C K and Carmen. It's beninety five Friends Knows Home for hip hop
and hits. You know, Ilove when we sit down and we talk
about events that are about giving backto the community. Comments Yes, I
mean, and honestly, this isa fifth time we're doing this with our
boy Edward. Welcome. Thank youso much for being here, and thank
you so much for me. Whenyou first started this, you had a

(00:20):
vision. Obviously you thought this issomething I want to be able to get
back to my community. This isand then you love shoes, so your
your shoe head, which is whythis kind of like clicked right. Yeah.
Yeah, I've always noticed kids shoes, um sneakerhead like like you said,
but I always watch kids shoes.I used to work for friend Nan
Unified, so it was the firstthing. Um, you always look at

(00:41):
shoes. So um. I usedto notice some of the kids that were
that I worked with that were veryum unresponsive outside but inside the class they
would be, you know, talkingto me and then agu outside and I
watched the shoes like, oh,hold on one second, because just hearing
that, yeah, it made merealize one thing. It's almost like your

(01:03):
shoe game is your confidence level.Yes, and especially in certain certain environments
and certain communities, if your kicksaren't on points, you don't feel confident.
Like you said, in the classroom, everything was all good, but
once they had to walk the hallways, once they had to be around friends,
once they had to socialize, ifthey didn't feel confident about what was

(01:25):
on their feet. Yeah, Imean, unfortunately that says a lot about
our society. But I think it'simportant that we as parents and we as
people in the community say what canwe do to help build that confidence?
And you pointed out one thing andmaybe a lot of folks overlooked the shoe
game. And I love that you'redoing that. Yeah, yeah, you're
sir. So um, like Isaid, it's it's in and like you

(01:49):
said, you you really hit onit. The confidence just would be you
know, I like you. SoI went to one specifically and to ask
some me like, man, youfunny man, I've seen you in class.
It's like, mister Tom, thisman my shoes. And this was
at least ten twelve years ago whenI when I worked for Freslan Unifieding,
It's like, man, my shoes. So I went in. He was
actually close to my sards got himsome shoes, right, and from near

(02:14):
God just gave me a bigger visionthan so many kids just like him.
And that's how it started. Withforty bags of shoes. It's growing a
thousands in the past. Wow.Wow, that's beautiful. And you know,
I seeing the video footage of likethe recap of it of your events
and seeing how happy these kids arecollecting their shoes, it is is there
something too that like it does boosterconfidence, It does excite them, you

(02:36):
know, because I mean we allremember being little and remembering like wanting a
certain you know shoe or even havinga good shoe game, and it does,
you know, boost your confidence. So yeah, it's tough to see,
especially I'm sure you feel that whenyou're there handing out the shoes.
Yeah, I mean one of myfavorite things to do is some of the
parents, um, they don't havethe means to get their kids even like

(02:59):
not having a brand shoes. SoI remember last year in particular, it
was a pair of Jordan's twelves Igave to a kid, Brandon out out
the box and like he almost gotteial, like this is my first pair
of Jordan. Like he was seventeenyears old. First pair of Jordan's he
ever got. Wow, he's beena you know always you know men,

(03:22):
it was it was like him gettinga car like mean ahare Yeah, it
was. It was really that andthen we all remember our first Jordan's.
Yeah you know what I'm saying, that's true that people can still donate right
right now. Yes, we arestill open the donations. You can donate
at Fresnel City Hall right out inthe front, or you can come to
our church an impact church. Umdid his right behind uh fashion fair mall.

(03:47):
So let's talk about the event, where it takes place, the times
they need to be there, sothat way they can make sure that they
get a pair of shoes, becausethere have been situations where you run out.
Yeah. Yeah, So go aheadand explain to everybody where, when
and what they need to do.Okay, perfect. We so we're collecting

(04:09):

bigger than we've ever down. Justso we know about how many people are
you blessing with these shoes, well, it should be close to close to
eight eight to nine hundred. Wow. Yeah. Last year we had it

(05:15):
was our biggest one. We hada nine hundred people literally like from one
side of Carry Park all the wayto the opposite side fashion and the fact
that we're talking about some Jordans.I know, I know, because that's
the thing you're thinking, like,oh, you know, we're getting shoes.
But it's like, have you seenthe kind of shoes he donates?
Yeah, Like, how do youget folks to donate dunks and Jordans?

(05:36):
And yeah, everybody's really just seenthe vision of it. And um,
one of my favorite things to dois obviously you can come drop off,
but we do pickups as well.So I like going out, you know,
on the going out with my teamand going to do pickups and the

(05:56):
community is so happy to bring out. You know, I got these Jordans,
I got these Dunks, I gotthese Yeezys, and uh they're really
uh, we're really grateful for themcoming along with this. We couldn't do,
like I said, what we dowithout the community, without the community
donating so so awesome. It's it'samazing that they've been about so again they
can actually search you on social mediaand everything. Yeah, what is it?

(06:19):
