On the next episode of Sips, Suds and smokes.

>> (00:03):
Rice's Cubanos was founded in 2003 by Rome
Adamano, his wife Maria, and their son Hugo.
Today, Hugo is, uh, president of the company and
Montero is the executive vice president. It's the
Honduran operation that rolls some of the illusion
cigars, many Alec Bradley lines, and a variety of

(00:25):
private labels. Now the company wants to be better
known to the end consumer and has launched four
new cigars bearing its own name. Each one is made
with Honduran tobaccos. So these are all Honduran
puros. That means the wrapper, filler, and binder
are all from Honduras. They range in an intended
power from somewhat mild to somewhat strong. All

(00:48):
the cigars are rolled with two binders and
wrappers grown in, uh, trojas.

>> Announcer (00:53):
We'll be right back after this break. Brought to

(01:18):
you almost live from the dude in the basement
studios.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (01:21):
Why?

>> Announcer (01:22):
Because that's where the good stuff is. Sips, Suds
and smokes with your smoking host, the good old
boys.

>> (01:51):
Hey, man, got a light?

>> Announcer (01:53):
It's time for smokes.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (01:58):
Hey, guys. Welcome to the smokes episode where
everything in life is worth the. You know, words
are hard today. Yep. Everything already good in
life is worth discussing. Why do we say this? I
don't know. So I'd like to introduce my co. Uh,
host to you. I got good, uh, old boy Benjamin on
the ones and twos. Hey, hey. Next to him, I got

(02:19):
good old boy Richie. Here I am. And then we got
Mike, uh, back from, uh, the jail. Right. Looks
like, uh, you're pulling up the rear today. Didn't
have anything better to do. Only so many Matlock
episodes to watch.

>> (02:31):
Well, you know, I think you have to have a goal,
and I think that, um, Matlock is, uh, a poorly
misunderstood program.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (02:39):
It is. Our smoke segments are all about cigars
and, well, anything that's smoked. And as for this
episode, we're going to cover cigars from races,
Cubanas, and possibly choices for golfing, guitar.
I don't know. I probably didn't say that. Rices,

(02:59):
Races, Cubanos.

>> (03:00):
Riceies.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:01):
Riceies. Okay. And we're gonna go over.

>> (03:04):
I said it right?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:05):
Yeah, you think you said it right? Yeah. We're
gonna go over the construction of.

>> (03:08):
These cigars, and I watched your video talking to
him, and that is how he said his. His brand name.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:14):
You know what? That's not fair. That's not fair.
What?

>> (03:17):
Using your own. Using your own video against.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:20):
Maybe I forgot interview. Maybe I forgot. Maybe I
forgot.

>> Announcer (03:23):
Really?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:24):
I did 41 interviews in three days.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (03:26):
It's on the Internet.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:27):
Yeah, I know.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (03:28):
And go back and watch the tape.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:31):
Uh, roll that beautiful bean like Mike did. Yeah,
that's right. And we'll be rating these cigars
from 1 to 5, with 5 being the best. Benjamin's
going to give us an example. Go ahead and pick our
example for ratings today, Benjamin.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (03:42):
Yeah, so we'll be smoking and discussing the
cigars and rating them with our sip suds and
smokes, smokes ratings plus our signature sounds.
Here's one of those examples. Three. I'd smoke
this again.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:56):
I knew he'd pick three.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: All right, if you are a cigar newbie, fret not. We
got you, boo. We got you covered in our cigars one
on one episodes where all of this cigar speak will
be decoded just for search for sip suds. Cigars
101. And that episode should pop right on up and
follow the link in our show notes.

>> (04:17):
Do you think we should have like a warm up, you
know, episode where we can all read words on a
page?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (04:23):
Maybe we should just read.

>> (04:24):
No, but I can't do that.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (04:26):
Or maybe we should just do a read through. You
know, like actors.

>> (04:29):
We had a chance to smoke all these cigars in
advance, and most of us are going off our notes we
recorded at the time. Some of us will be using the
Barger dartboard methodology where we might recall
some of that information and proportional to the
dosage flowing through our system at that
particular moment.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (04:49):
Listen, you guys think that that's a bad thing?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (04:51):
One odd dart bore method?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (04:53):
Yeah, that's right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (04:54):
Let me cover my good eyes.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (04:55):
Listen, if you got two eyes, uh, there's two
dartmoors.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (04:57):
You know what?

>> (04:58):
If you made that a video, it still would not be
correct. Yeah, so well, I get to read the
background on Rice's cabanos because I can handle
all the big words. And the most likely candidate
not to be pharmaceutically enhanced at the moment.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: That's debatable.
Why is everyone looking at you?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (05:16):
I resemble that remark.

