Speaker 1 (00:04):
Yeah, hey, good morning everybody. Friday, September the nineteenth, more
on that date, Mere Moments. Welcome to Show fifty four
fifty six of the Morning Show with Preston Scott. I
am Preston. He is Jose. That was Forrest Frank. That's
(00:26):
the young man that got canceled by tens of thousands
because he dared say something nice and lifted up Charlie Kirk.
And he followed it up with fine, man, I don't
want you following me. If you're a hater, you need
to follow Jesus anyway, And then he talked about the
fact he said, I am I am purposing that I'm
(00:49):
not gonna be luke warm with some of my video content.
He unabashedly loves Jesus and sings nothing but about God.
But yeah, I thought it would be good to lift
his song up and let some of you who have
never heard anything like that before. And that's what I mean.
It's got kind of a reggae, kind of a you know,
(01:11):
rapper funk beat thing, and it's it's different his thing,
his music style is different. But as always, we start
with some scripture. Look what it says in Matthew twenty
eight nineteen, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son,
and the Holy Spirit. You make disciples in a lot
(01:35):
of ways, and the most important way is to not
just say it, but just to live it. Living your
life in such a way that people won't have to
lie about you at your funeral is pretty big. Live
(01:56):
your life like a light set on a hill. Let
pe will see you be different because Christ is in
your life. Ten past the hour. Come back with the
big stories in the press box at the bottom of
the hour. But between now and then, we're going to
start unpacking the show. That is the Friday edition of
The Morning Show with Moa Preston Scott.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Point SEVENUSLA.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
If you travel a lot, we're gonna help you out
in a few minutes, help you maintain your privacy in
your hotel rooms. But first, it is September nineteenth, and
before I discuss anything else, Happy birthday to my sweet, awesome, amazing, beautiful, thoughtful,
(02:52):
smart kind wife, Cynthia. Happy birthday to you. I love you.
You are awesome. You are just awesome, and I am
blessed that you are in my life and in the
(03:17):
life of our kids. Obviously on this date, well, let's
work backwards. I will not disclose her birth year. That
would be bad form. Husbands, learn from me. You do
not discuss the birth year of your wife. You just
don't do it. But I will simply tell you that
(03:39):
if you look at my sweet wife, you will never
know when she was born. You just you, just you,
you'd be like, hmm yeah, unlike unlike me. Methuselah, man,
I'm getting that golden retriever. Look when that golden retrievers
get old, you know, because my eyebrows and my hair's
(04:02):
getting so white it like reflects down on the cheeks,
my cheekbones, and so I look like I'm just getting
that white around the eyes. You know, old dogs get
that white around their eyes. It's like it's like, come on, man,
that's just that's cruel. It looked like a green light
at at us, you know, at an intersection. This is
(04:24):
bright little glow coming off me. Nineteen sixty. It was
on this date, September nineteenth, that the recording of The
Twist by Chubby Checker hit the top of the music charts.
Eighteen eighty one, President James Garfield dies of wounds suffered
during a July second shooting, so he hung in there
for a while. Likely had had it been today, he'd
(04:49):
have made it if he'd if he lasted that long,
he likely would have made it. But seventeen ninety six,
George Washington's farewell address is published. Seventeen seventy seven, Patriot
forces would stand in the British attack in the First
Battle of Saratoga in New York and in sixteen seventy
(05:09):
six and uprising by some Virginia colonists, Nathaniel Brown Bacon
burns Jamestown. Well, that was stupid. Let's just burn the town.
The first Clantifa member there he is. Today is National
(05:32):
pow Mia Recognition Day, and yeah that matters. Today is
talk like a pirate day. It is not, No, yeah
it is. It is National Love your Lunch Day. I
(05:54):
would add a caveat only if your lunch is worth loving.
Now you could take the apro which, Hey, I have food,
what's not to love? There are places, you know, you
could go that route. There are places you know and
Haiti they're they're they're eating mud pies, they're eating dirt
and rice mixed together. I'm not making that up. That's
(06:15):
that's the main meal there. It's National Butterscotch Pudding Day. Overlooked, underutilized,
unappreciated butterscotch pudding. I will say, though, butterscotch is one
of those things that is just I don't think it
(06:37):
would be a regular thing for me. It's like when
I travel sometimes I want to get a pack of
the Life the Butterscotch Life Savers because they're creamy and
I don't know, there's just something very unique about the
flavor of a butterscotch. When we come back, I told
you I was going to help you if you travel,
not only first of all, I've got to did you know,
(06:58):
but if you travel, we're gonna help you maintain your privacy.
We've got some guidance for you, so stick around. It's Friday,
and of course that means what's the beef coming up
in our number three. Yeah, we're gonna take your complaints
(07:25):
as always each and every Friday. What's the beef? Will
also help you with your yard today, because lawns are
gonna be getting stressed, and they are being stressed right
now because there's been no rain in the area. I mean,
how incredible has it has the weather been the humidity
has been gone. But because the humidity's down and we're
(07:47):
getting still in the upper eighties nineties and we haven't
had any rain, lawns are drying out and as a result,
they're getting stressed, and as a result of that, they're
even more prime for weed problems. We're gonna talk about
that with an expert in the third hour as well.
But remember it's what's the beefs? So get your thoughts together.
(08:08):
Did you know that in nineteen sixty one, couple of brothers,
Richard McDonald and Maurice McDonald, sold their small, little southern
California chain of hamburger restaurants they called McDonald's to a
guy named Ray Croc for two point seven million. Don't
(08:30):
you think they'd love to redraw the terms of that agreement?
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Can you?
Speaker 1 (08:37):
McDonald's is named for those two brothers. It is a
global iconic. All you need to see are the golden
arches and you know exactly what it's. You know, when
your business logo is that identifiable, I would argue iHeart
(08:59):
has done that. When you see that logo, everyone knows
what it is Apple. Everyone knows Apple. There are a
handful of logos, not logos that are script or words
like Coca cola. But I mean, just you see that,
(09:20):
you know, there you go now with coke, I would
argue a polar bear, all right. Hotel privacy came across
the Cyber Guy's report on how to protect your privacy
at hotels. First of all, the risk is low, but
that doesn't mean you shouldn't still check. First and foremost
(09:43):
strong recommendation, never use Wi Fi, even if if they
offer it. Don't use your data plan. If you're gonna
use Wi Fi, make sure you've got a VPN on
your phone, your laptop, whatever, your tablet, whatever you're carrying
around if you're gonna use the WiFi. And I would
add that, if you're gonna use the Wi Fi at
(10:05):
the hotel, do not check your finances, don't pay bills,
don't do any of that stuff from your hotel WiFi.
That's just you're asking for trouble there. That said suggestion
shine your phone flashlights into the corners because camera lenses,
(10:25):
no matter how small, reflect light. What's that? Okay? That's
not okay. We're not looking at the courts on the countertop.
If you're in one of those kind of hotels. That's
like a stay and eat kind of thing in your
room with the big fridge and all that. No, no, no,
(10:47):
common hiding spots for cameras or smoke detectors, alarm clocks,
USB chargers, lamps, picture frames, check all that stuff. The mirrors.
