Speaker 1 (00:14):
Already Wednesday, final day of the month of April. I
don't know if you heard the dad joke on Friday.
If if April, if April showers bring May flowers?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
What?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
What? What do May flowers bring pilgrims? Anyway about to
be the month of May. But we finish off in style.
First visit with US Congressman Jimmy Patronis. We visited with
him as state CFO for years, but now US Congressman.
(00:58):
I wonder if he's gonna he could regret going up
to Washington. I can't wait. This guy, Jimmy, if you
know him, is unfiltered. He's my guy, like politician. So
we'll talk to him a little bit later. Let's start
with scripture. We're gonna go into Ephesians four. In verse eleven,
(01:22):
it says, and He gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds,
and teachers to equip the saints for the work of
ministry and for building up the body of Christ. I
want to focused on this. God calls people to serve
(01:50):
in one of five ministry capacities. Some don't think apostles
exist any more. I would be very hesitant to call
myself one, that's just yeah. But the point here is
(02:12):
if you look at the ministries here of an apostle,
of a prophet, of an evangelist, of a shepherd, and
a teacher, they're all different, though they all have kind
of a ven diagram feel to them where they overlap
in some regards. But here's what I wanted to get to,
because I think some of us go to church on
(02:37):
Sunday with the idea that Okay, I'm going to get
my dose and I'm good for the week. And what
those Sunday meetings or Sunday night or Wednesday, or whenever
you go to church, or whenever you listen to God's word.
(03:00):
The purpose here is in verse twelve, to equip the
saints for the work of ministry, for building up the
body of Christ. A drill sergeant gets new recruits in
(03:21):
and teaches them, trains them, prepares them for battle. A
pastor's job, a teacher of God's word job. Their job
to a certain extent, there are prophetic voices that are
(03:48):
out there in and out of the church that are
speaking to the things that are happening in the world.
That job is to prepare you, to teach you to
equip you so that you and I can be effective
(04:11):
ministers out there. To borrow from the same analogy of
the drill sergeant, the drill sergeant doesn't go to war.
He prepares soldiers, he prepares marines, he prepares sailors, he
prepares others to go to war. That's the job. The
(04:36):
purpose of the ministry falls on you and me. So
I want to close this by asking the question, what
ministry are you fulfilling? What are you doing to advance
the cause of Christ and to build and enhance the
(04:57):
body of Christ. Sitting in church on Sunday is the
equivalent of going to boot camp. Okay, then what so
what are you doing? Ten past the hour, It's The
(05:18):
Morning Show with Preston Scott. He's finished up a new blog.
(05:46):
Dude I follow on YouTube, had to post his latest video.
It's a channel called I Belong Outdoors. And even though
he's got a brand new boat, he fishes off of
a specially equipped fishing seadoo. And in this particular episode,
he's catching sailfish on his seado Now, not marlin, not
(06:09):
swordfish Marlin. Marlon would probably turn that boat right over,
that that seed right over. But this guy is just
relentless with his fishing off of his seade, and he catches.
He gets too on at once. I question the wisdom
(06:30):
of throwing as many lines in the water as he
has at one time, But he works it, he gets
it done, and he he does catch and release. Usually
he will catch uh and eat swordfish or rather tuna
(06:51):
in particular, and grouper when it's in season and all
of that. But but his catching of a sailfish and
then he grabs that thing by the bill and pulls
it across his lap, It's like, yeah, that's gangster. It
(07:11):
just is. He's got a really cool personality. Good dude,
you can just tell. And he's got you know how
many subscribers now, he's got one hundred and ten thousand subscribers,
which means he's making a little cash. And my guess
is this is what he does. So he makes enough
cash and he's now got some sponsors and he's riding
(07:35):
a boat. That's pretty cool. I mean, it's good for him, man,
I'm all about it. But it just fuels the dream
catching a I don't think I could. I think i'd
throw my reel and rod into the water if I
hooked a marlin. I'd have that, you know the equivalent
(07:55):
of buck fever, where someone sometimes just they freeze, or
they'll throw a gun. They'll throw it at the big
deer with the big rack of antlers. I would just
I wouldn't know what to do. I love fishing. I'm
just no good at it. It's really just weird. It's
(08:16):
just one of those things, and I'm okay with it.
Trust me. Don't email me, oh my captain, or I'm
a captain and I'll get you unfit. I've ruined more captains.
I've caused captains to come to the dock disillusioned with
their entire profession, or they're just shaking their head and
they go, I'm serious. They've said things like, well, I
(08:37):
didn't believe you, but man, you're right. There was no fish.
When I used to pilot a boat, I could put
people on fish. I just couldn't put a line in
the water. I mean, I've caught fish. I'm just bad
at it. I don't know. And what's crazy is I
don't have blacksmith hands. I have a very good golf
(09:04):
game with regard to around the greens and so forth.
I have great touch, but I don't know if I
just can't feel the bite properly, I don't know. I
don't know if I just suck it set in a hook.
No idea, but catching a salefish would like be That
would be enough for me, you know, fifty sixty eighty
(09:26):
ninety pounds max versus Oh, I don't know, one thousand
pounds for a marlin. All right, April thirtieth, what do
we got here? Seventeen eighty nine, George Washington takes off
as first US President. Eighteen oh three, US concludes negotiations
with France for the Louisiana purchase.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Napoleon had to do it at a fire sale, and
we took advantage. What a great deal. We bought the
whole territory for fifteen million dollars. Are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Eighteen twelve, Louisiana becomes We didn't wait long. Eighteen twelve.
Nine years later, Louisiana becomes eighteenth state. It's like no
takebacks we said in Napoleon, no takebacks. It's a state now.
Nineteen thirty nine, Luke Grett plays his last game with
the Yankees, ending his streak of twenty one hundred and
thirty consecutive games played FDR first president to appear on TV,
(10:25):
opening the World's Fair in New York in nineteen thirty
nine and opening up the national day calendar. Today's Stop
Food Waste Day, National bubble t Day, What Yeah, National
(10:46):
Military Brat's Day, National Adopted Shelter Pet Day. Okay, get
some of that there. Adopt a shelter pet please. Seventeen
minutes past the hour, we're caught up. Come back with
Jose and I were just swapping fishing stories. I mean,
(11:10):
I have some. I have great memories of floating down
the Yellowstone River as a child with my mom and dad,
and I want to say one brother with two guides,
floating down for three days catching trout. I caught very
(11:32):
few rainbow trout. Everybody else caught their limit. So my
prowess in fishing was recognized very early in my life.
I sucked then too. I caught mostly whitefish. I did
catch some trout, But what I remember most was floating
down the Yellowstone River. It was just spectacular. It was
(11:53):
absolutely just it was. It was in the fall. It
was beautiful, stunning, even as a kid, just stunning. I
remember that I've been out in the golf plenty of times.
Covered the Bay Point bill Fish Tournament for ABC several years,
(12:18):
and in fact, they arranged for the media to do
a charter and so I I did some charter fishing,
caught a bunch of snapper that was fun. But when
I would go out fishing, I used to have an
agreement with the Freedom Boat Club some of you may
remember that, and they had a they had an outpost
(12:41):
in Carabelle. Sadly the UH we built up that business
so good and it was incredible at the Carabell Boat
Boat Club. I think it was Marina whatever, and it's
just it was just it was spectacular. And so we
had our we could pick any boat we wanted to
(13:02):
take out, and that was part of my agreement with them.
