roll please.
Jake Wyatt Cigars, you asked for it. And here we

bit backstory about Jake Wyatt. It, uh, says from their

So, what's in the box?

(04:06):
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: What's in the box?
What's in the box? Today we're going to be going over their Appendix
2, Corona Gorda 5 by 5, 8 and
4 by 46. Their fourth dimension,
Corona Gorda 5 by 5, 8 by 46,
the Herbert Spencer Corona Gorda 5 by 5
and 8 and by 46, the
Lithium Robusto 5 by 50 and the

(04:27):
Icarus Robusto 5 x 50. So
strap on and hang in tight. We're gonna have fun today, but don't worry if you miss
anything. You could download the full episode from anywhere you get
your podcast platforms. But before we dive into
the shallow end of the pool, remember the buddy system. Where's your
buddy, Lar? Shouldn't you be watching the kids? Oh, don't
worry. I have them on the body system. Body

(04:47):
system?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, have a look.
Body
Body.
I have to go watch that movie.
Such a good movie. Uh, if you're a cigar
newbie, fret not. We got you covered in our

(05:08):
cigar one on one episode where all this cigar speak can be decoded.
Just search for cigars, sip, suds and smokes one on one. And that
episode should pop right up and follow the link in our show notes.
Good. Uh, old boy Benjamin gets the honors of going over our new
smoke ratings today. Take it away.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (05:23):
All right, so today we'll be discussing
these cigars and rating them with our sip suds and smoke smokes
ratings plus our signature sounds. Here
are those ratings now. One, this
sucked even before it was lit.
Two, at least I lit it.

(05:46):
Three, I'd smoke this again.
Four, how much you want for them? Um.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (06:01):
Magnificent.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (06:03):
And five, where are they? I need a
box.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (06:12):
All right, well, Rich is going to start us off with the appendix
2 corona gorda 5 by 5, 8 by
46.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, that's good old Bill Rich to you. All right,
you're right. Jake Wyatt's Appendix 2 hits the
heart of our existence. We created a profile of
smooth and creamy masterpiece. Our
unwavering attention and discipline to create this

(06:33):
ultra smooth, creamy cigar that is right
for any occasion for you to enjoy.
Uh, to wrapper is an Ecuadorian Connecticut, and both
the binder and fillers are Dominican. Yeah,
so this, uh, The Appendix two. I was a little
surprised when I started it because I did get a little,
little peppery on the light, little woody, but then

(06:54):
it quickly did smooth out.
Very tasty. Good construction. Overall,
um, great cigar. I really enjoyed it.
Okay. Yeah, I, I like the appendix
too. Um, it was real smooth for me. Good
burn, good construction, well rounded cigar.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
What do you think?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (07:12):
Yeah, same. And I think one of the fun things about these
cigars is they have a little QR code on the
band that take you to a short little
YouTube snippet.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (07:21):
Little quip. Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (07:22):
About, you know, kind of what you're smoking, which I think is cool for
anybody that, uh, may be newer to the
cigar world. It gives you a little sneak peek as
to what you can expect through the smoking experience.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (07:33):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (07:33):
Uh, and they talk about this one as being like
creme brulee, but I definitely picked up
that like, consistent bit of spice all
the way through, uh, which I don't necessarily
connect with creme brulee,
but I wasn't mad at it either.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: No.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (07:50):
Yeah, I think that subtle spice off of that, uh,
wrappers which what we're picking up on there,
uh, it's just that Ecuadorian, Connecticut, it's got that
little subtle like. Yeah. Kind of black and white
pepper.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (08:01):
Just a little sprinkle cayenne on there.
Right.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah. But it didn't, it didn't overpower the smoothness for
sure. So, um, definitely a good morning
or, um, afternoon cigar.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:13):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: You just want to chill.
Well, what are we going to rate it? We're uh, gonna
give it a four fours.
Magnificent. All right, I'm gonna tell you
all about the fourth dimension. Corona Gorda, 5 by
5, 58 by 46.