>> (05:17):
Uh, if you smoke cigars for a long time and study
the names of the factories behind the brands,
you've likely come across the name Rice Cubanos.
Rice's Cubanos was founded in 2003 by Rome
Adamano. I'm, um, probably hosed that his wife
Maria, that I didn't get wrong. And their son

(05:38):
Hugo. Uh, today Hugo is, uh, president of the
company and Montero is the executive director,
vice president. It's the Honduran operation that
rolls some of the illusion cigars. Many Alec
Bradley lines and a variety of private labels. Now
the company wants to be better known to the end
consumer, um, and has launched four new cigars

(06:00):
bearing its own name. Each one is made with
Honduran tobaccos. So these are all Honduran
puros. Um, that means the wrapper, filler and
binder are all from Honduras. They range in an
intended power from somewhat mild to somewhat
strong. All the cigars are rolled with two binders
and wrappers grown in trojas.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (06:22):
I didn't think any of these are strong.

>> (06:24):
Um, Honduras. To work on this expansion and
transformation, Rice's brought on Ralph Montero,
who used to be Alan Rubin's right hand man. Alec
Bradley Cigars. Uh, Rice's Cubanos had a line
before called Rice's Cubanos 1941, which was
distributed by Alec Bradley when it was owned by

(06:45):
the Reuben family, but they dropped in 1941. That
brand was only sold for a year or so. So if you
saw it, then good luck. And so, um, but it was
never their main focus of their business. And so
that brings us to our first cigar in the lineup,
which Rich is going to introduce for us.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah. So Raices Cubanas Classico is blended to be

(07:07):
the mildest of the new cigars. Made from an all,
uh, Honduran blend, Though Classico leads towards
mild to medium strength, it doesn't shy away from
delivering a richly satisfying flavor profile.
Each puff greets the palate with smooth, creamy
notes balanced by subtle sweetness that lingers.
Hints of toasted nuts and whispers of spice create

(07:31):
a refined complexity.
How many marketing meanings does it take to
actually decide that you're going to use the word
whisper? Yeah, it's like. No, no, no, it's. It's
just a little bit. No, no, it's a whisper.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (07:43):
I'm just waiting for someone. I'm just waiting for
someone to sample George Carlin and be like the
thing. Flams, flams and smokes.

>> (07:52):
Can't we just have a normal marketing meeting
where we just make up words that actually are
completely meaningless?

>> Announcer (07:58):
Yes.

>> (07:59):
At the end of the day, perfect.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: So, um, yeah, they described this as a meat, a
mild, medium blend.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:05):
Who did?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Well, I guess the company that made it okay.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (08:08):
Yeah, hence they. They who?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:10):
What do you mean they?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Uh, the rapper is from the, uh, Trojes region of
Honduras over a binder from the. Okay, did you say
Thomastron valley in Honduras?
4.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Four fillers inside, each of which come from one
of those two growing regions.

>> (08:28):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:28):
Words are hard, aren't they? Right? You know,
yeah. Make fun of me more.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I'm getting there.
That's real cool. I'm getting better.

>> (08:34):
I can do that.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:35):
Yeah, shut up, Richard. Benjamin, what you got for
us? Or do you guys want to talk about this
Classico and how mild and medium it was?

>> (08:49):
Well, I read. I actually wrote down the word very
mild.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:51):
Yes.

>> (08:52):
So, I mean, there you go.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:54):
I thought that this. Yeah, it was very much on the
mild side. Um, but it had good flavor. The first
third for me was. Was pretty good. It kind of
trailed off and got that little dirt taste towards
the end, though, for me. So.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (09:09):
Yeah. So for this one was one of those where I'm
glad that I was in the activity, um, that I was in
while I was smoking the cigar. Right. So this is
the one that I took out on the golf course.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (09:20):
Oh, yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I thought you were gonna say you were using the
restroom.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (09:22):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (09:23):
That's wild. You were scuba diving.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (09:26):
Yeah. Underwater basket weaving while I was
enjoying the Rice's Cuban Classico. Um, but it's
one of those things where, um, it's not always the
cigar that creates that experience. And so while
this may have been, um, very, very mild. Right. I
think this is a beginner's cigar.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (09:49):
Right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (09:49):
This is something that you could introduce
somebody to cigars with. Sure. And it not be
offensive, uh, and be something that was
enjoyable. Um, being on the golf course and
smoking that cigar while playing, um, golf or out
in the yard, you know, doing chores or something
like that. I think it's. It's a great pairing.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:06):
Good chore for the. Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (10:08):
100 dog walker. That's it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:10):
Yeah. No, I. I thought it had, like, I liked the
flavor, but it wasn't like, I'm not just gonna
rush out and buy these.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (10:16):
Oh, no.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:17):
You know, but it was, ah, for what it was worth,
it was absolutely.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (10:21):
It was not knocking anybody down. No, it's pretty
straightforward, for sure.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:25):
Well, what do we got for a rating here? We got a
three sound effect.

