Speaker 1 (00:00):
Towards the end of the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, Shenan
texts her husband asking him if he wants to visit
his grandmother on Monday. That's August sixth. Bear in mind
up to this point, what's it been in North Carolina
almost a week? And spend almost all of that time
with Shenan, the kids and her parents. I feel fast, Hello,

(00:42):
and welcome to true Grim Rocket Science, the most authentic
and independent voice in true crime. So here we are
with two days left of his vacation, and by the
end of the first weekend, Shenan suggests to her husband
he might want to go and see his grandmother. Does
he want to do that tomorrow? What says? Yes? He

(01:02):
does want to seize more and more and was hoping
to see his folks too. Notice the craven language he uses.
I was hoping both. If not, that's okay too. I
wanted to see more more in the morning, if possible.
Shanan will decide who her husband sees and if and
when that happens, but she also lays down the law.

(01:23):
He must go and see his family alone. She's not going,
and neither of the kids. Let's have a look at
the actual text from August fifth, twenty eighteen. This is
from Discovery page two one oh one, and it's from
fifteen sixteen hours. Shannan asks, what are you wanting to
go see more and more tomorrow or family too? What replies,

(01:45):
I was hoping both. If not, that's okay too. I
wanted to see more more in the morning, if possible,
you wanted the girls to see her too, rit Shannan
responds thrice. If both, then that's fine, but alone, if
just mormal, we will go, meaning I guess she and
the kids will go with him. They saw her twice

(02:08):
and they can go again. But I'm standing strong with
your family. You can use the truck and see both,
but I just need to know I'm not going to
be the reason you don't see them, So if you do,
just go.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
In this simple act, Shanan is demonstrating and early warning
about her attitude to custody. It's also one hundred percent
accurate because later in the timeline she tells her palace
that she'll fight for full custody if it comes to that.
About ten minutes later, Watts pitches the idea of taking
the girls to see his grandmother, but he's also considerate,

(02:43):
saying he doesn't want to leave them without a car.
Shanan is having none of it. She puts them in
his place for having even the temerity to ask for
such a thing. Her health is suffering because of this stress.
She's not kidding. She instructs him and indirectly his parents
want to pick him up when the kids are sleep dark.
In other words, she's perfectly happy to leave him seeing
his folks until the end of the day. Five minutes later,

(03:06):
Watts is insistent, but also carefully obedient. He tells Shnan
he really wants the kids to see Mama and promises
to make sure that there will be zero chance that
anyone else will see them. These words have an ominous
ring to them given the events that occur. Exactly one
week later, Sunday night in Colorado.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
At fifteen twenty eight, Watts replied, I know they would
love to see more Moore one more time. I bet
Momo would love to see them too, since she remembers them.
I don't want to leave anyone without a coll here though, either.
Should I have someone pick me up at the nursing
home so the girls can see more more? In two messages,

(03:46):
Nan responded I'm not going to be where there's a
chance we will run into your family. I'm not kidding, Christopher.
I'm having a bad experience these last few days with
my pregnancy, and I'm spotting. I'm not dealing with it.
That's a reference to just how she's felt after she
was poisoned on that first day. Have your parents pick
you up when the kids go down tonight, then do

(04:08):
what you need to. Five minutes later, what concluded, I
want kids to see more more. I will make sure
there's zero chance anyone will see them again. Think about
those words in the context of what happened pretty much
a week later. Then about five hours later, Shinan sent
what's a screenshot with a following quote, Husband, stand up

(04:29):
for your wife and protect her from the attacks that
come from the people close to you. Let your family
and friends know that when it comes to your wife
and marriage, there's a line they cannot cross. If you
have to take sides, then always take your wife's side.
From the day you said I do, your wife displaces
your parents, friends, and siblings Apart from God. Your wife

(04:51):
now occupies and assumes the privileged first place of honor
in your life. Oftentimes it requires that you lovingly stand
up for your wife in front of your parents, especially
our mother. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no mother, father, brother, sister,
friend or boss separate. Well, it doesn't actually include mistress there,

(05:11):
does it. If this message was designed to make Watts
feel guilty, do you think it succeeded? Two hours later,
in even more ominous message from Shenan, I don't know
how you fell out of love with me in five
and a half weeks, or if this has been going
on for a long time, but you don't plan another
baby if you're not in love, kids don't deserve a

(05:33):
broken family. When I left you, you couldn't take your
hands off me. You show up and have to practically
ask for a kiss. About half an hour later, Shannan asks,
what's would you stay with me if we didn't have kids?
Or do you think his answer would be to that?
Then at twenty three or nine, Scharannan ask what, I
just don't get it. You don't fall out of love

(05:55):
in five weeks. Minutes later, she pondered, how can you
sleep a marriage? He just crumbling in front of us,
and you can sleep? So shechanan the Penny's finally dropping
with her. She's realized just how serious the thing is
between him and her. Now, when Chanan says, would you
stay with me if we didn't have kids, he probably responded,

(06:18):
I don't want to lose the kids. Well, it's a
loaded question. That really means have you stopped loving me
or the kids, or more bluntly, do you still love me?
And the answer is he doesn't. If he possibly can,
he wants to come out of this with his daughters,
but that's not going to happen. He knows that's not
going to happen. I do think in his reasoning it

(06:40):
was first that he wanted to get rid of Nico,
and then he thought, well if he loses Shenan, he's
going to lose the kids as well. So he's going
to lose the kids anyway. I think the biggest warning
of all to Shechannan is this moment right here. Though
Sheannan is trying to engage him in every conceivable way,
what's this sort of okay? Just staying in his room,

(07:00):
letting her rage one moment, beg and plead the next why,
Because he's made up his mind if it was the
worst summer ever for her, it's been the best summer
ever for him, and so he's already engaging with dreaming
secretly of someone else. At twenty three or nine, Chanan's
still add it. But WHATSS done and likely in more

(07:21):
ways than one. Well, I'm not going to take it
further than that. In the next episode, we'll deal with
August sixth, where Shenan says, this has been the worst
week of my life. And obviously from August sixth onwards
we are dealing with the very last seven days of
Sheinnan and the kids' lives. Well, wherever you are in
the world, take care and I'll see you guys next time.
