Speaker 1 (00:08):
And Israel to leave Mount Sinai. He said to Moses,
my presence will go with you, and I will give
you rest. Moses said in reply, if your presence will
not go with me, do not bring us up out
(00:29):
of here. It's a great reassurance to know that God
is with us, like the footprints in the sand. Lord, why,
(00:55):
when there were the most difficult times in my life,
was there only one set of footprints? Not too The
Lord replied, that's when I was carrying you. Some of
you might need to push into that a little bit today.
(01:15):
The passage we just read comes from Exodus thirty three,
verses fourteen and fifteen, and that's where we start. It's
going to be a day. Buckle up, kiddos, it's the
Morning Show with Preston Scott. All right, it's September, the
(01:44):
fifth Ruminators opening up the American Patriots Almanac. It's quite
a day. Seventeen seventy four, the First Continental Congress assembles
in Philadelphia to draw up a declaration of Rights and
Grievances against Britain. Seventeen eighty one, the French fleet defeats
(02:05):
the British at the entrance to Chesapeake Bay, stranding Lord
Cornwallis's British Army at Yorktown. That's a kind of a
centerpiece of a little collection. I have some. I have
something literally from Lord Cornwallis's library, and I have a
bayonet from the Virginia Militia that was unearthed at Yorktown.
(02:29):
Pretty cool stuff there. Just a reminder. Everything I have
in my modest little collection is a reminder of the
price paid the birth of this nation, the forces that
opposed it, and why. Eighteen thirty six, Sam Houston elected
(02:51):
President of the Republic of Texas. Eighteen that ought to
get you a city named after you. You think he'd
be happy with what's happened to you. I think he'd
be ashamed. I think he'd say call it something else.
Eighteen eighty two, New York City, ten thousand workers march
in the first Labor Day Parade. Who was on this date?
(03:13):
In nineteen seventy five, President Gerald Ford escaped an assassination
attempt by a former member of the Manson family. In fact,
I think she tried twice. And it was on this
date in twenty twenty three that we celebrated the five
thousandth Morning Show with Preston Scott. Yeah, that's right here
(03:39):
in the American Patriots Almanac. My friend. Of course I
wrote it in, but you know it's still there. It
is National be late for Something Day. I'm trying to
think of. There are things, no doubt that it's okay
to be late for. I just can't think of any
right now. I mean, noodle on that for a second.
(04:07):
I'm sure there are some things that it's it's not
a bad thing. I don't know of any appointments it's
good to be late for, unless like there was a
big car wreck that you might have been in if
you'd have been on time to the appointment, you know,
(04:29):
does that make sense? But you're you were running late,
so you missed it. Those kinds of running lates. But
I think generally speaking, being late for things is it's
I think it's a bad reflection on the person I do.
Stuff happens, But man, I guess it's maybe it's a
(04:54):
generational thing. You know. I was taught you're early, never late,
always early, never late. National Cheese Pizza Day.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Can I have a cheese pizza please? Just a just
a cheese pizza, you know, if you have let me
let me let me say this personal preference. Cheddar cheese
as part of a cheese pizza is just blasphemous. The
(05:31):
only way you put cheddar cheese on a pizza is
if you're doing one of those weird you know, like
a buffalo chicken or a Hamburger cheeseburger pizza or something
like that. Whatever, go ahead, But I'm a traditionalist that way.
But like you see, sometimes a cheese pizza and one
(05:51):
of the cheese is like yellow and it's not American,
and American doesn't belong on a pizza either, But it's like, no, oh,
you don't put cheddar cheese on a cheese pizza.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
No, But that's why it's called a cheese pizza. You
can put whatever cheese you would, Yes, you can. You
can do anything you want. But to me, a cheese
pizzas it's got mozzarella, it's got provolone, it's got parmesan,
perhaps romano cheese. There there, there's four cheeses right there.
(06:26):
Call it a day. That's just brilliant and a little
garlic butter crust sprinkled with parmesan on the top of it. Mmm.
So there you go. Sixteen passed the hour, almost seventeen,
Uh we're gonna start unpacking the show, and boy it's
a big one. Wow. Football season started officially in the NFL.
(07:03):
Jalen Carter had a boy spit on Dak Prescott to
get thrown out of the game on the first play,
got thrown out of the game. He spit right the
official standing there. The dude spits on the opposing quarterback
on the first play, Hawks alugi on him. It's like,
(07:24):
are you kidding me? The officials sort of like, did
I just did? Was that? Oh my gosh? Wam flag?
He's out? Eagles won the game. Of course, we have
to endure the nonsense of Minnesota's male cheerleader dancer, you know,
sissy boy stuff. I mean, it's ridiculous, but it does
(07:48):
inspire the did you know? For the day? Johnny Campbell
is credited with being the world's first male cheerleader. He
led a group of male University of Minnesota students in
a cheer at a football game in eighteen ninety eight.
Apparently he's not just credited with being the first male cheerleader.
(08:11):
He's credited with being the first cheerleader. But I promise
you wasn't a sissy boy raw raw kick him in
the knees. You know, that kind of thing was probably
what he was doing. Cheerleaders, doing gymnastics type stuff like
you see at college. That awesome. I'm good with that.
They're athletes, not all of them, but a lot of them.
(08:33):
But prancing around with pom poms and all that. And now, no,
uh huh, nope, nope, noop, noop, noop, noop noop. It
didn't last long. Alligator Alcatraz is back. Federal appeals court
has ruled that US District Judge Kathleen Williams was wrong,
(08:58):
and so apparently they'll be reassembling people and sending them back.
That's good for me because I've got a source down here. Yeah,
they're claiming this is about protecting the Everglades. No it's not.
(09:20):
This is nothing more than legal legalizing illegal immigration by
just ignoring it. The other little tidbit, I want to
get to the big stories obviously changed. We have a
verdict in the trial of Donna Adelson that we will
(09:43):
talk more in depth about, but it is one of
the big stories, along with a few other things. But man,
what kind of creepo are you to show up at
a wedding reception in the wee hours, dudes mixing and mingling,
having a drink, and he walks off with the box
(10:04):
that has all the gifts for the for the bride
and groom, you know, the envelopes that have the cash
and checks. About sixty thousand, middle aged dude about forty.
They're not sure, middle Eastern white descent. No, couldn't tell,
(10:25):
grab the thing and then jumped in the passenger seat
of a black Mercedes and off he went. If he's
politically oriented, he's a lefty, because that's what lefties do.
But if I'm wrong, I will be happy to admit that,
(10:47):
although I doubt we'll get to the political makeup of them.
I say that because lefties do crappy things like that,
that's what they do. Just come on now, really a
wedding reception. So I guess now we have to have
a police, you know, guard at the box. Yeah, we've
(11:17):
got the big stories in the press box coming up
next and much more. Got some sound to hear today.
