Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's the best Bits of the week with number two.
Let's up, y'all, happy weekend and happy Mike's wedding weekend.
He's getting married for me. That's today for y'all. He
might have already been married by the time y'all listening
to this, but I'm so excited for them. So starting
off the show, you congratulations out to Mike and Kelsey.
(00:22):
Wedding day, wedding night, all the things were so excited
for them. Here. But if you guys are just now
listening to this, this is the Best Bits of the
Week show. I'm Morgan, number two, and every week I
take the best seven segments from the show and tell
y'all what happened in case you missed something, in case
you want to relive it, and along the way, I
typically bring a show member on with me. And this
(00:44):
week I bought back one y'all's favorites, which is Hillary's Hello.
You guys loved our podcast together before, so of course
I had to bring her back for another round, and
we got lots to talk about today. So every week,
you guys here, you know Bobby's nailbag, it's a whole
you guys send in questions or advice, basically anything you
guys want us to talk about on the show. And
(01:05):
this week we had a listener Kendall who wrote in,
and she's pregnant and she's debating, you know, when she
has her baby if she's going to post photos of
her baby on social media. And we have a lot
of parents on the show who have so many different
views on this, some who post about their kids, some
who don't post it all, we're all across the board.
And then Bobby also commented on what he probably wants
to do when he has kids at some point too,
(01:26):
So you can hear all of those, but I want
to hear Hillary, like, let's talk about this from an
outsider's perspective. We don't have kids, what do you feel like, Like,
what are your thoughts on this? So me and you
don't have kids, but we both have nieces and nephews. Yes,
my sister just had a baby in November. It's the
first like baby in our family. And she is against
(01:50):
posting him on social media, like I'm not allowed to
post about him. She's not going to post about him.
Nobody in our family is allowed to post about him.
And at first I was like, Okay, like, obviously we're
respecting her wishes and I didn't fully understand why. But
for her it's more of a safety thing. She used
to be a victim's advocate, that's the job she had,
(02:12):
she worked for the State Attorney's office. If she has
just heard so many cases about kids and all that stuff,
So for her, it's more of a safety reason, which
I think is kind of what Eddie and Lunchbox touched onto.
So I know I don't have kids, so I don't
know what I'm going to do with mine, but I'm
leaning more towards not sharing them. Just kind of seeing
what my sister's gone through, and there's no point in
(02:34):
sharing him, like we get to see him, and I
get to share his pictures with my friends, like you've
seen him, I send you videos and pictures. So I'm
kind of leaning more towards the side of respecting their
privacy and keeping them private. But I have no judgment
whatsoever with anybody who wants to share their kids on
social media, Like I'm not going to judge anybody who's
(02:56):
doing that. But for my family, I know the ruld
right now is we want to keep the kids private.
When I think it's hard too when their kids and
they're like, they're really small kids. They're not talking, they
can't communicate how they're feeling, and they don't have any
say in the manner when they start to get older
and they're like, yeah, no big deal. I think they do.
But even still, which Eddie also touched on, like they're
(03:16):
still a kid and you're still supposed to kind of
look out for them. So even if they think they
might know it, you are, as a parent, are supposed
to know like what's best, right, right, I don't know that,
Like I totally get it, and I see Eddie and
Lunchbox's perspective so hard. But I also like, just know
how excited I get to share my life with people, yes,
not even just like just my friends and family's great
(03:38):
and I send them stuff. And I'm sure at some
point you guys are like, stop sending me things, because
I'll send you my stuff that I don't post about.
I'm like, oh, but I want to post it because
I just I'm so excited. And you have so many emotions,
especially when it's something like your kids and you're so
excited about whether they're walking for the first time, we're talking,
or they hit their first you know, softball or whatever
(03:59):
it may be. I see how that excitement can happen,
and you're like, I just want to share it with everybody.
I want everybody to know and see how proud I am.
So I'm like, yeah, ideally, I would not do that
as like a very smart safety precaution, But then there's
this other side of me that just gets so excited
to share my life with anybody who's willing to listen. Yes,
And I understand. I totally get that because when my
nephew was born, I was so excited and I was like,
(04:21):
oh my gosh, I want to share his pictures. I
want to share the first tim I get to hold him.
But he was born in November and it's June. I
can't do the math of how old he is right now,
but he's like several months old right now. And I
think I've gotten used to it. At first, it was
hard because I'm so just excited. I want to share
him with just everybody. But since I've gotten used to it,
(04:44):
I don't know, it's like a weird thing. I'm used
to it, so I'm like, it's fine, Like we'll keep
him private. Dear siblings do they share? So they do,
but we're not posting them on mine. Yes, as a
safety thing, because I do. I mean, no, is there
anything public about my life? No? Like is there sure
people know who I am? Do I consider myself a
big person? Know? But in the very small spectrum with
(05:08):
my niece and nephew, yes it is. And so yeah,
we don't. We don't post them on mine anymore in
this like day and age, just because there's they've had
some incidents where people start to recognize them and they're like,
we don't, we don't need that, and like, yeah, you're right,
we don't. Like that doesn't need to happen. And I
would rather protect my niece and nephew than you know,
a post our time together. It's not necessary exactly, and
(05:28):
like the grand scheme of things, we just want to
look out for the little ones that we love, and
so yeah, it's I think it's it's best for us
to protect them. And it is a little weird, like
if people are coming up to your sister and her
kids like, hey, you're Morgan's you know, like association by
association by association, and you're just like, how did you
even put two and two together? Exactly. It's kind of
(05:50):
like the creepy part about it, but too Like I
also think there's a really cool factor in that when
you don't share them a lot, when you have any
sort of a public life, you have something that's private
and that's really difficult to have in a public life.
So like when I see celebrities not sharing them and
I see you know, actresses or a list labs, like
(06:11):
some share them and some don't. But I'm like, I
get it because if there's so much of your life
that's out there, it's like when you get to go home,
you have something that isn't out there and it's for you. Yes,
So I feel like that could be said the same
with kids, like they're they're ours and this is our
family and this is what we get to have for ourselves.
I totally agree with that, And I feel like whenever
(06:33):
I go home, that's funny you mentioned that whenever I
go home, people know I'm home because I'd never post
anything because I know people are like, are you okay?
I love my grandma will text me and she'll be like,
she just texted me the other day. Miss you on Instagram.
Haven't seen you post in a while. Like, I'm I'm sorry,
I haven't posted anything on Instagram. I really don't have
anything to post. But when I'm home, I just want
(06:55):
to be with my family and focus on our time together.
I don't have my phone out like taking videos and
pictures of every little thing we're doing. That's my private time.
I want to keep that space very private. So there
is something to that too, But I think you should
have that regardless if you have a public or a
private life. I think you should always have that time
where you are not doing something on social media. I
totally agree it's good to have that little privacy boundary. Yes,
(07:18):
as a social media manager, I encourage you to at
least take an hour of your life every day off
away from all kinds of social media everything. Yeah, and
just spend time with people that you love. Yes, Morgan
does a really great job of taking that time every
day to just like put her phone away and you know,
get off social media because you have to see a
(07:39):
lot of things, so moans, she's the best one to
talk about that of just taking a break from socials
and just putting the phone away and enjoy your family,
enjoy your dog, enjoy from me. Yes and all of
my friends. And I'm a terrible texter because when I'm
on my phone and computer all day, the last thing
I want to do is go home be on my
phone more. And so they'll they'll like text me at
like o'clock in the afternoon and I'll get back to
(08:01):
him like eight am the next day. I'm sorry, I
was not like my phone. Yes, that's happened to me.
I think yesterday you texted me or no, I texted you,
and then I have a new dog now, and our
bedtime is like nine o'clock, so wake up this morning
and we're going to text me like ten thirty. And
I was like, I'm sorry, I've already been asleep for
like an hour and a half. So me and you
(08:21):
were on different like little time clock style, yes, but
but both taking time to do things. And I yes,
I'm not going to let this lie because it makes
me laugh every time. But the fact that your grandma
is on Instagram will never not make me laugh. I
think it's amazing. I love it so much. We need
to give it. Her name's mall. We call her Moll
because I know she's going to listen to this. She
listens to everything that I do. But yeah, she loves Instagram.
(08:46):
And it's so funny because I was talking to one
of my cousins and Mall will screenshot like a picture
I post or one of my cousins and she'll send
it to like the other family members. But all the
other family members follow me, so they've already seen it.
They're like, yeah, we know, yeah, so then they get
to see it again. So I think that's funny. But
it just so shows that she's proud of all her
(09:08):
grandchildren and she loves us. But yeah, she's got Facebook,
she's got Instagram. She keeps up with everything, and it's
so funny. I'll post something and she'll text me about
it shortly after, and you know comment, she'll ask about
my friends, so she knows you. She's asked about you.
She loves just keeping up with all my friends and
everything I'm doing. But she's the one who notices when
(09:29):
I'm like, m Ia, She'll text me like, are you
doing okay? You haven't been on Instagram in a while,
Like no, my life's just really boring right now. I'm
all no, But I love that. I mean, she's so
hip and she's so in tune with what's going on
and like yeah, she's like, hey, you know, if I
want to hang out talk to my grandkids, I gotta
get on social media. Like she was like, not one
of those people that push it to the side. She's like, yep,
bring it all. I want to see my kids. Oh yeah.
(09:50):
She loved that. She's been on in a few years.
She's got She texts, which I guess joy other grandma
does now too, But I guess a lot of people's
grandmas don't really have iPhones and Instagram and texting and
use emojis and the gifts and everything, but she does.
She's got it all figured out. Oh no, my one grandma.
She has her own farm and she's living her best life.
(10:11):
But I'll talk to her like once every few months
because I'll try and call her. She's like sorry, I
was working out on the farm. So we have a
lot of hit or miss yeah and texting no. Which
is so funny though, because she used to be like
an English professor, so she's like very good with words
and stuff, but she just like does not text. She'll
email me like randomly. When when the Nashville tornado hit, Yeah,
she sent me an email and she was like, hey,
(10:32):
I'm just checking in on you. I was like, Grandma,
you have my phone number. We've talked on the phone.
That's so cute. See, I was gonna say, because your
grandma lives in a farm. The reason I think by
grandma does all of that because she lives on a
farm too. She's on like five hundred acres. I think
she married a chicken farmer, and she's got her donkeys
and her little miniature pony and all of that. So
(10:52):
that's just what she has out there. So we are
the people she gets to talk to, being your connectivity
because if it's not us, and she's talking to her donkey,
so she loves talking to them. But I mean it's
nice to have a little human interaction sometimes. So that's
why I think she's got a lover so much more
out our grandmas would get along great. Oh yeah, you
need to come down and meat while she would love it.
(11:13):
They have a farm and they have a little loft
area that we could go stay in and she'd introduce
us to like her the dolls, yeah, and her donkeys,
and she goes out see me and you just get
on like a rabbit hole. We just talk about all things.
But she has a pond behind their house. And I'm
not kidding you. She walks out there and all the
ducks come to her. They all know her because she
(11:35):
goes out there to feed them. She is like a
is a doctor Doolittle. She really is so that. Oh
she talks to all the animals, she feeds them, takes
care of them. So yeah, she is she's doing. She
loves animals. I love that, and I can see why
both of us, like both of you and I are
huge animal lovers. Yes, and we were both raised in
(11:55):
families that are huge animal lovers. So it makes a
lot of sense now, like hearing you talk about it, Yeah,
my family was the same way. Grow up on farms,
you have all the animals. You just learned to love
just about every animal. There's not an animal that I
don't like. Like, I really don't have an animal that
I'm not a fan of. I agree, unless this snake counts.
But it's like a reptile. Yeah, but yeah, besides, I'm
(12:16):
not like I don't want to see him die. I
don't want to see any animal. But it does make
me sad. Roadkill makes me cry. Oh my gosh. If
I say it, I'm like crying. I'm sitting there in
my car and I'm like, I'm crying over something that
I didn't I don't even know what it is. Same
and me and my roommate recently, she was she was
the driver, not me. She thought she hit a squirrel
and we turned around and went back to make sure
and we did not he was We were good. Oh
(12:38):
my gosh. I didn't tell anybody this because I was
so traumatized, and especially Amy with her birth thing right now.
Oh no. I walked out into the garage after work
one day. Everybody was gone, and there was a baby
bird that had fallen from a nest and it was
not alive, and I was not well. I left it.
I had to. I couldn't. I couldn't. I made sure.
Like when I first walked by it, I was like,
(13:00):
oh my god, I can't, I can't. I cannot do this.
Today I walked by it and then I stopped and
I went back to make sure that it wasn't alive,
because if it was even a little bit, I was like,
I guess I'm saving a baby bird today. It wasn't.
I was not alive, and I just happened ran away.
I don't know, I was more worried about as I
needed to save it. Yeah, well we have the garage
(13:21):
that has all these bird nests. Yeah, they're like, I
think it fell out of one of them. I mean
it was a baby, like you could tell it was.
I didn't have feathers yet, like it was a baby.
Oh it probably the concrete. Yeah. Yeah. I was so sad.
I was so traumatized kill her. Like I didn't talk
to anybody for like two hours. When was this last week?
Oh my gosh. Yeah, she didn't tell me about this.
(13:42):
I was like, I wasn't here and I didn't want
anybody else to go in through that troom with me.
But I'm going through it right now. I'm really sad
that I had to finally share it. Yes, once we
finished this, I want to go out there. I'm sure
it's a long gone now, but like what happened to
the baby way and heavy on my heart, But I
did I didn't double make sure that it wasn't alive,
that I could have saved it, but no, he was gone.
Ay that's sad. We're starting off on a very set
(14:04):
I know. Okay, well let's get started so we can
get some more exciting names, y'all can hear right now? Eddie, Amy,
Lunchbox talk about posting their kids on social media, and
Bobby even talk about what he plans to do when
he has kids. Number seven Get something Hello, Bobby Bones,
(14:29):
I'm currently sixteen weeks pregnant and I want to get
your thoughts on something. I've noticed a lot of celebrities,
including country artists such as Marion Morris, deciding to not
post any photos of their baby's face when posting on
social media. People who choose not to post their kids
face argue that since the child isn't old enough to
decide if they want a social media presence, it isn't
cool just to post their face on the Internet. I'm
curious as to what your thoughts are and what you
(14:50):
think the right thing to do is when it comes
to posting your children on social media. Whenever you do
decide to have kids, do you think you'll post their
faces on Instagram? Thank you Bobby from Kendall and Central Coast, California.
I think everybody in the show has a little different
outlook though. Who does have kids? Amy, your kids are
on social well, your son doesn't want to be anymore?
Right but your daughter is on right now. Yeah, so
that's kind of always was. I posted them, probably before
(15:13):
they really understood what it was, and I'm not sure
that that was you know, I maybe I shouldn't have.
I don't know. For me, it felt okay. And then
once that was when they were in Haiti, and then
once they were officially home with me and they were
my kids, I would tell them about it and talk
to them about it. And yes, my son used to
be a ham and all wanted to be all over it.
My daughter was more shy, and now they've kind of
(15:34):
switched and anything I posted her I have her permission.
And then yeah, with him, he's taken a break from it,
but that's his choice and I respect that, Eddie. Your
kids are not on social media, correct. Yeah, I'm along
the lines of they're not old enough to really decide.
