Speaker 1 (00:07):
By Billy cunning and the Great American Reds. Baseball kicks
off of the Dodgers about six ten to night, first
pitch about seven ten. Reds need to win this one.
Dodgers and Reds could be a preview of the nationally
pennant race between the two of them. At the end,
we'll see what happens. But we have more problems in
River City. As you may know, I've done a lot
of national interviews recently about what's happening in my hometown
of Cincinnati. It's all over the place except CNN, MSNBC
(00:30):
doesn't cover it, but it's everywhere else. And joining you
and I alis vike Ramaswami, the man who would be
the governor. He's leading in the polls by like thirty
eight points and he's got the Republican nomination sewed up.
And Viveke Ramaswami from Cincinnati. Welcome again to the Bill
Cunningham Show. And first of all, Avake, I want to
share with the American people of posting you had I
believe on excess, said the following yesterday. I spoke to
(00:52):
Holly earlier today, the woman tragically assaulted in Cincinnati this
weekend Holly's a single working mom who went to a
friend's birthday. It's unconscionable that there were no police presence
in the area of Cincinnati on Friday night Saturday morning,
or even an ambulance to take her to the hospital.
When you first saw the survey, what came to your mind?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
I was deeply saddened, and also, frankly, as somebody who's
born and raised and from the city of Cincinnati, Billy,
I'll be honest, I was a little bit ashamed to
see Cincinnati in the national news in that light. Cincinnati,
it's a great city with great values and great people,
and to see us on the national stage as exhibit
a of the breakdown of the rule of law and
(01:33):
country made me sad. It made me upset. It also
made me motivated, frankly, as governor to change that tone
in our state, to clean up our cities and bring
back the rule of law. And if I reflected on
it my first step, I thought, how could I be
a responsible, potential leader without at least listening to the
woman who was impacted by it, to hear her perspective,
(01:54):
and also, most importantly, to be able to provide comfort.
And if I was able to help in any way
as well, so I decided to give her a Paul.
We had a mutual friend and hutual contact in common,
and it was eye opening to listen to her. Thank
God that she's okay, thank God that she survived that,
and it appears to be although I think she's still struggling,
hopefully on a path to recovery. She re appreciated that.
(02:17):
And one of the things that stuck with me, Billy,
was that not a single local official, and not a
single elected official in our state government had yet reached
out to her. And this is I'm talking to her
days after the incident on Friday night. She was really grateful,
and I think that's the job of public leaders is
just to step up and listen, but at the same
(02:38):
time to take action to make sure something like this
doesn't happen again.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I know you're not living Columbus. You have nationwide connections,
but Cincinnati has gone through this for the last forty
or fifty years, and now every twenty years we have
riots of one type or another. It's some civil disobedience,
and then the city government works hard to provide more
social services. Right now, act for sincey has midnight basketball.
We have assuming pools that are open later. We have
(03:05):
hip hop dance lessons. We have all kinds of stuff
going on and seemingly and also those who are part
of this failure either don't attend or not in town,
have a pure of all. I have to have. Pure
of all is not in Cincinnati. He's somewhere else. He
skypes in every now and then. And the police chief yesterday,
Chief Fiji, and I have empathy for the woman. She
(03:27):
goes after the juvenile court system in Hamlet County, in
which we have a lousy judge who believes even those
teenage boys that use weapons get out on bond and
don't go to jail nothing. Everyone gets a one shot
at it, she says, literally. And then the police chief
said yesterday that we only we shut down the command
center about two am, and there were tens of tens
(03:49):
of thousands of people were in downtown Cincinnati at three
o'clock in the morning, and all told vivek Ramaswami, there
was one hundred and fifty thousand people that were there
and there was or no police protection. In fact, when
the event took place, the Chief of BLI said there
was three cops on duty between the Ohio River and
north of OTR three cops on duty, and this thing
(04:12):
was greatly delayed. So I'd ask you first, how's Holly
doing emotionally and physically and what is her plan going forward?
How serious were her injuries that looked terrible?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
She herges are from my sense of it talking to her, Billy,
pretty serious, and she is emotionally physically still recovering on
irrespectful of her privacy, but we wish her the best,
pray for her recovery and her family. That's what's most
important here. But she was also I have to say this, Billy,
and I frankly got her not only permission but encouragement
(04:43):
before putting out anything about our conversation. She was hopeful
that the attention that this incident got at least has
some good come out of it, which is common sense
reform in protecting our cities. The fact that there's a
major national event, a Red's Game, other things going on Cincinnati, tens,
maybe even one hundred thousand plus people with minimal to
(05:04):
know police presence is unforgivable. It's unconscionable, and I want
to be for to say this. We have great police
officers serving in the Cincinnati Police Department, serving in police
departments and cities across the state, and they have my
full backing. But what they deserve is better leadership, leadership
that deploys our resources in ways that actually make sense.
What are you thinking about on a Friday night in Cincinnati,
(05:26):
that area of town. Okay, and I grew up in Cincinnati,
you know Cincinnati. Well, give a major national event. What
are we thinking without any police presence?
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Right there?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
This woman is knocked out. There isn't even an ambulance
that she's able to get, waiting there for a long time,
eventually having to find her own way out. That doesn't
make any sense to me. Common sense And so this
isn't about Democrat versus Republican stuff. This is about common sense,
at least that it should be. And the fact that
this is not a bipartisan issue, I think is a
(05:57):
scathing indictment, particularly of the modern left. And one thing
I will say is I say this in a positive way,
in a constructive way. I invite my Democratic colleagues, opponents whoever,
across the state, to join me in calling for an
increased law and order presence in our cities protect our citizens,
and the sad part is the only peep that we've
(06:18):
heard from Democrats in our state. I kid you not,
Billy is criticizing me for even having the gall to
call the victim who was affected, who appreciated the call.
And I just think that that shows everything that's wrong
with the modern left's culture is the real crime in
their eye, wasn't the assault, It was noticing it. And
I think that's the real problem.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
You said in your posting that Vega Ramaswami left us
like to lecture about systemic in justice while thugs turn
our cities into war zones. I would note, and I
sent you posting from the city of Cincinnati. We've had
an incredibly number of high crimes committed in the Central
Business District that the numbers are in the range of
(07:00):
of twenty eight thousand crimes. We have twenty thousand guns
shot gun shots happening in the city through shot spotter
every year, the bullets are flying every which way. We
have about four hundred people are going to be wounded
this year in the city. We have over two thousand
cars that are going to be stolen. Every time I
look up, it gets worse and we've had a fifty
(07:20):
from those numbers, we've had a fifty percent increase in
crimes committed in the Central Business District this year, which
is the crown jewel of Practer and Gamble, Fifth Third Bank,
Joseph Auto, Mode of Western and Southern. We have these
wonderful nationwide companies in downtown Cincinnati, and the employees are
saying to their managers, we can't take this anymore. We
(07:42):
can't live like this when you have panhanmers and drug
build what do you say.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
I'm not going to sit here and just throw my
hands up in the air and complain about it. I'm
going to do something about it. That's what man for government,
and I do think that we set the tone from
the top. And my view is it is not controversial,
it is not publican, it is now democrat. It is
common sense to increase police presence in our cities. I'm
(08:06):
talking about downtown Cincinnati, I'm talking about the inner city
of Cleveland. I'm talking about the inner city of Toledo
and Dayton, and yes, even Columbus now look at areas
like the Short North in Columbus. In the every week
you wake up to some type of news about some
type of crime that's not acceptable, and I do think
that it takes a leader with the spine at the
top to actually say it. So my job as the
(08:27):
next governor of the state to set the tone for
our state that includes, we want to cities in our state.