>> (10:35):
I'm getting there.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:35):
Yeah. Come on now. Sound effects are hard. Yeah, I
know. That's right. Everything's hard today.
Everything's hard. But hey, we're gonna be right
back after these few messages. After these
messages, will be right back. Remember that from
our childhood?

>> (10:52):
Yeah. Was that helpful?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:54):
Yeah.

>> (10:55):
Okay.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (11:00):
And welcome back, sports fans. Oh, uh, wait, wrong
podcast. Uh, we're gonna talk. We just got done
talking about the Racy's Cubanos Classico. Uh, we
gave it a smokes rating of 3 for those that didn't
hear. And up next, Benjamin is going to talk some
more. Tell us something, Benjamin. Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (11:18):
On the stronger side are the racist Cubanis Liga
Das and, um, the C5 black. Liga Das is made with
mostly Honduran tobaccos, but one of the binder
leaves is from Estell, Nicaragua. A blend truly
fit for kings. Crafted with sophistication, this
cigar offers a complex medley of flavors born from
a masterful combination of seven distinct

(11:40):
tobaccos. Each variety was meticulously chosen to
harmonize perfectly quickly, delivering a rich,
layered experience that evolves with every draw,
from the first light to the final note. Uh, rapper
is, uh, Tras Honduras binder is Yamashan Valley
and Nicaragua Esteli. And then the filler is also
from Honduras. The Yamastron and Troas regions.

(12:04):
Um, this one was a. A little bit of a let down for
me just because, uh, the.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (12:11):
Really.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (12:12):
Well, so the shade of the wrapper right in that
darkness, I was looking for something that was a
little bit more punchy, right. And then you see
that it has a little bit of that, um, Estelle
tobacco in it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (12:26):
Okay.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (12:26):
And so you're looking for some of this, um, so
earthy tones, a little bit more strength. But I
found it to be a lot more medium, maybe medium
plus still, some of those, like, dark shade
tasting notes, some pepper on it. The retro hell
was actually pretty nice.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (12:45):
So, uh, before we talk a little bit more about
this one, I want to let you guys know a little
secret. So they sent me two sizes of these things.
Everyone got different sizes. Okay, so the plot.
Thick.

>> (13:00):
I know.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:00):
So two people got the perfecto torpedo of the. Of
the League of del Rey.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (13:07):
The C5.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:07):
Yeah, the C5. And two people got robustos. So who
got robustos?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I think I got the.
So you two got the robustos, and we got the
perfecto torpedoes.

>> (13:17):
All right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:17):
Okay. So what you're talking about, and this is.
Goes into play with how size. Different variations
taste different. You know, my favorite size.
What's my favorite size, Mike?

>> (13:32):
Uh, petite.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:33):
Petite Lance. That's right. That's right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (13:36):
The pause right there with the, with.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:37):
The cherry, it has the best flavor. So you guys
got the robusto, and your thoughts on the robusto
were.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (13:44):
Yeah, I just thought, you know, I thought it was
going to have, uh, a little bit more meat on the
bone, if you will. I thought it was going to have
a little more heft to it, um, and just found it to
be, you know, a lot of those darker shade flavor
profiles. Right. Like the, The. The black coffee
is there. There's some, you know, like, cocoa on
it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:03):
Yeah, sure.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (14:03):
That you Know, black pepper.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:05):
Um, so.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (14:06):
But not the. Not the real weight that I was
thinking that it was going to.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:10):
So that's funny because everything that you didn't
have, I had in that cigar.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (14:17):
We try to say you're better than me or something.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:19):
No, no, no. I'm trying to say I'm going to give
you one of the perfectos to smoke. Yeah, yeah. So
I. I just wanted to. That was an interesting thing
that happened. And I was like, you know what?
Everyone's gonna get randomized here.

>> (14:32):
That's why I was looking at him with a bit of a
puzzle. Because I was like, right, this does not.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:36):
Because absolutely was this. I, uh. This is my
favorite cigar in the lineup.