(08:34):
So Jake Wyatt's fourth dimension features a habano
Rosado wrapper coupled with our Jake Wyatt
tradition. Smooth and bold flavors throughout that
captured this medium full bodied masterpiece.
Uh, the habano rosado
wrapper with a binder is Dominican. The filler is
Dominican Rich. What do you think about this?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: This is the one. Well, they have the, uh, the strips. The

(08:56):
candela strips.
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Um, the foot on the head.
On their cap.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: On their cap. I felt it was interesting.
The um, it kept me, um, uh, interested
throughout. The smoke had a great construction
burn, uh, was great. It's about a medium strength,
a little bit of spice. I kind of had a,
ah, notes of cinnamon,

(09:18):
um, and, and some pine. So definitely kept
me interested.
Now that little candela wrap, if you'll notice a couple of
their cigars have them, uh, that Appendix two
has it with the, the. It's a little darker
wrap that really just pops off that,
you know, Ecuadorian, Connecticut wrapper there. It just
gives a little depth.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah. And it's got that little circle, a little spiral

(09:40):
on the, on the tip there.
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (09:41):
I think it's the majority of their core line that have that little,
those little intricacies. I don't think that they're very,
like, flavor driving or that you pick up on
them a lot, but aesthetically,
these things look super cool.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (09:55):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Definitely make them stand out. Uh, when you're, when you're
browsing through the.
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (09:59):
You feel like you're smoking something, uh, from the future. Not
before I learned a bit more about the brand. I was like,
oh, Jake White, is that a new, you know,
uh, TV series with a
detective, you know, sleuthing out what's happening
in his apartment building or something? Back to the Future Chronicles
of Jake. Why?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:17):
Yeah. That's awesome. So, uh,
what do you guys think about this? Uh, we're gonna
give it a four.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
Magnificent. We are going to take a short break here,
but when we come back, we're going to have a little bit of story time with Jake
White and our interactions with him. We had some fun

(10:40):
time with him at pca. He's always a good, chill person to
hang out and talk with. Good dudes, have a good conversation.
Absolutely. I can't believe we missed him when he came to Nashville. I know.
I just wasn't even on my radar.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I'm not mad. I'm just. I'm just hurt.
Yeah, I'm just hurt.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I'm just hurt.
Well, guys, enjoy these commercials and I hope it sparks yours
just to buy something.

(11:01):
So welcome back. I hope those commercials, uh, ads
really just piqued your interest about what you want.
Benjamin is going to tell us about the Herbert Spencer. But before
we do that, Rich, why don't you tell us a little
bit about Herbert Spencer. Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: So this Herbert Spencer was my
introduction to Jake Wise Cigars. I met Neil and his
team last year, PCA in Las

(11:22):
Vegas. And, uh, it piqued my interest.
Interest because Herbert Spencer was a guy
that, uh, did a paper on in, in college. And
if you don't know who Herbert Spencer is, he's a 19th
century, uh, philosopher,
psychologist, biologist, sociologist. I mean, he
just kind of did.
He was a wizard.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: He's like a Renaissance man. Uh, and

(11:43):
he termed the phrase survival of the fittest.
Uh, so, um, really smart guy.
Um, he's very. He's well known for his, uh, he.
He has a quote of, you know, about,
um, um, contempt prior to
investigation. You might hear a lot. So, um,
but he, he wrote a book called man vs. The

(12:04):
State. I did a. Did a paper, uh, on
that in college. Um, but it's just a.
It's.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: It's kind of a tough read, but. Yeah, I know
it's a tough read, but it was very interesting. The
guy's just a kind of one of these brilliant guys that
you, uh, you know, to just kind of set the tone
for a lot of, um, a lot of people's

(12:24):
ideas and thoughts in, in this country and around the world.
So.
Yeah, yeah. Benjamin, why don't you tell us about the
Herbert Spencer cigar?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (12:32):
Yeah, so we've got the Herbert Spencer here. It's a. In a
Corona Gorda 5 and 5, 8 by
46. Herbert Spencer is made with rich,
aged San Andreas Maduro wrapper coupled with a smooth,
bold, medium, full Dominican blend with hints
of spice and smoothness that must be
experienced. The composition, uh, on this cigar,
rapper, is San Andreas Maduro. And then binder and