We'll go through the Agelson case a little bit more
next hour, and then of course in the third hour
it's what's the bee Friday? So stay with us. Much
to do today on the morning Show with Preston Scott.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
This is the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Thirty five minutes past the hour, Big Stories in the
press box time here on the Morning Show. He's ose,
I'm Preston. What's the Beef Friday? Get your thoughts together?
And planned to join us in the third hour, but
the Big Stories got pushed a little bit overnight when
the verdict came in. I was asked to do a
(12:14):
live YouTube show yesterday in advance of the jury verdict.
I just didn't see the request in time to join them.
But the show that I've been on several times over
the years related to this case, and that is the
(12:35):
murder of Dan Markel. Donna Adelson was found guilty. Her
outburst after the verdict was read caused her to scream
out loud and cry and shake, and the judge had
to reprimand her and say gather it together or you
will be removed. He had to excuse the jury and
(12:56):
then he brought the jury back. I don't know why
she's surprised. I will talk more about this case next
hour at the top of the hour, just kind of
detailing and then offering a thought or two on what
(13:17):
might be next. Do they go after Harvey, Do they
go after Wendy. The murder of Dan Markel happened five
minutes from this studio where I'm speaking to you from,
and this is Donna is the top of this circle.
(13:45):
She's the one at the very top of it. She's
at the head of the org chart. There's no doubt
in my mind that Charlie just thought he was smart
enough to get away with this, to do this for
his mom. This is about a woman's hatred for another person.
(14:06):
And I can't help but think what the two children
of Dan Markel, these two sons that are now teenagers,
what they're thinking because they've been moved out of Florida,
they're in Texas. Wendy's doing everything possible to try to
(14:28):
shield them from this. Now Grandma is going to prison
for the rest of her life. Uncle Charlie's in prison
for the rest of his life. I don't believe they
have enough to charge Harvey as they've charged the others.
But I do believe they have enough to charge Harvey.
The amount of information that I did not know that
(14:51):
came out in the trial of Donna that did not
come out in the trial of Charlie. When I said
that the case was stronger, no idea how much stronger
the case was against Donna. Prosecution Georgia Kappelman and Enter team.
Brilliant job. But again we'll talk more about that. But
she has been found guilty in the murder murder of
(15:12):
former FSU law professor Dan Markle. This was an amazing
exchange Senate Finance Committee, the US Senator Ron Wyden of
Oregon Democrat. This is about kids being pushed into harm's
(15:34):
way by reckless and repeated decisions to get scientists and
doctors out of the way and allow conspiracy theories to
dictate this country's health policy. That's what he screamed at
Robert F. Kennedy Junior. He went on to say, I
don't see any evidence that you have any regrets about
anything you've done, our plans to change it. My last
comment is I hope you will tell the American people
(15:55):
how many preventable child deaths are an acceptable sacrifice for
enacting in agenda that I think is fundamentally cruel and
defines common sense. So ironic coming from us, someone who
likely believes that the vaccines or the thing to do.
Kennedy replied Senator, You've sat in that chair how long now,
(16:19):
twenty or twenty five years while chronic disease of our
children went up seventy five percent, and you said nothing.
You never asked the question why it's happening. Why is
this happening today? For the first time in twenty years,
we've learned that infant mortality increased in our country. It's
not because I came in here. It's because of what
happened during the Biden administration that we're going to end. Brilliant,
(16:45):
Keep going, sir, keep going. We do have another big story,
but it's not something that I have to necessarily get
to today. I can hold onto it. Federal judges criticizing
anonymously the Supreme Court for over turning decisions and emergency rulings.
They're quoting this is NBC speaking with twelve federal judges anonymously. Yeah,
(17:09):
that's gonna help. They don't have our backs. That's because
you're making crappy rulings, you're violating the law, you're ignoring
the Supreme Court. What do you expect them to do?
But one of the judges that spoke in Obama judge
said judges have been out of line with their rulings
(17:32):
against Trump. The whole Trump de arrangement syndrome is a
real issue. This is a judge appointed by Barack Obama.
As a result, judges are mad at what Trump is
doing or the manner in which he's going about things.
They're sometimes forgetting to stay in their lane. There's a
little truth in there. Forty one minutes after the hour,
come back with more here on the Morning Show with
Preston Scott. So the rumor is the Fed is going
(18:08):
to cut rates in September sometime. So what does that
mean to you? And I came across something in Epic
Times that I thought was a pretty good breakdown of
(18:31):
the result here. The Federal Funds rate, it's called the FFR,
is the central banks chief policy rate. It is the
primary interest rate at which banks lend money to each
other overnight. It applies to excess reserves held at the institution,
(18:52):
and the Fed uses it as a tool to influence
economic activity, which is what a lot of people have
a complain about. The idea that some hold is that
the government shouldn't be manipulating the economy in any way,
shape or form, but they use it nonetheless, to manage
(19:17):
employment growth inflation. A higher rate is used to slow
things down to cool inflation. A lower rate is designed
to stimulate things. As a result, the policy can affect businesses,
(19:38):
it can affect consumers, and it affects government borrowing costs. Now,
once Powell said yeah, we might lower the rates after all,
I would ask, what's why? Now? What I mean, he's
out right, he's on the way out. You've we got
(20:00):
a governor of one of the Fed banks under investigation
for mortgage fraud and the case against her is growing
by the day. But when Powell opened the door to
lowering the rate, the markets jumped significantly. And so we're
(20:31):
starting to see by just virtue of okay rates are
if the rates tick down, the market responds. What else happens?
Small business borrowing goes up. It becomes more affordable for
businesses to make equipment purchases, to hire workers, to expand operations,
(20:56):
because a lot of small businesses rely on small business
loans to do those things. But it impacts more than that,
And so the next segment, I want to take a
little bit more time and look at what could be
impacted by the rate coming down in your life. You know,
(21:19):
if you own a business, you know it's good. It's
a good thing when the cost of borrowing money can
help you expand your business. But lowering costs to borrow
money can also lead to more debt. We'll talk about
(21:39):
that forty six minutes past the hour. If rates drop,
what's going to happen as a result.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
It's the Morning Show with President Scott.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
I have friends Friday on the Morning Show. What happens
if the Fed cuts the rate? What will be the
dominoes that start to fall? Well, when the Fed lowers rates,
banks reduce savings rates, so your savings interests will drop.
(22:22):
The money on in most money market accounts will drop
a little bit. The rate as a result, it it'll
adjust because it's cheaper to lend money because that rate drops. Ultimately,
(22:49):
the FED rate influences savings and cash deposit accounts. Now,
some banks might be trying to get ahead of that.