>> (14:41):
Exactly. In fact, I was going to lead off by
saying that is. That is. This was my favorite, you
know, out of the lineup. In fact, this is twins.
The only time that I wrote the word complex was on
this cigar note.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:53):
Put this in the show notes. This is the first time
me and Mike have ever had the same opinion.

>> (14:58):
Wow.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (14:58):
Hot dog.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (15:00):
That's big.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Write it down.

>> (15:01):
I don't think there's enough sanitizer to get
through this.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: So that's funny because I had. I mean, almost word
verbatim, I had the same opinion as Ben. Huh. I.
Huh, mean. Because I was waiting for, like, this
real complexity with these seven. These seven
layers and all that. And I felt that, you know, I
thought it was blended well and I thought it
tasted okay, but it just, it. It really wasn't

(15:22):
that much bolder than the classico. To me. It was
just kind of, you know, blah. On that.
In that note, um, well, here's the rest of my
notes. Beyond just complex, I wrote down very
nutty with like, some black walnuts kind of
leading the way. Um, this is not a blend that has
harmony. It's like three siblings fighting over

(15:43):
the last popsicle. Um, so, you know, mine. No,
yours, mine, mine, yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (15:51):
Uh, well, Mike has a family of 16.

>> (15:52):
So, um, I actually, actually paired this with the
cocktail was an old fashioned, uh, that I made
with Davis county bourbon. Um, but the drink
completely overshadowed the cigar. So. Yeah, um,
yeah, it was, you know, it was. It was complex in
that it had a lot of these individual things that
were going on, but they just were not working

(16:14):
harmoniously.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:15):
So this is. To me, this would have been like a
cigar you smoke alone. Like, no pairing.

>> (16:21):
So nobody can hear the screen.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:22):
No, no, but like, like, you're talking.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (16:25):
About what you just.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:27):
Like what you just said is your bourbon
overshadowed that cigar.

>> (16:32):
It's Because I make great old fashioned.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:34):
No, uh, I disagree with that statement, however,
that's another conversation. Um, but you know what
I mean, like, your punchy bourbon really
overshadowed and your flavor got lost, you know,
in their cigar.

>> (16:46):
It happens.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:47):
It does happen. But, like, I thought this cigar. I
didn't actually pair anything with this cigar. I
mean, I started smoking. It was like, you know
what? This is pretty good. I'm just gonna sit here
with it. And, um, I stayed with it. And. And it
was. That's what made it my.

>> (17:00):
So did you ever find that harmony with, you know,
the binder and filler or.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (17:05):
Yeah, I think.

>> (17:06):
Did it feel like it was fighting?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (17:08):
No. About halfway through, you know, you really.
Once it starts to heat up and then you let it sit
for a minute and then you pick it back up, it just
starts to blend.

>> (17:18):
Rich doesn't know how to do that.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (17:20):
Yeah.

>> (17:20):
Just smokes them like.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (17:24):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: If it doesn't smoke fast enough, I'm eating it.
That's right. I've seen him do this. It's fun.

>> (17:31):
I think, bro, what we should give as a gift to
Rich is actually a cigar metronome. It's like,
tick, tick, puff, tick, puff.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (17:40):
But no, I think this was a very beautiful. I think
this was a very beautifully blended, beautifully
blended cigar. And I. I enjoyed it. And it was. It
was probably my top. What do we got for it? Looks
like we're giving it threes. Yeah. Yeah. Well,
just as you guys know, everything good in life is
worth discussing. Uh, I said it this time.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (18:01):
Ding, ding.

>> (18:02):
Even. Amazing.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (18:03):
Even.

>> (18:05):
After five years, he finally figured out.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (18:08):
Even good golf attire to say on the tattoo. Yeah.
Uh, some of us play golf together, you know, and
my declarations are very much always. I'm about to
figure out how to hit my new driver. But on a
recent outing, Benjamin broke out some new shoes.
And boy, they fancy. Boy, they fancy. His
declaration was, these are some of the top rated

(18:29):
shoes. And how did that translate to improving
your score, Benjamin? I mean, give me another
minute and tell me about it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (18:37):
You know, uh, I used to have someone tell me in my
idol, it's got to be in you, not on you. Right. So
obviously the shoes didn't help, but at the same
time, you feel good.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (18:50):
Right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (18:51):
And so.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Are they helping you have more fun playing all the
time than.