And so I would have center console fishing boats. I'd
have pleasure boats towing people on you know those rafts
that you tow behind you. I mean, it was just
great stuff, a lot of fun, learned how to pilot
a boat pretty well, and and some fun fishing stories there.
(13:26):
Just fun memories. But if I ever got a chance
to do something like this, the good news is you
can catch sailfish just off the coast. You don't have
to go out into mega deep water. For example, this kid,
am Manuel, I belong outdoors. He's catching fish just off
(13:47):
I mean, you can see Miami in the background. It
it's right there. He's on his seadoo and he's catching
sailfish because they swim in relatively shallow waters. So yeah,
you would you want to do the charter boat thing
because the cost of just rigging yourself up with the
right gear to catch a billfish, you'd be better off
(14:08):
buying time on a charter boat, no doubt about it.
You were telling me you got on a charter boat
and hooked a hammerhead. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Were you fishing for sharks or is that just what
you happen to catch?
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Well, you know, I don't want to brag or anything,
but we were having such a good time catching a
ton of king mackerel really yeah. I mean we were
catching a bunch that the captain was like, hey, you guys,
want to watch paint dry and you know.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
We'll sink them down three hundred four hundred.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Feet And we were all like, hey, yeah, sure of
course I was the one that they got the hammerhead.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Hooked on him almost soak me so at that point
after fishing for the king mackerel, you were looking for
hammerheads or sharks. No, No, we weren't. We weren't particularly.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Looking to catch any We didn't think we're going to
catch anything big. Yeah, but we Yeah, we got the hammerhead.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Wow, crazy crazy, all right, real quickly here, National Day
of Prayer is tomorrow. Tell you more about it tomorrow.
But it so make plans if you want to go
to the state capitol. It's happening across the country at
state capitals, and it's at noon, So it's like going
to be a cascade of prayer. East Coast then gives
(15:24):
way to Central, which gives way to Mountain, which gives
way to Pacific time zones. And so there's going to
be like a continuous wave of prayer across this country
at state capitals. The other thing I wanted to mention
is Alexa makes a product that you can plug in
to an outlet and they talk to each other, so
(15:44):
like you could put multiple ones in your office or
in your home and they communicate with each other. And
so what I've been doing lately is walking down the
hallway here and I've been telling Alexa, hey play mercy
me on iHeartRadio. Hey play Hillsong United, iHeartRadio. And so
when everyone comes in the morning, they're getting blasted with
praise and worship and Christian music. It's awesome, it's so
(16:08):
much fun. It's fun to do that. But it's also
now understand it's a little creepy because Alexa is listening
to everything you're saying. Even when you're not talking to Alexa,
it's listening. I haven't heard Alexa go I'm sorry, what
was that yet? But I know that. Yeah. So it's
(16:29):
just something you can do if you like playing some
music around the house and you'd like it to just
be wherever you're walking. Boom. These things are cool. They're little,
tiny little globes, and you can tell to turn the
volume up or down and listen to iHeartRadio wherever you are.
It's brilliant. Twenty eight minutes after the hour. The Big
Stories in the press Box are next Wednesday on the
(16:49):
Morning Show with Whah all right. The Big Stories in
the press Box are always just kind of a snapshot
(17:10):
of things that I think you might want to be
aware of. Sometimes you are aware of these stories. Sometimes
they are bigger stories that are circulating out in the news.
Sometimes they're just a little beneath the surface, not getting
a lot of attention. But I think it's they're worth
knowing about. For example, Social Security Administration, they are announcing
(17:38):
mobile access to physical Social Security number cards. I don't
know what I think about this. I feel like this
is just ripe for people to grab and digitally intercept
(17:59):
these things via whatever. I would imagine that there'll be
some admonitions and guidance on this, but they're going to
be giving beneficiaries digital access to their numbers. They'll call
they call it secure and accessible alternatives to the physical cards.
(18:21):
There are any number of occasions where you need your
Social Security card, but not voting, of course, but we'll
hold that for another time. But I'm just making you aware.
This is just one of those things that you need
to be aware. Social Security is doing this and it
might be very useful for many of you. I don't know.
(18:41):
I you know, my memory my number has been memorized
since I was a child, and I mean literally since
I was a kid. So if that's something for you
to be aware of and it's useful to you, there
you go. I also locked into this story of what's
going on in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Let me quote the
(19:05):
governor of New Mexico, Michelle Grisham, Michelle Luhan Grisham or
lu John Grisham. The situation in Albuquerque has reached an
unacceptable crisis point. We simply cannot wait for traditional solutions
to take effect. Apparently there is an incredible violent crime
(19:31):
drug epidemic breaking out in Albuquerque and police can't deal
with it. So she's called for the National Guard, for
the New Mexico State National Guard to come in and help.
Here's what's interesting. First, this is a year in advance
of New Mexico being part of the Root sixty six
(19:53):
one hundred year celebration. It's a big deal. Root sixty
six is an iconic travel corridor through this country. Songs
have been written about it. Get your kicks on Route
sixty six. I mean, it's and there are efforts to
(20:14):
revitalize towns along Route sixty six across the country. What's
interesting is this is the same governor who just ripped
Trump for using the National Guard to help on the
southern border. So there are a couple things that I
think are worth taking away here. One is the typical
do as I say, not as I do. She's a
(20:38):
Democrat governor. And once again, you've got major cities in
Democrat run states that are hubs for violent crime. And
while there are certainly Republican run cities and states that
have crime issues that it's not even remotely to the
(21:00):
scale that you find in Democrat runs cities and states.
It's just not And so I just think it's important
to note the hypocrisy here. She's calling the National Guard
out to deal with crime, but it's a problem for
the government to use it to deal with the illegal
invasion of this country. Just saying forty minutes past not
(21:26):
a good look. Coming up next, Galveston, Texas Carnival Cruise
Line passengers, dozens of them got into a fight while
(21:51):
waiting to board the ship. It got so bad that
dozens of them have been banned and will never sail
on carnival cruise lines. Good news is there was more
space in the restaurants.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
What a.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
There are some things that are so remarkably go figure
not shocking about this video of this brawl. It's just
children acting like children. Crazy. I've been in that area
at Galveston. Our niece got married back in December and
(22:36):
went on a cruise, and so the wedding was on
the cruise ship, and so I was in that very port.
Just interesting, all right, I mentioned not a good look.
And this is something that I don't know that anyone's
going to ask questions, But perhaps you've seen the story
(22:58):
that USS Harry S. Truman lost a fighter jet. The
they're in the Red Sea dealing with Huthi terrorists and
an Fa eighteen super Hornet went overboard. The plane was
actively under tow in a hangar when the crew lost
(23:21):
control of the aircraft and the jet and the toe
went overboard. No one was injured, no one was lost,
but sixty seven point four million dollars went over the
edge and into the drink. Now this is not the
(23:44):
first lost. Another one in July of twenty twenty two,
and one was shot down in friendly fire in December
twenty twenty four. So all told, let's round this up
to sixty eight million dollars times three, so we're roughly
(24:15):
two hundred million dollars in the water there. I'm thinking
the Russians, the Chinese would probably love to get a
hold of that thing in the drink and reverse engineer.
So I wonder if we're doing anything about that. But
here's here's what really entered my mind. Not so much
the salvage and recovery of the technology. Let's just use
(24:41):
this latest incident. It's in a hangar. How is it
that a toe in a hangar can launch it overboard
and they lost control? Is this? Is this?
