(00:00):
Dan and Shay how are you Heymorning, guys, go to hear from
you. Always excited to talk toyou guys. Brand new song Bigger Houses
came out today. That's the albumas well, titled that came out in
September. Hey, we appreciate it, man, feeling is mutual. Also,
you two are gonna be the newestjudges on The Voice coming up this
spring. Have you guys decided howas a team collectively if you one person

(00:20):
wants someone one person doesn't, isit? Is it a paper rocks?
Is a situation? Arm wrestling thumbmore? How are you deciding? Oh?
Man, you know you're just gonnahave to ten end to find out.
Guys on NBC tonight and Shae armwrestle. That's right, we had
to. You know, it waskind of a learn as we go situation.
But I do know this, ifthe button is pushed, you're both

(00:42):
turning around. So if one person, you know, feels really strongly,
we kind of told each other, like, you know, you get one
of those where you know, ifyou feel so strongly about it, you
know you can go ahead and pushthe button and then the other person's just
you better smile. They learn tolove that person, because whether you like
it or not, you're about toturn around in real dramatic fashion with the
you know, and you're spinning around. So but Dan and I are so

(01:04):
kind of you know, we're dialedin the boys. We're thinking exactly the
same. We know, you know, whenever one person you know likes it
or does it, I can justsee it all over Dan's face. I'm
all right, definitely doesn't like thisone. Okay, he loves this one.
So we're dialed in, Shae,it's otis. I've had you sing
the Dictionary before, so your voiceI am incredibly envious of. So you

(01:26):
being a judge that I'd have tosing in front of would make me so
intimidated. Did you get a littlebit of that? I'm sure you guys
have filmed a little bit. Imean, you're like me doing a science
project in front of Einstein, youknow what I mean. I thought,
for some reason, I thought youwere gonna say in front of Bill n
I. I don't know that's broughtup for my equally as a nerve wrecking

(01:49):
but uh no, man, it'sit's crazy. I you know, I
can't imagine being in their shoes evenit wouldn't matter who you know, the
judge was. I think when you'reput in that position where you standing singing
to these these chairs that are completelyturned around by the way, you know,
it's like, what a wild concept. Riba the Queenna country music.
I'd be very nervous to sing infront of her too, but I'd be

(02:12):
begging you guys like please, Danand Shay, please take me what I
want to be going to do.We're begging them to pick us. That's
right. Bigger Houses is the album. So I'm curious when you moved to
Nashville, what was the original apartmenthouse whatever? It was like, Oh
man, this house that I movedinto. I've told this story a few
times, so I feel like thedetails have gotten embellished over the years.

(02:34):
But it really was terrible. Wefound this house our buddy Andy Albert and
I who we actually wrote Bigger Housesthe song with full Circle Moment. We
you know, we met through mutualfriends. We found this house on Craigslist
for like one hundred and fifty bucksa month, didn't have heat, didn't
have ac the lock, the frontdoor was plexiglass and it was bowed so
you could clearly reach in and unlockthe door. So there was basically no
lock on the door. It wasin a kind of rough part of town,

(02:57):
which has now become like a hip, really cool part of twen But
uh, we moved there and likeit was, it was brutal. But
Shay and I met there. Youknow, we just somebody brought over a
keg of PBR that probably had moldgrowing on it because it didn't sitting outside
for about four weeks. And you'llkill the keg party, dude, who's
gonna take this off our hands?Yeah, we were, we were working
on it for a while and uh, you know that I killed the keg
for sure, definitely. And uh, that was the house we met in,

(03:22):
and it was five oh seven.Morton Avenue was the address if you
want to look it up. Butyou know that it's full circle because you
know the cover of Bigger Houses thealbum, we kind of sort of recreated
that house a little bit, andyou know there's a little number pad on
the front door and it says fiveoh seven, So a little throwback to
our roots where we met and uh, yeah, man, this is a
special song for us and a specialera that we're about to kick off.

(03:44):
Man, it's exactly where we arein our lives right now, and we're
in the spirit of gratitude. We'vegone through a lot over the last ten
years and we appreciate y'all having ourbacks for all that time. And man,
we're just we're grateful. We trulyare well speaking of that, you
guys are a deal. You've beentogether for so long and through that hard
time, you kind of came backto each other because you were spending time

(04:04):
as friends and you realize that thatwas missing. Do you want to talk
about that kind of transformation back toeach other. Yeah, I mean,
I think it's important. I thinkin any relationship, you know, if
you don't work on it. Ithink that this truth has really translated into
our marriages as well, and we'verealized, you know, it takes nurturing,
It takes time, you know,to be able to go out of

(04:25):
your way and just spend time withone another. You know, we for
many years, you know, wewere kind of forced is the wrong word.
It's like, but when you're hangingout, it's like we're always doing
something work related, you know, where it's like, all right, we
have to go to do this andwe've gotta run over here, we've got
to fly to New York, floatLA and do all these things. And
if you're not careful, that cankind of be the only time that you're
hanging out. You know. Ifyou did that with your wife and you

(04:46):
were just like, yeah, we'regonna go. I'll see you at the
kids baseball basketball game, you know, and that was like the only time
that you saw your yah, yourwife, you know, your relationship probably
wouldn't be ideal. And I feellike, you know, we just we
really had to you know, goback to how it was there in the
beginning of like man, let's youknow, not let's get together when we
don't have to get together. Andthat changed everything. You know. We

(05:08):
had a big come to Jesus moment, you know, and kind of talked
everything out and you know, apologizedto each other for you know, really
just the lack of communication over theyears and all of these things and got
ourselves right and we're like, man, let's just let's hang out. And
we started doing that, you know, with with no pressures of like let's
just go hang out as friends, and man, it was just it made
all the difference, and it's it'skind of crazy in any relationship how much

(05:30):
of a difference that makes, youknow. And I kind of brought that
into my marriage of like, man, I'm gonna let's on a Thursday night.
I'm gonna go ask my wife ifshe wants to go to dinner and
go on a date with me exactly. Let's go hit Chuck E cheese,
you know, like without the kids. You know what I'm saying. They
got some good pizza. Dan andh Thank you so much. You guys

(05:50):
are awesome. Hey, I loveyou guys. Thanks for taking the time.
Always will see you, brother.Appreciate y'all. Talk to you there.