Did you know that if you put your fingernail to
the to a mirror and it's it's like the edge
of your nail touches the edge of the nail in
(11:08):
the reflection. It might be two way glass. There should
be a little bit of a gap there if it's
a real mirror, so you can try the fingernail test.
Some phones there are there are there are apps for
for androids and Apple phones iosystems that can actually help
(11:33):
detect electronic surveillance stuff that might have been placed in
a room. You can literally sweep your room with that stuff.
You open up your camera. Just open up your camera
and scan your room. Infrared device is if you have
an infrared device, it will show up on your camera lens.
(11:55):
Often it'll it'll it'll emit just a little something. It'll
be a little wait, what was that kind of thing?
Almost like an apparition in a way. If you find
a camera obviously, you know, you you call hotel security,
but that would be something to make sure about. You know,
check with your hotel before you even check in. Do
(12:15):
you have twenty four to seven security? Who can get
into the elevator? Do you have to have a key?
You have to have a you know, a key to
a room to get in. You know, I prefer hotels
that have twenty four to seven security. I prefer hotels
that have some limitations on who can get on the elevator.
And always know this, they do not disturb sign can
(12:37):
be your best friend. Keep everybody out of your room. Man,
deal with your own bed. Don't don't have anybody rumogen
around through your stuff. And then and then lastly, there's
a device that you can get. Most hotel room doors
are in swinging and the little latches that are allegedly
for security, and they they can be beaten. But there's
(12:59):
a little device that you can put in the latch
that butterflies over and screws down. A bulldozer is the
only thing that's getting through that door. It can't be defeated.
They're about ten bucks. Best security device, specially for you
ladies that are traveling alone on business or whatever. So
there you go, twenty seven past the hour, come back,
Big Stories in the Press Box and you will not
(13:20):
want to miss him up hey, no matter where, no
matter how you are listening to us. Thank you now, sincerely,
thank you for sharing time. It's the Morning Show with
(13:40):
Preston Scotty's Osea. I'm Preston Big Stories in the Press Box.
Pr ees short form press Ton. Charlie Kirk's widow, Erica,
has been voted unanimously to be the CEO of Turning
Point USA. Does she go sit in the chair and
(14:06):
do what Charlie did or does she only do that
from time to time or does she not do that
at all and simply remains is the head of the organization.
I will not say figurehead. She is a bright young lady.
(14:28):
Who better to carry the torch? I think it's a
brilliant decision by the board if she was willing. Got
a lot to say about all of this through the
course of the day. And uh and and yeah, I've
(14:48):
got I got something you you probably will want to hear.
That is very interesting. Senate Republicans. Senate Republicans stop the
release of the Epstein files. Democrats tried to bring it out,
bring all the files out, little procedural matter. I do
(15:09):
not disagree with the notion that the way the Democrats
went about it, slipping it into the Defense Appropriations Bill
was that's bush league. Now They're not the first to
do that. Republicans have slipped crap into bills for years.
I'm just saying that's not how it should be done.
What I am concerned about is what why aren't Republicans
(15:34):
just I mean, did or did not President Trump run
on the idea of bringing transparency to the assassination of JFK, Martin,
Luther King, Robert F. Kennedy and the Epstein files? How
about his own assassination attempt? How about some transparency there?
(15:56):
And we've not seen it. And I'm more than a
little bug that Wereublicans are stopping this. The FBI's getting
some of the info out, not enough we release the files.
I don't get it. And then this story is a sleeper.
(16:17):
You've seen the Adsjose, You certainly have seen the ads
for publishers Publishers clearing house where they give away money
for life. Yeah, and they knock on the doors that what, oh,
they've gone bankrupt? Yeah, exactly, you didn't know. I didn't know.
And here's more importantly, hold on. The people that won
(16:40):
those prizes for life didn't know. This year they started
to get wait, what's going on because they didn't get
their annual checks. For example, one guy getting five thousand
dollars a week for life was supposed to get a
check for two hundred and seventy six thousand dollars. It
didn't come. Here's what's happened. AARB Interactive, it's a mobile
(17:05):
gaming company, bought publishers clearinghouse assets the remaining assets, but
under the terms of the sales agreement, it would not
honor the payouts for those who won their life changing
prizes before July fifteenth of this year. So all those
(17:27):
winners are now, and I mean, would you quit? A
lot of you would quit. Some of these people have
been out of the job market for a decade or
more and now they're in their fifties, sixties, seventies. What
are they going to do to get a job. That's
(17:50):
a big story in the press box. It's forty minutes
past the hour. Don't retire effort. Thanks for listening. It's
The Morning Show with Preston Scott Hey we've talked about
(18:12):
what would you do if you won the lottery? If
you play it, I probably play it two to four
times a year at the most. One of them's at Christmas,
and it's usually a scratch off. I'll put scratch off
tickets in the kids stockings just for a laugh, just
for fun. I think I don't know that I've anybody's
(18:33):
won more than ten bucks. And to that, you know,
to that person, it was like, oh cool, ten bucks,
slip a ten in the stocking. Hey yeah, but if
you want it. I've long said I wouldn't quit doing this,
(18:54):
no chance. I love what I do. But that story is,
why don't just in case now, if you had the
lump some payoff, I get it. I get it. If
I were younger, there's no way I do the lump
some payoff unless I saw that story, and then I'd say, yep,
(19:14):
blump some payoff, because you never know, right, the government
might spend it. If you're playing one of the lotteries,
they're run by states, they might spend it. Just saying
but U, but nah, don't don't retire. Why retire? Keep
doing something now? Maybe retire from what you're doing and
(19:37):
then go do something else, don't retire. There's no reason.
Cracker Barrel earnings came out excuse me. Earnings came out
down two point nine percent from the same quarter last year,
but eight percent down since the August rollout of the
(20:00):
infamous logo. Shares tumbled ten percent this week, at least
as of midweek. The CEO, I'm astonished that Julie Fill's
Messino is still employed by Cracker Barrel. I'm blown away
(20:20):
by that. Now. What informs me, though, is I always
when I go to when I go to Fox Business,
only Fox Business. When I go there, I always print
out and look at some of the comments, because the
people that comment on the Fox Business page tend to
(20:43):
be business people that have some insight, and I always
find very interesting responses. For example, one of the responses
to the claim by by Messino that patrons were demanding
a change. Their definition of patrons was three woke corporate
(21:05):
executives who wanted to change and have never eaten in
the restaurant. Now that's a good job, right, But this
is the one that was interesting to me. Why wasn't
she fired? She was brought in by a board member
who owns a DEI consulting company, who in turn was
placed by investor Larry Fink. Larry Fink is, of course Blackrock.
(21:30):
Blackrock is a leading investor in a lot of places,
Cracker Barrel among them. Who is the god of wokeness
with enough financial clout to get what he wants? Don't
expect significant change? Just to pause and another try. That
comment smacks of a comment based on knowledge. Interesting because
(21:58):
it goes back to the first question that was in
that in that chain. Why hasn't she been fired? Why
hasn't she been let go? Yeah, this isn't a good fit.
Time to move on. It's a great question. I'll tell
you what I think. What I think is they're waiting
for the storm to subside, and as they suggest, they're
(22:22):
gonna try doing what they're gonna do a different way.
They've already killed their food quality. Now can they return it?