Speaker 2 (25:02):
This?
Speaker 1 (25:02):
I mean? Okay, so you've lost two over the over
the edge of the ship, You've lost one in friendly fire,
and all three of these happened with a crew that
was under the auspices of the Biden administration. Because this crew,
no matter what you think of Pete Hegseith, he's going
(25:24):
to get things in order. But this is still crew
that maybe maybe they were trained before under Trump, maybe Obama,
maybe Biden. I don't know, But could a DEI hire
be involved in this? Could DEI and and the waving
of the standard criteria that we've used for military for sailors,
(25:50):
could that have played a role? Could this level of
incompetence be a reflection of the devolution of the military.
It just seems to be I wrote on the rundown,
just not a good look. And maybe some of this
falls at the feet of Trump. But I doubt it
because he's only been president four of the last sixteen
(26:13):
years that have been run by Democrats. I mean, we're
in seventeen years now, five by Trump twelve, and then
you had George W. And George W was a warm
up for Obama. He was not a stone cold conservative
(26:36):
in any way, shape or form, and then before that
you've got Clinton. I'm just saying, there just seems to
be a regression in our overall skill set in the military,
and this just seems to fit sloppiness. That would be
the way I would put it. I mean, I'm grateful
(26:59):
no one got hurt, but ill, that's a lot of
cash that just went overseas or went overboard into the sea.
Forty seven minutes past the hour, the Trump maybe tax
plan next. I'm calling an audible here, but before I
(27:30):
call the play, I want to share this story here.
Donald Trump has talked yet again and has discussed that
quote when tariffs cut in, many people's income taxes will
be substantially reduced, may being completely eliminated. Focus will be
(27:50):
on people making less than two hundred thousand dollars a year. Also,
massive number of jobs are being created, new plants, factories,
appstly true. It will be a big answer for America.
The external revenue service is happening. Okay. I believe, as
(28:11):
I've stated repeatedly, that the tariffs a necessary thing that
had to happen, painful as it is. I do believe
that if if this is his tax plan, it's wrong.
You cannot punish success. You cannot People making two hundred
(28:40):
thousand dollars or less ostensibly would not pay any income tax.
So someone who makes one hundred and ninety nine nine
hundred and ninety nine dollars doesn't pay, and someone who
makes two hundred thousand or more does. I have a
problem with that. That's wrong. So I don't know if
(29:02):
that's what he's actually advocating. I'm all for the elimination
of income tax and going to a fair tax, a
consumption tax model. I've made that abundant and clear. It
works in Florida, it will work nationally. It keeps us
completely out of the loop. It allows the states to
dicker back and forth with the federal government on how
(29:22):
much money they're going to get and how much money
we're going to keep. And by we meaning the state
of Florida or the state of Georgia or the state
of Alabama, or whatever the state might be. But a
tax plan has to be fair. There's certain things that
(29:44):
you just have to get through your mind that are
non negotiable. They just they're not going to move. One
is that businesses don't pay taxes. They charge it off
to consumers just the way it is. You can't stop it.
It's a cost of doing business that passed on to
you and me. So businesses don't pay taxes. People do.
(30:09):
And while discretionary income is greater for those who make
more money, you don't punish that someone who makes one
hundred thousand dollars and pays ten percent is going to
pay more than the person that makes ten thousand dollars
and pays ten percent. There has to be some skin
in the game for everybody if we're going to stay
with a model of personal income tax. That said, I
(30:30):
want to broaden this. I want to take your calls.
They're grading Trump the first hundred days. What grade would
you give him A B C D E F. Let's
go abcd F. We don't really give grades of E.
(30:51):
What grade would you give him eight five zero two
zero five to BFLA. Why would you give him the
grade you're giving him eight five zero two zero five
ninety three p. Fifty two. How's the president doing? It
(31:14):
is the second hour Wednesday of the Morning Show. Jimmy
petronas US Congressman Florida's District one, will join us next hour.
This hour, we're at the hundred day mark. Everyone talking
about the hundred days, which I think was yesterday, and
so the big topic is grading Trump. Everyone wants to
grade the president's job. He has historically negative approval ratings.
(31:43):
I maintain that a lot of people are just a
lot of people that are responding to these polls that
take the time to respond to them, are just sitting
at home watching the news networks, and they're just feeding
them nothing but negative stories. In fact, NewsBusters has documented
ninety two percent of the stories covering Trump since he
took office, or negative ninety two percent. So if you're
(32:07):
just if you're just feeding that to the American people, Yeah,
but there probably is room for some fair criticism. My
question to you is what grade would you give Donald
Trump in his first hundred days? He is doing everything
that he said he would do. Now there's some things
(32:29):
that he didn't say when he ran for president that
I wish he would say, dealing with the debt and
so forth. But I want to know what grade you
would give him and why, And so I've opened up
the phone lines. In fact, I just sort of suspended
this half hour of the show because I was I
was curious as to what you would say. So the
(32:49):
phone lines are open eight five zero two zero five WFLA.
And again, I'm curious to know what is resonating with you,
What is not resident with you? What are you unsure
of the grade that you would give him? Is it
an A? Is it an A minus? Is it a
B plus? Jose was all about triple a's plus plus plus.
(33:16):
I'm not there, But where are you? Some of you
might give him an F. I might think he's failed,
But again it's a it's a simple question. We've got
lines open. I'll give it another couple of minutes, and
if you're not interested, that's fine, I'll move on. I've
got all kinds of things. Like I said, I suspended
what I had slotted for this time in the program
(33:37):
to be able to listen to you. I promise you
this is this is the topic dujuur across the country
right now, the polling is going to reflect what they want,
not what is. I maintain that his actual favorability is.
(33:58):
It's sort of like, how different is it then what
we thought in the going into the election, Well, you
know it's going to be nip and tuck. It really wasn't,
but the polling wanted to make people feel that way.
So we're just taking calls. And again it's a simple question.
What grade would you give him? And why? Let's go
(34:19):
to the phone lines. Derek, thanks for calling in eight
five zero two zero five w FLA is the number?
What grade would you give Donald Trump? And why?
Speaker 5 (34:27):
Well, Preston, I appreciate you doing this, but I absolutely
give him an A for several reasons. Number one, he's
a man of his word, okay, and that is something
that is that America just doesn't have anymore.
Speaker 6 (34:39):
And polls number two, I give him an.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
A, an absolute A. Polls number two. I'm almost sixty
four years old, and nobody ever has asked me what
I think because I'm a conservative male, Okay, So nobody's
ever put me in that poll because it would skew
their results. Sure, being a man of his word, and
here's the thing we've had to rip the bandw off
of some really stupid things been going on our government
(35:03):
for years, and it's going to hurt when you tear
that band aid off, and there's going to people. There's
gonna be people that are hurt. I get that. But
it is for the betterment of all of America, and really,
once we're better, it's better meant for the entire world,
for the economy, for everybody out there. So I give
him an absolute A. And I wish somebody would ask
me some questions off pole. They just won't.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
I hear you. Thank you very much. I appreciate the
phone call. Derek Well said, yeah, I again, we're gonna
go quick. We're gonna take quick break and then Vince
and then deb We've got lines open. Eight five zero
two zero five to BFLA. I think it's interesting. Polling
is going to stay clear of people that they suspect.
