Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well this Wednesday, it's about to go down. It's Sonya
with Doctor Kim, holistic expert. This month Alzheimer's and Brain
Health Awareness Month. You said something interesting about the brain,
Doctor Kim.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Yes, we got to train our brain. We have to
train our brain. And we can do that by what
we watch, what we listen to, what we say I say,
no more thinking, thinking, what we memorize, what we sing.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
We got to train the brain. That's good, y'all.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Listen up Wellness Wednesday on Inspiration thirteen ninety Good Morning,
Inspiration thirteen ninety.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Family.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
It's Sonya Blakey Wellness Wednesday. Doctor Kim showed up y'all.
She is our holistic expert and today we're gonna talk
about Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month. And Doctor Kim, you
wanted to make sure that we addressed this on the show.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Absolutely And one of the reasons why we need to
address it because about six point nine million people in
the United States over the age of sixty five. Guess
what they're living with These disseases. I like to call
them diseases and not disease. When you get a diagnosis

(01:10):
or neurological diagnosis, you want to begin to not only prevent,
but you want to be able to give.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Yourself the support that's.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Needed if you have this diagnosis.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
One of the reasons is because over time, if Alzheimer's
is not a dress, it can be turned into dementia
and other compromises of the brain.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
All right, doctor Kim, I'm reading about Alzheimer's and it
says that age and family history are significant risk factors
of Alzheimer's.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Is that true?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Well, not only.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Age and not only family because a lot of times
we pass down you know, what we eat, where we go,
what we do, so you can say at any time
that I'm gonna break the circle, the cycle, and whatever
we've been doing, just so that you can experience good health.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Because did you.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Know that if you are eating lots of sugar or
things that break down into sugar, that's one of the
main things that impacts the brain and gives a person
this compromised disease. And so food and packs and improved mood.

(02:29):
I cannot get away from nutrition and food enough. What
we're eating a lot of times is literally putting us
in danger of memory, of remembering events, remembering.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Our loved ones.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
So let's make sure when we sit down and eat
with our family and loved.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Ones that we're eating health and we're eating wealth.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
All right, sounds good, don't you kelv know?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
What are some things that you recommend that we should
be eating for good brain health?

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Absolutely?

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Walnuts it looks like a brain, doesn't it When you
look at the wana, it literally looks like the brain.
And so walnuts, good fats, omegafats, avocados.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
My suggestion is to go to places that.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Have great organic avocados that have not been gym on,
because that's a fat and a fiber. So fat and
fiber is good. Also, dates are good. Also, brazil nuts
are good. These nuts and seeds and good fats, they're
good for the brain. Also version cold press unrefined olive oil.

(03:38):
Taking just a tablespoon to day could help you and
your brain house.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
All right, sounds good. Doctor Kim is giving us the
knowledge that we can live longer and stronger and wiser.

and beyond. Because it's a Wellness Wednesday, and because doctor
Kim is back Holistic Expert, we're talking about this month
being Alzheimer's and Brain health Awareness Month. Now, doctor Kem,
you got something for everything. So what about the brain?

Speaker 2 (04:27):
So first of all, let's even address how the Bible
addresses the brain. It's amazing how the Bible talks about
the belly.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
The brain are bones.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
But it literally tells us to cast down imagination and
every vain thing, and it tells us to think on
those things that are true, pure, just lovely. It even
tells us to put on the helmet of salvation. So
that tells us that we have to partner and we
have to take responsibility of the things that we're thinking.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
No more thinking thinking, no.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
More getting stuck, no more procrastination.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
We have to be a part of.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Our brain house.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
And one of the things that I do is I
read and I memorize, reading and memorizing and repeating things.
So that our brain is trained. Our brain is trained.
Train your brain, so sing read. Sometimes we watch a

(05:27):
lot of TV. I'll even hear people say they're binge
watching things.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Read.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Pick certain subjects to read.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Get puzzles, big puzzles, and put them on the table
and come back to it a few hours and leave
it a few hours. Do even crossword puzzles.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
But begin to do.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Things to have your brain thinking. And then you can
close your eyes. And then when you close your eyes
you can look from the left to the right, up
and down and then do a circle up down brain exercise.
This I exercises things to meet your eyes strong and
your brain strong. And then this last scene rest Thou

(06:09):
now remains rest, rest and sleep is important. When you
rest and you sleep, your brain detoxes.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
Itself from whatever happened the day before.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Wow, these are some good practical things we can all
put into action starting today.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
