Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good and welcome to Wednesday, December the three in the
Morning Show with Preston Scott. He's ose, I'm pressing. I
am festively dressed in my Christmas sweater and it just
makes me smile to wear this ugly sweater covered in

(00:32):
Santa Claus. It's it's it's not one of those three
D things that's popular now, which are, by the way, awesome.
This is an old school kind of cardigan button sweater
and so my thanks to my my sweet and lovely
wife who got this for me. But welcome friends to

(00:53):
Wednesday Show fifty five oh five. Let's get right to
some scripture here, and this is good. It's a good
story that will reverse this a little bit. We've been
talking about Christmas hymns and songs that are deeply scriptural.

(01:15):
We're going to reverse this a little bit and we're
going to go to a Christmas song that's not necessarily
right out of the Bible. But well, just stay with
me here, okay. In Luke ten, we have this encounter

(01:36):
between Mary, Martha and Jesus. Listen to how this unfolds.
It begins at verse twenty eight. Now, as they went
on their way, Jesus entered a village. A woman named
Martha welcomed him into her house. She had a sister
called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened

(01:57):
to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving,
and she went up to him and said, Lord, do
you not care that my sister has left me to
serve alone? Tell her to help me. The Lord answered Martha, Martha.

(02:22):
By the way, when you get a double touch, when
you get the name twice, you better just take a
minute and listen. It's like when you're talking to your kids, Biff, Biff, Missy, eh, missy.
You know what I'm saying. Martha, Martha. You are anxious

(02:49):
and troubled about many things, but the one thing is necessary.
Mary has chosen the good portion which will not be
taken away from her, sort of to paraphrase from Indiana
Jones and the last crusade, Mary has chosen wisely. All right, now,

(03:16):
let's go to the Christmas song. Have yourself a merry
little Christmas. Let your heart be light. From now on
our troubles will be out of sight. Those verses from

(03:38):
Luke ten talk about uncluttering our mind and our life.
Could you imagine if we set aside. The greatest gift
at this time of year being the gift of your salvation,

(04:00):
right you being a Christian receiving Christ as your savior,
and seriously taking that to heart, right, I mean, your
eternal place secured, greatest gift of all. If we've secured that,

(04:23):
and we can, then maybe this Christmas learned the ability
to focus on the important things and unclutter our mind
and have ourselves a merry little Christmas, says Christmas the

(04:49):
song says, Christmas, Christ. What a gift that would be
to carry with you all year long, to learn now
how to unclutter and to not be anxious about all
this stuff that's going on in your world. It just calm,

(05:19):
sit and listen to Jesus, spend a little time with
his word. I feel better already ten past the.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Hour on news radio one hundred point seven, Double Usla.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Tell you about the show in a moment. First, a
peek inside the American Patriots Almanac. A'll tape together. I
had add some tape to it, parts tearing up and
folding up, and I love it, love it. Uh. December third,
eighteen oh five, Lewis and Clark, having reached the Pacific

(06:11):
coast look for a spot to make winter camp. I
wonder what they sounded like. I've got to believe they
had a little British accent to them right eighteen oh five,
but maybe not. Maybe they were you know, I don't

(06:35):
know what the dialect might have been. But you imagine
you've you've, you've just you're going until you're stopped. You're
just going west and you're just following your rudimentary guidance
devices heading west, and all of a sudden you see

(06:59):
a very big thing called the ocean. I believe we'll
stop here. I wonder if there was any part of
them that wanted to just see how far that coast
went north or south? Could you imagine how long that
journey would have lasted. If you'd have gone south, you'd
have been going all the way through California, down in

(07:22):
New Mexico into South America. You did just until you
reach the tip of South America, and then if you
went around that tip, then started walking north, maybe coming
back up to Florida eventually, because you'd hook into Mexico again,

(07:46):
South America to Mexico into what is now Texas, Louisiana
over Mississippi, Alabama to what is now Florida. Then you
go back south again.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
You're like, what in the world are we doing?

Speaker 1 (07:57):
We're going mex south. Then you get to the end
of the peninsula of Florida. Then you'd be back north.
That'd be crazy, that would just be insane, all right.
Eighteen eighteen, Illinois becomes the twenty first state buyer's remorse
just saying. Eighteen twenty eight, Andrew Jackson elected the seventh

(08:18):
US president. Street car named Desire by Tennessee Williams opens
on Broadway in nineteen forty seven. Pioneer ten obtains the
first close up images of Jupiter in nineteen seventy three.
You ever seen Jupiter in a telescope? No signor it's impressive?

