Speaker 1 (00:03):
When police officer Matt Klein returns to the quiet coastal
town of Marshport, he hopes for a fresh start with
his family, but a series of brutal, inexplicable deaths begins
to unravel the town. At the center of it all
is an ancient evil bound to a seemingly harmless gift
of an antique advent calendar, a relic counting down to

(00:25):
the night when the light of Cristmas goes out. As
the days slip by, strange voices whisper through the walls,
people go mad, and reality itself starts to crack. The
deeper Matt digs, the closer he comes to facing an
evil that has been waiting for him for years. Now,
with his wife and sons in peril and the final

(00:47):
door of the calendar looming, Matt must confront the truth
some traditions were never meant to be completed. Twenty four days,
twenty four all leading to one unholy Christmas Eve. That's

(01:10):
just one of the teasers I've been working on to
promote Advent of Evil, written by Scott Donnelly, based on
a concept by yours truly. After a year of working
writing brainstorming planning, et cetera. The holiday horror novel Advent
of Evil is finally available for Kendall and soon November
fifteenth in paperback and hardcover, and then in twenty twenty

(01:34):
six an audiobook. I honestly don't know how Scott Donnelly
gets so much writing done, both for our micro Terrors
podcast that we've work on together, for his own adult
horror novels, working a real job, and now somehow getting
this epic tome done a year ahead of schedule and
still cranks out quality terror. Beginning December first, Weird Darkness

(01:58):
will release one chapter peray of the novel in audio form,
culminating in the climactic end on Christmas Eve. If you'd
like to read the story before then, you can find
it as mentioned on Amazon, currently on kindall coming out
in paperback and hardcover on the fifteenth of November. Some
of you may wish to follow along with the book
as you listen to the narration, or you know that

(02:19):
you're too impatient to wait to hear a full sixteen
hours or more saga spread out over twenty four days,
so you want to get it all at once, Or
maybe you'd like to purchase the novel as a Christmas
gift for a friend or loved one on your gift
list that loves horror novels. Now would be the time
to start Christmas shopping, that's for sure. We'll post updates

(02:39):
about the novel and also individual episodes of the podcast
chapters on the Weird Darkness website at Weirddarkness dot com,
slash Advent of Evil. That's Weirddarkness dot com slash Advent
of Evil. No space is just Advent of Evil. So
how did this all begin? Well, one of my YouTube
subscribers was listening to one of the Holiday Horrors episode

(03:01):
of Weird Darkness last year twenty twenty four and commented
that I should have an advent calendar of horror stories
for Christmas twenty twenty five. I'm pretty sure they meant
an actual physical calendar that I could sell online, which
would be a cool idea. But I began ruminating on it,
and an idea came to mind. Not a physical calendar,
and not a horror story for each day like an anthology,

(03:23):
but a single story that centers around a mysterious Christmas
Advent calendar. A twenty four episode saga beginning December first
and ending on the last day of Advent, December twenty fourth,
I contacted my buddy Scott Donnelly about the idea, asked
if you'd have any interest in teaming up with me
on a kind of odd a horror project I was

(03:44):
ruminating on, and he immediately replied with a resounding absolutely,
and boom we were off to the races and crafting
the story. I truly thought this would be a twenty
twenty six holiday season project due to the busy schedule
both Scott and I have, but as mentioned, Scott is
a machine and got the whole thing written and proof

(04:05):
read a full year in advance show off. I've done
a lot of nonfiction writing for the podcast, of course,
but I've not written a lot of fiction, nor have
I ever even attempted to write anything this daunting, So
I was really stoked that Scott was excited about teaming
up with me to make this happen. We brainstormed ideas

(04:25):
and went back and forth via email like squirrels on
a sugar high, and it's amazing how we both seemed
to be on the same page with just about every
idea each one of us came up with the conversation
was pretty much like this, Hey, what if we do this? Yeah,
that's awesome, and what if this happens? Ooh, I love that.

(04:45):
Hey do you think we should good point? Yeah, let's
do that. Etc. After looking at the finished manuscript that
I received a few days ago, it appears that on average,
the audiobook chapters will be approximately forty to forty five minutes,
give or take. This is twenty four days in a row,
so we're looking at a completed novel of sixteen hours

(05:07):
in length or more. Again. I'll be releasing the audiobook
chapter by chapter for twenty four days beginning December first
in the Weird Darkness Podcast, but the Kindle version is
already available if you want to read the story beforehand.
The paperback and hardcover versions will be available in November fifteenth.
Audiobook coming out after Christmas for obvious reasons. If this

(05:28):
is even half as popular as I'm hoping, it'll be
with you, my Weirdo family. This could very well be
another annual Weird Darkness holiday special, along with my other
ones like the Twelve Nightmares of Christmas, The Holiday Horrors,
Spooky Santa, and my Narration of a Christmas Carol. This
is going to be some frightening fun. It's the most

(05:50):
terror filled time of the year, with the kids screaming
loudly and men slicing proudly. Their wives here too, e
it's the most terror filled time of the year. Okay,
I'll stop now
