Amanda explores repeat-after-me wedding vows as part of her six-week mini-series on vow options for couples planning their ceremonies. She provides practical advice for those who want meaningful vows without the pressure of memorization or writing completely custom promises.

• Repeat-after-me vows are broken into small chunks by the officiant for easy repetition
• These vows require minimal preparation while still feeling personal and meaningful
• Amanda references the famous "Ross takes thee Rachel" Friends scene as a cautionary tale
• Example vow shared: "I will love you as my husband/wife, as friend and mate"
• The example acknowledges both joys and challenges of marriage through balanced language
• Couples can adapt these vows into I-do's or personalize them further
• Next episode will explore custom vow options and vow volleys

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Vow mini-series on the WeddingWare,
with Officiating by Amanda.
We are doing a little six-week,just a little deep dive into
vows and some of the differentvow options you might want for
your wedding ceremony.

(00:20):
If you're new and joining us in, my name is Amanda.
I'm a wedding officiant and Istarted this podcast in January
to tell some stories, share someinsights, advice, just laugh
and preserve the memories.
And after our first 25 episodes, with some added in bonuses,
I'm taking a little midsummerhiatus and I'm just going over

(00:44):
some vows.
I have another repeat after meexample for you today.
So remembering repeat after mevows are the ones that are
broken into little chunks, thatthe officiant says first
pretending as if they are eitherspouse member and the spouse

(01:05):
repeats it the couple.
You really don't have to do alot of thinking with it because
a proper officiant will break itinto very easy to understand
bite-sized pieces.
But you just want to be mindful.
Last episode I acknowledged theRoss and Rachel of it all from
Friends where the minister saidI Ross take the Emily and Ross

(01:29):
said I Ross take the Rachel.
And anyone who knows the showknows that that caused a lot of
drama, but that's a very youknow, just an example of repeat
after me vows.
So once again, you could takethese, turn them into I do's.
You could have them printed outand pretend like you're reading

(01:49):
them as if they are your ownwords.
However, if both people readthe exact same words, well, it
gets a little robotic.
So that's where next week we'llget into some of the volleys or
the customizations that can bedone.
But today's example I will loveyou blank as my husband or wife

(02:13):
to lie together, as friend andmate.
I love you not only for theperson you are you can fill that
in with man or woman but forthe person, man or woman, you
have made me.
I will love you as a person, respect you as an equal, sharing

(02:35):
joy as well as sorrow, triumphas well as defeat, and I will
always make room for you in mylife.
Very simple, very easy.
I love ones that aren't supercomplicated but really do work

(02:56):
to encompass the ups and downs, the give and take that needs to
be in relationships and I'm sureyou can hear, with these
there's certain cadences to them, rhythmic and word selection.
So take that all into account.
Next time we're going to diveinto some custom vow options,

(03:18):
including vow volley.
I'm going to see if I canconvince my husband to get on
with me and help me out.
Until next time, this has beenAmanda.