No more apologizing, no more differing around. This is common sense,
and we're going to stand for it with apology. We're
bringing law and order back to Ohio in a way
that most people in the state want and every citizen
of this state deserves. And I won't be apologizing for that.
(08:50):
We're just going to get it done.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Lastly, for veg Ramaswami, Now I give you an idea. Sure,
in the nineteen nineties, New Gingreach and Bill Clinton, there
was a terrible crime problem all over and fueled by
cracking other reasons. And Bill Clinton worked with New Gingriage
and they said, we're going to hire one hundred thousand
new cops and disperse them around this country to be
(09:14):
paid for by the federal government for five years, and
after that period of time, the locals got to pick
it up. Would you consider this possibility of having maybe
twenty five thousand more cops or ten thousand more cops
funded by the state of Ohio in the major crime areas,
which are Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Akron, in Toledo, the five
large cities, and say, okay, when I become the governor,
(09:36):
I'm gonna where the State of Ohio is going to
fund for five years, pick a number, ten thousand more
police officers were and they're we're going to pay for
them for five years to knock down the crime. I
don't know about Columbus, Acro in Toledo, Cleveland, you might
have a better idea about that. But in Cincinnati were
in a crime meltdown. Would that be an idea for
the state to say, we're going to fund pick the
(09:57):
number ten thousand more cops and dispersed time to high
crime areas. We're going to pay for him for five years.
Is that a good idea?
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Look on the face of it, I think it is
an interesting and pretty good idea to me. I want
to think about the specific's ability. I mean, one of
the things we also want to ensure for our police
officers is that they have the proper training needed to
do their jobs. Well, that's something that's often missing, particularly
in our state. And I'm going to stand for that training.
But the numbers also matter, and so I think it's
a great idea, but it's the kind of solution we
(10:26):
ought to be talking about, not just wringing our hands
in dear sweeping under the rug, moving on and hoping
nobody notices. That's been, frankly too often the solution from
both major political parties at times. And to me, this
isn't the part is an issue. We're not sweeping this
under the rug. Not only are we exposing it. We're
going to solve the problem through action. And you know what,
(10:47):
you have my word. I'm going to consider that idea
talking to my policy team later today. I'm going to
bring it up with them and let's take a look
at it.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Billy, all right, vivek Ramaswami, thank you very much for
traveling around the state meeting with others. I take at
the campaign you're going, well, is that correct? You look
order replacing Mike DeWine in about a year and three months.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I look forward to beating the Democrats, hopefully by a
margin of many, many double digits, and we're going to
hopefully make this state and lead Ohio to greatness, not
Texas or Florida. We're not living there shaft anymore. We're
leading Ohio to the top.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
God bless God, bless America for ave Gramaswami. Thank you
very much, thank you, thank you. All right, let's continue
with more. And by the way, I'm looking at the
city's own website. In your mind, think of the number
of reported crimes from January first until July first, which
is about a six month period. Raise your hand, what
(11:37):
number do you think of the crimes that were reported
to the city. I'm talking Green. I'm not talking Green Township,
Sycamore Township, Boone County. I'm not talking Anderson Township. I'm
not talking Metamora. I'm talking in the city of Cincinnati.
And a six month period, there were fourteen thousand, three
hundred and eighty three reported crimes in six months. So
that's on its way to thirty thousand reported crimes said,
(12:00):
thirty thousand reported crimes, and it's mainly centered Shaw. We
say in about six or seven zip codes, thirty thousand
reported crimes. And by historical numbers, the number reported crimes
by the time you break it down over a two
year period is one hundred and sixteen thousand reported crimes
in the city of Cincinnati. Are you kidding me? Number
(12:21):
reported offenses and the number of victims include in the
range of sixty thousand victims in the city of Cincinnati.
And the mayor's telling us, hey on a Skype call.
God knows where the mayor is. He's awol. The Mayor's
telling us We're doing well. The programs are working. The
hip hop classes are full, midnight basketball, we have many
(12:41):
leagues swimming, swimming classes are doing great. When you have
these kinds of numbers of reported offenses in the city
of Cincinnati, by historical standards, we are in terrible problems. Now,
how about this one before we go to news number
of reported victims in the first six months of this
year crimes. You know, one victim several crimes committed against
him or her. There's eighteen thousand victims in the first
(13:05):
six months. That means on track for thirty six to
forty thousand victims. Are you kidding me? How's that possible?
And by historical standards? How about this? I think I'm
reading this correctly, Tony Bender. The number of total victims
last year in the city of Cincinnati was one hundred
(13:25):
and nineteen thousand and seventy three. But everything's good. Don't
worry about it. Crime is down. Crime is down, except
the victims are up. The number of crimes are up.
The Ryan Hintons this world are coming up the ladder
to commit more and more crimes. This is a friggin meltdown.
And the scott to stop veg Ramaswami just think about
(13:46):
the idea of the state funding for five years more
cops to get them trained and use Clinton and Gingrich
as a model. Let's continue with more later on we
discover we have Steve Leeper coming up from three c DC.
He's the man in charge of the renaissance of OTR
and CBD Central Business District. Let's see what he says.
(14:06):
Bill Cunningham with you every day a news radio seven
hundred ww Hi Billy cunning him the great American. It
looks very likely viveke Ramaswami is going to be the
next governor, and I have a call into our current governor,
Mike Dewant to see what's going on with him. We
have about fifteen more months of his term and the
viveg Ramaswami will then take over. There's rumors that's shared Brown,
(14:30):
the former US senator for what about eighteen or twenty
four years, will run against a Ake Ramaswami. And Shared
Brown is quite old. I think he's in his mid seventies.
By the time you're in your mid seventies, you should
quit work and give it on to someone else except
for me, of course, But that's Shared Brown. And of
course Tim Ryan may run against John Houstad for the
(14:52):
Senate seat and we'll see what happens there. But one
idea that does work. You know, police, I know midnight
basket games and hip hop classes are very valuable, but
in reality, it takes police officers making an arrest. It
takes a prosecutor to prosecute, it takes a judge to
(15:13):
incarcerate the guilty, and then by doing that, you send
a message to the so called criminal element that this
will not be put up put up with anymore. And
let's face it, in Cincinnati, don't you have a sense
that there's lawlessness? Ever, I can't tell you how many
emails and texts I've received, some from prominent public officials
(15:34):
in our community saying it's never been this bad. Well,
it was this bad about twenty five years ago, when
the riots took place in April of one. It was
that bad in Cincinnati. OTR was the most crime written
zip code in America. It made Harlem in South Central
look peaceful. That was OTR. And there was a sense
(15:57):
by Charlie Luken and Steve who's coming on with us
in about thirty minutes, that things had to change. And
when I walked up and down Vine Street with Charlie
Luken in one and o two when he was the mayor,
him and his chief of staff, of course Brendan Call
controlled things for the nine Grip. I'd have no problem
with that Democrat controlling things again in the city of Cincinnati.