When they are they can decide if they want to
be all over the internet. I mean, as of now,
they're my kids. My job is to protect them, so
I protect them from the Internet. But you're all of
(15:55):
a sudense thirteen Now, if he doesn't want to be
on the internet, nah, not till he's eighteen. Then he
can decide what he wants to do. You're gonna tell
me if he's sixteen years old, yeah, and he wants
to have an Instagram or a TikTok, You're gonna be
like no, yeah, then I'm gonna go to my Instagram
and show him all the comments of people making fun
of me and be like, do you want this? But
(16:16):
you won't care He'll say yes, No, he won't. Okay,
I'm gonna say it. You're gonna be embarrassed, you're gonna
hate it, and you may be right, but I'm just
gonna tell you other things that you've said or like
you're not getting in phone, like what you're not getting
in a phone? And until eighteen? Yeah, and he got
one at thirteen. But my only point was you don't
put your kids on Instagram right now? Correct? I bet
you At fifteen Eddie's oldest son is on. That's two
(16:41):
years no, no chance and lunchbox. You don't put your
kids on. I don't put my kids on social media
because of the stranger danger factor. I don't want listeners
knowing who my kids are and then my kids thinking
oh I must know them, So I want them to
be able to have their own privacy and the stranger
danger factor because we live a celebrity lifestyle or we're
in the public eye and people recognize us in public.
(17:03):
So I don't want them to recognize my kids in
public and be like, hey, what's up and my kid
be like how do I know you? And that just
gets weird. I don't know what we're gonna do. I'll like,
calem make that decision if we have kids. She's like,
I don't feel comfortable with it. I'm gonna be like, cool,
if you made the decision, though, what would you do?
I wouldn't care. I mean from birth to they're gonna
be out everywhere anyway. I can't take them anywhere people
(17:25):
won't Bacually, people are gonna take pictures of me. People
take pictures of me all the time out of places
I have my kids with me, but public and internet's different.
But they may take a picture and post it. I
don't know. I don't that would be rude if they did. Though.
We were a top golf to other day and some
guy comes up and just starts taking pictures of me
without I don't care, but be like, hey, can I
take a picture with you? Absolutely, come here, buddy, but
(17:45):
instead he say I got I'm all these weird poses
drink eating food, eating nachos, ye like, and I'm like,
hey man, I would like to meet you. Let's take
a picture. And as soon as I look up, he
runs away, and I was like, that was weird. I
was like, Eddie, what has happened there? That's crazy? Um,
I don't know what's gonna happen. I'll probably just go Kaylen,
(18:05):
what do you want to do? I have friends the
Rotics and you Rotic his wife Brooklyn Decker. They don't
put their kids social media. They're famous, you know. And
it's hard too, because you have a lot of moments
where you're just oh, that would be great on Instagram, friend,
and maybe we do maybe I do a baby, maybe
a TikTok crushes. I don't have an answer right now.
I'm not in it. I don't know what Caitlin's gonna
(18:25):
want to do, because right now she may be like
I don't want to, but then there may just be
that way she's like, Okay, let's just post this picture.
Thank you for your email. We appreciate that. Good luck
with your baby. It's almost time for her to have
a baby. All right, close it up. We've got your
game that's about to clothe. It's the best bits of
(18:47):
the week, with Morgan number two coming in hot at
number six. It's everybody's favorite game. It's the battle of
the generations. Eddie and I go up against each other
because he is known as the Elder and I'm known
as the millennial, and we answer questions about each other's generations.
And let me just tell y'all, Eddie is not doing
(19:08):
too hot this season. And I love it everything about it.
I love it. But I hope you guys enjoy this
game and you get a good crack out of some
of our Harry very bad missus number six. It is
time for the generational quiz show known as Elder Versus Millennial.
It's Eddie the oldest, Morgan number two the youngest. Let's
(19:29):
meet our competitors up first. He's a dad of four.
I call him the hispanic who don't panic. His kids
call him daddy. Last week he served as my caddie.
It's producer Dy his opponent. She runs our digital She's
(19:52):
five foot zero and drives a big jeep and she
has a side hustle making magazines about sheet it's Morgan
number two for those wondering Morgan, What am I referencing there? Oh?
I do. I design a magazine that's about Hampshires, which
is sheep, and I just you know, I helpe him
sell their sheep. Different farmers across the US, Arkansas, Wisconsin,
(20:16):
they're everywhere. What's a sheep go for? Like a really
good sheep, like over a thousand bucks for one cheep?
And then what? Because I heard some sheep in Montana
and an episode of Breaking Bobby Bones coming up. But
I think maybe it's a different like why would people
buy a sheep? Um? Well, I think it's similar to
like cows and farming, like they do different things. Some
do it for wools, some do it for the meat,
(20:37):
different processes. But I think that's really what it is.
They buy and sell them just like you would cows.
Kind of Have you ever gotten attached to one as
you're loading up in the magazine and you're like, I
need that sheep. Well, the guy who hired me for
this job he named a baby Lamb after me. I
got really excited. But I don't think that Lamb is
around anymore. Chop, Yeah, And I don't think he's here anywhere,
(20:58):
but his name was Morgan for a while, so there.
She is our our favorite sheep magazine editor Morgan number two.
All right, hit me with that. Let's go three questions, Eddie.
I'll give you three questions that Morgan will know the
answer to. Come on. Layton Measter. What Layton Measter is
best known for her starring role as Blair on What
TV show? Layton Measter? Layton Measter? What is how? I've
(21:23):
never heard of that person in my life? UM TV show?
Let's go with um um Game of Thrones incorrect? Morgan,
You can still if you know who Layton Mester is
and what show she was on? That is XO XO
gossip Girl. Gossip Girl is correct? Okay, Eddie, Good for
you by Olivia Rodrigo. Here's a clip. It's being compared
(21:50):
to a rock song from two thousand and seven called
Misery Business. Who sings Misery Business? Kelly Clarkson? Incorrect? Morgan,
who sings this song? We'll play it again from from
Misery Business? Is the name of it? I'm kind of offended.
(22:16):
It's Paramore. It's Paramore. They do kind of sound alike.
Huh yeah, a lot? Can I hear good for you again,
and then play misery business. That first one is that
(22:39):
driver's license girl? Yeah, I mean similar but I ain't
suing over it, but I do hear similarities. Okay, Eddie,
so far you're over to. This three letter word gained
popularity with being the catch phrase in the online multiplayer
game among Us. It means, given the impression that something
is questionable or dishonest, what is it? Good thing? My
(23:01):
boys play among Us? That is sus. That's correct? Come on, hey,
that guy sus nice coming out of his mouth. It
sounds weird. How do you say it? US? I don't know.
It just Soundsbury's coming out of your mouth. Eddie, you got.
Eddie's got one point of proud Morgan number two has
(23:21):
got two points, which, by the way, she won the
first game last week. All right, Morgan, were coming to
you with questions. Now we'll do music for you as well.
On this day. In nineteen eighty two, this band released
our hit song I of the Tiger, which was also
the theme song for Rocky three, named the band that
(23:42):
sings I Have the Tiger survivor. Wow, I'm shocked right now? Wow,
How I love Rocky Dang dang. Okay, here you go,
next step. Nannu Nanu is the catchphrase of Mork and Mindy.
(24:02):
What famous comedic actor played Mark And here's a clip
of Nanunnu. You ever heard nu in your whole life?
You haven't heard n No? Maybe my dad said it
at some point. Oh gosh, famous actor. If you get this,
(24:24):
you win. Yeah, and I'm not feeling confident. Let me
say it again. No, no doesn't help, no matter how
many times you say, um, Chris Farley, No, that's it's solid.
Guess a little before follies, Eddie, give me Robin Williams. Correct, No, no, no, no,
(24:45):
all right, here we go. Come on straight Up and
Rush Rush are two songs. Here is straight up and
Rush Rush. There's the second song, Rush Rush. Come to me.
(25:06):
Who sang these songs for the win? I don't know.
Oh wow, it feels like a pop girl group. But
that does not sound like five scrolls, So maybe the
only other one that was like really before my time
was TLC TLC. Incorrect, Eddie, you can tie this if
(25:29):
you know who sings straight up and Rush Rush, I
will tie the game bones with Paula Abdul. Correct. Yeah,
that is correct. All right, Let's go to tiebreaker. Eddie
get three questions? That's it. No chance to steal from Morgan.
Let's see how many you get. What was the name
of the c W TV show about the lives of
two sisters, Val played by Jenny Garth and her teenage
(25:51):
sister Holly played by Amanda Bynes Jenny Garth c w
um which is a waverly place. Incorrect? You can't steal.
Would you have known that? Morgan? Is it nine or two? One? No?
It's what I like about you, Jenny Garth? After that, uh,
Eddie one? Are the first names of the two Sprouse brothers,
(26:11):
Jimmy and Ben No, Dylan and Cole sprouts no clue? Okay.
This is basically another word for lying. It can be
used like no blank or you can say stop blanking. Okay,
hold on, hold on, I just saw this word. You
can get this one. It's pretty used pretty regularly. Now, gosh,
(26:35):
hold on. Basically another word for lying. Yeah. Yeah, it's
like it's like bull but it's not that. It's um.
Oh my gosh, what is it? It's like cuts or
cast um casting. Oh no, I don't know it cast
(26:58):
cast caste. So close? What is it. You know it?
Is it front? No? No? Is it no? Cap Oh
so close, Oregan. All you have to do is get
one of the tiebreakers and you win. This one whose catchphrases,
I pity the fool, I pity the fool, pity the fool.
Was it the Grandfather, the grandfather, grandfather of movie? I
(27:20):
don't know that godfather, the Godfather saying correct? You imagine
if he was in the Godfather. It is mister t
mister t Right, the Rocky fan of her who was
in Rocky three. Coincidentally, Glow was a popular women's wrestling
organization that began in nineteen eighty six, and it's continued
(27:41):
in various forms even after it left television. What does
GLOW stand for? General? Ladies of wrestling? I got nothing,
gorgeous Ladies of wrestling one word. And finally, if you
don't get this, it ends up in a tie. What
color was the running man in the AOL logo? Yollo?
(28:03):
That's correct? So dumb? What dang it? I can't? At
least you got that. There you go, Morgan. Number two
is our winner and there she has it. Two victories.
She's up two to zero. Eddie, it's not good not good.
A good showing by me, not a good showing. It's
(28:25):
the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
It's wedding weekend this weekend for Mike d but Bobby's
wedding is also coming up soon and during the show
this week, we talked about Bobby's bachelor party and Eddie's
crazy idea for having a fight night. Yeah, you can
hear all about that. It's a little crazy Eddie really
through one out there. But Hillary, do you have any
(28:47):
ideas already? You know we talk about like dating and stuff,
but which speaking of, are you dating anybody? No, I
have got I'm so busy with my little dog right
now that there's just no way and there's nobody to meet.
You do have a new love in your life, it's
a little puppy. Yes, that takes up all my time.
That's a new version. Are you on dating apps or anything?
I am not. It's just me right now, just me. Yeah. Wait,
(29:09):
did you decide to give up on the dating apps?
I know we were going back and forth for a
little bit there. Yes, I did, because the same people
are on there. I don't understand them because I feel
like people talk to you and then they don't follow up,
and I think it's just because they have so many
other people they're talking to. The pool is too big
for them. So guys are just talking to like all
(29:29):
these other girls and not able to focus on just one.
So I've given up on that. Do you like feel
like you're putting yourself out more in public? Sin's deciding
not to be on the dating apps. I mean, I'm
outside of my house more often, so body draining my
dog so me and if somebody walks by with their dog,
that's probably the best way for me to meet somebody
(29:51):
at this point right now, the grocery store, the grocery
feel like you're like even just when you're out in
public even a little bit more, do you feel yourself
looking more? Um? Not really, because I feel like every
time I'm got in public lately, I really do not
all look my best And I'm just not going to
go I'm not even going to approach anybody anyways, So
(30:12):
I don't know how to do all of this. Morgan's
like my coach, but I don't know what to do.
I can't go approach somebody right well, I mean you can,
and you should if you feel inclined to not like
force it, you know, like not like force yourself to
go up to people just because. But somebody, I don't
remember where I saw this, and this is not coming
from me, but I saw it somewhere, but somebody was like,
(30:35):
if you think about it, you've probably met someone that
could potentially be your one, but you're so busy looking
down on your phone when you're out and about that
you probably haven't looked up to see. And so that's
why I asked, like, are you intentionally looking? I had
to like before I started dating like this guy that
I'm with now, that every time I was out in public,
(30:56):
I would like intentionally put my phone away, yeah, and
make sure that I was aware in making eye contact
with people, even at the gym, at the grocery store,
when I went to the mall, just different scenarios, and
I felt like I was putting myself out there more
because I was just in that moment that makes sense,
(31:16):
if that If that makes sense, like it feel like
it helps me a lot too, because I felt better
that I was putting myself out there because my head
wasn't in my phone. So if I did have the
chance to meet someone, I was putting myself out there. Yeah,
by being present. I totally get that, and I do
feel like because really the only place I go are
the grocery store, and that's kind of my meantime. I
go to the grocery store for therapy. Basically, I feel
(31:39):
that though like I feel that I love doing it.
So when I go to the grocery store, I'm more
focused on checking the strawberries, like spending five minutes making
sure I like this carton of strawberries, and which chips
do I want today? Or what am I going to
make for dinner? And then I have my little list
on my phone, so I guess whenever I'm browsing for
an avoca or something, I can look up and see
(32:01):
who's all around me. But I don't know. Whenever I
go somewhere, I'm just so focused on doing that one
thing that I don't really pay attention to what's happening. Well,
I'm going to encourage you to start doing that, especially
because you just told me you decide to go on
off dating naps and this is the only other way
you aren't going to meet someone. The look on her
face right now, wish you could see it. She's very
serious right now. But I know, I mean, you just
(32:24):
told me that you took away the dating aps. Fine,
totally get it. It's cool, they're not fun. But then
you're telling me when you go out and public, you're
just making attention to the one thing you're doing, and
I need you the multitask. Well, I need to go
do more things. What do I what can I go do?
It's more like people friendly meeting things. Happy hours. I
(32:44):
feel like happy hours are such a big thing compared
to just going out to bars and drinking. Yeah, is
not how logistically you're probably going to meet someone that
you want to share life with. But like happy hours.
I see so many attract to humans at happy hours, really,
and it's because they go and they have a drink
(33:05):
and then they go home and they're not tourists. It's
like it is literally like people here during the week.
You go to a happy hour, Well maybe you can
come see groups of guys. Yes, you can beat my
wing woman. I love happy hours, but I just feel
like that's too where Like if you're in that dating range,
I feel like happy hour is the best place to be. Yeah,
even if you're just going to get apps, you don't
(33:25):
even have to go and drink. I mean they have drink.
They have fun snacks for happy hours too. I'm gonna
go get some chips in case. So I'm like, okay,
he's all here. I really do feel like the way
I'm telling you I'm being so serious. Way I'm gonna
beat s my right now is just me being out
in my front yard just waiting ros might walk by.
You're waiting for the rom com to happen. I'm waiting
(33:47):
for somebody to walk by with their dog. There was
a cute guy with his dog the other day. I
know the dog's name. I don't know the owner's name.
The dog's name is Annie, and I've seen them twice now.
But in our dog's got to say hello. And then
my neighbor has a cute friend that I've seen. So
I feel like there are people. Okay, So you're at
least you are putting yourself out there because you're paying attention. Yes, yes,
(34:11):
because my dog wants to sit out there for thirty
minutes just to go to the pathrough, So are you
sitting on your phone in that thirty minutes? Now? Sometimes
I'll face to my mom, but most of the time
me and her are kind of looking around because I
have to make sure no dog's coming to like attack her.
