Speaker 1 (00:15):
Hey everyone, and welcome to another episode of the Trash
Talking and Giving Back Podcast. I am Aaron Colefield Barker.
This is Joe Sinagra. He is my co host.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
He works at Meyers Waste and Recycle.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
On this podcast, we talk a little bit about trash,
we talk about giving back. Often we have a guest,
but this week it's just me and Joe, and we're
pretty excited about it.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
I'll be honest with.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
You as I as am I, so sometimes we step
over each other, so it's nice. We're gonna have a
few extra minutes to you know, bring everything up and
hash solve all the world's problems in twenty five minutes.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, without a doubt.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
And we did promise to be on our best behavior
and make sure to provide you guys with a little
bit of meat, right because we do a lot of
just like chit chat which is fun, and share our
opinions on some like world issues in world problems. But
we've got our new Trashy or Not segment to talk about.
I've got a few questions and we are going to
talk about some sponsorships that Myers says absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
But you know, Aaron, with the weather being so warm lately.
You know, we try to get outdoors, but you know
you're spending more time inside. And I have many, many,
many guilty pleasures in life, and you know, social media
is one of them. And you know, and I'm also
a glass half empty guy. So I was scrolling this
(01:41):
week and something was bothering me and I got to
get your opinion. You know, I see so many wonderful
gofundmes for people that are doing great things and you know,
be it, you know, for surgery for pet or this
charity or that you are, and it's all wonderful. It
really rubs me the wrong way. People who share gofundmes
(02:04):
but they don't donate to them.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Maybe they're anatomy.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Well no, but like you know, I see it in
my feed. You know, so this person, oh this is
a great organization. Make sure you know, my friend's dog
is sick. Anyone who can help out donate so my
dog's you know, friend's dog can have the surgery, which
is great. I'm an animal, ever, I want to see
the dog at the surgery. But the person going on
and on but they don't even donate it, so you know.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Their contribution is sharing it with everyone else.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I think, yeah, but you want me to donate money,
but you can't even donate it's money.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Well, yeah, true, I would agree that that's well and.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
It's funny because it's the best though if it's someone
who considers their contribution being that they're sharing it right
and spreading the word.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
But if they're not someone that.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Has a big following of people, Yeah, okay, you know you.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Got twelve followers, followers you know Twitter? Come on, you're
not you know, you're not a kardashianar.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
What a great person you are for sharing that GoFundMe
for people. Maybe you could do yourself a little bit
better and actually donate some money.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Well, yeah, the five dollars you know, don't don't get
the Starbucks today and donate for your friend's dog who
needs surgery. But yeah, it's it's My whole life is
spent looking and making comments out in the world. That's
why this podcast is wonderful because people get sick of
me said can you believe this? Now I can come
here and say can you believe that? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:29):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
But also like I I'm sure you do it too,
Like I totally lurk on like a GoFundMe, like if
it's people like I know, it's like, oh who's donated, but.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Also like anonymous, which I don't.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Know if you're a Curb your Enthusiasm guy, but there's
like a whole episode about the anonymous donations.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
But like, I don't know, I'm not that. I think
I need the little pad of my back, like.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
I'm not people who it's like top donor five hundred
dollars anonymous, Like who are your right?
Speaker 3 (03:57):
And it's it's true because you get bored, you go
on go fund me. You just type in from and
you see some of these like some of the some
of the gofundmans are worthy, you know, animals and children
and stuff like that. But then there's some people who
they need dental surgery or I want to go on cruise,
And I'm like really, but.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
There are people people donate to that.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Oh, there's some You always see it like that's wild.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
That's why people do it though, because there's people out
there that are donating. Joe, we should come up with
something and just start a go fund me and see
what we can get.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, it's a great idea. It's a great idea. So
think of that.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
It's Yeah, the GoFundMe working is only a second.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Only to the Venmo lurking, which we've discussed on this
as well.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Absolutely, that's why I have a burner account, so I
can do it and I can make comments on them
and not use my real name. I can use my
burner account.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Oh well, you'll have to tell me offline what the
burner account name is. I won't make you divulge it
to the world. Maybe that'll be the GoFundMe.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
If we raise X number of dollars show, we'll reveal
what is burner accounting.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Right, Well, I'm glad you're not seeing all the negative
comments on your Facebook page. That's not my burner account,
I promise.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
I mean, I from when you work in TV man,
especially when I used to work in Louisiana, you got
to have some thick skin because people are not very kind.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Yeah. Well, you know, remember my initial career was politics,
so I spent a long time. So yeah, that's a
whole nother episode.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Fair, fair, I like it all right.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Well, so for this one though, first, let's talk about sponsorships.