(16:18):
He had a vision. He got to the leadership of
the CBC, those who run this town, twenty five CEOs,
and he had a vision of changing the bombed out
area of OTR that looked something like bea Root and said,
you won't believe what this place is going to look
like in five or ten years. I said, you're right, Charlie,
I won't believe it. There were panhandlers and prostitutes, open
(16:40):
air drug use, garbage and filth, and rats and mice
and cockroaches running all over it. And so because of
Steve Leeper, who has spent hundreds of millions of dollars
funded by foundations and the big companies in this town.
They completely changed OTR in the Central Business District to
see into a livable space. In fact, about a month ago,
(17:04):
maybe three weeks ago, there was a gentleman and his
wife who spent one point four million dollars buying a
brownstone right by Washington Park, where my family has deep roots,
for one point four million, about a block and a
half from TQL. He loved, he loves what the soccer,
he loves walking there, loves walking to Washington Park. He
(17:26):
spent one point four million dollars on a stand not
a stand alone, but a brownstone with walls on either
side to live there. And that's how valuable. And then
the CBD. It's not unusual to have a four to
five thousand dollars monthly rent to live in downtown Cincinnati.
(17:47):
That doesn't count, of course, the hoas and that kind
of stuff, but four or five thousand, and there are
many who look what happened to Shmeel Park and said,
you can't you can't believe it. From Shmell Park through OTR,
through the redone pay Course Stadium. I guess in the
next day or two, isn't the deadlines in the deadline
(18:08):
August first, that's coming up on Friday. Take the Great
American Ballpark and the Reds should have beat the Dodgers
last night, should beat him tonight. Throw On top of that,
all the activities happening downtown almost every weekend of the summer.
All kind of stuff's going on.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
It's unbelievable what's happened to Cincinnati, largely because of Steve Leaper.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
It's not because of the politicians. They roll over and
play debt or take bribes. That's a different issue. But
the business leader said, we can't have this. And over
twenty years it looks as if possibly all the work
of the CBC three, c DC, Steve Leaper and those
CEO of Procter and God and Fifth Third Bank and
(18:52):
the Jeff Ruby Steakhouse and Joseph Automotive and also Western
and Southern maybe for not do't get control of this?
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Now?
Speaker 1 (19:02):
You and I know this. I live, shall I say
in the suburbs. My producer lives a little north of me.
Tony Benner lives in Boone County. The segment lives in Middletown.
Brian Combs lives in northern Kentucky. We kind of disperse around.
There's a sense, and I'll share this with you as
I've done with certain city leaders, that the city now
(19:24):
is not safe. There's a sense of danger. There's a
sense of lack of law and order. There's this sense
that cops don't arrest, prosecutors don't prosecute, and judges don't incarcerate.
And that sends out the message, guess what we didn't
do what we want to do. There's no cops around.
Where were the police? They're overwhelmed and undermanned. Can I
(19:46):
use the ord mand they're under manned? They need two
to three hundred more cops. And that was my suggestion
to the Vake Ramaswami, which is the idea of Bill Clinton,
a new Gingrich They funded one hundred thousand new cops
in the nineteen nineties to be dispersed all over the
country for five years, and after that it's up to
each city to pick it up. In Cincinnati, if we're
(20:07):
short two or three hundred cops, you take the three
seas Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Throwing, Toledo, and Akron those are
the five large cities. I would anticipate that two thousand
cops would cover those five cities on top of the
President allotment quite nicely. Cincinnati might get two or three hundred.
You know, we're the smaller of the three large cities now,
(20:29):
so two or three hundred more cops who are young
and aggressive, want to be proactive, want to take a
handful of warrants and go out and find people like
Mordecai Black before they kill someone like Patrick Herringer, which
doesn't happen now that want to pull people over for speeding,
what a novel suggestion. How about enforcing the law not
with speed bumps, which is costing on Harrison Avenue seven
(20:53):
million dollars, but how about something like more police and
a court system that's operational that actually has high bonds.
We have a judge, Carrie Bloom and juvenile court, and
let's face it, the great majority of her of her
defendants are black males between the age of fifteen and thirty.
That's another issue. But she's a left wing liberal with
(21:16):
a nose ring and tattoos on her who thinks somehow
that everyone deserves at least one, two or three chances.
If some sixteen year old rapes a fifteen year old,
have to write a book report, shoot somebody in the
back of the head and they live, get them out
on bond. Don't bind anybody over who's seventeen for murder
to adult court. She has this left wing radical Marxist
(21:38):
attitude that everyone deserves one or two or three chances.
Guess what, Sometimes you don't deserve one or two or
three more chances. If you kill somebody, rape a girl,
or rape a boy, guess what, you ought to go
to jail. There's no consequence. I got a text from
her friend of mine in Hyde Park who says the following,
among other things, what happened last not in Hyde Park,
(22:01):
As you know, I'm working with Hyde Park quite closely,
and it says this, numerous cars are broken into in
hyde Park. Again. I'm not sure who Zumstein is. I
guess it's a business was hit hard. The victims were
told to phone in the reports. No officers available. So
for those individuals like the Ryan Hinton of this word
(22:21):
of sadly's dead because of his own behavior. And there's
hundreds of these kids running around stealing cars all over
the tri State breaking into the cars. Breaking into winners
all the time, especially in Madisonville at Matamore happens every weekend.
Two thousand we know about and so far this year,
by the time we get done, it'll be three or
four thousand cars broken into. But if there's no police report,
(22:46):
there's no chronicling of the fact the car breaking took place.
And here the victims were told to phone in and
report and call your insurance company if you have one.
So the tip of the iceberg is the thousands of
car breaking, the thousands of thefts of cars and all
that entails, the tens of thousands of victims, the four
(23:06):
hundred people wound that, the twenty thousand shots fired, seventy
and eighty will be killed, the massive drug sales going on,
and it's happening as I speak. And the police are
outmanned and outgunned, and they don't want to get involved.
Now listen up, because of what's happened in the past
five years, about a third to a half of the
police officers in Cincinnati do not want to do their
(23:30):
job because you get into a comfort zone and you
drive by difficulties without jumping out. Every officer is not
the best in the brightest. Believe me, they're human beings.