(12:53):
fillers, uh, are both Dominican. This is the first
cigar that I ever smoked, uh, from Jake Wyatt as
well. So it's definitely my introduction to the brand. Um, and
I don't know if that clouds my judgment prior to going into
the full lineup, but this is also my favorite of
like the base lineup.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Same.
Sure. I think the Herbert Spencer's, uh, worth
visiting over and over again. And especially as an

(13:15):
introduction, it's something that really
made me go, oh, wow. Like, you know, for, you
know, somewhat of a, you know, obscure brand. You
don't see it in a lot of places. It's not in all,
you know, of your favorite tobacconists and that kind of thing should be
out 100. It's one of those things that,
um, really made me sit back and

(13:36):
go, oh, wow, this is. This is a really good smoke.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: And then. And where they do, uh, carry it
locally, it's hard to find them. They sell out really
quick. So if you haven't tried one. Absolutely.
And the Herbert Spencer is. Is good one to start with.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:49):
Yeah, I just. I think that San Andreas Maduro wrapper
really stands out.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (13:53):
Oh. Every time. So you get that like, nice,
like coffee, chocolatey kind of undertone, but it's got a real
nice, just kind of layer of black pepper
over the top of it. Uh, I think that that's absolutely
incredible.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:06):
Yeah, absolutely. Well, um, what
are we going to rate this one? We're gonna go five.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I gotta go five.
Well, I'm gonna go over the Lithium, uh, the
Robusto 5 by 50. The
lithium is a sophisticated habano wrap jam with an

(14:26):
ultra smooth and creamy medium full
Dominican blend of spice and pepper with hints of citrus
and nuts filled, nut filled,
finished. It's a habano
wrapper, a Dominican binder and
Dominican filler.
This, um, was probably my least

(14:47):
favorite of the bunch. Um,
just wasn't overly complex for
me. So what do you guys think?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, I actually had. This one was kind of on the line for me.
It wasn't as, ah, I think not
my least favorite, but definitely not my favorite.
Um, I like the rapper. I think the, the band is

(15:08):
really cool. It has that. The Lithium.
Periodic chart chemical.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah. And then you look at the little comp of the
composition of the, um, the,
uh, whatever that's called. Uh, I'm not a scientist. I
don't know what to call these things.
You just stayed at a Holiday Inn Express?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yes. Yeah, yeah, but, but, yeah, I did enjoy
it nonetheless. Good, good construction.

(15:29):
I think the branding is solid on it.
Absolutely. And you know, it could have just been that when
I smoked it, I wasn't in the right place to smoke it. You know,
it happens. Taste is subjective and our outside
influences also affect everything. What'd you think?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (15:43):
Well, I was, I was just going to say that I have
kind of the opposite opinion. I tend to be a
habano smoker. I think that this turned up those
nice, you know, spice forward habano notes for me.
That really made me kind of lean in and enjoy this cigar.
Uh, when I smoked it, it was my first cigar of the day.
So definitely, you know, talking about it. It's a place

(16:04):
in time. It depends on, you know, from a taste
perspective, what you had to eat that day, what you were drinking, you know, how you
slept, you know, which nostrils working when you smell things kind of
situation. Uh, this one hit the right notes
for me as a. Yeah, you know, start the day
off kind of smoke. Um, but m. Maybe
not. So if it were, you know, number two or
number three throughout the day.

(16:26):
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: So. So what you're saying is maybe the good side of my
nostril wasn't working as well.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:30):
It's very possible, potentially.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (16:32):
Yeah, it's very possible.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:32):
Yeah. I mean, I can punch you in the other one and.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (16:35):
Yeah, brains weird.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:36):
Yeah, uh, brain weird. Now see, I'm. I'm definitely going to
revisit it.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Absolutely.
You know, I definitely don't want to cloud
people's judgment on it because everything he's Got is so far
has been pretty decent, which is
not an easy thing to do these days.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (16:51):
No. This brand, if nothing else,
Consistency. Yeah, these are very well made.
These, these hit. Check all the boxes
from a flavor perspective, uh, from what you can expect
reading the composition, reading the blends of these.
They are just right down the middle.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (17:09):
Yeah, just like a good baseball throw.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (17:12):
Hey, glad you picked that up.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (17:13):
Uh, right down the middle.
Wild.
All right, so what are we going to rate this one? We
can give it fours.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
Magnificent. Now, Rich, you're going to take