But she's my inn with people because everybody wants to
come see her. Oh yeah, and her. So that's kind
(34:33):
of the conversation starter, is Georgie. So yeah, I'm the neighbor.
I want to talk to the friend, so that's going
to happen. I'll make sure that happens. Okay, next I'm like, yeah,
a few weeks from now. I know this is creepy,
but I know what he drives. So next time I
see him, you're attracted to someone, I encourage you. The
next time you see this man, I encourage you to
(34:56):
ask him to get coffee. Okay, he's probably married or thing.
That's the worst. That's the worst part about men and
them not wearing engagement rings because what if they are engaged, yeah,
and they're not wearing anything, and you're like, oh, I'm
so sorry, I didn't know, And that could happen because
my neighbors who he hangs out with, they're engaged, so
(35:17):
he could be with another girl fifty chance for sure. Yeah,
so we may have to give up on him, and
but maybe that okay, maybe the next time you see him,
you just try and find out a little bit more
so you can feel comfortable asking. I need at least
say hey, because I haven't said hey yet. I haven't
said anything. I just sit here and look over and
then look back. That's your homework assignment. And all the
(35:38):
listeners listening that are single, their homework assignment is to
look up from their phones when they're out in public. Okay, yeah,
we'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted on neighbors friend. Okay,
that's what'll Okay, Well, once we figure that out situation.
Before we get into this bit, though, did you have
any ideas, like solid that you're absolutely gonna do for
(35:58):
your bachelorette or your that you're like this is going
to happen. I feel like I'm a very calm person.
I'm not a partier, and I think a lot of
people I've lived in the two bachelorette destinations. I lived
in Charleston and now I live in Nashville. I'm not
going to party one of those places for my bachelorette party. Honestly,
(36:19):
what I want to do is just go rent a
cabin somewhere in Tennessee, get my friends, together. We can
make some s'mores and we could even go to Dollywood
or something like. I just want to do something fun
where we can go canoeing on the lake. I want
it to be super chill and just a very relaxing weekend.
I don't want to go out partying because it's just
(36:41):
not me, all right, Yeah, so I'm taking notes. I'm
taking notes as we speak, And no, awkward do you
call it paraphernilia? How what do you call that? What
would you call it? You're talking about? You don't want
any of the boy things around your party. It's just
not necessary and it's not me, and most likely my
(37:03):
sisters will be with us, and I just could not
have that awkward interaction. But my sister so and I
just would be uncomfortable, and I don't want to be
uncomfortable about my own bachelorette party. So we'll just stick
to haganad at a cabin in the woods. No, no
dirty things happening. Absolutely not. And for wedding, you know,
(37:23):
I feel like since Corona happened, and I've seen so
many people having smaller weddings and Kelsey and Mike getting wedding,
getting buried, I've you know. I'm friends with them, so
I've heard them talking about their plans and stuff. I
don't want a huge wedding, I really do kind of
just want like my friends and family there, Like I
don't care how many people are there, I know for sure. No,
(37:46):
this is random. I want a mashed potato and swo
potato bar. That's like my one that's my one request. Okay,
So a smallish medium a mediumish sized wedding with a
sweet potato mashed potato bar. And I'm happy you are sold.
What about you? Now, all we have to do is
find either group. Now, we got to find me somebody
(38:06):
and and they have to check off on these things.
I don't I don't think. I mean, I definitely don't
have any mashed potato sweet potato situation. I think I
want some form of bondue found or something. I'm a
huge sweet person. Yes, so there will be something to
do with sweets in the form of a bar or
a fondue situation would be cool of some kind because
(38:28):
I want all the sweets. I could even forego the
real meal and just doe you could, like you could
just have different sweets set up. I do think I want,
like an ice cream bar, and like, I want different
bar type things where you can kind of create your
own stuff, like a mac and cheese bar. You would
love that. You love mac and cheese. One of my
friends had a mac and cheese bar and it was glorious.
(38:48):
That's why I love awesome. So you can do sweets
with a mac and cheese bar. Yeah, my poor husband's
just on his own. You could pick up food on
the way, get some taco belt. You could have Taco
Bell cheese potato. I have thought about if they get
like a food truck situation and having a Taco Bell
situation there, that could be so awesome. And I'm hoping
(39:09):
by the time I get married. Talk about figures without
to have a food truck. They have to. You would think, right,
I'm shocked they don't have it all right, But I
could just get them catered. I know they catered. I okay.
I feel like Morgan's not even engage, like she's not
getting married. But it's like my mission now to get
you a Taco Bell food truck at your wedding, because
I'm just as excited as you are about this. Yes,
(39:29):
we're gonna make this happen. I feel like that's necessary
for my wedding. Yes, we need, we need all of that.
What about your bachelor party? No, I mean I don't,
Like I have this idea that we would have not
a combined bachelor bachelotte party, but we get like a
massive house somewhere and for one night, you guys are separated,
like the Bachelor and Bachette party separated. But then the
(39:51):
second night, in the second day, you play like Olympic
drinking games together like a combo party, and then at
night you can either go out together ag that friend.
But I've thought about that, and I guess it just
depends on my partner and how he is and his friends,
what he wants kind of thing. Yeah, if everybody like
gets along, because I've gotten to party and hang out
with my girls for so much in my life, that's
(40:12):
true that like, as long as I have a one
really solid night with them, I'd be happy. Yeah, And
I'm more you know him. I love hosting things, and
I just love creating a big, fun environment and like
playing a whole like Olympic drinking games of the guys
versus girls. I feel like would be so fun. That
would be so much fun, and we have to have
a sharp cootery board. I always say that we need
(40:34):
one of those two and then that's like Morgan's perfect
bachelorette party. But jella shots, it's so random the ones
that Morgan. Morgan can make all of them. But it's
your bachelor parties, so you can. But you're the one
who does it the best. So yes, but those things,
So something along those lines. But I know that once
I meet someone, it could all totally change. See. I
feel like we have like not unique because I know
(40:57):
a lot of people do this, but we're not your
typical girls, I guess because we do live in Nashville
and we just we don't really want the whole party,
well your whole scene. We would have to sing in
a party town. Yeah, every weekend can be a party
like that if you want it to be. Yeah, so
let's go do something fun and unique. Yeah. So I
feel like that's kind of both what we want, different things. Yeah,
(41:18):
just not gonna have an anytime soon. Talk about food
truck in a sweet potato mashed potato bar. You heard
it here first. Happy to get married in like ten years.
So here's Eddie talking about his crazy pyt night and
his crazy idea of doing that for Bobby's bachelor party.
And you know, we'll see how Bobby responds. Number five,
I'm a bachelor party, pretty excited about that. Get a
(41:39):
bunch of friends together. If we're going to Arkansas, we're
gonna play some basketball, We're gonna just do a whole
lot of stuff that I really haven't revealed yet. But
Eddie came to me with an idea for the bachelor party.
Because up to this point, I have kept it off
Eddie to do anything. I've booked the house that we're
staying in, booked the flights, I've done at all, because
it's just like, I don't want anybody fill the burden.
I want Eddie to fill the burden. I mean, pay
(42:00):
for something. I appreciate that, right, And so he comes
to me and he goes, I haven't Yeah, well, well
you gotta understand. So he's doing all this stuff amy, right,
So I'm like, I gotta I gotta at least come
up with the events that we're gonna do at night,
because we're gonna play golf, we're gonna play sports. We
have a whole thing. But Eddie wants to come up
with night events and so pitch it to Amy like
you did me? Sure, Amy, look at me. So the
(42:23):
first night we get there, right, we got all our friends.
We have a bucket with everyone's names, and my kids
have boxing gloves that they got for Christmas. I take
the boxing gloves. We picked two of our friends and
we're gonna do fight night. So they fight it out
and everyone bets on who the winner is gonna beat.
It's just legal. There's sports, there's gambling. Yeah, from a bucket.
Oh my gosh, it's gonna be like underground fighting. But
(42:43):
I mean it's really us friends just having a run.
Caitlin freaks out when Bobby returns home with a broken nose. Well,
I worried about that. I didn't think about that. I
just thought it was a dumb I didn't begin with
so I didn't even get that far. Your teeth get
knocked out. Go ahead, Eddie, I'm listening, okay, So how
much fun would that be? Like? Really? Well, no, you're
missing the she's asking your question, am I exempt, Yeah,
because I could just sit in a throne and just
(43:04):
bet it's like on a gladiator when he does his
throat slit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Laukan Phoenix. I'm like, Okay,
I don't like it right now, kill him. See, I
do think that since it's your party, you're the one
getting married, you may be exempt from it. So for
Bobby's bachelor party, he sits and watches his friend's fight.
I don't that's weird. You love it? Creeped out? That
(43:28):
would be hilarious, awful, Like, we can't. There's no way
we're doing No, somebody would get into a real fight.
You know, people will get mad. Okay, Well, I'm just brainstorming.
So I guess we'll think more about it. And honestly,
I haven't given Eddie a lot of avenue to create stuff. Again,
he doesn't have a list of people who are coming in. No, Hey,
what about what I don't want? I don't want everybody
(43:49):
like getting on a little group text with me not
in it and being like, oh we should do with this,
and all of a sudden, well what do we do
with group text with everyone? There's a group text for Caitlin, right,
but she trust you guys. Okay, I don't trust these guys.
What do you mean fighting night? Okay, this is what's
gonna happen. All of a sudden, I show up and
they're like, well, we've all talked about it for a week,
let's let's get fighting night going. That sounds stupid. I
(44:11):
did hit Kaitlyn. Okay, I saw a TikTok where these
people like the guy is standing up, you guys who
know the wilbarrel you used to do with somebody when
they put their hands on the ground and get their feet.
So there's a TikTok where you that you have their
legs and you flip them and then land on their feet.
And I said, hey, it's because Kaitlyn is extremely athletic,
more of an athlete than I am. And I still
feel like I'm pretty good, but she is so athletic.
And I said, hey, we should do this because you
can easily do this. I said, or I'll do it.
(44:33):
And she's like, are you telling me we're just a
couple of months away from our wedding and you want
to do flips for a TikTok and if one of
us lands on our face and we break something within,
I was like, that's a good point that yeah, what
are you guys talking about in Kaitlin's little side message?
I can't say because it's it's surprised things. Do you
guys need to take a nude picture of me so
you can play pin the winer on the picture. Nope,
(44:55):
you're not doing ween or stuff, are you okay? I
she's not a weenered girl. No. I had weener stuff
at my which is weird. My friend Jill made weener
ice cube and my mom and my mother in law
were at part of it, and Jill was walking around
offering ice cubes to freshen up people's drinks, and she
(45:15):
offered a little weener cube to my mother in law
and it was so awkward. This is why it's one
of the last segments of the day here and I'm
going to look up boob ice cubes. I don't want
anything like I don't want anything like that. Nothing, nothing, man,
It's tough. It's the best bits of the week with
Morgan number two. We always have really fun guests on
(45:37):
the show, and this week we brought on Parker McCullum,
and not only did he talk about his crazy career,
but he also shared that he has a vault of songs.
Like he's only been around for a few years and
he has a vault full of songs. Can you imagine
what this means for all of us in new music.
I mean, I'm so excited about that Plats. He performed
pretty hard and his new song drinking, all good stuff.
(46:00):
So if you miss this, definitely listen to it now,
but then go watch the videos at Bobby Bones dot com.
Number four on the Bobby Bones Show. Now, Parker, how
are you, buddy? I'm really good? Now, how are you?
I'm good? It's uh. I'm always impressed when you show
up and we heard your singing a little. We do
a little sound check before you come on, and he's
(46:21):
just he's good, right, thank you. Some day one day
someone came in and we were like, hey man, we
heard you doing sound check. It wasn't that goodly No
More show said, you have your guitar. Why don't you
take us back and do a little bit of pretty
heart for us? Like a verse and of chorus. Parker
McCollum is here right now. I didn't think guys were big,
(46:48):
and that you good, you gony and you love me
the bit suit good. I'm the one on the drop
the ball, got you high, let you far let the
best thing I ever had slip away? And what does
(47:14):
that say about me? I could do you like I did,
then I can breaking name wings? What does that say
about me? They're a study like a fence post as
you jove offing your car, And what does that say
(47:38):
about me? Now they have broke? You're pretty hard, You're
pretty hard. Nice may sounds so good? Arker McCall him,
(48:00):
thank you, Dang, that's the eddy. Yeah, that's good man,
thank you, that's good. I watched your Instagram story your girlfriend?
Is she living with you? Or she is okay? And
was that a big step for you? Guys? I don't
think so. I mean, we went from living long or
dating long distance for two years to living together. But
she's like the easiest, sweetest, most wonderful human being ever,
(48:21):
So I think anybody could live with her. Did you
live with her in Texas? No, sir? So this was
it like when you moved here? It was the first time.
How did that conversation go. Was it just like, hey,
we're gonna do this right where she had always said,
you know, she's like, we're not gonna live together until
her married, And I was like, that's fine, I'll squeeze
out every last day of living. I love living by myself,
you know. I was like, I squeeze out every last
day I can. And then uh, I bought that house
(48:43):
just south of town, and she was like, well, she's
going to nurse and she started nursing school here, so
she was like, well, I guess I'll I guess I'll
move in. You know, I don't want to pay for
an apartment and when I'm gonna be here all the
time and all that. So I thought, so, and it's
going good. That's great. Have you learned anything about yourself
and living with another person? You know, I've been we've
been on the road the past few weeks, so since
we moved into the house, I really haven't. But no,
I haven't learned anything about myself. So for me, I
(49:05):
learned I'm probably a little messier than I thought when
I'm super clean, so I'm opposite. I felt that way too, Yeah,
but I felt like I was super clean too until
I got Kaitlin, and I was like, I leave clothes
everywhere like and so it's not dirty. But if I'll
walk in the house and I just take all my
clothes off immediately, so it's just like I just throw
him on the floor. I love that. And then that's
great and I'll come back around and grabbed them. But
(49:26):
I realized, Man, maybe I'm a little sloppier than I thought.
But you're just perfect. No, no, no, lots of lots
of flaws. We just hide them really well. Let me
ask you this, this is a situation we have at
my house. Would you or would she, in a pinch
use the other person's toothbrush? Sure? Sure, he entered that
you have. I mean I would rather have clean teeth
(49:47):
and then just have to like swallow the fact that
I used her toothbrush. I mean, if you're gonna be
kissing each other, but what's different rubbing the brush? But
I'm not licking the back of her teeth, like really
trying to get the plaque off it. You're not. No,
it's not my style. Maybe yeah, maybe a young guy,
but everybody was doing you guys are doing it different
these days. Huh. All right, tell me about to be
Loved by You. This is the current single, but it's
not on Hollywood Gold. It does not. It's on the
(50:08):
record that comes out with the summer called gold Chain Cowboy.
You just that's the gold. That's why I'm confused. You
got gold and everything? Now, I was it really bugged
me and man, and I just gotta get over things
like that. That's what it is. I was confused by it,
but I went with it. It's on the record that
is coming out that you let Twitter decide the title
of this record because I didn't voted in this poll.
Thank I voted for gold Chain Cowboy. By the way
(50:28):
you made it tell me about to be loved by you?