(35:47):
Our most polling, now there are exceptions, but you know,
it's a big country, so odds of you getting a
legitimate poll are pretty rare. Anyway, Trump's grade, what do
you give him? And why? Eight five zero two zero
five to b FLA. Ten past the hour. You have
(36:12):
a story you want to share. Write him at Preston
at iHeartRadio dot com. Welcome to the Morning Show with
Preston Scott. I had a feeling you might want to
chat this up a little bit. Lines are busy right now,
but we will take calls, and we will take calls
(36:33):
for another segment after this one. But waiting patiently to
answer the question, what grade do you give President Trump
in his first one hundred days? And why Vince you're up?
Speaker 7 (36:44):
Yes, good morning, Preston, thanks for taking my call. All right,
I agree one hundred percent. I think it was Derek
the last caller. I get a Trump, an absolute ay
with no reservations. I would say a plus, but I
don't want to sound like I'm gushy.
Speaker 8 (37:00):
Sin promises kept.
Speaker 7 (37:01):
The border is closed in what three days?
Speaker 9 (37:05):
Immigration down ninety.
Speaker 7 (37:07):
Eight percent by all accounts. And of course, like Derek said,
you know this trying to rebalance straight that has been
lopsided for fifty sixty years doesn't happen overnight, and it
just frustrates the beams ahead of me that you know,
it's constant negative that the sky is falling chicken little.
(37:32):
The stock market reacts. I believe the stock market looks
for any opportunity in the headlines so that they get
short short, straight, long and option straighters and make a
little money.
Speaker 9 (37:43):
And swing it up and down.
Speaker 5 (37:45):
But that's a separate subject.
Speaker 7 (37:46):
But I give Trump an absolute a of course, the
tariff's don't come with a little bit of pain in
the short term, but I think it's going to be
shorter than anyone thinks and realizes, and the economy is
going to be exploding by the same and half of
this year. The last thing I wanted to say was,
these poles are just like the poles that had Clinton
(38:08):
beating Trump by double digits in twenty sixteen, by like
the trop bowles that I Biden, you know ahead and
we know twenty twenty wasn't anomaly. And also in twenty
twenty four they had Trump behind by some pretty widespreads.
And McLaughlin a great bowler who's on Newsmax last night.
(38:28):
I don't watch Fox News anymore since twenty twenty, but
he explains that the stampling.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Hey, Vince, I gotta go, brother. I appreciate it, but
I can't deviate from the question here. But thank you
very much. I thank you for calling in deb Europe.
What do you, what grade do you give Trump? And
why I give him a solid sea Okay, why?
Speaker 10 (38:51):
First of all, on immigration absolute eight, he has done
what he said he's going to do.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
He's closed the border.
Speaker 10 (39:00):
But as far as Doge goes, I work for a
federal agency. All we've had our threats, We've not seen
any changes at all. I appreciate the fact that they're
finding the waste, fraud, and abuse, but they're not actually
doing anything about it. They need to shut off some
of this money that is flowing unnecessarily. Then we have
(39:25):
the way that he has taken care of world situations.
We'll just say like that. I appreciate that he's looking
at Russia and the Ukraine fairly, treating both sides with
the opportunity to voice their opinions, but we have got
to stop the money. The money is where it matters.
(39:49):
The same with Israel. He talks about wanting to treat
Iraq fairly, and I appreciate that and Israel fairly, but
he's got to shut.
Speaker 8 (39:58):
The money off.
Speaker 10 (39:58):
It's got to end. And that's why I give him
a seat.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
Thank you. Deb appreciate that, I would simply say in response,
Congress controls the money. There's only so much a president
can do. Part of the challenge here is Congress has
to come alongside and ratify by making law some of
these executive orders. Let's fit one more caller here before
(40:23):
the break. Let's go to Chris. Chris, you're up, good morning,
Good morning.
Speaker 6 (40:28):
I would give him a solid B plus, okay, possibly,
And the reason I say that is I think he's
doing a good job. I think he's got some cabinet
picks that are lagging. I'm not real thrilled with Pam Bondy.
You were talking yesterday about the Epstein files, and she
said they're on her desk. I see, I saw where
there were photo ops where people were holding binders of
(40:50):
these things. Ano they're gone. I don't know what happened.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
That's why we're asking questions.
Speaker 6 (40:55):
Yeah, all right, law fair, And what's really killing him
is just I don't understand why he can't ever get
to be president. The constant law fair. And then you've
got a knit which like Judge Napolitano saying things like
he's declared a jihad on the judiciary. And I don't
know if you've ever read any of Napolitana's past words,
but he used to be quite a proponent of freedom
(41:16):
in the American way, and all of a sudden he
has this hard case of Trump derangement syndrome, and it's
just disgusting.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
Chris, thank you, fair comments. I appreciate the phone call. Bob.
You are up next, and what about you. We've got
room for a few more callers. Eight five zero two
zero five to b FLA. The grade you would give
President Trump? What grade would it be? And why? Here
on the Morning Show with Preston Scott. All right, cowboy
(41:52):
Bob is a lonesome cowboy right now, he's the only
one waiting on hold, So we have room for others
if you want to join in. Eight five zero two
zero five to b FLA. We have one very simple question,
what grade do you give Trump? He is really underwatering
the quote approval ratings, in fact historically so. But I
(42:15):
maintain that a lot of the people that fill out
those polls and take the time are people sitting old,
old white people sitting at home watching the cable news
networks and CBSNBC, ABC because they won't pay for cable.
Maybe that's their source. And so if they're just sitting
there watching cable news, or if they're just sitting there
watching the legacy networks, all they're getting is ninety two
(42:37):
percent of the stories are negative. So that's their opinion.
I don't know. That's that's my thought on it. Cowboy Bob,
what grade do you give the president?
Speaker 8 (42:46):
I give Donald J. Trump a triple A plus. Okay,
He's doing an excellent job. And the reason you know
that is because every slimy Democrat is trying to select
under him or bad mouth him in some way.
Speaker 9 (43:03):
And so that's the gauge you can use.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
What is the one singular policy that you think he
has that resonates the most with you.
Speaker 9 (43:18):
Well, the border is the obvious one. But just the
fact that the Democrats would want to bring in criminals
to replace the American citizens, regardless of the danger to
your family, your children, your daughters, tells you everything you
(43:41):
need to know about them. And Trump is fighting that
as hard as you can. And I'm eighty one, he's
what eighty I mean, that's a tremendous load he's burdening.
And so he's working on the economy, the interest rates.
I mean, the guy is doing all the right stuff.
Speaker 6 (44:03):
And we need to support him.
Speaker 8 (44:05):
And I hope people, I hope the Democrats, the voters
will wake.
Speaker 9 (44:10):
To hell up.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
Bob, thank you. I appreciate the call. He's seventy eight.
He'll be seventy nine in June fourteenth, Flag Day, which,
by the way, happens to be the anniversary of the
United States military, the Army, and he's going to He's
going to celebrate that. But people are ripping him because
it happens to be his birthday. Oh he's dooring his
big parade to celebrate himself. No, he's celebrating the military.
(44:34):
Thank you very much, he does. I do want to
have a segment. Thanks for the phone calls, folks. I
want to have some segments devoted to America's birthday party.
We will in twenty twenty six be celebrating two hundred
(44:54):
and fifty years of America. I would love to get
your not today, we'll we'll do it soon, though. I
would love to get your ideas on what a celebration
of America in America looks like. I will also point
out anything we do is ripe for terrorism. People would
(45:25):
want to mar the anniversary of the birth of this
country with some overt act of terrorism. So we'll get
to that. No more calls. Sorry, we're out of time.
