Hello there, and welcome back to the VODPod, the Voice of Dignity Podcast from the National Dignity Council.

Today we talk to Liz who had first-hand experience of the shift from daughter to carer in the last few months of her mother's life. We discuss her mum's health and decline, and the home situation. We go into some of the factors affecting their situation, some of the emotional content of feelings of being a family unpaid carer, and the feelings of frustration, worry, and guilt for feeling that way. Liz shares her self-doubt and feelings of isolation and leads us into an account of two distinct ancedotal experiences, one with a district nurse that left her feeling totally devalued and hopeless, and one with a paramedics team which was totally the opposite.

If you want to hear our reflection on the episode, why not follow it up with Alex and Jan's BONUS episode, VODPod Reflects, coming shortly after.

We hope you enjoy the show, and we would love to hear from you about the difference you have felt, or the difference you have made, in supporting people with dignity kindness and respect.