If you signed up for a CD, that rate, whatever
that rate is, it's locked in for the term. So
if you bought into CDs as the rates were elevated,
(23:12):
because the interest rates were elevated, that CD is going
to be protected until it it ages out. Mortgage in
real estate. It's interesting that the mortgage market isn't directly
tied to the FED rate. It just ends up being
tied to it because mortgage rates closely track with the
(23:35):
treasury market, particularly the benchmark ten year Treasury market. Mortgage
rates are expected to fall below six percent by the
end of twenty twenty six, below five percent by the
end of twenty twenty seven. I don't know. All I
(23:56):
know is I was fortunate. Many of you were fortunate.
I've got a mortgage rate below three percent. I refined
mine when it was waylow, historic low, and I pulled
it down to a fifteen year term. It's like, I'm
(24:20):
taking advantage, so we're going to get this thing paid
for credit cards. Well, let me go back to homes.
Lower rates puts more power in a purchaser's hands, so
you could see prices for housing jump a little bit
because there's likely going to be more competition for homes
(24:43):
because rates are down. More people will be in the
buyer's market. When there are more buyers, sellers prevail. When
there are fewer buyers, sellers do not prevail. Buyers prevail.
But it's interesting because when you have fewer buyers, they're
paying more for the money that they're borrowing. But there's
(25:05):
fewer of them, so prices tend to flatten or drop
in the housing market. But if rates do in fact drop,
expect housing prices depending on where we are in America,
but you can expect housing prices to jump up a
little bit. Credit cards, they are heavily influenced by the
FED rate, the APR. Baby, you know what the average
(25:28):
credit card rate is right now, twenty one point one
six percent. If you are using credit cards and not
paying it off monthly, you are in a losing position.
(25:52):
You have to be unbelievably disciplined to use credit cards
in this day and age. Well, in general, it's not
just now, but twenty one percent minimum payments won't get
that done. So if you use credit cards to earn
(26:13):
points or whatever, I've never found that to be overly
valuable myself. That's just me. But if you are prone
to do that, just be disciplined about knowing, Okay, I'm
using credit instead of debit or my cash or my checks,
and so you've got that money and you know what
you're spending should be. But credit card rates will come
(26:38):
down slightly, so that's what you can expect if the
rates drop. All right, Our two is next in the
Morning Show with Preston Scott. HI five minutes past the hour.
(27:04):
It is the second hour here of the Morning Show
with Preston Scott. Good news. There is a conviction here
in Tallahassee in the murder of Dan Markel, the FSU
law professor that was killed over a custody battle. His
murder happened shortly after this show went off the air
(27:26):
July of twenty fourteen, five minutes from this studio. He
was followed from his stop at a local gym. They
made sure the kids were not with him. He dropped
the kids off and two guys from Miami who were
(27:52):
hired by the Atolsons to kill Dan Markel. They tried
it once before, didn't work out for him. They came
back up. This case was very, very straightforward. The Adolson's
(28:15):
were not smart at all. They you know Charlie who
was convicted, and I recognize some of you were like
wait what who what? Huh? Okay? Dan Markel and FSU
law professor Wendy Aedelson. Wendy Markel his wife. They end
up getting divorced. They have two sons. The Aedolson family
(28:45):
built a very successful dental practice in South Florida and
lived the lifestyle. Their son, Charlie very talented, gifted. You know,
I don't know where you would the kind of dentistry
that you know is very high end. But Charlie thought
(29:08):
very highly of himself. He was He was that guy
who hit the party scene, who drove the fast cars,
who had a license plate that said Maestro. And the
Agelson's tried to offer Dan Markell a million dollars cash
to allow the kids to move to South Florida. That
didn't work when the kids were telling him that their grandmother,
(29:33):
Wendy's mom, referred to him in a derogatory manner repeatedly.
He then filed a lawsuit that hearing was coming up.
He was murdered one month ahead of that hearing because
he was demanding supervised visitation for the grandparents. The case
(29:56):
to convict Charlie was ironclad. They originally got the driver
of the car, Luis Rivera. He pled guilty, became a witness.
(30:21):
Then they got the trigger man, Sigfredo Garcia. He's the
former husband and the father of the children of Katie mcbanua.
Katie was the middle one. She had had an on
and off kind of thing with Charlie Adelson and was
being paid ridiculous sums of money for shall we say,
special surgeries, and she was getting checks and no one
(30:46):
knew what she was doing. She didn't have an office presence.
Donna Adelson literally laundered money as in cash. She washed it.
She literally washed it. Sigfredo Garcia, the triggerman, the man
(31:07):
who shot Dan Markel. He was found guilty. Katie mcbanua
the middle kind of the middle person in this. She
knew people. You know, Charlie went to Katie and probably said, hey,
do you know some people? Katie said, I might know
a guy. Katie gets convicted. Charlie gets brought up. Now
(31:32):
we're talking about the brother of the former wife of
Dan Markel, so the brother in law, he gets convicted,
and then Donna. Donna was convicted last night. It didn't
take the jury, but a couple hours case rested. The
(31:55):
case against Donna Adelson was more ironclad than that against Charlie.
And that was ironclad, I know, because the evidence that
was available to the public was overwhelming. But they didn't
show all their hand. They meaning the prosecution Georgia Kappelman
(32:16):
did what she always does. She is a brutally thorough prosecutor.
She is just relentless and detailed. She's not flashy, she
doesn't that's not her style. Her style is to just
(32:37):
take facts and bludgeon the perpetrator with them. I didn't
talk a lot about the Donagilson case. Didn't need to.
She convicted herself the moment she tried to get on
a one way flight with her husband to Vietnam, where
there was no extradition policies. She said, oh, I would
(32:59):
have cooperate. Bull crap, you would have. You were going
there for a reason. She was arrested at the airport.
But there are more questions. Eleven minutes past the hour,
justice is still needed. Sentencing will likely happen in October.
(33:35):
The defense asked for the judge to wait to present
his sentence. There's no reason to think she will not
die in prison. The Markelle family has gone through unspeakable injury,
(33:58):
not just the loss of their son. Wendy Aedelsen is
so cold and rotten. She had her kid's last name changed.
They've been stripped of their father's name. She and her
(34:24):
mother for certain constantly ridiculed and belittled him. She has
no doubt lied to those children. They have prevented the
Markel's from hardly ever seeing them. So they've now lost
their grandchildren, not just their son. Those boys now are teenagers,
(34:47):
and I'm wondering what they're thinking as they're watching. Okay,
Uncle Charlie and now Grandma Donna are going to prison
for killing my dad, mom, mom. And what's Wendy thinking
watching her family one by one go to prison for
(35:08):
the rest of their life because of her. You could
argue that that's a pretty bad sentence right there. She's
living with I've had Ruth Markel on the program. I
(35:29):
know that Charlie and Donna listened to the radio program.
They were heard talking about it on their phone calls.
I've got the audio talking about listening to the show.