Needed you to call a little bit sooner than now,
but we just don't have time to get a call
(45:45):
and get you on the air. We got a minute
left in the segment before we break for news. I
think that the President, I would give him probably a
B plus to an as Gray. There are things outside
of his control that Congress needs to step up and do.
(46:07):
We're watching here in Florida the dysfunction of Republicans, and
so I don't know why I would think that Republicans
from the fifty states could possibly work together any better
than we're watching Republicans in one state not work together.
(46:28):
They have one constitutional mission pass a balanced budget here
in Florida, and they can't get it done because how
Speaker Danny Perez is insisting on lowering the sales tax.
It's foolish. It's just I appreciate the idea of lowering
the tax burden, the idea of lowering it that way
(46:49):
is just misguided. We are one of, if not the
most desired tourist destination in America. Why would you not
have tourists near and far helping to pay to support
(47:12):
the infrastructure that, oh, by the way, they use. It's
not like we're ripping anybody off. They're on our roads,
they're on our sidewalks, they're using our water, they're using
the infrastructures of this state. Heck, yeah, let them pay.
Why would you lower the tax burden and ergo keep
(47:34):
it on the rank and file citizens that live in
this state at a greater percentage than is necessary. It's
just foolish twenty eight past They bottom line, Trump needs
the help of the GOP in Congress or audio magazine,
(47:56):
a journey into whatever is left of journalism and pointing
out and correcting what is not. The Morning Show with
Preston Scott, I could not, for the life of me
remember what I was going to post on my blog page.
I mean, I've got a new post up right now,
(48:18):
a little fishing thing. It's kind of cool. But I
had something in mind, and I didn't write it down,
and I just I consume so much media in the
course of a day. It just got flushed. It was gone,
and I was driving me nuts, and then ah, I
remembered it. I am posting the video of what happened
(48:42):
when a seventeen year seventy year old man challenged Charlie
cook A Kirk to a fistfight. Dude says the Holy
Spirit sent him to fight Charlie Kirk. If you want
to see a seventy year old man act like a
twelve year old in a playground, you have got to
(49:07):
see this. It is breathtaking. So that's going up on
the blog page. That is not among the big stories
in the press box. You know. Obviously right now the
President is battling, as he did before, on multiple fronts.
(49:31):
Congress could really take a load off the administration by
passing some bills. The president is is using the Democrat
tactics here. He is doing what he believes is the
(49:52):
right thing to do and forcing the Supreme Court to act. Now,
his reasons are different. The Democrats believe that they are
bigger than the courts. And I know some of you
are thinking, well, that's what Trump's doing. To a certain extent,
that's fair. But Trump ultimately believes his attorneys believe that
(50:19):
the courts will side with the constitutional interpretations of what
he's doing. The powers of the executive are going to
be defined through the actions that Trump is taking here. Now,
the Supreme Court should be intervening on these district court rulings.
It's not it's not doing near enough. It's not taking
enough of these cases to settle some of these things.
(50:42):
That's not good. But Trump is in essence saying, okay,
for a different set of reasons, I'm going to take
the same tactic democrats. Democrats know that the things that
they're doing are patently illegal. They don't care. For example,
the border. You can't possibly fix what has happened over
(51:05):
four years through the court system. You can't do it.
Millions of people were brought into this country, allowed to
invade this country illegally, and you can't hold a hearing
for each and every one of them.
Speaker 4 (51:20):
You can't do that.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
And Democrats knew it. They were like, they were laughing.
Watch this. The whole goal was to overload the court system.
So Trump has taking the approach, Well, they got brought
in here illegally. We're sending them home and then we
can start over and we get slapped around a little
(51:42):
bit by a court here or there, So be it.
We're getting them out.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
Now.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
It's up to Congress to try to address this, it's
up to the Supreme Court to address this. And I'm
just I don't know how that's all going to shake out.
I heard a callerman the fact that this is this
is a messy job. What's going on right now, the tariffs,
(52:08):
it's a messy job. Shrinking the size of government. You know,
we had one color. You know he didn't he's not
doing enough to stop the money. It's not he can
only stop so much money. Money is handled by the House,
primarily by the House of Representatives, but Congress controls the
(52:30):
purse strings. The president can only do so much. And
so while those who's uncovering these things, systematic changes are
not going to happen overnight, And honestly, I don't know
that I want them to happen overnight because I want
it done right. Anyone who's ever watched the demolition of
(52:52):
a building, if you don't do it right, people get hurt.
You've got to do it systematically, upperly, safely. And I
think there's a way to close down government, to shut
down operations in major agencies. I think there's a right
way to do it. I'm not sure we're engaging in
(53:12):
that just yet. Forty one minutes past the hour, A
very important lesson coming next. Do you remember when we
(53:37):
talked about the shooting at the student union at Florida
State and the video of someone sipping an iced coffee
videotaping someone who had been shot on the ground as
opposed to rendering aid just casually walking by videotaping. And
(53:57):
do you remember the discussion that we had about the
dangers of quote outing somebody. What if you get it wrong.
Remember that the story I'm about to share with you
(54:20):
is now Santa Ana, California, And there's two different points
that I want to make using this story. Forty five
year old Alejandro Alaveros Acosta was arrested and has confessed,
(54:41):
according to police, to a heinous crime set of crimes
animal cruelty. He enticed cats to come to him using
food and treats, and then he grabbed them and killed them,
lots and lots of cats, brutally, horrifically killing these cats.
(55:13):
Now he bonded out and people animal lovers believe they
found out where he was living, and they arrived at
the home. They proceeded to throw rocks through windows and
(55:35):
break down fencing, and when someone approached one of the
gates to close it back up, they pepper sprayed him
in the face, it was the wrong home. The guy
wasn't there, he was nowhere in the area. There were
children in there being scared to death. Now there are
(55:58):
two points here. Number one, w really, this is the
danger of outing somebody, of becoming a vigilante mob, whether
(56:19):
it's through social media or in this case, showing up
at someone's house. But then there's the other side of
this story that has nothing to do with any of
the concerns that I had at FSU. It's this, This
is a horrific crime. And likely this guy's gonna advance
from cats to people because most serial killers, not all,
(56:44):
most have at some point an infatuation which with killing
and torturing animals, and then they progress. Now again that's
not always the case, and so perhaps this is somebody
that is heading there. I don't know, But but think
(57:05):
about the people that have been killed in this country
by illegals, by just other people, and and okay, a
group of cats got people this upset. Now, I'm not
saying that it's a it's a terrible crime, but vigilante
(57:27):
mob justice over animals versus humans. I targeted this story
because I think it is indicative of something I don't
know exactly what other than the sinful nature of man,
on the part of the criminal, on the part of
(57:47):
the people that showed up the angry mob, crucify a crucifier.
I'm just saying, I think there's there are points to
sit back and reflect on in this story, don't you.
(58:11):
Forty seven minutes after the autum, back with more here
in the Morning Show with Preston Skuy ma'am man, ma'am,
ma'am none now, Calm down, Calm down, Calm down, calm down.
(58:40):
She actually hung up on Jose and she says she's out.
She's not like she's listened to yours. But that's it.
She's done. She's all upset, and I I can't understand why, ma'am,
you're upset. The crimes against the cats are heinous. I
(59:03):
use that word. They're despicable, serial cat killer? Are you
kidding me? That's just disgusting. That said, I don't remember
you calling in all angry and upset when we talked
about any number of people being brutally murdered by illegal immigrants.
