Speaker 1 (00:12):
All right, this is going to be interesting today. Good
morning friends, Welcome Tuesday, May twentieth, Show fifty three eighty
three of The Morning Show with Preston scottis Ose. I
am Preston, and I will do my very best, but
I'm going to put a lot of burden on you
(00:32):
to carry this show later on. All right, expected guest
Kat Camick cannot join us. The President has asked for
the Republicans in Congress to meet with him, and so
I suspect this is a rally to get his big
beautiful bill passed, which I have great concerns over. There's
(00:57):
some wonderful things in there, but it will in fact
lee to in place of Congresswoman Camick, who will be
with the President. We will uh, we will take your
calls in the third hour. I'll explain more a little
bit later. But I I left here yesterday feeling terrific
(01:19):
and ran about, you know, town, running some errands, and
then started feeling a little scratchy in the throat. And
normally I have a protocol that I go to that
works brilliantly, but not so much this time. So I
don't know where my throat will be and my voice
(01:40):
will be in two hours when we start hour number three.
But we're going to do our best, and so hang
in there, everybody. Romans fifteen five and six says, May
the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live
in such harmony with one another in accord with Jesus,
that together you may with one voice glorify God and
(02:06):
Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. May the God of
endurance and encouragement. See when words like that precede a
challenge admonition, maybe it's it's as if we're being reminded,
(02:34):
you need encouragement and you need endurance to do these things.
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to
live in such harmony with one another. To live in
harmony with one another and understanding now in accord with
Christ Jesus. It is speaking to Christians. For Christians to
(03:03):
live in harmony with one another, you need endurance and
you need encouragement. We try to provide the latter. We
try to encourage, and sometimes the encouragement comes in the
form of challenge coin. You can do this type thing,
(03:26):
But the idea is to live with one singular voice
to glorify God. Now that to me speaks to the
importance of sound doctrine. If you've got a group of Christians,
(03:46):
if you've got a group of people claiming to be
Christian saying one thing doctrinally and another group claiming to
be Christians saying another thing doctrinally, that is not one voice.
That is confusion. And that is why I am always
(04:11):
going to try and present the idea that you need
to know and understand God's words so that you can
test and approve for yourself what is true, what is accurate.
There are certainly areas of scripture where you can have
a good discussion and some might say this is what
(04:32):
it means, and some might say this is what it means,
and they don't really conflict with each other and their principle.
They're just different interpretations on some of the extraneous points.
There are other pieces of scripture that there's just there
is no room for interpretation other than what we know.
(04:57):
We know that Jesus is the son of God. We
know that he is the Word of God made flesh,
that made his dwelling among us. We know that only
through him is eternal life. There is no other path.
All paths don't lead to God. Scripture says just the opposite.
This is where you get in one accord. You agree
(05:18):
on the fundamentals of scripture and faith. Ten past the
hour and off we go. Tuesday in the Morning Show,
Monica mcgeiber, representative from New Jersey. Charges have been filed
(05:43):
against her. She calls them purely political. Girlfriend. You need
to look at your video because you were engaged in
writing and assault. O man oh Hakeem Jeffries. The criminal
(06:04):
charge is extreme, morally bankrupt, and lacks any basis in
law of fact. Extreme. Oh my, it is not lost
on the American people that Democrats are fighting for gangsters
and violent illegal immigrants as opposed to their own constituents.
(06:31):
Oh well, all right, it's May twentieth. Let's take a
peek here. Fifteen oh six. Christopher Columbus dies in Spain,
believing his journeys to the Americas where the east coast
of Asia. Wow, talk about getting turned around. He went west,
(06:55):
but he thought he had gone so far west that
he ended up east. That's nuts. That had to be disappointing.
Maybe showing up before God, Hey God, and see what
I did? I discovered Asia? God's like, dude, you went
(07:21):
the wrong way. Look, I'm proud of you. You hung
in there, but you didn't discover Asia. Eh what do
you mean? Uh? Oh, well, at least he died thinking
he did. Eighteen sixty one, North Carolina seceeds from the Union.
(07:43):
Eighteen seventy three, Levice Strauss receives a patent for his
denim pants with copper rivets. I think he would be
ashamed of what's happened to his company. I do all
I can to avoid buying Levi anything. I think I
have some cargo shorts, but I buy Wrangler jeans because
(08:05):
they're American and they're not politically woke like Levi's. He
would be heartbroken. I know, because Joe Biden knows him,
Joe Biden said. Eighteen ninety nine, taxi driver Jacob Jerman
becomes the first driver to be arrested for speeding. He
(08:29):
was going twelve miles an hour. True story, that's true,
going twelve miles per hour and Lexington Avenue in New
York City arrested. Charles Limberg takes off on his historic
transatlantic flight in nineteen twenty seven. You gotta see the
video of that takeoff. He could barely get that thing
(08:51):
off the ground because it was carrying so much fuel.
I don't know how he flew. He could hardly see
a thing. How did he navigate.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
It?
Speaker 1 (09:05):
To me? It's just an amazing accomplishment. Thirty three and
a half hours, one person. Nineteen thirty nine, regular transatlantic
airmail service begins. So twelve years later, the flight of
the pan am Yankee Clipper from Port Washington, New York
(09:28):
to Lisbon, Portugal, airmail had begun. There you go real quickly.
It is national keichhe Lorraine day, keiche Laurie eh National
sugar bee apple Day. Never heard of it? What's a
(09:51):
sugar bee apple? Developed by honeybees? A honeybee was flying
through orchards collecting polland the bee transferred pollend from an
unknown apple variety to a honeycrisp apple blossom, and the
(10:12):
sugar bee apple was born.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
How about that?
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Go god? National Streaming Day, National Rescue Dog Day, and
National Pick Strawberries Day, National be a Millionaire Day. Hey,
I'm down for that. It don't work, all right? There
you go, seventeen past the hour. Got to start getting
(10:38):
you ready for Dad's day next. Juck Schumer blamed McDonald
Trump for the Mexican sales ship losing power and crashing
into the Brooklyn Bridge. That's Trump's fault. Well, you know what, Chuck,
(11:07):
My favorite basketball team is the Phoenix Suns, and it's
your fault. They suck.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
That's as nonsensical as what he's saying. He can be stupid,
so can I. I have a plant that didn't grow
in my yard. It's Chuck Schumer's fault.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Okay. You know if I walk around saying stuff like that,
people just pat you on the head and okay, whatever
you say. Oh my hey, Father's Day is coming up,
and I said, I'm gonna help you out, and I
mentioned yesterday Kevin's. Get the Kevin's catalog. It's a good
(11:52):
place to start. I came across seven high tech fishing
gadgets of the modern angler. There is a fishing line
winder that you can get for thirty bucks. It attaches
(12:16):
in such a way that the line spool is held
and you put your reel just like you would on
your rod. You just fasten it on there and then
you just start winding. And it's incredible. It's so simple, like, yeah,
(12:37):
there you go, put your lying on there. By the way,
I saw a dude, I showed Jose I belong outdoors.
This guy named Emmanuel goes fishing off Florida's coast. I'm
not sure where he's originally from. He's got a little
bit of a cool accent to him, might have a
(12:58):
little Jamaican vibe about him. And he's catching salefish on
twenty pound test on light tackle sailfish. I watched him
do it, catching mahi mahi. Unbelievable. Let's see what else here.
