True faith is not mere mental assent to the facts of the gospel, it is a life changing relationship to the Lord Jesus where you start to act on the gospel. True faith changes us. This change starts in the heart but it inevitably heads to our hands. Works don’t save us, God saves us. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. This is a gift of God, not by our works. Yet true faith results in works. If you have the root of Christ in your heart you will produce the fruit of Christ in your life. James started by showing us that true faith works on our perspective. After Jesus works on our attitude He then works on our actions.