(17:34):
us home with the Icarus, right?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yes, the Icarus, um, a daring figure in Greek
mythology. Sword on wings crafted by his
father, Daedalus. Ignoring
warnings, he ascended towards the sun. Intoxicated
by the heavens.
The.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: The sun's fiery embrace melted his waxen
wings, sending Icarus plummeting into the depths

(17:54):
of the Aegean Sea. Icarus, like tobacco
leaves kissed by Tennessee fire, soared
too close to the sun. Ambition met
flames and cautionary tales in every
ember. The wrapper is a San
Andreas Maduro. The binder is a Dominican
Olor, and the fillers are a
Tennessee fire cured with a,

(18:16):
uh, Creo 98, uh,
um, Palado Cubano and the
Pennsylvania broadleaf. Um, yeah, this
one, it was interesting because
I really got interested like in the, of course, the
Tennessee fire cured, uh, portion of. I
definitely tasted that. Um, it came
through. Um, yeah, kind of a full,

(18:38):
full, medium body light, full.
Um, you know, and have you ever, uh, you're from
Kentucky, so you've probably seen that
everybody, how they, how they fire these.
That's right.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: You know, driving, driving through, uh, the
back country and seeing the barn smoking.
Tobacco bar and smoking is just, it's really cool. It's awesome.

(19:00):
It just reminds me of, you know, back home.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (19:02):
It's one of those things here. So I live a little
northwest of the city here and there are a lot of
tobacco fields and farms out there. And they put this
post up every year around tobacco
smoking season. And, uh, season is.
Don't know if you're new to this area.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Don't call the fire department.
Call the fire department. Like it's not, uh.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:23):
It's okay.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (19:24):
It is. It's hazy out here for a reason, you
know, which I just find hilarious because you
probably wouldn't have to made that post
or put that information out there. You know, 15 years ago.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:35):
I wonder how many Karens are like, something's on fire.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (19:38):
Nashville, right? As the city expands and people start to move to the
outskirts a little bit. Yeah, they forget, man. They're an agricultural
country. Yeah. We're known for growing stuff.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:47):
So.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, but it's still a good, solid, uh,
cigar. It wasn't my favorite, but, um,
definitely had a good.
We'll be right back.
Well, welcome back. I hope those commercials really just
engaged you. Um, let's talk a little bit
about this. Barn smoking, Tennessee cured. You were talking

(20:09):
a little bit about that.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: So, um, my wife and I. My wife, like.
My wife.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: My wife,
we like. We like to, uh. She likes to go floating
on the river. So you can go up to Adams, Tennessee,
and this is where they have a lot of these
smoking barns at certain times a year. But we
go up there. There's a place that, uh, that we

(20:32):
can. That's an outfitter that you can
float the Red River. You ever been up to the Red River?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (20:37):
I've never done the Red River.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (20:38):
Okay, how did they make it red?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: It's, uh, it's flows with the blood
of, uh, tourists.
It's got piranha in it, you know.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: So this. This outfitter, though, happens to.
To, uh.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: He owns the.
The.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: The farm where the,
um. The. The witch, um.

(21:00):
Use your words.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I'm trying to use my words.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:03):
The Bell witch.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: The Bell witch. Thank you.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:04):
I kept.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I kept thinking Blair, and I'm like.
Derek Bell and them.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, so the Bell witch, uh,
barn or a farm and cave is up
there. And you can go to this guy's actual property, and he's
an outfitter, but you can also tour.
Like, is it like custom? Like mountain and gear
wear?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: No, it's a, uh. It's an outfitter for the river.

