OSU Gameday Tradition Changes_080525

OSU football games are about to look/feel different this season .. beginning w/the season opener against Texas!  I break it all down here.

tell you what I feel, my truth. And I think
the changes coming to OSU football this season out of
the Athletic Director's office.

Traditions starting for the season opener against Texas coming up
on the thirtieth, OSU says the tradition of the Alpha
phi Omega members ringing the victory bell is going to
remain after every win, which of course no reason it shouldn't. However,

this fall, the bell is now going to sound before
the team takes the field and then celebration of the
fiftieth anniversary of his second Heisman Trophy, Archie is going
to serve as the first pregame bell ringer and then
going to serve as the ambassador with Alpha pi Omega
in selecting new bell ringers for each home game probably

be timely. And here's something cool that I think maybe
the most genius thing they do. You know, when no
issues playing defense and the crowd gets loud, the bell
is going to serve as the official sound of third
down when the defense is on the field. Not that
you needed prompted to make noise, but you're going to

be prompted to make noise. Here's something that they've stolen
from the animals of the Pittsburgh Steelers, where the Terrible
towel came to be what forty five to fifty years ago.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Every fan in attendance for.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
The season opener against the Longhorns is going to get
not a terrible towel, kind of like it, though they're
calling it the towel. It's going to be available for
a purchase. According to OSU ad Ross Bort gonna be
scarlet and gray. They announced three color outs, starting with
the home opener with Texas. It's going to be scarlet

the shoe, so you're going to be able to wear red.

There's going to be the helmet stripe game against the
Ohio University Bobcats on September thirteenth, and then the wear
black game. You know how Penn State does the whiteouts, Well,
we're doing a blackout. We're black for the Nidney Lions

game November first, and then the other stuff not quite
as significant, but every time a visiting team's offense, I
love this. Every time the offense commits a false start
penalty or calls.

A timeout due to crowd noise.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
A visual representation, a representation of a buckeye leaf is
going to be put up on the scoreboard, along with
a season long calculation of how many leaves the home
crowd is earned.

I just love that great idea.
