Speaker 00 (00:00):
Hi, I'm Mayor Keegan
Schmicker with our next episode
of the Tipton Thrives podcast.
And today we've got an excitingand I guarantee a funny episode
with Jack Wagons Car Club.
We have Heath Moreland andBrian Roberts with us today.
I just want to jump right inand start with the name.
And if I can't, because...
You hear the term jack wagons.
Maybe my father has called methat on time or two.
(00:22):
I had to look it up, but I justwant to ask.
There's a couple differentdefinitions.
I just want to be very clear toour audience members exactly
what definition you're stickingwith.
Of course, jack wagon is aslang term.
Sometimes it's definition one, loser, someone who is totally
worthless.
Speaker 02 (00:40):
That's part of it.
Speaker 00 (00:41):
Definition two,
lame, whiny, pathetic, sissy
punk looking for a pity party.
Speaker 02 (00:46):
That's part of them,
Speaker 00 (00:47):
too.
Someone who annoys the crap outof you?
Very rude?
Speaker 02 (00:50):
That's absolutely a
good one.
Speaker 00 (00:51):
Or the last
definition, a person who does
not understand how to driveaccording to the rules of the
road.
Which of those definitions?
Could you be very specific sowe know for obvious?
I would probably say all ofthose.
Oh, so it's actually acombination of all
Speaker 03 (01:03):
of them.
The most appropriate answerwould be yes.
Okay.
Yes.
I think you covered
Speaker 01 (01:09):
it all pretty well.
Speaker 00 (01:11):
Well, of course, as
you guys know and have been
educating me, in fact, just afew months ago, a Brian, you
were talking to me about thequarter mile.
Speaker 03 (01:19):
Quarter mile.
Quarter mile.
Speaker 00 (01:21):
Car clubs are not
new to Tipton County.
In fact, it's got asignificantly rich history.
So if you can, briefly, sort oftalk about that.
Why maybe even from yourmembers' perspective, why it's
been so important and whythis...
I think renaissance really inthe car club.
I think you can
Speaker 02 (01:41):
do that better than
I can because I'm not actually
from here, but I hear the
Speaker 03 (01:44):
story.
Sure.
Well, so my dad and my uncleswere actually in that club.
Speaker 00 (01:49):
Wow.
Speaker 03 (01:50):
And so I am almost
52.
There's pictures of me probablyseven years old, and they would
do two or two-and-a-half-daycar shows inside the 4-H
building.
Unknown (02:02):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 03 (02:03):
And so, in fact,
there's even a story, and it is
legit.
They had hired Porter Wagnerand Dolly Parton to come perform
at one of their car shows.
Really?
And from the time that theysigned their contract to when
the event was, Dolly blew uphuge.
(02:23):
And so, as...
The guys have told us, VicBrown and stuff like that, that
was the only time that the carshow was ever shoulder to
shoulder.
It was packed.
Wow.
But, yeah, so, I mean, even, you know, 45, 50 years ago, car
guys were getting together.
Yeah.
Of course, quarter milers, kindof the connotation of that
(02:46):
would be drag racing.
Sure.
So there was multiple guys thathad drag cars around the area.
Wow.
But there were some other guysthat had show cars.
I don't know if you've heardthe name tossed around, Steve
Tansey.
Yeah.
But Steve Tansey is just aworld-renowned...
car builder, and then hisbuddy, Glenn Urie.
(03:09):
Glenn Urie was kind of hisright-hand man, and both of them
were phenomenal car builders intheir own right.
Both of them were phenomenalpainters in their own right.
They actually have a
Speaker 02 (03:19):
famous car that's
still down in North Carolina
now.
It's the Coke machine.
It's got Coke sides to it, to amachine.
Really?
It's really cool.
Yeah, so
Speaker 03 (03:29):
it's a roughly...
I don't know, probably about a1928 like Model A, but it's been
customized and the side doorshas got the old Coca-Cola
machine doors.