I privately I think he was moved off to North
or South Dakota. I privately hope that somewhere somehow there's
some guards working there and they'd stream my show live
(35:52):
just to let him keep listening to me. Phil Markel said,
I wish her to live to one hundred and twenty
alone in her jail. Cell I wish that every day
of her remaining day she thinks about the harm she
has caused so many. And she asked Donna, and then
Phil asked Donna, was it worth it? Ruth Markel said
(36:18):
that Adelson blames external forces for her family's curse, but
she is the curse, referring to Donna. But now we
get to the real question. First of all, I don't
(36:38):
know what Donna was thinking that by hiring Jackie Fulford,
a former circuit judge who was pushed out, she had
to step down from the bench. She was facing some challenges.
We'll leave it there. She was in way over her
head with this case. I think Donna felt like maybe
(37:01):
she'd catch a break having someone who's a former judge
didn't work out very well. I believe Jackie Fulford was
in way over her head with this case. But now
what happens? Do they now make a move on Harvey Adelson?
(37:30):
Because the trial of Donna revealed to me for the
first time that there's credible reason to believe that Harvey
was aware of a plot, though he did not overtly participate.
He was after all heading to Vietnam as well. And
(37:55):
is there a case for Wendy probably not the charges
that most of us think she should face. I don't
doubt for a second that she was aware of the
plot to kill Dan. There was code language used, and
I believe she was well aware of what that code meant.
(38:17):
There were little things. Do they have enough to That's
the thing. There's what you think, there's what you think
you know, and then there's what you can prove. But
another guilty party has been brought to justice. Eighteen minutes
(38:38):
passed the hour come back lighting things up a little
bit here on the Morning Show with Presto Stock, Well,
if you read something insane, I probably did it. I'm
(39:02):
find of wood. The block is going ahead and google
my name.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Now there is no man.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
To the sins I have committed, and we all feel
we have somebody. Florida Man is a coin, and there
are two sides to the coin. There's tails, the butt heads,
(39:33):
and then there's heads, the guys that make you proud.
We're gonna flip the coin here, We're gonna go to tails.
A New York couple found themselves in Florida Man Territory,
meaning Miami Beach. They got busted hot boxes with Florida
(40:03):
Man import Philip Fraser from Hamlin, New York. He had
his two year old son in the car with he
and his gal pal while they were hot boxing. What
does that mean. That means they had the windows rolled
up and they were smoking weed like you would not believe.
(40:28):
It's like a sauna of weed smoke inside. That's what
hot boxing is. They had a two year old in
there with them. Told you the butt head side of
the coin, a New Yorker just comes to Florida and
becomes Florida Man. But as we said, there's two sides
(40:53):
to that coin. Now we get to the head side
where we go, Oh yeah, Florida Man. Cape Coral Kyle
my vet Kyle told detectives he'd gone to bed when
his home security cameras alerted him somebody was messing with
(41:15):
his vehicle. Lo and behold, still dressed in his pjs,
he went out there to confront the guy who was
in breaking into his car. The guy was rummaging through
his truck, and then the same guy moments later was
(41:37):
in the neighbor's garage, so as he approached him, he
ran off ends up in the neighbor's garage. This time,
mister my Vett was not going to have any of
it still in his pjs. He grabbed the guy justin
shimple and held him until police arrived, and they found
(42:01):
all the incriminating evidence on him. But here's where it
becomes Florida Man. My man with his pjs on was
not just wearing any pjs. He was dressed as Batman.
He was wearing his Batman PJS. So there's a great
(42:25):
photo of him next to Cape Caral police officers dressed
in his Batman PJS, having just done the Cape Crusader
thing and shut down crime in his neighborhood. That, my friends,
is quintessential Florida Man. Twenty seven minutes past the hour,
(42:50):
come back with the big stories in the press box.
We'll get you ready. What's to be Friday? Still to
come on the Morning Show with Preston Scott Show with
Preston Scott. Why a lot of time on news Radio
(43:13):
one hundred point seven double us LA guilty. Don Adelson
was found guilty and yeah, I had a listener say,
(43:37):
can't follow it very good without a chart. It is,
it's crazy, absolutely crazy. Wendy Markel could not gain custody
of her kids. Dan Markel is a very bright guy
law professor, and a very good one at that, and
(43:58):
considered one of the better young legal minds in the nation.
And every time Wendy tried to force Dan to bring
the kids to South Florida, Dan one, and Dan got
to the place where she was, he was about to
win only supervised visitation for Donna Adelson, Wendy's mom, because
(44:19):
of her conduct with her with with her grandchildren, his
two sons. They tried to pay him off. They tried
to say that they'll convert him his kids from the
Hebrew faith to Christianity, they'll become Catholics. I mean, just
(44:42):
horrible games they tried to play and just didn't work.
So they went and had him killed. And so now
we've got one plead, plea one, two, three, four convictions.
Now four, the question becomes, is Harvey going to be
(45:04):
charged with anything in face trial? And will they have enough?
Do they have enough to get Wendy. We'll see. I
feel for those boys they are learning that their family
had their dad murdered. I can't even I can't even
(45:25):
get my brain around that. And Wendy's been lying to
them this whole time. So we'll see, we'll see where
that all goes. There are other big stories in the
press box. However, we'll find out the sentence of Donna
Agilson probably next month. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Is doing,
(45:47):
I think, a remarkably good job make America healthy again.
We are seeing industry wide changes. We are seeing accountability
to pharmaceutical companies slowly come. We are seeing an end
(46:10):
to certain mandates. The government has no should have no
say in what you inject into your body or that
of your children. So we're making progress. Democrats hate him.
They hate him for leaving the Democrat Party, they hate
him for being part of Trump's administration, and they hate
(46:31):
him for doing away with government controls because that's what
Democrats want. Control. Every single policy is about control, climate
change control, DEI control, regulatory environment control, it's all about control,
(46:58):
using healthcare control. And then federal judges are out there
whining about the Supreme Court not having their back. Twelve
federal judges spoke anonymously with NBC News. They were judges
appointed by Republicans and Democrats. Not all agreed, that's all
(47:18):
I'll tell you. Not all of them agreed that they're
they're being rolled under the bus. To quote one one
Obama appointed judge said, the whole Trump derangement syndrome is
a real issue. As a result, judges are mad at
what Trump is doing or the manner in which he's
doing it, and sometimes they are forgetting to stay in
(47:39):
their lane. That's an Obama judge. Supreme Court's been put
in an untenable situation having to deal with on an
emergency basis rulings that violate their rulings. And I keep
telling you you can just there are judges that are
(48:01):
just going to be overruled. It's just a matter how
long it takes. So we're having to see more emergency
hearings and the court that they don't have time to
give a bunch of written explanations. You didn't follow the law,
that's how's that overruled? Next? They want more, the judges
want It's like it's like they're just they're just they
don't have our Well, of course they don't have your
(48:22):
back because you're wrong. Forty minutes past the hour, all
you got to hear? What's next? What this is Jason
(48:44):
Whitlock and his Fearless podcast that is on Blaze TV.