They actually behave in a certain way when they go
into work, they want to come home at night. I'm okay,
You're okay, no problems. Don't they get involved. I'm not
(23:52):
going hands on with anybody. Go hands on now, you've
got real problems. And an officer told me that the
administration did not want a bunch of white cops patrolling
a so called black event. Well, okay, I get that.
I understand politically. You can only imagine if a bunch
of rednecks, say in Blue Ash, organize themselves around a
(24:15):
black couple and beat the crap out of them, kicking
him in the head and punching out the black female.
We'd have almost the National Guard have to be in
Blue Ash. Because of the outcry by the Irish roly crowd,
who's always got her hand out. We ought to treat
these crimes as criminals, not based upon race, but based
(24:36):
upon behavior. The behavior here was despicable. And when I
do these interviews around the country, I always say Cincinnatis
has been a great place to be. It wasn't so
good until about twenty years ago. And Steve Lieper in three,
CDC said we're going to turn OTR around. I said,
you got to be kidding. Guess what they did it.
Now all that work is going right down the tubes.
(24:58):
I can't tell you how many people who live in
Butler County and Kenton County told me I'm done. I'm
not going to downtown Cincinnati. I'll go to a Reds
game and get out. I'll go to a Bengals game
and get out. I may walk walk small park during
daytime and then get out, but now I'm not hanging around.
That's why three businesses shut down four days ago and
(25:19):
on Fountain Square and Fifth Third Banks looking for another tenant.
Good luck, very good luck with that. It begins with
the leadership from the top and prioritizing public safety, with
which af tab Py ofvol and his band of renegades
in the city Council do not. They've been there for
four years after the last crop went to federal prison.
For God's sakes.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Then the same voters who put the criminals to represent
them on city council are the same voters who voted
for the clouds now on council to do more of
the same.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
You know the definition of insanity. And right now af
tab Pi ofvl is on a milk carton can't find
him with a search warrant. He's skyping in here and there.
This city's in turmoil and crisis and we're absent of leadership.
No one can seriously maintain that share along. The city
manager has any clue what she's doing. She's clueless. And
(26:10):
I have empathy for a chief of police. Thiegi comes
from a long family of police officers, but she'll be
gone within a year of retired. On drop and away
we go. Get another police chief in here. We've had
numerous fire chiefs. None of the rank and file, the fireman, firefighters,
and the cops respect leadership in this city at all, zero, zilch, nada.
(26:33):
Now more than ever, I don't want to hear ftech
pirival to talk about Donald Trump, Donald Trump, Donald Trump.
Iris Rowley went on the show with my good friend
Lincoln b. Ware and blamed Trump. He said, she said
that was a Trump crowd, and this is a city
employee talking about Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump derangement syndrome.
For years, it was Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia. Now it's Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein.
(26:57):
Now it's Trump Trump, Trump, Trump, convenient foibles for the
failures of their policies. I think the mayor is out
of mayor's conference somewhere somewhere with other big city democratic mayors.
Can you imagine that scene from Star bar scene from
Star Wars with that has to look like? What do
those cities look like? What does Memphis? What does Louisville
look like? Good friend of mine, the first names Kenny
(27:20):
lives in Louisville. And after they brown a Taylor situation,
that city went right down into the crapper. By the way,
those cops responded fire because one of their fellow officers
was shot first. But I don't want to talk about
the facts, and so they keep blaming others for their
own mistakes and the failure of their policies. Like the
teachers' union got together in Vegas about two weeks ago,
(27:42):
and what condition are the urban school districts in Do
you think they talked about Trump the whole time? Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump,
Trump Trump nice diversion, And sadly voters have bought it.
And as savek Ramaswami said, and I said it a
few days ago, this cannot be black versus white publican
versus Democrat versus Charter Right. Steve Gooden would be fabulous
(28:04):
on council. I think Lakeida Cole would be an improvement.
And of course we need a new mayor, and I
think Bowman would be fabulous. It would be great. But nonetheless,
the voters of Cincinnati have got to look at themselves
and say, we can't take this anymore. We got to
know who the judges are, who's letting criminals out into
our community. We want to know who's running for mayor,
(28:26):
what's the option, who's running for council. And one posting
on Facebook is going to stick with me for a
long time. A black guy did a little bit of
a rant on Facebook and he said, you white people,
this has been happening to us in our community for years,
which is the knockout game, which is gang's patrolling, parading
(28:48):
of villain I criminalizing the black community itself, and you
don't care about us until a white person gets hit.
Now that's got to double that sword. So he's saying
what we saw on video at Fourth and Elm happens
all the time in the black community with black defendants
and black perpetrators. But they keep electing the politicians and
(29:08):
the judges that cause the difficulties in the first place
to occur. How's that possible? How about a light going
on is saying what we can't live like this, We
can't have school is completely dysfunctional in which no family
formation takes place. We're tired of the drug use. We're
tired of the open air marijuana use. We're tired of
drunk drivers and reckless operators all over our town. We
(29:29):
can't take it anymore. We want to change. And if
you can't vote Republican because Democrats see that, are they
think of Trump Trump Trump Trump, vote for a charter right.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Or don't vote for the party that's caused these problems
to occur for the last half a century.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Does that make sense to you? Quite a hitting yourself
in the head with a hammer, blaming yourself for the
injury you're causing it yourself by voting for these clowns
in office. Trump Trump, Trump Trump.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
If you, if you, if you believe that, you gotta
have a hole in your head. Change, change the leadership,
change those in charge of the policies that have failed,
and don't listen to Trump Trump trump trump.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Talk, which has nothing to do with the city of Cincinnati. Nothing, zero, zilch, nada.
The city's teetering, it's closed to going completely back to
twenty oh one in which OTR was the South Central
the Harlem of the nation, the worst, most frequent crime.
(30:30):
And look at the statistics of Cincinnati, which I shared
with A. Ak Ramaswami. This is ridiculous. We don't have
to live like this. And these black commentators say, when
now you care because a white person got hurt. If
this is happening in your community all the time, not
happening in mine, by the way, if it's happening in
your community all the time, why don't you change the
(30:50):
leaders whose policies cause this to occur? Does that make
raise your hand if I'm making sense, let me count
them all right?
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Good.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I want the black community who vote ninety five percent
for Democrats to say, to Democrats, you've promised this, and
you gave us that, not just one broken promise for
half a century. It will not change until you cause
the change. Now let's continue. We've schedule next Steve Lieber,
who's the grand architect of the revitalization of the Central
(31:24):
Business District and OTR and his feelings tonight. There's a
big powwell tonight, you know, at the public Library downtown
where my great sister Mary Diane Redden is one of
the trustees of the library system. So we're going to
see if things change, because things won't change until you,
who vote for these clowns cause it to change. Twelve
(31:46):
fifty six Homeo Reds and Hew's Radio seven hundred WW
by Billy cunning in the Great American A big power
all tonight at the Downtown Library with all the power
brokers will be there in law enforcement, and one of
the people president will be Steve Leaper. He's the president
(32:08):
CEO of A three C d C, which is the
organization mainly responsible for what's positively happening in OTR and
the CBD. Some of the board members of working with
Steve Leaper, Guys you might know, John Barrett, Neil Boortz,
Bob Castellini, Brendan call Shelley Gillis, Ryan Hayes, Ryan Jenikowski,
(32:33):
Williams Brothers, et cetera, and once again Steve Leaper. Welcome
to the Bill Cunningham Show. Steve, first of all, can
you tell the American people just the overall what is
three C d C. Why was it formed and what
is its mission?