I know there's a lot of different things, right, A
lot of the people we've been having on the podcast
is we're talking about some of the different charities and
things that Myers is involved in and gives to. But
there's so many that we'd be doing this podcast until
we're one hundred years old to cover all of them,
but we thought it might be fun to share a
(05:50):
few of the other things you guys have going on
right now on the podcast.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, you know, one of the big ones is, you know,
Myers is so much about family and community, so we
really look for events that we can participate in that's
really community minded and community driven. And one of the
big ones is in Williston. Maple Tree Place is a
wonderful summer concert series that they've been doing for years
and some of the best I mean, I'm a I'm
(06:16):
a huge fan of cover bands and tribute band and
Maple Tree Place does a great job with that couple.
Last year they had shot a Poison as a tribute band,
which is just was awesome. So Myers is sponsoring this
once again, this summer concert series Thursday nights at Maple
Tree Place. It's a great fun event. You know, it's
(06:38):
uh and free, you know, free parking and Maple Tree plays,
the music is free. You know, people can go and
buy dinner or food or or whatever they want at
one of the restaurants there, but they don't have to
bring you know, bring a picnic lunch. And it's just
a great community. And like so many of these concerts
series around the state, you know, just where we are
(07:01):
in the world. Just to have people happy and dancing
and smiling and kids running around, it's just a great
event that we just love to be a part of.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Those are Those are really fun?
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Yeah, And I'm just going to say, you know, Wilston
is such a great community. It's growing. It's one of
the faster grown communities in the area. So it's a
great opportunity for us to also interact with our customers
because we have so many customers in Williston and in
the region, but also highlight the fact that we're a
small family business and attracting new customers.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
And something kind of fun you were telling me about
is the fire truck. Is the fire truck there often?
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yeah, So we have a nineteen forties fire truck that
was fully refurbished. Jeff's father was a volunteer firefighter for
the Wenuski Fire Department, you know, a long time ago.
So Jeff refurbished the fire truck. So when the weather's
good because there's roof on it. The fire truck does
(08:02):
come out too different. Not every week, but it's when
it's good weather and we can bring it out, we do,
and kids love to climb on it and play with
the sirens and all the other stuff. And often you'll
see if you see it out there driving around town
because it is street legal. Often I'm the one driving it,
(08:22):
so you know, make sure you give a wave. And
it's always it's always quite an experience.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Fire Me and Joe, fire Me and Joe, I I Jack,
the three year old my son has been into the
fire trips lately. We've got like a monster truck fire
truck like all kinds of them, and he is We're
gonna have to come out and check it out at
some point in time because he will go berserk over
the fire truck for sure.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Well. And one of the things, Aaron, you do it
on the podcast, but I get it in my real
life also is you know, you introduce me about what
I do for Myers, and I get often what do
you do for Myers? And it's really hard to fully
explain everything I do for the company. Because a family business,
everybody does a little bit of everything. Driving a fire
truck was not one of the things I thought I'd
(09:07):
be doing in my life, but sure enough, you know
it's on on the resume, and you know it's just
another thing. So, you know, driving the fire truck from
Colchester Wenuski Colchester to Willist is always an experience.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
How do you get there though, Like do you on
the highway or you take the long route?
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Take the long route? You know, we can go on
the highway, but you know, the max speed on this
is about forty five, so slowly.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Be like waving.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Going down. So so you know, I try to take
the back roads. But it's a whole other experience going
on some of the side streets through Essex and Williston.