Don't know. People that do work for the chain have
told me they have cratered their food prep services and
their food quality has gone to trash. Now do they
restore that? I don't know how long? I don't know.
(22:44):
Do they try to find a way to keep cutting?
I don't know. What I do know is they didn't
fire the person responsible for all of this. And until
there is there's a change at the look. As the
captain goes, so goes the ship and she's in charge.
(23:06):
And if she continues to be at the helm of
the ship, Cracker Barrel's going to continue to struggle at sea.
Forty seven minutes past the hour. You must hear what
I'm going to play next.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
The Morning Show with Preston Scott on News Radio one
hundred point seven doubled us la.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
All right, this is Christian author doctor Frank Turk. He
was the man behind Charlie Kirk with the baseball hat
that was fidgeting. He is one of Charlie's closest friends,
a mentor. Here's what he said, because he was with
Charlie to the end. So when he was hit.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
If your son got hit, what would you do? What
would you do? I got in the car.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
Because if there was any way I could save him,
I had to do something.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
No, I couldn't just well, you just take him. You
guys got it. So they got him into the side
of the car. It was an suv.
Speaker 6 (24:15):
It's the suv we took over, and I'm on one
side and there's actually some video there. Somebody's taking video
of this. I'm on one side of the car, the
right side, and they're getting Charlie in, so I run
over to the other side, but the guy was dragging
him in. It is now blocking that entrance. So at
that point I run around to the back. I popped
the top the back gate open and I jump in
(24:37):
the back. The car lurches forward. Apparently somebody jumped in
the cars. The car lurches forward, so I almost fall
out of the car the suv. Then I grabbed the
thing and close it. And there's five of us in
the car.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Now.
Speaker 6 (24:54):
Justin's driving, Dan is up front with the with the GPS.
Rick has got him Ricks on my left, and Brian
is there and I'm coming over the back seat and
Charlie's laid out in front, just right in front of me,
and Charlie's so tall we can't we can't close the door.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
We drove four.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
Miles some I don't know, it's four something miles all
the way to the hospital with the door open. To
this day, I don't know how Brian stayed in the
car because we're just.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
Go, go, go, go go. We're you know, we're trying
to do we're trying to stop the bleeding. You saw it,
and I'm yelling, come on, Charlie, come on, come on.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
Meanwhile, my phone is still on, my son and daughter
in law are here, and this whole thing, and a
security team again justin Dan, Brian and Rick. They love Charlie.
But they were much cooler than I. I mean, they're
just carrying out. They're calmly, but they're swiftly doing exactly
what they were trained to do. Rick starts praying out loud.
(25:54):
I'm praying out loud. We're yelling, come on, let's go,
let's go, let's go. My son's here and all this,
and we're doing the best we can to navigate traffic.
This is not a highway. We're on surface streets. And
suddenly there's an ambulance coming toward us, and there was
(26:15):
a conversation in the car.
Speaker 5 (26:16):
Should we stop.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
We're like, no, no, just keep going, just keep going.
The doctor later said that was the right thing to do.
Ambulance goes by us. We're still heading to the hospital,
trying to get there. At one point somebody says, let's
get there in one piece, because we're just we're cutting
through intersections, you know, if we're just beeping the horn.
This is not an emergency vehicle. There's no there's no lights,
(26:37):
there's none of this. And I go, we got to
start CPR. So I try and start that. Now, Charlie
wasn't there. His eyes were fixed, he wasn't looking at me.
(27:00):
He was looking past me, right into eternity. He was
with Jesus already. He was killed instantly and felt absolutely
no pain. That's what I was told later. But of
course we had to try. And by the way, there
was just just nothing, nothing any of us could do
(27:22):
about it. We were giving him CPR, but nothing was happening.
It wasn't like if we had better first aid, or
we had better medical facilities, or we're faster to the hospital,
we could have saved him.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
We couldn't.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
He goes on to say that if it's any comfort
at all, Charlie didn't suffer. They did get a heartbeat back,
but it didn't last. Those are the words of doctor
Frank Turrek Christian author who was considered a mentor to
Charlie Kirk. Now when we come back, you must hear
(27:57):
what I'm going to share. I need you now, all right,
(28:21):
five past the hour. It is the second hour, seven
o'clock Eastern, sixth Central. Here on the morning show with
Preston's got good morning friends. I am pressed in ruminators,
ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, males and females only,
that is Jose. I'm Preston, and this stopped me in
my tracks this morning. This wedged its way into the
(28:46):
show for reasons that I think will be very obvious.
We all have reservations about AI, right for good reason.
We have demonstrated on this program how artificial intelligence is
(29:09):
too often off the rails, unrestrained, and is guiding people
to make choices and to do things that are just
harmful and hurtful. But like anything else, there is another
side to artificial intelligence. It is helping people construct resumes,
(29:33):
It is helping doctors solve disease and illness. It is
creating ways to bring efficiencies into the workplace. And then
there's this other area where people younger in particular turn
(30:01):
to AI. Just because now, this came to me via
Trish Reagan. Trish used to be on Fox Business, I
think CNBC. She hosts her own show and podcast online
(30:24):
and she posted this. She did a segment on this
little exchange, and it's a young girl college age mourning
the loss of Charlie Kirk and asking one of the
artificial intelligence programs, what would Charlie have to say about
(30:48):
what happened? What would Charlie say? Now, if you're not aware,
artificial intelligence can craft a voice. That is the voice.
Artificial intelligence can grab sound from different sources and basically
construct a sentence, a paragraph, a thought, a series of thoughts.
(31:15):
When I heard this, I thought to myself, that is
exactly what Charlie Kirk would say.
Speaker 7 (31:24):
First, I want you to know I'm fine, not because
my body is fine, but because my soul is secure
in Christ. Death is not the end. It's a promotion.
Don't waste one second mourning me. I knew the risks
of standing up in this cultural moment, and I do
it all over again. Second, do not let this violence
divide us further. The enemy wants chaos, fear, and retaliation.
(31:47):
Don't give it to them. Instead, double down on truth,
double down on courage, double down on your faith and
on your families. That is how you honor me. Third,
remember this America.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Is worth it. Free speech is worth it.
Speaker 7 (32:02):
Fighting for the unborn, for families, for sanity and a
culture gone mad.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
It is all worth it.
Speaker 7 (32:07):
So dry your tears, pick up your cross and get
back in the fight. Do it with joy, do it
with strength, and never ever let evil think it won.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
Right. I've saved this because I'm going to play it
from time to time. That is AI But it's absolutely
consistent with what I think Charlie Kirk would say, and
(32:50):
I thought we all needed to hear that. This morning,
It's The Morning Show with Preston Scott double down on truth. Well,
(33:32):
in the spirit of that, I have posted on my
blog page. And I know for some of you blog
that is so old a blog who doesn't blog. I
get it. It's okay, I'm an old guy whatever. I
have posted the words of Robert M. Sterling. He's a marine,
(33:53):
he's a self described finance bro and he wrote down
a rant. Now, the only editing that I did on
my blog page, because I posted the whole thing, is
I changed a couple of exploit well one explative that
he used multiple times into the word into the initials bs.
(34:20):
You know what I'm saying. I think you know what
I'm saying. That's the only change I made. Didn't shorten
it did nothing, but I want to. I want you
to just consider a few of these words by mister Sterling.