Jason has no regard for political correctness. He has no
(49:05):
regard for what's happened in the world of sports. And
he had some thoughts on what happened last weekend with
Florida State beating Alabama and the aftermath of everybody screaming
and whining and complaining about what's happened to Alabama, and
(49:25):
listener Steve sent this my way, and this is fascinating again,
Jason Whitlocke.
Speaker 5 (49:36):
But I contend Alabama has more than a coaching problem,
and I contend that that problem is going to visit
more and more football programs if it goes unaddressed. These
are things that you're not allowed to talk about in
(49:59):
mainstream sports media. We're not allowed to talk about the
cultural shifts that are manifest and obvious in this alphabet
mafia era that we live in. The BLM, LGBTQIA plus
(50:19):
silent P alphabet mafia.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
Is ruining sports. Brace yourselves.
Speaker 5 (50:26):
Alabama's best football player is an alphabet soldier. He plays
wide receiver. His name is Ryan Williams, runs around with
painted fingernails, showed up to Saturday's game with some sort
of anxiety doll that he walked into the locker room with.
(50:50):
Your best player, probably your most expensive player is an
alphabet soldier. And you're wondering why the team is soft.
Of course it's sold. He's turned it into a women's
(51:11):
basketball team.
Speaker 1 (51:12):
We'll just stop right on there now. I don't know,
but I've not seen anybody say Jason Whitlock is wrong
from the Alabama Sports Athletic department. I've not seen anyone
(51:37):
in sports information issue a statement. Now, maybe it's out there,
but Jason Whitlock is making the larger point that as
your leaders go, so go your team. Had you heard
(52:00):
that one, I hadn't. But when you look at the
tape of how poorly Alabama played, and they really I mean,
Mike Norvella is correct. That should have been a blowout.
(52:21):
Norvelle was angry that Florida State didn't win that game
by four or five touchdowns. He's right. I've watched the
game three times. He's exactly right. They'll fix it. FSU
will will. Fsu' is a better football team. Are they
a playoff team? I don't know. I'm not prepared to
(52:42):
say no, and I'm not going to be a total homer,
though I am and say yes, as I don't know yet,
we'll see. We'll find out when Miami comes to town.
We'll find out. When we head to Clemson, we'll find out.
I know that they're going to be unbeaten. I think
they have to Virginia before they host Miami. They're gonna
be unbeaten. Heading to Virginia, they'll get tested a little
(53:05):
bit on the road there. Virginia's not bad, but we'll
find out. But had you heard that about Alabama crimson
tied fans? I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Forty seven minutes after
the hour, This Morning Show with Preston Scott dubl UFLA,
(53:40):
what's to be Friday? In just a little bit, phone
lines are open. You'd like to get in line. You're
welcome eight five zero two zero five WSLA eight five
zero two zero five ninety three fifty two. We'll get
to your calls in just about twelve thirteen minutes or so.
So you gotta be paid, but we'd love to hear
(54:01):
from you whatever you want to get off your chest? Boy,
did I find this interesting? Florida's Attorney General, James Uthmeyer,
announced that his office will issue civil and criminal subpoenas
to the employer of har Gender Singh. They want to
(54:24):
talk to the company that hired him. He's the guy
that did the illegal U turn on the Florida Turnpike
that resulted in the death of three people. So they
want to subpoena. He's issued subpoenas to Whitehawk carriers. That
(54:52):
is terrific. But when are we going to address the
employers of illegal immigrants in the Sunshine State. I'm just waiting.
(55:16):
I'm waiting for Florida lawmakers to close the loopholes. To
everify there are two significant loopholes, and I'm waiting for
us to enforce the law on employers who are knowingly
(55:37):
employing illegals. Now, because some are nervous Nelly's out there,
let me be sure to offer this disclaimer. Just because
someone is Hispanic doesn't make them illegal. They could be
a legal immigrant into this country. They could have a
work visa and are legally here. But every doggone person
(56:01):
listening to me, and every employer knows exactly what I'm
talking about. And you know whether you've got illegals in
your company workforce or not. You know, so stop stop
making excuses. But I just thought, Wow, we're going after
(56:24):
the employers of this truck driver who might be based
in California. I don't know, but we're we're Are we
not prosecuting the employers of illegals in this state who
have businesses in this state?
Speaker 6 (56:42):
Now?
Speaker 1 (56:42):
Seriously, when are we going to stop making excuses? Florida
Chamber of Commerce does some amazing work. When are they
going to publicly call for their business members to stop
employing illegal immigrants and to help close the loopholes verify?
When will the state lawmakers, super majority Republicans, stop and
(57:10):
accepting money in return for not pursuing legislation to close
you verify loopholes? Stop it here, we've got here, We've
got the Attorney General going after an employer likely out
of state, but we're not gonna touch the ones in Florida.
That is the height of hypocrisy. And I'm gonna complain
(57:34):
about it. And if that costs me guests on this show, Okay,
you and I have plenty to cozy up and talk about.
We're gonna be fine, but we're going to hold people accountable.
What's your beef? Eight five zero two zero five WFLA
(57:55):
eight five zero two zero five ninety three fifty two
three lines are open. Well, now we have all the
lines taken, and that means that when it's time for
(58:16):
you to call in, it will be as we wrap
up a call. We're on a little bit of a delay,
so anticipate the end of a call call in. It's
what's the be Friday Here on the Morning Show with
Preston Scott. I'm Preston, he is Jose and he's taking
your calls at eight five zero two zero five WSLA
eight five zero two zero five ninety three fifty two.
Whatever you want to complain about it is fair game,
(58:39):
even me, I'm a big boy. Just don't be personal.
Don't attack a business by name. Tell us what happened.
If you have a bad experience, leave the name of
the business out of it. You'll feel better, trust me.
Leave the naming of businesses to broadcast professionals. And of course,
the other rule is the big one, no profanity. You
can do it, trust me, and you'll feel better about
(59:00):
yourself having done so, venting a little bit without using
curse words. There you go. Eight five zero two zero
five to b FLA. George has been very patiently waiting.
Good morning, sir, welcome. What's the beef?
Speaker 6 (59:14):
My beef? Preston is with our previous state attorney, Willie Meggs.
When TPD approached him in the state Attorney's office and
said that they were gonna they had a plan to
go after the entire family, he shot it down. He
(59:36):
shuffled it under the door real quick. He even told
the family that they should get representation and file a
civil suit against TPD if this happens. And I'm just
wondering why he's been given a mulligan over this. Nobody
said anything. I mean, he came out on the you know,
the broadcast media and the local print media and was
(59:59):
adamant about this. And as soon as he left office,
you know, thank god Jack Campbell, you know, thought differently
and let turn Georgia loose on him. But I just
that chaps me to this day, and I don't understand
why he's been giving a mulligan.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
Preston. I hope you feel a little bit better, George.
