The façade has crumbled. What we're experiencing in America today isn't simply a political divide—it's a fundamental crisis of humanity.

Democracy is failing before our eyes. Fascist policies advance unchecked, detention facilities dubbed "alligator Alcatraz" appear in headlines, billionaires accumulate unprecedented wealth, and perhaps most disturbingly, a significant portion of Americans seem completely unbothered by it all. This episode takes an unflinchingly honest look at our current national nightmare, questioning whether our problems stem from politics at all or something far more fundamental: human nature itself.

After years of framing our divisions as Republican versus Democrat, conservative versus liberal, the painful truth emerges—our political system isn't broken, it's functioning exactly as designed. Both parties have contributed to our current predicament, suggesting the real division isn't red versus blue but between the wealthy elite and everyone else. The rich provide just enough to keep people entertained and docile while extracting maximum profit from the working class.

The most gut-wrenching realization? Approximately one-third of Americans actively care about their fellow citizens, another third are actively harmful, and the final third watch passively from the sidelines. How do you fix humanity when so many people simply don't care about anyone but themselves? Where can we find hope when winning political battles matters more than basic human decency? Is civil disobedience our only remaining option as traditional protests prove insufficient against escalating state power?

Join this raw, unfiltered exploration of America's deepest wounds. If you're feeling equally lost and searching for perspective, reach out to continue this essential conversation in a future episode. We need each other now more than ever.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello and welcome to this fucking country.
My name is Greg.
Thank you for listening.
Today I want to spend some timejust talking about where we're
at, but why we're there.
I'm warning you ahead of timeI'm very depressed.
Things are not going well.
The big bill just got passed.
There's press about thisalligator Alcatraz being

(00:24):
constructed.
There's press about thisalligator Alcatraz being
constructed.
This country is certainly a shitshow right now and seems to be
fascist in every capacity.
The billionaires are gettingricher, everyone else is getting
poorer and so much of ourpopulation doesn't seem to give
a shit.
And that's kind of like what Iwant to reflect on today.

(00:44):
I don't really have a point.
I'm just lost at this point andI feel like I need to just kind
of say it out loud.
I've been talking about thepolitical side of things for
years now.
I've been thinking about usversus them, republicans versus
Democrats, billionaires versusthe poor, the whole class system

(01:05):
, everything that's happening inAmerica and probably has been a
reality in America forgenerations since the country
was formed.
But I think this is like aturning point for how bad things
might be, and will it be theend of our country as we know it
?
I don't know we might bounceback from this.
I can't imagine how or whenit's possible, but what dawned

(01:29):
on me recently in my state ofdepression was that it's not
politics.
Politics is just this bullshitshow that we've been led to
believe means something, and itdoesn't, because if you look at
the history of how we got here,I mean we didn't get here only
because one party.
We got here because bothparties basically had this

(01:52):
happen.
So it's been happening fordecades.
We've been on this path.
They've been very clear andopen and honest about what they
plan to do.
Nobody seemed to do anything,so it does make you wonder that
both parties are complicit.
I don't think anyone gives ashit, because all the
politicians are getting rich.
There's probably a handful ofpoliticians out there that are

(02:14):
upstanding people.
I don't know if there's anyRepublicans anymore, because it
seems like any Republicans thathad any kind of moral code have
just stopped running.
Cheney surprised me, adamKinzinger seemed to have some
kind of a moral compass andthey're like fuck this, I'm out
Now.
Mind you, I don't like the waythey voted.

(02:35):
If I look at their votinghistory, it was shit and it was
all along the lines ofRepublicans and Trump the whole
time.
It's just when Trump became ananarchist, which is when they
decided that, okay, that's toomuch, but the rest of the time
they were with him, theDemocrats were going along with
everything.
It's like, oh, we can't doanything, what can we do?
It's sad and it's just weak.

(02:57):
It's just sad and weak that Ijust can't believe that we, as
Americans, have believed thisshit for so long.
What seems very clear right nowis that this is, and always has
been, just a class system.
It's just the rich versus thepoor.
The rich need the poor becausethey need their working class to
make them richer.