(13:18):
We've got the sonar fish finder. You throw this thing out.
I think you bring two real rods and reels. You
throw this thing out, and it's a fish finder. It
just feeds right to your phone. It bluetooths to your phone.
It's incredible. There is a vehicle rod rack that literally
(13:47):
it attaches bi suction cup to the windows on the
back of your suv or whatever, and then your rods
and reels are stored being suspended from this thing. There's
the smart fish bite alarm. It attaches to your rod.
(14:09):
It's thirty nine thirty five bucks. And when you get
a little bite, when the line feels a little something,
it chirps, gives you a little hey hey, hey, hey, hey,
you sit that hook. This is a little price here,
(14:33):
the Smart Fishing Reel. It's three hundred and fifty bucks.
Connects to your smartphone. It keeps track of all your
casting data, number of casts, average distance, retrieve speed, more.
It's kind of a training type thing and it eventually
helps you cast better.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
I guess I probably wouldn't buy that.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
It's just me a underwater fishing camera literally just right
under the water, and it's like having a little mini
gold GoPro under the and it streams to your phone.
But my favorite, just because it's cool, is the thirteen
(15:21):
hundred dollars Swell Pro Fishing drone. It's it's more it's
designed for professional fishermen to a certain extent. But this
is like Lifeguard orange and it can drop five pounds
of bait. So you fly this out there and it
(15:45):
drops bait in the water away from your boat so
you're not disturbing. And if it, for some reason has
any issue and you're like, all of a sudden, you
get a bite, boom, you hit the button. It flies
right back to you automatically, and if it loses battery power,
it drops in the water and floats. It's waterproof, so yeah,
(16:10):
just say it. That's kind of cool. And look and
if you don't use it to drop bait, drop a
sandwich to your you know, your kids in the backyard.
Make a sandwich, put a little bag, fly it out
to the kids. Drop it here, got eat, here's lunch.
(16:33):
That's brilliant. That's what you do. Twenty eight after the hour,
Gift ideas here in the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
Totally off topic here, but that's what I do. Licorice, root, marshmallow, root, fennel, fruit,
(17:07):
orange peel, cinnamon, bark, lemon peel, lemon, myrtle leaf. These
are the ingredients in my organic throat Coat tea, along
with lemon echinasia. I am. I am in my protocol
(17:32):
here to try to keep my voice from sounding ridiculous,
but I gotta tell you, you let that stuff get cool
room temperature, it's like it's like drinking dirt. Oh man,
(17:53):
I had to heat that. I had to heat my
tea back up in the break because, oh my gosh,
it was just it had cooled down way too fast
and it's got to be hot. Squeeze a little honey
in there to make it as palatable as possible. Look,
throat Coat is an amazing tea. It is the go
(18:16):
to for singers and speakers, anyone who talk. If you're
a teacher and you don't know about throat coat. It's
made by traditional medicinals. It's all organic teas. And I'm
not a tea drinker, but a colleague of mine years ago,
(18:37):
better than twenty years ago, shared this one with me
and it has been a go to ever since. But
it's tastes terrible, it's awful. It's just not a pleasant
tea to but it gets it. It does its job,
throat Coat. So there you go. Republicans get this now
(19:02):
lead in fifty nine of sixty seven counties in Florida.
They have now overtaken Democrats in Miami Dade County. That's incredible.
In fact, so bad are the Democrats right now? So embarrassing.
(19:24):
In Miami Dade, Republicans followed by other, followed by Democrats.
Democrats are last, no party affiliation minor parties, the other
(19:45):
category actually has more registered voters than Democrats. And yet
they still don't get it. And I'm certainly not going
to help you because you're wrong on policy. You're just
like Republicans in that there's some good people there. You're
(20:08):
just wrong on policy. There are Republicans that are wrong
on policy. But right now Republicans have a statewide lead
of one point twenty nine million voters and it's growing.
It just keeps growing. Incredible. Trump had his phone call
(20:30):
with Putin, felt so good about it. He then placed
calls to Zelenski of Ukraine, the President of the European Commission,
the President of France, the President of Italy, the Chancellor
of Germany, the President of Finland, and he even even
(20:52):
said that the Pope was interested in hosting peace talks
between Ukraine and Russia. Hey have some canolis. Forty minutes
past the hour, come back with more.
Speaker 6 (21:10):
It's the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Yeah, tellassy listeners, we're trying to figure out what's going on.
Why the new weather forecasts are not popping into place. Apologies,
I'll help you out. Today's forecast hot with continued hotness
(21:41):
throughout the week. Now you know what, it reminds me
of George Carlin's hippie, dippy weather man. It's one of
the George Carlin doing the newscast as part of his
comedy routine, is just classic today's forecast light with scattered
(22:05):
darkness later in the day.
Speaker 7 (22:13):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
I think one one line he used was to paraphrase
with something like downtown it's hot, Downtown's on fire man,
they're burning it down, or words to that effect. Um,
let's take a peek here. What do we got? Yep,
(22:35):
it's gonna be hot, so they need to come. Got
some email. Love to read your emails, Preston at iHeartRadio
dot com. Sometimes I get links. I don't reply to
everybody anymore because I just I can't. I reply to
as many as I can. There's some that just send
me something and I'll give them a thumb I'll give
you a thumb up a little heart. Oh I love this,
(23:00):
or you know, celebratory fireworks, because wow, that's worth celebrating.
Post here sent to me. Have you noticed that illegal
alien gang members have standing in the Supreme Court and
citizens even states challenging the stolen twenty twenty presidential election
didn't have standing. Odd it is. It's a great observation.
(23:28):
That's Steve Ferguson online on x that was sent by listener,
and then this was sent by Paul and he just
simply wrote, what a joke and in the subject it
is credit score and climate change. This is from walb
dot com and it's a CNN story. People looking for
(23:53):
homes and areas traditionally hit with severe weather could be
hit within the wallet unexpectedly. A new report out from
First Street, a climate risk financial modeling firm, says credit
scores may be affected higher and lower if potential climate
disaster risk is taken into consideration. Let me tell you
(24:17):
if if a credit score takes a hit, a credit
score takes a hit because of acts of nature, what
happens in the weather? Oh, now I will find an attorney.
It's crazy. The report says some mortgage lenders could be
(24:41):
leery about granting policies to home seekers in areas likely
to get hit with wildfires, hurricanes, and tornadoes. So, okay,
Florida's out with hurricanes, as is Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas,
California with hurricanes as well. Right, Georgia with hurricanes, North
(25:04):
and South Carolina with hurricanes. You could extend that up
the East coast a little bit. Yeah, that would be
a little sketchy. But what about tornadoes? So all of
Middle America? What about what about California. You've got hurricane potential,
you got wildfire potential, you got earthquake potential. So are
we gonna Are we gonna see credit scores impacted in
cal I think not. I think not. This is this
(25:30):
is this is the fallen world we are in. We
are in this world, we are not of it. I
always remember that. Forty six minutes after the hour, come
back and uh yeah, interesting resignation with CBS News. You
(26:03):
might have missed the note early in the program, Kat
Camick will not be able to join us, something about
having to meet with President Trump. Whatever, like okay, fine, fine,
you meet with the president. I'll talk to the people.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
Now.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
She's awesome, and this is why we schedule her twice
a month. Sadly, we're a donut for the month of May.
