Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's time for the Bobby Bones post show. Here's your host,
Bobby Bones. Hello at all our friends all over the world.
And I was watching on Facebook right now. They were
trying to figure out because we're having some podcasting issues
occasionally where an episode gets double posted or the post
(00:22):
show doesn't go up, or and someone's like I just
got to Facebook and watch, and I was like, you
know what, and think about that, Like that sits up there.
Glad everybody's here. I got a couple things I wanted
to mention before we kind of get started with some topics.
I did a Bobby Cast with Matthew Ramsey of Old Dominion,
the lead singer, dark hair, good looking guy. We talked
about a lot of things, obviously the band, his writing career,
(00:44):
but he mentioned something that I guess he had never
talked about publicly before, and it was when he was
a kid, he had plastic surgery out of the ears.
Here listen to this. I actually ended up I've never
really talked about this ever, but I actually ended up
getting plastic surgery on my ears because they were yanked
on quite a bit. I always think about this. It
must have been really bad because I kind of don't
(01:05):
think about it that much. But it must have been
really bad for me to beg my parents to fix
this problem, you know, me to physically change them because
of what people were doing. It would must have been
heartbreaking for my parents and I know stuff for me.
So for a while there, yes, I went through some
you know, some harder you punishments there. Wow, tough, huh. Crazy.
(01:28):
And it started because he's a very artistic guy, meaning
he's not just a good looking you do sing songs like.
He went to college to literally do art and he's
a painter and as a kid that's what he did,
he painted. And I said, hey, I asked this in
the most respectful way, but you could beat up a
lot because I got picked on and beat up a
lot because I was another little arty kid. And he
(01:48):
was like well, and he started going not really then
that kind of hit and he's like, well, I haven't
talked about this, but yeah, but it's a really good podcast.
I hope you guys check it out. It's the Bobbycast
this week with Matthew Ramsey of Old Dominion. I'm a
big fan of the band, obviously, but does this is good?
It's good, Well, it's interesting too that he's like, it
must have been really bad, and it just shows how
(02:09):
we can block out pain and trauma. Like yesterday's show,
I don't remember it. Oh okay, so that's up. Um
we're at my house. So apparently someone's getting arrested. Yeah,
something's definitely going on outside right now, like case you here.
That is that what it is thought the police. Thirty
(02:30):
percent of us have triple screened in the past month.
I triple screened last night phone, TV, computer. Yeah, because
I had my phone looking at DraftKings, I had my
computer looking at show stuff, and I have my TV
on the game. I've also a quadruple screened before with
an iPad where I've got stuff, I'm reading a story.
I'm watching this on my phone. Um, so I've triple
(02:55):
screen for sure in the past month. You um, I mean,
I'm sure it's happened. But do you ever get in
the bed and you have your I don't end your laptop.
I rarely have the TV on. I mostly watch things
on my computer, so I probably double screen more. Huh,
not much, because certain thing it's like it's so much
work finding the remote. But on my computer sometimes I
(03:16):
lose that Apple TV remote. I can't find it anywhere talking.
It needs its own tracker on where I go and
it goes back. Yeah, that'd be nice. Now we lose
that remote all the time. Yeah, but I guess the
shows that we watch, we'll we'll watch shows together on TV. Yeah,
but we'll watch stuff ourself on our phones. Oh wow,
(03:36):
you don't do it on the computer. I don't use
my computer. Why either go bigg or small m. I
use my computer for very little these days. I'll gather
notes at night because it's easier to copy and paste.
It's basically a copy paste machine at this point, because
it's hard to copy paste on an iPhone. Yeah, it's
really hard. Um, so yeah, I'm using my computer less
and less. Most Americans can't do more than ten push ups.
(03:58):
Oh ten real push that's terrible. No, I mean ten
real real is more difficult. But I mean I don't
ever do push ups, and I can do ten. Not
to brag, I don't know that you can do ten
ten real ones. I bet you can real ones go
all the way down toes, not on knees, up, all
the way down up, Yes you do? Yes? Why are
(04:21):
you looking at me? Put you about eight or eight
or so. Wow, So you think I get to eight
and I'm like, I just think. I mean, I feel
like some of that's mental, Like I can I can
power through and do the extra two. Yeah, I agree,
I'm not I'm not disagreeing with you that it's difficult,
but I do think that I'm capable of doing ten.
