Love speaks in many languages, and personalized wedding vows might be the most beautiful dialect of all. As we wrap up our six-week exploration of wedding promises, this final episode celebrates the magic that happens when couples put their authentic selves into the words they'll exchange on their special day.

What makes personalized vows so powerful? It's the way they capture the unique rhythm of your relationship. Like the yoga instructor who calculated she'd loved her partner for "5 million, 825 heartbeats" – transforming a simple measurement into a breathtaking testament to devotion. Or the bride who promised to "always fake enjoy listening to your country music, even when I only want to listen to Machine Gun Kelly." These authentic moments create ripples of recognition and joy throughout your ceremony that generic vows simply cannot match.

Many couples worry their partner won't craft something meaningful or that public speaking anxiety might derail their special moment. As an experienced officiant, I've seen grooms surprise everyone (especially their brides) with unexpectedly heartfelt promises. And for those unexpected day-of challenges? The right officiant will ensure everything flows smoothly, whether someone loses their voice or needs a last-minute format change. Your vows should be as flexible as your relationship – able to bend without breaking, just like the promises you're making to each other.

Ready to craft vows that truly reflect your unique love story? Listen for inspiring examples, practical advice, and the reassurance that your promises – whether funny, profound, or a bit of both – will become the emotional cornerstone of your ceremony and marriage. Subscribe to the WeddingWare podcast for more insights as we return to our regular format next week!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Vow mini-series on the WeddingWare,
with Officiating by Amanda.
We are doing a little six-week,just a little deep dive into
vows and some of the differentvow options you might want for
your wedding ceremony.
If you're new and joining us in, my name is Amanda.

(00:23):
I'm a wedding officiant and Istarted this podcast in January
to tell some stories, share someinsights, advice, just laugh
and preserve the memories.
And after our first 25 episodes, with some added in bonuses,
I'm taking a little midsummerhiatus and just going over some

(00:45):
vows.
Welcome to our last of the vowmini episodes.
Six weeks has gone by very, very quickly, but I'm excited to
hop back into more traditionalformat.
So I don't know, it's beenreally easy, kind of doing
little, five minutes at a time.

(01:05):
So today we're going to talkabout a lot of personalization,
wherein the couple's most likelyreading these vows themselves.
The words are very true to them, the stories, all of that.
But if something were to comeup in the last moments, someone

(01:27):
loses their voice and could onlycroak out the word I do, or
they'd rather not readeverything out in front of
everyone.
All of it can be adjusted, withthe right person as your
officiant guiding the helm.
I always say that I'm like, yeah, it can all be done.
And then I know of coupleswho've actually run across
officiants who have said, no,I'm like, yeah, it can all be
done.
And then I know of coupleswho've actually run across
deficients who have said, no, Idon't do that or no, that'll

(01:49):
cost extra.
So I say that, with the caveatof, the right person will work
with you to make sure thateverything comes together
smoothly for your wedding day.
So you're gonna hear someclicking in the background here.
I'm going back and forth betweena whole bunch of different
previous weddings that I've doneand ones that I have helped the

(02:11):
couple with their vows.
Not mad about it, and youshouldn't be either.
It's just I love the words thatpeople say to their significant
others.
It is absolutely beautiful andI just I think it's great.

(02:38):
Any couple that has said like,oh, yes, you could use my
entirety, it's really cute, likeI, I thought of it.
But then, like you know what, let them keep that until maybe
they come on the podcast andthey're able to share it
themselves.
But to that end, let's dive onin.

(02:58):
So one of the best things Ihave found with custom vows is
things I have found with customvows is the couples really
leaning into the things thatthey love about each other while
tying in even the aspects ofthemselves.
So I had one bride who is ayoga instructor and she figured

(03:19):
out what her resting heart rateis and then she multiplied that
over the length of time that shehas known the groom and in her
vows said I can't believe I'veloved you for 5 million 825
heartbeats that I've loved you, each and every single one of
them really really beautifullydone.

(03:42):
And I have others who play alot with numbers and make for
some really good.
Well, we've made it throughthis, this, this and that, that,
that.
Let me grab a few of thesegreat little fun vows that are
so great.
I promise to always ask beforebringing more animals home.

(04:02):
I vow to remember things forthe both of us to the best of my
abilities.
I promise to never assumemalice before all other
explanations.
I vow to understand that asdifficult as something is for me
to hear, it's just as difficultfor you.

(04:24):
I vow that you'll never see eyerolls from me and you'll only
receive enthusiastic curiosityand encouragement.
I promise I won't get too naggywhen you forget to do something
on your honey-do list.
I will continue to put ourfamily first and be your rock
always.
I promise to always fake enjoylistening to your country music,

(04:47):
even when I only want to listento Machine Gun Kelly.
I just actually had to find away to talk about Machine Gun
Kelly in the Vows.
That was a great one.
That really made everybodylaugh a little bit more than
they should have.
I promise to be patient withyour OCD and allow you to clean
already spotless areas of ourhouse.
I will take your hand and standby your side through the good

(05:11):
and the bad.
Yeah again, they are reallygreat opportunities for the
couples, for each individualperson to shine, and I always
laugh because there are brideswho go oh, my groom, he'd never
write anything that serious orthat sincere.
But man, the words that come outof some of these guys.

(05:34):
Some are rough.
Do not get me wrong at all.
I've done some major editingand modifications, but some are
absolutely perfect and what theydo that I could never do is
tell the funny little things ofthe story.
I could say until I'm blue inthe face how much a couple likes

(05:56):
Machine Gun Kelly, but I tellyou what it coming out in the
vows, chef's kiss, it is perfect.
It is so much more than I couldever do.
And when couples do share theirown vows, I know that they
still want to get that.
I do vibe.
So I simply ask, after they'redone sharing out what they've

(06:19):
customized do you swear by thevows you made here today?
That's it.
They still get to say I do, butI would not want to add
anything more.
I don't want to add or detractin any way shape from their own
vows.
So thank you guys so much.
I hope that you enjoyed thismini series and until next time.

(06:40):