So we loved by you. That was um my merch
guy Lane Peace and I were in in my truck
headed a bus call one day in Austin and we're
going on the road and Hollie Ray and I were
going through it a little bit at the time, um,
and I said out loud, um, kind of being funny,
kind of being serious. I was like, man, what does
(50:49):
the man have to do to be loved by that girl?
And he was like, oh, you should write that down.
And people say that all the time, and I'm like,
that's dumb, but it was good and uh, And so
I went to the road it down And when we
got to the bus, we have a little mini like
parlor guitars Baby Martin on the back of the bus
and sat down and UM didn't write anything down. I
just like sang the first verse in chorus. It just
(51:11):
how it came out on the recording is how it
is in the song. And uh never wrote it down. Um,
and it didn't think anything of it. And I was
writing when my buddy Red akins here in town, probably
like two weeks later, and I was like, man, I
I really don't want to write today, so let's make
this quick. Let's just finish this thing that I've started.
And his eyes kind of lit up when I played it,
and he was like, yeah, let's let's just so he
wrote a second verse and that was a song. So
(51:33):
you said, I don't feel like writing today, Let's just
do this real question, hey, Red, let's go. Yeah. I
did see a tweet about you. You said you wrote
hell of a Year in the drive through of a
water burger. I'm only in water Burger for like fifteen minutes.
And try what water burger you're going through? Are the
same one that you wrote this ad? I lived right
(51:54):
by wim Ken in thirty five. Yes, Um, well, I
didn't write the whole song and okay, got it, got it,
got it. It was like two am and I'd been
writing that record of that song song probably wrong, and
I was in the middle of writing it and had
gone to eat role late at night and wrote, I
think the first the chorus and the first first and
the drive through and just kind of the next morning
I woke up and it was in my phone and
finished it the next morning. So I read it like
(52:17):
he wrote an entire song waiting for his order at Waterbirg.
As long as they take, it's certainly possible. It's worth
it every time. Your current EP, Hollywood Gold, is out now.
It has six songs on it. It has Pretty Heart
on it, which was your first number one. There's also
another song called Hallie ray Light. So he wrote that
song about your girlfriend. It's a funny story. Well, I'd
like to hear it because I don't know it. So
my buddy Gus West is a real good cowboy out
(52:38):
of West Texas. We were playing a rodeo he puts
on out there. This is like three or four years
ago now, and he'd been telling me about the squirrel
named Hallie ray Light, and he's like, you got to
meet the squirrel. I'd never seen a picture of anything,
but just the name. I remember being like, Hallie ray Light,
it's got to go in a song Long Story Shorts.
She ended up coming to a show. She was going
to Oklahoma State, still Water, Oklahoma. We played there at
the Tumbleweed. She came to the show. It was my
(53:00):
first night ever on a tour bus. And so I
don't think, like anybody else on their first nighte tour bus,
you probably thought you were a little cooler than you
really are. She didn't stay very long. Um, she didn't
think very much of me, and uh, but I thought
a lot of her. And I was holler not her
for like nine months, who just would not even give
me the time of days. But I was writing that
song Hallie ray Light the whole time she was ignoring me. Um,
(53:24):
And so it's uh, it was it was like nine
or ten months. I think I was after her pretty
pretty steady, and she finally came around. And so the
song originally ends with goodbye Hallie ray Light, and then
when she came around, I changed it to also saying
good says goodbye the second chorus, but it ends with
good night. And what does she think about you writing
a song about her but then putting her name and
then release and I mean it's a whole thing. Does
(53:46):
she like that I think, so she didn't say when
I when she heard the song, I remember her. I
was like, I was assuming, great, she gonna listen to it,
like we'd cut it in the studio. It's all mastered
right for the record. And she listened to and she's like, huh,
it's good. And I was like, that was rough man,
that was rough on the Bobby Bones Show. Now, hey,
(54:08):
tell me about this new song, drinking Drinking. Um. That's
an older song, man, But it's older. It's older. No, no, no, no,
it's it's new now. But when I wrote it, oh
my god, I'm about to be like, I'm the worst
interview wherever I thought, I just saw you. Okay, go
ahead as far as the So, there's like this vault
that the record has in Warner Chapel has of these
of everything I've written. And I feel like all the
(54:28):
good songs I've written aren't in them because I don't
turn them in. Um. But this is one that got
turned out. I finished my Buddy Lee Miller. Um. But man,
I was again, I like self sabotage in the past
to like be sad and write sad country songs. And
as terrible as that sounds, it's true, but it worked.
It's worked a couple of times, and um, and drinking
(54:50):
was one that's super late night up writing songs doing
things I shouldn't have been doing, and uh uh and
drinking came out of it kind of a verse and
chorse thing. And again never thought anything about it. And
I was writing Lee Miller one day and I was like,
I don't want to write today, let's make this quick.
So guy who has a lot of number one yeah, yeah,
and he's just a monster rider. But I did not
know it was our first time weber hanging out, so
(55:11):
I didn't know that. At the time I go home,
I'm like, god, I'm an idiot, you know, like try
hard dude and puts me for him. And but it's
it's fine because this song it's great and it came
out and I thought it ended up turning out really well.
But um, all the people in it are real people,
and which like all all the songs that I write are,
and they're all true. And I lived him and unfortunately
I lived this one too. So let me get that
(55:32):
it's an old song but it is new to us. Yes,
So I just wrote I wrote it summer of twenty eighteen,
So to me, that's old. I feel like got it.
I was about to go if I screw this up.
Now that's great. Thank you. He's coaching me through it.
He's like, man, you're doing great at this interview. Thank you. Okay,
got it? Did you know fine? Fact? Lee Miller wrote
a bunch of raging idiot songs Eddie and myself really
(55:53):
yeah number a comedy song. He's a monster man. And
it's weird because when we write, he'll like, remember the
first couple of times I wrote with him, he didn't
say anything for like an hour, and I'm like, is
he alive? And like is he breathing over there? And
then all of a sudden he just he's like, yeah,
what about this? And You're like he needed your encouragement,
Like I just got Like now I feel like I'm
top of the world. I could do any interview. So
(56:13):
it's a talented guy. Yeah, let's hear a little bit
of drinking. Sorry baby, I've been drinking. I tend to
ramble and a dude. Sorry baby, I've been drinking. Got
(56:43):
a laugh at morning, and he got you. If he
leaves you a lonely, don't go final b if there's
(57:05):
a chance you still want me, you know, damn well,
I needs some hill. I'm tired of drinking. I'm tired
of drinking by myself. Come on, that's really good. Thank you,
(57:29):
sir Parker. I'm a callum. Thank you guys. What's made
me feel very good? What's the goal the rest of
the year for you? I know you're out on the road,
you're with Dirks. You are you doing other shows? Your
shows as well? Yeah, we kind of they're kind of
weaved in between that tour. So I think that tour
is only like Thursday, Friday, Saturday every week. I could
(57:50):
be totally wrong about that. I have no idea. I
ain't have no idea where we're playing or where we're
going on that tour. Um, but I will be there
and uh, which is the case most of the time. Yeah,
I never know where we're going. Um, we we'll do
like we're headlining like Doseki's Pavilion in Dallas in between
that tour um and stuff like that. So you're just
you're just a road warrior man. Yes, I like to
(58:11):
be do you? I mean is that do you feel
comfortable on a bus? Can you sleep? I'm I'm a
bus guy. Like there's They always say there's like there's
bus guys, and there's or gals um or other um
and uh and and bus guy gal day day um
and um and so it's it's I'm a I'm a
(58:34):
bus guy. Man. I love uh. I love to be
on my bus and they're expensive. So I'm like, well,
I wouldn't I want to be on the damn thing.
You can pay for it. Yeah, And I sleep great.
I always say the best sleep you get in your
whole life's on a bus. I mean, it's ice called
ac it's pitch black. The motor homes you to sleep.
I mean it's ideal, except when it's rolling. I get shit.
You gotta sleep on driver's side and so you're with
(58:54):
the roll of the drivers. Well here's the thing. I'm
gonna flex on you a little bit. I have starbunk.
Have you know? I just got rid of it. I
didn't like it. What do you miss? I just I
had a start. I had one for like three weeks,
and I didn't like sleeping on the back of the bus.
So you sleep in the middle of the bush. I
got a condo bunk. Well, I don't know what's a
condo bunk. You know, like bunks their regular size are
kind of small. Well, like there's three in each row. Deal,
(59:15):
Well you can take one out and so there's two,
so you have more headspace. Yeah, more headspace, and it
feels way bigger. But sleeping in between the axles versus
on top of the back axle is much better. Well,
I know, as I get back there and I get
in the bed and I'm like, yeah, I'm in the
star bunk, and then all of a sudden, I'm just
shaking all over the place. This sucks. Star coaches are
for like three weeks. I was like, I was like, man,
(59:36):
why am I not sleeping good? And I was like,
it's because I'm not sleeping. So when I get that
little curtain clothes in that bunk, dude, it's I'm got
say it's party time, but it's that's not party time,
it's sleep time. All right, listen, I'm my favorite new
arts Parker McCollum. Follow him at Parker McCollum. He's got
six songs on Hollywood Gold and later later this year
gold Chain Cowboy comes out July. Is that official? It's official?
(01:00:00):
All right? There is Parker McCall Thank you guys. Good
to see you, my friend. It's the best bits of
the week with Morgan number two. This week we got
an update from Lunchbox on his acting class. He paid
like six hundred bucks to go take acting classes for
like four months so he could get better and chase
(01:00:20):
another wild dream of his. So, Hill, do you have
any like dreams that you wish you would have chased
that you didn't? Hm? Well, I feel like my main
dream since I was a kid was to move to
Nashville and work in country music, which checked that box.
I'm doing that, But what I really wanted to do
(01:00:41):
was be a host of some sort, like on TV,
So I guess that would still be fun. But over
the years I've developed kind of stage fright in a
way I guess public speaking or stage fright public speaking
like speaking from the people and sounding stupid, so kind
of a both both thing. Maybe I fear just more
of an insecurity. It is definitely an insecurity. We'll call
(01:01:03):
it an insecurity. So I need to get over that
and then maybe who knows. I don't know if I
could have spoken for different options now, Yeah, but that's
what I really wanted to do. I would sit at
home and watch CMT and GAC all the time, and
that's what I wanted. I was like, I want to
(01:01:23):
be that person who gets to host you know those
shows and you know, do all those fun things, host
red carpets and all that fun stuff. So I guess
that was my dream when I was a kid, and
that's something I haven't accomplished. I've been close. I feel
like you're on that way though. Yeah, I need to
put myself out there more. And we're talking about guys.
(01:01:46):
I need to put myself out there more, insane with
my career, I need to put myself there more. Overall
life overall, I just have a lot of things I
need to work on. Oh no, no, no, But overall
in life, I think most people just have to be
encouraged to put themselves out there more in general, because
life is scary, Yeah it is. And I just have
such a fear of failure and you know, people laughing
(01:02:08):
at me, making fun of me, and I just need
to get get past that and just go for it
and try it out. Well, you already have one cheerleader.
I'm never gonna laugh at you. I'm gonna write you
on from the sidelines. Yes, I'm gonna make signs. Morgan
is very encouraging, very very encouraging. Where we're good friends. Well,
I'll make sure that whenever that happens, I'll be there
with signs. Yes, and maybe cheesy pista potatoes to celebrate afterwards. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
(01:02:34):
But I mean I'm with you though I always wanted
to do country music of some kind. Of course, we've
all heard that I wanted to being her and my
point in my life, but we won't mention that it's
a really good thing that I didn't chase that dream
and then the only two other things that I feel like.
I mean, of course, especially now doing doing TV and
(01:02:56):
similar to you, we're very similar in that way of
what we want to chase music, industry and entertainment in
the in the world. I mean, like I did always,
I'm not against going into news. That was me. You
moved that I moved. Wait did a ghost move something? Oh?
The screens moving. That's weird. It's like moving now did
(01:03:19):
I I'm not touching anything. You could have accidentally hit it.
I'm not. It's moving right now. What is Eddie in here? Oh?
You know what? Eddie can access that stuff remotely. Oh
my gosh, I'm sitting here in the computers moving it
is I Eddie, I'm reading your emails right now. Morgan
emailed you. I'll close my eyes. I'm not I'm not
gonna look through your emails anything. Anyways, back to it.
(01:03:43):
That's funny, but this is what happens in the studio
when we record in the studio after hours. Oh my gosh, um.
Oh yeah, all those things thing I would do news,
news anchoring and stuff potentially still, but that's something that
I looked into the only reason I never really pursued
it after getting into radios because I mean, you talk
about the Internet being hard and seeing a lot of
(01:04:04):
negative things like doing the news every day. There's no
way I could do that, especially just right now. We're
just in a weird place where everything's really bad. So
it's still an option, like I would still love to
pursue that if it becomes something cool. But like random
missed opportunities, one is working with animals, Like I feel
like I could have been a really good like safari
(01:04:25):
girl or veterinarian if I like to do operating stuff,
but I don't. I just want to be a zoo keeper.
I was just gonna say, can you be a guide
at the zoo? To do I would love to be
a zoo keeper. Can we make that happen, like just
for a day. I want you to go to the
zoo and Nashville and just be like a You could
hold the sloths. Remember when we went to the zoo
(01:04:47):
and there's two people were holding the pole that has
sloth hanging from it. That would be a dream job
for you. Yes, Like I would love to work with
animals of some kind. Like that's still like a possible
passion project at some point life. I think that could
be something you could do maybe on the side or TV.
Can somehow they make that happen. Yeah, you could go
(01:05:08):
do like a show about the Nashville Zoo. Well then
the other one was going to be a chef. But
the problem being a chef is on a vegetarian. I mean,
I think though there's an avenue for that Morgan, because
are is there anybody out there, like on the Food
Network who's a vegetarian chef like show? Not that I'm
aware of. I think that Coel thing. It could be
a sweet TV show like focus on sweets. Oh yeah,
(01:05:30):
I do like that sweets and baking and all those things.
I don't know. Those are my my missopportunities with chef
and a zookeeper. Feel like I need to step it
up and think of more things I wanted to do
I did always want. This is kind of stole my
bucket list and I feel like this could happen one day.
Maybe I've always wanted to be in a music video. Oh,
you could easily make that happen. With the music industry,
I need to to let me be in their music video.
(01:05:53):
We are in that, we have, we have we know
enough people in the music industry that we could easily
make that happen. That's on my bucket list. So that's
kind of a dream thing because I don't I would
be a terrible actress. I've always thought it'd be fun
and interesting, but I'd be terrible at it. But in
a music video, you don't really have to speak. You
can just kind of sew things. I'll tell you I
(01:06:14):
was in one, but you never see me, but I
was there. What so, Craig Morgan International Harvester the music video, Sorry,
what I got shot in my hometown? Of which shot? Kansas?
Are you serious? All of it? Happened there. Every single scene,
I think, for the most part, every single scene. I
remember this music video Morgan, like I remember being at
home watching this music video when he was in the
downtown area. I was there. I was in the crowd.
(01:06:37):
Oh my gosh, you never see me, like, I know
where I am and I know where I was standing
and you can see like my little blondeire. I was
by myself too. My parents dropped me off to go
do this about myself because I wanted to go so bad.
That is That's something my parents would have done for
me too. Yeah, like they're just they't they didn't want
to go. They're like, yeah, we're out there. But then
I was like, okay, I'll go. I'll go by myself.