Yeah, for $300,000, it's yours.
Yep, and it was built righthere.
Built right here.
That's phenomenal.
But yeah, so they would go upto Bunker Hill and do drag
(03:53):
racing, but they would also hostcar events.
And then as we've gotten toknow, got to know them even
deeper than seven-year-old me,And by the way, they did have a
clubhouse down on SweetlandAvenue.
My memories as a little guy iswalking into the pool table and
being too little to look up apool table.
(04:13):
But yeah, but I mean, theywould do car shows.
And as we've spoken with Vicand the guys, they were already,
you know, backing differentevents and youth events.
And so again, long before thejack wagon started, Lame idiots
that can't drive and obey therules of the road.
That stuff's been happeninghere in Tipton for a long
Speaker 02 (04:36):
time.
It did go dead for a while.
A few of them parked uptown andAs we traveled around and seen
it in our journey, we said, youknow what, let's get that
started.
Speaker 00 (04:45):
Yeah, so that's a
great segue.
You guys have been nowoperating under this new car
club for how many years?
Three?
Yeah, let's go to third.
Third year?
Yeah, third, fourth year.
And so the, I mean, from dayone, it just seemed like there
was automatic or just naturallythis support.
(05:06):
Folks who, of course, have thecars, and of course, when you
own a car like that, you revelin that opportunity to show it
off.
But how has that response beenfrom the community, resurrecting
this car club and recruitingfolks to participate?
I
Speaker 02 (05:20):
think the first
cruising we had two years ago,
we had 40-some cars.
It was really cool because youhad the old guys that came up
here.
And Heath and I talk about, youknow, when they parked and
we're going and, the smiles ontheir faces of being able to
actually go downtown and park.
Because there for a while, Iguess, back in the day, there
was a rift.
(05:41):
They wouldn't let them parkdowntown no more.
Oh.
Yeah.
And it kind of went away, whatever, you know, in the 60s,
70s, all that stuff.
They probably do it during theJack Wagons.
Oh, yeah.
But just sitting back andseeing the smiles on their
faces, and it still tickles youto this day.
Speaker 03 (05:56):
Yeah, definitely.
It's been really cool.
to see the support.
I think I've told you that thecruise-ins, we average getting
people from just over 30 townsand cities.
So, I mean, people lovedowntown.
In fact, when I started helpingthe Pork Festival and I wanted
(06:17):
to move the Pork Festival showfrom the park into downtown, I
kind of got threatened.
So they love the park for thatshow, but for the cruise-ins...
For the Crewsons, they love ourcourthouse.
We go to places where you mighthave to walk two blocks to get
to a restaurant.
You literally walk across theroad here.
(06:38):
Or in the case of the Mad Tap,you just walk up the corner.
Speaker 02 (06:43):
Yep.
That's the other thing, too.
People would always say, we'reso glad that Tipton is back in
the car scene.
Yeah.
And, I mean, that's it.
Yeah.
That's been like, wow, youknow, that's kind of cool.
So then you start, again, goback to the history of it,
right?
You start learning and seeingthe cool people coming.
It came over when they wereprobably in their 20s and 30s.
They're now 70s, 80s with theircars.
Right.
Pretty cool.
Speaker 00 (07:04):
Yeah, so over that
time, of course, gaining some
more attention, more support.
As you've mentioned, you guysare attracting folks from
30-plus communities across thestate.
Yeah.
which is where my interestlies.
You know, this is a greatopportunity to introduce people
to the city of Tipton whodoesn't love a car show.
I mean, just to take kids orother family members and see the
(07:26):
interesting cars that I'vecertainly, maybe I saw some of
these when I was young, butmostly in magazines and TV shows
and to see these works of art.
And you can see that thepassion invested in those.
So yeah, Talking now, we'regetting ready to head into car
show season, right?
Weather's turning.
You wouldn't know it today, buta little windy and cold.
(07:49):
But right around the corner, you guys have a show coming up.