>> (18:56):
They find of him the whole time?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (18:59):
More fun.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:00):
What's great is you don't trip over the laces.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (19:02):
They're all also not new. Had them for a while.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Okay.
I wear them semi. Um, often when I Play golf.
Right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:09):
You wear them when you don't play.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (19:10):
And Mike is just upset that he doesn't have the
fashion sense.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:15):
Oh, right. Yeah. His. His foot joys are probably
from 2008, guaranteed. Oh, yeah. He got him right
after law school.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (19:23):
I don't think he's ever changed the laces up.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:25):
Yeah, they're same. In fact, he hot glued the
laces together.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (19:28):
Yeah. They don't even make the golf shirt that he
was wearing.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:31):
No, no, no, no, no, no. Yeah. So I'll tell you
what, guys, we love to talk about golf, and we're
going to talk about golf while you guys listen to
some commercials and, uh, you don't have to hear
us anymore. All right, welcome back, folks. And
I'm going to tell you that I'm holding a shoe in

(19:52):
my hand.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I have to say, those remind me of some wallpaper
we found.
I think I had this wallpaper. Okay. Benjamin got
some. Not had the shoes. Mike didn't realize that
he had the golf shoes. We organized a golf outing,
which I actually couldn't make.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (20:11):
Bailed on.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (20:12):
I had to. Bailed. I had to. I bailed on it. And
then, uh, uh. But Benjamin broke out these fancy
shoes. Now, folks, I'm going to tell you, you
remember that wallpaper in your grandma's hallway
right before it transitioned to wood paneling?

>> (20:27):
Such a good example.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (20:29):
Right before it transitioned to wood paneling in
the kitchen.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: It's almost like a Hawaiian shirt to it.
But what's funny about it is it's almost like a
croc.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (20:40):
It is.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (20:40):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: It's kind of like.
Yeah, but it's like rubber and there's no laces
mode. Oh. Hands down, sport mode. Like, for sure.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: You know, you don't have to.
They just feel like something that like. Like the
dishwasher at the Mexican restaurant's going to
wear because he's going out after, uh.

>> (20:59):
Were you giving me count how many drives did you
top on the. On the front nine?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:04):
Yeah, I didn't keep count. I was the only one that
put legit birdies on the card that day.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:08):
Oh, yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:08):
Guaranteed that.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:09):
He did do that.

>> (21:11):
I had one.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:13):
Yeah. Almost, uh, drove the green. Oh, on a par
four.

>> (21:17):
Was it the shoes?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:18):
100.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:19):
Well, we're gonna play next week. We're gonna play
next week, and I'm not bailing.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:23):
What are you even talking. So that was the shoes.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:25):
Maybe these guys will all bail on me and I'll go
play with myself.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:28):
And also, do you know what from.

>> (21:30):
You know what this sounds? Is that Is that similar
to you?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:34):
That's, that's like a call home. That's. Do we
call those Poseidon's offering from.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:41):
The absolute legitimate website top five best dot
com.

>> (21:45):
Well, so that was the other part of the
conversation because when I asked.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:48):
These golf shoes are rated number one. So I
started top5best.com when I was.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:53):
Asked for washing dishes or golfing.

>> (21:55):
What part of goodwill did you find these shoes at?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:59):
Factory Direct, brother.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:00):
Which Goodwill.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: And how many people did you have.

>> (22:06):
Who rates golf shoes? I mean, where do you put
that on your resume? I rate golf shoes. I mean,
seriously, I just wish that somebody's job.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:14):
I just wish that you had the 50s wallpaper golf
bag to go with them.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (22:20):
Hey, Christmas is coming up. I'm telling you.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:22):
I'm telling you.

>> (22:23):
Well, we will definitely have a picture of these
golf shoes available on our episode. Um, it will
be the border of this episode. But if you
seriously, uh, just take a swatch of grandmother's
wallpaper. It looks exactly the same.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (22:36):
It was fashioned after the couch.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:39):
That's fine.

>> (22:40):
A wagon wheel.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Uh, the couch, uh, with the uh.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:44):
Plastic covering they used to put rice bags with.
With stuff on them back in the depression. Right.
That you would make into dresses.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
You think that's absolutely.

>> (22:53):
I hope you record your, you know, to have like a
whole section of your games with the shoes and
without the shoes to see. Exactly.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (23:02):
Yeah.

>> (23:02):
Uh, you know, which, which is the better
influence.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:05):
Now do these help you out at X Golf?

>> (23:10):
But I did volunteer to hold up a bedsheet all day
long because if I had stood 20ft in front of front
of him, he still would have topped it all day long
and not.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (23:19):
Hit the bed sheet.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:21):
Hey, I'm just glad he's not making fun of my golf
game simulator.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (23:23):
Golf is not good for your game. I'm just going to
get out there and say it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:27):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (23:27):
Ah, well, I got a false hope there.

>> (23:30):
I thought the discussion was good.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:31):
All right, so I'm about to go over the races.
Cubana C5R. Mhm.