My liberal friends are completely oblivious to how radicalizing the
last week has been for tens of millions of normal Americans.
(34:43):
Zero clue. I'm not talking about people who are online.
I mean regular everyday Americans, normies, people who scroll through
Facebook posts and Instagram reels from the Dutch Brothers, drive
through line political moderates who have water cooler chats about
mahomes touchdowns and bon Jovi concerts, not Twitter threads or
(35:05):
Rachel Maddow monologues. Millions of them, tens of millions. They're
logging on, they're engaging, and they're furious. And I'll be candid.
They blame you, guys. They blame the left, regardless of
whether you believe it to be justified. They think you're
the bad guys here, and they are reacting accordingly. I
(35:28):
can already hear some of you racing toward the comments
to start screeching in moral indignation. So I'm gonna be blunt,
shut up and listen to what I'm telling you. Your
movement will lose any semblance of relevance if you don't
develop a small measure of self awareness and absence someone
force feeding you bitter medicine. You guys collectively lack the
(35:51):
humility to do this on your own. So here are
some facts. Now, he breaks down some facts. I'm gonna
zero in on one fact. Three. Immediately after seeing the
footage of a peaceful young man get shot in the neck,
these same people logged on the Facebook and Instagram. Remember
we're talking about regular Americans, not perpetually online Twitter or
(36:11):
Blue Sky users, and saw some of their local nurses,
school teachers, college administrators, retail workers celebrating this horrific crime,
not just defending it, but cheering it. These are all facts.
You may not like the implications of these facts, and
we can certainly debate the underlying causes thereof, but indisputably,
(36:32):
they are nevertheless factual statements. These people are now sprinting,
not jogging, not walking, but racing to the right because
they blame you guys for everything that just happened. He
(36:53):
ends with, you probably don't like hearing this, but you
need to hear it. I'm right, and as you reflect
on this, you know I'm right. The ranks of my
political movement gained millions of righteously angry new members. This week.
We have a mandate to ensure these crimes never happen again,
(37:14):
and that's exactly what we're going to now do. If
you want to keep your seat at the table as
we do, so, you'd better clean house and start policing
your own now. In between, what I've read is a
lot more, and I encourage you to go check it
(37:35):
out for yourself. I saw it. Scott Beacon wrote about
it and posted it on his blog. I put it
on my blog page. It's out there for everybody to see.
It's brilliant, and I decided, why write why reinvent the wheel?
(37:56):
This guy said it brilliantly, and hopefully I've tea did
enough and wet your appetite enough to want some more,
because it summarizes the thoughts that so many have. Sixteen
past the hour, we're gonna come back and change gears.
We got Florida man coming up next. Come on, let's
(38:25):
all sing together. Well, if you read something insane, I
probably did it. I'm five four of the blockers.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Go ahead and google my name.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Now there be so man to the sins I have committed,
and we all feel the man away we have somebody
to play.
Speaker 8 (38:48):
Come on now, whatever the man.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
Yes, Florida man here on the Morning Show with Russell's
got two examples of a quint essential Florida man. First
comes comes the story of Michael Whitehead twenty seven. You
love it when the story just begins this way. A
(39:12):
Florida man was arrested. It just has a ring, doesn't it.
A Florida man was arrested after the FBI received a
tip from the man's high school friend about posts on
social media. Michael decided to post under his name, I
(39:33):
will personally do everything I can to domicide democide. Sorry, Republicans,
All American Conservatives will be systematically erased. I personally will
do everything I can to democide Republicans. Democide is a
reference to killing citizens by the government. Our oppressors will
(40:01):
suffer by my hand, his attorney. What can be misconstrued,
especially with politics these days, I can understand the fever
that's out there, dude, my man, Michael did not read
the room. This is no time to be making threats
(40:21):
of political nature. See, those are the types of things
that I think Pam Bondi's talking about. At least that's
what I hope that that kind of thing is what
you're talking about. And then there's the story of Paddlefish.
If you've ever been to Disney Springs, you know Paddlefish.
(40:42):
It's a restaurant on a replica steamboat that's at Disney
Springs in the shopping outlet. A dude, we don't know
who at this point unless there's a development of the
story I haven't found. Shortly after midnight on Monday, after
it closed, the guests were gone, dude comes out of
(41:07):
the water in scuba gear, spray paints the security camera,
takes the gear off, walks into the restaurant as the
staff is counting the money, does not brandish a weapon,
just says, give me all of the money, and he
(41:29):
tells him to go into the corner and close their eyes.
He then puts his scuba gear back on and swims away.
What he has gotten away with ten to twenty thousand
(41:51):
dollars in cash at least as of now. Now, the
question that I've under and anyone that's been out to
Disney understands because we've seen the stories. There are alligators
in those waterways and in those ponds and in those tributaries.
(42:15):
Now I can understand that lake right there at Disney
Springs may not have much, but they think he came
from Blake Lake and then swam through a stream, a
series of like streams to get to the big open
body of water in the middle of Disney Springs. Because
(42:36):
there are all kinds of undercover officers that are routinely
at Disney Springs, the security there is very high, even
if it's not visible. See, you gotta tip your cap.
Florida man doesn't just rob the restaurant the old fashioned way, now, No,
he comes with scuba gear and somehow avoids alligators. How
(43:03):
in the world did he pull that off? It's it's
it's just what you would expect from Florida Man. We've
got the big stories in the press box. We also
have what's the Beef Friday coming up. We'll get you
(43:26):
ready for What's the Beef with a beef Tea's FCC
explaining the problems that are being faced by broadcast outlets. Now,
I will tell you I'm very nervous at the comments
that Donald Trump's making. I don't like what he's saying
about speech. At this point, there's a line and we're
going to try to discern what that line is when
(43:47):
it comes to broadcasting, the networks and so forth. We'll
get to that as well in the next half hour
Here on the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Morning Show with Preston Scott. Sixty percent of the time,
it works every time on news Radio one hundred point
seven double UFLA.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
Time for the big stories in the press box. Here
on the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Now, imagine you
have been one of those people featured in the publisher's
clearinghouse commercials. They knock on the door and there's a
group of people outside with a film crew, cameras, balloons,
(44:37):
and a big cardboard check and you have won five
thousand dollars a week for the rest of your life.
And years go by and you get that annual installment
of two hundred and seventy some one thousand dollars a
(44:58):
year deposited into your account. You're like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait,
what do you mean. Well, if you do the math
and you go five thousand times fifty two, that's two
hundred and sixty thousand right there, all right, And so
they must tack on some extra something for some reason.
(45:21):
Because the guy was expecting a check one guy and
he said the check didn't come. Check didn't come. So
we were wondering, what's going on because we've been getting
checks for ten years. Every year we we got an
annual check. And actually he expected a check for two
(45:45):
hundred and sixty thousand dollars and it didn't show up.
So we were wondering what was going on. Well, Publisher's
clearing House has gone bankrupt. What here's the thing. The
company that bought the ass sets for Publishers Clearinghouse as
part of the agreement to help get them out out
of trouble, Publishers Clearinghouse and the company which is arb
(46:14):
interact of a mobile gaming company. Anyone who won prior
to July fifteenth of this year, their payouts are done.