Speaker 5 (32:48):
Well, thanks for having me, Bill, We were formed. It
was you know, well before I was here. It was
you know, an effort by then. They're Charlie Lucan and
then the CEO and chairman of Procter and Gamble A. G.
Laughley at the time fell the need as a result
(33:10):
of civil unrest that occurred in two thousand and one
that we needed to reinvest back in our community and
to the urban core. So they on their own build
us sent the trust between the two and a partnership,
and that relationship between you know, the public sector and
the private sector has remained strong for over twenty years
(33:32):
where we is together invested in the rebuild of the
blighted community of over the Rhine and reinvestment in downtown.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
And you know, most people at the time I was here, Steve.
In fact, I've been here maybe too long, but I
recall walking walking with Charlie and I met Charlie when
he was a boy and his father, Tom was running
for the law director's job in the City of deer
Park when we were kids. Known him for a very
long time time and we walked up and down Vine
Street that looked like bea root and buildings were being
(34:05):
sold for a dollar. Right now, a friend of mine
who's a real estate agent, sold a brownstone and OTR
for one point four million dollars, which, by the way,
inside is beautiful. So the mission was accomplished largely, but
it's ongoing. What do you see as a problem tonight
that needs to be addressed.
Speaker 5 (34:26):
I think the first thing that you said that's true
is that our efforts need to be ongoing. And this
one you think that you accomplished something. It is a
need to constantly manage the assets that you have created
in the community that you've created. And like anything else,
our cities or products, and it's and people can either
(34:49):
buy the product or not buy the product, or buy
a resident visiting a resident buying a home that's buying
a product, or somebody coming down to a restaurant buying
that product or going to a bit ballgame. And what
we have to make sure that the product that we're selling,
which is a vibrant and safe and clean and exciting community,
(35:11):
is at its high as value. And sometimes you know,
cities go through this, and certainly we went through it
in the early two thousands where we needed to reset
ourselves and focus on some challenges that we're having. And
right now we have some challenges, but I am absolutely
(35:34):
convinced that all the parties involved are ready to jump
in and take the steps necessary to write this ship
and get some of these problems behind us.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
I was told that you were the instigator to have
the Cincini police beyond the scene between four pm and
midnight on two streets, which was Main Street and Vine Street.
I had some business owners on Elm Street telling me, well,
why are we protected? Were you? Were you the instigator
that said we need more police protection in OTR.
Speaker 5 (36:10):
I would not say that I was the instigator. I
would say that we I worked closely with the manager
and the mayor and the police chief. But I spoke
to the manager and the mayor and articulated what we
thought were some needs in both OTR and in fact downtown,
(36:32):
because we believe there's some focus areas that we need
to target in downtown as well. I will tell you
that the mayor and manager could not have been more
supportive of the efforts, willing to put the resources behind it,
challenging all of us to take steps and what can
we do, meaning us in the corporate community, What can
(36:56):
our ambassadors do continue to do? How can we put
we sources towards the effort. So I feel like our
voices are being heard, and I believe that they are
doing their best to make sure that the residents, visitors,
businesses are feeling that they are aware of the situation
(37:19):
and are taking steps to mitigate what I think are
some challenges we have right now.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Do we need more police?
Speaker 5 (37:28):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (37:28):
How many?
Speaker 5 (37:29):
And I think I don't know that. I mean, she's
as much, uh, you know, she's the one that knows
her numbers and the pressures on her staff, and she's
doing her best to juggle all these things. And you know,
she's you know, in the limelight right now. And what
we can't do and what I we've historically done, and
(37:50):
we all, we all tend to do this and I'm
probably guilty of it myself, which is when we start
to have some very very visible challenges losing to folks
most recently and over the Rhine, innocent people being killed
and over the Rhine, the event that we saw Saturday night,
that we we all start panicking or to try and
(38:14):
play the blame game or you know, escalating the the
issue to a point that we're not having rational conversations
about it. But I believe that, you know, our police
need to be supported. I think we have done a
better job of that over the last couple of years.
There was a point in time where they were not
(38:36):
being supported, where you know, they were not being respected.
I think that has changed for the positive. I do
think we need to allow them to do their job,
both in terms of UH taking on that the the
violent crime and and other matters that we had witnessed
(38:58):
over the last a couple of weeks, but also, uh
we need to support them in their way in their
manner of addressing quality of life issues, which is issues
where you know trespassing is occurring, you know, aggressive panhandling.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
US.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Yes, absolutely, you know, beer and drug use and and
we we just that kind of behavior oftentimes does two things.
One is it hinders the ability of businesses to do business,
especially when there's this sort of encroachment onto under private
business or private residences properties. But there's also the challenges
(39:42):
that sometimes those sort of nuisance behavior then escalates. When
we saw a little bit of escalations Saturday night, So
things that UH cause greater problems to the community and
challenges for public.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
Safety shave labor. Trust me on this one. I don't
want to use their names. There were three judges, I'm sorry,
two judges, an elected official who went to an opera
maybe it was a ballet at the music Hall, which
is fabulous, and they felt terribly unsafe walking there because
of marijuana use, kids running around, jumping in and out
of the fountain. They left the opera or maybe it
(40:19):
was the ballet early and walked back to the underground parking.
Felt terribly unsafe in that environment because there was no
police to be seen anywhere. There was no office or
anywhere on Washington Park, where as you know, my family
has deep roots in Washington Park. And nonetheless, these three
may I use the term older females said that's it,
(40:39):
We're not coming anymore because of the screaming, the hollering,
the F word, the open air use of marijuana, no
police presence, and they said, we're done. And I've had
many tell me from the surrounding communities, of which I'm
sure you've heard the same thing, that Cincinnati's unsafe, that
there's cars being stolen, breaks. I look on the I
(41:01):
think I'm reading this correctly. I'm on the city's own website.
Number of reported victims one hundred and twenty thousand reported
victims of crime, one hundred and twenty thousand reported victims
of crime, and I'm reading the city website. It's at
insight Cincinnati dot gov. These numbers and also twenty thousand
(41:22):
gunshots fired every year in the city of Cincinnati. Fortunately
only about fourteen hit, four hundred hit somebody. We have wounded,
we have dead. We have one hundred and eighteen thousand
victims of crime. We have two to three thousand car
stolen every year in the city of Cincinnati. We have
many more thousands of car break ins, and there's a
sense that nothing's happening because the police are under manned, overwhelmed,
(41:45):
and don't want to do their job. Now, what would
you say to these three older female judges who's saying
we're done, we're not doing this anymore.
