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Play against Will in the season, I feel like Skinner
is something that is kind of a pain for that
team just a little bit because.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
It's so much it can stay outside your reach and
then get to the other side of your reach. Yeah,
like with with like a little bit of like one
mistake in positioning, right, suddenly there's a cloud of snotlings
and chaos Chosen. Even if you've got like a two
heads guy, you don't necessarily want to be dodging.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
All the time. Yeah, And that's the thing too, It's like,
you know, obviously you talk about snotlings and how they
are never removed from the.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Pitch at the proper ray unless you're one apparently.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
But I think that's the good thing too, where it's
like if you just end up not killing something one
turn all of a sudden, that's like tying you up
and the skin just run by.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
Yeah, that's going to add the game. Yeah. Another factor
in this game was it it was faltering.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Yeah, that's obviously way worse for the kash Chosen, right, Yeah,
And I think will win in the game with like
twelve thirteen fourteen or something like that, I would have
been really attempted to empty out the treasury. I don't
did what did Will take any inducements?

Speaker 2 (27:25):
Do you take up a ref? I think maybe he
took a ref. We have the technologies. Yeah, I know.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
It seemed to me like the game kind of went
through the.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
He didn't talking to him because I talked to him
the day before because he watched Okay, we were we
were chatting prior to the game the day before because
he watched the Me and Jim play. He came by
to witness that game and and we chatted afterwards and

(28:02):
we talked strategy. He did not have enough money to
freeboot more before the game. I told him I'd be
tempted to just take like a Borac or somebody just
takes some big, big hoss of a star player just
to put on the pitch, or maybe even take the
a gutter Runner just to counterspell the gutter Runner. And like,

(28:24):
if he takes Skinner there, then Chase is priced into
like hack flim or something like that. Right, you actually
come out ahead on your inducements there. You pay one fifty,
the other player has to take two ten or if
Chase isn't like paying attention, because if you take skinners,

(28:45):
it costs one fifty. And it looks like maybe you
took a wizard and so maybe you get to counterspell Skater.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
There's a lot of ways.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
To play it.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Yeah, so yeah, it seems like it was just like
a situation where Org did enough damage.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Like I'm sure he didn't go it didn't look like
it went crazy, but it looked like he did some damage.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Yeah. Yeah, there was like three injuries for the chosen
like one death. Yeah. Yeah, it was a skilled player.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
We'll get into that in the memory in section.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
So yeah, but I mean lots of fally going back
and forth, so that's probably like chaos.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
It looked like there were a lot of chaos when
I walked by.

Speaker 5 (29:25):
Yeah, and like KOs plus sweltering heat adds up, it's
gonna put you in this desition where you can't really stop,
like Skinner being overrun at the end of the game.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
Yeah, there are a lot of snotlings who who got
beaten up, But really it's not the snotlings on the
team that you gotta worry about, right, like if you
can take out a troll or the giant or more
or something like that, your your win percentage goes.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Way way, way, way way up very fast.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Yeah. Yeah, So that finished out our first rount.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Yeah, and we have a round two games bracket we
could talk about, yes, well a game.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
And a half bracket A. We had Darn Tutin and
Escaping Bite Skinner stars.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
The note that I wrote down was one minute you
were tabling snotlings, and the next you're conceding to doors
before halftime.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Yeah, that is exactly what happened.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
And I think part of this was due to I
would think in some extent Jurgen's inducement of thorn Corencon.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Yeah. Kind of crazy as a bias draft.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Yeah. Actually, if it's really funny because I think Jurgen
correctly attributed Warren for that inspired pick because he saw
that and was like, oh, this guy's insane. I gotta
take this guy took it, and then both of the

