What Is Your Story is a cultural project dedicated to telling and publishing African stories. Our platform invites anyone to share their truth—preserving the authentic African narrative in all its forms and voices.
With Travel Stories, we travel across Lagos, Nigeria, and the African continent to uncover untold experiences and bring them directly to you.
A few weeks ago, we visited Tarkwa Bay to explore the community and discover local stories—of the beach, the tourists, the islanders, and the lives they lead. For decades, Tarkwa Bay has been known as a beloved beach destination: a place to surf, unwind, or spend a weekend with family and friends. But beyond the waves, the island is home to fishermen, tailors, boat boys, seamen, artisans, and small business owners, families and communities who have lived there since the early 1940s. Everything, however, changed drastically in January 2020. We hope that you enjoy listening to this episode.
The next episode drops at the same time next week, don’t miss it.