So they're done. Now, imagine you're one of those, and
let's say you were fifty years old and you won
(46:37):
two hundred and sixty thousand dollars for the rest of
your life and you stopped working. Now you're in your sixties,
maybe seventies. Now what now what You're going to go
find a job making that kind of coin unless you
(47:01):
have a unique set of skills. No, you're not so.
Now what I just man, all those forever winners aren't
getting paid anymore. Charlie Kirk's widow, Erica, by a unanimous
vote of the Board of Directors, is the new CEO
(47:24):
of Turning Point USA. And it's a terrific choice if
Erica wants it. We asked last hour, what does she
do in that role? I look, she's bright. Does she
want to run the risk? Isn't that a consideration? The
(47:49):
risk of sitting at that table, sitting in a chair
open air. She's the mother of two children who have
just lost their dad. Does she take on that risk?
Does she do it only situationally once a month special segments.
(48:15):
We don't know any of that. What we know is
they're keeping on. They're going to keep doing what they're doing.
Does she run the company? We don't know that. We'll
hear from her. There's no doubt about it. I think
it was a brilliant choice, and if she's up to it,
she would be brilliant on campus and Senate Republicans actually
(48:42):
defeated the effort by Democrats along with two Republican Senators
Josh Holly and Ran Paul, they wanted the Epstein files released.
Holly and Paul said, yeah, they need to be released.
The problem is they wanted to do it inside of
Defense appropriation or a lot of Republican senators that said, no,
(49:02):
we need the files released, but that's not the way
to do it. So a little bit of a mixed bag.
I agree with the spirit of it, release the files,
stop it, let the chips fall where they may, but
we've never been good at that in this country. Forty
minutes past the hour, it is a slippery slope, this
(49:32):
speech free speech thing it is. I'm uncomfortable with some
of the talk out there. I'm not uncomfortable with all
of it. I thought it was interesting to go inside
what FCC chair Brendan Carr had to say about Jimmy
(49:54):
Kimmel being pulled from Disney ABC in response to several
of the large affiliate owners saying, we're not airing Jimmy
Kimmel alive. See when you don't air the show, all
the commercial inventory that's stacked inside the program doesn't air,
(50:15):
and your advertisers then are saying, I'm not getting a
third of the country or half of the country or whatever.
They don't make. They don't make the money that they
would expect to make. Now it should be pointed out
that Jimmy Kimme Alive and Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon
all are behind Greg Guttfeld. That's I'm still struggling understanding
(50:40):
how that happened. But then if you ever watch those shows,
I mean, Fallon is more tolerable to me than the rest.
But he's he's he's just not as oftentimes a a
liberal talking, parroting personnal for the left. He does it
(51:02):
less than the other two. The other two they quit
being a political and attempting to be funny and became
actual spokespersons for the Democrat Party. Carr said that when
Jimmy Kimmel said, quote, m malga gang desperately trying to
(51:23):
characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other
than one of them and doing everything they can to
score political points. According to Brendan Carr, that wasn't spoken
in the framework of a joke. It was a misstatement
of evidentiary fact that has been shared by law enforcement,
(51:48):
that has been echoed and confirmed by family that this
young man was radicalized to the left, just like we
talk about someone being radicalized to Islam and the extremist
vision of it. This guy was radicalized to the extremist
(52:09):
vision ideals of the left. So Carr said this that
under the FCC's jurisdiction over the air, networks like ABCNBC
and CBS operate under a license that requires them to
operate in the public interest, quoting broadcasters are different than
(52:30):
any form of communication. That Sinclair and Next Star were
standing up to serve the interests of their community, he said,
over the years, the FCC walked away from enforcing that
public interest obligation. I don't think we're better off as
a country for it, He said. This action today by
Next Star in Sinclair, frankly, it is unprecedented. I can't
(52:52):
imagine another time when we've had local broadcasters tell what
we call a national programmer like Disney that your content
is no longer meeting the needs and the values of
our community. He added on X broadcasters have long retained
the right to not air national programs they believe are
(53:13):
inconsistent with the public interest, including their local communities values,
and so that just it helps you maybe get your
head around why the FCC is interested in this. They
seem to have drawn a line on when we're dealing
with political actions that are in fact murder based on
(53:38):
political speech, or I would argue, in the case of
Charlie Kirk, religion, his Christian faith. I don't necessarily think
that Charlie Kirk was shot because he's a conservative. I
personally think he was shot because he's a Christian and
he spoke through the lens of his faith in Christ. However,
(54:11):
there are some things that are going on in Donald
Trump's fear and comments made about well, maybe this show
will be shut down, maybe that stop. Just let the
FCC do its job, Let the market do its job,
(54:34):
Let broadcast groups do its job. Do what they do.
They're now saying enough and if broadcast groups say enough
of the view, it'll take care of itself. We don't
need to fuel the idea that Donald Trump is a dictator,
and some of this talk opens the door to that.
(54:56):
Forty seven minutes past the hour. If you disagree, remember
we got what's the beef coming up?
Speaker 4 (55:04):
Sensey of sensibility, communicator of common sense amplified. It's The
Morning Show with Preston Scott. Now on the subject of speech,
four House Republicans blocked a resolution voting with all the
(55:31):
Democrats censuring Ilhan Omar for her comments about Charlie Kirk. Now,
one of them was Corey Mills of Florida. None of
them agreed with what she said. They thought her comments
(55:54):
were disgusting, et cetera, et cetera. One of them, Representative
Jeff Heard, a Republican out of Colorado, said her comments
about those who supported Charlie are ghoulish and evil. I
condemned them completely. But I voted against today's censure because
(56:14):
it tried to strip another member of Congress from committees
and to silence her for exercising the First Amendment right
to free speech. The right response to reprehensible speech isn't silencing,
it's more speech. That's what Charlie Kirk believed in practice,
and I agree. Here's the thing I get that I
(56:36):
also get.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
Is there a higher standard for members of Congress to
not engage in speech that incites violence or celebrates it.
I mean, it's almost like a rule of etiquette. And
(57:01):
it goes back to this idea that you can say
anything you want, but there are repercussions to certain things
that you might say. Say something really mean to your
wife or your husband, let me know how that works
out well. But you have free speech, but do you?
Isn't there supposed to be some kind of governor limited that.
(57:27):
You know, there's a Biblical passage that says, hey, all
things are possible. You can do anything you want. It's permissible,
but they're not necessarily profitable. You can do it, but
it's not going to work out well for you. And
I would say that as a member of Congress, there
ought to be a bit of a higher standard. And
isn't that, in fact why we're struggling right now? Now?
(57:48):
I'm separating out the fact that I don't think illhan
Omar should be in Congress at all. I believe her
statements about her home country first, what is it, Somalia
or whatever, disqualify her immediately, because when you take an
oath of allegiance to this country, you swear to forsake
(58:09):
your previous country. It's gone. So that disqualifies her. And
I think her Muslim faith disqualifies her. I'm of the
opinion being a Muslim disqualifies you from serving in Congress
because it's based on our laws. All laws legislate morality.
