(00:00):
What's up family? Happy Saturday, happy November
the 1st. And to my youngest son, Peyton,
happy birthday, my dude. And to everybody else, welcome
back to the Wooden Cricket Podcast.
I'm Lawrence. And today we stay right in our
new series, The Teachings of Jesus.

(00:22):
Yesterday we talked about prayerin the Lord's Prayer, and today
Jesus gives us something that hits all of us.
How do we handle treasure? Wealth gain in value, and this
one matters because the world tells us to build the brand,

(00:44):
stack the dollars, raise the status, but Jesus flips all of
that upside down. In Matthew chapter 6 verse 19 to
21, it says these words, Don't store up treasures here on
earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where
thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven,

(01:08):
where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not
break in and steal wherever yourtreasure is.
They're the desires of your heart will also be Jesus is
saying the things that matter most cannot be stolen, cannot be

(01:30):
rusted, cannot be burned up, andcannot be taken from you.
Not money, not status, not comfort, not clout, but him,
Jesus, salvation, forgiveness, mercy, love, heavenly treasure

(01:51):
is eternal. And Jesus keeps going.
Verse 22 Your eye is like a lampthat provides light for your
body. When your eye is healthy, your
whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy,
your whole body is filled with darkness.

(02:12):
And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how
deep that darkness is. Jesus is warning us, if your
focus is off, your whole life isoff.
If you focus on money, you'll chase it.
If you focus on Jesus, you'll chase Him, and one of those

(02:36):
roads leads to life. Then Jesus shows us a picture
and we're going to switch gears here to Luke chapter 12, verses
13 to 21. Then someone called from the
crowd. Teacher, please tell my brother
to divide our Father's estate with me, Jesus replied.

(03:00):
Friend who made me a judge over you to decide such things as
that. Then he said beware, guard
against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much
you own. Then he told them a story.
A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops.

(03:25):
He said to himself, What should I do?
I don't have room for all my crops then, he said.
I know I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones.
Then I'll have room enough to store all my wheat and other
goods, and I'll sit back and sayto myself, my friend, you have

(03:45):
enough stored away for years to come.
Now take it easy, eat, drink andbe merry.
But God said to him, You fool, you will die this very night.
Then who will get everything youworked for?
Yes, a person is a fool to storeup earthly wealth but not have a

(04:07):
rich relationship with God. Jesus isn't saying here that the
money is evil. Who sing this?
Money is a terrible master, but Jesus is a perfect one.
Earthly wealth isn't wrong, but when it becomes the goal, it

(04:31):
becomes an idol. So today, Saturday, November
1st, before the errands, before the game, nights before
scrolling, look at your treasure.
Look at what you value. Look at what you chase and don't

(04:53):
forget, heaven is real. Jesus is real and His Kingdom is
the only treasure that lasts in family.
If you don't have a church home to call your own, you should
check out Calvary Temple online tomorrow.

(05:13):
Until you find your own local crew, keep growing.
Keep planting seeds and keep chasing Jesus and today be a
bright light in a dark place. Until tomorrow I'm out.
Peace.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