Do I want you right now? No? I don't want
to be sor tomorrow. But I do push ups almost daily.
(04:47):
I do not, and I know when I don't do
them and you got a hot back down to them
out of nowhere, it sucks. Push up real push up.
So the maximum amount of weight I've lifted in the
last twelve months is like my two pound dumbbelts. But
I use them every day. But I just don't lift
more than that. Can you do ten push ups? Yeah?
All the way technical perfect form. I mean, I wouldn't
(05:10):
say perfect. Lunch box Yeah, you know I can't. No,
he can't. Who could do more? Mike Eddie lunchbox, I'd
say Eddie. I'd say Eddie too. Oh I go lunchbox? Why?
Just to be different? Somebody needs to pick in. They
don't have to. They don't have to. Amy don't. I
mean America picks me. I'm not worried about it. Well, honestly,
(05:33):
it's a toss up in my mind. They're both kind
of the same. What you would how would you define
them both? They're they're both not worker outers, which is fine.
They move their bodies in different ways like you don't
have to. There's no shame. Does Eddie move his body?
What do you mean? And I walk everywhere you want, skateboards,
skateboards West Virginia to Tennessee. Thank you. I played a
(05:57):
full basketball game with my kids yesterday. Yeah. I feel
like if you're a parent, you're active. Milk great challenge. Yeah,
I haven't done that yet. No, today we set one up.
We're not doing that. Elvis is iconic. White jumpsuit and
cape can be yours. The opening bid for the jumpsuit
is three hundred and fifty thousand dollars and the cape
(06:19):
is fifty thousand dollars. Bidding starts tomorrow. That's way different
than Michael Jordan's underwear. Yes, do it? Do you have
an update on that, Mike? There will be other Elvis
memorabilia on the Block two, like the helmet worn in
Viva Las Vegas, a collection of hair saved by one
of his barbers, and a private Beverly Hills luncheon with
ex wife Priscella Pressley Weir. They divorced in nineteen seventy three.
(06:44):
I mean, can you ask anything you want at that
at that luncheon, I'm sure you can ask. You may
not answer, yeah, but I'm sure if she can, like
guarantee she'll answer questions. That'd be awesome. Still at nine
seventy six, eight bids and the underwear it goes until
win go for another twenty two days, only eight because
it's so early. That's why you don't have a lot
(07:04):
of people throwing bids down, you know, with three weeks
left in it. You mean last minute, it's gonna be
like well, i'd imagine it ends at like thirty five
or forty bids. Probably everybody's kind of sitting waiting, going okay,
and they all know how high they're gonna go, and
you go a little higher than that if you really
want them. You've you've been auctions, like lots of auctions.
What do you mean, have you bid on stuff? I
(07:25):
wouldn't say lots, but some, you know, I did. I
donated to an auction for the Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Central Arkansas, and I bought I played basketball with
Chortless Williamson, who played at Arkansas, won a national championship
in ninety four, went to the championship game in ninety five.
He's not coaching somewhere in Arkansas. I did played quarterback
(07:48):
with Tyler Wilson, who was a quarterback at Arkansas. Haven't
cashed that one out, ye Have you have a catch
any of them? Or DJ Williams who played for Arkansas
to tight end and then went to the Green Bay
Packers and he is now in Little Rock And I
know Dj. Now. I just did that because I was like, hey,
I bought this dude, haha, mostly to donate money. But
I haven't cash any of them in. And I don't
know that I can now even oh, like it's contact
with them anymore. But I'd love to go back and
(08:10):
play do play basketball to courtless. But yes, And it
got a little hot and heavy at the end everybody's
and I was like, I'm gonna get it. And then
then I just kept felt kind of dumb trying to
cash it in and be like, Hi, Cordless, it's me
I'm gonna play basketball with you. But yes, I never
was an eBay guy, though I just said on eBay.