So I'm just chilling in one of them. Cool. But
(01:06:57):
that whole music video got shot in which stock Kansas.
I did not know that. Wow, what a fun fact.
It is a fun fact. But yeah, you won't see
I don't say I want to go back and watch
it now. So you need to do a music video.
There's not like a million extras. I want a million extras.
I want people to be able to like see me
and see me. I want a main role where there's Hillary,
(01:07:17):
we see her, we know that's her. Yes, okay, I
feel like we can contact somebody. We can easily make
that happy. You know how many music videos are getting
shot all the time. I know, do I like because
I always like, bring bring the guests in. Should I
be like, hey, you shoot a music video for that song?
We know Donna? We know Donna real well? Yes, oh,
I'm friends with all the labeled people. I'll just like
(01:07:38):
put a feeler out there and be like, hey, I
just want to like come hang out. Yeah, that's happened before.
We've got asked through that before, but we were working
the whole show, didn't When I want to say, it
was a few years ago when I first started, was
I here, yep, we were all here. It wasn't the
Jaco and what was it? I gosh, I can't remember
who it was now because it didn't matter because we
(01:08:00):
were working at the time, so we couldn't go. But
we definitely are asked by a label to just go
and chill out for one I feel like this could
easily happen. Nobody told me about that. I've been like,
I think we all got it. Like we were talking,
we briefly all talked about it. Huh, I could be
making that up in my head. No, you're probably not.
I'm just forgetting it. My brain is always rush. But yeah,
(01:08:21):
I mean, if anybody is listening to this and they
want me to be in their music video, hit me up. Yes,
you'd make a great music video personality. I could, I
think so, And then maybe once I'm in one, yeah
she can be. You know, I'd be cool is if
I could be in a I feel like Eric Church
did something like this where they have one music video
(01:08:44):
and then they have another song. It's like a story thing,
kind of like a mini movie. Oh yes, where you're
in multiple one. Sam Hunt did that recently too, where
it's like, I don't know, it's just like a story
all throughout all these songs, Like there's four different music videos.
It's telling this one story. Well, and I want to
ask this. So I'm on a show on Circle Network
called Country Countdown, which is awesome so fun. Yeah, watch it.
(01:09:08):
You can watch it on Peacock on Wednesday nights. You're
doing great, thank you, But we did. We counted down
the top ten country collabse and it made me think
of it because you're talking about music videos, and so
I had to go back and watch a bunch of
music videos for research for this What is your favorite?
It could be a collab, but it could be in
a music video collab, like what's just kind of your
(01:09:30):
favorite collab? Or music video like off the top of
your head in country music? I know. Okay, Eddie switched
the screen now so I can see myself and it's
very uncomfortable. My favorite music video of all time, which
I have a fun fact about this that I've learned recently.
It's the reason I really got into music and wanted
to work. And it's a very sad one but it's
(01:09:50):
Martina mcbrad Concrete Angel. Oh, such a sad music video.
But I remember being in fourth or fifth grade. We
were helping the puter teacher like clean all the computers,
and the TV was on and it was Han cmt
r GAC. Not sure why we're watching music videos while
we're doing that, but that song came on and that's
the first time I really like paid attention to a song,
(01:10:13):
and so that's what sparked my love for music. And
this was before YouTube or anything, so I couldn't go
home and just look for this music video. So I'd
sit at home and watch GAC or CMT waiting for
this music video to come on, and then I just
started discovering all these other songs and artists. So that's
really how my love of country music came about, was
(01:10:33):
through that music video. So it'll all these be one
of my favorites. My fun fact, our best friend Jody
Yes lived in the house that video was shot in
in Congret Angel's video. Yes, I did not know that
that was her childhood home. No, she lived it here
in Nashville when like as an adult. Yes, when she
first moved to Nashville. That was one of her first
(01:10:54):
houses she lived in. I did not I know me
and her when she got into it. Did they tell her?
I think her roommate did somebody told her the house
this is the house. And I mean me and Jody
have been friends for three years now, maybe yeah, like
three years. She just told me this a few months ago.
You were because Martina is your girl, she's my faith
(01:11:16):
like I just love her. But yeah, I was like,
how have you never told me this before? She because
I didn't know you were interested in that, Like, you know,
she's my favorite artist. We've talked about this before, and
she just casually mentioned because we were in that area
of town it's I think Sylvan Park area, and she said, yeah,
I lived in that house that the music video was
shot in. That's crazy, mind blowing. Yeah, so ask her
(01:11:38):
about that next. I will. I will for sure, And
I love that. I love that your girl is from
my home state, Kansas. I know, so I kind of
always secretly loved Kansas when I was younger because of
Martina McBride. You still haven't visited, but I want to
go one day. We'll figure that out someday, Yes, and
go for a visit. Okay. Well, I love that we
(01:11:59):
went on this random, crazy tangent talking about all these
fun things, and now to get back to it, y'all.
Can hear the whole reason we talked about chasing our
dreams and doing fun dream chasing is because Lunchbox is
chasing his dream of acting, and he's taking acting classes
and he gave us a few of his scenes, and
you decide how well he's doing in that class Number three, Lunchbox,
(01:12:20):
he's still paying for acting classes. Yeah, still doing my acting,
still doing the virtual online things. We haven't got together
in person. Yet, and I feel like I'm coming into
my own when you get together in person. Will that
be in town or they live in Hollywood? No, No,
it should be in town. Yeah, I mean I found
it online, so I mean I assumed they're in town.
How much do you pay for this? It was I
(01:12:40):
think it was like six hundred bucks for three months
or four months something like. Wow, it's a lot. And
so your goal at the end of this class is
too blank. Hopefully my acting skills have improved enough that
I move up a level in their classes and maybe
it gets me some roles, you know, maybe small time
roles on TV commercials, and then I worked my way
(01:13:02):
up to the big screen the movies, you know, like movies. Yeah,
we got it now, we weren't hearing out what big
screen meant. It's like, wow, good for you. Yeah, So
Lunchbox started taking these classes during the pandemic and he's
continuing with the course. But if you move up, do
you have to pay again for the second course? Yeah? Yeah,
well yeah you have to pay. I mean, it's not
they're not just gonna give to you for free because
you're a good actor. Well you paid better way If
(01:13:24):
you don't pass you pay again to retake the course.
I think I have to go. I have to start
in the beginner level again. Dang, which is sad. So
what do we have here? This is a clip of
what Show How I met your mother? And and you
are who I am? Well, I'm Ted Mosby is an
older guy, So I'm really Bob Saget. I'm the voice guy. Oh,
you're the guy who comes on. It's like, so you
know kids back when he's talking to his kids. Yes,
he's talking to his kids, and so you're Ted Mosby,
(01:13:46):
but it's Bob Saget and so Amy, why did you snicker?
Because just this, I can't wait to hear her like
I don't know, I just know how well we listened
to last time. I would like to hear the Bob
Saget clip first. Yeah, here we go. I found out
years later that your mom was at that party. I
just didn't meet her. And it's a good thing I
didn't because if I had met her, I don't think
(01:14:08):
she would have liked me. Heck, I don't think I
liked me. But that's okay. Tomorrow I had a rod okay,
and you're doing that. That's what I do get ready, guy,
here I go Lunchbox doing the voice of Bob Saget.
I found out years later that your mom was at
that party. I just didn't meet her, and it's a
good thing that I didn't, because if I had met her,
I don't think she would have liked me. Heck, I
(01:14:30):
don't think I liked me. But that's okay. Tomorrow had arrived. Huh, Hey,
how good? Was that? Sounded pretty good? Ye see Amy
snicker before then she's like that, Okay, that sounded like
story time like for the kids, that's what it is.
Sounded a little reedy. Yeah, it's pretty good. It wasn't horrible.
That line is serious. That line is kind of touched.
(01:14:52):
Play lunchbox again. I found out years later that your
mom was at that party. I just didn't meet her,
and it's a good thing that I didn't because if
I had met her, I don't think she would have
liked me. Heck, I don't think I liked me, But
that's okay. Tomorrow had arrived. Pretty good. I think there's
a probably a little texture, a little feel in that,
but I feel think it's pretty good. Yeah, I get
(01:15:13):
better hearing it back, like I should have been more emotional. Yeah,
now that I hear at the second time, I'm like, man,
I didn't hit the emotion part enough. Still pretty good.
We have another clip. This is a clip two Ray,
what's this clip? We know its second clip. I mean
it's just it's from the episode No More. Okay, So
I've never seen how I make your Mother's not just
one scene. Here we go. So Lillian Marshall decided to
(01:15:35):
make the best of a bad situation. And that's also
how the sport of apartment roller louge was invented. You see,
I didn't know it yet, but my luck was about
to change. That's pretty good. Yeah, that was better than
the first One's narrating, I mean, yeah, yeah, someone it
(01:15:55):
just sounds like he's reading though, you know what I mean. Yeah,
I am going to choose to acknowledge that you are improving.
I would like to say that too. And he's not
like yelling it, because sometimes when he reads something or
he does everything, he yells right there, Yeah he's doing
you know, even a commercial. I feel like he's just
sometimes yeah, I feel as though he's like getting into character.
(01:16:20):
I would like to acknowledge the growth that I have
seen from you. It feels good. That feels good. Would
you like to acknowledge I would like to be real
with you and say you have a lot of work
to do. I'm just being your friend and saying you
work a little harder. You're getting there, but work a
little harder getting there. I like that you're getting there. Yeah,
And he starts with believing in yourself in a wise
band one said don't stop believing. Yeah. Actually like this said,
(01:16:42):
don't stop believe you can get on the bitch screen.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
This was a really fun moment on this show this week.
It's always fun when we bring out the spinning wheel
for most people, it's always not fun for one person.
(01:17:04):
And that one person has been me lately. Yes, don't
ask me why the wheel hates me. I don't keep
spending on me. But so this week I had to
eat watermelon mustard, watermelon mustard, watermelon mustard, watermelon mustard, Hi
watermelon must mustard on watermelon. It was based off a
(01:17:27):
TikTok tren that was happening, and honestly it was really
really good. But I love weird food combinations. Hill. Do
you have any like crazy food combinations, combinations, combinations. Wow,
I can't say that word anymore. Food combinations that you
think like some people should try. Well, the one that
I can think of. We would always go to this
one restaurant when we were younger. I don't think it's
(01:17:49):
really everywhere, but it's called Sunnies. It's a barbecue place
back home, and I would always get crackers and put
ketchup on it, so cracks just like a good old
ritz cracker, cracker with ketchup, with ketchup. Yes, do you
still do that now? Yeah? I would. If I go
back to Sunny's or if I go somewhere and you
(01:18:10):
know how they can they'll offer you free crackers. Like
at the beginning of a meal. They always offer me
free bread. I've never got free crackers. Well, at this
particular place, we got free crackers. So if I have
never been anywhere in my life but they offered free crackers. Oh,
it's always been like free bread, chipsum salsa, never had crackers. Yeah,
(01:18:30):
you could get free crackers at Sunny's. And so I
would take my crackers out of the pack I would
get and it was a very specific routine. I would
spread out a napkin, and I would get my crackers
and I would line them all up, and then I
would get my ketchup and just do one little stripe
on them and eat them. Everybody thought it was so disgusting,
who would eat with me? But it's really delicious. So
(01:18:52):
I highly recommend trying ketch up with crackers. Oh, he'll
I like a lot of things. No, I think you'd
like it, and I do like both of them. Like
the key to weird food combinations and liking them is
liking both of the things. If you like one and
don't like the other, then of course you're not gonna
like it, true. But if you like them each individually, yes,
you'll end up liking them. And I like watermelon and mustard,
(01:19:13):
so that's why I ended up liking it. I think
you'll like the cracker and ketchup. I like both of
them on their own. Yeah. I got every other weird one,
weird ones. Nutella with cheese, its m M. Your face
is like, no, we'll see, I'm not is it ntella
or nutella? I say nutella? I don't know how to pronounce.
I say, I don't like it. You don't like it,
(01:19:37):
you don't like, but you like chocolate, you don't like chocolate,
but I just don't like that, maybe because it's more
hazel nut. Maybe, I mean it's technically a chocolate hazel
nut spread though it Well, if you're a sweet and
salty person and you like calm, like I love trail
mix because I can do a peanut and a raisin
(01:20:00):
and eminem, I'll eat it all. They need to invent
trail mix. They do about the raising. Many different trail
mixes they have now, Yeah, but it's hard to find.
There's a lot. If you have a target, there's a
crap done. There is did I just want? I can?
I can just make my own. I guess I don't
need to be peanuts and I'm just gonna get peanuts.
But yes, Or if you've oh, Eminem's and popcorn, heat
(01:20:22):
up popcorn very delicious. Put on Eminem's right after melt
Eminem's so good. Love chocolate covered popcorn, chocolate covered strawberries.
One of my faves. That's a google covered pretzels. I
do love those. Yogurt covered pretzels are good too, Those
are really good. Um, I'm trying to think of all
the crazy things that I eat because I thought it
was a lot. I'm trying to think of what would
be crazy. This isn't a food combination, but I like
(01:20:43):
to eat shredded cheese by the bag. Oh I'll do that,
Like I'll just eat shredded cheese instead of like cutting
something enough. So do you get a block of cheese
and shredded yourself or just like the shredded, like the
shredded from the bag, and then I'll put it in
a bowl and I'll just sit and eat the bowl
of state. I mean sounds like something I would do too.
We both love cheese. One thing about me and Morgan.
(01:21:04):
We love cheese and crackers. I went to her house
the other night and I was like, hey, I'm bringing
my food with me. I get there and I have
a big old like tub of cheese and crackers with me,
and then she pulls out her cheese and crackers. We
love a God's always a good meal for me. Yes,
this isn't a weird one, but something people probably wouldn't
put together with cheese is fig butter Trader Joe's Big butter.
(01:21:27):
That is your face with manchego cheese and a cracker,
and it is bomb. It's like a little jam sandwich
without making all the sandwich. It's good. Yeah, that's a
good one. I don't think I have any others. I know,
I can't think of anything else weird that I would eat.
I'm trying to think because I'm a very picky eater,
(01:21:48):
so I don't really try a lot of stuff. Yeah,
you're between the two of us, which is saying something
you are the picky eater. Yeah, I am. So there's
really not a lot that I'm gonna try, and if
it's too weird, I'm not going to eat it. So
that's why I don't think I have anything else. Just
my crackers and ketchup, which I don't know why I
(01:22:09):
started that. Y'all. Try the crackers and ketchup, let me
know how that is, and then nutella and choose it. Yeah,
and definitely popcorn and eminems if you have a movie
night coming up. I'm telling you it is gold. That's
a very very good comments. I want it right now.
Did you ever get them? Do you remember snow caps?
The candy? Oh? It was? They taste like root beer.
(01:22:31):
Root beer. I hate root beer, and I don't think
they taste like root beer. That tasted like root beer. No, No,
it's a chocolate morsel with white sprinkles on it. Oh yeah,
not the same can. No, definitely not root beer. I
don't know what you're talking about. I was thinking it
looks like it kind of looks like sweetearts, but they're
different flavors, and one of them's root. It was bottle caps.
(01:22:52):
Bottle caps is what it was called. I was gonna
see caps and caps. Yeah, snow caps are chocolate. What
is the little white things on it? Sprinkles? Is that
what you would get when you go to the movie
theater because I think they had those. They're fun fact
about my family, my mom. I think I've mentioned this before.