Yes.
Here in May.
Tell us a little bit aboutthat.
Go,
Speaker 02 (07:56):
Brian.
I'm doing Friday nightcruisings this year, right?
So we'll be on the firstFridays.
Yep.
Our passion's always been, evenwhen we did this two years ago,
was we wanted to promote thecity.
Yep.
And now we have the opportunityto jump in with all these great
entities downtown to show themoff.
(08:17):
And, again, it's neat to watchpeople go, man, that's a neat
store.
And there's no credit to ours.
It's just getting people tocome to our city.
So the way that we'veapproached this is that we're
doing this, and these people areguests of our town.
How can we make them feelcomfortable?
in our town and know that we'rea giving town and a good town.
(08:37):
That's the whole, in ouropinion, the whole just move to
that.
Speaker 03 (08:41):
Yeah, and just to
kind of dovetail off of that,
from the jump, you know, as carpeople that go all around the
state, you know, we drive twoand a half hours one way to go
to car shows.
Sure.
And so we have that uniqueperspective of seeing the other
towns and coming back home andbeing like, oh, my goodness,
(09:03):
Tipton has got so much to offer.
People need to see this town.
And so previously we've been onthe third Friday, but when an
opportunity came up to join upwith the local shops on the
first Friday, that's where ourheart's been from the jump.
Yep.
And so now we're going to dofirst Fridays when the shops are
(09:27):
open.
Yep.
You know, one of my things is,you know, asking for volunteers
is a way for Brian and I tobreak away and anybody else in
our core group to make sure thatwe go and acknowledge, tip our
hat, say hi, conversation toevery person that's there.
When they come, we want them tohave an experience in Tipton.
(09:49):
Now, we want it to be cool likean event, but we want them to
leave with the experience ofcoming to Tipton.
And that's the shopping.
That's the food.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Speaker 02 (10:00):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And we've got to show them thebest time we can and stuff.
(10:24):
Again, so then we flip to oursponsors that we pick up, right?
How can we promote our sponsorsfor the least amount of money
to give them the best quality ofshowing that we can?
I don't know, but our sponsorsare amazing.
We've tripled this year.
So grateful for that.
Yeah.
And, you know, we just enjoyit.
Now we're shooting videos atpeople's stores, and they're
(10:45):
just doing crazy stuff.
Yeah.
You know, with the car show, though, that night, we'll start
parking cars downtown about4.30.
Yeah.
No earlier.
No earlier.
Yeah, no earlier.
And then, you know, we gotbands this year, and we're going
to obviously promote ourdowntown.
Yep.
But we reached out for foodtrucks.
So we got two local ones comingto the first one.
Cool.
Then after the next three...
(11:06):
We reached out.
So we got a food truck comingfrom Fishers.
We're excited about the August.
We'll get to that later.
But we have a food truck comingfrom Lafayette that's just
amazing.
So we've tried to bring otherpeople in.
Speaker 00 (11:19):
Yeah, absolutely.
So you have a band coming May,is it May 2nd?
Yes,
Speaker 03 (11:24):
the first one's
Friday, May 2nd.
The band will be the TimeTravelers out of the
Kokomo-Galveston area.
Anybody that was at the 4-HFair last year that might have
went to see them as a former...
band member, people come to me,oh, have you ever seen this
band?
And I had all kinds of peoplecome.
(11:46):
Like, okay, they're on thelist.
Absolutely.
And then, Brian, the foodtrucks, I think you said, were
doing...
They're local at night.
They're local.
So, I mean, Bogey's Tacos willbe there.
Okay.
And is the E.T.
Dinner going?
E.T.
Dinner.
Very good.
And then...
Right now, the dessert truck, Ithink, is open.
Speaker 02 (12:04):
Yeah, but we got,
who else is that little guy?
Kiwanis.
Kiwanis.
We love the Kiwanis.
They come down.
Them guys are great.
Hey, get up here every time.