Speaker 5 (41:54):
Well, I would ask them to reconsider. I don't know
what night they went there, but there's also you know,
probably go there at least two nights a week after
my workout at the y MCA, go observe what's going
on there, Maybe have a Sassparilla at the at the
Washington Park Bar and observe what goes on there because
it's it is a good way to observe things I find.
(42:18):
I'm going to get back to their concerns because I
don't want to dismiss them whatsoever. But generally that park
is well managed with people are some all different walks
of life and joining. There are kids in that, but
they're generally little kids in that, in that in that
water feature, in the playground, we should not have teenagers
in that playground. We have playworkers that are supposed to
(42:41):
manage that and make sure that adults aren't in.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
There without kids.
Speaker 5 (42:44):
And so there's a whole process there, and we staff
it every night. We probably have fix employees in that
park in any given night, and that's everything from doing
cleaning safe our ambassadors, but also even people who ever
seeing whether it's jazz night or whatever goes on there.
Saying that I spoke to you a little earlier about
(43:06):
this quality of life issues, and from time to time
there are quality of life's issues in that park. There
are there is open air marijuana being smoked, there's uh,
you know, kids driving bikes through there recklessly. There are
(43:28):
you know, can be aggressive, panhandling, all those things that
make people uncomfortable. Now, whether or not it's totally unsafe
or anything like that remains to be seen. But if
you're if you're feeling uncomfortable.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
That is a fact, it's a reality.
Speaker 5 (43:46):
You can sit there and say you have no reason
to feel that way. Well, you're not being You're not
hearing what they're saying. And what they're saying is we're
there's a reason why we're feeling uncomfortable, and this is it,
and we need to make sure that we address them.
And I think what needs to be saying to these
judges is listen, I'm sorry we had a bad experience.
Let's make sure that you know the next time you
(44:08):
come here, these are the things we're going to do
to address your concerns.
Speaker 1 (44:12):
I have a business owner who lives by Saint Francis Serif.
I went by it the other day. As you know,
I go to ot R and I I go through
Washington Park and during the day, Uh, don't go at night.
Speaker 5 (44:27):
Oh, I've seen you in there at night. Don't give
you that.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
But now, I mean after nine o'clock it's not dark.
I'm there. You know, I get out, Uh anyway, the
business owner tells me, look at Saint Francis Seraph. They've
shut the doors on the on the doorsteps and off
to the alley on the left of Saint Francis homelessness,
open air prostitution, drug use, needles, and and cops drive
(44:53):
by in their cars and then and they look. I
don't know if they look, and they simply keep on going.
What can you do to address the well?
Speaker 5 (45:02):
And I know exactly what you're talking about. It's on
Liberty Avenue primarily both on the north and south side
of the streets. Sometimes it's depending on where the shade is.
It could be on the south side of the street.
It's in the thirteen hundred block of Maine. So we
know exactly where these hotspots are. And I will tell
you that the mayor, the manager, the police chief.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Are well aware of this.
Speaker 5 (45:30):
They are now and it's Chief Sigi not only is
putting out these police details on Maine and on Vine
from that eight hour period which I'm talking about police
details that are walking details, but they also are targeted
that area along the northern part of Race, the fifteen
(45:53):
hundred block of Race to Liberty and then heading east
on Liberty into that area there and that the police
are there and committed to addressing these quality of life issues.
And in doing so, we need to do two things.
It's not only ensuring that the police enforce what is
for law, you know, protecting private property, public consumption of
(46:16):
alcohol and marijuana, the whole nine yards. But also there
are folks there, as you well know, Bill, and this
is true downtown that have some challenges in their lives,
whether it's homelessness, mental health, drug addiction, combination of all
these things, and we to them and to everybody to
(46:38):
do our best to try to address those. And so
you know we're working with Greater Behavioral three CDC and
than the downtown and the business owners that participate in
the Downtown Improvement District and other foundations in the county
and the city have funded this where we have outreach
workers that are trying our best to address and to
(46:58):
engage with these individual to get them into services.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
You know, there's this one scene in Ben Hur I
love that movie in which Charlton Heston opens up to
drape and he's building this great obelesque for Ramsey's the
first and Steve Laper is Charlton Heston building, the Great
Obelskus to the Castellinis and others, and I would say
good luck. Lastly, what do you what do you want
(47:21):
to have happened tonight at six o'clock at the main library.
What do you want to see tonight?
Speaker 5 (47:27):
Well, I think what I want to see tonight is
I want to be able. I want the people to
fill who are participating the feel that they're being heard,
and that we can't as people who are working and
trying to address the problem, we can't get defenses. We
got to hear what that now. We expect people to have,
you know, common dignity and courtesy in their in their
(47:49):
way of talking to people, but we should understand people
gonna be frustrated and we need and we can sit
there and tell them it's safe city, and we do
believe it's to say cy but what they're feeling right
now is real, and what they've see is real, and
what they've experienced is real, and we need to hear
what they have to say. And we need to come
up with some very concrete solutions, such as the walking
(48:15):
details that we see in over the Line, and we
need a similar presence downtown. We need to continue to
address these issues in our parking facilities. We have a
number of them, nine parking facilities where we're protecting people
who are in there with both personnel and very sophisticated
(48:35):
artificial intelligence and camera systems. But we need to keep
pushing on and pushing on and pushing on and not
have this be a one time dialogue and then we
all go away and life goes on.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
We've got to be a process.
Speaker 1 (48:51):
Well, Steve Labor, last night, I just sawned a vague Ramaswami,
and I gave him the idea, which is an original
of the state of Ohio funding something the range a
couple thousand cops for five years to the five major
cities and giving the Cincinnati four to five hundred cops.
In fact, I'm watching Fox News right now live Cincinnati
attack ongoing. It's on a loop. This is you can't
(49:13):
buy this kind of negative publicity anywhere. This guy's getting
kicked in the head and he likes that idea of
having the state for five years funding this for cities
and stress and that would be the I mean, Clinton
and Gingridge did it in the mid nineteen nineties, one
hundred thousand New cops, and we need cops, we need prosecution,
(49:33):
we need judges, and we need jail for those who
are wrongdoers. Well, Steve Laper, I know you're well intent,
and I'm gonna call you Charlton Heston. You're like Ben
Hurr and you have the great Obelesques and you're open
up to drape and the thing stood upright. But good
luck tonight. But as with both of us have agreed,
this is a process. It doesn't end tonight, it begins.
But you have to fight, fight, fight like Donald Trump
(49:54):
did when he was shot on the side of the head.
Fight fight, fight, But you know what, but you.
Speaker 5 (49:58):
Know what want I'll leave on this first of all,
the glasses half full. I mean, I've been in Baltimore,
I've been in my old hometown of Pittsburgh, and in Cleveland.