We got nothing. But that's what happens. You're a member
of Congress. You get a call, you say, hey, the
President wants to meet with us, meaning Republicans. He's trying
(26:46):
to shore up support for his bill. The problem is
his bill does not My opinion is the problem is
that the bill does not deal with the spending and
the debt and the deficit. Is we just we can't
keep making excuses. Well, it's our guy, so we can
keep spending. No, we cannot. No, Congress has the power
(27:13):
of the purse string. Spend money where it's needed. You
start with defense, you get to the promises made like
Social Security, You get to the programs that we help
people with. You eliminate the fraud, the waste, the abuse,
(27:34):
and then you start, I'm sorry, we don't have the
money to run these government offices. We just don't. We've
got to close them down. We cannot afford that. Oh well,
you know, the court cannot make us. I'm really puzzled
by where we are with the courts. No, you have
to keep those people employed. No you don't, No, you don't. Now,
(28:01):
Congress may have to take action. It might not be
through executive order that you can get rid of an
agency of government that the Congress put in place. I'm
sensitive to that argument, if that's the argument, But no, hm,
I am not accepting that. So in the third hour,
in place of cat Camick, I'm going to ask this
(28:22):
question fill in the blank. I love what President Trump
is doing, but I wish he would what what you know? Mine?
Mine's all about taxes and spending. Taxes and spending. That's it.
(28:45):
I love everything else he's doing. I love the direction
he's going with the taxes, but we need to just
get it done, get it done. And this is where
Congress comes into play. President needs to set the course
and demand that Congress get alongside. Let me tell you something,
if Trump really advanced a plan to change the tax
code in a way that makes sense, and I'm sorry,
(29:09):
just burdening people making two hundred thousand or more to
pay the taxes for everybody else does not make sense.
That is not acceptable. Just isn't It's not right. But anyway,
the head of CBS News has quit, Wendy McMahon. There
are some that think it's it's because of the lawsuit
(29:31):
that Trump has filed. He's Trump. He's filed a twenty
billion dollar lawsuit against Paramount, the owner of CBS, for
deceptively editing the sixty minutes interview with Kamala Harris, and
apparently the company wants to settle CBS News. The head
of it, Wendy McMahon, does not look they cheated, They
(29:55):
committed fraud. Now, it would be hard to me, it
would be a hard case to make to a jury.
That the president was damaged when he won the election,
wouldn't it? I just I think it would be hard.
CBS damaged itself. They basically damaged Kamala because by editing things,
(30:24):
they just showed what an absolute and income boop she is.
But anyway, it's fraud. They committed fraud. That that might
be a more appropriate thing to have the discussion about.
But it's just interesting. Hey, when we come back, if
you're doing any traveling, I came across a list of
scams to watch out for whether you're traveling domestically or internationally,
(30:48):
and some places and some things to be aware of.
That just blew my mind. And I'm going to share
it with you next second hour Tuesday, here, May twentieth,
on the Morning Show with Preston Scott. About five minutes
(31:13):
after the hour second hour of the Morning Show with
Preston Scott, I will I will disclose on the front
end here. I have become a very picky traveler. I
have zero I fly if I absolutely have no other choice.
(31:34):
Otherwise I'm not flying, just not It's not worth it.
It's just not worth the headaches that come with trying
to fly somewhere and Honestly, it's one of the reasons
why I'm okay living where I live, because I don't
use the airport enough to where it matters to me
that I have to that flights are difficult, it just
(31:57):
doesn't matter. I'm not going on cruises because I don't
want to be locked on board a ship with a
bunch of people. And I know, now, a river cruise,
maybe there's something different about a river cruise. First, you're
not tossing back and forth, you're just not and usually
(32:23):
it's just a much more leisurely kind of adventure. And
so that would be something that would be now I'd
think about that, I would think about that. But I
came across this in Epic Times, and it's travel scams
to watch out for. Sometimes you're not really paranoid out there,
(32:45):
there are people trying to screw you over and take
your money, and this particular article dives into it. It
dives into some things that you ought to think about.
Number One, book your vain vacation with a legitimate website.
(33:07):
A lot of people book vacations online very successfully, but
if you don't know who you're working with and you're
just searching price, you could be in trouble because online
scammers know what you're looking for. You want to go cheap. Huh.
(33:28):
Scammers create fake vacation websites. It looks similar to a legitimate,
popular site, but if you look carefully, there are always
little things that are tells. You know. We talk about
how you know a scammer email sometimes by just looking
(33:50):
at the at the return email, it's just weird. It's
like fIF bar four four five seven five three five
at humanhama dot com. Okay, that's probably not legit. There's
incorrect grammar, words that shouldn't be misspelled or misspelled. Trip
(34:17):
price will be excellent, but you can't find it anywhere else.
It's a red flag. Book vacations through reputable channels. If
you aren't familiar, type the site name, listen site name
and the word scam. You can also type the word
(34:40):
review such and such site name review You'll you'll you'll
get some tips. Now, what's interesting is there are some
specific online scamming destinations. According to cybers security company McAfee,
(35:03):
the top five US destinations for travel scams Fort Myers Beach, Florida, Sandusky, Ohio.
I think that's the home of Cedar point or six Flags,
Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania, Waima is at Waimea, Hawaii, and Chicago.
(35:34):
Those are the top five destinations that people get scammed
trying to go to Internationally. The top five travel destinations
that are scam focused Berlin, Cyprus, London, Paris, and Rio
Rio de Janeiro. So make sure you are using legitimate
(35:58):
travel agents and or legitimate websites to book vacations. But
that's just part of the story. When we come back,
when you get to wherever you're going, no matter where
you're going. Next on The Morning Show with Preston.
Speaker 6 (36:15):
Scott, Welcome to the Morning Show with Preston.
Speaker 8 (36:22):
Scott, I called it.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
It's exactly what he's doing. He's calling for the Republicans
in Congress to support his bill. I hope, I hope Kat.
I sent a note to Kat and I said, stand
strong for US conservatives wanting an end to deficit spending
and no plan to pay back and pay down the debt.
(36:57):
Stand strong, Kat, and as a matter of principle, does
not support reconciliation bills. We'll see where this goes. Can't
keep making excuses, we can't keep doing it all right
back to travel. I'm looking at an epic time story,
and listen to this. No matter where you go, whether
(37:23):
it's in America or whether it's international, assume someone's gonna
try to cheat you, and I know it stinks. I
don't want to go on a vacation and think I'm
being scammed everywhere I go. Well, you need to, sorry,
listen to some of these stories. They suggest, do not
(37:44):
bring out your wallet. No credit cards or cash unless
unless you are like in a reputable store, you're paying
at the checkout. But even then, be careful. They suggest
using a mobile payment app on your phone because you
(38:08):
never show anyone where you're keeping your wallet. This is
what's key. Listen to this. Seemingly helpful locals will warn
you to keep your wallet safe, and then they steal
it once they know where you keep it. Or they
may steal your wallet and bring it back to you
as the superhero. The cash will be gone, so they're
(38:30):
going to direct you to an ATM, where then they
steal your pin. You're at a popular tourist site, someone
stops you and asks you to sign a petition. While
the petitioner pretends to be deaf. They will then ask
for a donation. But all this is going on to
distract you. Someone is trying to pick your pocket or
(38:56):
you'll give them a donation, and now their accomplice knows
where you keep your wallet, so you reach in. You
show them where your wallet is, and now they know
you are now targeted. An innocent person like a child,
picks up a ring, ask you if you dropped it.