(21:26):
What's an outfitter?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: An outfitter means they give you the.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:28):
Rafts or canoes, original canoes or whatever.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:33):
Urban outfitters.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:34):
No, no.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:34):
Like, what does he sell clothes out there?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:36):
It's a canoe. It's a backpack. Well, it's a
scooter, and you can go and.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:40):
I'm just asking for our cat, our, you know, listeners.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Okay, thank you for clarifying that.
Just, you know, they might not know. They don't live here.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Hey, but it's a great place to go, man. You go up
there, you get in a rat, uh, they give you an inner
tube, and you put your beer in a cooler in the
middle. You strap them together, you float down with
your buddies. You can smoke, you can, you know, enjoy a

(22:01):
beverage.
If you are visiting here and do that, the
best thing to drink on the water on a good hot
day is chocolate milk.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Chocolate milk.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (22:10):
Shut up.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Chocolate milk.
Chocolate milk.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:16):
Take you A gallon out there in your cooler.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (22:18):
Uh, do not, do not listen to camp counselor
barter over here. He. He is telling you those
lies for his own effect. Uh,
so they do, they do tubes.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, they do the tubes. About a two hour floats. Just really
fun. But the cool thing is, is you're on that you're on the property with
the, the bell witch. Uh, and

(22:39):
they have a place you can go and you can
tour it. You can get, you know, the, your schwag, your
bell witch swag.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:45):
Do a seance.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: It's in. It's interesting. Yeah, they actually, if you look at
it, they have actual like covens that come out
there in Halloween.
Oh, yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: And rent the property and do this weird stuff at
Halloween, so.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (22:57):
Oh, that's gonna be a no for me, dog.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:59):
Yeah, I mean, I'd watch it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (23:01):
It's gonna be a no for me.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:02):
Whatever.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I'm not saying I've done it. I'm just telling you that he's not.
Saying he hadn't done it either.
Uh,
all right, so when we talk about the Icarus. All right, what are we going
to rate it here? We're going to go with a
four.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Good consistency, Good consistency.
All in all, Jake Wyatt, that, you know, Neil Garcia
and his team, like,

(23:24):
magnificent. I always forget that that
says magnificent.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (23:28):
And I don't we all.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:30):
And I just start stepping all over it,
you know. Uh, but anyway, Neil Garcia and his team, like,
they, they're putting out some quality cigars and I think if you
haven't tried them, I think that you need to check
them out and give them a try. Uh, just for
consistency and flavor and
all around presentation. The cigars look appealing,

(23:51):
you know, and I think for me that's even a bonus. Like when, you know,
we've talked about the past when we go into a humidor
and we don't know what we want to smoke. Well, we're
visual people. You know, if something looks, you
know, sexy or whatever we want to call it, it'll. We'll
go after it. Right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (24:06):
Well, I think we've had the conversation here a couple of times about,
uh, what was it? A.J. fernandez, you know,
non bands, no less. Yeah, you know, we were
talking about, you know, it takes a surgical precision
to unwrap these things and smoke them. Um, and yeah,
a lot of them can be really ornate and I think that Jake Wyatt is,
is really smart in that perspective.

(24:28):
From, you know, one band, the band's got a QR code on it, leads
you to their website, gives you. Or, sorry, YouTube video.
But the website's also very comprehensive, gets you a lot
of information. So you. In the
snippet on the front end, they say that they have the consumer in
mind.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (24:43):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (24:43):
And I think that that's huge because.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (24:45):
Being user friendly is huge.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (24:47):
Super user friendly, but also introductory.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (24:49):
Right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (24:50):
And so it takes away a lot of that, you
know, maybe kind of fear around getting into
cigars because you don't really know what you're getting into.
Uh, so being able to go in and do a little bit of research and get some
backstory, uh, and a little bit of guidance on where you're
going. And instead of
draping up and dripping out these cigars,

(25:10):
right. They do some fun things with the wrappers that
make them a little bit more enticing.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: They're not putting it in the band. So you're not, you know, you don't.
You're not having to, like you said, really just like tear the
cigar apart just to get the band off. They're putting it in the
actual wrapper.
So also to the band's really sturdy and yeah,
super easy to just pop off of these things and,

(25:30):
you know, get to enjoy and. And I think
that just really lends into their entire ethos
of, you know, if you're going to take the time out of your
day to sit down and spend
an hour on something, you know, that we're passionate about, we
want to share that with you and also make that experience
as enjoyable as possible. So,

(25:51):
you know, we, we take a lot of the, you know,
kind of, you know, ornamental things
that you have to remove off of the
cigar and actually concentrate into putting
those little pops of flair.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (26:06):
I think people spent more time making a better
cigar than putting on their cigar.
You know what I'm saying?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, yeah. Well. And you know,
they, uh, they have another one they didn't send us that
was the, uh, the candela.
What is it the, uh, lucidity or.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: No, it's the, uh, uh, lucid, uh. Interval.

