Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am not a monster, I'm just a very misunderstood
man.
Welcome to the Scotty Don't XShow.
This is episode 18, so mypodcast is now old enough to
join the military, however notso old as to be a viable
commander-in-chief.
If you're listening via Wi-Fi,prepare for some airborne

(00:23):
auditory acupuncture.
If you're listening with yourear pressed up against my outer
wall, stop violating my privatespace.
So heard some clips on the newsand they're just talking about
strange hobbies and interests.
Talking about strange hobbiesand interests, and that reminds

(00:48):
me of an early internet storyabout somebody who was doing M&M
battles.
So what he would do is take abag of M&Ms and pick one M&M and
another one and pinch thembetween his thumb and forefinger
, and whichever one crackedfirst was the loser.

(01:09):
So the loser would getdiscarded, probably into their
mouth, and the next challengerwould be brought up against the
champion, and he would continueuntil the champion cracked, and
then you'd have the new champion, which was the challenger, and
go onward and onward.

(01:30):
He would do this until he foundthe champion M&M and apparently
, if I remember correctly, hewould send the champion in to
M&M's so that the champion couldbe used in a breeding program
to produce the next generationof M&M's.
So what are other strangehobbies and quirky interests

(02:00):
that people have?
A little bit of digging, pardon, the, the pun, came up with tree
hugging.
Yes, it's a thing.
People practice dendrophilia byembracing trees to connect with
nature.
Of course wikipedia has this asdendrophilia, or philia,

(02:23):
literally means love of trees.
The term may sometimes refer toa paraphilia in which people
are sexually attracted to orsexually aroused by trees.
Well, that brings new meaningto the term loving mother nature
.
But we'll fall back to thestandard line Does the tree

(02:49):
consent?
Yeah, pretty much the onlytrees that, uh, really didn't
consent were in the wizard of oz, where they started throwing
apples back at dorothy forstealing their fruit, whereas if
she just asked nicely, maybethey would have donated to her
hungry little cause.
Alrighty, so got the treehuggers out of the way.

(03:16):
Yes, that sounded morederogatory than intended.
Okay, wikipedia has this one.
Extreme ironing is an extremesport in which people take
ironing boards to remotelocations and iron items of
clothing.
According to the extremeironing bureau, extreme ironing

(03:38):
is the latest danger sport thatcombines the thrills of an
extreme outdoor activity withthe satisfaction of a
well-pressed shirt.
You know what I bet?
This is something that did notcome out until social media was
there so people could take theirvideos and their photos and

(04:01):
share them.
Photos and share them.
I really doubt thatmountaineers in the 1920s and
30s were taking their ironingboards out there to do extreme
ironing in the hopes thatsomebody would take a black and
white photograph.
Hello, if you made it this far, congratulations.

(04:23):
If you didn't make it this far, tell your friends to tell you
that you suck With the chapterclosed on Scotty Don't X Show
episode 18,.
The next one will drop onSunday night.
Enjoy your weekend.
