Kate Brown is starting a podcast. Why? Because I struggle with pushing through depression, anxiety, being overwhelmed by having to prep the coffee pot so hot coffee is ready in the morning, and these things get in the way of making art.

There is an idea I've heard that if you really really love the art form - comedy, writing, painting, drawing, acting, directing etc etc. - and you want to make or do these creative things you will persist no matter what. And if you don't? That means you don't want it bad enough. I disagree.

This is the first, very raw, episode of creating and launching this podcast. It is me, under a blanket, hitting record. No sound proofing, no editing, just doing what I can to get started. For context on how long it's taken me to start, I bought the microphone and headphones in 2023.

Once created and ready to launch, the podcast will be conversations with working creatives who have similar struggles - depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and more, but they are able to push through and generate, and complete creative work. So much that they may be known in their industry or even making a living doing their work.

We'll hear funny stories of failure and success and hopefully be inspired, get insight on different processes, maybe even get some tips and tricks, so that I can keep making the podcast and you the listener may feel encouraged to do or make the thing you want to do or make.