Then they look closely at the ring and show you
(39:17):
the mark that says it's gold. The scammer then offers
to sell it to you for a low price. It's
not gold, don't buy it. These are things that happen
that are documented. You're being jostled in a crowd, someone
spills something on you, They feel bad, They try to
wipe off their patting you down. Cashiers pretend to be
(39:39):
talking on the phone when they take your credit card.
They're snapping a photo of your credit card, so you
tell them put the phone down. Put the phone down.
Cashiers will do a slow count when giving you change back.
They hope after pause that you're just going to get
(40:01):
impatient and pick up your change, which you will be shorted.
Friendly local tells you the attraction you want to seize closed.
Then they're going to guide you to a different attraction
or shop where you will be scammed. This is all happening,
and you know what, this just stinks. But guess what,
(40:25):
And this is something jose and I have been talking
about and breaks today. Forgive the coarseness of this, but
generally speaking, people suck. We're just we are a sinful lot.
(40:46):
Go back to biblical times what Jesus do when he
entered into Jerusalem. He went to the temple because it
had turned into a den of thieves. As I'm reading this,
the jostling in.
Speaker 9 (40:59):
The pick pocket and hey, you would have buy this?
Hey you want to come here and buy this?
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Is it any different than what Jesus was mad about
at the temple?
Speaker 9 (41:09):
People being scanned? Hey, I like your donkey? Huh?
Speaker 5 (41:21):
I give you these chickens for that donkey. No, they're good,
they're good egg layers, trust me. Come on, that's who
we are. We stink.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
So if you're going on a vacation this summer, if
you're making some trips, just be smart, be vigilant, carry gun,
have a good time. Seventeen minutes past the hour, have
someone got got your six? At all times? Box Fans,
(41:59):
Box fans, box fans, box fans, box fans, Panama City.
Let's start with you. I know, I know it's early
in the morning, but hey, you're come on now. We
are we're teaming up with Shane and Doctor Shane and
(42:20):
Tess over there on PAP and asking your help. And
we have partnered as a group with the Bay and
Walton County ACE Hardware Stores. ACE is the place with
the helpful hardware folks. Okay, so we are asking you
(42:44):
to go to A's and buy a box fan and
leave it there. Tell them it's for the Bay County
Council on aging that the Morning Show with Preston Scott
has asked for you to come and buy a box fan.
So if you would buy a box fan and leave
it there at your ACE Hardware store, that would be awesome.
That would just be incredible. We are we are, We're
(43:09):
shooting for three hundred and fifty box fans. That would
be our goal here in the Tallahassee Big Bend area.
We are shooting for three hundred and fifty box fans.
That is our stated goal. We are partnering with Westminster
Oaks and reminding you that this is a need. Senior
(43:31):
adults are oftentimes on a fixed income, and as the
temperature goes up, they can't drop their thermostat down. Their
thermostat has to go up. They can't leave it where
it's at in other times of the year because their
air conditioning will run too much and they cannot afford
the bill. So here's what they do. They bump the
(43:51):
thermostat up to say eighty five eighty four. I don't know,
but they need a box fan because it circulates air
and it is a huge difference maker. It's a need.
It's not a want, it's a need, and so if
(44:15):
you can help us, we're starting to see some box
fans build up here. We have two drop off locations
here in town, our building on John Knox Road, just
during business hours and PEPSI Distribution Services Refreshment Services PEPSI
thirty nine to nineteen West Pensacola Street. They've been cool
(44:37):
and they have offered to be a drop off point.
So if you're in the southwest side of town or
south or west, that might be a real convenient locations.
Or if you're just running some errands and you're driving
by the area, there you go. But let me very
politely say this as well. We don't need little desk fans.
(44:59):
We had someone dry up off some small, little eight
inch fans, and we appreciate it, but that's not going
to get it done. We ask for box fans because
it specifically moves a volume of air that is useful.
And so while I appreciate it, those little fans that
(45:22):
won't get it done because we're trying to circulate air
through an entire room, not just to point it at
the face. All right, So box fans want eighteen twenty
five bucks somewhere in there. Lasco's make them. I mean,
there are a few brands out there, but Lasco's the
most notable brand. So we're doing it through another probably
(45:47):
another another week or so, so if you can, if
you can help us out, we'll draw it to a
close next week. But we would greatly appreciate your help.
All right now, kat Camick cannot join us in the
third hour. She is going to be meeting with the President.
The President has asked the Republicans in the Congress to gather.
(46:11):
He's trying to drum up support for his big beautiful bill.
I'm asking you to replace the congresswoman by answering or
filling in the blank. And here's the statement. President Trump
is doing a wonderful job. But the one thing I
(46:32):
wish he would do is or what I wish he
would do is And it could be policy, it could
be just something else. I don't know. But how would
you fill in that blank? What is the one thing
that Trump is not tackling that you think needs to
(46:55):
be tackled. You could argue, I'm sorry, you know this
is Congress's responsibility and not the president's. Fair but the
president determines the agenda and what he wants Congress to
focus on. Is it women in sports and protecting their spots.
(47:17):
Is it getting that done so that there's a law,
and if it has to add to the Supreme Court,
so be it. We get it settled. Is it tax policy?
Just want to know what you think We'll do that
next hour twenty eight past the hour, Big Stories in
the press Box coming up.
Speaker 6 (47:34):
Next Thing Show with Preston Scott.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
I got bad thought my news Radio one hundred point
seven double usla'g be.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
There thirty six minutes past the hour. I should have
done this before we came back live. Sorry, hold on,
I did that just to illustrate. I'm drinking some tea,
(48:20):
just trying to keep the moneymaker looped up with my
throat coat. Got my throat coat. But welcome friends to
the second half of the program. I can't believe we've
already gone through half the show. As bad as I'm feeling,
I'm feeling pretty good, which is, I know, remarkably oxymoronic.
(48:41):
But I am a moron. So it's okay. Republicans meeting
with the President. He is trying to convince them to
support his big, beautiful bill. He has plenty of support,
he just may not have enough of it. My question
for you, because kat Camick won't be joining us next hour,
(49:02):
I will be asking you. Okay, you love a lot
of the things that President Trump is doing, but one
thing I wish he would do is That's what I'm
gonna ask you in a half hour. What do you
wish he would do? M I have a list, and
(49:25):
and I know what some might be thinking, You're impossible
to please. Maybe, but I think what I have a
concern about is more important than everything else we're talking about.
You know, not to belabor. You know, President Trump had
(49:46):
a good call with Vladimir Putin, so he says. He
announced it on truth Social pumped it out two hours
of chat with Vladimir. Mister, we must, we must talk
about things, and so Trump talked about detailed. It was
very happy with the call. Hopefully it will lead to something.