(08:31):
Jordan in Indianapolis has called us. Why don't we answer
this this call during the post show Jordan? Hold on
there he is, Jordan, how are you, buddy? You're on,
You're on the air, Good morning studio. Morning. Hey. I
wanted to ask you guys, when is the draft coming back?
(08:51):
We did want a couple of weeks ago. We were
doing so many drafts for a while that we kind
of put a hold on it. But I'm sure in
general we'll start to bring them back once a week
probably in the fall. I've watched every single one of
them on YouTube, and it really helps me get to
know you guys, and what you like and what you
don't like. Well, don't let that for you. Sometimes there's
(09:11):
some pandering done, for sure in those drafts where people
are picking what they like. They're picking what they think
the people like so they can get the votes. That's true,
that's true. Yeah, yeah, yeah, to keep it in mind,
but we I assume in the fall we'll kind of
get back to them. We were going pretty hard. We
were doing it two or three days a week at one.
But it is draft time now. It is yeah, fantasy football, Yeah,
(09:34):
Tuesday night. We do have a draft on Tuesday Nday nights. Yeah,
And I had the last pick I have. Actually, I
hired Jayla Williams, who plays center for the center forward
for the University of Arkansas, to be my spokesperson for
the next two months. What did he call it? An
n I L I'll explain that to you if you'd like. Oh, yeah,
but I'm having him announced today that I drew the
(09:54):
tenth pick out of ten picks in our friend draft.
So that's big news. So he's gonn announce it on
my Instagra later today. Um. So, the NC double A
has finally allowed college athletes to make money off their name, image,
and likeness. It's called an nil deal name image likeness.
In the past, you couldn't pay players, not legally to
hire them to do stuff, and so big corporations are
(10:17):
finally able to pay college athletes, and so I thought, well,
I'd like to do So I just hired a favorite
basketball player on the team right now, and uh, he's
gonna be my spokesperson for the next couple months. And
he just does whatever I asked. And a messaging, makes
a video and send it over to me, and he
posted on his account he's supporting an athlete. Basically that's
what it did. Pretty cool. Yeah, so you just like
(10:37):
he's like a ten ninety nine like a contract. Yes,
you just you do whatever. And what's funny about it is,
I've not seen one person just like a single person
just hire some Yes, but like I mean, but you're
you're a business. But also it's funny who can I hire?
But how much are they my my business? Whatever you
(11:00):
want to pay? Really? Wait, wait, who's a cool college at?
Oh no, no, no, help out the swimmer that's never
gonna get a nil? Well, going to the Arkansas punter.
There we go someone that's never gonna get one. But
then I thought I'd rather go to Jaya Williams, who
I'm a big big fan up on the Arkansas team.
(11:21):
He's from Arkansas. Um, but if you go to my Instagram,
you will see Jaylen Williams announcing our NI L deal
name image likeness. Um, I think it's pretty cool. I've
not seen a single person doing a n I L
deal yet. Um, So I thought it was pretty funny.
It is I didn't know what. I didn't get it
when I saw it, but I get it now. And
(11:42):
so let's see, he's gonna say whatever, Like if you're
like heck, at this point on, he's gonna be like, hey,
today he's gonna post out Bobby Fest that's great. He's
gonna post about me getting the tenth pick in my
fantasy draft out of ten coming up. Um, there's a
couple of things for my life going to mention on.
And you gotta think he's so happy to do this,
I would assume because there's no work at all. Right, So,
(12:04):
like if you eat, you and Kitlin are announcing her
having a baby one day, is he doing it? Well? Well,
I mean I don't know. I'm just thinking of like
big things he could be used, he could be used
for whatever. Does he get paid per video or is
it just signed at them? So it's like a he's
on retainer. No, I signed a contract for a start
amount of time with him. Hey, bones, So how much
(12:28):
was your contract? Yeah? Write it write it down. No, No,
I'm just write it down all right, all write it
down later? All right? What's your question if you extend
like a contract into the season, Like when he does
press conferences. Can you tell him like, hey, mentioned my
name in your press conference. I don't know about that.
He'd probably get in trouble because when they do these deals,
(12:49):
they can't actually say the school. I can't be wearing
the school's name. Oh it's like a baseball player that
does viagra. He can't go on in a Mariner jersey.