She will not go anywhere if she doesn't have a
coupon or anything. So we were not buying snacks at
(01:23:12):
the movie theater because they were so expensive. So we
would get that at like the Dollars store and bring
it or something. Yeah. I would always sneak food in.
I don't know why, I said, like, would I still
do that to this day? Oh? I still do that,
and I still buying something too, So I'm doing both. Really,
I just can't get over the prices. So no, I'm
not going to but my mom when we when we
were younger and we'd have movie nights, she would let
(01:23:34):
us alf pick out a snack, and so snow caps
were usual. Was one of mine, my go toos. And
then I'd switch it up every now and then and
do something like I can't think if anything else, I
would do snow caps from my go too. Oh they
had the cookie dough bites. Do you remember that? I
love the cookieto bites? Those who are another one of
my mat And a bunch of runch Yes, I love
a bunch of runs. Did you ever have to go
(01:23:55):
back to the movies? I don't think we may be
too I'm young, but I know him too. I haven't
had lunchet. My sister used to be obsessed with these
butterfinger babies. Oh did you ever have those? Are they
making them? No, it's something different. I'm trying to think
what it is because I think I was too young
to remember them. But those are my sister's favorite candy
(01:24:17):
and they stopped making them. Oh, this is a good one.
What is a speaking of nostalgia, because that's obviously something
that would be a nostalgia for your sister. What's a
nostalgia food? Oh food. I just feel like, and I
know this is very generic, but barbecue because every time
(01:24:38):
I smell barbecue or drive by a barbecue place, I
always think of my family and going there after softball games.
My sisters both played softball. My dad was the coach,
so I've been around softball literally my entire life. And
after every game, we'd go to Sunny's, my ketchup and
cracker place, and we would eat barbecue. I feel like
(01:25:00):
that's kind of my my food every time my seat
or smell it. And a Crystals because we'd always pass
by a Crystals to go to the ball field so
many times I would see that or smell that I
always think of. So yours is more about smells, the smell,
the tim's taste. Yeah, okay, I mean mine's mines are
related to softball too. I mean every time I would play,
(01:25:21):
this is how it would go. I would get a
ranch sunflower seeds in a blue gatorade before the game
to have during the game. After, I would get a
laffy taffy stick and um the gum, the baseball gum. Yes,
big chew, Yes, I remember big Chew. I would bring
my quarters to the game to get double bubble, oh yeah,
(01:25:42):
or a sucker like just like the concession stick. Okay,
now that we're discussing this, Yes, like a hot dog
at a concession stand, or nachos. Oh, I always got
cheese boiled peanuts. Oh, cheese fries. Those are good. Peanuts
are good too. But anytime I level nuts, but anytime
I get ball field food, I always think of being
(01:26:05):
at the ball field watching my sisters play off ball.
So there's a ball field behind my house, okay, in
the little park, and they have a concession stand, and
I obviously don't have We should go? Am I allowed
to go to the concession concession stand? Because I really
miss concession stands. No, you and not like not like
(01:26:25):
a professional game concession stand. I mean like the the
mom and pop baseball fields concession stand, go to Sam's
buy all the candy, that type of concessions where they
like load up on all the stuff. No, I will,
Now that I have a dog, what we're gonna do
is walk our dogs and be like, oh, there's a
concession stand. I don't even know what in there. All
(01:26:46):
I know is that I've seen a funnel cake before,
a funnel cakesion. I'm telling you it's in this a
little like hut thing and it's always closed when I'm
we didn't have these fancy things that my sister's games
at funnel Cake, but it's it's but I've got ball field,
so I assume some of the stuff that we're talking about,
we should definitely go. I want to know what everybody's is.
If if you're listening to this, hit us up on
Instagram and the DMS or on Twitter, ors on the
(01:27:08):
indalas your favorite like snacks from concession stands, because there
are some really good ones. Oh. We used to make
us tell when I'm hungry because I make everything. I know.
We talk about food a lot. Um. They used to
make it the basketball court. I can't think of my words. Um,
they'd make cookies and sell cookies, so I would again.
(01:27:31):
I'd bring my little quarters or something and come up
and you get two cookies hot now cookies. Oh yes,
there's just all all kinds. I love concessions to and
food and if you stayed after because my dad was
a coach, my sister's played so we would stay after
and if they had leftovers, you could get them for free.
See and I love, I love this is what I
love about food is that it's a connection to every
(01:27:52):
part in your life. Because just telling you saying that
reminding me of different things. So obviously we're talking about
the nostalgia ball fields and concessions stands. I remember in
high school we could get cookies and you'd get to
like for fifty cents, and they were so good and
you'd always want to have them. Everybody was eating them.
I relate that to high school. In college, I lived
in the sorority house and we always had a taco
(01:28:13):
bar or a soup bar, and I relate like all
of these different food scenarios to like my best memories
in life. Yeah, And I think that's what's really cool,
is like food doesn't just connect people and it doesn't
just like everybody have different opinions about it. But it
also like just brings you back to a place in
a memory. Yeah, it really does, and just like a
certain place in your life, like a time. And we're
(01:28:34):
both very close with our families, which we sadly don't
live near them, so I feel like having those little
moments it really brings us back and it just kind
of provides a little bit of comfort. That's why I
really want to go this concession stand with you because
it provides some like a little comfort like piece of home. Yeah,
and I do think this made another girls night food thing,
(01:28:56):
nostalgia foods. Love it. Let's do it our party. Somebody
decides to have like a little house party, do nostalgia foods.
That would be a fun birthday party. I know, I
come up with crazy idea sometimes. Okay, I like this,
let's do it. Okay, Well, we're gonna go to this
concession stand maybe soon, maybe tonight. You never know what
we're gonna do. Never mind out tonight. Technically we are
headed to a wedding this weekend, so when we get
(01:29:17):
back from the wedding, when we get back from the wedding, Okay, well,
listen to this little fun spin the wheel where you know,
I eat some mustard on watermelon and I actually like it,
and then other people on the show might try it.
To number two, there's that trend on TikTok where if
you put mustard on top of a watermelon, it's supposedly
really good and people haven't done this right, They're like,
(01:29:37):
you should do it. It's brand new. Here is the
video Watermelon and yellow Mustard. Trust me on this. It
is so good. Grab yourself a juicy watermelon. Cut that
baby up juicy, Get yourself some frenches yellow mustard that
has to be Frenches poured that sucker on and cheers.
It's so tangy, it's so vinegree and matches so well
(01:30:00):
with the watermelon. Sweet. Trust me, this is so good.
He's trying to sell it too much. Frenches. So I
have the wheel here, Oh there it is. We'll spin it.
And there's a whole. You have to eat the whole
piece over there. Oh god, they're all cut into squares.
You eat the whole, the whole square. Okay, okay, So
if it lands on your name, you lose. That's it.
(01:30:22):
Oh no, if it lands on your name, you eat mustard. Mustard.
Here we go, let's spine. There's not mustard. Not like us,
there's not mustard. Come on, is it lands? Lose? The
(01:30:43):
other one being good? She said, it's like a the Durian. Yeah,
the world stinkiest fruit. Yeah, all right, Morgan, if you'll
walk up to that microphone, he promised it was good
in that clip, he said, And we got Frenches mustard.
It has to be frenches. Yeah, one big square. Oh
that looks disgusting. She's picking one up. I'll eat the
(01:31:06):
big one. There she is, go for it. It's all
the way in her mouth. Oh juicy, Like you said,
she's chewing it. She's she's about to lay it down. Oh,
it's truly. Let me try it, because Sidney I didn't mind,
but she didn't lose the spin. But this was the
only one that I didn't mind if it landed on me,
(01:31:27):
and it didn't land on me. Yeah. It has a
perfect mixture of like the tangy and the sweet, like
you said, like it goes really oddly well together. Maybe
the guy's telling truth. He didn't sound that believable. Okay,
it's good. Huh yeah. A lot of mustard on that one,
you like. It's very good. Actually, I love mustard like watermelon.
(01:31:49):
It works. Huh yeah. It tastes like it's sweet and salty,
and then it has like the kick of the little
twin tang tan. It's very good. I guess I'll try
one a little bit. See that everything's alive. Yeah, alright, TikTok.
You gotta walk it around, well, then come on, give
me one. So I don't like mustard, I mean I
(01:32:09):
don't like mustard either of it. I'm intrigued. Thank you, guys,
go ahead, this is not bad. Yeah, Like it's almost
like you taste the mustard, there's gonna be too much,
but then the watermelon just cancels that mustard out. It's delicious.
Amy put a hole Ryan in her mouth too, So
I think we've all settled that it is actually pretty good. Amy.
(01:32:31):
I feel like a restaurant could add that to like
their appetizer made and charge a lot of money and
be like this this delicacy. All right, there we have Okay,
it wasn't that gross. It's pretty good. It's pretty good.
Watermelon mustard, watermelon mustard, watermelon mustard, watermelon mustard, watermelon mustard.
(01:32:53):
It's the best bits of the week. With Morgan number
two coming in hot number one, everybody was so excited
to have three doors down on the show this week.
It was Aladin nostalgia for people on the show. For me,
I remember quite a few of their songs that I
didn't even know I had in my brain somewhere, and
(01:33:14):
the interview was really cool. But we've been talking a
lot about nostalgia, and I also want to know what
artist brings back the most, like nostalgia for you, I
feel like I have two, but the main one for
me that will get me emotional is Alan Jackson because
that's what I grew up listening to with my dad.
(01:33:34):
Like I remember the days riding around in his truck.
We still do this, riding around in his truck with
Alan Jackson playing. And like Alan, my dad he has
three daughters, and Alan has three daughters. Alan's dad passed away.
He's at drive song my dad's dad passed away. Like
there's just similarities, and Alan writes about a lot of
that in his music. So it's just so relatable to
(01:33:56):
my dad and to me, and I just relate so
much of my childhood, Like when I'm thinking about childhood memories,
Alan Jackson is always around, Like we'd listen to him
on the way to ball games and anytime he was
in town. I would take my dad to the show.
And it's really cool. That's been one of the most
awesome things about my job is getting to take my
(01:34:16):
dad to do stuff like that. So getting tickets to
see Alan Jackson and it's just it's so sweet, ring
a smile to my face now. But I remember watching
him on stage and like tears were in my eyes
when he would sing drive. It was the sweetest moment.
I don't even know if my dad remembers doing this,
but he put his arm around me like when that
song I'm Drive playing, I know. And then when I
(01:34:38):
moved to Nashville. I don't know if I've ever told
this story before. When I moved to Nashville, my dad
texted me and he was like, Hey, I have a
song I want you to listen to. It's by Alan
Jackson and I believe it's called you Can Always Come Home.
And I waited a few days to listen to it,
and my dad texts me, Hey, did you listen to
that song yet? And I was like, oh, no, like
(01:35:00):
need to you know, I'll listen to it now. I'm
driving down the Interstate. I put the song on. I'm
not kidding you. I was full on bawling my eyes
out because Alan wrote it to his daughter's about you know,
go out and chase your dreams, but just know you
can always come back home if things don't work out,
and it is just like it makes me want to
cry it out. It is one of the sweetest songs,
(01:35:21):
and it was just so sweet and I know that
because my dad's not a huge talker like he can be,
but it's not like he's a super emotional person. So
I feel like he kind of tells his stuff through music.
So like with Alan songs like that, he'll be like, hey,
listen to this, and that's how my dad feels about us.
And it's just I don't know when. Every time I
(01:35:43):
think about Alan Jackson, always think about my dad. I
love that though, because then I feel like, two, it
came come full circle, like at a wedding one day,
you're probably gonna dance to an Alan Jackson song. Yes, yeah,
it's one of the contenders. And he released that new
album and he has the two songs on there that
he wrote for his daughters, and I remember hearing those
and I just started crying. I'm like, this is so sweet.
(01:36:05):
Anytime there's a father daughter song, I get so emotional.
I don't know why, but I'm just I'm so emotional
about father daughter songs. They're so sweet. So that will
be a contender. And then I have a Carrie Underwood song,
like I already know there's like two out too. I'm
in between two songs for a father daughter dance, But yeah,
I love that definitely, Alic Okay, so Alan Jackson. Then
(01:36:27):
you said there was another one. Oh, I will say
Taylor Swift because she came out when I was probably
thirteen or fourteen, and I remember always listening to her,
like sitting on my floor in my room, having her
you know, albums in my little CD player and listening
to her songs. And I remember where I was when
(01:36:49):
I first listened to her song Tim McGraw, where I
heard that, and then I went out and bought the album.
And every time she had a new album come out,
my mom would drive me to the store to go
pick up the album. She would do that with me
or with her Carrie Ono and Martin McBride. Those are
my three like when an album comes out and going
day of But when she re released the new album,
(01:37:12):
it just brought back so many memories. I even had
a party for it, because I know, like to some people,
they may not like her, or they may have thought
the party was ridiculous or a little over the top,
But for me, it brought me back to a place
in my life where her music meant so much to
me and helped me get through so much Like I
had some struggles in high school, and I would always
(01:37:33):
say Taylor's my friend because that's who is there for me.
I would go and listen to her albums and it
was a comfort thing for me. Her music was because
I felt like somebody else out there gets it and
relates to me, and that music just always takes me back.
When I was listening to the new album she released,
the rerelease, it took me back to sitting on my
bedroom floor at home, like fifteen years old, just listening
(01:37:58):
to her album and now being twenty eight hearing these
songs and me being in Nashville and me, you know,
growing up and getting through those things that I was
going through at the time. It just really brings a
lot back. And so her music will always be special
to me because of that. She helped me through a
(01:38:18):
lot of childhood things. When you don't let anybody give
you any grap for that, because the way that you
connect through music is just a way that people can
get through life, through difficult things, happy things like Yeah,
music is another one of those things that just connects
people in a different way, and you connected to two
things very real and like, don't ever let anybody take
(01:38:38):
that away from you because that's special and that's a
cool thing that you will have for the rest of
your life and that will tie it to other memories
that matter to you. Yeah, and I've never met Alan
or Taylor, and those are two people who I mean,
it would be super cool to meet them. And I
know they hear this all the time, but the one
thing I just want to tell them is thank you.
(01:38:58):
Thank you for all these meries. Like Alan, with my dad,
you like helped bring all these memories and me and
my dad have all these things like going to your
shows and driving in the truck together singing these songs,
and you know, there's just a lot of memories attached that.
And same with Taylor. And I know they hear that
all the time from fans, but it really does mean
a lot to me because there's so many memories behind
(01:39:20):
both of those artists and their songs. Well, and I
don't I'm you know, I'm not an artist, but we
have enough come in here that I feel like I
don't think they ever get tired of hearing that though,
because it just it means what they're doing matters, and
it does, it really does. I mean, we get to
see how much heart that they put into their music
and their projects, and knowing that people actually really appreciate.
(01:39:43):
It's not just you know, putting your CD in an
album and just casually listening to it, like really connecting
with them and them helping you get through things. It's
just it really does mean a lot. And that's why
I love music so much. I love that, love that
a lot. What about you? No, Now I'm all emotional.
I know, I'm like, go to you. Um. I mean
(01:40:05):
I think like a lot of my memories are tied
to songs and stuff. I um, but like Brooks and
Dunne and Reba remind me of my parents. They love
to two step. My dad has always jammed to both
of those in his car. Yeah. There isn't like a
nineties country music person that I couldn't connect to my childhood.