They're a non-profit also.
And help them out.
We've opened a door for that.
Just tell us.
You want to come up?
Come on.
Speaker 00 (12:17):
Yeah.
I appreciate and what I likeabout the way you guys have just
organically grown this.
And through the success andexcitement, now folks are
reaching out to support, becomesponsors.
Yeah.
Before I transition to thesponsors, the way you're working
collaboratively with thedowntown community, you said by
(12:38):
invitation, would you guys mindjoining our event?
We're now leveraging effortsfrom a variety of groups and
concentrating.
How can we not only leverageyour audience with the car shows
and the visitors to that, butthen The activities are already
taking place, already beingprogrammed by the First Fridays
(12:59):
group.
Now we're actually commingling, maybe demographics that
wouldn't otherwise commingle.
Now the folks who would come toHorton's for the First Fridays
maybe have never been to a carshow or just it's never hit
that.
Now that they're there, like,why wouldn't I?
Because it's already anopportunity.
And then conversely, youraudience kind of is like, we
(13:20):
didn't come here to shop.
We came for the car show, butagain, went and tipped in.
Why not?
So that's what I love aboutthis.
The other
Speaker 02 (13:27):
factor is too, you
know, now, now the husband's got
a reason to come to Tipton.
Yeah.
So now they can go out to warmbikes first.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
Sure.
We've even thought about thatback then.
There are guys, there arepeople that, you know, there are
a lot of wives that come withtheir husbands.
Yep.
And there's been a couple oftimes they've come in, oh, the
shops aren't open.
Right.
Now guess what?
They're open.
Yep.
And there was one car show wehad last year.
(13:47):
It was on a Saturday.
Yep.
And, uh, I'm not good withnames here.
The place right off the sidethere, the bargain place, uh,
Oh, Tim's.
Yeah, Tim's.
And the place on the southside, they were ecstatic on just
that one car show.
Yeah.
Because these people walkaround their place, you know.
Speaker 03 (14:03):
Sure.
And I was like, yeah, that'swhat it's about, right?
Correct.
It's about growing and growingagain.
And since Tim's has evenstocked some of those 10 signs
that are all automotive-based,he's got a whole car people out
there go, yeah.
But he's got a whole two orthree shelves of just car stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Cool.
That's fantastic.
Yeah.
It's awesome.
But, I mean, I don't want toget too far ahead here on you,
(14:26):
but one of the things I did wantto say about, you know, the
shopping and stuff like that inTipton, you know, we had an
event where we were doingsomething downtown in December,
and we had a couple ladies thatcame by that were from Muncie,
and it was their first time everbeing in Tipton to shop.
Speaker 00 (14:42):
Wow.
Speaker 03 (14:43):
And so they were
asking, hey, are there any more
shops down here?
And they were pointing eastdown 28.
And we're like, yeah.
Urban Homestead and Anchored inHope is down there.
And, of course, SecondBlessings.
My daughter's 26.
She and her friends love to gothrifting.
They love it.
I'm like, absolutely, there'smore.
They're like, this is thebest-kept secret in all
Speaker 00 (15:04):
of Indiana.
That is fantastic.
Speaker 02 (15:06):
You'll hear that a
lot.
More than I think people reallyneed to hear that.
Don't believe it.
It's the truth.
As far as car guys go, again, you talk about us going to other
towns and stuff.
This town's got a littlesomething.
Oh, you're the Tipton Show.
Speaker 03 (15:17):
Yeah, that's...
It's humbling.
Cool.
It's like, yeah.
Speaker 00 (15:21):
That is very cool.
So then your sponsors have, Ithink...
Maybe you said you tripled thenumber of supporters this year.
How many folks do you gotsupporting the Jack Wagons Car
Club this year?
Speaker 03 (15:33):
Well, it's enough
that I had to print off a list.
So, I mean, on top of beingJack Wagons, you know, and over
50.