(30:55):
gut runners got ejected.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
One of them getting injected turned one. Yeah. That's the
pace YEA for a game.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
When Coop was playing it. Coop was playing it tight
on that list. He did not have room for errors, right,
he did not have room to get super unlucky. And
I think for the vast majority of the season that's
what happened. Like Coop stayed on the right side of
the luck curve. In this game, it went off the rails.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Yeah, I almost wondering if it would have been I
don't know exactly what his treasury situation looked like, but.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
Obviously he had to buy it.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
He bought a new rat ogre yeah, for the game.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
And so the major difference there is now you have
a rookie rat ogre ye no skills whatsoever, which is
like different than what people had at the start of
the league because we were able to give skills out.
So a rookie rat ogre is basically unheard of.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
In the league. I'm not sure, Austin. And but you.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Don't like you don't have Drugger naut.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
You don't like it's just zero skills, no way too skill.
Only way to skill it is by having it murdered
dwarves in this game.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Yeah, And like you need, like the radogre's a piece
you want for the next game, So you have to
take it now and try to get something on it.
But at that point also you're just like, you know, we're.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Not knocking Dwarves over with Skavin without the ridogre.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
Yeah, it doesn't matter what.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
And then the thing was is because Jurgen had his
runner the five strengths one kicked out of the game.
Jurgen was the overdog by like twenty k or something
in this game, you know, And so Jurgen took Thorn
cornson Kop took Bomber and I think like a bribe

(32:42):
or something, and that didn't matter.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Yeah, like the worst like that. It's like one of
the worst scenarios for you obviously, Yeah, get it, taking
the bribe not even ever gave me use it.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
Yeah, Like I.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Wonder if it would have been if you had the treasury,
if it would have been worth like hiring another gutter
runner just because that's another fast piece you can keep
away from the Dwarves. Yeah, like you're gonna was down
one of his eight speed players. The other one is
a blogger. But it's all we can go one place

(33:17):
on the field, and Coup had gotten a couple of
players with like tackle. Yeah, so like you know, with
an assist, he might be able to get two guys
and randomly.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Knock that player over.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
Yeah, even one die is like okay, right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
And also you're probably is not going to risk in
a game, in a game like this where it's like
that is your only fast, sure hands piece, Like if
he tries to like put it out there and make
a play with it and it gets filed out of
the game, it's the lower armor than it's already the
premier target because it's lower armor than everything else. Like
that would be a situation where I think it's like

(33:50):
if you.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Have like just another random look you gutter runner, it's like.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Hey, just hav an agility two piece that you can
like run around, Like I think pressing the speed advantage
might have been the move.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Or if Coop had known that Thorn and Cornson was
as insane as it is against the team that's like
dedicated to fouling, Yeah, maybe Coop spends his treasury on
trying to become the overdog.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Yeah, and then.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
You just overdog Bomber, and then John doesn't have enough
money for Thorn.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Yeah, thank you Warren for Thorn.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Yeah, and so yeah, the first gun Runner got some
of turn one. The next runner got set off on
turn seven.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
The concession was on turn seven.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Immediately I was watching the game.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Yeah, I was keeping track of it.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Two, I was not in the store, but where I
was at there were several people who had invested interest
in the outcome of the game, and we were talking
about it, and and I looked away from the game
from like for like fifteen seconds.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
I looked back and I was like, what a concession?
What what happened here?

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Yeah? I was like. The first thing that came in
my mind was like, I did not realize. I don't know,
did he knock out every other player or something? And
then I saw that it was just some regular confession.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Yeah. I was like, okay, Yeah. At that point.

Speaker 1 (35:06):
It's like, you know, you lost your giant roundoger, you
lost your two scoring threats.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
It's like you can kind of see the riding on
the wall.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
Yeah, bombers not in the game.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
You probably lost control of the ball somewhere on this drive,
or at the very least, the Dwarves are like fixing
to score. You might have seven players to try to
field offense with, you don't have anybody who can dodge,
and you're just standing there and having to fight the
whole time. And it's also possible because Thorn. If you

(35:43):
roll a one and argue the call, Thorn kicks out
the coach kicks out the player in question, and it
kicks out somebody else at random. And so it's possible
on that second ejection Cooper roll to one for like
argue the call and lost an additional player. Right, I
don't I don't know the full circumstances of it, but
if that happened, then you're down, like you might be

