Speaker 1 (00:02):
Live from the Mercedes Bands Interview Lounge. Well, I gotta
tell you, even though the Jonas brothers are here in
the room with us and they performed unbelievably a few
moments ago, I'm getting that sad. That's sad feeling. Do
you guys get this feeling when they're breaking down after
a show and a show's done. This is a bit somber.
Usually gone show depression, usually gone by that. You're usually

(00:24):
at the waffle house by that. Yeah, we played five
shows on Broadway two weeks ago and it was so
exciting and then you just like there's nothing right after.
So there's that moment where you have to like get
your your feet back wet, you know. So is there
a post show like, Oh, yeah, for sure, there's like

(00:45):
a come down. All cases, it lasts like a week,
r two or three lifetime. Oh no, Look, I shouldn't
be so rude as a rude host, like I'm so
glad you're here, but I'm so sad. Say I'm getting
full of crap. I want you guys to hear something
when you're when you're out in the living room doing
your thing. I mean, you hear this and that, and

(01:05):
you're vocalizing with each other way, I want you to
hear what it sounded like for the rest of the
world we have just listen to what is Listen to
what you just did conversions a double bus. It's not

(01:26):
bad for a rickety old studio. It sounds like that
uptown music, right. Is that what it's like when you're
in the studio working, working these songs. It's pretty good
for seven thirty in the morning. Well, no, and that

(01:48):
I'll take it when you guys go to the studio,
when you get to listen to the mix and they
do it, And are you ever just amazed at what
you guys and all the people around you can create
these incredible sounds, incredible lyrics, everything. Um, Austin, amazed at
how incredible everyone else's. Um. You know the people we
have with us here this morning. Uh, these two guys

(02:10):
very impressive musicians. Um. But it's it's amazing, you know,
getting to work with talented people. It is such a gift,
you know, we were saying earlier, you can always tell
a lot about the artist or the band by the
people they surround themselves with. Your crew was here yesterday,
last night and then this morning before you got here
the nicest guys. It makes us very happy. I mean,
we all agree that, you know, it's way too early

(02:33):
to be functioning, but they're just the great guys. I
think it's because they really I'm assuming they just really
like working with you guys. Why is that? What do
they see in you? We're trying to figure it out.
We've had the same we have a lot of the
same band and crew for many many years. I think
it's like becomes a family. Even outside of the Brothers.
It's like those who, like you said, the people that

(02:53):
you surround yourself with and you want to travel the
world with your friends, and and even though your your
colleagues and you're you know, everyone has a different role. Uh.
It's it's so amazing when you can all come together
and say, like, all right, let's go get a drink
after the show, let's go have dinner, because you know
the person, rather than it's just in and out right
out the venue. There's so many moving parts when it
comes to a Jonas Brothers concert, right absolutely. I mean

(03:17):
I know a ton of people in here were very
excited and did see you guys on Broadway And we
had a listener call us and tell us that they
almost tripped you, specifically Joe while you are on stage
by accidents. Yes, I do remember this, and whoever you are,
I will find you. Oh wow, he was. He was humiliated.
He was like, oh my god, he's hopefully he forgot it,
but you didn't. I totally forgot Okay, I don't remember

(03:39):
any of this. I was just trying to make it
back to Actually, so for those who weren't there and
have no idea, again, it's the Jonas brothers here at
the radio station. Yea, thank you in the morning show
at the morning show radio station. So makes sense to me.
I took off during Kicked by the Ocean and ran
through the crowd. But these theaters are much smaller than

(04:00):
some of the places we've played, like Yankee Stadium, so
as we as I as I took off, I ran
into the lobby of the then you because that's as
far as I go, And then I'm just there. I'm
at the bar. I was like, or a drink I
hast some time in the middle of the song, yes,
and I was like, you know what, I'll grab some merch.
So I grabbed a bunch of merch. I grabbed as
much as I could and ran back in. And what

(04:22):
I didn't know is apparently the person working the merched
end and I hats off to them, thought I was
stealing merch. You chased me down to the stage. I am.
Technically they chased you to the stage. Yes, apparently, but
then I tried yeah, and then then I guess then
that person tried to trip me. Whoever you are, well no,
I mean, if you work for the Cadillac dealership, you
just can't get an escalator. Drive them off the frigging lot.