You can argue that all you want but you're going
(58:30):
to be wrong. All laws legislate morality. They say you
can't do certain things that's a moral thing. Right. As
a result, we take an oath. We expect our elected
leaders to take an oath of office on the Bible,
because our system of government, our laws are based on
(58:50):
the Judeo Christian Bible. Anyway, I think that ought to do.
It's What's to be Friday? You want to get in line.
We have four lines sitting there waiting for you. I
got a feeling, so let's get these lines packed up.
Eight five zero two zero five WFLA eight five zero
two zero five ninety three fifty two call now eight
(59:11):
five zero to zero five WFLA. I'm doing the what's
(59:38):
the Beef mojo over the phone lines. I can't believe it.
This is maybe the fewer than five times in twenty
three years of doing this segment have we entered it
without a single phone call waiting. Oh my gosh. If
(01:00:02):
you've ever wanted to be on the show, boy, now
is your chance. It's what's the Beef Friday here on
the morning Show with Preston Scott, and it's your chance
to get in because and especially those of you listening
on YouTube, you should be right now. Okay, we're now
into the show here, we've been at it. You can
(01:00:25):
get in now because the lines will not be full
if you're listening on the stream across the country, it's delayed,
and so there's a natural opportunity here for you to
jump in now. The lines are starting to fill up.
I'm just sitting in shock with everything going on, with
the ineptitude of Congress. Here we are, and we are
(01:00:52):
we are going out again saying call. So we have
two lines available now, So come on, now, come on,
come on, online listener, Come on, first time caller. It's
a first time Friday. I mean it makes it sound
like I'm just creating a sale. First time Friday callers
(01:01:16):
go now eight five zero two zero five w FLA.
What do you want to complain about? We have two
simple rules. Number one, no profanity. Number two, don't make
it personal. If you have a bad experience of the business,
by all means, tell us what happened. Just leave the
name of the business out of it. We don't want
to hurt anybody. We're here to help and people will
live through your beefs. They will live vicariously through whatever
(01:01:38):
it is that is just driving you up the wall. Mike,
thanks for bailing me out. Brother, you're up. What's the beef?
Speaker 8 (01:01:46):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
I'm so tired of these clowns talking about Jammie Kimmel.
I mean, he got what he deserved.
Speaker 9 (01:01:53):
Look him.
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
What happened Tucker Carlson? He was on Fox News as
soon as they lost their there, excuse me, lost their
suit against Old Dominion on the they fired him, yep,
and nobody said anything about that, So don't shave me
your crocodile tears. They're getting what they get. I mean,
(01:02:15):
it's about time that they stood up to these people.
Just like Greg Jeffiel said, thanks for everything. What you're doing.
Good day and have it. Get to talk to you soon.
Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
Thank you, Mike. Appreciate the phone call that freeze up. Well,
we it just adds to the free lines. We've got
three lines open. What's going out around here? Channeling my
inner Vince Lombardi. Let's go to Dave. Hey, Dave, thanks
for calling in. What's the beef?
Speaker 8 (01:02:42):
Hey, Prustin. I used to listen to Bill handle Handle
on the law Off Yep, you know, pretty darn often.
At about a year ago, I get in the car
and I'm listening to Bill and he starts beating up
on Rondosanthus. And a few weeks later I turned him
on you. I have another chance, let's do him. And
he's beaten up on Donald Trump. And the other day
(01:03:06):
I get in the car, it's on your station, and
and he's made it clear that now he wants to
talk about politics and wants to exercise his right to
announce to the world that he hates us, he hates conservatives.
And I can't stand the fact that he's still on
the air on your station, because I can't be the
only guy who has said no more, never done.
Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
Wait, I did not know this.
Speaker 8 (01:03:33):
Oh yeah, he hates us. He beats up on Ron
DeSantis all the time.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
WHOA that could be impacting some programming decisions. I'll certainly
let in my opinion be down. Uh, thank you, sir.
I appreciate it. Byby yeah, Now, I mean look there,
there's here's the thing. There's a reason why Air America
(01:04:04):
went bankrupt. It went bankrupt because illiberal talkers don't attract advertisers. Advertisers,
regardless of their politics, don't do well with illiberals. The
revenue streams just aren't there. Wow, all right, the lines
(01:04:27):
are all busy now eight five zero two zero five WFLA.
Just keep it in your pocket. We've got the lines packed.
Back with your calls. Next here on the Morning Show
with Preston Scott, Back with your calls. Whatever you want
(01:04:52):
to complain about. It's What's to be Friday. Here on
the Morning Show with Preston Scott. We judge, not your beefs.
We just asked you to keep it clean infinity and
don't make it personal. Let's go to Gary. Hi, Gary,
thanks for being patient, Good morning, Welcome.
Speaker 10 (01:05:06):
Hey, how you doing.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
I'm doing well, sir. What's your beef today?
Speaker 10 (01:05:13):
Well, if you know how y'all keep saying you don't
want to mention the name of a criminal.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
Yes, we don't name the names of shooters killers.
Speaker 10 (01:05:23):
But the guy that shot Charlie, y'all spent three hours
talking about him. So what's the difference.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
The difference is that we're not putting his name out there.
We talk about the acts, we talk about his life,
but we don't name him because the names are what
get googled. The names are they know the names are? What? What?
What the reason why someone does something I could cite
(01:05:52):
for you several recent mass shooters that listed as their
top reason they want to be known. Will you know
people by their name? I will not use their name.
Using their name perpetuates the problem. It won't stop it,
but it but it adds to it, right.
Speaker 10 (01:06:13):
I mean, it's just do not just know, y'all. It's
the media in general. Everybody keeps talking about him, Well,
just puts more out there people wanting to know more
about him.
Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
Well, Gary, to be fair, no, it is just us.
We are almost the only media outlet in the country
that does not use the names of these people. Megan
Kelly agrees with me. There are a couple of other outlets,
but we're about it. Others use the names over and
over and over. As a result, they have fan clubs.
(01:06:45):
The killer of the guy in in Manhattan that shot
the CEO for United Healthcare, he's a he's an icon.
He's getting marriage proposals because his name's all over away.
That's just that's my answer to your question or your complaint.
Speaker 10 (01:07:06):
But it makes it makes sense.
Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
Heay, look you it's fair. It's your beef and that's fair.
I don't take it personally. It's fine. I just explained
to you the difference and why I've taken the position
I have. And uh, but I appreciate you calling in,
my friend. I do very much. Ron, you're up. What's
the beef?
Speaker 11 (01:07:26):
Good morning fashion.
Speaker 9 (01:07:27):
Thank you very much for all you do.
Speaker 12 (01:07:30):
And I was listening to the other side, the.
Speaker 11 (01:07:32):
NPR stations, just to get their information, and they still
put out so much rhetoric about, you know, the right
and they had something to come up the other day
about the percentage of violent crimes with seventy six percent
of the right wing, and I thought, where are they
getting their statistics at, you know, I mean, it's it's
(01:07:54):
just unbelievable. I can't believe it.
Speaker 9 (01:07:58):
Yeah, they got of somehow or another.
Speaker 11 (01:08:00):
You can you cannot say that they are not on
their side.
Speaker 8 (01:08:05):
It's terrible.
Speaker 1 (01:08:05):
Yeah, I have seen Ron. Thanks very much for the
phone call. As always, they are scrubbing the numbers and
they are really grasping for straws because we can go
through the list of major events, we can go through
the rioting, we can go through all of what's happened,
(01:08:25):
and for every event that's happened to somebody on the left.
