about the third annual San Joaquin ValleyBlack Expo. It is happening this weekend
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, andSunday, going to be taking place at
Fresno State going to be taking placeat Campus Point and Carmen, I mean,
this is a great event for thecommunity and it is definitely needed.

(00:21):
It really is. And the factthat you have several days, so you
can't say, oh, I'm gonnabe busy this day. You have several
days. He's from and let's goin and talk about this event. Lovely
Janice is in the studio. Hello, Janice, how are you doing?
I'm doing well. Cy Ka andCarmen, how are you doing good?
Doing good? Beautiful Queen is inthe studio, Yes, I am.
Hey. Hey, all right,So ladies, let's talk about the San

(00:43):
Joaquin Valley Black Expo and just kindof talk about the purpose, what it's
all about, and just the eventin general. So, as you said,
this is the third year for theSan Jaukin Valley Black Expo, and
it is a communications and systems networkthat we're designing up and down the ninety
nine quarter from Stockton into Madusto andthe purpose I'm more Stockton, I'm sorry
into Bakersville, and the purpose ofit is to showcase and highlight black excellence

(01:08):
up and down the ninety nine. It's the connecting you know, as we're
talking about, it's connecting the community. Yes, unity in the community,
right as I made it up asI came community. We're focusing on five
pillars. Not only is this anexpo on showcasing and highlighting black excellence,

(01:32):
but it's also information, which iswhat we're trying to gather and share,
uh, setting some baseline information thatfolks may not have, and building on
that education, used development, environmentalsecurities, economic development, and enterprise and
agrib business, which is what theSamuel Quin Valley is. All of that
I don't yes, yes, Andthese are not things that you're going to

(01:53):
learn in school. These are allthings too that are available for you right
now, so you have to takeadvantage of it, you know, right
right right. They're all tools thatyou can just utilize in your everyday life
to help to help your community,to help your family, yourself. They're
very useful. The one thing Ilove about this event is there's a variety

(02:13):
of different things that you can getinvolved in Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
I mean, you have vendors, you have people that are gonna come
out on Saturday and Sunday at campuspoint, but you're also going to get
things started on Thursday and Friday, talk about how the whole process works,
what's going to be going on,and some of the people that are gonna
be there to help out and justgive this information of the community. Right
yeah, you're right. Ck.The it starts on Thursday, and there'll

(02:37):
be educational workshops for everyone. Youknow, from you young adult, you
know, the older generation, themature generation. I g okay, Thursday
is a single focus on you, right yeah. Thursday is all about you.
All about your partnering with the FresnelState and the importance of that is

(02:58):
the numbers at Fresnel State in termsof African American attendance in this valley are
very low, and so by partneringwith the regional college and this regional initiative,
then we have an opportunity for kidsto come on campus and meet the
campus president, meet the new directorfor student Affairs who's doctor Kent will Us

(03:19):
and that's Thursday for youth is veryvery important kind only how you can get
into the college, but also wehave doctor Venice Curry who's going to be
talking about the environment. And yourvoice matters that and the voice that we're
talking about is definitely the youth.Your voice matters. What is the environmental
impact living in the San Joaquin Valley? Come on your life? Yes,

(03:43):
I love that. So Thursday isabout focusing on the youth. And then
you get to Friday, Saturday andSunday talk to us about some of the
vendor booths, the entertainment, theWall of Achievements. Yes, so this
year the Wall of Achievement. Weactually I have a tenth that's set up.
Your voice matters, your story matters, and so we'll be having the

(04:04):
tent set up for those who arecut from the Fresnel Bakersfield areas like an
area. You'll be able to comein and do five minutes on how your
family got to this valley. We'llbe compiling that over the next couple of
years and really telling the story ofthe African American journey in this valley.
What brought us here, what arethe nuances they keep us here? And

(04:26):
how do we build a culture withblack excellence here in this valley? Oh,
I love this for so many reasons. You know there are parents or
even aunt's, uncle's cousins listening rightnow. You need to know how important
this is and what an opportunity isto take because it doesn't happen often and
this is a once in a lifetimeopportunity that I love that you guys are
continuing to do this because it isvery important to be consistent, you know,
and have these type of events thatcan really share or spark creativity for

(04:50):
the youth. And like you said, Thursday is for the youth specifically,
but they can actually come throughout thewhole event. Right. It's no cost,
No, it doesn't cost anything. You just got to register. But
there's no cost to this. There'sno cost, and we actually want to
highlight those who come from the valleyand may live in New York, may

(05:12):
live in in San Francisco, Florida. So everything is streamed right. All
you have to do is go toSJV Black Expo dot com okay, and
you'll get the highlights of whenwere andsay that one more time because everything is
streamed and you can get that wheres JV Black Expo dot com. And
you can also register if you wantto go and attend locally at s JV

(05:36):
Black Expo dot com. Right, all right, before we let you go,
is there anything else you want tosay about this event, because it's
important, it's needed. Like yousaid, unity in the community up and
down the ninety nine quarter, justreal quick. Sunday's event, Okay,
Sunday for us is always one ofthose that's a praise and worship and a

(05:59):
thank you. And so the presidentof the college will be speaking, Jim
Consta, Congressman Consta will be speaking. Our keynote is out of Mansfield,
Louisiana. We're connecting the dots sothat folks will know who and what we
are. And really, if youwant to just get your praise on I
love this, just give thanks.Sundays the day to do it and everything
is from ten to six Saturday andSunday, from ten to two Thursday and

(06:25):
Friday. So there you go allthe info that you need to know for
the third annual San Joaquin Valley BlackExpo. It is starting this Thursday.