In St. Louis a challenge. Not that we should set
the bar at anything at any level like that. On
the other hand, we I just want anyone to understand
(50:20):
that people are not sleeping on this and people are
pushing it. And I can tell you personally that I
have had hours and hours and hours and hours of
meetings with the mayor, the manager, the police chief, everybody,
police leadership and people care. And I just we need
(50:43):
to make sure people understand that.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
All right, Moses, thank you very much, Steve Leaper, the
Moses Building, the Great Opelesques and Steve Leeper, thanks for
coming on the Bill Cunningham Show.
Speaker 5 (50:53):
And good luck tonight, good luck, thank you, thank you
Bill for having me.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
Good bless America. Stand up guy, Let's continue with more.
Bill Cunningham, News Radio seven hundred w l W. I
what do you see something? You see a little I
need a voice of my generation. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 6 (51:08):
Nothing wrong with being the voice to your generation. We
gotta get you on beat though. You know, the rhymes
were dope. The rhymes was great, but uh gotta get
you on that beat. What's the beat?
Speaker 5 (51:20):
What do you mean?
Speaker 1 (51:20):
We gotta get you on that. We got to make
it wear flow beat. Yeah yeah, but the.
Speaker 6 (51:26):
Rhymes not bad, not bad. I was surprised, you know,
I thought they were you know, I didn't know what
they expect.
Speaker 1 (51:34):
But now, what what do you do? I have a
future and rap gotta get you on that beat.
Speaker 7 (51:38):
Man.
Speaker 1 (51:38):
A few months with me, you'll be, you'll you'll be,
you know I I was going to tour the South.
I spent time at the backstage of the Apollo. Okay,
but my show was in the Harlem for one season
across and I spent time there, and that's where I
hooked up with some of jay Z's guys and they
worked with me some lines to become the voice of
my generation. And then they want to put me on
the road. Had to go into the South.
Speaker 5 (51:59):
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (52:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (52:01):
Man, that's pretty incredible. They need to work with you
on that beat. Beat Yeah, yeah, we gotta rock that beat.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
Hello, quiet, I'm broadcasting.
Speaker 1 (52:21):
Say get ready. This was sent to me today by
ice Cube and he once I got my lyrics, I've
written some lyrics. Are you ready? It is Lebaraji. Oh,
go ahead, hit it. Gotta doing the downtick you ready?
They keep to me check the vesting. I'm fully mature.
Golf clubs are cleaned, gave. My dividends are pure swing
like I'm young, but my back's unsure. Catch me on
(52:44):
the green looking sixty four. The office is done. I
cast in my plan.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Now I spend mornings in a four four four saying
zip that meta Mucil invest in the land index funds
are popping like a brass band dollar cost averaging. Since
Reagan was king, I was buying low when you all
chase bling s and p rising like Mike cholesterol. I
don't need crypto. I got capitol. Yeah, my portfolio is
(53:10):
fat like a lawyer's lunch. Reads in the mix, bonds
for the crunch. Four oh one K rolls over when
I munch Bieger in the glove box, silis in the drawer.
Still got game, Just need more to score. Yeah, docs
say it's coming, and I ain't sore. At least my
ira got plenty in store.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
Yeah I wrote those. Now I have to come up
with three hundred more lines. Now, where do you see
this thing going with the park in the dark. What
do you say?
Speaker 3 (53:39):
I think you're headed for absolute stardom in your senior life.
Speaker 1 (53:44):
How about acr gun I pulls and spas? What about
rapping for Franks? Well, I mean, you know, well, in
other words, you know, everyone supports me except one person. Lance.
He's righting me. He's riding lines. Gary Jeff, Gary. I
just Gary Jeff said he's going to send me lines.
Speaker 3 (54:01):
Scott Sloan he's in Australia. He left uh Ken brew
Ken Brew he's into music.
Speaker 1 (54:09):
Uh, rocky. How about Tom Brenneman, the rock Tom Brenneman's
jealous as you know, what do you see it? I
thought it was all bs And.
Speaker 3 (54:16):
Tom Brenman just wants one of your t shirts when
they come out. He does, Yeah, Well, well you're going
to have your face there and then your tour dates
on the back, and people are going to be pushing
cotton at your concerts.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
I mean you'll be. You'll be all over the place.
You'll be. I mean I mean not just around here,
but you'll be. You'll be.
Speaker 3 (54:37):
You'll be maybe bigger than mister worldwide pit Bull. About
Taylor Swift? Maybe so I got a day for her,
you know. Dave Collins and the Reds. He got a
hold of me about ice Cube and I and an
after game concert next June packed. Isn't the Red crowd
more on my side of the table than ice Cube?
Speaker 1 (55:00):
Be debatable? They send me this little tune, what do
you call it? The beat yep? And I said, Okay,
this thing is getting real. If they're sending the beats
and you got it going, they won't you know what
they want to call me? I'm afraid to ask but
go right ahead, Willie to the sea. Who's the person
(55:21):
that's not for this? The people's judge does not support me.
She thinks I'm making a damn fool of myself. Well,
you know what you're trying. You know what, you're making
an effort for this. Who's not too late? No, it's
not too late. I'm waiting for the CDs to come out.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
I mean, imagine that you're gonna be have You're gonna
have merchandise, merch You're gonna be marturing the nation, touring
if not the world.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
With ice Cube. Yeah, kind of like jas he sees something.
Can you see something here? Do you see it? Segment? Yes,
give me some lines.
Speaker 3 (55:58):
You're gonna you're gonna have a tour, but by yourself,
luxury tour bus. You've gotta go to after parties. What
were the odds of me meeting ice Cube? He was
here for that basketball tournament. Look what happened.
Speaker 1 (56:11):

Before i'm seventy Now i'm too old to be running
around being pursued by a gang of. Thugs and that's
WHAT i think we've got going on In cincinnati And.
Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
Lewenn people that look like you and me are perceived
to be pigeons, easy have some, income might have a,
wristwatch might have a. Purse it's so bad In Los,
angeles for, example that a radio talk shows friend of
mine there says many of us have a throwaway. Car
AND i said to this, guy so what's a throwaway?
Car he, said you don't want to drive into large
(01:14:02):
parts of DOWNTOWN la with a nice car because there'll
be a gun upside your head parked at a, meter
or if you have a red, light there'll be a
gun upside your, head and quickly you have to disgorge your,
valuables your, wallet your, phone. Etc the women have to
give their louis through the. Door and he, said we
have throwaway cars that when we go, out wives and
(01:14:24):
girlfriends don't wear a nice jewelry or bring their purses
or shoes with. THEM a lot of the robbers look
at the shoes and the, rings and we have a
throwaway car that looks. Bad we don't dress up because

the windows smashed, out they stole. Purses they did all this,
stuff and the cops more or less said they couldn't
do anything about, it but they. Did my daughter's credit
card was tried to be used as A. KROGER a
(01:15:28):
guy was buying A, tv so he had not activated the.
Card they had the picture of his. Face talked to
the cops again and, said, well we probably never could
find this guy ever since, THEN i maybe go Down

Everyone my wife AND i have lived down here in
the heart of over The rhine for the last eight.
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
Years we've never had an.

