Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, Woody, it was an interesting game, to say the
very least. It was electric in the stadium, as you
can well imagine. I got to tell you that the
performance by Ohio State was something that was very, very
special and something we can be really proud of on
a go forward basis.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I was not expecting the defensive dominance. Now, I know
arch Manny making his first road start played a little
bit into that, but that defense looked rock solid. Man.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Well, what's really interesting is you've got only three returning
starters on that defense that led the entire country last
year in total defense and scoring defense. So there was
a big question mark Woody, as to what this defense
was going to be like. And also we replaced our
defensive coordinator and Matt Patricia from the NFL comes in
and takes over that responsibility. And I think we had

arch Manning baffled most of the day. And I think
that was the real challenge that Texas had in generating
any offense, was not only the performance of the players,
but a great scheme by Matt Patricia.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, game one results for him. The report card reads
a plus. Okay, Now we have a whole one hundred
and eighty degree different kind of a game tomorrow, as
Football Championship Subdivision Grambling comes to town in what should
be an opportunity to get second, third, fourth, fifth line
players a lot of playing time.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
It really should be. I mean, this is nobody's going
to make a secret out of this game. This is
a chance for Grambling to get a paycheck in Ohio State,
to take a little bit of a breather and really
find out where they are. I think that they are
still developing young players at a number of different positions,
and so the number ones really need to take care
of business and make sure this thing is put away

(01:41):
by the time we get to halftime so that we
can start developing some of those second and third teamers.
As you mentioned and wood he maybe the best show
of the day will be the halftime show between the
two best damn bands in the land, the Ohio State
Buckeye Marching Band and the Grambling Tiger Band, which is
supposed to be something spec calcular.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, both Grambling and Southern have bands that are gonna
make you want to keep your butts in the seats.
And we'll get it. We'll get a score prediction here, Jeff.
But really, the real prediction should be how many series
will the starters get? Go ahead, give me that, how
many series will the starters get?

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Well, my hope is that they can get at least
through the end of the first half, because I think,
you know Julian's saying, regardless of the score, needs to
have repetitions out there. So Ryan Day will probably keep
that starting group in there longer than what the score warrants. Hopefully.
I see Ohio State dominating in this thing, but getting

(02:36):
some players in late in the game. What doy I got,
sixty three to fourteen is my number.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
They're not going to get fourteen, I'm pretty sure. And
I know Grambling's coach, Mickey Joseph he played quarterback for
tom Osborne and Nebraska thirty some years ago. I think
he will bring in talent. He's from New Orleans, but
it ain't on the field tomorrow. I say, O issue
sixty six Grambling the big donut that would be.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
That would be terrific. I think this defense would love
to pitch a shutout at home.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