(59:24):
I don't remember you calling in being upset at any
of the mass shootings we've talked about. I don't remember
you calling in and being upset about anything but the
fact that I said that there were people, maybe like you,
(59:46):
that would go trash someone's home thinking someone who abused
animals was there, and oh, by the way, they weren't,
And you're gonna and and and that I would call
out the terrorizing of children and someone else's the destruction
(01:00:06):
of someone's home, the pepper spraying of someone in the
face for trying to close the gate from from quote protesters,
And you're calling upset about the fact that I talked
about that, ma'am. I mean this in the love of Jesus.
(01:00:28):
You just proved my point and I can't thank you enough.
That level of irrationality is exactly why I talked about
(01:00:50):
that story. And I listen. I everybody listens to this show,
whether you agree with me or disagree with me. But
the fact of the matter is that call bye, don't listen,
(01:01:12):
and please, in the name of God, don't tell anybody
else you ever listened. No, I'm just I'm kidding about
that part, because honestly, you you really you need to
spend some time with the Lord on this because your
heart's not right. And if any of you had that
(01:01:33):
same visceral reaction when I dared to suggest that maybe
people should be caring not just about animals but about people.
You need, you need to have a heart check. You do,
and I'm sorry. I hold up a mirror. I look
at myself, and I also look at people. It's okay.
(01:01:57):
I love you, seriously, I do. And I hope that
the lady doesn't quit listening and is just going to
flame out and get over it and be okay. But
US Congressman Jimmy Petronis is going to join us next.
Cannot wait for that chat back with the third hour
(01:02:20):
of the Morning Show with President Scott. I love my job.
And here we go the third and final hour at
(01:02:42):
least for the day of the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
That's osay. I'm Preston Show five sixty nine, not wasting
a moment of his time. He is newly minted US
Congressman from Florida's first congressional district, Jimmy Patronis, Hello, Congressman.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
How are you, hey, buddy? Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
Okay, let's start here. Was this ever on your radar
of something you wanted, you felt like you were to do,
to run for Congress or was this just circumstances led
to it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
Yeah. I never dreamed about being in Washington, d C.
Had dealing. Really, I figured I'd finish my career in
tell Ahassee. But back in November of twenty four, you know,
Matt leaves the congressional seat to go be Attorney General.
And my phone started ringing And the next thing, you know,
President calls me in November, the day before my anniversary
(01:03:43):
and says, look, he says, if you'll run on doorshef
we want you in DC. And so I mean, one,
how can you say no? But two, I mean my
boys are going to get an experience because they're still
young enough to want to be under the roof with us.
They're going to get an experience on life that they
never would have ever been able to have access to. So,
(01:04:04):
you know, it's if the family wasn't so supportive, I
wouldn't be doing this. But this is this is an
opportunity to save our country at the same time do
something right for my kids.
Speaker 1 (01:04:15):
Congressman, I know that we will have the opportunity to
talk fairly frequently because I just know you to be
that type of person. You're going to make yourself available.
But for those that may not know what the demand
demands are, give us just a quick snapshot of what
your general broad schedule is. Not so much day to day,
(01:04:36):
but how much time up there, how much time back
in district and back and forth.
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
So we are in DC at a minimum of three
weeks of every month. So what this week the plan was.
I got out of home early Monday morning, got up here.
We start with me meetings and briefings. Yesterday was was
(01:05:03):
really one of my first committee meetings since I've been
up here. Uh, and then and then last time. You
got to think about everybody, similar to talent as during
the legislatation, everybody wants to come.
Speaker 8 (01:05:14):
To d C.
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Their issues are important to them. So it's a lot
of folks that come from all over the country, and
we like in my case and the other number two,
we prioritize those folks that come from the district. When
you come from the district in my case, and you
come from from the state of Florida for that matter,
because I've got a lot of a lot of people
that I love. You know, we're we're going to move
heaven and earth to sit down and hear what your
(01:05:36):
concerns are. I got to bed last night about midnight.
I'll wrap up sometime Thursday afternoon evening, and then I'm
going to be in Fort Walton on Friday morning at
seven am for Walton Chamber Breakfast. Make the rounds, visit
with people, and and just continue to hear what's important
(01:05:58):
to them. As we're debating the big beautiful bill. As
Congress is in session, we need to hear input from
from our constituents.
Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
What specifically do you want to hear from them about?
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
You know, I think you know we I don't want
to stir the pot too much. I know there was
a story that popped on Politico last night. As we're
trying to bring some of this stuff in for a landing,
there was a there was potentially of things that could
be interpreted as attacks, and so a number of us
(01:06:34):
started really digging in our heels, you know, because we
didn't we didn't go to Congress to do things like that,
and so you start to work those issues. And even
though in this case, the members did our job as
we started engaging the process, but it's just a matter
of time before we would have heard about it from
(01:06:55):
our constituents. As stories start breaking about potential ways to
try to fill you know, budget needs. I mean, and
here's kind of at the challenge. The President wants no
tax on tipts, no tax on Social Security, now, taxing
overtime and all those costs.
Speaker 8 (01:07:09):
Something.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
The Congress, especially the House of Representatives, we want one
point five trillion dollars in new cuts. So those issues
end up draining reserves and draining dollars that we're having. So,
I mean, it's about bringing this thing in for landing.
And Trump has got everything. He's negotiating globally with tariffs
(01:07:32):
and other ways to try to onboard cash to our country.
So it's it's a full day.
Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
Jimmy Patrons with us. He's the US Congressional representative for
Florida's District one. Congressmen stand by. More to come here
in the Morning Show, twelve past the hour. US Congressman
Jimmy Patrons, Florida's first congressional district. All right, what is
(01:08:03):
the best thing that you've experienced in terms of that
surprised you in a good way, and what's been the worst?
Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
You know, I think the best thing was just being
an all I get to walk to work, Okay, so
my wife found me a basement apartment and I get
to walk to work. As soon as I step out
in front of my place i'm living, the United States
Capital hits me in the face and it just, you know,
it's an all. I mean, it's the single greatest capital
(01:08:34):
in the world, and we've got to work to keep
it that way. So that's the best thing. But you know,
probably the worst thing is how nasty some of the
partisanship can be. You know, I've been in the restroom
business for thirty years. Everybody's a customer, you know, I'm
always a big believer in taking care of the customer.
(01:08:56):
But men, there are some some just people that are
just just damn right disagree, you know, and and the
hateful things that they say, and the and the things
that they do. You know, it's just, you know, everybody
needs to just used to go take a reality check.
People didn't send us up here to be nasty, okay,
And so that that's that's something that will will you know,
(01:09:19):
hopefully change at some point. For right now, it is
the status quo.
Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
Is it too soon for you to render a verdict
on whether or not the Republicans in the House and
the Senate will get the job done and deliver some
of the things that President Trump is done by executive
order and codify those into law.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Yeah, I don't think. I don't think we have a choice.
So you know, a lot of people say, why don't
you codifying the executive orders. Here's the deal. There is
so much bandwidth being spent on the financial side of
things right now, and if there was any problems that
Congress had, because we have both chained, if there was
any problems that Congress had on what the President was doing,
(01:10:04):
we would go and convenient working with specific issues. Okay,
but right now, President's doing what he's doing. We like
what he's doing. President, continue to do what you're doing.