You know what else I want to add to that,
just real quickly, is just a shout out to Craig Is,
some TPD and FBI special agent Pat Sandford who did
a lot of the investigating in all of this. They
did a great job. But thanks very much, George, I
hope you feel a little bit better that freeze up
(01:00:35):
a line eight five zero two zero five to WFLA, John,
you are up. What's the beefy?
Speaker 7 (01:00:42):
Good morning, Preston. Hey, I find it funny that they
have a big deal going on about this tractor trailer
driver that can't speak English. But yet, for the last
twenty years, you can get a driver license in the
state of Florida CDL or not using interpreters taking tests
in different languages, and you can walk in and get
an I RP license plate and an IF the decal
(01:01:02):
for your commercial motor vehicle using an interpreter. So we've
got the same problem here. We just don't address it
because if we do, there won't be a truck moving
south of Orlando in the state of Florida.
Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
You don't think so, I know, I know. So really
we're there, so we couldn't fill the void. So what's
the suggestion. What's the solution then, John? I don't doubt
you one bit, But what's the solution other than enforcing
the law.
Speaker 7 (01:01:32):
Well, you're gonna have to figure out how to do
it gradually. I mean, there's no way you could do
it immediately. They chose not to do it when the
CD ALL license first came into effect, and simply because
of the economy here and the politics involved in it.
I mean, the Florida Trucker Association is going to be
on at big time because it's in their best interest
to you know, represent their their their paying members. So
(01:01:54):
you know a solution is going to have to be
a gradual.
Speaker 1 (01:01:58):
Okay, fair enough, it's all, thanks very much. I appreciate
your phone call that frees up a line. Let's go
to Michael. Michael, good morning, welcome to the morning show.
You're on the air. What's the beef, good morning pressing.
Speaker 8 (01:02:09):
My beef is with the Black Lives Matter. I don't
see any protests in Chicago for people being shot and
killed him on the weekend, and we don't see any
protests on the street because it's black crime. And you
don't see Reverend Harmpton holding any press conference regarding these
shootings that happened. It's just like a book crazy, you know.
(01:02:31):
Apparently it doesn't matter when they're block on black crime,
but it only matters when a white president she's a
black guy. That might best preston.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
How you doing, Michael, you're doing well.
Speaker 8 (01:02:41):
Yeah, yeah, it's just press kettle.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
President. I'm glad you're calling in today and I appreciate
you sharing your thoughts. Michael, thank you. Yeah, it's funny
how that works out. Barack Obama in office eight years
and he had did one time go visit his home
city of Chicago and deal with the issue of black
on black crime, black shooting blacks. Nothing to say, the
(01:03:06):
new mayor happens to be black, nothing to say, it's crazy. Charlie,
you're next, then, Randy. We've got two lines. One line open,
eight five zero two zero five WFLA. What's the bee Friday?
Get it off your chest? Friends, Get it off your chest?
Here in the Morning Show with Preston Scott, time for
(01:03:46):
morgart calls. One line's open eight five zero two zero
five WFLA. One line, Come on, come on, you can
do it. I'd love some first time callers here on
this particular Friday eight five zero two zero five to
be a FLA. If you it's you're like, oh, I
want to call in, call now. Now's your shot. Go
(01:04:08):
for it while you're thinking about it. Charlie's standing by.
Good morning, Charlie, welcome. What's the beef.
Speaker 4 (01:04:14):
Good morning pressing. I'm calling uh. I've been fitting about
this all week to friends of mine and I finally said,
you know, to get off my chest. I'm calling Preston
on Friday and they all agreed give it a whirl.
So here's the beef. Driving to the FSU football game,
I noticed young ladies wearing clothes very, very skimpy. Mostly
(01:04:35):
it seems to be dresses that come up to a
point under their rear ends where you can see the
full moon rising.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (01:04:42):
I find that to be extremely tacky. I think we
as a society have our cheese to sell off this cracker,
and this is one of the slides of society is
we're allowing young ladies to dress tacking. So I want
to thank you for allowing me to get that off
of my chest.
Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
Thank you, Charlie. I don't disagree one bit co ed
dress code or that what's lacking, whatever there is of
a dress code is lacking. It's just you're right, it
is tacky. It's like, come on now, girls, if you
want young men to treat you like young ladies dress appropriately,
(01:05:25):
you're just advertising and it's bad for business. No, you
are hurting yourself by allowing yourself to dress that way
and having, you know, opening a door for men to think. Well,
and I'm not saying it's right, but men look at
(01:05:46):
women dressing a certain way and they go, well, you know,
they're kind of interested in you know what I mean,
because how you present yourself conveys something about you, and
it may not be you may be just being pressured
into it by your peers. I'm just saying he's right.
(01:06:07):
It is tacky. Randy, Thanks for calling in. What's the beef?
Speaker 9 (01:06:12):
Hey, good morning, Presston.
Speaker 10 (01:06:14):
I don't know if you've been down around College Town
or Gain Street, uh, you know, when when games are happening.
Speaker 9 (01:06:20):
But my beef is that.
Speaker 10 (01:06:23):
It is really become an eyesore on Fridays and Saturdays
when you walk down there or drive down there, every
single trash can is overflowing there is there seems like
there's no solution. The city hasn't planned this out well
enough because the partying and everything starts on Thursday, and
(01:06:44):
there's people down there last night, there's people down there
that they'll be down there today, and then when college Town,
you know, erupts, every trash can is full. And I
think it's an eyesore. I think it's a bad, bad
look for our city. You know, when Alabama fans came
through and had to walk around trash cans that were
flowing over with beer cans and everything.
Speaker 6 (01:07:07):
It's just a.
Speaker 9 (01:07:07):
Really bad look.
Speaker 10 (01:07:08):
And I just I hope that they've got some sort
of plan. I mean, they can put one hundred trash
cans around the RV sites, but they can't put a
few extra down on Gain Street and around College Town
to prevent it from looking just like a dump. So
that's where I'm at. I really wish that they can
do something more to make.
Speaker 7 (01:07:29):
It look better.
Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
Randy, thank you. And I have a feeling we've got
some folks listening that work for the city that might
run that up the tree to rees code. And yeah,
I think that's a very fair criticism. It does look tacky,
no doubt about it. Gerald, stand by. I'm going to
put you back on hold here, and you are going
to be first when we come back. We've got room
(01:07:52):
for three more callers after Gerald. But that's it. It's
what's the Bee Friday? Call me now eight five zero
two zero five w f l A. My goodness, we're
in the final segment. Of therapy. What's the Beef? Friday
(01:08:15):
on the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Good morning friends,
and it's time to go back to the phone line. Gerald,
Sorry for putting you back on hold, but thank you
for hanging in there. What's the beef?