(26:27):
Yeah, lucid interval.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: And actually that one, that's a.
You know, I don't like candelas. Yeah,
but, but I liked that candela, which
is really strange for me.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: And it's, it's, it's funny because the way they blend
it, you have so much, you know, you get. You kind
of get that grassy taste in the candela
sometimes.
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Um, but that one, the way they blend it was. It, it

(26:49):
really fit.
Hang on, I'll tell you about it in just a second.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (26:52):
Yeah, Barger actually gave me One,
Uh, and same thing. I'm normally not a huge
candela fan.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
Uh, this one, even though it is candela, it looks a little bit
like a darker shade. Right. So maybe
it's from a different part of the plant which lends
into. Even though the leaf is still green,
it having a little bit more of that

(27:14):
familiar or approachable flavor
profile.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (27:17):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (27:18):
As. As a lot of their other blends.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (27:19):
So what they say on that. And I know they didn't send us some, but.
But we had some because we do support J Quiet, and they
should have. Yeah. The J Quiet Lucid Interval is an
exquisite candela wrapper with a unique combination of
smooth cream and bold, buttery flavors
that make a cigar one of a kind and must be
experienced. It's a candela wrapper, Dominican

(27:39):
binder, and a Dominican filler.
Um, I,
uh, I hate candelas.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
But I have nothing but good things. Yeah, I think that sucks.
I think it sucks, but I got nothing but good things to say
about Lucid Interval, actually.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
Which is very strange for me. And if Mike was
here, he'd go, what?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.

(27:59):
Huh? Huh? What?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Robert was the one that told me about it, and I was like, uh.
Yeah, but you can't trust Robert.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Well, you know, flavor profile. That's kind of why I was like a
candela.
A straw.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (28:14):
Probably mixes his tea.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Ain't nothing wrong with that.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:22):
Yeah. But anyway, I, you know, even
here I'm looking at their website right now, and it's just so.
Everything about it is user friendly.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (28:30):
I'll do this clean, it looks like. Also, um.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:33):
Oh, it looks like we didn't get the Maverick.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (28:35):
The Maverick, which may be something newer in their line.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:37):
All right, Neil. Have to send us some Maverick.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (28:39):
Another San Andreas Maduro, where they.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:42):
That looks good.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (28:43):
The bondage and fillers a little bit, which, uh, looks
incredible.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:46):
That does look incredible.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Come on, Neil.
Uh, step it up, buddy. Yeah, we're gonna have
to have a conversation with that because.
Yeah. But anyway, so overall,
I think, like, you know, we. We've hit
on every. Every couple of time we start talking, man.
This is, uh, this is a cigar smoker.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Cigar. Yeah.

(29:07):
Like, I haven't had a bad
one, you know, and that's something to
say.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, you're gonna have to find. Go out and find this. If. If
your local shop doesn't have it, you know, ask
them to. To reach out to bring it in. Bring it in.
Because they will definitely sell these
out.
Yeah, they will definitely Sell them out for sure.

(29:29):
Um, but you know, and even that. So like
when we start talking about the Icarus and I want to, I just want to
touch back on these cigars a little bit when we come back from a
break. Um, but definitely want to,
want to expand a little bit more because
we kind of jumped in here, boys, and.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: We just, we kind of flew through it.
We hit the ground running. That's okay. It's