Speaker 02 (15:42):
The thing of it is,
you've got locals as far as, and
then we've got people as far asLafayette and Sheridan.
Oh, so it's not even justlocal.
We've got people that arecalling us and saying, hey, we
would like to get in on that.
This is really interesting.
Who are you?
And thank you.
You know what I mean?
Well, so-and-so said, you gotthis.
So it's like, wow.
You know, again, we're doingthis because we want to give
(16:04):
back to our community and care.
You know what I mean?
So it's kind of cool to seeother people see that engagement
in your community that wants tocome and join us.
Speaker 03 (16:12):
Yeah.
Well, in fact, our firstsponsor ever.
We were starting to do more andmore cruisings and stuff.
And Brian got me using thisproduct called Jack's Wax.
It's a car show.
It's a little bit above yourarmor rolls and requires and
stuff like that.
But anyway, so he got me usingit.
(16:33):
And so we kind of had thislittle meeting about some ideas
and like, hey, we want tosupport the kids in our area.
We want to support the veteransin our area.
And he goes...
Our friend, our dealer.
Yeah, he's on the speed dial.
Yeah, our dealer goes back tohis shop owner, and Jack's Wax
(16:56):
of Lafayette, just off of 26there by the Walmart in 65, they
were our first ever sponsor.
Wow.
And they've been on from thejump and are still on.
Wow.
And so now we have sponsors outof Sharpsville, Greentown,
Sheridan.
If you want to count, ourdiamond sponsor this year is
(17:21):
Lisa Stokes Bayer.
Yeah.
Century 21.
Absolutely.
Now, she has roots in Tipton.
Absolutely.
It goes beyond graduating fromTipton.
She and I were in the samefifth grade play.
Oh.
Lisa played Georgie, DavyCrockett.
I got you, girl.
But, yeah, so.
Was he the Bayer?
(17:42):
No, ironically, Georgieactually stuttered, and the only
time she didn't stutter was ifshe sang.
What?
I know.
That's what I'm talking about.
So, time to up the voltage.
I have no idea what they're
Speaker 02 (17:57):
talking about.
Yeah, we'll lose you.
Listen, if we stay here toolong, we're
Speaker 03 (18:01):
being good right
now.
But, yeah, so, I mean, youknow, it's probably just as
easy, and, boy, I hope that Ihaven't forgotten anybody,
but...
Yeah,
Speaker 00 (18:11):
that list was
outdated the moment you printed
it, right?
Folks are reaching out everyday.
I
Speaker 02 (18:15):
had to tweak it.
As I told you, our email, wekind of oopsied it.
And then he's called and said, hey, this one group.
And then I get on there, I'mlike, oh, wow, we got– One that
we didn't, you know, we justthrow it out there, right?
Yeah.
I'm like, hey, here we are.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
And that just happened, what,
Speaker 03 (18:30):
two weeks ago, three
weeks ago?
A couple weeks ago.
Cool.
The nickname definitely fits.
Speaker 00 (18:37):
We are learning
this.
As we
Speaker 03 (18:38):
tried to become more
official and a little more
streamlined and get some of thatdata collection down to one
spot, as we were putting outsponsors, we decided to use the
Jack Wagons website.
It's Gmail, isn't it?
Gmail.
Yahoo.
It's Yahoo.
See, I'm
Speaker 00 (18:56):
going to mail it.
Trying to log into the wrongGmail.
Unknown (19:00):
Neither Brian nor I
thought to put...
Speaker 00 (19:03):
the mailbox on
either one of our phones,
somebody...
Because that over 50 thing youwere talking about.
I'm telling you, I'm
Speaker 03 (19:11):
telling you.
Yeah, I'm writing a checktoday.
But yeah, so a best one ofTipton gets a hold of us, like,
hey, answer my email or call meor something.
And Brian and I are looking ateach other like, what are you?
And so we open up the email.
IU Health is in there.
Best One is in there.
It's like, we're idiots, butwe're so sorry.