We're going to focus on bringing in your campaign promises
every single day when we meet those campaign issues, those
things that he campaigned on, as we had a breakfast
(01:10:26):
meeting yesterday, is reinforced to the members. So again those
are well and strong, and there's a lot of communications.
The Speaker talks to the President multiple times a day,
so we're all on the same page. And I feel
like all those issues will get you brought in for
our landing in due time. Because we do have the
debt ceiling and continue resolution that it's got to take
(01:10:48):
the priority.
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
When you say all on the same page. You know,
we read about some infighting, some things between the House
Speaker and Representative Leaset, Thefhanic of New York who may
be a candidate for governor. I mean, I don't I
don't want to hear names or anything, but I'm just
curious how much division exists in the party.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Now. Look, here's the deal with the Lease. Elise is
an amazing member of Congress, but she's also somewhat of
a unicorn. That particular seat in New York. It is
it is a it is a Republican seat. Is it
a strong Republican seat? No, but Alase can win that
seat all day long. Okay, So we have got some
(01:11:34):
issues that we've got to get across. The finish one
right now. The stay back that that that creates voter integrity.
The only reason why it passed is because Randy Fine
and I got elected. That's how tight the margins are here.
So the plan was that the Lease was going to
leave when Randy Fine and I got the Congress. Well,
we can't afford for her to leave. And plus you know,
(01:11:55):
You've got a Democratic governor who is not our friend
in New York State, so she's gonna do everything possible
to flip that seat, to allow the Democrats to create
chaos in Congress and derail everything that November was about.
Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
All right, Jimmy standby, We got one more segment to come.
Sixteen past the hour. US Congressman Jimmy Patrons on the
Morning Show with Preston Scott Back with US Congressman Jimmy
(01:12:28):
Petronas for one more segment. Florida's first congressional district, And Jimmy,
I would say that unless someone was elected, from the
world of being a certified public accountant, you were as
prepared to look at the financial issues of this country
as anybody ever by virtue of being the CFO in
(01:12:49):
the state of Florida. How prepared were you, if for
no other reason because of that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
Experience, Yeah, I mean the acronyms, the money, the cash flows.
I did not think I would pick up on it
as quick as I could. So that has been a plus.
And you know, and then it's kind of funny. You know,
we watched the news, but now when I try on
the news and thinking, hell, they're talking about us all
(01:13:17):
day long. So it's kind of interesting how many different
ways we're consuming our news in order to hear what
the public's seeing in order to stay on top of it. So,
I mean, it's constantly information on board from all over
the place in order to make sure we can do
our job. But yeah, the experience in Florida was a
(01:13:38):
game changer.
Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
You and I have known each other a little while,
and you know that I call things as I see them.
I see right now Republicans inside the state of Florida
destroying themselves, which will eventually kill them. And they're super majority,
and eventually majority, it will hurt them not getting certain
things across the finish line, not addressing certain issues. One
(01:14:00):
of the issues I've raised is the issue of employing
illegal immigrants. It's the dirty little secret, Jimmy, that Republicans
talk tough on immigration, but they don't want to deal
with the employment of them, and Florida Republicans are no different.
Can you tell me of federally this focus on immigration
and dealing with illegal immigration specifically, are we going to
(01:14:22):
eventually deal with the employment of illegal immigrants?
Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
Yeah, you know what. We looked some numbers yesterday and
this one thing that has started to grow is sentiment
across the board. Democrats, Independence, Republicans, they want illegals out
of this country. I mean overwhelmingly, that is something that
everybody wants. So this is why you know, the programs
(01:14:46):
at the two fifty seven program, all these different things
in order to empower the states to do their job. Okay,
And and because this issue polls so well. You know,
our state legislators, our governor, our sheriffs, all these elected
now they're hearing more and more. I mean, they would
do the job, but now they have got an administration
(01:15:08):
that wants them to do the job. With the Biden administration,
you know, it was like, you know, hands off. With
the Obama administration, it was hands off, you know. And
I know they talk about, oh there was more illegal
set back under the Obama administration. The Trump administration, well,
whether they're not telling you is the Obama administration was
turning them away at the border. Okay, So this is
(01:15:30):
exactly what's happened now with Trump Trumps. This stuff has
come to a grinding haul at the border, which I
think is important that happens. But now we've got to
start going there and and leveraging those tools like E
verified and you know, and and and we got to
get the bad guys out here. And but Trump deporting
all those guys El Salvador, that sends shock waves through
(01:15:51):
the organized crime industry and gain grain elements of our
country because those guys don't want to go they know
what else Salvador is like, They don't want to go there.
So I mean, you know, I just and it drives
me crazy. Where we have a lot of weaponized court
system just to screw with the president at every turn.
Speaker 1 (01:16:07):
But we're watching big sugar and big agriculture and the
trades donate huge sums of money to Republicans, so they
kind of water things down and look the other way.
And the reality is the people that are committing these crimes,
they are not all just running people and running drugs.
They they're working jobs to support themselves while they commit
(01:16:29):
these crimes.
Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
Sure, I mean, look, there's I was talking to a
fellow member of Congress last night. She said she there
was a constituent her she was talking to who's who, Well,
I guess constituent. They weren't here legally, but self deported
themselves to Columbia. They had they had had a traffic infraction.
(01:16:54):
They felt like, I'm here illegally, I'm gonna get out here.
I don't know what this means. Now that I've got
a traffic tickets, they took off one back to Columbia. So,
I mean, you've got those that are here that you know,
they have blended into society. You know, they've landed the
job that they're paying taxes. I don't know whose social
Security number they're using. It an amazing amount of solid
(01:17:16):
security dollars that are being collected from people that give
us false numbers.
Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
So I mean there's just all types of games that
are out there, and that's why I hated that. You know,
Elon just got really is his teeth kicked in from
just society when the guy was trying to just bring
some damn transparency to a place that has none.
Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
Yeah, fair enough, Congressman, thanks for the time this morning.
I appreciate it. And we're here for you anytime we
can help.
Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
Thanks Preston. Hey, and this want to give a shout
out to Susan Miller. I know she's listening.
Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
Take care, Thank you, sir. Congressman. Jimmy patronas with US
this morning, Florida's first congressional district newly elected. He's the
best expression of a good old boy, and he understands
(01:18:08):
what he's fighting, what he's got to do. Glad he's
on our side. Twenty seven past the Hour, The Morning
Show with Preston Scott. I have big stories in the
(01:18:36):
press box this morning. We've got a couple here. New
Mexico's a train wreck and it is a blue, blue state,
and the governor there, who is very, very critical of
Donald Trump's desire to use military to deal with the
southern border invasion. The governors deploying the National card to
(01:19:02):
Albuquerque to help deal with crime and drugs, violent crime
and drug use, quoting the situation and Albuquerque has reached
an unacceptable crisis point. The state simply cannot wait for
traditional solutions to take effect. Well, wouldn't you think if
it was a traditional solution, it would have I'm just saying,
(01:19:26):
if there was a traditional solution, it wouldn't be used
anyway because you're a Democrat. I don't know how many
examples of this that we need to understand that Democrats
don't know how to deal with things like this because
inherently they don't want to. There's a clear line between
(01:19:50):
supporting law enforcement with specialized capabilities versus using troops to
perform law enforcement functions. Let's just stop for a second
and look at that statement alone. This is the governor
being questioned about. Wait, you were critical of Trump wanting
to use the National Guard or military resources. There's a
(01:20:12):
clear line between supporting law enforcement with specialized capabilities. Who
is supporting? You mean? The National Guard has specialized equipment
and capabilities, and it's okay to use that in support
of law enforcement, but it's not okay to use that
(01:20:37):
to perform law enforcement functions. What's the difference. No, there
really isn't a difference, except that it's a Democrat do
as I say, not as I do. Our operation is
a targeted, strategic deployment requested by local officials who are
on the front lines of this crisis. You mean, like
(01:20:59):
the city's a law on the border of Texas and
Arizona and California and the states that are being invaded.