(36:05):
putting five people on the pitch for offense. Skeven's gonna
struggle with that if none of those players are gotta runners.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Yep. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
That puts Jurgen into the I guess semi finals. Yeah,
so now we're gonna see where goes from there. Obviously,
his team is back to almost full health, so that
he's like he made us through the tough game.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
I think that we were most.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
That was the game we felt he was the most
vulnerable in.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
And then when the rat ogre died, we talked about
how I actually think Jurgen's in really good shape going
into that game, because I don't know how he was
gonna deal with the six strength ratocre. But he didn't
have to. So like a rookie rat ogre, I mean, like,
how many dwarves is that gonna kill? There's like a
good chance you just scull both down with the rat

(36:55):
ogre because it's got frenzy. You have to basically throw
hits with it every turn. And if you want a
chance to even peel a dwarf, to put dwarves on
the on the pitch in the first place, because you
need you need dwarves on the pitch that you can
foul them, because that's the way Coop was playing. And
so if you skull both down and your rat ocre'
like that, that might just be it. That might just
be turnover and they might do the game right. And

(37:19):
so yeah, I mean, I don't know. I didn't love
Coop's position going into that game. And because Jurgen's team,
like unwittingly, Jurgen's team was like optimized to play against
that scaving team the way the Coop had drawn it up.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
And uh so, yeah, who knows, all.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Right, one game less Progulbee, we have a rehash of
the Shahan Bowl.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Right against a funk raging bone.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Yeah, and I think that game was like a snake
dodge away from being really really good because the first
half was scoreless.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
Yeah, Sean was saying that Sean was able to knock
the ball away from Sean as Sean was going to
score a touchdown and Sean put the ball into the
crowd and it bounced back onto Sean's half of the field,
and then Seawan went to pick it up and Sean threw.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
It even further into Shawn's half of the field.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
Yeah, that's how you're following at home. That's preventing Sean
from scoring.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
Yes, yeah, Sean on Sean violence, what is happening here?
And yeah, I mean we really ended up happening. It
was just like removals, like was able to just consistently
take more players.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
Yeah, And I think that's the undead games that we've
seen them dominate. I don't even know if dominate theory
word for this game. The ones were the undead come
out ahead and eke whatever advantage they have. It's been
the ones with out attrition people. And I think Sean

(39:05):
lost like two zombies and that's it right. Meanwhile, you
had like the Goblin got taken out on one drive,
and so that meant that the one turn option was
off the table.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Right, you made one miracle happen?

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Why can't you make two? Right?

Speaker 3 (39:22):
You need the second miracle for Saintthood. Anyway, So the
the dark Elf was lined up, and this is one
of those classic blinking you miss it blood ball moments.
I looked at the table. I saw the dark Elf
within scoring position with some help, and there was a

(39:46):
white touching the dark Elf and I was like, oh,
this is an easy score from this position. And I
left and I texted, and John Jennings texted me you
got eyes of the shamble. I was like, sure, do
looks like Sean's fixing the score.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
And I walk.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
I go to a lunch break because I'm actually expecting
ot at this point, because I think Sean might have
been a was stall for like one herd, but he
was probably gonna score and then Undead we're gonna get
a chance to score back, and I think that would
have turned into a one to one.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
Now there's a chance that the undead to get stalled, but.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Maybe you know who knows ah, And I checked my phone.
I like, leave the parking lot, and I checked my
phone across the street as I'm walking to go get
Taco loco and it is the undead turn and there's

(40:51):
no score on the on the table and I'm like, oh,
that was like really fast?

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Is that was it?

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Like double skulls was there? Double Skulls did like a
big guy skull out and fail a loaner and a
prol pro and uh. And then the rest of the
game proceeds pretty fast because at this point, you know,
the Renegades are down a bunch of players, and the

(41:18):
ball ended up getting scooped up by a ghoul who
runs the other direction, puts the ball in on like
fifteen because you don't have to worry about one turn anymore.
And that's the ball game. And it was, like I said,
it was like what happened? And it turns out it
came back asked and it was a snake's dodge. Dark
elf just tripped over his own feet, coughed up the

(41:38):
ball and then the undead scoop it up and run
the other way.

Speaker 1 (41:45):
Wow, well that's a another player who was looking to
get their name on the blackfat first Sonne.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
And these villains sean.