You know, fire truck people are like, oh, especially it's
always nice weather because no roof and everything, so people
are outdoors, so we get all kinds of looks, Oh.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
That's awesome, that's amazing.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Something else that you've guys are doing is something I'm
actually involved in as well. But the Franklin County Teast
card this year is sponsored by Myers. It's actually I
said this year, but it is the first time Franklin
County has had a Taste card. This is something ABC
twenty two and Fox forty four selling on their Value Vault.
You can find it on my Champlain value dot com
(10:21):
look for a value vault. People who go to any
of the restaurants on the inside of the card get
a buy one, get one free entree, which is a
great deal and it's only twenty two bucks.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Yeah. And you know, one of the reasons we want
to participate in this is, first of all, almost all
of the restaurants in the card are customers of ours,
so we want to support our customers as much as possible.
But also all the restaurants are like minded companies that
a lot of them are small family businesses or new
startups that need our help and the community's help to go.
(10:56):
And frankly, a lot of them the foods, you know,
off the chart, so it's even better for you know,
we like to associate ourselves with good, honest companies who
are out there giving back to the community. So a
lot of these restaurants are doing the same thing. They're
active in their community. And you know, Franklin County UH
and the Greater s Albn's areas is a great growing
(11:18):
community and area. And what a lot of people don't
realize is the food scene in Franklin County is is
has taken another level and is on par with a
lot of the restaurants here in Chipping County. And there's
even more business, no more restaurants about to open in
Franklin County. Uh, that's raising it, raising it up even
(11:41):
more so. It's we're we're happy to be part of it,
and it's another way for us to showcase our involvement
with other small businesses.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
And I forget sometimes since this is a video podcast,
but a lot of the people are just listening to
the audio. So for those people, I'm just going to
tell you the restaurants that are on the card.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
And for like the twenty two Bucks.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
I feel like it's like you literally buy it and
you go to maybe two of them, and then it's
paid for and then you.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Get free meals at the rest of them.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
So there's Bubba Duffer's, Nellie's Pub and Grill, the Rail
Trail Pub, Twigs, Swanton Shop, House of Pizza, Irons and Ales,
and Mill River Brewing on the on the Taste card,
which again is at my Champlain Valley dot Com and
Myers is the sponsor because gay Franklin County and Myers.
They know, Joe, you love it up there, even though
(12:30):
you don't live there anymore.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
I don't live in Franklin County, but you know, I
lived the longest place I've ever lived in my life
was Franklin County. So you know, it's it's my adoptive
home and it's it was. It is a great area
and we enjoyed our time there, and so I want
a family there. Of course.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
What are some other things you guys are sponsoring this
summer or just kind of talk about, you know how
Jeff is a very generous guy when it comes to
sponsorships and being a part of you know, anything and
everything that feels like it even makes a little bit
of sense.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
It's like, yep, we're in yeah. So you know, kids
is a big aspect for Jeff being you know, now
third generation is involved in the company. So we do
a lot of youth jambuoree sponsorship. So there's a football
jamboree coming up in Essex that we're sponsoring. We do
a lot of youth golf sponsorships and a lot of
(13:22):
golf tournaments and stuff like that. We must sponsor about
ten or twelve Little League teams all throughout the state
from Lennonville and all the way across down to Waterbury
and over here in Chitten County. So kids is a
big part of what Jeff wants to do and where
we like to spend our money. Some of it is
(13:44):
these smaller youth organizations. Their budgets are so tight that
the five hundred dollars sponsorship for your name on the
back of a T shirt goes so far and helps
those organizations so much. So we like to put our
dollars behind things like that. And that continues on into
the winter where we're sponsoring hockey and basketball and stuff
(14:06):
like that. So it's it's important for us on those
types of things as well.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Do you golf does Jeff golf?