You mean like that, come on Social Security announcing mobile
access to Social Security card numbers. I'm I'm undecided on
(01:21:23):
what I think about this technology and whether or not
it's wise I just I'm just not convinced that it's
not going to be opening the door to incredible amounts
of piracy. Now I'm wide open to being wrong. Lord knows,
(01:21:44):
we need we need to make things easier, not harder,
to deal with the government and everything dealing with Social
Security is just a disaster. But we need to also
be developing an off roading, an off ramping out of
Social Security. What do you say we start allowing the
(01:22:04):
generations that are now beginning to work to opt out.
See there's the problem because if they do, then all
of their money that they would be paying into Social Security,
which would pay for retiree social Security now and in
the next few years, goes away, which means what the
(01:22:25):
government has to pay it back, pay what back the
money that was used improperly, maybe even illegally. The trust fund,
the bank account where the Social Security money gets deposited.
(01:22:46):
And I can already feel that it's an insurance program.
It's not like any insurance program I know or any
that I have. I don't care what somebody calls it.
It's what it is. It's how it functions. Bottom line
(01:23:08):
is that the money that you put in is gone.
It was not supposed to be spent by anybody but you.
That's why it's been described by many as a Ponzi scheme.
You're just taking money from one person shifting it to another.
(01:23:28):
So the only way you can do what I'm discussing,
which is to allow people to opt out of Social Security,
is to make up for the money that will not
be paid into the system by the government paying into
the system using tax moneies that are right now being
fraudulently spent, misspent, misappropriated, and using that money to replenish
the fund. That's how you do it, and then you
(01:23:51):
get to a point of solvency where you can truly
start weaning people off of it. It should not be
the government's responsibility to see about the retirement of people,
it's theirs. But forty one minutes after get to a
story here that's one hundred percent messed up. Talk about
(01:24:24):
just Collin County, Texas story of a young man who
was stabbed to death at a track meet. You may
(01:24:44):
know the story. It is confounding. Austin Metcalf was stabbed
to death by Carmelo Anthony. And you can say, well, allegedly,
well he confessed, he told police when he was arrested.
(01:25:06):
I'm not alleged I did it. Now. Apparently he walked
over to a tent of an opposing team or something
and Metcalf shoved him, and he did what anyone would
do that's a track athlete. He pulled a knife and
stabbed him and killed him, because isn't that what you
(01:25:29):
do when you're pushed, you kill a person. And what
has transpired since is one of the most sickening indictments
of our culture that I've seen in quite some time,
because Anthony's family is raising incredible sums of money off this,
(01:25:52):
and apparently he's buying themselves a new house, and that's
what some reports are out there saying for his defense fund.
But a judge lowered the bond from one million dollars
to two hundred and fifty thousand. Quoting the judge, the
one million dollars was set too high for someone with
no criminal history. He allegedly killed somebody. So because he
(01:26:28):
hasn't had another crime, we're going to put his bond
at a quarter of what it was originally set up.
Because what why he killed somebody? The Metcalf family has
(01:26:48):
been swatted, which means someone called and called out a
fictitious crime at their place, leading to showing up, and
the hope there by people that call these types of
things is that someone will come outside with a gun
in their hands and then be shot, gailed dead. The
(01:27:11):
judge who lowered the bond has been docksed. That's a crime, then,
I mean, this is just I wrote it down one
hundred percent messed up. And none of this brings the
sun the sun back. He died in his brother's arms.
(01:27:36):
This is somehow the attacker has been turned into a
victim and is raising money and people are funding this crap.
It sickens me. It just does forty six minutes past.
Speaker 4 (01:27:53):
The n.
Speaker 1 (01:27:55):
Come back and lighten things up though it's gross. You know,
we love to give you some helpful hints, some tips,
whether it's traveling across the fruited plain, just sitting down
(01:28:18):
having a good bite at a restaurant. Right, so went
in Sandstone, Virginia. Don't go to Petron Mexican restaurant in
Henrico County. Carletta Andrews was there having a little sip
(01:28:40):
of a drink, little margarita with her husband. She leaned
back to take a sip and then walk. Something hit
her on the forehead and she looked at her husband,
what in the world was that? And then all of
us sudden, she noticed the snake that was in her margarita.
(01:29:07):
A snake fell through the ceiling and into her drink
after hitting her. It does not matter the size of
the snake. It does not matter the venomous or non
venomous nature of the snake. It was a snake and
it hit her on the head and then landed in
(01:29:30):
her margarita, wrapping itself around her straw before being whisked
out of the restaurant.
Speaker 7 (01:29:41):
Owner.
Speaker 1 (01:29:41):
The restaurant downplayed it, saying, ah, likely just came in
through the air conditioning. That do you care? Do any
of you care how said snake entered the restaurant?
Speaker 10 (01:29:55):
Do you care.
Speaker 1 (01:29:59):
About it anything other than the fact that the snake
fell through the roof and into your food, plate, drink, face,
or whatever? Could you imagine an I would be horrified,
she said, she hasn't been able to eat out since.
Wouldn't that be traumatic? Heck? Yeah, would Brought to you
(01:30:23):
by Barono Heating and Air. It's the Morning Show one
on WFLA. I looked back at the program in one
hundred and eighty seconds or less. Good visit with US
Congressman Jimmy patronis a good visit with many of you.
(01:30:44):
We just decided to take some calls and talk about
President Trump's grade. What grade would you give him? Most?
I would say, if I were grading on the curve
based on the calls, it would be an, as there
was a C in there. There was B plus but
mostly a's, and so I would say, as would be
(01:31:08):
our curve. But yeah, interesting calls. Our big story today
social Security announcing mobile access to your card number. Governor
of New Mexico calling out the National Guard to stop
crime in Albuquerque. She's a Democrat who is very critical
of Trump doing the same to protect the border. Interesting
(01:31:30):
how when the shoe is on the other foot. The
principles of governance change. Talked about the dangers that come
when you out somebody and you're wrong. We spoke great
(01:31:52):
caution to all of you about the person sipping iced
coffee while videotaping one of the victims of the shooting
who had been shot and seriously injured. She would recover.
And I contended that the person who did the videotaping
was shamed by friends and others, no doubt had to be.
(01:32:18):
But the bottom line is there were people trying to
out that person publicly, and I pointed out the dangers
of doing so. I was not going to be part
of it. And I shared an example of what happened
in Santa Ana when someone outed as someone who is
charged with some serious crimes against animals. But the problem
(01:32:41):
is they weren't in the home that they were allegedly at,
and so they terrorized innocent people and children. Talked about
the Trump tax plan. Not a fan of it if
it's going to treat people making less than two hundred
thousand dollars differently than people making more. And then the
(01:33:01):
bad look of losing a seventy million dollar Navy fighter
over the rail into the Red Sea covered a lot
of other ground as well. We'll do it again tomorrow.
Cannot wait. Have an awesome day, friends,