First it wasn't necessarily somebody on the right that was involved.
But when it is A, we're not celebrating, and B
we condemn those things. There's nothing but silence on the left.
Not that's not fair. There's nothing but silence from the
extreme left on most of this stuff. We've even talked
(01:08:49):
about shootings. How you know when when somebody used a
an AR fifteen and they missed. With Donald Trump, I mean,
there were no calls for gun control because the guy missed.
You know, that's the thing. It's very misleading. But thanks
very much. We're gonna get to all the rest of
(01:09:10):
you in our next segment. Four callers up, Four callers
to go at the very least to what's the bee
Friday in the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Final set
of calls here Friday, that means, what's the beef here
(01:09:33):
on the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Greg has been
standing by. All right, Greg, I'm teeing you up, buddy,
Go Greg, Greg, Hello, going once, going.
Speaker 9 (01:09:50):
Twice, Hello, you're still there.
Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
You almost lost it?
Speaker 9 (01:09:54):
Greg, Okay, Thankfully I'm learned to be concise and stay
on point. My beef is Hannah Ironfinder's Emmy speech where
I am a Jew who's allowed to criticize Israel. It
ended with expletive deleted, ice free Palestine, and she failed
to mention what she said after the ceremony that Hacks
(01:10:19):
gets one more season, so she's destined for obscurity.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
No kidding. Thanks very much, Greg, appreciate it. Glad you
got in there. Gunny calling all the way from Wisconsin.
How are you, sir?
Speaker 12 (01:10:32):
Good morning, pression. How are you doing?
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
I'm terrific. What you got for me? What's the beef?
Speaker 12 (01:10:36):
Nothing motivates me like a Visulain Pardi quote that and
Michael the first caller. I just might remind everybody that
Tucker Carlson was fired after Senator Schumer went to the
well of the Senate floor and darn near demanded Fox
News fired him.
Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
Appreciate that you got anything else for me today?
Speaker 12 (01:11:03):
No, just another beautiful day and was used and enjoy
your ninety degree.
Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
Hey, thank you, it's actually beautiful down here as well.
Appreciate that. Let's go to Ray. Hi, Ray, thanks for
calling in. What's the beef?
Speaker 13 (01:11:15):
Good morning?
Speaker 12 (01:11:15):
Am I on you are okay?
Speaker 13 (01:11:19):
My beef is that I went to the commissioner meeting
the other night and they passed a plan to build
over two thousand new units by Lake Jackson on North
Monroe Street. North Monroe Corridor, already poorly developed in heavy traffic,
this new plan will deeply affect the whole North Monroe
North side of town traffic pattern. My beef is, at
(01:11:43):
the last meeting in June, the mayor promised to take
one year to get all those affected time to develop
a good plan. Well, they passed this plan just a
few days ago. My beef is when you can't trust
what commissioners tell you and mayors.
Speaker 1 (01:12:01):
Oh yeah, yep, I hear you. It's why we don't
have the mayor on the show anymore. He said something
on the show that he was going to vote a
certain way, and they went and voted another way that
very day. And it's like, I thought you said this,
this was anyway. I hear you, I hear you. Thank
you very much, appreciate the call. Let's go to Robin. Hi, Robin,
(01:12:22):
you're up. What's the beef, Hi, Preston.
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
Good morning morning.
Speaker 13 (01:12:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (01:12:27):
My beef is, so we've got a school and so
all the traffic kind of gets bottlenecked, you know, and
everybody's trying to go the same way, and when I'm
on the straightaway and I've got the green, you don't
go through it because you're trying to go slow and
not you know, block up the middle of the of
the intersection, and the people come the other way trying
to make a right onto the same one will sneak
(01:12:49):
in even though they have the red light.
Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
Yep.
Speaker 14 (01:12:52):
It's just very frustrating.
Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
It is. Can I take advantage of you being with
me here?
Speaker 14 (01:12:57):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Ask you a quick question? Why do you drive your
kids to school as opposed to are you too close
for the bus or are you just a preference?
Speaker 14 (01:13:07):
That is an excellent question. I prefer bussing, but my
son goes to a Catholic school, so I have to
drive them.
Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
So you got to drive them and you got to
endure the pickup and drop off. Yeah, gotcha. Thank you
very much, appreciate that. Final caller here is Jeffrey. Jeffrey,
thanks for calling in this morning. You are on the air,
my friend. And what's the beef?
Speaker 15 (01:13:29):
I hope this doesn't disturb everybody's weekend, But oh.
Speaker 1 (01:13:33):
Boy, should I start playing the music now?
Speaker 15 (01:13:39):
Well? Well, you know, for people who followed a little
bit of Trump's visit to London. He did mention this
on the sidebar of his conversations over there. But I
think in our time I'm in my seventies, but in
my time, at least two of the greatest strategic problem
(01:14:00):
of this country were set in motion, and now there's
not too much can be done about it. One is
what Trump mentioned was that giving up that airfield in Afghanistan,
which Trump said that even if he had turned Afghan
stopped the Afghan war, he would have wanted to keep
that airfield. It was only hours away from where China's
(01:14:22):
nuclear systems are situated. This was a great mistake. And
the other is which a lot of your people probably
don't know about, is North Korea right now is undergoing
the building of a huge processing uranium plant in North Korea.
These two situations I think will affect our children's future.
Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
Thank you very much. I appreciate the call, Jeffrey. I
would love for you to send me an email on
that ladder story. You got something on that North Korea thing,
love to know what the no always are doing. Send
it my way. Appreciate Preston at iHeartRadio dot com. I
know that you're a little older, so my I if
(01:15:09):
I can do it, you can do it. Preston at
iHeartRadio dot Com twenty seven pass we come back help
for your yard. The seasons put some stress on the
yard and we're gonna help you out. Next here on
the Morning Show with Preston Scott WFLA. I would argue,
(01:15:40):
this music is calling you to your yard. It's sending
you to your yard, and we're gonna help from the
ground up. General manager at Esposito Garden Center is Mary Rock.
Speaker 5 (01:15:56):
Mary, how are you hey?
Speaker 15 (01:15:58):
Good morning?
Speaker 4 (01:15:59):
I'm good.
Speaker 16 (01:15:59):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
I am terrific. However, my lawn might not be. And
I think I'm speaking on behalf of many people from
here to Panama City and beyond in South Georgia and
the Panhandle and the Big Bend, and their yards are
stressed because they're not getting much water. There's not a
lot of rain. And now we're worried because isn't this
(01:16:23):
We're getting into weed season, aren't we?
Speaker 16 (01:16:26):
We are in the sick of weed season. We've really
been in weed season all summer. We've seen a yeah,
we've really seen a larger amount of folks coming in
to the store with their weed samples. That will identify
and get in the right product, you know to take
care of them, and that this year it has been
(01:16:47):
abundant and as far as weeds go.
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
So what would you say to somebody that is listening
right now that is like been fighting the good fight,
but they're just not winning the war.