(04:43):
There's more two it unless your name's Cadillac. Okay, thank you,
touche Joe Cadillac. For now one you'll be known as
Joe Cadillac Cadillac. Yes, Um, where do we start? I mean,
you're talking a few moments ago about the people you've
you've collected as your friends, and they've collected you over
the years. We're talking about years of this, Jonas Brothers.

(05:04):
Now you're doing things like selling out on Broadway. How
many nights four or five? It was five? Five? And
then off the heels of that, we announced, Uh Yankee
sitting right, Yankee, very excited about Look at you. You You
have a little grin on your face, the sight of
your mouth, like a lifelong Yankees fan right as you know,
we grew up in Jersey, so this is in the
era of Derek Jeter Um. So it was really special.

(05:27):
We got to go to the game the other day
actually and meet some of the players. Uh, it was
just a great time, and you know, we're kind of
riding high off of all that, and then eventually, you know,
announcing the tour as well and the album coming out
next month. At much fun was it for you guys
to call that game? It was? It was kind of stressful. Yeah,
we tried to do I thought it was just gonna
be like one thing and then they just they just

(05:48):
do it. Stepped back and then we have this the
MIC's right on our mouths and we're like and that
the guys, the guys kind of swe the mess ball
and it's exciting. Dist I felt like I was. They
were in the stadium with you. No, that thing went viral,
everyone just talking about it. It's those things that matter,
you know, the things, those are the things that you

(06:09):
don't expect to go that just happened. Well, that's what's you.
What you guys do beautifully in My opinion is you
could easily just play out of stadium and then leave
and go play another auditorium. But you're doing exciting things
like the baseball field, the world famous Yankees, Broadway stages
and stuff like that. Is that what you need to do?
Is that? Is that how you keep a marriage happy?

(06:29):
You got to mix it up. Those are two different questions.
Absolutely not, it's the same thing. Do you mix it
away one night Yankees another? Exactly? You keep it excited. Really,
just we're building a tour for couples. Bring your partner,
you'll see us on Broadway or a baseball game. Well,
it depends why you're into. There are many successful artists

(06:49):
that can easily just you know, do venues at venues,
But you guys, your venues and things you choose to
do are fun. Yeah. So I think with this whole campaign,
we were like, what haven't we done? You know, we've
been in this for almost twenty years, so we're checking
off bucket list items and Yankees one, we always want
to do something on Broadway And the next was that
flud Ruckers. Yeah, exactly, outer space and space I bet

(07:15):
you have in the meeting, I didn't, would you write down, Nate,
I can't read that. He said they are all fathers
now than statement. Thank god he's here, otherwise I really
wouldn't know where to go with this interview. Okay, so
you're all dads now, yes, yes, dot dot dot and
that's when you're supposed to like field in the blank.
It's pretty cool. Okay, there you go. Thing. I love

(07:36):
being a dad. It's really wonderful. Um, girls are ninety
six now, they're about to have spring breaks, so they're
actually now they're on spring breaks, so they're pumped, right,
but it would be good. Well, that's cool to see.
It's cool. I'm sorry, god, no, you do you go ahead? Okay, Um,
it's just amazing that we actually are all girl dads.
Oh yeah, and that's my mom is our mom is

(07:57):
very excited about it. I bet yeah. Well, Glammy's pumped.
Oh glammy Glammy? Is that the name that they chose
or she chose? She chose? Please? My mother would have said, please,
don't ever call me glammy. I'm mom. And even then,
don't address me, don't look me in the eye. Thanks.
The album is called The Album. It's out next month,

(08:19):
and of course John Bellion, who I know you guys
worked with him either. There's no finer person. I just
I love him the best. See that ship you saw
in the green room, I was on that ship with
John Bellian. It was just so happened. He was there
with his girlfriend or whoever it was at the time,
and uh, I just love his lyrics. But he he

(08:40):
loved working with you guys, and it was what do
you learn when you work with you merge in with
someone new like that. Does it totally change your perspective
about what you're doing and why you do it? Yeah?
I mean with with John specifically, it was a really
unique experience because he's, you know, obviously a brilliant artist
in his own right, an incredible writer, producer, um. And
we came to the table with him and said, here's

(09:02):
kind of the sounds were we're feeling with this next album,
some seventies influences and uh, you know BG's and Stevie
Wonder and the Eagles, and he really took that and executed.
He did it, which which you know, sometimes the idea
to what you end up with is a very different thing.
But to put our trust in him like that and
have him deliver in such a big way meant the