(03:17):
So they have to keep us alive, they have to keep things in
check, they have to keep peopleentertained enough so that
they're not asking questions orrebelling, they just.
Otherwise they don't make theirmoney.
And if they don't make theirmoney, well, my God, then
they're not going to be happy.
It's like the breadcrumbs justenough to keep everybody happy.
Keep enough everybody stupidand things move forward and they

(03:39):
get richer and the countrymeans nothing.
So what dawned on me, finally,is that politics is bullshit.
Okay, it's the game we use tomake sense of this shit, which
doesn't really make sense.
What it really is about ishumanity, us as people.
And that's even more depressingbecause, when you think about

(04:02):
it, all boils down to people.
Okay, people either choosing totake care of each other or not,
and it seems like there is apercentage of people, at least
in this country, that reallydon't give a shit about anybody
but themselves.
It is so disheartening, it isfoul.

(04:24):
There are so many people that Ihave known over the years who
are Republican, who will stillvote for Trump Now.
I have to assume that they'rejust not paying attention, that
they're just watching Fox Newsand they're being fed whatever
bullshit Fox is feeding peopleand that they're okay with that.
They've got their life, they'remaking money, they're happy,
they've got a family.
They don't want to get tooinvolved.

(04:45):
All the shit that's happeningdoesn't seem to be affecting
them yet.
So you know, fuck it, I'm goingto ignore it.
My wife has this belief thatit's going to work out, that
this is a country that's beenhere for a while and has had bad
times before and it's going toall work out.
I disagree with her.
I think this is something new,and I think this is something
new and I think this issomething dangerous, only
because people don't give a shit.

(05:07):
Now maybe they never have.
I'm coming to that conclusionthat I don't think people really
have ever given a shit abouteach other.
I think there's a smallpercentage of people who truly
care.
Again, I can split this into apolitical party, because it does
seem.
The Democrats want to pass lawsso that everybody has a

(05:28):
fighting chance, whereasRepublicans are like you know
fuck everyone else, we've gotours.
They seem to be reallyconcerned with winning.
They don't seem to care thatTrump is a felon or a criminal
or just a horrible human being.
They just love the fact thatthey're winning and they're
making all the liberals sad andupset.

(05:49):
That seems to really befulfilling for them, which,
again, very disheartening, isthat they're not thinking about
what's happening to other people, or maybe they are and they're
okay with it.
I honestly cannot figure outwhat exactly is going on, but
everything points to humanitybeing just disgusting, and I

(06:13):
don't know how you get away fromthat, because as long as I
thought it was politics, then itwas like something we could
fight for.
But if it's humanity, ifhumanity itself is flawed, which
I truly believe it is, thenwe're fucked.
I mean, how do you fix humanity?
You can't convince somebody tocare for somebody else.
So what do we do?
I used to think that, oh well, you know, the Republicans would

(06:36):
win, we would win, the Democratswould win.
It'd go back and forth and theRepublicans would drive us into
debt and they would take care ofthe rich people and the
Democrats would come into powerand they would pass some great
laws.
And then you get thisRepublican administration coming
in and it's trying to take allthat shit away and undo it all.
So many people don't seem tocare and I don't know what to do

(06:59):
with that.
I don't want to be aroundpeople anymore.
I've got a handful of peoplethat I know and I love, who are
like-minded, and they're just asangry and they're just as sad
and depressed as I am.
And thank God I have thembecause you know, I don't feel
completely alone.
But I don't want to be aroundpeople anymore.

(07:20):
I don't want to be in crowds ofpeople, because all I could
think of is what kind of a humanbeing are you?
There's a 50-50 chance they'rejust a horrible human being who
doesn't give a fuck aboutanybody but themselves.
And again, what do you do withthat?
How do you fix that?
I don't believe in any kind ofGod or religion, so I can't find
any kind of hope orpeacefulness there.

(07:43):
You know, the people who claimto be Christians seem to be the
shittiest fucking people in thiscountry.
So where do you go from here?
Where do you go?
I mean, I've gotten somehappiness, I've gotten some
positivity, watching peoplemarch, watching people go into
the streets and fight and dowhat they think is right.