Speaker 1 (41:56):
Yeah, one day, one day, the other shan rise glorious,
But yeah, that is so I would saying wood zero.

Speaker 2 (42:06):
Win for Raggingbone. We have our info the morning.

Speaker 1 (42:10):
Second for the week we got first, I have a
journeyman from Little Fans in Ahem. Out of the thirteen injuries,
only one death.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
Which is presutly yeah, it's not bad. Pretty good.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
We had Throttle, as I mentioned, for Escape by Scatters Sharers.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
I don't think anyone will.

Speaker 4 (42:27):
Ever mourn Yeah six strength, big guy.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Yeah, no one's ever going to more than that. Yees.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
So we had Turgan a thrower for Donald Gloryhounds at
your Hands.

Speaker 3 (42:37):
Yeah, that was the the crazy Teeth went like twelve
turns without doing anything in the game, but rattled off
three casualties in a row to help me close out
the game, and that thrower was one of them.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
Next we had Thriginny Flame Hands, who wondered, yes, this
is the point in the podcast where I'll going to say,
no Triggany.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
In the guards stand firm block just the very respectable
piece there.

Speaker 2 (43:11):
Yep. Yes, blockers a block. That's how it's meant to be.
It's in the name.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
Then we had a nerd Wink for oots mostly nerd winks,
and hip Hop the thrower for running itinst the funk
who actually gets to advance later into the playoffs. Someone's
the rest of his teams.

Speaker 3 (43:30):
Yeah, yep, he lives on. He might still get a ring,
who knows.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Yeah, he's joining, he's joining the winning side. Yeah, those
are our in wary for the week, and for this point,
I would say to all of you resting out, we
have to watch and we'll see you in Valhalla. But
we went to a quick break for some sort of
ad possibly Taco Loco as you mentioned before. Yeah, Taco

(43:55):
Loca is responsible.

Speaker 4 (43:56):
Yeah, I think I think you're right.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
But yeah, we're back in second talk some secret league
and game previews.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
Yeah, ah right, we are back and ready to talk about.

Speaker 4 (44:08):
A secret the series league.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
Yes, the series. It's starting this week. We've got as
a recording. We've got sixteen people signed up, which I
think is exciting.

Speaker 2 (44:19):
Good.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
Yeah, it's and it'll grow so unlike other leagues, we're
not playing this one to crown a champion per se.
There might be a playoff. There might who knows what's
going to look like, but the current plan is to
run this for at least six weeks. You made an
announcement in the discord. Depending on when you listen to

(44:41):
this podcast. The goal is to start pairings on Friday,
the nineteenth of September. Now, we'll keep registration open and
if more teams join, we'll just do another round of
pairings with like fresh teams in the nicks and stuff
like that. So if we pick people up along the way,
then that's fine.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
If you plan on.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
Playing in season ten, then your entry fee for this
season is goes towards that season, or it'll be free
if you plan on playing the next season. So but anyway,
that's some of the just the particulars around the store.
Regarding the league. I think the league itself is going
to be funny because the teams are just crazy.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
Yeah, you have to do some very ridiculous things, and
it's like it was like no holds barred, like any
team you wanted could get registered as long as it's
like in to our play system. So that's interesting things
that people are going to be planned and we've got corned.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
Yeah, so somebody who was trying to get some practice
in for the regular season, and I feel like training
in this league will be like the hyperbolic time Chamber
from Dragon ball Z. It's like it's like training in
eight times the Earth's gravity.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
Yeah, I think like there's to me, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (46:03):
I would personally not be inclined to try out a
regular team in this league just because I would be
concerned if something's gonna change on that roster in the
new edition. Where was like to me, the whole appeal
of the Secret LEAGUESUFF is playing something that is absurd
in some fashion because there are so many absurd teams
that you can play. There's like eighty different vampire teams.

(46:27):
The craziest big guys you will ever see in your
life exist on these rosters, and everyone has their own
sort of justification for the teams are taking. So what
are you planning on?