(08:39):
What really freaked me out when I say, and it
wasn't like the most expensive telescope, but it was an
okay telescope. Seeing Saturn, seeing Saturn suspended in space out
there was crazy. Wow. And it's just it was so

(09:04):
small in the lens of the telescope. Like I said,
it was an expensive one. But yeah, never lost my
wonder when I see what God has made. H let's
see National Package Protection day. Oh you think I guess
all the stuff ordered at Black Friday and Cyber Monday

(09:24):
starts rolling in Wednesday after Thanksgiving National Package Protection Day.
You see the videos. I'm growing weary of so many
videos that are now AI where it's like, oh, stop it.
A bald eagle didn't crash into the church, land on

(09:45):
the floor and have to be prayed to back to
life and then came back in and and rested on
the pastor's shoulder and then nested in. No, no, no, no, no,
it didn't happen. They didn't just oh, look at the
camera perfectly captured the eagle flying at the bald eagle

(10:07):
flying into the church. No, stop it. And then you've
got now these phony YouTube shorts I'm sure they're on
TikTok and Instagram of people being porch pirates, and then

(10:28):
the phony police show up and laugh at them, and
it's like, why would you call the police? You just
you were robbing. I mean, it's it's outlandish. It's like,
stop it.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
See the one with the glitter bombs, Well, yeah, I
never know if those are real or not.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
And I hate well, the first set done by Mark
Robert are absolutely real because that he started that a
few years ago. He's the inventor of the glitter bomb
that I mean, but so much this stuff is now staged.
I don't know what's worse, the fake AI or the

(11:04):
staged They're both rotten to me. I mean, there are
things that if they're overtly staged, and you're you're making
it clear that it's staged and you're just having a laugh,
that's one thing. But when you're trying to portray it
as serious and it's obviously not, it's it's staged that
annoys me. I'm becoming a curmudge. Seventeen minutes past the hour, west.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
LA on your phone with the iHeart radio app and
on hundreds of devices like Alexa, Google Home, Xbox and
so noos, says Chris or an Iheart's radiosation.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
I was just looking at Donald Trump doing it, first
of all, And when did Joe Biden bring the cameras
in for cabinet meetings? Right exactly? And when you heard
Joe just taking questions? Was he ever without notes? Was

(12:15):
he ever able to answer? Did he ever really engage?
And if so, how often you look at Trump? And
I may not like everything the guy says, but my god,
he's coherent.

Speaker 6 (12:36):
He is.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
One lucid. Joe was doddering and I sure loves some
ice cream. I mean he was in a fog all
the time. Bless his heart. His wife is evil way

(13:01):
she forced him into all of that. And of course
now he wanted it. He wanted to be president so
bad he sold his soul for it. I hope he
gets it back. Were you a Pokemon kid? No? No,
not not too big. I did have. I did dip

(13:22):
my toes in the water at some point because my
son Jordan, as you well know, was a was into
the Pokemon thing and still as I'm guessing, probably a
pretty high regard for the whole world of Pokemon. Let
me drop some knowledge on you here. Had you kept

(13:44):
those cards? A game stop in Texas, customer traded in
a Pokemon card, a fully authenticated PSA ten Holo gangar. Now,

(14:06):
I don't know what a holo gangar is, but a
Holo gangar, verified, authenticated, inspected everything. The man walked out
with a check for thirty thousand, four hundred and ninety
four dollars and seventy cents excuse me, which is thirty

(14:32):
three hundred and eighty eight dollars and thirty cents under
fair market value. So the store if it, if it
goes on the market with it, would be able to
make about thirty three hundred dollars profit. I looked. I

(14:52):
did some digging though. Check this out. If you had
bought the Charizard in the first in the base set,
first edition Holo, they call it the Holy Grail, you

(15:14):
would have paid two dollars and forty seven cents for
a set at Walmart. If you'd have taken one thousand
dollars and bought a bunch of sets, you could have
bought four hundred and four sets. Okay, if they all
had had an original issue Charizard, that one thousand dollars

(15:35):
in March of twenty twenty two would have been valued
at one hundred and seventy million dollars. If there was
a Charizard in only half of the sets, it would
be eighty four million dollars. The market is cooled to

(15:56):
a little, but this goes back to why people buy collectibles.
There's a there's a market, and if you're wise about it,
you can actually return more than you can in the market.
It's just it's crazy anyway. I was just curious if

(16:18):
you were a Pokemon guy. I've never understood any of it. Never.
When my grandson said that we wanted that we were
looking for Pokemons, I was like, okay. And we were
sitting in the car waiting for his mom for an appointment,
and I had him and he's like there he is
right there. Who it's Jarnie's hard. Oh wait a minute,

(16:43):
I see him up climbing up the building. Right. Yes,
I was brilliant. Twenty seven pass.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Weather, traffic and the big stories in the press box,
the fastest three hours in media. And don't be surprised
if you have a chuckle here and there, just like that,
It's The Morning Show with Preston Scott.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
I was listening to a panel discussion last night on
TBN with my wife. On the panel was the host
who's the pastor of a church, large church in Tennessee,
Sage Steel, Jason Whitlock, Alex Marlow, Breitbart who is the

(17:44):
boss of our friend Jerome Hudson, and Eric Mantexas. And
Alex Marlow made a statement that I found very affirming.
He said people now go and are searching for places.