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Jeff doesn't golf, but his youngest son, ten is a
very good golfer who golfs all the time. And our
CFO is I forget a nine handicap, I mean he's
he's a very good golfer. He's very tall, which it's
always interesting. You don't usually see like six foot nine golfers,
but for people well or people. Yes, my college roommate
(14:35):
was six'.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Ten, yeah you wants to look Like Burton Ernie mutt And.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Jeff, well.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
You can TELL i have small children IF i go
with The Testame street reference Of Burton ernie. Instead, yeah that's,
funny that's. Funny, OKAY i Have are you good with?
Sponsorships BECAUSE i have a trash question of something like
from my child That i've always wondered IF i was
being told.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
The truth or. Not, yes we. Don't we've never picked up.
Oscar if that's the. Question we get.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
That that's, funny that's. Good they. Should we got to get.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Like A Same street collab and you guys have those
little like stuffed animal, things and we got to get
like some oscars peeking out of.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
There, WELL i know you have a. Question but my,
daughter who Loved kermit The frog still does to this.
Day SO i actually got a we got a cameo
Of kermit The frog for her and it was such
a huge. Hit so cameos are, great they.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
ARE i always try to get one for my dad
because he loves like The Beverly hillbillies and like all
those like old school. Shows So i'm, like, oh some
of these people must be on, here BUT i never
pulled the trigger BECAUSE i can't decide who to who
to get for.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Them, okay here's my.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
QUESTION i feel like WHEN i learned about recycling right
in probably elementary, school AND i don't know if the
teachers were doing it just to try to drive it
home to, you but it was always said or like
a low key fear of, mine even now as a
forty one at a, birthday forty one year old, person
is that it was, like if you throw something in
(16:11):
the recycling that is not, recyclable you ruin the whole
batch of recycling and it all just gets thrown, out?
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Right is that? True, yeah it's not completely. True we
tell our, customers you, know a five to eight percent,
deviation which, means you, know it's okay if you accidentally
throw away something that's not, recyclable like we see a
lot of bathroom trash, frankly so you know it has
a little basket in their bathroom where they're throwing away
(16:41):
the wrappers from the band aids and stuff like. That
all stuff is, recycling but then you get stuff in
there that's not recycable, dentals stuff like, that and that's,
okay that's you, know not the end of the. World
so when recycling goes after it's picked up and it's
brought to a sorting, facility it goes on a big
belt motorized, belt and air will blow the recycling off
(17:04):
into different. Piles so the stuff that's not recyclable will
end up in a trash. Pile so somebody is actually
going through it all.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Air know what's?
Speaker 3 (17:16):
What oh, Wait so things that are heavier often will
not have are not, Recyclable so things like food scraps
or bulk trash like in a trash bag. Itself and
then also but then there's things like people think oily
pizza boxes aren't. Recyclable they, are you. Know the people
(17:36):
also think cardboard when it's, wet it's not, recyclable that
it still is. Recyclable so wet recycling. Is so we
often say it's air on the side of it is
recyclable when it's.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Notable see that's interesting because, YEAH i feel like air
on the side of it not being BECAUSE i didn't
want to ruin the whole, batch, right.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
And and you won't the whole. Batch you. Know, people
you're supposed to clean out your. Jars you, know wash
out your pickle jars there you, use a lot of people.
Don't that's, okay you, know that will end up in the.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Trash oh so, wait so when you were done with,
pickles the jar is, recyclable but you are supposed to
clean it out first before putting it in the recycling right.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Like, uh you. Know and and a lot of people
don't do peanut butter. Containers you, know you're supposed to
clean the peanut butter out in the. JAR a lot
of people don't do. That but things you, can you,
know like pickled pickled, juice you, know clean it, out
dump it you. Know, well the containers are easier to
clean than probably peanut. Butter so.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
THERE i always just assumed that was just people who
are like being a neat freak and they don't want
like the pickle juice in their.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Bin peanut. Butter, no, no you're you're supposed to Do,
see look at the THINGS i.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Learned what is something that people always think is recyclable
but it's actually.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Not is there?
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Anything direphone is the big, one you, know and any
of the frozen food packaging people think are you, know
like the quick food you, know you, know you.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Putting like away for five minutes type things like the plastic,
part like the black platt not the cardboard box it comes,
in but like the black like plastic part that.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
When you put in the microwave that is not, right, Right, Yeah,
so and but sirophone is the big, one you, know
because a lot of people get stirophoam From amazon places like.