Speaker 11 (01:08:25):
Oh sure, I still haven't seen anybody trimming any trees.
And the garbage thing is it? Probably when you first
got on the radio, there were some people that used
to go around picking up the aluminum cans and you know,
bringing them to the recycle place. And there should be
a little bit better recycle situation in town. That's very important.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
Yeah, they've kind of gotten away from all that. I
want to say that they quit sorting the garbage, and
I'm not sure that even recycling is a thing anymore,
even though that they have the green bins.
Speaker 12 (01:09:02):
Yeah, well some of them are and some of them not.
But there's no reason for them to be piled up
like that, you know, you know, pilled up, overflowed and
stuff like that. That looks terrible.
Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
It does.
Speaker 12 (01:09:14):
It's a beautiful town and beautiful people. We shouldn't look
like a garbage can.
Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
Yeah, Gerald, thanks very much. I appreciate you hanging in there.
With me. You have anything else, Yep, that's cool. You
got it all right, that's it. Gerald, thanks for calling in.
Thanks again for being patient. Let's go to Tony.
Speaker 9 (01:09:34):
This is Tony.
Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
How are you.
Speaker 9 (01:09:37):
I'm good pressing this. I'm gonna have to come to
the defense of the city and about the trash and recycling.
I work for one of the local companies here that
we supply containers and what have you. A lot of
this falls on the owners of the property. They asked
you to come in and give them recommendations, and then
(01:09:58):
when they give them to recommendationtions, they don't follow those.
They go the cheapest route they can. Uh. Garbage is
the first thing they complain about, but the last thing
they want to do anything about but aren't.
Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
But aren't the garbage cans that that are being talked about,
Cans that the city is responsible for that they put
along the sidewalks.
Speaker 9 (01:10:20):
Those dumpsters and the the uh, those cans. The city
can't even get a truck in there. Once everything starts,
you can't even get a truck down the road. You
know what the traffic's like around the stadium.
Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
I do. But I've also had also and.
Speaker 9 (01:10:33):
They could they come in on Friday, they try to
clean everything and dump everything up Friday, and uh, you know,
by the end the party on Friday night, you can't
it's the game day. You can't hardly get in there,
and especially with these big trucks, and uh, I'm gonna
take their defense on it because people, you know, they
just they won't let you in. They part they block
(01:10:54):
anywhere they can and what they have.
Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
So all right, Tony, thank you, I appreciate you coming
to the Here's where I'm going to circle back, though,
and dump back on the city. They planned that road,
they planned it, they they did it the way that
they did it, and I predicted that we would have
nightmare problems with access through that entire region. Imagine what
happens if you have to call nine to one one
(01:11:18):
and get an emergency, get an ambulance down in there.
You can't you can't go through, you can't get there.
I still think that it's the responsibility of the city.
If the planners didn't take that into account, they got
to figure it out. That's just my opinion though, But
(01:11:38):
thanks very much. I hope you feel a little bit better.
Let's second to the last call. Here, here's Greg. Greg
thanks for calling in. What's the beef?
Speaker 13 (01:11:45):
I hope this is under a minute. As a president
was guilty of throwing the baby at with the bathwater.
As far as his posting about mail in voting, there's
somebody in government, either Rubio or Bondie or Senator Rick
Scott who would explain how Florida does it correctly. Puts
(01:12:06):
the oath on the envelope, you have to sign it.
It's checked against the voter card. Dropboxes are locked up
at night and have a poll worker during the day. Personally,
I had to use them in twenty twenty, twenty twenty two,
and twenty twenty four. So my question is why don't
we keep living the Joe Biden loss?
Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
Thank you, Greg, appreciate you calling in. Well done. Way
to keep it concise. Nikki, final caller, you're up, what's
the beef?
Speaker 14 (01:12:37):
Well, good morning. Thank you for taking my call. Really
appreciate it. My husband and I listen to you every morning.
He's probably listening at home right now, thinking, oh, no,
what is she going to say because I'm driving to work.
But that's okay. Don't be afraid, John, it's all right.
I just wanted to say that, you know, we live
down in Wakulla County. I work in Callahassee, and I
(01:13:01):
love you know, the entire area, but down in Crawfordville,
what we've noticed is with the expansion and more development,
with the businesses and more eateries and and things. You know,
with with development and progress come change, uh. But some
of that change involves even more aggressive driving. And as
(01:13:24):
someone who commutes from Crawfordville from a quiet area into
the heart of the city, I just wanted to remind
people to take a moment and be kind and patient
with each other and you know, just frankly, uh, you know,
arrive alive five minutes later is not gonna it's not gonna, uh,
(01:13:47):
you know, and everything, and just don't be passive aggressive
and just you know, just remember the rules of the
road to get back to the basics, because we've got
a lot of aggression out there and it's just not
just you know, just be safer.
Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
That's all.
Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
Great way to end. What's the beef, Nikki, Thanks for
calling in. I appreciate it, and my best to you
and your husband.
Speaker 14 (01:14:11):
Thank you very much. Have a wonderful weekend too.
Speaker 1 (01:14:14):
You do the same. What a great way to end here.
You go. I'll just say this, If you lose your
job because you're five minutes late, you probably stink at
your job. I'm just saying. When we come back from
the ground up, Mary Rock, you gonna join us from
Esposito's Garden Center. We're going to talk about your indoor plants.
Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
Ooh yeah, weather, traffic, and the big stories in the
press box. The fastest three hours in media. And don't
be surprised if you have a chuckle here and there.
Just like that, It's the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
Time to talk about your yard and your plants and
being inside and being outside. And it's from the ground up.
Mary Rock joins us from Esposito's Garden Center. Mary, good morning, Welcome,
how are.
Speaker 15 (01:15:26):
You, good morning? I'm great, how are you.
Speaker 1 (01:15:29):
I'm doing terrific. I when I saw the topic, I
was like, oh, police, people destroy plants that indoors. People
inherently love to have plants inside that have no idea
how to make them survive and thrive.
Speaker 15 (01:15:46):
This, this can't be true in situations that we're you know,
we're here to help. We're helped. We're here to help
make those indoor plant dreams come true.
Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
So where do we start. What are the biggest mistakes
people make? Is it getting the wrong plants for the indoors,
is it putting them in the wrong places? Is it overwatering?
Is it underwatering? What's common?
Speaker 15 (01:16:07):
It's all everything you just said. Those are actually the
most common mistakes. The probably the most common we see
is overwatering, you know, watering it to death, and then
also not having the right environment, you know, the right
plant for your environment. That is a you know, that's
a big one too. So you know, we're very focused
(01:16:30):
on customer service here at us Disitos, and we really
strive to help people pick out that plant that's going
to you know, work in their area. And that's it's
you know, if you need something easy, we're going to
get you something easy.