(08:03):
So I know there are good peopleout there.
I know there's people out therewho care, but I think we're
outnumbered.
I mean, I think we're greatlyoutnumbered.
I think there's a saying aboutthere's a third of the country
would murder another third ofthe country while a third of the
country watched.
I think that's true, whichbasically means there's a third

(08:27):
of humanity that actually give ashit.
The other third are horrible, and then there's a third that
just doesn't care.
What do you do with that?
I just don't know.
I have days where I just wantto give up, but I have three
children that I very much loveand adore and I can't quit and
leave this world the way it is,the way it's going for them to

(08:50):
be stuck with these kids, these, this new generation will be,
will be stuck.
All this debt, all this shit,it's all gonna be on them.
I'll be dead.
So it's.
My children are gonna sufferbecause of these fucking
horrible people and I.
I can't have that happen.
I have never in my life been aviolent person, but these days I

(09:10):
have my CCL and I carry my guneverywhere because I don't trust
anybody.
I think we live in an unlawful, unlawful nation with unlawful
agencies and government thatwill just steal people, kidnap
them, take them and make themdisappear, and I can't have that
happen to my family.
I just don't have an answer.

(09:33):
I don't know if there is ananswer.
I keep hoping that patriots willappear, people who are within
the administration, who seewhat's going on and feel that
something has to be done.
I'm close enough to make adifference and I'm going to do
something.
I hope for that.
I don't think that's going tohappen, but I do hope for that.

(09:54):
I also hope for naturalcatastrophes.
I hate to admit that, but thefact of the matter is I don't
see anything changing unlessmother nature kind of gets
involved and some shit hits thefan.
We have some horrible storms,as I'm sure we will.
We're not prepared for it.
We don't have people and placesto take care of it.
Fema is being disappeared, sothere will be no help coming

(10:17):
from the government and, again,I only hope that these
catastrophes are hitting redstates, the people who voted for
Trump.
I have no doubt that they willnot learn from this, that they
will simply buy whateverbullshit Fox News tells them oh
yeah, this is all Biden's faultfrom before, or whatever kind of

(10:37):
shit they spin.
I have no doubt that they'llbelieve this, even with flooding
going on in Texas.
They're just they're going tospin it, so it sounds like it's
not their fault.
And people again these fuckingpeople believe it.
What do you do with that?
How can you change people'sminds and hearts?
I don't see a way.
I do not see a way out of this.
So, with that being said, withmy utter state of despair out

(11:01):
there for everybody to enjoy, there are things we can do.
If we bring it back down toeveryday politics, there are
lots of things we could do.
There is boycotting.
We could shut down the entiresystem, which I think is going
to have to happen.
I think everyone's going tohave to just stay home.
I don't know if that's veryrealistic, because people still

(11:23):
have to live, they have to makea living, but something's got to
happen on a grand scale, andit's possible.
But again we get back to thehumanity thing.
Where can you get enough peopleto just shut it all down?
Do the right thing to make adifference.
Can you convince people whodon't really seem to give a shit

(11:46):
about anyone else that theyneed to get involved and they
need to care?
Can we do that?
I know there's some greatorganizations out there.
They're continuously fighting,they're continuously bringing
lawsuits, they're continuouslysetting up protests and marches,
and that's fantastic and I hopethey keep moving on with that.
I think it's time for thesesame organizations, though, to

(12:09):
up the game and create more of acivil disobedience, a protest,
something a little bit moresevere, a little bit more in
your face.
I don't know if they'll do that.
I don't know if anyorganization will do that.
I know it's going to be hard tokind of run something like that
and keep it under the radar, but things have got to change
and it's going to take more thanjust people in the street doing

(12:29):
this, because I think, now thatwe know that the budget for ICE
has been increased by what?
20 times, something insane.
I know they're just going to behiring more of these fucking
KKK goons.
They're going to be masked andarmed and I have no doubt that
the Marines and everyone else isgoing to be getting orders to

(12:49):
start shooting people at will.
I'm sure that's coming down.
I have no doubt civil war iscoming.
I just hope that we can dosomething about it.
How do you fight humanity whenhumanity sucks?
I don't know.
I told you this was going to bedepressing and I delivered.
I would love to have thisconversation again if anybody

(13:11):
would like to come on with meand give me a sense of hope or a
spin this in some way.
That would be interesting anduseful for a future podcast.
So until then, thanks forlistening and we'll see you soon