(50:08):
Peace would be lovely. Republicans have taken the lead in
voter registration in Miami Dade County. Now, so we picked
off Hillsborough County. It flipped red now Miami Dade. That's
fifty nine of sixty seven counties are red. That's good
as long as Republicans don't screw it up. Elected Republicans
(50:32):
could screw this all up by being jerks. And I'll
be honest with you, they're heading in that direction. But
the reason why I want to back up to my
concerns about what we're not addressing is it you know,
Chuck Colson once told a group of young people, you
(50:54):
make one big decision your whole life. It's not are
you going to college, It's not the career. It's not
who you're going to marry. It's more more important than that,
it's are you going to serve Jesus? Are you going
to be a Christian? Because his point to this, I mean,
we're talking tens of thousands of young people. It was
a youth Congress event and a Christian event. And he said,
(51:18):
because that decision is your filter for all of your
other decisions. It's fundamental. Am I going to do this? Well?
Are you a Christian? Am I going to do that?
Speaker 8 (51:29):
Well?
Speaker 1 (51:29):
Are you a Christian? You see my point? So in
that with that mindset, I look at the debt and
the deficit. If it adds to the debt, no, If
it's deficit spending, no, sorry, no, nope, that's my filter.
(51:53):
And so unless we have a plan, and I can
buy into a plan that says, here's what we have
to do. We have to spend a little more now
to achieve these savings next year and the years beyond.
This is our glide slope. We have to do this
to get this done. To do that, I'll listen to that.
I'm not convinced, but I'll listen to that because it's
(52:16):
based on to me, what's most important. We have to
cut the debt. None of this matters. If we go bankrupt,
it doesn't matter. So that's just my thing. What's yours?
Will take your calls in a little while. Forty one
(52:36):
past the one come back. We'll talk about Israel for
a moment.
Speaker 10 (52:41):
This is Stunning The Morning Show with Preston Scott on
News Radio one hundred point seven WFLA.
Speaker 1 (52:52):
All right, this is a story from town Hall. This
is the headline Israeli Minister Trump a miracle for Israel,
broader Middle East. And it talks about him going to
(53:12):
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, reiterating Iran can never
be allowed to have a nuclear weapons program, et cetera.
The Minister of Culture, Mickey Zohar, President is a true
miracle for Israel and a true miracle for Middle East.
(53:38):
But inside this story is what's described as an eloquent
analysis of the impossible dilemma that Israeli leaders face, and
it's offered by Elon Levy, former government spokesman. These are
(53:59):
his words. Right now, there are up to twenty three
living hostages rotting in the dungeons of Gaza, where they
are being starved, tortured and even sexually abused. There are
also thirty five bodies of hostages Hamas has already murdered,
using as chips to torture their families. We need to
(54:22):
get them all out. They could have been any of us.
It could have been me or my friends. Families ripped
out of their beds, youngsters kidnapped from a music festival,
young conscript soldiers seized from defensive posts. Hamas is demanding
a ransom for their release. It is demanding the release
(54:43):
of thousands of convicted terrorists and an end of the
war with international guarantees that it can remain in power.
There is a horrific debate in Israel about whether we
can afford this ransom. The Net and Yahoo government has
decided we cannot. Many Israelis think we should pay it
anyway to save them. It is insane that we're having
(55:06):
a debate about the price of our fellow citizens' lives.
But Hamas is demanding a price, so we're forced to
decide what it is. He goes on to speak to
the fact that he said, if I were in power,
I would pay the ransom, but he acknowledges we are
simply for example, a thousand soldiers were released, terrorists were
(55:29):
released for one one one hostage, and he acknowledges we
are dealing with the reality that these terrorists will come
back when they're ready and do it all over again,
and we will have sent the message that we will pay.
But he shares with unbelievable pain, the reality that but
(55:56):
these are hours, we do not leave them behind, get
them back and deal with the consequences later. This ransom
comes at a cost, he writes, and at this point
it is worth hammering. The terrorists we release from jail
will take hostages in the future because we are showing
(56:16):
it works. There is reason most countries don't pay ransoms
to terrorists hostage takers. Hamas will conclude the world will
keep saving it from the wars it starts because it's
human shield strategy, will be vindicated because it will take
hostages again, knowing this is our Achilles heel, and we
(56:39):
want this to be the last guys of war because
we're sick of war and want no more fighting. It's
just not true, as some have written, that total victory
is some far right fantasy. The policy of containment that
NETANYAHUU led before the war failed. We're not going back
to it. We cannot live with this terrorst state on
our borders. The next war is a matter of time.
(57:05):
He then writes, So why am I conflicted? Because I
think everyone is right. I think the minority of hostage
families supporting military pressure are right that this is the
only leverage we have to get our hostages back other
than paying the ransom that leaves it in power. And
(57:25):
I think the majority of hostage families who say that
a military campaign endangers the hostages are also right. Hamas
could conclude that the hostages are worthless and execute them
like it has executed so many before. He concludes war
as hell, we didn't want this war. We didn't start
this war. We didn't even expect this war. But by God,
(57:47):
we have to win this war or there will be
a next worst war, which we don't want. And that
means all the goals of the war, defeating a Maas
and bringing back the hostages. I pray that our soldiers
and hostages returned safely and that innocent people caught in
the crossfire escape it. The top leaders of the Palestinian
(58:13):
Islamis group Hamas, launched their attack on Israel on October seventh,
twenty twenty three, aiming to torpedo peace negotiations between Israel
and Saudi Arabia. According to minutes of a high level
meeting in Gaza, that Israel's military set. It discovered in
a tunnel beneath the enclave. That's why they did it,
(58:35):
to keep there from being any level of peace between
the Saudis and the Israelis. I just thought that was
a fascinating set of insights from someone in Israel who
looks at the scenario and sees it unwinnable on all sides.
(58:57):
It begs the question, what is the right answer? Forty
eight minutes after the hour, come back with manly minute
more on the Morning Show with Preston Scott. One of
(59:20):
the things I was going to talk to Congresswoman kat
Camick about who was running the country. Don't you think
we really need to find out? It's absolutely clear Joe
Biden was sick almost completely during his entire term in office.
(59:42):
There's no way this cancer diagnosis just jumped up in
the last ninety to one hundred and twenty days. Even
doctors that MSNBCCNN are pulling on the air saying, yeah, no,
this has been He's had this for a while, and
I want nothing but the best for From that perspective,
I hope they're able to treat it and you know,
(01:00:06):
lace some immunotherapy in there and boost his system. But
I do want him held accountable for his actions when
he was occupying the office, and so I think that's
an important thing we've got to get to the bottom of,
is who exactly was running this country and so anyway,
(01:00:30):
but that's what we won't talk about next hour. We'll wait,
we'll get to it. We'll get trust me, we'll get
to it when we talk with Kat in June. Time
for a manly minute mail by birth man by choice.
These are virtue skills, et cetera. To teach your son
so that you can look at him one day and say,
youse are our man. Now. We talked last week about knots,
(01:00:53):
learning how to tie different knots. Can I tell you
one of the most important knots to learn how to
tie a fishing knot? Man, You don't want to drop
eight bucks on a good lure. Ten bucks, throw that
thing out there and then watch the lure go another
(01:01:14):
one hundred feet because it just came untied from your line.