Speaker 1 (01:16:43):
What's the checklist? Where does it begin for someone that says, hey,
I want I want to bring a little bit of
life inside. What what are the things you're going to
likely ask somebody?
Speaker 15 (01:16:53):
We're going to ask them first. Okay, so what's the
lighting like? So are there windows? Is it a you know,
dark room? That's probably the first question that we ask
everyone because it's it's an important question and beyond that,
do you have pets? Is it going to be somewhere
where the pets can't get into? Do you need something
(01:17:13):
pets safe? Because that's a big deal as well, you know,
having plants that are that are pets safe. And then
beyond that, it's just a matter of you know what,
do you like? What what speaks to you? And and
we go from there.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
Are there tricks to knowing how much is too much water?
Speaker 14 (01:17:35):
Yes?
Speaker 15 (01:17:36):
So the key to knowing when you get to know
a plant, and Elizabeth, you plants like consistency, so you know,
if you're going to water on let's say Sunday, then
water every Sunday, or if you water twice a week,
water Sunday, water Wednesday or Thursday. We want to always
(01:17:59):
make sure that you have a very well drained pot.
So if it's something that doesn't have drainage, you've really
got to know what you're doing because you can do
a lot of damage to plants with I don't have
a well drained pot. And then the signs of a
were watering are going to be yellowing of the leaves
(01:18:19):
usually starts at the edges and the tip. That's kind
of the telltale sign.
Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
There break a myth for me, or tell me it's true.
Is it better to find one of those pots that
waters from the bottom where you have a little basin
and you pour water in the bottom and it kind
of drinks at its leisure or is it better to
water from the top down?
Speaker 15 (01:18:42):
Okay, so yes and no. For some plants, yes, those
pots are are great, especially for something like an African violet.
They're very finicky whereas they don't like their stems or
their leaves to be wet. They don't like it. So
of self watering pot fantastic form. Other plants not so much.
(01:19:03):
You have to think about, you know, are the roots
going to reach to the bottom?
Speaker 11 (01:19:08):
Is it?
Speaker 15 (01:19:08):
You know, there's a lot of different things that can
manage that. And I am a top water I like
to water from the top. But you can also another
way to do it is if you're not sure, you
can fill up your sink or your bathtub with your plants,
fill it up with water, set them all in there,
and let them drink from the bottom that way, if you,
(01:19:30):
you know, don't have self watering pots, that's actually a
fantastic way to water plants.
Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
I know that orchids are a really really popular thing.
What are some I guess basic guidance for someone that
wants to start, because I would imagine people that have
orchids they kind of know. But for people that don't
know and might be a little intimidated if you're getting
into the orchid thing, what should they know?
Speaker 15 (01:19:56):
My first rule with orchids is don't overthink it. They
are act very easy to grow. Orchids thrive on neglect.
They don't need a ton of attention. And you know,
orchids are a tropical plant, so you give them a
tropical environment and they're going to be happy. They need light,
(01:20:17):
they need humidity. Humidity is extremely important. They light their
you know, temperature to be anywhere from sixty to eighty degrees,
so those are all ideal, you know environment for an orchid.
You know, good bright, indirect light, really great humidity, and
(01:20:37):
then the right the right pot. Orchids like to breathe.
Their roots like to breathe, so you know, you get
these orchids that come in the little plastic containers, ditch
that container and get it an orchid pot so those
roots can grow and breathe. I've got a ton of
orchids and I don't really pay much attention to them.
(01:21:01):
I let them do their thing. I watre them when
they need it, and in the winter I'll bring them inside,
put them in the shower and give them a sauna
and they're happy.
Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
So they don't take it personal that you don't pay
attention to them.
Speaker 15 (01:21:12):
They don't. They prefer not to associate with me.
Speaker 1 (01:21:15):
I think they just look fretty from a distance.
Speaker 15 (01:21:18):
Yeah. And then we also have the Big Ben Orchid
Society is here the first Saturday of every month and
they have an orchid troubleshooting class here at the nursery,
and they offer free repotting so people can bring their
orchids in if they're sick, if they're not sure, if
they just need a repot, and we supply the potting medium.
(01:21:39):
They just need to bring the orchid in a new
pot or buy one.
Speaker 1 (01:21:43):
Wonderful good stuff.
Speaker 6 (01:21:44):
Mary.
Speaker 1 (01:21:45):
We're going to talk again in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for the time this morning.
Speaker 15 (01:21:47):
We are all right. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
Mary Rock with Espositos Garden Center. Espositogardencenter dot com is
the website. And again, plants. I love plants. They make
me happy. And you always hear that, you know, you
talk to your plant. You know. Now she was saying,
you don't have to worry about orchids. They're loners. More

Keyword Preston. Time for a good news segment here on
the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Police in Pittsburgh got
a call to the Greyhound bus depot about a man
behaving unruly. That was what they were told. So Officer
(01:22:44):
Stephen Harris, who is patrols the downtown area on a bicycle,
man's fit. You know what I'm saying. You're riding a bicycle,
catching bad guys and dealing with things, riding to calls.
You're fit. So Steve Harris gets the phone call and
(01:23:07):
what he encountered was not what he expected. Quoting Officer Harris,
he was just a guy who was deaf, did not
speak English or read English. So it just turned out
he needed help to get back on a bus to
New York and eventually to Montreal. Here's what happened. He
(01:23:32):
spoke French though he was deaf. It turned out he
stepped off the bus to stretch his legs. But because
of his hearing, he did not hear the call from
the driver that it was time to go, and he
turned and watched as this bus left without him on it,
(01:23:52):
with his luggage and cash still on board. It wasn't
like he's an illegal immigrant the country. He was just
visiting in town and was going back home, and the
unthinkable happened. So Officer Harris did what he thought was
(01:24:16):
the right thing to do. He reached into his own wallet,
spent one hundred and thirteen dollars and bought him a
train ticket back up north to New York to catch
(01:24:41):
the bus and to get back with his luggage and
his cash. When he was asked about why he did
what he did, he said, We're supposed to be good men,
good men helping other good men. That's it. It's that
(01:25:03):
human side of police officers that is too frequently overlooked
because we've spent the last decade demonizing police thanks to
certain groups. But I'm here to tell you that most
police officers, law enforcement deputies, patrolman, you name it, they
(01:25:25):
are really exceptional people. And this is just an example,
and that is good news. Forty minutes forty seven minutes
past the hour. I gotta get right to it. This
(01:25:48):
is a dad joke, sort of. It's a story. It
doesn't really qualify as a dad joke, but it is.
Charles wrote in he said, my wife caught our son
eating cords, so I had to ground him. He was shocked.
He blew a fuse and had to be and had
been known to blow a short circuit. I told him
(01:26:12):
he needed a better outlet to express his energies. He's
the polar opposite of my other son. Sorry, time for