I mean, my parents is all they listened to. Yeah,
(01:40:25):
and they taught me to love country music. They taught
me to two step. I mean just everything about it.
That whole genre of country is what I connect to
my childhood. But I mean just different song connections like gosh,
and I don't I won't even remember the song titles.
I just remember like different lyrics. But the Chick CD
I had on blast whenever I had my CD player
(01:40:48):
in my car and I was singing to my car
in my bedroom and I was singing to my stuffed
animals that I would leave on a row and I'd
act like I was a superstar. The Chick songs, or
should I twin songs, it's about two like CDs I
had on repeat. And then there's a Shania Twayne I
think it's called either Rock. Yeah, it's rock this country,
and I loved it. I would sing it on repeat
(01:41:10):
again to my animals. It was another song that just
triggers a lot. I think there's photos of me doing
this too, which which is not the thing I ever
wanted to see the light of day. But Alan Jackson
had a moment for me too because of his nine
to eleventh song, because I very vividly remember that moment
in time and that song coming out shortly after. If
you were a fan of country music at all, you
(01:41:31):
heard that song. Yeah, And I don't know, just there
isn't like I wish I could pinpoint it to one,
but I just they had on repeat every single artist
in nineties country playing in the car, playing at home,
we didn't know anything different. I mean, I didn't listen
to anything different until I was probably in high school.
(01:41:53):
Same like, all we had on in the car was
if it was with my mom, it was a Disney
album soundtrack, or when I'm with my dad it was country,
and that's what we grew up on. But I think
one of the coolest moments for me and I so
wish you would have been there, was it Bobby's Million
Dollars Show. I got to sit by Morgan's parents and
Brooks and Dunn played, and Morgan's dad like I just
(01:42:17):
knew he was loving he was loving life, and it
was just so sweet because you know, we get to
be around these people a lot, and we get to
go to all these concerts and whenever our parents we
get to take them to do stuff like that and
see those artists that they know not made us listen to,
but that we would listen to with them. It's just
(01:42:38):
such a cool moment to sit there with them and
Brooks and Dunn's on stage or Alan Jackson's on stage,
and it just takes you back to that moment where
we were sitting in your truck when I was a
little girl listening to this song and now we're here
as an adult, we're living our dreams here in nashvillehere
we always wanted to be, and we're watching these people
(01:42:58):
and it's just such a moment. So I loved being
able to sit with your parents for that, and I
knew your dad was just like loving life. And our
friend Jody, she was sitting with me and her parents
are huge Brooks and Dunns fans, and so she was
taking a video and sending it to her mom. She's like,
my mom would freak out her she was here right now.
And so it's just so cool how music. You know,
(01:43:20):
it's just such a part of our childhood with our parents,
and then it all comes back. It is. It's never
lost on me the cool things that we get to do.
And I love when I get to bring my family
into it. Same. I've had some really like that was
a really big one that I wanted my dad to experience.
They were coming in town for my lefs like surgery.
I was like, it's perfect timing Brooks and Dunner at
(01:43:40):
the Million Dollars show, and I had known it ahead
of time, and I was like, this, you guys have
to be at this show. I'm not going to tell
you why. I'm just gonna say, you need to be
at this show. And so when they were there, I think,
like I got to give that to them through all
the things that they've given me. And then my mom,
who is a huge Keith Urban fan, she got to
meet Keith Urban at our iHeart Country Festival. And then
(01:44:04):
another time my mom was in town, we were at
the Grandell Opry and she also loves Coole Swindell and
he was playing and he at the time, I wasn't
a part of the show for longer than a few months.
He had no idea who I was. And he saw
my mom just really excited, and I was trying to
kind of make her keep her chill because it's weird.
It's a weird combination of things. And he saw it
and he came over and he took a picture and
(01:44:24):
like it was like one of her favorite memories. So
I think getting to like give them back through everything
that they've given us feels so cool. It it really does.
It's like because they've given us so much, and I
know I'll never be able to repay my parents, yes,
for everything they've done for me and continue to do
(01:44:45):
for me, like my mom's she's flying in to watch
my dog for me this weekend, Like she's literally just
coming to watch my dog. Like our parents do so
much for us, and this is our you know, little
way of giving back to them. And it's just it's
so cool. I mean, some people, like artists, may not
think it it's that much, but to us it just
means everything that we're even able to do that. And
(01:45:08):
mentioning Cole, I know we get asked all the time,
like who we're the nicest people he is, Like he's
he's so nice. He's one of the artists who when
I first started here and I was sitting in the classroom,
most people don't come in there because we're just you know,
behind the scenes people. But he made sure to come
in and speak to all of us and see how
we were doing. And I know he's mentioned that too before.
(01:45:30):
He's mentioned it to all of us. If we ever
want to come to a show, if our families ever
want to come to a show, we don't have to
be there, but if our families ever want to to,
please let him know. And he genuinely means that, And
I remember you telling me that story backstage with your
mom and for him to he will, he will go
out of his way to make a fan happy and
just to say hi. So he's definitely wants present. And
(01:45:52):
I don't say that Lilas and never say that, but
a great human he is, and he really how you
see him, he really does care about his fans. That
is one art A lot of artists do, I will say,
but he genuinely cares about his fans and like radio
and people who've really helped him, and he's just very
grateful for it. Like anytime he comes in, it's always
(01:46:15):
just very pleasant. He's always so narrows down to earth
as the best Priory describe him very down to earth.
So he's definitely one of the most down to earth artists.
But I wanted to add that in there because people
always ask us about artists who come in and stuff
like that, so that's just a little random to all great.
I mean, they really all are great, but he's a
solid one for sure. He's definitely one of the top
nicest ones. Well, you guys are getting to hear another
(01:46:37):
really nice group that came in, and this is a
rock star group and a really kind of cool moment
for some people on the show, meeting somebody that they
listened to their whole lives. Are celebrating a twentieth anniversary tour,
so three doors down they came in, performed a lot
of their songs, talked about so many stories, and it
was just a really good time. So definitely listen to
(01:46:57):
this interview, watch it at Bobby Bones dot com, see
their performance all the things. It's so worth it. Number
one the Friday Morning Conversation with I'm a big fan
of these guys. You guys good, Yes are good, because
I'm good. You have so many number one songs and
we're gonna get to some music in a second. But Brad,
whence the last time you guys actually played for people
(01:47:18):
in a room. It has been quite a while since
we played for some people in a room like this,
and uh, it's it's it's always been a little bit
different to do it, but uh, it's actually it's really
cool to be sitting here doing it because it's fresh
and it's been so long since we've done it. That's
I'm kind of looking forward to it. But I was,
I was honestly nervous this morning when I got up
to come in. Why would you get You and I
(01:47:38):
know each other at this point too, so it's not
like we're meeting for the first time. But why would
you bean? Is it because you haven't sang in a while?
It's because we haven't sang in a year. And it's
probably the biggest radio show in the Conte No pressure, listen.
I'm just such a big fan and so, um, you
know you guys all coming in together. This means the world.
So thank you guys for waking up early and singing,
(01:47:59):
because I know, as a famous rock band you don't
want to wake up early in the morning, and you
know it's early in the morning, so I appreciate that.
So where do we start? Um, you guys? The record
has been out now what twenty years years? And I
did see that you guys were gonna play you know,
the Better Life all the way through from track one
to track How many tracks are on that record? I
think eleven, I believe so. But track one is kryptonite.
(01:48:22):
And do you start off with the big song? I
think we're going to dang. The crowd's gonna be like,
all right, we're ready to get warmed at whoa, this
is the big one. It's gonna be you know, it's
it's a little bit different, but we've done it every year.
We you know, we have a Better Life foundation and
every year we play a show for that. And we
actually tried this out of doing the record and we're
done away from the song, right, and so we just
(01:48:42):
started that record, which you know, it has Here Without You,
which is another one of our big songs, and it's
like put that song on, like the fourth fits on
the set. But it was just so cool and it
was kind of inspired by several years ago we went
out on tour with Aerosmith and they and it wasn't
like a like a anniversual for the record or anything,
but they came out and they played their hits and all,
(01:49:02):
but they played the entire record of Toys in the attic.
It was so awesome and it was just it's just
we've done it the Better Life that year and it
was just so fun to do that. It would be
fun to do this year. I think, let me hear
a clup Braymond up Here without You. But I big
was this song for you guys Here Without You? Because
(01:49:23):
I heard it. I heard it and played it on
the radio. It felt like every five minutes. It was
a monster. That was a big song. And then it
was a really important song for us too, because you know,
after the success of the Better Life record, which was
I mean, by the grace of God, it had it
had four hits on it, which was really a blessing too,
because you know, if it if we would have only
had Kryptonite, that would have been it, you know obviously,
but if it's really hard to kind of follow up
(01:49:45):
a song like that and then to follow up a record,
and so here without you and when I'm going off
the off the second record really were important for kind
of like launching us and kind of for lack of
a better way of putting just cruise control in a way.
You know, whenever I think two or three years ago,
we do a big charity show, Eddie and I do
the Raging Idiots million dollars show, and I was like, dang,
you know, it would be awesome. Brow would come out
(01:50:06):
and seeing Kryptonite, we'd play it. And then I was
nervous when you showed out because I was like, oh,
because we're doing like the background vocals, we're playing the guitar,
and we come out and it was we played at
the rhyme and and it was really one of the
highlights of what we've been able to do. So so
that's where we met the first time. I think it
is it is man. I had fun that night too.
I was nervous too. And then he wrote a check
and then he's like, and then I want to give
(01:50:26):
you ten thousand dollars and I spent I bought a
new jacket. That's awesome gas. Yeah, yeah, Um, would you
guys mind, because we're gonna talk and play music both.
Do you feel like you're warm enough? Can you guys vocals? Warm?
You're good? I think so pretty good. Can we hear
a little verse and chorus of Kryptonite? Like we go
to the show, it's the first song. The crowd, we're
all there, we're all naked. Here's three doors down and Kryptonite?
(01:50:56):
Lots of walk around the world. Two weeks troubled mind.
I love my body lying somewhere in the same time.
Now watch the world, folks to the dark side of
the mountain. But I feel there's nothing I can do
by I watch World, thus the dark side of the moon.
(01:51:31):
After all, I knew it had to be something, do it.
I really don't mind what happens now? And then a
song as you be a friend at the end, if
I go crazy, and then you used to come be
super man. If I'm loving well, I hold in my
(01:51:55):
hand by my side of my super banking. Come on, man,
that's great, That's awesome. Man. How does that feel to
sing again with people watching clapping? It feels good? Yea
feels too. We like to clap sitting here trying not
(01:52:17):
to swit. How that that song if if I'm familiar here,
like that song kind of became a hit locally first
and kind of spread that way. It did, it did
man um it Our local radio station down in Biloxi,
Mississippi played the song for us and um after just
after playing locally and like like I said, and begging
them to play the song and going on the radio
(01:52:38):
station and playing on the local on the local show
that they had once a month there, and it just
really kind of happened to us like a story, you know.
And I and we were naive when it was all happening,
and we didn't realize that that's not how it had
really happened, you know, So it really kind of happened
to us like it happens on TV, you know. And
by the grace of God, it all came together, men,
and it was it just made makes a really good
(01:53:00):
story more so than than how it actually comes together
sometimes and and uh, we're just really thankful to be
I have all been a part of it. The tourist announced,
you guys can get tickets at three doors down dot com.
I mean you're everywhere. I was gonna read some cities,
but you have like one hundred and fifty million cities
here everywhere. You're going back on the road. Is that
exciting to go do band full band shows? I cannot wait, man,
(01:53:20):
I cannot wait a long time. Brad, How how did
the band say together? How's this still happening? You know? Man?
We just uh, our fans. Our fans have been so
good to us, and they have encouraged us a long way.
God's been good to us. He's kept us kept us going.
And uh, you know, we've been through a lot over
the years. But you just, I mean, you know, it
(01:53:43):
really is it's it's it's the fans, man. You hear
how much of music means to people and little encouraging
notes on whether it's Instagram or Facebook or something somebody
you walk by in the store every day. Man, I
don't think people realize how much it means to you
and how much those little pats on the back just
keep you moving forward to people come up to you
now and be like, Hey, you're the guy from I do.
I'm not sure if it's Creed or Three Doors Down
(01:54:04):
or lit they ever do that. They can't even I
get three days graced all the time. Yeah, three days Gracey.
They're a little harder. Yeah, but yeah, dang you get
Kryptonite comes out. It's a massive hit, and it's it's
played at rock radio, it's played a pop radio, it's everywhere.
(01:54:27):
At what point do you start to feel like, wow,
like we're being played everywhere and I can actually feel
it as as you're living your normal life. When I
think that we've seen how I think I've seen how far.
It was our first trip to Europe and our first show,
our first real show in Europe was a little club
in Finland, and uh and we've not even been to
Finland that many times, but it was our first show
(01:54:48):
over there. And Matt and I were walking up to
the door of this club and four or five hundred
venue and it was at three o'clock in the daytime,
and it's snowy and kind of forgot it was like
snowy or dribbling rain or something anyways, pretty inhospitable weather.
And there was three or four little girl standing in
front of the club want an autograph. And we just
walked down there in the middle of the day to
kind of check the place out, and just like we
were in Finland and they and they didn't hardly speak English,
(01:55:10):
and I was like they were waiting on us in Finland.
And in the show, you know, it was just three
or four were like three or four hundred, but it
was just showed you just how far that like your
music has reached all the way over here and took
place that you never even thought you'd come. Did they
ever try to like flash you guys up and put
you in fancy jackets and like, guys, we need more
of a like a like a like we need to
(01:55:31):
flashy sparkling for a second for a second, they did,
and they just realized that that just did not it
just that that shirt in that voice just don't look
right together. They just boy, yeah, they well, they sent
it to like media class to teach us to how
to even kind of do an interview. And I don't
think I paid attention in that class any more than
I did any other class, but uh it, I mean
(01:55:52):
it helped. And I mean they tried to make us
or tried to help us not talk quite so I
mean like this, you and I got the same thing.
When I got into doing like radio television, they were like, hey,
you're from Arkansas. Your accents too thick, And so I
went to a speech pathologist and tried to learn. And
at this point I've kind of re embraced what I
(01:56:13):
stopped doing for a while. But it was the same thing.
They were like, you can't go work in a lot
of places if you sound like a hillbilly. I know,
I know, Man's it really was like that, And um
it was I don't know what would they tell you
in these classes, Like they would go, all right, Brad,
mister Door's down, come on in, um say, because for
me it was gez because instead of going, you know, fishing,
(01:56:35):
I would be like, we're going fishing and they would
go when you, first of all, you have to add
g's all your words because you're eliminating somehow, and eyes
for me because eyes how I've been now trained to
say it, but as eyes. You know, it was like
I got hitting, get hit in the eye, you know,
instead if I got hit in the eye, and they
were like, well, if you say a people, people aren't
gonna like you because you're gonna sound like you're from Arkansas.
(01:56:57):
And so I imagine they probably do that same stuff
to you they did, you know, but you know, it
was so cool about it was as you get out
and uh and you meet people in like the real
world out on out on tour, is everybody like just
it's a Southern accident, is like disarming to people or something.
It's like they don't they don't take you to look
at you like your stupid or anything. It's like they
(01:57:17):
look at you kind of like, oh, he gotta be
you gotta be decent, you know it. It's so kind
of like it is a little bit disarming to people.