Does that sound like the voice of experience? Does it
sound like something that, oh, I don't know may have
happened to me? Not at all. No, take those knots
that you're learning and teach your son, some fishing knots.
(01:01:38):
Tie that line on properly. A fishing knot is a
thing of beauty if you do it right. I just
have no clue how to do it right, just saying,
so there you go, hey, when we come back, phone
calls now eight five zero two zero five to WFLA,
fill in the blank. President Trump is doing a great job.
(01:02:01):
But one thing I wish he would do is what
do you wish he would he would do that he's
not doing. Love to hear from you. Eight five zero
two zero five WFLA eight five zero two zero five
ninety three fifty two. Well, I'll tell you what, compared
(01:02:28):
to the way I felt when I woke up this morning,
I am feeling awesome. Welcome to the final hour, at
least for today, of The Morning Show with Preston Scott
and in place of Congresswoman Kat Camick, who extends her
sincere apologies, but she felt like she needed to sit
(01:02:49):
down with President Donald Trump with the other Republicans instead
of talking to me. I said, it's okay, Kat, it's okay.
I understand. We'll have her back in June for a
couple of scheduled visits. But I must now focus on
what we are going to talk about. And I am
(01:03:09):
asking you to join me. This is an unscheduled time
for you and me to converse, to engage in some
clever repartee. And I have a simple question I'm asking.
I want you to fill in the blank and and
maybe you wouldn't even be able to agree with I
(01:03:32):
like a lot of what President Trump is doing, but
one thing I wish he would do is eight five
zero two zero five WFLA, what what is your blank filler? Richard?
Speaker 7 (01:03:45):
Hey, morning Press that morning? Uh, well, I'm like you.
I mean, I'm similar close to your age, Yes, And
it's the deficit. And my theory, my thinking is I
don't have to worry about it as much as my
children and my soon to be grandchildren are gonna have
(01:04:08):
to worry about it. And I just don't understand why
Trump didn't do anything in the first term and why
he's not doing anything. I love what he's doing, yep,
I love him as a president, but but this is ridiculous.
You know, when I first voted in nineteen eighty for
I wonder what the devisit was the because it wasn't
(01:04:29):
nowhere near this.
Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
Oh no, yeah, no, we are. We are in uncharted territory.
Remember now, George Bush, George W. Bush took over a
balanced budget. Yeah, and it has gone exactly k new
Gingrich who will have on the show next week or so?
You know, he was, he was the guy, the speaker
(01:04:51):
of the house when we had the contract with America.
We need something, we need something like that.
Speaker 7 (01:04:57):
So was it down to zero's in?
Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
No, No, I don't think so, but it was. It
was probably in the billions versus the trillions. But I
think that's a fair that's a good question to ask,
and I think we'll do a little research on that.
Speaker 7 (01:05:11):
Well, I'm just I'm worried about my children, That's what
I'm worried as pressing out.
Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Thank you so much, absolutely, thank you. I appreciate you
calling in and breaking the ice, Richard. And it's real simple.
You'll maybe you love what he's doing, maybe you don't,
And so maybe you're going to say the one thing
I wish you would do is stop blah blah blah
blah blah whatever. This is your time. Eight five zero
two zero five WFLA, Michael, what do you think?
Speaker 11 (01:05:38):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (01:05:38):
My number one thing is the deficits bring it down
and then but it's all tied to everything. If you
have a balanced budget, I say, have a constitutional amendment
for a balance busman budget. States do like Florida does,
and look at the states who don't, like California and
all that.
Speaker 7 (01:05:56):
Job.
Speaker 12 (01:05:57):
But everything is all tied to it. If you keep
print money, it devalues it, which means more inflation, which
means you have less buying power. And people can't understand that.
And I always tell people, well, you got to live
within a budget. You can't print money when you have it. Yeah,
you can run up your credit cards and guess what,
there's going to come a time when you're going to
have to pay it back.
Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
You know, the deficit is only one part of the equation, though,
isn't it. It's the deficit and it's the debt.
Speaker 12 (01:06:25):
Yeah, it's the deficit and the debt. That's I mean,
that's all it's trying to explain. Is it's all tied together. Yes,
it is, And you can't separate one from the other. No, no, no, no.
Speaker 13 (01:06:34):
No, You've got to look at all of it.
Speaker 12 (01:06:36):
You got to look at your spending, you got to
look at how much your revenue is taking and we're taking.
Speaker 9 (01:06:40):
In plenty of money, Yes, sir, we are.
Speaker 12 (01:06:42):
It is you have Democrats and squishy Republicans that like,
oh well, we need to raise it, We need to raise.
Speaker 13 (01:06:50):
The debt ceiling.
Speaker 12 (01:06:51):
I would like to have everybody call their congressmen and
their center and say, you don't vote for this. You
tell them to strike that out of there, and say,
you know what, We're guys have to live with their means,
just like the American people who are struggling after four
years of brain dead Biden trying to make it and
get by.
Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
I think that's the answer, Michael, is we have to
do what every single taxpayer has to do, live within
their means. Period end. If there's one dollar of deficit spending,
you're adding a dollar to the debt. So it's not
just about bringing down the deficit. To me, it's ending it.
(01:07:30):
There is no deficit spending, and then you start paying
down the debt. Eight five zero two zero five to BFLA. Matt,
then Ron, what about you? Eight five zero two zero
five to WFLA. I love what President Trump's doing, but
I wish he would fill in that blank. Friends. More
of your calls next on the Morning Show.
Speaker 10 (01:07:57):
It's the Morning Show with Trustan Scott on news radio
one hundre at twenty seven w FLA.
Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
What is one thing that Donald Trump is not getting
done that you think has to get done? There's no
doubt that there's a lot of things to like. I
maintain the debt and the deficit is singularly the most
important because it is what determines everything else. We can't
(01:08:31):
keep borrowing money because it's our priorities. It was wrong
under Obama, it was wrong under George W. Bush, it
was wrong under Donald Trump. It was wrong under Joe Biden.
It is wrong now. It is wrong. And I'm not
(01:08:55):
gonna just because I'm worried about losing some innergy. I'm
not if I lose interviews by being critical, Okay, I'll
live with it. Lord knows. I've lived with not having
any Florida state lawmakers on because I think they suck.
They don't have any courage or backbone. And there you
(01:09:16):
mark my words. They keep going this direction. If this
extends beyond this leadership, pair this cowardice, it will start
showing up in elections in Florida. Democrats will start gaining
seats back you mark my words. But we're asking you
what you think about Donald Trump, and one thing you
(01:09:36):
wish he would focus on Matt.
Speaker 11 (01:09:40):
Well phone cameras and spam calls. I'm over it.
Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
How many do you have to dodge a day?
Speaker 11 (01:09:52):
I mean it's horrible. Three to four yep, and that's
not counting the texts. I mean, the way our FCC,
our technology is so advanced, why can't we just find
they need to be fined. I mean, it should be
an FCC regulation. And I think we're failing the company
(01:10:12):
or failing the public. I should say there's companies that
could take care of this. Look at all the old
people that are older people that are getting scammed. Yes,
it is horrible.