That's why they going on like a blue or green
jersey because unless you have a deal with this, you know, Mariners,
the organization or the league, you can't use the league.
So you'll notice we never say the words Arkansas Razorbacks.
(13:14):
I do a basketball and a Razorback emoji, but you
can't use the school and none of them can. Just
like professional athletes, I can't use the team jersey. That
makes sense. But he does say because he can mention
me being a Razorbacks fan, he does say biggest Razorbacks fan,
which I am. Oh okay, But what I would love
is for like Justin Moore, like we all just grab
a hog, basketball player, football player, and then we get
(13:38):
more recruits because they see we're paying all the players.
Oh see, there's a deeper investment like that, Amy. What
I'm just like now, I gotta find my person, find
a rower, but then nobody, but still help us. This
is what I paid for two months. Okay, okay, a doable. Ridiculous.
(14:00):
I mean sure it's funny. Yeah, so that's what's up.
But awesome for him. I mean, that's cool for these
college athletes. I mean, you're investing in your players. I
just gotta text here, Oh, I have my I have it.
He sent you on something. No, it read the guy
(14:21):
that does my social media videos here. He just edited
the one from Jay. Do you want to hear I
haven't heard it yet. There we go. What's up everyone?
Jail official spokesperson for Bobby Bones. I'm just gonna tell
you guys a few things that's happening for Bobby this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, he's putting on two different views
and festivals. The first festival will be Saturday to Port
(14:42):
in New Bronsville, Texas. In the second festival will be
Sunday the did in witches Tall, Kansas, where Bobby will
be headlining with Russell Binkerson and Mattie and Say. There
will also be a side stage of acts that starts
at one pm. You can get tickets and auto Info
and Raging Idiots dot Com. While I'm here, I might
as well tell you guys, something is that me and
Bobby haven't come. While I'm honest six ten. Bobby likes
(15:03):
to line and tell people that he's six one. I
can go Wobbi likes to say the Hayton, which nobody
has ever seen him through that and coming up on Tuesday,
Bobby has a fantasy draft with a ten pig. I
was ten pigs, but I tell him you can never
go wrong with the number ten. I'll see you guys
next week. Piece. That's great, funny there you go, Um, awesome,
(15:25):
I'll be posting that a minute. Go like that and go, yeah,
follow him too. That's awesome. We got some support. Um,
that's what nil is though. Okay, what are you looking up?
I was trying to find there. I was like the
one time it made me think when you say things
at a press conference or whatever, like we all had
a bet with our pastor that he couldn't work something
into a message and he did it. Well. I did
(15:46):
that with Ray on the talk. Oh yes, when you
were like yeah, I was like trying to fit in
some words right right, Yeah, you did clap back. Yes,
I did another one too, or was that the only
one that was it? I did? I mean the other
ones were to be tough. It was Gucci and like change,
and I think that might have been at Yeah, well
I did it live on TV. I want to find
(16:08):
this guy so I can follow him. What's his name again?
You're Jalen Williams. It's on my last Instagram. Okay, I'll
go really really nice kid. He seems super nice. I
like him already. Welcome to the fam. Sixteen year old
Elena Thompson. Don't call her honey boo boo oh? Is
that her is dating a twenty year old college student?
(16:29):
Is that that crazy? It's borderline yes, because she's in
high school and he's twenty. Like no, so you're absolutely no? Yeah,
I'm absolutely no. If I guess here's my thing. If
she's about to turn seventeen and he just turned twenty.
But it gets to know, doesn't that start to be
kind of anytime someone is in high school and another
(16:50):
person is not in high school, it's weird, and that's
just I don't know it's right or wrong. I mean,
back of the day, people used to get married at
all kinds of different ages and be together and nobody
thought it was weird, but now sorry, it's weird. Sixteen
year old Elanta Thompson says she doesn't have friends, but
she doesn't have a boyfriend. The reality star, whose name
is Alanta Thompson, has secretly been dating Draylen Carswell for
(17:12):
six months despite the age gap. The family reportedly approves
of the budding romance. They have confirmed their court They
have confirmed their courtship. Oh well, I mean if the
parents approved. Well, I don't know. That's the only rule.