Speaker 4 (46:41):
So I'm playing the Blood Dragon Vampires.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
I've stayed on this podcast and the times in person
that I felt like playing vampires again would be the
sign of low moral character or just the desire to
win the league. You get the expense of everybody enjoying
the game. However, I think these Bloo Dragon vampires are ethical.
These are ethical vampires. Also, everybody else is playing absurd stuff,

(47:07):
so I'm not gonna be left out. The Blood Dragon
Vampires are a goofy roster because they have more positionals
than like the Legacy vampires did. The Legacy vampires were
Thralls plus vampires. The Blood Dragon vampires have a blood
Dragon vampire who is like a super Blitzer six speed,

(47:32):
four strength three plus, agility three plus, passing armor ten plus.

Speaker 4 (47:38):
So lower agility but can actually pass.

Speaker 3 (47:41):
The ball on a not terrible role. They are a
Bloodluss three plus. They have hypnotic Gays, which is going
to work on a three plus and only one tackle
zone because their agility three plus. But they start with
Druggernaut and mighty blow and then they have regeneration.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
So these are.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
Like, like I said, super Blitzer vampires, and I think
because of the you could take up to six of them.
I think you would have to be insane to take
six because they are all Bloodluss three plus, which means
you were going to chew through your supply of thralls
very fast. But they can take some extra pieces over

(48:27):
just the generic thraw They still they still have the
generic thralls, but they can take these Braveguard which are
like sort of whites, the kind of like whitees on shambling.
They're kind of like super zombies because they have bad agility.
They are like four plus agility instead of three plus agility,

(48:47):
but they're five speed and ten armor with block, which
is kind of a bargain for eighty K because they're
actually cheaper than a regular white. The thing about the
Vampire team is that, like the vampires are the ones
that you trust to do literally everything on the team,
but this team actually has some competent pieces at board
positioning with these Graveguard and you can take zombies. The

(49:11):
big thing with vampires is that you have to kind
of like put three thralls in the line and pray
that they hold up. And usually, I mean, I don't
know how many times I've played against people who would
just knock all three throws down, break armor around all
of them in either k or casually all of them.
And this team gets to put just you get to

(49:31):
take zombies. You can take up to four zombies. Now
you can't use bloodlust on the grave Guard or the zombies,
so you still have to take thralls. So but you've
got zombies you can put on the line and let
get beat up.

Speaker 4 (49:47):
So yeah, I'm looking forward to playing the team.

Speaker 3 (49:50):
You get some badass vampires and then you've got some
extra undead just kind of hanging around, and I can
assemble it from the neck ro Antic and the Vanpire
teams that I have sitting around. So that was part
of the appeal to playing this team was that I
can actually represent the models accurately.

Speaker 2 (50:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (50:11):
Yeah, I have kind of been all over the place.
I have a team registered currently. It might change, but
there were a couple of things when I was looking
for my team. I wanted to find something that I
could not normally do on a standard crosser. Yeah, it's
kind of a plan for it. So, like, some of
the things are really interesting to me. The I think
the one I was looking at really hard wast Clan Molder,

(50:33):
which is the like stunty Scavin. Yeah, it's like it's
like Ogres, but with rat ogres instead of just regular ogres.
And you also get a couple armored rat ogres which
have better armor and they have unchangeled fear instead of
animal savagery.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
So that was kind of string to me, Like just
having a bunch.

Speaker 1 (50:55):
Of having little rats were storming seems kind of absurd,
but someone else relatued that, and I think the thing
I definitely don't want to do is like double up
on anything in this league, because I think the appeal
to this is going to be playing as seeing as
many different.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
Oddball teams as possible.

Speaker 1 (51:17):
There's so many cool teams, but the one I currently
have red shirt is playing Pestilens. There's another scaming team
and it is just a bunch of it's like priests
and monks, so it's like the sort of like religious
fanatic sect of scathing. I guess I'm not as big

(51:38):
an I'll skating more. But the thing that set this
team is that you get two censor bearers, which are
basically goblin fanatics that do not have secret weapons, so
they get to stay on the field and just kind
of go around and cause mayhem. The other thing that

(51:59):
kind of feeling was the scene with someone who hates
getting bombed as every player starts with desturbing presence.

