Drumwell Podcast

Welcome to the Drumwell Podcast, where we look at what drummers do away from the kit, in order to do their best behind the kit. We discuss topics such as diet and exercise, warm up, cool down and practice routines, injuries (drum related or those which affect drumming abilities) and how to overcome them, as well as top tips for longevity. "After a recent back issue which at one stage was starting to have an impact on my playing, I went the route of seeking professionals to fix the problem rather than just treating the symptoms. This ongoing process has led to several interesting conversations with my drumming friends and peers about various issues they've faced and how they navigate them. So I figured I would press record on these conversations to share with others out there who may find this interesting!" Thanks for listening! Please leave a rating and review! Toddy. Music: "OUCH (The Back Ache Song)" by Toddy & Squizzy.

In this episode, I sit down with Aussie drumming legend and my good mate Dave Haley (Psycroptic, Werewolves, The Amenta, King, Crisis Act, Abramelin, and more). We dive deep into Daves approach to his extreme style of playing, his routines around practice, diet, exercise and also the ways he's approached injuries.
When I decided to make this podcast, Dave was the guy I had in mind to be my first guest. Over the years he and I have ...

Welcome to Episode 7 of the Drumwell Podcast!

I wanted to go somewhere a little different this month.  I've heard the term "Prehab" being used a fair bit in recent times, and it got me thinking, what if we could target and strengthen areas of our body where repetitive movements cause injuries, well before the injury even has a chance to develop?

The Funtional Movement Training course that I completed a couple of years back was exce...

Happy 2025!

I wanted to start the year by refecting a little on the amazing conversations we had in 2024. The general consensus? Good movement daily is key to keeping our bodies healthy and ready to play! Pair that with a good diet, practice routine and exercise regime, and you'll most certainly achieve being 1% better each day, if not more.

I discuss what I'm trying to achieve to start 2025, and how I'm going to do it. My 30 day ch...

Welcome to Drumwell Episode 12!

This month is an update on my progress during my January Challenge. After a few weeks of 30 plants and 30 movements (of which there were many more in both cases), as well as doing the work behind the kit, both with skills practice, personal practice (for upcoming gigs), rehersals and shows, I've found a noticeable difference in my power and stamina which is what I was going for.

I go through all that I...