never had an issue and if you're not looking for,
trumple you're not gonna find.
Speaker 1 (01:16:24):
It, well everyone has different, perspective you, know you, Know.
Daniel opinions are like belly. Buttons everybody got, one and
perception becomes. Reality AND i know good friend of, Mine Sean,
donovan lives On Court. Street he's noticed the Chief deputy
Of Hamilton county and he's lived On Court street now

Speaker 1 (01:16:59):
Doing?
Speaker 14 (01:17:00):
So this is a scout From, Cindy AND i Referenced
cindy Because i'm Through cincinnati And. Indy matter of, FACT
i was down there the other week last. WEEKEND i
had a good time and it wasn't a lot of priests,
pleasants but with one, thing you had a lot of
ex police recruits that possibly can be reinstated so you,
know that would be one thing the city could do
is recruit some of the ex police officers or someone
(01:17:21):
that went to the academy and things like. That and
then also there's another matter THAT i was going to
ask you about IF i can get your email address
And i'll send you some information on the mother. Matter
but what's your comments on that hav any x police
recoups involved?
Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
It would you, know THREE cdc hires dozens of neighborhood
kids to work at about twenty dollars an hour and
one of them was killed and one of the apartments
there one of his first days on the, job And
i'm not sure why it was killed. Murdered and you,
Know Tom, striker who was in office for like ten,
years is one of the best Cops i've ever, known
has said that if you do not yourself get involved
(01:17:58):
in criminal, activity whether you're looking for a prostitute or buying, DRUGS,
otr somewhat. Safe but, Frankly, scott that is not the.
Perception the perception is it's. Dangerous AND i don't know
how you overcome perceptions except through years of indications that
it's a safe place to be and it's going to
it took years to get into this. Situation situation going
(01:18:20):
to take years to get. Out let's continue now With
craig And erlanger And. Ellesmere craig And erlanger give me
a full.
Speaker 10 (01:18:25):

(01:18:46):
had no problems there. Either SO i again opinions of
everyone's got a different. One we've been down there recently
and we enjoyed ourselves.
Speaker 1 (01:18:55):
Well in, fact you can't Get Major League, Soccer Major League,
baseball OR nfl football, anywhere but in Downtown cincinnati you
can get restaurants the Other but you, know the reason
we're such an, important vibrant major city is The National Football,
League Major League, baseball AND TQL fcc throw on top of,
(01:19:15):
That xavier AND uc throw on top without all the,
HOSPITALS i Mean Christ hospital under the leadership of a
woman Named hayes who went to high school with my
wife and she controls To Christ's. Hospital it's one of
the best hospital hospitals in the, world and it's right
here In. Cincinnati you take the, hospitals the, universities and
(01:19:36):
the major league sports teams and a vibrant downtown that
should be. Better there's no Better midwestern city to, live
and you know what to live In. Chicago you can
live right. Here chicago's twice the size Of. Cincinnati we
got everything they, got but we got to have public,
safety and there's a perception we don't have. It but
that's been your, experience AND i think let's take one
or two more calls that'll be. It let's go to
(01:19:59):
Zach in on a cell and Then brent In, westchester
and does that give me a full?
Speaker 15 (01:20:03):
Report Hey, Willie i'm thirty six years, old So i'm pretty.
Young no fans compared To. Moshall so we've had seat
and tickets to The bengals now for quite a. While
we went to The Super, bowl blah blah. Blah long story.
Short with the escalators being out last year caused a
(01:20:24):
whole lot of problems with people getting, around and you
could visually tell that a lot of people were upset
and angry and getting a little you, know aggravated with you,
know drinking and. Whatnot So i'm it was a great.
Experience but at the same, Time i'm wondering what this
year is.
Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Going to be, Like, well they're, supposedly how about, It
we're supposed to have a deal. TOMORROW i think By august, first,
right there's going to be a. Deal, Deal and this
Is july twenty, ninth so by tomorrow Or, thursday we
got to have a. Deal SO i want to get
On Denise treehouse at some points talk about one of
the first orders of business is to fix the. Escalator
And i'm told that in today's construction you don't see
(01:21:03):
much of that anywhere else because they have a functioning
escalator when it's minus ten degrees is. Difficult it was
a bad design to have an escalator that's always broken
and you get up and, down what do you? Have
take elevators and take? Steps how do you get up and?
Speaker 15 (01:21:15):
Down, yeah my wife's, father you, know he's in the.
Seventies so we have to take the escalators from the
bottom parking lot off At Third street and then fire
away through the you, know the front gates, there and
then we got taken the escalator Or i'm, sorry an
elevator from that level all the way.
Speaker 5 (01:21:32):
Up to the.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
Top that's not the way it should. Be but other
stadiums have solved that. Issue But, zach stay. Tuned the
next couple of days there should be a. Deal, Deal i'm,
told but, THANKS i WISH i could take more. Calls
WHERE a loaded with. Calls we'll do this another, time
But i'd say about eighty percent of the. Calls think
about Downtown cincinnati as most people AS i think about,
it it can be unsafe to twenty Six Bill Cunningham
(01:21:55):
News radio seven Hundred.
Speaker 16 (01:21:56):
Wow they are supporting THE, Us egyptian And cuttery efforts
to secure a vital. Ceasefire that ceasefire must be, sustainable
and it must lead to a wider peace, plan which
we're developing with our international. Partners this plan will deliver,
(01:22:17):
security a proper governance In, gaza and pave the way
for negotiations on a two state. Solution our goal remains
a safe and Secure israel alongside a viable and Sovereign palestinian,
state but right now that goal is under pressure like never.
(01:22:42):
Before i've always said that we will recognize A palestinian
state as a contribution to a proper peace process at
the moment of maximum impact for the two state. Solution
with that solution now under, threat this is the moment to.
Act so today as part of this process towards, PEACE
(01:23:07):
i can confirm THE uk will recognize The state Of
palestine by The United Nations General assembly In september unless
The israeli government takes substantive steps to end the appalling
situation In, gaza agree to a cease fire and commit
to a long term sustainable, peace reviving the prospect of
(01:23:31):
a two state.
Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
Solution, Hell i'm broadcasting.
Speaker 1 (01:23:44):
Like we've got bigger issues than peace in The Middle.
East there's something that takes priority over. All the number
one Is Jordan. Hudson more information from The times Of. India, okay,
now so give me the source, first The times Of.
India The times Of. India out the, past nothing about the.

Game he's not out of the.
Speaker 17 (01:24:57):
Spotlight he's kind of has, been and so he needed
to get a new gig so he could flaunt her
around at it and make her feel.
Speaker 1 (01:25:05):
Important quoting to it your good Friend Paul, finebaum who's
the conscience of THE sec football. Quote as far As Bill,
belichick the end of his career was a total. Disaster
didn't win a playoff game in the last five, seasons
losing seasons three of the last. Five it was a

Speaker 17 (01:25:43):

wants to groom his, Son steve to be a head.
Speaker 1 (01:25:48):
