Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, buddy, it's hard to believe it's been eight months,
but Buckeye football is back, and I don't know if
there's ever been a bigger season opener than Ohio State
and Texas in the Shoe.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Yeah, what a terrific run the twenty four team had
winning the national championship. And I think we all still
in that celebrating mode of what happened during that playoff run.
So a lot of credit kudos go out to that team,
those coaches, fan base, everybody really enjoyed it. But man,
it is come back, and it's come back fast, and
I don't know that there's been a bigger opening game
(00:29):
in the history of college football. Then what's going to
happen in the Shoe on Saturday?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
So interesting in that you've got two brand new quarterbacks,
much ballyhooed quarterbacks. I'm trying to figure out who's got
the most pressure.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Well, that's a good question, and I think the success
on Saturday, who's going to win this game will come
to the kid that handles the pressure the best. And
you know, everybody wants to give Manning credit because he
started a few games, all home games at Texas. He's
not going to have experienced anything like he's going to
experience on Saturday. And on our side, we've got Joe Sayin,
who's got a terrific resume. He's only attempted twelve passes
(01:03):
since he's been at Ohio State, but he was good
enough for Nick Saban at Alabama for a short time.
I think he'll be good enough for us.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Talking to Buckuye Hall of Fame running back Jeff Logan
here on what his workday kickoff. All right, Jeff, where
do you think the difference is going to be? We
can almost always say the trenches, but man, I don't know.
We certainly are going to have the best player on
the field, the best player in college football.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah, you know, I think we've got the best two
players in all of college football with Jeremiah Smith on
the offensive side and Caleb Downs defensively. And I want
you to go back to the game January the tenth
of this year when we played Texas in the Cotton Bowl.
You know, it was tied up at going into the
fourth quarter, and there were two plays in that game
that were difference makers. One was the screen pass that
Travon Henderson caught right before the first half and took
(01:46):
it to the house for a touchdown. And then obviously
the scoop and score by Jack Sawyer when he got
to the quarterback quin Ewers and took it to the distance.
And I believe the outcome of this game. You know,
the trenches are important, the defense, the turnovers are important,
all those goods that you talk about. But this will
come down to two big plays in the game, just
like the Cotton Bowl game did. And whoever is able
(02:07):
to make those two big plays in the game, they
will stand out as separate. That's going to be the
winner of the game. In my opinion.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
I got to have the Jeff Logan prediction.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
I like Ohio State. The over runder on this thing
is like forty seven and a half or something like that.
Wouldy and this year when they played their last game,
there was forty two points scored in that game. I
think it'll be very similar to that. I think Ohio
State wins this game. I've got thirty one for the
Buckeyes and twenty four for the Texas Longhorns. Buckeyes win
the opener.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
I think it might be lower scoring than that. Two
new quarterbacks and a little bit of tightness I'm going
to say always Shue twenty seven, Texas seventeen.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
I love it anyway that it goes with the Buckeyes winning.
Send them back home and they're not bringing Bevo mascot
of theirs. They didn't put them on the road, so
we'll let them go hug Bevo when they get home
in all their tiers. So it should be a lot
of fun though, on Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Thank yous, you have to talk to you next week, Buddy,
Go Bucks.