That so do you know how many cardboard boxes are
delivered in the in The United states every? Day?
Speaker 2 (19:42):
No and we.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Both know from last week's question or two weeks ago
with question WHERE i was supposed to give you like
a ballpark number of how many tons of trash AND
i was over by like twenty five.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
POUNDS i don't even know like where to beginning, guessing.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Because it's an amazing. Number so just In, america it's
all cardboard, boxes not Just, amazon but two hundred and
seventy three million boxes every day are. Delivered that's. Crazy
it's just an astronomical number when you think about. Now of,
course all of these are recyclable and most of them
(20:18):
do ultimately are reproduced and everything like. That but it
makes you, think you, know when you're buying something On,
amazon and ask, you, oh wait an extra day to
get you, know everything in one, box you, know and
And i'm sure we all click the, Yes i'll wait
two days even Though i'm a prime, member AND i
say extra for over But i'm sure we all do.
(20:39):
Weight but it does make you think maybe you should
wait to cut down in the boxes a little. Bit.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Yeah, well AND i always think it's wild when a
police does like a free shipping.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Threshold LIKE i just ordered something the other day and
it was like thirty five. Dollars you have to spend
thirty five dollars to get the.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Free, shipping AND i was at like twenty five, dollars
so it's Like i'm too cheap to pay the eight
dollars for. SHIPPING i will buy something for ten dollars
and now it's LIKE i got it for two dollars.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
IF i paid for the.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Shipping but then it comes to me in like three different,
packages And i'm, like so Now i'm not paying for the,
shipping but you're sending me three different packages coming out
all different.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Times how is that?
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Cheaper and then obviously it's now three, packages which is
like cost. Money BUT i was also more packages out
there in the world to be dealt.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
With but there has to. Be they had to be
doing something, right Because i'm sure you. Saw you, Know
Jeff bezo was trying to rent the town Of venice
for his, wedding and they, said, no.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
That's.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Funny the town Of venice for forty eight million. Dollars
the town Of, venice the.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Town like where's everyone going to be able to live?
There or like everyone was going to have to?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Leave like what was my don't someone if someone wants
to Rent, williston, Hey Jeff, bezos Not, myers Unless myers wants.
It if you want to rent the town Of williston
for your, wedding it can be very. Beautiful certain times of,
year do not recommend mud, season but the fall could
be very. Beautiful how much of that forty million WOULD
i get to depart for the?
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Wedding? EXACTLY i did try to convince my family to
rent my house out during the solar eclipse last.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Year, oh they didn't want to do.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
It, No they're, like, oh where are we going to?
Go and da da, Da but you know how much
they're getting for houses On? Airbnb, Yeah like.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
We'll go stay up At myers on Water Tower hill.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
We'll have a. Night we'll pitch a tent.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Someplace yeah that's. Wild, yeah, yeah rent the town Of.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Venice this is a topic for offline BECAUSE i don't
want to be a mean, girl but like the fiance
looked a lot prettier a few years. Ago is the polite?
WAY i don't know if you've seen, photos but a
little too much.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
WORK i, think, well yes it, is it. Is but
and And Jeff bezo has uh what the opposite way
money has treated?
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Him, well, yeah money doesn't buy. Happiness but if it's
convenience is WHAT i always?
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Say, yes, Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Oh. Goodness what else is new over At?
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Myers anything anything wild and crazy going?
Speaker 3 (23:03):
On you?
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Know you.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Know the the big thing is we're always hiring so
people out. There we have. People we need people with
all aspects in the. Job so what we call, Helpers
so people who ride on trash trucks and they just
helped to pick up the actual. Trash these are people
who might not have a driver's, license who might have
(23:26):
fell on some hard times and they're trying to start
over in. Life they Are we need people of all
ages and abilities and life. Circumstances one big thing here
at the Ad myers Is jeff's a big believer in second.