Speaker 4 (52:04):
Yeah, so that's a feeling.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
Yeah, I'll tell you.

Speaker 1 (52:08):
Also in the lead where think there might be just
like random passing stuff going on, it's like this is
the entire field is just covered in a layer of
just decay. Nothing can get through it. Or if you're
trying to do a handoff, like you cannot you cannot
do a handoff action against the team like you're never catching,
it's gonna be a six pretty much no matter where

(52:29):
you are. So you get the two censor barriers. You
have two plague priests that in addition to serving presence,
they're you know, seven move the whole teams agility and
outside of the ball chains they're all upide of the movement.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
So it's a pretty fast.

Speaker 1 (52:47):
Team low armor, but the plague priests you get to
start with foul appearance, frenzy, and stand firm.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
So I have some.

Speaker 1 (52:57):
Frenzy Like frenzy stand firm is kind of cool to have,
like you just randomly kept somebody with that.

Speaker 2 (53:04):
You got plate carriers.

Speaker 1 (53:06):
Which have fowel appearance and sure hands, so it's kind
of like appeals to me a little bit in the
same nergal sense where it's like, you know, randomly foul
foul appearance will just randomly bailue out of the game.
It will like some like you just like someone's gonna
roll that one and you're gonna be like, oh, I
get to not even worry about it, thanks for wasting
your blizz And then a linemen are just you know,

(53:28):
like eight armor, but having your hands to start on
a roster. I like having some frenzy, Like I don't know,
I mostly want to see how far these ball and
chains can go to do something to cause a mayhem.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
But it's it's a goofy team for sure. Yeah, it's
like it is.

Speaker 1 (53:50):
They have it as like a Tier two, So like
obviously there's like another There's a lot of other crazier
teams you could play.

Speaker 2 (53:56):
Like if I was like wanting to.

Speaker 1 (54:00):
Like try hard, if I want to be sweaty for
the Secret League, I probably played like Katha or have
the Avalorn teams, because these teams look just good.

Speaker 4 (54:11):
Yeah, I mean they're they're just I don't know.

Speaker 3 (54:14):
There are lots of wacky teams, right, there's a lot
of there's a lot of teams that have like elf
linemen but then also have like some sort of big
guy on them, right, Like there's just a lot of
teams that are designed in such a way that like
they would never actually make it to the table the
way the game is currently designed. But I think for

(54:37):
screwing around having fun with it, yeah, go for it.

Speaker 1 (54:40):
Yeah, yeah, I'm excited to Are there any teams that
are like not currently represented in the league that you're
hoping show up or maybe we can influence.

Speaker 3 (54:49):
Yeah, I got maybe everybody's just scared of playing vampires.

Speaker 2 (54:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (54:53):
I actually thought like all these vampire teams would have
been gobbled up, right, because they're all they're like, you
have the non you have like some vampire teams that
don't have blood must right. Yeah, you've got like the
the Strugoy team that is like it's like a vampire

(55:18):
team with like a volunch of clause dudes starting. And
that team also has like a like a ghoul and
has the bores. Right, There's a lot of that that
I thought for sure would have been played instead.

Speaker 4 (55:33):
So yeah, I mean I think it's I think we
got a pretty good spread.

Speaker 3 (55:37):
I think as long as everybody just make sure to
not pick something else, something else somebody else is selected.

Speaker 2 (55:42):
Then yeah we will. We'll have a good will have
a good league.

Speaker 1 (55:47):
Yeah, obviously even kind of like yeah enforce that just
kind of a but yeah, I would really like to
see someone try this where a wolf team.

Speaker 3 (55:56):
Out like yeah, us you suddenly suddenly you're giving your
reput forger gain inducements.

Speaker 2 (56:04):
Yeah, either you get four hundred k.

Speaker 1 (56:06):
You'd either have like six Wereworlds or a bunch of
human Linement and Griff, you know, like or actually they
can't even take draft kind of they're Slvanian.

Speaker 2 (56:16):
So yeah, so you get a whole bunch of wear rolls,
or you get well Home or Luther randomly. Yeah, there's
so many cool teams.