(29:51):
this new time signature. We're still figuring it out, so
we'll be
so rich. What is your favorite cigar in this lineup?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I mean, I've got to go with the Herbert Spencer. Yeah,
yeah, absolutely.
What are you pairing it with? Some peach tea maybe.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (30:12):
Yeah. Tell us more about this peach juice.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, peach juice, man.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (30:15):
Listen, you want to talk about peach tea for a second? There's a new
Nashville company that's making tea and
lemonade in cans. 16 ounce cans.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: You're mixing it.
No, no, no, no, no. They make a, uh, peach tea.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Peach tea.
I've been getting it over at Roy's Meat Market.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (30:30):
Roy's Meat service.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (30:31):
Yeah. Meat service. Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: So he services the meat.
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: He doesn't market it, he serves.
That's right. He services the hidden jam.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (30:38):
Dude.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (30:39):
For real. But they've got this Nashville made peach tea and
I've never seen anywhere else.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I'm telling you, it's amazing. It's good stuff. Yeah, yeah.
And I got this juice from my wife. She was making
this tea. She had this, found this, you know,
TikTok video, whatever. I'm just going to
ignore. Anyways, um, and it was one of
those things. Well, you know, let me just try a little bit this with the

(31:00):
cigar and it wasn't overly sweet.
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Um, so, you know, I like, you know, I don't. I go with
the non alcoholic, you know, pretty consistent there.
So I'm always looking for new things to pair these
with and sometimes it's difficult to find because
you're trying to go away a little bit from the sweetness.
Sure.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: So that it doesn't overwhelm, you know, the cigar.

(31:22):
But you can still kind of cleanse the palate.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (31:24):
And, and that's a big part of it. Right there is the, the
pallet cleansing piece. Right. And if you have something
a lot of times that is
maybe a little bit too sweet,
it. It's a, It's a real nice hard reset. Especially for
something that's going to kind of stick to you, like smoke.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
Where you get that hard,

(31:45):
you know, juxtaposition that the comparison of
you Know those woody, oaky,
coffee, piney, you know, flavor
profiles. And you get something that sets you just
all the way back to neutral before you get back into a
smoke. And then fun, uh, fact. Oh,
fun fact. Yeah. Fun fact is that

(32:06):
if, if you are newer to smoking cigars,
cigar 101, you get a little bit of a nicotine, uh,
buzz, and maybe it's a little overwhelming. Something
that has a high sugar content will offset
that nicotine buzz. So a lot of places will tell
you, you know, have some candy, sugar cube under the
tongue, drink a Coca Cola. You know, just something

(32:26):
that's got a high content of sugar
will help you, uh, high fructose, get
off that nicotine. Uh, high, which, you know.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah, you just got to get in front of a little bit. If, because if you get
too much into that nicotine and it's,
uh, you're kind of behind it,
it can kind of sneak up on you.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:43):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (32:43):
It'll ruin your day.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: It can. It can.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:45):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: We've all been there, right? We don't, we don't like to talk about that part of
it.
And your toilet. Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (32:53):
Yikes.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:57):
But anyway, just, um, wanted to.
What was your favorite, Ben?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (33:01):
Uh, my favorite is actually the lucid.
Um, you know, I think that it has,
uh, the body behind it that stands up to that, you know, kind of
spice forward Habano wrapper, which is something that
I really enjoy. Um,
and you know, outside of, you know, the, the branding and
the packaging, which I think we, we've talked, uh, at length

(33:22):
about, is, uh, this thing
packs a little bit more of that nicotine strength
punch, which is also something, you know, that
I'm looking for. Yeah, right. Uh, especially
someone that smokes, uh, a couple of cigars
a day. Right. Uh, you know, something lighter,
something easier, uh, is great, like the, like

(33:43):
the appendix too, to kind of start the day. But you know,
mid afternoon, early evening, you know, I'm looking
to kind of start a fire a little bit and up
it, you know, get a little nicotine.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (33:55):
Yeah, that Icarus is definitely up there for that,
for sure.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (33:59):
I mean, I said the lucid, but Icarus is up there too.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:02):
For me, it's the Icarus. I mean, the lucid. Yeah, that's
probably my favorite in the, in the bunch here. Um, I think
for consistency purposes, though, that Herbert Spencer or the
appendix.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:11):
Yeah, I mean, that, that Herbert Spencer.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:13):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:13):
Uh, box worthy. And, and I think another fun
fact about Jake White Cigars is that their boxes
on their core line are 22
cigars.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:22):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:22):
Not two box, not 20.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:25):
You know why that is?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:26):
I do.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:27):
Go ahead.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:28):
Ah, yeah. Uh, so it's an ode to, uh, four
generations of Neil Garcia's
family wearing the number 22 on the jersey, playing
baseball.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:37):
Uh. Oh, really? Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Interesting.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:39):
And I just think that, like, that's super fun. Those little Easter eggs. Like, those are
the things that really make me tick.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: What.
You know, as a consumer and the.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: You know, that's throughout the cigar industry
that, you know, we talk to these guys at pca, and they're
telling their story. It's all about the story.
Right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:54):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Their cigars aren't just like a product. It's like, I'm telling
this story.
I just. Man, I love. I love that
about people.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
And I love that about cigar manufacturers. I hate when
you go to a cigar manufacturer, like, at PCA or somewhere,
and they sit down and try to just fluff you.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
And you're like, I, uh, see through the crap. Just tell