Chances so people who might have made some mistakes in
their life and are trying to start, over we encourage
(23:48):
them to come and we're happy to happy to have
them as an. Employee so we need. Helpers we need
NON cdl, drivers so people who have just a regular driver's,
license they can drive a smaller truck or one of
the other non commercial driver license. Trucks we have positions
where we're willing to do an apprentice for people who
want to be A cdl. Driver so we Had boys
(24:11):
And Girls club on. Before we have some kids who
come out of The boys And Girls. Club they don't
want to go to, college they're not sure what they
want to. Do but being A cdl driver is a
Good you can make a good, living you can earn
a good, salary and unlike over the road, drivers you
know a trash, man you're home every. Night our drivers
(24:32):
are done by two three o'clock in the. Afternoon so
we have A cdl apprentice positions where you can come
in the company will pay for you to get YOUR cdl,
license guarantee you employment after the Fat we also have
our recycling center where we have people who sort through
construction debris so not, trash so it's not as stinky
as that might be in our garages right now with
(24:53):
the warm, weather but work on the recycle center to
pick through and sort between wood and sheet. Rock and
these positions are both In colchester and In Saint. Johnsbury
uh so we're looking for people across the, board so
we're always looking to. Hire so anyone out there that's
listening or might know somebody you, know have, them have
(25:14):
them come over and give us a. Call we do
uh you, know interviews right on, site right when you
come in and. Apply so it's a it's a great.
Place we have a lot of. Fun the company is family.
Driven you, Know jeff and his sons are here every
day interacting with everyone and pitching in so you. Know
(25:34):
sorry for another time is When jeff AND i had
to go do a trash route one day because we were,
shorthanded and that would be. Amazing, yeah, yeah me literally
standing on the back of the, truck you, know like
you see the guy standing on the back with the
gloves and, yeah that's that was me And jeff was.
Driving it was it was quite quite the. Afternoon oh my.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
GOD i love. It what is the minimum? Age and
is it all full? Time is it part? Time are
you guys there on the weekends just during the? Week
how does?
Speaker 3 (26:04):
Yet so we really pride ourselves on we will work
with the. Employees so we're for part, time working for full,
time we're working for some. Time so we have some
people who just, say you, KNOW i can only commit
to a day a week or two days a. Week
so We're monday Through, friday so we're not a. Weekend
so it's the big thing For and we have some
(26:27):
positions that are more the traditional eight to four and
some of the jobs are you, know sorry at five
am and work till. Two so we're really we encompass
a lot of things and we can really attract people
in all different weeks walks of. Life we're always hiring
mechanics to work on our trucks because we service all
(26:47):
of our own, trucks with seventy different trucks on the
road every. Day we have a full staff of mechanics
and painters and welders and people like.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
That all, RIGHT i love.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
It so anyone out there, listening if you're tired of
hearing your significant other complain about their, job tell me
you found a spot for.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Them if you're what he used to say is, sixteen seventeen,
eighteen is there an?
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Age what's, yeah you, know eighteen. Plus it's typically what we,
had just so you can have the ability to maybe
have a commercial driver's license. Later but even if you
don't have a driver's, license you know we'll take you
because we have to clean all These we have to
clean all the cans as, well so all the toads
have to be clean and have to be painted and
(27:32):
stuff like.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
That so there's jobs for. Everybody reminds me of WHEN
i was in high.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
School my grandparents owned like a sports and power equipment,
store and it was like if, right if it rained
and sports got, canceled and you want to show, Up
grandma will find something for you to.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Do so, absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Go work At myers and they will find something for
you to, do and you can make a little money
so you can spend it on whatever your heart, desires,
exactly all, right before we wrap it, up trash or.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
Not you got, One, YEAH i, DO i do. So
and this is a generational, thing BECAUSE i was talking
to some people yesterday about. It so trash you're. Not
you're on the, road you use stop to use a.
Bathroom do you have to buy something or?