(19:33):
It's been really
Speaker 02 (19:35):
cool.
Speaker 03 (19:35):
But yeah, so if you
don't mind.
No, please do.
Yeah, Lisa Stokes Bayer Century21 is our top diamond sponsor.
Platinum sponsors, MoonlightServices, Powder Coating and
Plasma Cutting.
That's out of the Greentownarea.
Rocky Top Laser Designs.
If anybody bought hats from us,last year.
(19:57):
That's them.
Urban Homestead is also aplatinum sponsor.
Did you want to go through anyof these?
You're
Speaker 02 (20:06):
doing a fantastic
job.
Speaker 03 (20:09):
Gold Level sponsor,
E Street Provisions.
Shout out to them and the1844s.
Tipton Ford, love having thecar people on.
Tipton Ford, Guffey's Garage,Jack's Wax of Lafayette, Mud
Creek Metalworks out ofSharpsville.
They are the fabricators, designers of the Veterans Park
(20:31):
Bench.
Oh, yeah.
That is being donated.
Longtime staple, the SouthPole.
Pfeiffer's Fitness, PfeifferEdwards Insurance, our shirts
this year.
If the public wants t-shirts, Ithink we can make that happen
this year.
We connected with one of thefarmer's market vendors, Jessica
(20:52):
Kendall Sparker, Sparky'sQuirky Creations.
So she's doing our merch thisyear.
The Greenhouse Cafe slash LoveBug Food Truck.
Smash Burgers.
Duke Energy, Dan YoungChevrolet GMC.
Beck's Hybrids, Larson's andSons Target Sports.
That's out of Sheridan.
(21:13):
But they're from here.
Yep.
Yeah.
Yep.
Yep.
So that's cool.
Best One Tipton, they like whatis happening so much.
Their coupon in our pamphlet, they're opening the coupon to
all stores based on the JackWagons promo code.
So there's people watchingwhat's happening in Tipton right
(21:34):
now.
Speaker 00 (21:34):
That's fantastic.
Speaker 03 (21:35):
Silver Level,
Anchored in Hope, Jim Dandy,
MPI, and then our Friends Level,Tipton Pizza King Subway, and
In Memory of Bobby Betts.
So, yeah.
Speaker 02 (21:48):
Just blessed.
I don't know what else to say.
I mean, you know, a lot of thisportion of this money goes to,
of course, we'll get to thatlater, but our scholarship and
things that we do for the kids.
And, again, just totally ourprice point.
You guys are cheap.
We don't want any more money.
We get exactly what we need, doexactly what we want for, and
(22:11):
it's cheap for you.
We're going to promote the crapout of you.
Make sure that we can– Do thebest we can.
Speaker 00 (22:15):
We've offered a good
segue.
I wanted to get to thescholarship opportunity that I
feel like is new for theorganization.
Talk a little bit about that.
Where's the idea come from?
What is the support?
What's the mission behind that?
Speaker 02 (22:30):
When the club began
and we started talking about
things as we started growing, hey, you know, let's see if we
can be a 501C.
So we started doing that.
What was the things that we–Oh, that's too hard.
We
Speaker 03 (22:38):
can't do that while
we're a 501C3.
But
Speaker 02 (22:40):
there was two main
things that we wanted to do and
we thought would take a while.
One was we love veterans,right?
So obviously we did theveterans bench.
It's gorgeous.
So we got that out of the way.
So we thought, well, we'll do ascholarship, not this year but
next year.
And all of a sudden, we startedlooking at our funds.
We're like, whoa, okay, we cando it this year.
We can do $250,000.
(23:01):
That's what the plan was.
The goal is to do it at bothour schools, right?
Because I'm from Treston andhe's from Tipton.
But then all of a sudden, westarted getting a little more
money.
So now we're very happy toannounce that the two from
Tipton are going to be two$500,000 scholarships.
Oh, wow.
So we're getting a grand thisyear for that.
