Hey everyone and welcome backto Try Tables and Time Zones.
I'm your host, josh Bogle, andthis is our segment known as the
Ramble.
This is where we review allthose travel essentials and
amenities that you use everytime you travel travel
essentials and amenities thatyou use every time you travel.
(00:48):
So hotels, airport lounges, airlines, airports, electronics,
luggage all those things thatyou use on a daily basis when
you're traveling and are usuallythe parts of your trip that can
either make it or break it.
So today we're going to stepinto the world of hotels and,
more specifically, airporthotels.
(01:08):
The review will be broken intofive categories.
The first category will be anoverview of the hotel, including
its location relative to theairport.
The second category will becheck in and check out and the
amount of effort that is neededto accomplish these tasks.
The third category will be areview of the room itself.
The fourth category will behotel amenities, including any
(01:30):
restaurants or lounges or bars.
And fifth will be my finalthoughts on the hotel.
So let's get this thing started.
The Hilton Garden Inn HeathrowTerminal 2, as the name implies,
is located at London's HeathrowAirport, connected to Terminal
2, which is also known as theQueen's Terminal and the home to
pretty much all of the StarAlliance Airlines.
(01:51):
So if you're flying any of thoseairlines, this hotel really
works for you, but it can workfor anyone by using the
airport's transportation totransfer between the different
terminals.
Getting to the hotel fromTerminal 2 is actually
incredibly easy.
When you come out of Terminal 2, there is the passenger
drop-off and pickup lanes and soyou just cross those streets
(02:13):
and you're inside of a parkinggarage.
Now there's signage all overthe place that will basically
say airport, hotel or hotel withan arrow.
Just follow those signs.
You essentially walk straightthrough the parking garage on a
pedestrian walkway and then youwill arrive at a pedestrian
covered bridge right that willlead you over the streets below.
(02:36):
At the end of that bridge youare in the hotel's lobby.
From there the check-in,checkout counters are directly
in front of you and there's alsoa small pantry where you can
buy drinks and snacks to take toyour room or on the go.
And at the check-in countersthere's certainly someone always
there to help you check in orcheck out.
(02:57):
But if you're a Hilton Honorsmember, there's certainly no
reason for you to have to go tothe check-in and check out and
wait in a line, because you havethe option to check in on your
phone, on the app.
And that's what I did.
While I was waiting on luggageat the airport, I went ahead and
checked in to the hotel andthen had my digital key issued
(03:19):
and Hilton does this I believeMarriott does it as well where
you can have a digital key onyour phone.
So basically, your phonebecomes your key right, and so
that's what I did.
So when I arrived, it was veryeasy because I basically got in
the elevator, went up to thefloor of my room, used my
digital key and went right in.
I didn't even have to talk toanybody.
The check-in procedure is veryeasy and again, the checkout
(03:42):
procedure is just as easy, especially if you have you know,
have Hilton's app and you're aHilton Honors member, and that I
just checked out on my phone.
So then you just walk throughthe lobby, go across the
pedestrian walkway and you're inTerminal 2.
So check-in and check-out hasbecome extremely easy at these
hotels based on using their appand using those features.
(04:02):
So no problems there whatsoever, very easy to do.
And using those features.
So no problems there whatsoever, very easy to do.
As far as the room went.
I was really surprised at howclean and modern and just
enjoyable the room was.
The bed was a big king-sizedbed and my room that I had was a
king room and I had a view ofthe runways that Heathrow.
(04:23):
So that was actually a reallycool little feature was being
able to look out the window andsee the runways, because I'm a
big av geek, I love airplanesand watching them take off and
land, so that was a cool littlething to have.
So the room has this reallynice big king bed.
It has a big TV in it I thinkthey were 49 inch TVs has a nice
chair in the corner with alittle table that you can sit at
(04:46):
if you want to have a littlesomething to eat in your room or
whatever.
It gives you a little place toput some some food down or a
drink.
Nice desk, small but nice, andthen the bathroom with a big
shower.
It was really really clean, which is always a nice plus.
So overall the room is verymodern.
You know blues and grays, so itfeels very modern and
(05:08):
contemporary, very well kept,very clean.
It was a lovely room to spendsome time in and, like I said,
the bed was ridiculouslycomfortable.
I really enjoyed the bed.
So again, no troubles having agood night's sleep here.
Even being this close to theairport, I didn't have any you
know airplane sounds or you knowthe rumble of equipment moving
(05:30):
luggage around and stuff at theairport.
It was very quiet, very easy tosleep.
So A plus there as well.
As far as amenities go, the mainamenities of the hotel, it is
an airport hotel so it doesn'thave like a, you know, a huge
pool area or anything like that.
It has a restaurant called theApron Restaurant and then the
Apron Bar which is kind ofacross the hall from it, and
(05:51):
then it has a rooftop-type barcalled the Runway Bar which, as
the name implies, looks over tothe runways at Heathrow.
All of these spaces again werevery well done, very modern,
very clean lines.
I really appreciated theaesthetic.
It was just a nice place to be.
I tried the restaurant fordinner one night and while I was
(06:12):
ordering very light foodbecause my stomach was still
trying to get over having foodpoisoning, what I did eat was
very well done for, especiallyfor a hotel restaurant.
I was really surprised at howyou know, well done the food was
.
It was tasty, it was fresh.
So I really enjoyed that.
And the waitress I had she wasextremely nice and you know I
(06:37):
never had to ask for more wateror tea or anything to drink.
She always kept that full.
She was very friendly andconversational, which I
appreciated.
You know, I had a couple ofquestions for and a couple of
requests and she didn't evenbalk at them, right, she was
instantly willing to help and dowhatever I was asking for,
which I really reallyappreciated.
(06:57):
So the restaurant is definitelya perfectly fine place to grab
you a meal.
If you're at the hotel waitingout for a flight the next day,
or if you're coming in early toHeathrow from somewhere else in
London or outside of London andyou're staying the night,
perfectly good place to havedinner.
There's no reason to go try tocatch a cab or something like
(07:20):
that to go somewhere else to eat.
I would recommend staying atthe hotel and having a meal
there because, like I said, itwas really enjoyable and uh and
very well done.
So that's really it.
That's the and this is what theramble is all about.
Right, these short reviews.
The Hilton Garden Inn at LondonHeathrow, Terminal 2, is just
really, really well done.
(07:41):
Like I said, it's everythingthat you want it to be at an
airport hotel, everything thatyou need and nothing that you
don't need.
It is clean, it is modern, it'sefficient.
It's extremely well placedwithin the airport grounds.
That makes it perfect to get toand from Terminal 2.
(08:01):
So, especially, this hotel is amajor win for United Airlines
and other Star Alliance partnersthat fly in and out of Terminal
2.
Because if you're flying on anyof those airlines within that
Star Alliance group and you'reflying out of Terminal 2, this
is a great pre-trip hotel or agreat post-trip hotel, depending
(08:24):
on when you land or leave.
And then also if you have along layover, like I did, but
you want to stay close to theairport, this is a great.
This is an absolutely greatoption and I would recommend it
to anyone that is transitingthrough London Heathrow or
flying in or out of LondonHeathrow.
It's just a neat place to staybefore a flight, at London
Heathrow.
It's just a fantastic hotel.
(08:48):
Can't recommend it enough.
So that's my quick in and outreview of the Hilton Garden Inn
Heathrow, Terminal 2.
I hope you guys enjoyed thisreview.

information that, hopefully, that you can use in your travels

some insight so when you're outthere traveling, you can think