Though it's already close for me sixteen and twenty, like
it needs to be an old sixteen in a very
young twenty. Yeah, but even then, I don't know. Yeah,
because you know, like in high school, if there's a
(17:33):
sophomore dating a senior and then the senior graduates. That
happens to Eddie. I get that. But this one, she's
sixteen and twenty. They've only been dating six months, so
they didn't meet in high school. This is a no go, guys.
And also as she older a Hollywood sixteen than a
normal person sixteen, I don't know. But they okay, I'll
get that. They Hollywood sixteen, You grow up faster. But
(17:54):
don't they say when you have start him at a
certain age, you kind of get paralyzed at that age
and you're not as mature as you should be. What
about a nineteen and a sixteen year old? Would that
have changed your mind? Because he could have been nineteen
when they started day. I don't know, I'm just throwing
it feels weird to me, but amy nineteen to sixteen,
I just I'm gonna stand by, like when somewhat because
(18:17):
what in nineteen and sixteen be sophomore and senior? Yes, yes,
and that would be that happened all the time at
my school. Just trying to put that out there. Let's
not jump on her. I bet she's cool though I
met her mom. You did, She's really nice? Yeah, like
see honey boob won't. Her character when she was younger
seemed funny and charismatic and a good personality. I figure
(18:39):
as an adult or sixteen year old, she's probably cool.
I wonder why she doesn't have friends. Yeah, I don't know.
I didn't watch the show all other here YouTube clips.
Her mom was wild, I'll say that. Very nice when
you met her, but she was wild. Yeah. The flaws
that women find attractive on guys. Do you want to
hear these or no, You've never been more excited for us.
(19:01):
Come around, let's hear it because we're guys full of
flaws here. Balding is number one boom. I knew it
says more women than ever are digging it and it
goes well with facial hair. When are you going to
do the full shave? Then? What do you mean full
shave your head bald? I'm not there yet. Whenever I
feel like I need what amy? Amy totally gave me
a look like I should have done it two years ago. No,
(19:23):
I just was wondering, what is there? What do you mean?
You said you're not there yet, so what's there? Like? Like, look, guys,
I have hair like I have still I still have it. Yeah,
you have too much hair to go, you know what
I mean? Like, there's gonna be a point where I'm
gonna be like, oh, this is like totally holding on.
I should definitely share. Yeah, Okay, that's true, that's fair.
It is quite lush in certain parts of your head,
Thank you. I just I will be real with myself
(19:47):
when it comes to that point, I will shave it
all glasses there he is that's there is they make
you up here more intellectual, conversation will engage and reliable.
Shyness can make you seem mysterious. It's kind of you
a little bit looking young. Yes, definitely scars. I have
(20:08):
a scar that runs from my freaking body hair, body
scent o sin, what's that? I don't know? Stinky? And
they're rough hands. Yeah, I have rough hands, just like
to wait the nut from doing any sort of work. Um,
(20:29):
let's see. I think that's going to be it for today.
It's pretty short post show. Let me look at my
list here. Yeah, I think I'm good. Amy. You want
to talk about your podcast? Oh yeah, I'd love to
um four Things with Amy Brown and my friend Kat Defada.
She comes on with me from time to time, but
she's a licensed therapist. And I thought it was important
this week to have a conversation around mental health. And
(20:51):
I get there's like so much heaviness in the world
that we tried to make the conversation also light. So
we we've done some levity so it don't feel like
you need to stay away from it because it's heaviness
on top of heavy, but it's not. And then September
is Suicide Awareness Month, so we touch on that and
just checking in on your friends because you just never know.
Just like there's functioning alcoholics like high functioning, there's high
(21:12):
functioning depressed people. So you just never know where someone is.
So I just would encourage you to listen to it's
a really good episode. There you go, Four Things with
Amy Brown. You guys have a great weekend. Eddie and
I will be out in your brables tomorrow, Texas, which
Tall Sunday. I've been waiting for this, have you? Oh? Yeah,
I'm so excited. It's gonna be so much music, so
much fun. I'll see you guys. Have a great weekend.
By everybody,