Speaker 2 (28:15):
Not that is such a good.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
One there's different levels, here you, know because if you're
traveling with young kids and you know your four year
old has to use the, BATHROOM i think you. Know
gas stations and other stores are a little more accepting
of they get your four year old is potty training
(28:39):
or whatever it might. Be they're a little more accepting
than you and your husband traveling and you're stopping and
you go into a gas, station but trash you're not,
trashy not buying something at a gas at a rest.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Stop i'm gonna go if we had our trash, Meter
i'm gonna go like it's like a little trashy only
because it's like the looks right like and it may
just be all in our, heads BUT i feel like
you roll in and you use the rest of me
and you don't buy, anything like they. Know but how
do they know you're not part of the pump and
actually like getting gas UNLESS i guess they can watch
(29:13):
you like come in and, leave but like you are
using something that that building is maintaining and keeping and
keeping clean hopefully for you and doing.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
So Like i'm gonna go like a little.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Trashy WHERE i was saying. Generational you, KNOW i had older.
Parents my father like absolutely he stopped. Someplace he was
buying something every, time absolutely without a. Doubt you, KNOW
i can remember times he, bought you, know a pack
of gum and he intew, gum but you know he bought.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
It he did something to buy.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Buy SO i think maybe the older generation is more
accepting buying something than maybe a younger generation on. It but,
YEAH i find myself LIKE i feel kind of obligated to.
Buy AND i also feel like you can always find
something to buy that you'll use later beat a bottle
(30:07):
of water or you, know you have, kids so you
buy chips or, yeah which IS i don't.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Know, well it's interesting because like it's also depends where it, is,
right like a gas like a standalone gas station with
convenience store like, Absolutely but if you go to like
the rest, stop like In New, hampshire like, whatever you
could just go, win use the bathroom and. Leaven LIKE
i think they're banking on making enough money from all
of the people that other people are kind of like
(30:34):
doing it for.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
You the TOPIC i almost said, WAS i don't know
if you saw, this But vermont is currently they just
finish a liquor sale for all the liquor they haven't
sold at the state liquor. Stores, no have you seen? This?
No so the State vermont has you, know state liquor
stores all, yeah throughout the, state and they have something
(30:57):
like forty seven thousand boys mottles of liquor that hadn't.
Sold so either they bought too much or special order
whatever it. Is so they're selling it AT i think
fifty percent off to any anybody can go and buy.
It AND, i you, know is it trashy to buy? Broad?
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Well what kind Of LIKE i. Guess i'm, LIKE i
gotta google this. Now like are we talking about Like?
Tito's are we talking about Like Boons? Farm LIKE i
like we talked about remember pop Of, LIKE i don't.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
KNOW i don't think it's from how they're describing. It
it's stuff that wasn't, Sold SO i don't think like
The Tito's.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
And, yeah it's something that's not. Moving but so IF
i go you're telling, me IF i go to one
of the.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Liquor, stores there's gonna be some like clear interact of
liquor that they're trying to.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Move, no, no, no they took all forty three, thousand
forty seven thousand bottles and it's In montpelier in a
big warehouse and you go in and you walk through
and you can buy buy this, all you, Know, like,
no you don't Have Johnny Walker, Blue like, yeah it's
probably Yeah Boonez farm OR i, Mean.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
I'm going on vacation, soon so maybe i'mna have to
take a little detour and see what we can go and.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
GET i love a good.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Deal, YEAH i picked up a bottle Of. Aftershock it was.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Great what was that one that For loco that people
are like going nuts?
Speaker 3 (32:25):
About, yes, yes, yes absolutely. SO i was thinking about
that as a trashy or not buying buying almost expired
state issued.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Booze so, yeah the buying of it is not. Trashy
putting a bow on it and giving it to someone
as a gift a little, Trashy that's What I'm but
NOW i might have to go there and buy something
and bring it to you as a.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
GIFT i appreciate.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
That all, Right well we're gonna wrap it up on
that if anyone listening goes or watching goes to this liquor,
saleough let us know because we're very interested to hear
how it is while you're. Here, also make sure you

Speaker 3 (33:17):
YET i bring the price down and do something. Out so,
yeah that's that's a. PROJECT i have to.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