Speaker 1 (56:28):
I would love to see someone play that, or the
naticing team.

Speaker 2 (56:33):
With the Crabs.

Speaker 1 (56:35):
Yeah, with side step see one of the most flavorful
skill editions.

Speaker 2 (56:41):
I think it's.

Speaker 3 (56:42):
Yeah, you got a five strength, ten armor big guy
with side step, like you just you just gum up
any kind of cage, right Like.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
Yeah, that's gonna it's gonna interesting to see.

Speaker 1 (56:55):
Obviously we're not starting with we're not adding any skills
to anybody. It's just straight out of the kids. So
it'll be interesting how that works out. But it's gonna
be it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 4 (57:09):
Yeah, it'll be fine.

Speaker 3 (57:09):
It'll be good send off to this edition of the game,
since it'll be stuff that we you know, you don't
get to do in the game really and we're gonna
have to learn all the rules over it again anyway,
so we may as well taste true power and then
put it back in the box.

Speaker 1 (57:26):
Yeah, and you know, if it goes well, maybe we
can have some crazy secret league tournament next year. I'll
work on getting a sanctionous. If people want it, we'll
make it happen. Let's have to do some KNAF correspondence
or something.

Speaker 2 (57:43):
Yeah, all right. That brings us to our games.

Speaker 1 (57:47):
We've got two games we can preview without speculating.

Speaker 2 (57:52):
First of that is happening Thursday, I believe.

Speaker 4 (57:57):
Yeah, that's what I'm playing.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
Yeah. So yeah, so our House eleven that hell Hounds.

Speaker 3 (58:01):
This is another regular season repeat. We've already played this
one this season. That game ended in a draw, and
it did a draw with an early departure of the
blood spawn. So let me say I'm not eager to
duplicate that again. Yeah, if I can help it.

Speaker 4 (58:22):
I think the game plan has changed since the last time.

Speaker 2 (58:31):
Now.

Speaker 3 (58:31):
I selected to receive last time, and I did not
do any damage to his team. I did damage his
team while I was on offense. Al right, sorry, while
I was on defense. That's where like most of my
damage came from. I think maybe I kicked the ball
to him because I actually I think after playing that game,
the person who had control of the ball you have

(58:54):
to use your entire team against the other person's entire
team to really do any kind of damage, right to
put them in in in a position where and you know,
both of us have like some positional skills, Like obviously

(59:15):
I'm moving him around, but he's got some skills to
stop me from moving him around. He's got some side step.
Now we both have the same amount of foul appearance.
I've got like way more guard than he does now.
But I think it's just like really hard to actually
play offense install. I think you end up just like

(59:37):
making a mad dash for the goal line. And so
I think my game plan and I just I don't
relish the.

Speaker 4 (59:47):
Thought of having an offensive drive.

Speaker 3 (59:52):
And maybe I get some casualties, but I can't reliably
use those casualties to get his players out of the
game permanently. I don't realice the thought of going down
the field. Maybe I can stall, maybe I can't giving
him the ball back to get hit, having halftime happen,

(01:00:18):
giving him the ball again getting hit again, Right, That
to me, I don't know that my team can take that.

Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
Much punishment from his. And the flip side.

Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
Is true, I don't think his team can take that
much punishment from mine. If I just get two drives
of getting the Alpha strike on him in a row,
regardless of what happens in that first drive, I just
have to go to the play the game with enough players.
I think when I went into the game with sixteen
last time and he had like a whole bunch of
players and two star players, I think I probably just

(01:00:52):
do the exact same thing again, A swell my roster
a sixteen. Now I've got a beast man missing this game,
and right now he's got enough money for he's got
enough money for Luther. I don't think he'll get enough
money for Luther plus Wilhelm like he did in the regular.

Speaker 4 (01:01:13):
And honestly, I think both of them. You don't get
full use.

Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Of both if you're using both, Like, yeah, they're good,
but you're like he was blitzing with his flush cones
because they had Mighty Blow, or he's blitzing with a
werewolf because it has claws, right.

Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
You don't.

Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
You don't want the star player points on Wilhelm, like
you still want the star player points on your team.
So yeah, I'm not I'm not entirely sure which way
he's gonna play it and I give him too much money.
He could do Wilhelm plus Wizard, and I think that
would be very difficult to play around. But then again,
I wouldn't have to play around him not a gaze.

Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
I don't know, it's tough to say.

Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
I don't think I can go into the game with
just thirteen though, so I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
Worry about Morgue at least yep.

Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
Yeah, and I think the game is basically gonna come
down to who who can uh, Like if we played
in the regular Like if the regular season game had
gone to overtime, I think I was down like two
players and he was down like five or something. Yeah,
So I mean I think I got to tuck in

(01:02:26):
for like a fairly lengthy game.

Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:02:31):
I'm still reeling from my playoffs lost to John back
in season three where he blitzed one of my Norse
players every turn for like five turns in a row
casual lead them. So I would like to return the
favor here if I could. So Yeah, well, I'll just
have to see how how it all plays out. But
I think it's going to be like a really grindy game. Yeah,

(01:02:57):
this guy is gonna there's gonna be a lot of
blocks and maybe there maybe we'll get some horror breaks
in there.

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
So I have a lot to talk about it on
the next episode.

Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
And we got one more game is title Taylors and
Oops mostly nerd Wings.

Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
I'll probably feeling with this one.

Speaker 4 (01:03:15):
I think I think if Clay.

Speaker 3 (01:03:17):
Had enough experience, I don't hate his chances going into
this game. I still think Clay, being relatively.

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
New to the game.

Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
Is he might just be walking into if I saw here.
I think when Chase is playing to win, especially in
the playoffs, then he's coming into those games very well prepared,
with like a tailored plan to dissect his opponent, and
so I think I think Clay is in trouble, But

(01:03:51):
I don't want to write him off, if that makes sense,
because I do like skinks into snotlings because they are
very fast and you can like make plays for the
ball with a bunch of skinks and then the snotlings.

Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
Normally the skinks.

Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
Are a liability versus some teams, but the skinks can
get far enough away from all the bottles that can
hurt them that you can end up fighting for the
ball with just like a bunch of skinks and some
snotlings and the stink the skinks are usually gonna come
out on top.

Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
Yeah, I think that makes a lot of sense. My Yeah,
I think I'm kind of a similar thing. I wonder
if the speed can kind of compensate, Like I my fear,
there's like a scenario where I think play can take it.
I would just be worried about how much damage to
sources are gonna take.

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Because you could be in like really bad shape. So
the that's the conundrum, right, that's the that's the thing
you have to solve when playing against these snotling teams
is that you may not have like you might win
the game, but you may not have a team left,
and then you got to find a way to play
the next playoff game without a team. Talking back to

(01:05:09):
season three, my route through the playoffs was Round one
is is not Wing game against Will and I took
nine casualties in that game. And I went to the
next game with like five journeymen and unfortunately I was
playing Norse, and Norse journeymen are particularly good. But I

(01:05:30):
mean that journeyman skinks aren't particularly good.

Speaker 1 (01:05:34):
So yeah, yeah, interesting to see. I think that one
will be I mean, bus these games. Think you're gonna
be good. I think that one is gonna be kind
of teetering on. It can need to be like really good,
or it could get very very quickly.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Right.

Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
I think if Klay gets the ball first, he actually
has enough strength to push around, say the Giant, plus
some like he he might be able to just throw
enough blocks off the line to knock over those big guys.
And you spike like a good casualty, you spike it
casually on the Giant, You spike it casually on control
at the start of the game, and your chances.

Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Are much much better.

Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
Right, But if you spend the whole game getting out muscled.

Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
Your chances are much much worse.

Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
So you'll see, all right, Well, that's the thing about
playoffs is you've run out of games.

Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
As tart about yea very pretty fast.

Speaker 4 (01:06:32):
We've got to do we get to dive into him
and got to talk about the secret lead.

Speaker 1 (01:06:34):
So yeah, I think that it's going to do it
for me to speaking this year.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Have any other last.

Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
Second thoughts last second thought, no, none. I have to
be interests of going into the Pacific. Rim has to
take nothing with me into the into the combat, into
the game.

Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