Speaker 1 (01:10:21):
Tens of thousands of dollars are being scammed out of
individual senior adults checking accounts, saving accounts. Tell me this
and I don't have time to answer this crap. Well,
maybe you have time to answer this crap. How do
you handle it when you get that one? Too many call?
Speaker 11 (01:10:46):
I quite answer to them, and I think I think
they go away when I quit answer them. But you know,
I've got one of those alarmed alarm rings, you know
that wakes up the non living. Yeah, and it's very Yeah,
it's I'm a open.
Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
Everyone's silence got you, Matt, Thanks very much, appreciate the
phone call. Eight five zero two zero five WFLA. We've
got room for callers here. I've got another segment to go, Ron.
What are your thoughts on this? What's one thing you
wish Trump would do?
Speaker 14 (01:11:14):
Good morning, President, Thank you for letting us talk. And
Michael had a good point. We got to balance the budget,
and it's great. How you just come out and say, yes,
they suck. Okay, be blunt about it, but how about
giving them money away to other countries. We're not spending
money giving other countries money, We're just giving it to them,
paying Ukraine's you know, social programs and their government payroll
(01:11:38):
and all that. How about if we just stop giving
away all the money that we give away would help.
Speaker 7 (01:11:43):
It's not going to fix it, but it would help.
Speaker 1 (01:11:44):
Okay, fair enough, Ron, Hey, thank you appreciate the phone call.
We got one more segment to take calls. It's a
very simple question. You may love what President Trump is doing,
but you wish he'd what What are your thoughts or
can he do no wrong? Remember now, I am not
(01:12:08):
in any way shape or form a never trumper. Good grief. No,
he got my vote the last two presidential elections, last three.
Speaker 6 (01:12:17):
He got my vote.
Speaker 1 (01:12:20):
But I'm not an always trumper either. There are things
he needs to do better or differently or focus on.
That's my opinion. What's yours? Eight five zero two zero five.
WFLA got an email coming in. Ryan writes regulations tariffs
(01:12:54):
without getting rid of ridiculous regulation is just the tax
on the American people. Thank you very much. Taking calls
A five zero two zero five to b FLA. You
love what Trump is doing, but Bob, you're up. What
do you think?
Speaker 15 (01:13:10):
Hey? If he would just stop lying, Breston, just stop
the lies and tell the truth.
Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
What's you lying about?
Speaker 16 (01:13:20):
I want?
Speaker 15 (01:13:21):
That's all I want because right now this coast is
getting ready to go into a down spiral and you
need a you know, hunting gatas is easy if you
trust the leg or a harm or something, but I
can't take the lies. Just be honest and tell the
American people what you're gonna do.
Speaker 1 (01:13:43):
All I ask, Okay, I'm, i'm, I'm. I'm struggling with
you saying, I mean, that's fine if you believe that,
but what are the lies that he's saying.
Speaker 17 (01:13:53):
The lies that he is saying is about that you
claim this is a Democrat, the elected the president, and
we support that. But he keeps supporting Putin than anything else,
(01:14:14):
and he will always say, let me talk to Putin
is gonna mess up this country and mess up his legacy.
I think keeps going on this down spiral.
Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
All right, Bob, but thanks very much. I appreciate the call.
I'm not disagreeing with you on propping up Ukraine to
try to make a deal, and I don't think he
needs to do that. But I don't agree that he's
just kissing up the Putin at all. He's he's in
fact boxing him into a corner. But that's just my opinion.
But I appreciate your call. And uh and I always
(01:14:46):
love hearing about alligators from you. I don't know why, Brian,
you're up, good, good? What do you think? What's the
fill in the blank for you?
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
I would like I would like to hold all the
people accountable had anything to do with the Epstein Island
whole ordeal. I feel like its just so there's a
lot of stuff that hasn't come out yet and it
needs to.
Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
Fair enough I appreciate that. Yeah, I had not you
know what, that kind of slipped my mind. There are
some things that we were promised we would know that
we don't know yet. What's the hold up. Let's go
to Bill. Bill tell me what's the one thing you
wish Trump would do that he hasn't.
Speaker 16 (01:15:38):
Hey, good morning Presson everybody else. I think we cannot
trust Congress. We need a balanced budget amendment locked in
so they can't just keep spending. The only carve out,
maybe if there was going to be a carve out
is if Congress authorized war and we had to go
to war like a World War three, and we had
(01:16:00):
to spend money. I can see that. The other thing
the last caller said, until high level officials go to
prison for their misdeeds, this kind of stuff is going
to keep on happening.
Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
Exactly right.
Speaker 16 (01:16:15):
Those would be my two things that he needs to
hammer on. God bless him for doing what he's done,
But he's got three and a half years to send
senators to prison and get a balanced budget amendment.
Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
Yeah, Convention of States is where that lies, and that's
where there's an effort to force that upon Congress to
make them do it. I completely agree with you on that, Larry,
you are up, what do you think well dressed?
Speaker 13 (01:16:46):
I think that Trump is trying to do the best
you can, and I really think he's doing a good job.
Speaker 7 (01:16:52):
But you've got.
Speaker 13 (01:16:52):
These rhinos and corrupt politicians have got to go, and
I guess he's got to do the best you can
to make a deal with some of them to get
this first big, beautiful bill pass. But then you got
to start reading after rhinos, and then you can have
tackled the budget and some of the big deficits and
(01:17:13):
things that need to be gone. But he's in a
bad spot. But you can't get guys by Chip Roy
and guys the good some of the good guys that
are going against y'am on this bill that you got
to start with, and then you've got to read out
the rhinos and the corrupt Democrats.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
Thank you very much, appreciate that. One more call here
at Edward. Edward, you're the final caller. Good morning.
Speaker 18 (01:17:37):
Yes, due to gas and grocery's expenses over the last
four years. Remember we got a check for COVID. Well,
Biden hurt me more than COVID. Should I be expecting
a check?
Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
So you're are you asking Trump to deliver a check
because of Biden?
Speaker 18 (01:17:55):
Yeah, wouldn't it be nice?
Speaker 1 (01:17:58):
It certainly would Edward, Thanks very much. I appreciate your calls. Friends,
just thought it would be good to get a snapshot
of what you're thinking. I think it's important that we
are holding Republicans equally accountable as we would Democrats, and
(01:18:19):
that includes Donald Trump. He's doing a lot of good things.
I want to hear the plan to cut the debt.
I want to know we're ending deficit, spending ending it not.
I just needed one more no, no, no, no, no,
no no, But that's me. Twenty seven past the hour,
(01:18:40):
come back with the big stories in the press box.
It's the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Thirty six minutes
(01:19:09):
after the hour, got a note from a buddy that
asked if we could maybe tackle the topic of the
New monetary MMT. MMT is the Modern Monetary theory, new money,
(01:19:36):
the new money theory. It's it's a suggestion that any
government that has its own currency doesn't need to worry
about debt. Just print more money, except that's what is
getting us to a collapse dollar. The more you print
(01:20:01):
any form of currency, the less value it has. Why
does a Honus Wagner baseball card go for an insane
amount of money because there's only a couple of them,
and so it's whatever someone is willing to spend for it.
