One thing that my wrestling coach taughtme early on in high school, and
he was like a New England champion. He was an absolute beast, all
American, and he told us,he's like, listen, you have to
be able to play hurt, becausewhen you're going into a wrestling match,
everyone is injured, someone's got everyone'sgot a roled ankle, jam finger,
you know, backspasm, something, and you have to be able to play
(00:23):
hurt. And you know, thiswas something that you know, I had
done throughout my life, you know, playing in football. I was always
hurt going into games because everybody was, you know, but it's something when
he said it, it really clickedfor me. And I'm like, Okay,
if you didn't play these contact sports, or really any sport, I
mean even soccer, you're gonna getinjuries and things and whatnot. So if
you didn't play those I teach allmy teams now and I tell my teams
(00:45):
and it reinforces in my brain. It's like, you need to be able
to play hurt. There's gonna bedays where you're sick. There's gonna be
days where you're you know, you'reyou're injured whatever, and you're emotionally injured,
whatever it is you just got brokenup with. Look, the world
unfortunately doesn't care. Like the worldjust doesn't care. And you realize this
(01:06):
when you're working in a position likestraight commissioned sales, or you are a
business owner or you're an entrepreneur. You realize the world really doesn't care when
you're out on your own. Andthat's the reason that these positions typically pay,
or you know, the highest paidpositions in the world, is because
these guys understand that when they're sick, you know a salary, Yeah,
you can take a couple sick daysoff and blah blah blah. But that's
(01:29):
why you're out complaining that your salaryis too low, because you have that
ability to do that. Of course, they're not going to pay you the
big bucks. They can't even dependon you if you get a little sick.
So when you have no one thatyou're that's depending or when you have
no one that's dependent on you,you know, you're out there on your
own. And if you get sick, if you get whatever, nobody's gonna
(01:53):
nobody's out there to save you.Nobody's here to save you. So when
you're sick, you realize like, hey, I'm a little bit sick,
but I'm gonna get out there anyway. Or yeah, my, you know,
my ankle's blown up from the gymor basketball, I still got to
get out there and get after it. Because unless it's a serious freaking emergency,
like I'm going to pay for thisday off or these two days off
or whatever it is, I'm gonnapay for whether it's today or like in
(02:15):
Solar, you know you're gonna payfor it thirty days later. Like in
Solar, everything you accomplish, everythingthat you receive the money and all that,
it's not the work you did today, it's the work you did thirty
days ago. So it's a reallygood example of like you know you're gonna
pay for that thirty days later. It's not just gonna be oh well,
it's just a day off and youknow it's whatever. So that was the
(02:38):
biggest lesson that my wrestling coach sawme, as you have to be able
to play hurt