>> (23:39):
Not even close.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:43):
Which the company says is the strongest of its new
cigar. Also has an Estelle Nicaraguan leaf in the
binder. Some of its power comes from the Honduran
wrapper grown in Trojes using the fifth priming
leaves from the top atop a tobacco plant. Uh, C5
Black draws its name and inspiration from El Corta
Cinco or the fifth priming. When the last and

(24:07):
uppermost leaf, known for their rich full body
character, are harvested from the plant. The
premier wrapper is the cornerstone of C5 Black,
infusing with a deep complexity and bold flavor
profile. Paired with carefully selected tobaccos
from the two renowned regions in Honduras. The
result is a cigar that both intensifies and

(24:28):
captivating, delivering an unforgettable smoking
experience from start to finish. The wrapper is
Honduras Trojes. The binder is Honduras chemistry
and Nicaragua Nesteli. The filler is Honduras
chemistrand and trojes. Well, it seems like that's
the three leaves they use for most of their line.

(24:51):
And so just like, you know, some of the other
stuff. This cigar was okay. It wasn't my favorite.
We all know what my favorite was, if you listen to
the earlier, but if you don't, it was the League
of Dores.

>> (25:04):
Yeah, this wasn't working for me. It was quite
bitter up front. Um, uh, the rest of my notes
here. A few burn line touch ups, kind of white
pepper seems to actually, you know, completely
dominate the flavor of the C5 black. Some wet
cardboard thing, I don't know, happening on the.
On the finish.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (25:21):
So what size did y' all get?

>> (25:23):
Uh, I don't. I don't know.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (25:25):
I think ours would have been the robusta. I think
Rich and I got the same.

>> (25:28):
Did you split sizes?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (25:29):
Sampler pack.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (25:30):
I split sizes on all four of these.

>> (25:32):
Wow. Okay. That makes this interesting.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (25:35):
Um, I thought would make it interesting.

>> (25:37):
I actually wrote down these words. This is not
working in any measure of harmony. So, um, I
actually paired this with a very nice evil twin
German pills, um, that was conditioned and. Oh, I
really like the beer. I did not like this cigar.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (25:51):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (25:51):
Ah, great.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Let's talk about the drinks.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (25:54):
Yeah, yeah. I mean, the cigar was okay. I mean,
like I said, it's. Well, you had a construction
issue. I didn't have a construction issue. And I
think you and me, Benjamin, got the same one of
these.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (26:04):
Okay.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (26:05):
So I didn't.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I. I found the construction on these, all of these
to be pretty good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Was yours a little nubby guy?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (26:12):
Yep.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (26:12):
Yeah, that's what me and you got. Yeah, you got
the robusto, didn't. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I definitely felt that these are not as strong as
they're advertised. Just like before. I like a
good strong cigar, and this is not it for me. It
was at best, maybe. Maybe a medium bold.
I mean, maybe a medium. I definitely agree with

(26:34):
medium bold. But I think that, uh, construction
quality. This is something that I found out, you
know, through going through this lineup is I
didn't have any construction issues. Um, now, you
guys might have had some construction issues. I
don't know.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (26:49):
Well, I think it's also really tough to nail that
down because imagine if you had a box of these
things.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (26:55):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (26:57):
Not all 20 or 25 or whatever are gonna smoke
perfectly. Sure, sure. Right. Um, it's a trick
that, you know, my old man kind of always
encouraged me to do. Uh, anytime I was, you know,
buying cigars and going into that box kind of
size, kind of try to grab one from the middle.
Just because the ones on the outside, you know.

>> (27:15):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (27:15):
Maybe. Maybe the box has a. A little bit of an air
leak, you know, or something like that. And so the
ones on the outside aren't getting anything. All
the care that you would probably, you know, give
to a cigar. So if you're just opening up a new
package, maybe grab one from the middle. Uh, you
probably just have your best odds there. And then
let the rest of them kind of mellow out a little
bit.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (27:35):
And my dad would say, hold your mouth.

