Un-Civil War: The Politics of Violence In America

It was just one week ago today when shots rang out on the campus of Utah Valley University. Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative youth activist organization "Turning Point USA" was on the first stop of what was going to be his organization's American comeback tour. Kirk was shot and killed at age 31. The suspect, arrested days later, a 21-year-old utah man who was charged with aggravated murder. Charlie Kirk was an outspoken supporter of President Trump and was credited with rallying young Americans and others to the conservative movement. Since his death, the national conversation has focused on the increase of political violence and whether something can be done to bring opposing viewpoints to a space of peaceful dialogue.