So I kind of embraced it also, and I'm like, well,
I mean people I get you know, three Doors Down,
they're in studio now they're going back out on tour.
You guys can get tickets at three Doors down dot com.
It says seven seventeen. Lem mean even Thumb Stanway Over
(01:57:38):
in March, April, May, June, July seventeenth is the first
show back, and you guys will be in Huber Heights, Ohio, Corba, Kentucky,
New Orleans, Orange Beach, Alabama, Pelham, Alabama. So a lot
of our listeners now are gotta get to see you guys,
you know on tour. Whenever you had Kryptonite and it hits,
do you have that feeling like, oh man, we have
to have a second song so we don't end up
like Chumbawamba, like like a one hit Wonder? Is that
(01:58:00):
it was that a fear in the group. Absolutely, absolutely,
and I mean it was. We were so thankful that
Loser done good, and not only had it done good,
but that it done good at rock radio because at
the time, you know, you did you want to be
a rock band, but uh, you know, Kryptomie was such
a big hit it not just rock, but at top
forty and if you went over to the top forty
two much did the rock wouldn't play anymore. So we
(01:58:21):
needed to definitely keep our roots and rock, and Loser
became a hit at rock and it was a It
was number one at rock radio for months. And it
was like four five months or something. It was. It
was for a long time. Man, I loved that was
that opening of a loser. It's just it's strong. Thank
you that would you guys? Did you guys play that acoustically?
Do you guys do a loser? Okay? Three doors down
or here? This was a number one at rock for
(01:58:42):
a long time. Here is loser. Breathe in. We're right
away and nothing seems to fill this place. I need
(01:59:05):
this every time to take your lasket off my case.
Someday I won't find I love that folks to me
ling this in, This won't fall away and just won't
fall away, getting closer to pushing me off for liciledge
(01:59:32):
because I'm a loser and sooner, lady, you know I mean,
and you're getting closer. You're holding a room then taking
a fall because I'm a loser. I'm a loser. Come on, man,
(01:59:54):
I'm all okay, three doors down here you when you
come with a coup in a second, I'm gonna ask
for when I'm gone. So just no, have you look
at tars Tuddy because I'm gonna ask for that. In
a second. We're gonna come back with three Doors Down.
I'll say it again. Go to three Doors Down dot com.
The Better Life twentieth anniversary. They have so many dates
on this tour. You guys, as you can, as you
(02:00:16):
can hear, they still have it, Brad still has it.
Sometimes artists come in they're like, I'm gonna go back
and play the record. I'm like, well sing for me.
They're like, oh, We're like, oh, no, you got it.
You guys got it. That's awesome. Hey, Brad, you know
we did this thing where I think we celebrated the
record and you know, us three we went and we
talked for a while and talked about the history at
three Doors Down, and then all of a sudden, a
(02:00:38):
copy of The Better Life on vinyl showed up in
my house. You sneak into my house and leave it there,
because I have no idea how it got in my house.
Blame it on JP. Okay, somehow that record, it had
a whole long note on it, and I was like,
I didn't let anyone in the door, and then somehow
in the house. But I gotta imagine it's crazy. You're
still in the grocery store and you hear one of
your songs, like that's gotta be a weird thing, right,
(02:00:58):
thank you're shopping for fish decks and all of a
sudden you here. I'm here without you. It was like
two weeks ago, really, And and I can hear it.
I can hear just like a little note of it.
I'll know it's at And now I told you in
this My wife stopped, Did you go? And she just
rolls her eyes and balts off. What kind of singing
training did you have as a kid when you started
(02:01:19):
the band? Um? I didn't. I grew I was the
youngest of seven kids, and I grew up an Assembly
of God church, and and you know, and some of
the God they sing a lot, and I never sang
up in front of the church. Friends just grew up.
It was never out of place in my house to
be loud, you know, because I mean my family is
a pretty loud bunch, and none of them would argue
that UM And so it was never I was never
bashful or anything. So I just kind of grew up
(02:01:40):
singing and UM and loved eighties hair metal and all
the eighties bands, and then I loved like nineties country,
and me and my friends we would ride around the
neighborhood and have a little miles the Sundowner truck that
my daddy gave me when I was like thirteen, I
just couldn't leave the neighborhood. So we'd ride that truck
around and and we would just sing and sing and
zing and zing, and I guess that's where I learned
(02:02:01):
how to sing. Would anyone tell you, hey, Brad, you're
pretty good, like you should try to sing. How did
you start to get the affirmation to know, yeah, I
should try to do this? Well, we didn't have a
singer in the van. It was just three of us,
just jam and I mean, we didn't even have a
there was nobody really even thought about two singer. I was, well,
I try it, and I didn't. I mean I was
not confident at all. And and I taught our bass player.
(02:02:26):
His girlfriend and one of her friends would be sitting
there sometimes listen to us sayment, well, Brad, do you
sound good? And I think them telling me that gave
me more encouragement to finally like stop looking at the
wall while I was singing and kind of turned around
and be like all right, I can do it, you know,
And and all my friends would I've never had any
friends that like picked on me about it. All my
friends and even like a little southern, small hometown, they
(02:02:47):
were all really encouraging about it, and that helped me
more than anything. How'd you have those friends? That's the
opposite beat me up? Told me I was a loser
the whole time. That's why I loser. Three Doors Down,
it's they're here. Tell me about the name. What How
did three doors Down the name come about? It was
It really doesn't meaning things significant. It was just we
were kind of searching for a name and we had
(02:03:10):
a gig coming up like that nine or either. The
night after this little trip we took down to go Shorts,
and being from South Mississippi, we just the little town
you go through going down there is just pull a
little fruit stands and some in the same buildings, and
one of the fruit stands had moved a couple of
parcels down in the same building. They had put up
some tack on letters it said business moves, I mean
(02:03:31):
doors down, and some of them had even kind of
fallen off. And at the time there was three of
us and we just kind of mailed it together and
used it the next night at the party and just figure, well,
it's it's semented now he can't change it. Did anyone
ever have conspiracy theories about what the like? Crazy theories
like three Doors Down is actually the sign of the Beast,
And I've heard some doozies. Really, I would imagine because
(02:03:51):
it's so like I never knew what it meant. And
you're like, well, I bet it means something like deep
or something like they're up to something. I'm sure you
heard people all kinds of weird theories about the name. Huh. Absolutely,
And I mean I can't really name them, like one
off top of my head, but people have asked me.
It's like, well, it has to be like it means
like such and such where somebody somebody left three doors
down and you murdered them. Yeah, I heard three Doors
(02:04:14):
Down are here right now. They have their guitars. They
were so gracious to come in and play some songs. Okay,
so I've got two requests. Well you do when I'm gone.
This is my first request. Absolutely, tell me what tell
me about this song? Like when you when you think
about back in the day, when you know it's written
and you started recording it, like what comes to mind
when I'm going is actually the only song that we've
ever written on tour. We've never We've always before Incense
(02:04:37):
always had the big dream getting out on tour and man,
we're just gonna really hustle this time. We're gonna play
shows at nighttime, we're getting get on the bus and
right during the day, and it absolutely never happens. And
we wrote when I'm Going on on the stage one
day at soundcheck, and and they had had they had
been playing the music around for a little bit. And
I guess we don't always write lyrics and melody or
(02:04:59):
music at the same time. Sometimes they've written this completely
different ideas that wind up together, and that's kind of
how those that idea was. And we were on stage
at sound check one day and put it together, and
I remember somebody standing there thinking that saying that, man,
that's a good song. And it also once we got it,
(02:05:19):
it gave us some confidence. It was it was really
cool to have that song and play it a little
bit on the Better Life tour, even though it was
on the way from the Sun record, because we knew
we had one in our pocket that was a good
song going into that recording process, and I think it
took a lot of the anxiety out of that recording process,
which allowed us to kind of open up and write
the songs that we did for that second record. Hey,
all right, here we go, here us three Doors Down
(02:05:40):
with when I'm gone. There's another world inside of me
that he may never see. And there are secrets in
(02:06:01):
this life that I can't high high and somewhere in
this darkness stairs and lying that I can't find. Well,
maybe it's too far away. Maybe I'm just blind. Maybe
(02:06:25):
I'm just blind, Houlbie when I'm here, Robbie when I'm wrong, Pumie,
random scared, and love me when I'm gone. Everything I
am and everything in me won't for be the one
you wanted me to be. I'll never let you down,
(02:06:46):
even if I could, I give up everything gif only
for your good to Whomie when I'm here, Robbie, when
I'm wrong, you can mob me random scared. You won't
always be there, So love me when I'm going home,
stop me, and when I'm home on three Doors Down,
(02:07:13):
So good, Chris. Whenever we talk about these songs, I
mean you wrote a lot of these songs too, almost
all of them. I mean, here you are the quiet
guy playing the guitar No One. I'm making mailbox moneys,
you know, writing these songs of Brad. I mean, it's
got to feel pretty good for these things to last
so long, right, it really does. Um. I was talking
to my wife the other day, but I was like,
you know, with COVID and everything's sitting home for two years,
(02:07:35):
like we're living off what we did twenty years ago.
It's just really a blessing. Really, Is the checks still
actually come in the mail or now they're just going right?
No email? Are you guys still making money though? Are they?
Like streams? Are you still you still getting a little
bit here and there, especially especially off like songs like
Here Without You and stuff, And I mean, you know
(02:07:55):
that song a couple of years ago, and you know,
like that song came out in two thousand and three
year whatever, two thousand and four or five or something,
one thousand and three, twousand and three, but like in
two thousand and nine or whatever, Universal took all their
music off YouTube and put it all back, so kryptonite
and Here Without You essentially got put back on the
same day and from that date, like eleven years ago
(02:08:20):
for seventeen year old song, that song, it's got like
six hundred and forty million views on YouTube and it
still gets like a million views a week? Is it?
Do people keep putting it in movies and stuff too?
And when I say the grocery store, like that's where
you want to be, it's kind of everywhere. At that
point I got assume, like, and it's weird. Could you
start it off as a rock band? And now like
I'll flip on the high AC station. It's like another
(02:08:40):
light one from three Doors down And you're like, day,
how stuff is transition, But that's where that's how you're
getting paid still, absolutely, like a rom com will put
three Doors Down in I'm here with that chube babe,
and you're like, all right, well I never expected that
love scene for the stuff. But that's gotta be cool too, right,
It really is, man, it really is, you know. And
And whereas last year, you know, we weren't able to
go out and shows, people were at home streaming some music,
(02:09:04):
you know, and and uh and that really you know,
as the transition of the music industry has happening, and
where there's really not record sales anymore, artists are you know,
that's where the artists babe is off streaming music and
in different ways, and and uh, I don't I don't
know if if kids and people realize what a blessing
they were too artists last year being at home streaming
all that music. I want to ask before we play
(02:09:25):
one more song here, because let me say this again,
twenty year anniversary, have the better life playing the whole thing.
I'm not wrong here, you're playing it from top to bottom,
top to bottom, And I want to get into be
like that, which I believe you two wrote together, just
you two, you're in a room, you write this song.
This is you know, one of the medal tracks here
when you're right, be like that, because I am I wrong.
Was it on the American Pie soundtrack too? Yeah? I
(02:09:49):
remember that thing coming in the song is also over there,
and I'm like, this is it crazy? And it was
in the movie and so that song became again such
a hit. Do you ever go? Can you believe us
who just sat there and wrote that song? Man? I
think that it was that quick. I think that all
the time I have felt guilty before about like man,
it's like I know people try like so and I
(02:10:12):
mean we're not overly talented, dude, But I mean I
mean when I say that God blessed us with some
with some songs, he really like has because, like I said,
wonder why, I like, why did somebody else write some
of those songs, you know, because they just it weren't
that they were like great, They just men. They connected
with people. And I guess to just do it in
(02:10:33):
the simplicity of it. Um. But you know, and I've
sit on stage and saying be like that of many
a night, thinking that I'm singing what this song I'm
I'm living what this song is about. I'm like, I'm
actually getting to live a song that I that I
that I wrote about. You know, here is be like
that from three doors down. He spends his nice in California,
(02:11:17):
watch him the stars on the big screen, and then
he lies awakened. He wonders, it's why can't that be me?
Because then it's a life he's filling with all these
good intentions. He's left a lot of things. He'd rather
(02:11:40):
nine men chanl right now, And just before he says
good night, he's with a little smile at me, and
he says, if I could be like that, I would
give anything and just to live on in those shoes
(02:12:03):
if I could be like that, what would I knew?
What I d three doors down there here killing that.
That's awesome, guys, this has been so much fun for me.
Bred I saw a picture of you with Scott's stat
from Creed. Yeah, and was it here in town? It was?
(02:12:27):
I didn't know he lived here. He does, man, he
lives up in Adam Frankin. I've tried to get him
on the show. He won't even respond. He won't come
on the show. Come on, is he not? Did he
not like me? Man? You know what, that's the first
time I've talked to Scott in a long time. Is
that right? That Creed was the first band to ever
take us out on tour and we per se if night,
you know a couple of times over the years, like
people like air Smith and Seasy Tod we've gone and
(02:12:48):
played in several shows with but we've never opened for
a band and Creed was the only band that we've
ever opened for. They were the first band to take
us out on tour. And uh, you know that was
back in like in the day. And it me and
Scott just somehow we got to talking on Instagram and uh,
I said, man, and he said I'll live over in Franklin.
I was like, man, I'll live in murphies Bro And
I said, hit me up. Every His son was playing
(02:13:10):
ball down the road from my house. And went down
there and talk to him and and then my wife
and I went out and eat with him and his
wife the other night man and it was it's it's
good to see Scott Man. He's doing great and he's
a he's a great dude. Man put a good word
in for me, sure, because I like the guy. And
I'm like, I want to I want to talk with them,
hang out on let me hear stories and so and
I was like, I saw a picture Brad with them.
That's my end. Because we have a mount rushmore of
(02:13:32):
guests we've tried to book on the show. It's a
weird it's a weird list, but it's Scott Staff, Whole Cooking, Vanessa, Carlton,
and post Malone and we don't have we can't get
those four and so you can help us actually take
one of the names off the mount Absolutely. Listen. They
didn't come in here for their own health. They came
in here because they have a new tour. It is
The Better Life twentieth anniversary toward Three Doors Down. They
(02:13:53):
are all over there. If you have a city, they're
probably in it. I'm looking at it here. Go to
three Doors down dot com or you can go to
the three Doors on Instagram page. All the dates are
listed there. Man, guys, you just so great. So first

the songs on stage with a microphone. Do bring you all? Right? There?

We hit it all food, dating artists, I mean, like
childhood stuff, like everything. I feel like, am I the
out of all the podcast you do? Am I always
the longest one? I mean no, I think the coolest
thing about this is we just it always ends up
on tangents, like we find different things to talk about, yes,
that you just don't realize that you want to talk
(02:15:18):
about until we're like in the moment talking about it. Yeah,
because we start off with one thing and just go
completely to a whole other direction. That's a good thing though,
because we get so many cool things to come out,
at least I hope it is. So it's very entertaining. Yeah,
if you guys like this, hit us up because we
love to see what y'all have to say. But thanks

me at up Girl, Morgage and on all the things TikTok, Twitter, Instagram,

(02:16:04):
to say him. Um, I think I'm good. We gotta
go get Mike and Weddy married. Yeah, I'm gonna have
fun with a Mariant van and eat cookies. Oh my gosh, yes,
the food and then they have like a taco I'm ready.