(09:24):
world to us because we we care so deeply about
you know, the music and what we're saying. And that
was the other thing he understood is, you know, I
think that at this point the themes and the stories
were telling like it's important that it's really authentic to us.
So there's a lot of back and forth about you know,
brotherhood and family and obviously relationships, but also fatherhood was
a big theme, and he was able to help us

(09:44):
kind of craft all of that into this body of work.
And it's just been a great experience we're using. I mean,
those examples of Stevie Wonder and who else did you
mention us? Did you actually did he actually say here,
listen to this cut they did back in nineteen seventy whatever,
see see what you think about this sound? Did you
gu guys actually know that our dad, you know, back

(10:04):
in the day, our dad raised us on on all
that great music, and so I think it's always been
within us. But our music throughout our career is like
taking kind of different, you know shape, and the early
days it was sort of that pop punk emo thing
and and over time it's it's evolved, and I think
that's the beauty of the kind of moment where now
is that Actually going back and playing you know, like

(10:24):
we did on Broadway, an album from that point in
our life, and then coming back after an intermission and
playing you know, an hour of our more recent, more
familiar songs. It just shows, you know, the journey that
we've been on, and it's it's fun for us to reflect.
But also this album, the album I feel like, embodies
where we are now, as as brothers, as husbands and fathers,

(10:44):
and it's just great to to kind of lean into
that and share that with with the world. When you
guys were performing waffle House, we actually received a text
you said, is this the Jonah's Brothers with the Dubie Brothers.
Well that was very stutill take it. You'll take it.
Dubie Brothers, the Jonah's Brothers are here, by the way,
Saturday Night Live this weekend. Yes, how many times have
you guys done Saturday Live? This is interesting? This is controversial,

(11:06):
but it's on who you ask. Okay, we've done it three.
I've actually been on it fourth as a camera when
Nick did it. But um, okay, can we back this
truck up just a moment I've watched button. Oh well,
you use the brown word. I love it again. We
had Cedric the entertainer here, the only sitting right here.

(11:28):
Cedric would say the F word and go let me
push it. He pushed it himself. I'm like, okay, great, okay,
so yeah, back to this, So sorry, this seems my
my fifth time right the show. I've done it. This
is the third time with the brothers uh and twice
solo and uh, you know they get that five timers

(11:49):
jacket out. There's a jacket. There's a jacket, and I'm
just we'll see if I get it, and I will
I will certainly rub it in their faces if I
do well five times jacket. Are you nervous? Are you
guys going to be in any sketches or can you
not tell us that? I don't know if we can
say or not. That means yes, yeah, that's the idea

(12:11):
that we'll be in some sketches. But here's the thing
is that you never know what's going to make the
show until the very last minute, right, So you could
really prep and read the script and be ready and
then it gets cut an hour before you're like, okay,
we're doing that other one I didn't read. A lot
of people don't know the rehearsal is actually a show
to go to because they do they do everything, and
it's so fun to see some of the ones that

(12:32):
don't really work well sometimes in front of an audience.
Sometimes the wrong ones are chosen and the right ones
they throw in the trash can. By the way, So
whether or not you're going to be in a skit,
I don't know, it'll be a surprise. But Lewis Capaldi
said in this chair yesterday didn't say one word about
you being on stage with him at it was it
was great and I thought you totally opened up and
we had and opened up. Man. He was talking about

(12:53):
his penis size, you're talking about his parents, talking about tots.
He talked about everything. We had to use a dumb
button with him yesterday. Yeah, that's not surprising. We have
dumped a lot this week. We'll leave it at that,
but we have. It's just been like the laxative of weeks. Anyway,
back to you this week sponsored by Exactly Thank You.
So I mean at what point, I mean, do you
guys in around a conference room going okay, we got

(13:15):
a top everything we just did we gotta do Yankee
Stadium done? We gotta do Broadway done. I mean, we
definitely have bucket lists items places that we'd love to play,
cities we'd like to see, so we're like, let's build
a tour around that city. I think it's just been
amazing to see that we've had a loyal fan base
for many, many years and it continues to seem to

(13:37):
grow and new listeners are coming along the way, and
we're just so excited to share this this new music
with people. So the bigger the stage, the better. I
guess that's the cool part about this moment. Now playing
the shows, you know, we're looking out at the audience,
and our fans have grown up with us, right and
they're going through some of the same life experiences, which
is amazing to see, and we're all around the same age.

