(00:04):
The wooden cricket. Whoo boy, welcome back to the
Wooden Cricket Podcast. I'm Lawrence and I'm so glad
you're back here again today. Yesterday we started with our
(00:26):
part one of our two-part little series.
Here we walk through the Old Testament, tracing the goodness
of God and seeing how Jesus was there all along for shadowed and
prophecy present and fire promised in every sacrifice.
Today in Part 2, we're stepping into the New Testament to
witness those promises fulfilled.
(00:47):
The shadows become substance, the whisper becomes a shout, and
Jesus, the Lamb of God steps fully into the light.
Let's open the word together andfollow the thread We're going to
start in John chapter one, verse29.
As always, I'm using the NLT version of the Bible because
it's easier for me to read and explain.
(01:07):
I do have King James Version which I study on my own time at
home. Got that Bible for my grandpa so
when he used to use so but we started John chapter one verse
29 and it says the next day Johnsaw Jesus coming toward him and
said look the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
(01:27):
This is no casual statement. John is pointing to the ultimate
answer to sin and to suffering. The Lamb of God, not a lamb.
The lamb has arrived. Every lamb sacrificed in the
temple, every drop of blood spilled in Levitical ritual, all
(01:48):
of it was preparing hearts for this moment.
And now he's here. Jesus doesn't just temporarily
cover sin like the lambs of old,He removes it forever.
That's not just good news, that's world altering truth.
You and I no longer need to strive to be made right.
We are invited to come boldly covered in the blood of the Lamb
(02:12):
who walked among us. This should stir up some
awareness, really. The Lamb of God walked through
our dust to remove our shame. He didn't just come to teach, He
came to save, and He came for you and He came for me.
So let that sink in real deep. You're not forgotten.
(02:32):
You are the reason He came. We moved forward to Luke chapter
24, verse 44. Then he said, when I was with
you before, I told you that everything written about me in
the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must
be fulfilled. This verse is like Jesus drawing
(02:54):
a line through the entire Old Testament and signing His name
at the end. The Law, the prophets, the
Psalms, they all echo His coming.
This isn't coincidence, it's divine coordination.
God was writing a single seamless story, and now Jesus
makes it plain every part pointed to him.
(03:17):
That truth should ignite a fire in our faith.
The Bible isn't just a spiritualguidebook, it's the living,
breathing story of redemption. And Jesus is on every page.
What did we study yesterday in episode 27?
Abrahams ram, the Passover blood.
Isaiah's suffering servant, Jesus now declares fulfilled in
(03:39):
Himself. When we feel like God is distant
or quiet, this verse reminds us that He's always been present,
working, revealing, preparing. He keeps His word not just then,
but now and always. You can trust the God who
fulfills every promise to fulfill His promises in your
(04:01):
life too. Matthew 27 verse 46 about 3:00.
Jesus called out with a loud voice.
Eli. Eli Lama Sabachthani, which
means My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
And some 22 we see it say, My God, my God, why have you
(04:25):
abandoned me? I am scorned and despised.
They have pierced my hands and feet.
They divided my garments among themselves and throw dice for my
clothing. This cry from the cross isn't
just emotional anguish. It's prophetic precision.
(04:47):
Jesus is quoting Psalm 22 as he hangs in agony, not just to
express pain, but to shine a spotlight on the fulfillment of
Scripture in real time. Every word David wrote hundreds
of years earlier is unfolding right before their eyes.
But here's the depth of it. Jesus bore abandonment so that
we never have to. He absorbed the fullness of
(05:10):
wrath not because he deserved it, but because we did.
This is the centre of the gospel, the innocent one
rejected so the guilty could be accepted.
That's the goodness of God, to give what we don't deserve and
to take what we couldn't carry. And in your darkest hour, when
you feel alone, remember this moment.
(05:32):
Jesus knows abandonment. He's felt it, and now he
promises to never leave you. That's redemption in its Ross
form. Luke chapter 4.
The scroll of Isaiah the prophetwas handed to him.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me.
(05:53):
He has sent me to proclaim that the time of the Lord's favour
has come. The Scripture you've just heard
has been fulfilled this very day.
This is the mic drop moment for Jesus's early ministry.
He reads the promise. Healing for the broken, freedom
for the captive, Sight for the blind.
(06:16):
And he says it's me. This isn't just an announcement,
it's an inauguration. The Kingdom of God is breaking
through. Jesus is saying the time is now,
the favor of God is here, and restoration is real.
If you've ever questioned your worth, if you've ever wondered
(06:36):
if healing is possible, if you've ever asked whether you're
too far gone, this is your answer.
The favor of the Lord has come, and Jesus brings it right to
your doorstep. The goodness of God doesn't wait
for us to climb the mountain. It comes down to meet us in our
valleys. That's the beauty of the Gospel.
(06:58):
We move on to Revelation in chapter 1, verses 17 and 18.
But he laid his right hand on meand said don't be afraid, I'm
the 1st and the last. I'm the living one.
I died. But look, I'm alive forever and
(07:18):
ever, and I hold the keys of death and the grave.
Here's the crescendo of all scripture.
The Lamb who was slain is the lion who reigns.
Jesus isn't just alive, he's holding the keys.
Keys mean authority. Keys mean ownership.
(07:42):
Death is no longer the end, justthe doorway.
This is the final word on fear. Don't be afraid, he says.
Why? Because He conquered the worst
thing imaginable, now He holds the power over it.
If you ever felt haunted by yourpast or afraid of your future,
(08:05):
this is your anchor. Jesus is alive.
He holds the keys and no chain can stay locked when he steps
into the room. The goodness of God ends not
with sorrow, but with victory, and we get to live from that
victory today, from the garden to the fire, from the cross to
(08:29):
the crown. The Bible is not a book of
random stories. It's one big story and Jesus is
the centre. He was the seed of the Lamb of
Abraham, the blood of the Passover, the suffering servant,
the 4th man in the fire, the Word made flesh, the King risen
(08:49):
in glory. The shadows were never the end,
they were the setup of the Savior.
And now that we've seen him clearly, we can't stay silent.
You and I, we have a generational responsibility to
spread the good news of Jesus, to echo the story, to speak the
(09:10):
name, to carry the flame. Because this isn't just history.
This is the heartbeat of heaven. And you, you were born for such
a time as this. When we look back at Part 1, we
saw Jesus walking through the Old Testament like a shadow cast
before sunrise. Every promise, every picture,
(09:33):
every prophetic word whispered of him.
And now, in Part 2, we've watched those shadows become
real, tangible, fulfilled in thelife, death, and resurrection of
Jesus. But this story doesn't stop at
Revelation. It continues in US.
Every day we wake up with breathin our lungs is a new
(09:54):
opportunity to walk in the lightof the fulfilled promise to live
like the Lamb of God really did, take away the sins of the world.
Following Jesus isn't just a belief system.
It's a relationship with the Onewho stepped into history to
rescue us, to redeem us, and to restore us.
(10:15):
And in Him we find purpose, in Him we find peace.
And through Him, we now become part of the story.
So go today, knowing that your life matters.
In this great unfolding plan of God, the Savior who was promised
and fulfilled now lives in you. Shine His light, speak His
(10:37):
truth, and walk His love. And never forget, you are deeply
knowing, eternally loved and called to carry this gospel to
the next generation. My friends, if this episode

that kind of good stuff with this podcast or somebody that

(10:59):
Jesus far and wide. You can follow the wooden