(35:14):
me what you got, or give me a cigar and move me on my
way. I, like, don't spend an hour telling me about these
fields and somewhere that if you build it, they
will come. Like, you know, God didn't
part the clouds and tell you to plant crops here.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (35:28):
Well, I think that they also, uh.
That is. Is a really good point.
Back to the experience that you have if
you're hanging out in a cigar lounge. You never know who
you're gonna grab a seat beside in a cigar lounge, and
you're gonna be there for a minute. Some big shot, you know,
y' all are chopping it up, and all of a sudden you find out
that, you know, him and his granddaddy and his great

(35:51):
granddaddy and his great, great, great. They all wore
the same number. Playing baseball.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (35:55):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (35:56):
You know, at the local community park right down the
road. And. Yeah. Farm league or,
uh, made it to whatever, you know, level of
office they made it in with.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:06):
Semi pro. Was that right? He was all the
way up to aaa.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:10):
And that ain't nothing to shake a stick at. No, that's ball.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:12):
I ain't doing it. My big. My big butt ain't doing it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:15):
Yeah. I mean, I'm a local legend in
the church league, Softball.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:19):
Uh, that's right. I'm a kickball guy.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:21):
You know, Home run derby at the
Horizon First. Horizon Sounds Baseball park here.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Nice.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:29):
Uh, did you get a home run?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:30):
No. Triple A ball, man. So that
day you can rent it out in advance, but they don't, like,
reschedule. So if, uh,
the local triple A teams away, you can pay,
uh, pretty reasonable sum of money to go take
you and your buddies out there and hit home run derby or
hit batting practice, uh, out on the field.

(36:52):
Uh, but it had rained the day before.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:54):
Love it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:55):
And the field was too wet for them to let
us. To let us go out and
actually hit on the field, so we got to spend our time in
the cage, you know? So had that cage not restricted
me, there could have been a couple of dingers in there. Yeah, I think
I still got it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (37:10):
Couple of dingers. Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (37:11):
Hit a golf ball pretty well.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (37:12):
So you'd smack the crap out of a golf ball, that's for sure.
Me, on the other hand, I'll hit it every 30 yards. I can
make.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (37:22):
No pictures on the scorecard.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (37:24):
That's right. That's right, that's right. Well, listen, we had a really good
time with this lineup, Neil, you and your team. Thank you
guys for making this happen. Um,
we really appreciate it, and we really hope to look forward to
working with you all again in the future.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: And, hey, next time you're in town, let us know.
Yeah, let us know for sure. And hit me up. Definitely. You can
send us some of those, uh, JW Mavericks.

(37:46):
For sure, for sure.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (37:48):
But anyway, some les in there, too, so.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (37:50):
That's right. That's right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (37:52):
We ain't scared.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (37:53):
We ain't scared. That's right. Uh, so anyway,
folks, thank you for listening, and, uh, I'd like to thank all my
host, good Old Boy Rich.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Hey, just glad to be here, coach.
You are glad to be here, that's for sure.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (38:06):
There's no crying in baseball.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (38:07):
There is no. Dude, I love that movie as a kid, especially when
he throws the mitt and hits Wilson in the face and he just
goes.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: You'Re gonna lose.
We're gonna win. I
love that movie. That's good Old Boy Barger telling you to keep on smoking
no matter what you're smoking. And, uh, we thank you all for
listening to us and enjoy the rest of your day.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