Dollars retain their value because they're limited in circulation. When
(01:20:23):
you print money, you get to countries like we see
across the world, where you need four hundred thousand of
something to buy a bag of skittles. It's absurd. Anyway,
that's a very crass, condensed version. There are lots of
(01:20:45):
things that explain it far better than I But the
dams have fully embraced this idea. Bernie Sanders AOC are
out there talking about this isn't an issue. Debt spending
isn't an issue. There's no such thing. We'll just print
more money. It is a disastrous course a fiscal policy,
(01:21:13):
but at any rate we will. We will at some
point get somebody on from Heritage to discuss. Speaking of tomorrow,
Hans von Spakowsky, I'm gonna ask him some real pointed
questions about the makeup of this Supreme Court. I have
a theory that I'm starting to become more comfortable with
(01:21:40):
that I don't like that I'm becoming more comfortable with,
but is very, very plausible. What if in Trump's first term,
where we know he was surrounded by Obama's right, what
(01:22:03):
if the people advising him on who to pick for
the United States Supreme Court were giving him faulty advice.
What if instead of real originalist jurists we got a
bunch of John Roberts that could go either way, because
(01:22:28):
we sure seem to be having some problems with reliability
of rulings, and they should be reliable. You should count
on activist judges being activist judges and originalists being originalists.
And if you don't know that a judge is an originalist,
they should never be considered for a Supreme Court appointment
(01:22:49):
if you're a conservative. I just I want to get
Hans's take on that. But we will also talk about
the most consequential rulings that we've had and will have
in the coming weeks, because the month of June is
when the rulings really start falling out. This president is
(01:23:10):
having unprecedented numbers of things come before the Supreme Court,
and I believe most of it's by design, not all
of it, but most of it. Anyway, those are not
the big stories in the press box. I'll get to
those real quickly next here in the morning show. Hright,
(01:23:49):
the big stories here real quickly. Before we get to
something else that I need to remind you of. Republicans
have taken the lead in Miami Dade County. So now
we've we've gotten Hillsborough taken care of Miami Dade. That's
now fifty nine out of the sixty seven counties are
register have registered more Republicans than Democrats.
Speaker 9 (01:24:16):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:24:19):
And in fact, in Miami Dade, Democrats trail other it's Republicans,
NPAs and others and then Democrats. That's how much they're
falling out of favor. And at no point, and this
is just staggering to me, at no point is leadership saying,
(01:24:40):
you know, maybe we're wrong about some issues, because they are.
And if you're a registered Democrat, you just are. You're
wrong on fiscal policy, you're wrong, on issues of life,
you are wrong, on immigration, you are wrong on so
(01:25:06):
many on on law and order, you are wrong. It's
just wow. Wow. And Donald Trump has uh had his
(01:25:29):
call with Vladimir Putin, and so yeah, we'll see where
that leads. I have no prediction on it. I just
I don't know. You know, you got to have two
(01:25:49):
people to fill out the dance card, and UH and
Russia and Ukraine both have to decide they want peace,
and both sides will have to negotiate a peace. They
will have to both agree to certain things. There's a
complexity to this. It's not as clear as some people
want to make it. It never is. I mean, it
(01:26:14):
really never is. It's always about borders and historic lands
and whose historic land is it? So Box fans mentioned
it last hour. I want to remind you again this
hour we are looking for Box fans in both of
(01:26:35):
our listening hubs in Tallahassee. I want to thank our
friends over Westminster Oaks and our friends at Pepsi Refreshment
Services or Refreshment Services Pepsi take your pick Pepsi on
(01:26:57):
pets Cool Street, thirty nine nineteen drop off point, as
is our building here on John Knox Road. The left
side of the building is where you would come to
to bring fans. There isn't somebody here all the time
during business hours, and so just do your best and
(01:27:18):
hopefully we'll have somebody here when you ring the bell.
I just explained to somebody on an email post, COVID man,
everything's changed. We don't have regular people in regular capacities
doing what they used to do prior to COVID. Staffing
has changed, and so our ability to do things like
(01:27:38):
this is just very different. I apologize now. In Bay
County and Walton County, you got it. You got it man,
Just awesome there, because all you have to do is
go to an a hardware store, buy a couple of fans,
buy a fan, and leave it. How simple is that?
Huh So? Yeah, so that's what we need to do.
(01:28:07):
We're gonna distribute the fans and get them to people
that really really couldn't use them, and so if you
can drop them off, that would be great. We're going
to run out another week, ten days and draw this
particular make a Difference campaign to a close. Forty six
past the hour, It's The Morning Show with Preston Scott.
(01:28:50):
All right, before we wrap up the program here, South
Carolina Resorts says it's already got a one hundred and
sixty one people signed up to run in their annual
five k race. The Carolina Foothills Resort, Spartanburg County, the
(01:29:15):
Buck Creek streak five k, one hundred and sixty one people.
Here's what makes it unusual. Clothing is optional. You see,
the resort is a nudest resort. I wrote in the rundown,
(01:29:47):
who wants to watch this? I don't want to be first.
I certainly don't want to be last, and I don't
want to be anywhere near it. I wouldn't want to
watch me run naked when I was fit and young
(01:30:12):
and And the reality is most nudists are really kind
of probably not the type of people that no, you
don't know. No, some of you a m would saying, well,
how do you know that? Because people that that that
are into that lifestyle, they just have a certain way
(01:30:38):
about them. You know. You see interviews that that people
do with folk. Hell, so and so has had a
newdiest beach and we stopped by, and of course they
put a talent on for us to talk to them,
and it's like they're like they're just no, no, that's
just here's what I'm hoping. I'm hoping mosquitoes are out
(01:31:04):
like crazy. Come on Spartanburg County, Carolina Foothills. Yeah, you
run that race June fourteenth. Maybe a nice downfall of
rain the day before, nice and muggy and mosquitoes everywhere.
Speaker 10 (01:31:23):
Yeah, it'd be awesome. Brought to you by Barno Heating
and Air. It's the Morning.
Speaker 6 (01:31:29):
Show one on WFLA.
Speaker 1 (01:31:34):
All right, look back at a program in one hundred
and eighty seconds or less much less. Today we started
with Romans fifteen five and six. Big stories in the
press box. President meeting with the congressional Republicans trying to
get him to pass his big, beautiful bill be to
the third Power is not what it needs to be.
(01:31:55):
I'm with the conservatives holding out. I'm not going to
be mad at him. I would say, go back to
the drawing board, bring me a budget where we're not
deficit spending and when we're not adding to the debt,
and then I'll vote for it. President Trump is making
enemies with people. He doesn't need to make enemies, and
(01:32:17):
he doesn't need to characterize people that disagree with him
on this issue as being cowards or anything. This is
where Trump Trump's immaturity shows up the worst or the most,
depending on how you want to look at it. Republicans
have taken the lead vote in the voter lead. I
should say in registrations in Miami Dade. That's now fifty
(01:32:41):
nine of the sixty seven counties covered. A lot of
other material, took a lot of calls. Tomorrow we'll do
it again. Getting a lot of interesting emails on things
we talk about here in the program. Tomorrow, Hans von Spakowski,
(01:33:02):
we'll talk about the Supreme Court. It's gonna be an
interesting conversation. We haven't talked to Hans in a minute.
Animal Stories tomorrow, and I'm gonna be here. I may
sound really bad, but I'm gonna be here. Folks, have
yourself a blessed day.