(13:59):
But what we're seeing now is that the parents who
used to bring their kids, who are now in their
you know, late twenties thirties, are still coming to the
shows with their kids and now their grandchildren. And that
new generation who are introduced to us as like a
new band is hilarious and great to see that it's
hitting so many different generations, and it's sort of like
our family. You know, our kids come to the shows

(14:21):
and our our parents come and it just feels like
one big, happy Jonas family. It's kind of like this show,
is it. We've been around long time? Yeah, but I'll
tell you why, happy coup and go. You know what,
I used to listen to you when I was a kid,
and now my grandkids listening. Holy crap, I'm old. Um,
talk to me. We have a few seconds left, but
talk to me about the dynamics of being on a

(14:43):
stage doing a live, lights on stadium show versus just
the three of you in a studio or just in
the living room when you're together in making your music.
What's it like? Take us there if you can in
words on stage or just no, well okay, on stage moment,
like to give me your vital signs and then talk

(15:03):
to me about what it's like just the three of you. Well,
the IROs chan that you know, when it's just the
three of us writing music or in the studio, we're
thinking about, you know, being on stage in front of
thousands of people performing that song. Um, and so we
really kind of write our music with that in mind
and with that feeling in mind, because for us, it's
it's like our our bread and butter, you know, our
live shows are are the thing we love the most

(15:25):
and the thing that I think inspires us all and
so um, we really do kind of create with that
in mind. And that's I think pretty evident in this
this album, which is uh, you know, I'm excited for
people to hear. Okay, So what's the story behind waffle House? Ah? Well,
waffle House, you just it's more of an idea of
a place that we can go to that's a comfort

(15:46):
place where I think for a lot of people, a
lot of listeners out there, you have a spot maybe
your family went to growing up, or you go with
friends and you laugh, you cry, you fight and you
make up at the spot if your living room, if
your living room, it could be the waffle house was
for us because when growing up and we were too
young to go have a drink after the show with
our band and crew, we'd go to places like the
waffle House where it was the only spot open on

(16:08):
the road. Um. And so I think we've spoken to
a lot of different people and they're like, oh my,
that was that was this diner for me or that
was um TikTok diner in New Jersey. You know, like
things still there. Three. I think it's got a crazy story.
There's a murder mystery story there is, you know I've
heard about that. Let's co host a podcastrapping the murder

(16:30):
mystery of ticket TikTok, the TikTok murders. Yeah, I mean
that's actually that he was the son of law try
to take out the boss. Well allegedly allegedly hit man
hitman allegedly alleged. I don't think it's alleged. Actually, there's
time about New Jersey people Joe Jonas proclaiming there was
a murder by the boss that wasn't me attempted and

(16:53):
there is no mob, but there is. There are a
great bunch of guys. I love them, but I love
thee When I hear the waffle I hear waffle House.
The song is fantastic. But I also thinking of all
the TikTok videos where they're beating the living crap out
of each other at the waffle house. There's so many
things they're working something out there. Thank you guys so
much for coming. Thank you. This is always a highlight

(17:13):
for us getting spent time with you. Well, thank you, Nick,
and I appreciate it so much. And listening to you guys,
I mean it sounded so good. I'm now going to
give you the studio version of waffle House. The album
is out next month. Jonas Brothers. Of course, you can
see them Saturday Night Live with Molly Shannon hosting s
n L and also Yankee Stadium. Wait, tickets, how do

(17:33):
you have a pery on you? Yeah? You? Why is
there a pointing? People are pointing, Scotty. Is there a script? Oh,
there's a script. Let's not have tickets. Okay, but where's
the script? Neat has it? I have to read a script?
Apparently there are people we have to think. There's legal sponsors,
like a sausage company is sponsoring. All right, welcome to

(17:53):
radio sponsored by oh tamp brands. This is great. Okay,
here's a script. Hey man, we take money when we
can get it. Z one hundred and everyone listening to
the sound of my voice with a pair of tickets
to see Jonas Brothers Yankee Stadium August twelfth, which is
gonna be way cool. I've got a sneak in if
you call it one hundred eight hundred, two four twos
or one hundred. You win tickets. Tickets drown sale next

(18:15):
Friday through Ticketmaster and what could go wrong? Ticketmaster always
on top of the game. Anyway, you will win tickets
if you call it one hundred, eight hundred, two four
twos or one hundred what how do you rename the show, Joe?
I forgot what you call us. It's the Other End
and the Morning The Morning Zuozo exactly nailed it. You

(18:37):
did totally nailed the radio show, Kevin, Joe, Nick, thank
you for coming in.