Wow.
And with that being said, we'rereally focusing on the kid
(23:23):
that, It'll be for a boy and agirl that wants to go to a
two-year associate's degree.
I think sometimes those kidshave forgotten about a little
bit of their other stuff, andthey're needed.
I mean, trades are needed.
I mean, girls who want to gocut hair, they may not have the
money to buy their scissors andthings.
What do they want to use itfor?
We're going to give it away, and they can use it.
Again, it's just giving back tothose kids in the community.
Speaker 00 (23:44):
Yeah.
Is it going to be a degreeor...
degree focused?
Do they have to go into thetrays for two years, but they
can do something that'sautomotive related, construction
related, welding related?
All of the above.
Speaker 03 (24:00):
What we're doing
with the scholarship, it does
not have to be automotiverelated.
In fact, that's actually howDuke Energy got involved.
Their program, so there's apossibility our scholarship
could end up being one of theirlinemen or line down the way,
you know.
So, but yeah, so it's justanything to your degree.
(24:25):
It kind of comes from, youknow, part of the club is like
while we do love cars, we likemaking memories too, you know.
And so the memories of ourgrandparents, they were trade
people.
They worked with their hands.
Sure.
And so, because we're notanti-college, anti-four-year.
No, right.
We're just pro-making memoriesand just all that.
But, yeah, so anything likethat.
(24:47):
And like he said, for thosepeople that cut their hair,
anybody that's going to go tocosmetology school.
Yeah.
And if it's a matter of theymight not have lunch to eat, if
you need to bill $10 off of thatto go eat that day because you
know you can't focus hungry.
Correct.
And maybe it's a softwareprogram.
(25:09):
Maybe it's a computerenhancement.
Whatever it takes to get themdown the road.
I personally went to ITT, so Ihad gas money every night.
So whatever it takes to keepthem getting to class, yes, use
it.
Speaker 00 (25:25):
Correct.
That's fantastic.
I mean, it's exciting from yourperspective to see the goal was
two $250 scholarships becauseof the success are now doubled
that scholarship.
So I think just really helpingthat student get closer to that
goal of getting the two-yeardegree so that they can put
(25:48):
those new skills to work.
I think that's fantastic.
Speaker 02 (25:51):
It still goes back
to, as far as being able to do
that, it goes back to...
Every sponsor that gives moneyin our community made that
happen.
All we did was have the luxuryof handing that out.
That's the way we looked atthat.
They're the ones that made ithappen.
We're just having fun.
We're just parking cars, havinga blast.
(26:11):
It has absolutely nothing to doabout us, really.
It's the sponsors, the peoplethat come to the cruise ends and
throw the dollar in a bucketfor Hot Wheels for kids and so
on and so forth.
We just get the pleasure.
Being a facilitator.
Absolutely.
And it's freaking amazing.
That's the cool part about it.
Speaker 03 (26:28):
Two years ago, when
we did our first show specific
to raise funds for the VeteransPark Bench, we had people double
back to their wallet.
They put in a 10 the firsttime.
Like, oh, it's for theveterans?
Here's another 10 or here'sanother 20.
The CAR people love supportingthe kids and veterans.
It's ironic that we're filmingthis during Passover week
(26:50):
because we use the word blessedall the time.
Because we feel so out ofcontrol of the good things that
are happening.
It's got to be something beyonda couple jack wagons.
Speaker 02 (27:02):
You talk about the
scholarship and you just go on
to the Christmas time.
We do a lot there with buyingcars and Hot Wheels.
Again, seeing that kid, it maybe all we get.
It's cool to see that.
To sit back and again to watchour older people Go up on that
stage with us and pass out that.
I think that's going to meanmore to us watching their face
(27:25):
to finally get to do
Speaker 00 (27:26):
something.
Yeah.
Well, I'm really excited aboutthis season with Jack Wagons Car
Club in the city of Tipton.
You've got a lot of shows linedup for the summer.