Speaker 16 (01:16:59):
It takes time. You're not going to eradicate or eliminate
all the weeds in your yard ever, even getting your
your weeds under control. It just takes time. It's not
done something that's done quickly, and it takes consistency. It
takes a routine, a schedule of using you know, however
(01:17:21):
you want to do it. If you want to use
post emergence to kill and then using pre emergents to
suppress the weeds, they have to be used in a
in a routine throughout the year so that you have
that consistent weed control and suppression.
Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
Before we get into a couple specifics, do pre emergence
really work.
Speaker 16 (01:17:44):
They do if they're used properly. There One of the
pre emergence we used use is called dimension and it
works very well. The way it works is it it
makes a gas barrier at the surface of the soil.
So when those weed seeds try to sprout up, it
kills them. A lot of people make the mistake, and
(01:18:09):
we try to tell everybody that buys it from us
it needs to be the last step in your lawn work.
Or if you're putting it in your flower beds, which
you can. You can put it around flowers, tree shrubs,
et cetera. Okay, once you put it down and watered in,
you don't want to disturb the area. So if you
put it in your let's say your landscape bed with
(01:18:29):
all of your annuals, and you put the dimension down,
you water it in, and then a few days later
you go out there and you start digging or pulling weeds, well,
you're breaking that gas barrier, so you're not going to
have that coverage there. So it needs to be the
final step and it needs to be undisturbed. And then
using it every you know, ninety days will really really
(01:18:53):
help get everything under control.
Speaker 1 (01:18:55):
If it's on your lawn, I mean you're obviously going
to be mowing your grass every week or so, if not,
maybe even a little more frequently depending on your grass.
Does that disturb it?
Speaker 16 (01:19:07):
No, not at all, because you're with your lawnmower you're
at the surface. You know, you're not at the surface
of the soil. You're up higher. You know, you're up
at the tops of the grass. So yeah, you need
kind of you know, digging, poking, pulling, that kind of thing.
It can break that barrier. So you just got to
you got to know these things in order to be successful.
And we try really hard to let everyone know that
(01:19:30):
we help these these steps.
Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
So if we're looking at the calendar, we're in the
middle of September. Latter part, Now, what should what should
people be doing? And is it dependent on the type
of grass you have?
Speaker 16 (01:19:44):
Yes, and no, A lot of it depends on the
type of grass. We're getting into hopefully fall soon, fall
light weather. People are already coming in their one to
winter rise. It's a little early winter rise. You were
only in September. We still have a way to go.
And typically in our region because we don't we have
summer sometimes through you know, December, you have until the
(01:20:10):
first to mid part of November. A lot of it
is really dependent on our weather. And right now, with
it being as dry as it is, it's really ideal
just to kind of, you know, keep the grass watered.
You know, if it needs it, and that I would
hold off on fertilization right now just because it is
(01:20:31):
so dry. We are seeing an influx of chinchbugs, which
is an insect. They thrive in hot, dry weather, so
they're they're loving it right now, sir.
Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Should we be putting something down for those little friends?
Speaker 16 (01:20:46):
If you have them, Absolutely, They're not easy to prevent.
What we do is we ask people, if they think
they have an insect problem or a fungal problem, to
cut out a piece of their lawn that's about the
size of a dinner plate, root, start and everything. Bring
it in. It needs to be the green grass that
(01:21:07):
borders the area where the grass is dying. Dead grass
really doesn't tell you anything other than it's dead. And
what we do is we check it. We check it
for fungus, we check it for insects, and from there
we get you, the customer, what they need to fix
the problem.
Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
Perfect, Mary, Thanks very much. I appreciate the time. We'll
talk again soon.
Speaker 16 (01:21:28):
All right, thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
Mary, Rock Esposito Garden Center espositogardencenter dot com. I'm gonna
take you in a different direction in our good news
segment this week.
Speaker 8 (01:21:50):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:21:50):
If you're new to the radio program. Let me just
get this set on the front end. If you're new
to the show, it would be so easy for you
to sit back and go, well, why not do good
news every day?
Speaker 14 (01:22:03):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (01:22:03):
How about all show long? Well, go ahead and try it, friend,
It's hard to find it, just is. You couldn't. It
would be so hard to do an entire show of
nothing but good news. And here's the dirty little truth.
(01:22:23):
People wouldn't listen. They'd listen for a while, but then
they'd be like drawn to hearing about the bad news
because news is inherently, by its nature negative. Well, we
want to make sure that we are able to share
what's going on in our world together collectively and offer
(01:22:45):
a little bit of thought on how to maybe consider it,
and then you do your thing. You know, we are
the counterbalance to the mainstream media. That's how we view
ourselves here. But in this good news segment today, I've
decided to share something good that came out of artificial intelligence.
(01:23:12):
I shared this earlier in the program, and because I
know that we do have some transitory considerations here, there
are people that listen for the first hour and not
the second or third. They listened to the second hour,
but not the first and third, third hour, not the
second or the first, and so it just it changes.
And I know that a lot of you did not
(01:23:32):
hear this, and I know that many of you who
did would love to hear it again. And so I
have saved this. This comes from Trish Reagan, former host
at Fox Business CNBC. She's been at it for a while.
She's got a podcast and does her own online thing.
And she shared a clip of a young lady on
(01:23:52):
TikTok that was really struggling in the wake of Charlie
Kirk's assassination. Now trust me, this is good news. Stay
with me. And she just decided, as a lot of
young people might do, she turned to one of the
big AI services out there and asked, what would Charlie
Kirk say in response to what happened to him? To
(01:24:17):
his own assassination? What would Charlie Kirk say? And this
is what AI produced.
Speaker 7 (01:24:27):
First, I want you to know I'm fine, not because
my body is fine, but because my soul is secure
in Christ.
Speaker 2 (01:24:34):
Death is not the end.
Speaker 7 (01:24:35):
It's a promotion. Don't waste one second mourning me. I
knew the risks of standing up in this cultural moment,
and I do it all over again. Second, do not
let this violence divide us further. The enemy wants chaos, fear,
and retaliation.
Speaker 17 (01:24:50):
Don't give it to them.
Speaker 7 (01:24:51):
Instead, double down on truth, double down on courage, double
down on your faith and on your families. That is
how you honor me. Third, remember this America.
Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
Is worth it. Free speech is worth it.
Speaker 7 (01:25:04):
Fighting for the unborn, for families, for sanity, and a
culture gone mad.
Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
It is all worth it.
Speaker 7 (01:25:10):
So dry your tears, pick up your cross and get
back in the fight. Do it with joy, do it
with strength, and never ever let evil think it.
Speaker 8 (01:25:18):
One.
Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
That is what I think Charlie Kirk would say. I
think AI nailed it in this case. Yes, there are
dangers in AI, plenty of them. But I mean that's
Charlie's voice, just arranged by artificial intelligence to say something
(01:25:46):
that I think is Wouldn't you say that's consistent with
everything you ever heard come out of Charlie Kirk's mouth.
One two three, Double down, truth, more courage, more faith.
Speaker 17 (01:26:05):
France, that's good news.
Speaker 1 (01:26:19):
Fridays are special, especially with this weekend. I mean, we
got we got football, FSU football our companion station. You'll

I feel like I feel obliged to say it that way.

dad joke. We always arm you with something to share

his head? Because from a distance they look like hairs?
Speaker 8 (01:27:25):
So good?
Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