>> (27:37):
Right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (27:37):
Yeah, sure. That's also a whole different episode.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (27:41):
That's right. It's for counseling. One, one.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (27:43):
But that being said, you know, I think I had the
same, uh, experience. The. The. Not the
construction issues like Mike had, but, you know,
real. Just kind of two, three notes right there.
They're kind of, you know, first, second, uh,
third. Third in the smoking the cigar. I don't
really, uh, see the. The lines of, you know,

(28:05):
continuation there. The. They're not offensive.
Right, right. The smoking experience is still
really nice. Uh, if I were in a humidor, what, I
smoke it again? Absolutely.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:15):
Right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (28:16):
No, um, but it's one of those things, you know, I
mean, I would smoke it again. Yeah, they're.
They're worth a revisit. But, you know, I think
that a lot of my preconceived notions about shade
and then blend probably hype me up a little bit
more for some of these interactions. Um, then, you

(28:37):
know, so my expectations were probably just a.
Instead of kind of going into it blind and just
smoking the cigar.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:43):
Right. Well, what are we going to rate it here,
boys? We're going to give it a three. So it's
pretty. Pretty, you know, decent ratings coming
through this stuff. Like I said, I. I wanted to
make it kind of interesting. Uh, and about how,
you know, everyone got different, you know, two
people got the same sizes and the other two got

(29:04):
different sizes. So I thought that was interesting
because that's going to make for some different,
you know, notes. When we talk about that in Cigar
101 and we talk about how size and things affect.
Yeah, but you know, the time of day, where you're
at, what you're drinking, who you're with, how mad

(29:25):
you are, what are your shoes like? Uh, all these
things can affect your.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (29:29):
How much ribbon you got on the golf course, about
your sick golf shoes.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (29:33):
That's right. All these things can affect cigars.
And we'll be right back. And welcome back to all
things that Mike has a problem with. Oh, wait,
that's the wrong show.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (29:45):
Um, no, it's not.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (29:46):
The other.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (29:47):
Oh, this is the show.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (29:48):
Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I got it. Right. So we just went
over the C5 black from, uh, Racis Cubanos. And,
uh, we gave it a rating of 3. So just make sure
you write that down, folks. If you're keeping
track with us, if.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (30:04):
You'Re keeping score at.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (30:04):
Huh, Home. That's right, that's right. And if
you're keeping score of how many words that got
mixed up or mispronounced. That's right, that's
right. Uh, but anyway. Yeah. So overall, what do
you guys think about this lineup? What do you
guys.

>> (30:20):
We still want stick.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (30:21):
Oh, do we? Oh, that's right. I forget. Mike, I'm
going over the GRD3.

>> (30:26):
Well, uh, the last stick, uh, we had in this
lineup is the GRD3. The GRD3 blend, um, which the
company calls medium and body, is also entirely
Honduran. It's a larger rain gauge, uh, has surged
in popularity. We set out to create a line that
celebrates this trend. Introducing Grand 3. Grand

(30:47):
3, a collection of three distinct sizes that
elevate the large ring gauge experience. Each
cigar in the line delivers smooth, medium bodied
flavors, perfect for any moment. Whether you're
looking for a quick escape. That would be my usual
thing around Barger. A quick escape, a leisurely

(31:09):
break you'll never find. An extended indulgence
session. Those are not words that I would use
around barger lightly. With Grand 3, you choose
the perfect size to fit your day wrapper with. Uh,
much of the same thing with troas binders from
Homistron, uh, Trios, and the two fillers from
Trojan.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (31:27):
What is it the fat guy said in Austin Powers?
Where's the baby? Yeah.

>> (31:31):
Um, uh, here's some of my own notes about meat.
The GRD3, very earthy with hints of cocoa. It's
the GERD3, a bit creamy, um, is very full smoke on
the draw. It's unbalanced with some spice coming
in the middle that, uh, clubbed. All that bitter,
creamy flavor on the front third. Uh, this is a

(31:54):
Ring gauge. That is not for the meek. Um, I did
not like how this felt in my mouth and my hand. It
was just. This is not it for me. Um, I actually
had this with a Havana Club Anejo rum, and it did
not pair very well at all with that, so.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:12):
Really? Which one?

>> (32:14):
The, uh, ring gauge did not pair well with the,
uh. With the Havana Club.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:18):
I thought it might have been the other way around,
so.

>> (32:22):
No, the rum is fine.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:23):
Yeah. It's a great club. We're all a part of it.

>> (32:26):
Right? Yeah. Jinnah know how to say I thought so.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:32):
This cigar was probably my second favorite. I did
like this cigar.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (32:36):
Same.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:37):
Uh, and I think we got the same size. Um, which
one? Uh, the GERD3. Which size?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (32:44):
It was pretty good.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:45):
It's pretty good.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Pretty good.
Yeah. Yeah. No. What. What size did you get?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I had the 660.
The 660. So. So we had the, uh, Robusto. Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (32:59):
The short boy.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (33:00):
Yeah. Short boy.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (33:01):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Now.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (33:01):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: 660, I think it was.
I'm, um.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I'm with Mike. It was way too. I had on my notes
smoky. Very smoky.
Well, it's a cigar.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (33:09):
Wow.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (33:12):
But what do you do with this? Yes. Smoke it.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (33:16):
You're smoking?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: No, it's just. I just felt like the. The ring
gauge was way too big. Um, I don't think the
flavors really, uh, were something I needed that
much.