I assume you'll have the carshow for the Pork Festival in
the park again this year.
That always seems to go reallywell.
So super excited.
Is there anything we've missedtoday that you would–
Speaker 02 (27:46):
Yeah, honestly, the
one thing that we want to push
is that 4th of July.
Yes.
We're having a huge car show inthe park on the 4th of July.
He's had shows down there, andit's probably about 150 cars.
With that being said, we'rehaving two food trucks down
there.
One's his family.
We're bringing one for theMuncie area, and she's going to
have fresh strawberryshortcakes, she says.
(28:08):
Wow.
And hopefully we can expandthis a little bit more and have
a little more fun.
Sure.
Car Show specifically is forour scholarship stuff.
Speaker 00 (28:16):
Yeah, I think we're
hopeful to work with you guys.
Of course, we've got the July4th fireworks display.
We really want to make thismore of a day-long celebration
of our nation's independence.
And so I think we're trying towork together to see can we do
some kind of– parade with thecars or just celebrate the car
(28:38):
show.
So glad you made that mentionbecause we're excited about
that.
We'll get something done forsure, right?
I mean, again,
Speaker 03 (28:43):
that's what it's
about for sure.
I've got a couple muskets.
We could put a Chevy and a Fordagainst each other.
A classic duel.
Yeah, a classic duel.
And I would also like to say, just remind people, we've had a
few people that didn't realizethat the cruise-ins were not
paid to walk through.
(29:04):
The cruise-ins downtown, thebands during cruise-in nights,
that's all free.
Come down, have fun.
Yes, you have to pay for yourfood truck and
Speaker 02 (29:14):
all that stuff.
Again, The sponsors paid forthat stuff.
Yeah.
The sponsors gave money for thebands and stuff and other
people.
And you'd be amazed.
Last year, real quick, duringour season, I was passing off
pamphlets that we had left overand talking to people.
And you'd be amazed about, that's free?
Like, what do you mean?
You didn't know it was free?
Yeah, yeah, come on.
Have a good time.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
So we definitely need to find away that we can communicate a
(29:37):
little bit better with ourcommunity on that.
What's the answer?
We don't know.
Oh, yeah.
So we're going to start poppingsome.
We're going to make some nice.
Maybe a podcast.
Well, I mean...
Here we
Speaker 03 (29:45):
are.
Yeah.
Speaker 02 (29:46):
See you next week.
Speaker 03 (29:48):
Live from the donkey
arena.
Yeah.
Speaker 01 (29:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 03 (29:52):
Oh, boy.
And then the last thing I'llsay is just, you know, just want
to reach out.
We do have an idea because Ithink we're going to do some
yard games during...
I don't want to put too muchout there, but we're going to do
some yard games.
We do have a person that we dowant to ask specifically, but
you don't have to own a car ifyou want to come help.
(30:14):
Help us do registration.
Again, even one hour givesBrian and I a one-hour chance to
make it.
If you can help a half an houror an hour, you know, we've
talked about KidZone.
I hope it's going to work out.
We've been communicating with aslot car club out of Kokomo
that is working on building aportable slot car track to bring
(30:35):
up.
So anyway, so again, a half anhour or an hour, you have no
idea the impact that that willmake for one of us to be able to
do that.
You do not have to own a car.
If you've ever seen my car, youknow you don't have to own a
night.
car to come hang
Speaker 02 (30:52):
out with us.
You've got our breakfast clubthat we're doing.
I know we missed out on it.
We've got to get going.
The breakfast club, we had aton of people just coming and
talking.
Again, it's about community.
It's about the love of cars andit's about the love of people.
Speaker 03 (31:06):
Our people's trying
to show love through cars and
people.
We can do it all.
Speaker 00 (31:12):
Thank you, Heath.
Thank you, Brian.
This has been a lot of funchatting about this, celebrating
your success thus far.

your scholarship opportunitythat you'll be unveiling this