>> (33:26):
It was one of those things where more is not
better.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Exactly.
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (33:30):
So I, uh. You know, the 660. Anything 60 for me is
just a, uh, no go.

>> (33:36):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (33:36):
Like, I'm not passing go. I'm not collecting 200.
I'm just not doing it because that's not. 48 to 50
is probably my sweet spot.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (33:46):
You know, I just don't think you get the
concentration of flavor right. In something that
is, ah, that large. I understand that there's a
market demand for them. I think if you're really
trying to. I think it's on a. Yeah, yeah, sure.

>> (34:00):
I think it's for people that are chewers.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:02):
Uh, but, you know, I think if you're really trying
to dial in, they.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:05):
Need to get chewing tobacco.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:06):
Yeah, all right.

>> (34:07):
I know, but I know people that. They don't smoke
cigars. They just chew cigars. And I'm like, what
was the point?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:12):
That's ridiculous.

>> (34:13):
Why'd you pay $12 for a stick?

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:15):
I've seen some, um, people pick these big cigars
because they think it's status.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: That's what I was gonna say.
And it's I think, you know, it'll take. It takes
me back to you remember when we went to Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I do.
And this was probably 2011, maybe at least 2011 to
the cigar International, uh, cigar fest. Right.

(34:35):
This first time we'd ever been anywhere cigar
related. This me and Richie went together.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Great time.
Me, him, Jason Harper and Andrew Hannigan.

>> (34:43):
That's right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:44):
Who drove the whole way almost you and me, baby.
That's right. That's right. I worked a 12 hour
shift and then we got in a truck, drove to
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I'll never forget it.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: And, and Stump met us there.
Yeah, Stump actually met us there and we were
there. But this guy, literally. I'm kidding, not
kidding. We get out of the car in the parking lot
and there's these older business type guys. This

(35:04):
guy's probably 6, 3, 6 4, 300 pounds. I mean, big
dude. Like he's not like a fat dude, but he's just
like tall and like a big dude, you know?

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (35:14):
Yeah.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (35:15):
He's like, hey brother, do you want a cigar? I
mean, we're just walking up to the event and I was
like, well, that's kind of why I'm here. And he
just reaches in his belly.

>> (35:25):
I'm here to inspect the paint.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (35:27):
Pulls out a cigar and just takes his cutter. It
cuts like half an inch off the stair, Hands it to
me. Oh. And I was like, no.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
I was like, thanks. I might have smoked m it but.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Just ruined it for me.

>> (35:41):
Thank you.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (35:42):
Yeah. Okay. Like those kind of people. That's,
that's the kind of people that those cater to.
Like business type. Think there's a status like
business type.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Or you know, maybe good old boy.
With the big truck.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Big cigar.
Maybe same guy with the lifting truck. Yeah.

>> (35:59):
You know, I, I know what would have made this
story so much better.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:02):
Strippers.

>> (36:03):
If somebody had been wearing these golf shoes.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:07):
You know, listen, I almost wore them.

>> (36:09):
If you had walked in with these golf shoes into
the cigar festival, I guarantee you he would have
not have, have taken off a half inch of that
cigar.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:18):
He probably wouldn't offered it to me, to be real
honest.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:19):
Yeah, Yeah. I just want to say this, that kudos to
that guy for, for inviting me. Not even knowing
who I was. Not even.

>> (36:30):
Oh, I'm sure he was well paid.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:31):
Well, sure. But like, what is cigars for if not.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:35):
That's right.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:35):
To engage, have conversations, meet new people.

>> (36:39):
I think it's to make fun of people that, that
smoke a 660 for sure.

>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:43):
But like that guy welcomed me in when he had, he
didn't need to. And so that's great. So what are
we gonna give this guy? We'll give it a three.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: Give it a three.
Well, what did you guys think about overall? The
raciest Cubanos?

>> (37:01):
You know, I kept on waiting. So the fact that they
are behind some really great sticks with some
other brands, I kept on waiting, you know, for
this to just come around to. To be a lot better.
And that just never happen.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin Good ol’ Boy Bark: I kept thinking maybe the next one will hit me
better. But I actually thought the Classico was

(37:24):
the best of all of these because it was just, um,
a lot, uh, more consistent and, um, I don't know,
just felt like, uh, something I would smoke again.

>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (37:35):
It. It's a great foundational smoke.