(18:05):
He said, you know, in the old days, you would
get your news at trusted sources, and then you would
turn to the opinion page you would get opinions separate.
He said, Today people are looking for sources to find
the news, honest news and opinion together. And to paraphrase,

(18:30):
what would be incredible, he said, is if you could
find people that would give you news, opinion, and God's
word and how scripture approaches the issues that we're dealing
with and talking about. And I just smiled and looked
at my wife and I said, I feel so affirmed.

(18:56):
I've been doing it for twenty three plus years. There
was definitely a turning point where I became far more
bold about talking about Jesus on the program. I routinely
did it, but I remember the meeting and it was like, Okay,

(19:17):
let's do this more. And we've just progressively talked more
and more about it. And my reasoning is because most
people believe in God. There are many that don't, but
most do. And I think it's what binds us together.
That is not the big story in the press box.

(19:37):
The big stories in the press box today point to
the favor in some regards, at least this first one
that God has given us. Justin Haskins, who oh, by
the way, loves Jesus. He's an unafraid, unashamed Christian. I'd

(20:01):
like to think that's why Justin and I became friends.
There is just something deeper. Why else would he take
the time when he's doing Fox News and all these,
you know, other hits nationwide, Glenn Beck writing books with
Why would he take time with me and with us?

(20:23):
It's because there's there's something there. It's our faith, it's
our common love of Jesus. He told us last month,
early in November about the polling of young people that
they did with Rasmussen. It's now news. He told us

(20:48):
about the poll a month ago. Fifty one percent of
young voters preferred Democratic Socialists for twenty twenty eight. But
get this, lest all of us disconnect ourselves from that reality,

(21:10):
respondents cited parents, online, videos or podcasts, and books as
the most influential supports on their ideology. Four percent also
said parents or guardians were favorable towards democratic socialism when
they were growing up. See, I don't believe that. Here's

(21:31):
what I believe. I believe that they think that their
parents were favorable because they didn't say anything else. They
didn't argue for capitalism and a constitutional republic. They didn't
speak about the horrors of socialism. They didn't talk about it.
So that's my opinion on that. But we'll talk to

(21:54):
Justin about it next week. My goodness, there's some more
big story as we'll get to those next Christmas tree.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Oh the fun doesn't stop here. Find more on his
vlog double u f L a f M dot com.
Keyword Preston, I've ever seen the videos of the dude that.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
Goes crazy in stadium's arenas to uh Billy Idol's version
of money Mooney. It's hilarious. It's the guy turned it
into a thing.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
The way you started dancing to this bump music. You
terrified me. My my heart literally stopped.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Terrifies me too. It Yeah, it's just the guy makes
me laugh. He's so focused on what he's doing, and
he gets brought in by arenas to do these things,
to give way shirts and stuff like that. He'll put
on like fifteen shirts and he'll start getting the crowd
riled up, and then he'll start stripping off these shirts
and throwing themto people. It's brilliant. You don't know what

(23:18):
I'm talking about, do you? Yeah? I'll find it for you.
Other big stories in the press box. This will not
make you feel good when you're on the interstates. Ready.
The Department of Transportation has shut down three thousand, just
under three thousand commercial Driver's licensed training providers because they

(23:49):
falsified or manipulated training data, failed to maintain accurate and
complete documentation, refused to provide records during federal investigations or audits,
neglected to meet the required curriculum standards, instructor qualifications, or
facility conditions. Out of sixteen thousand nationwide, they've shut down

(24:12):
nearly twenty five percent nearly twenty five percent of the
CDL providers of the training facilities. But get this, an
additional forty five hundred we're put on notice for potential

(24:34):
non compliance. Now, think about who's on the roads, professional truckers.
If you want to protect your industry, you need to
rid them out. You need to rad out the drivers

(24:58):
that don't have proper notifications that went to the ACME
School of whatever. Along the same lines, guess how many
illegal immigrants receive Social Security numbers from the Biden administration. Now,

(25:20):
remember Democrats have been saying they're not getting ill illegals
are not getting Social Security numbers, yet somehow they were
paying taxes and contributing to the economy. Okay, not sure
how you can work both ways. I see, here's how
a Democrat views that though. By going to the grocery
store and paying taxes. At the grocery store, they're paying taxes,

(25:43):
and from a technical perspective, they are. But that's not
what we're talking about. But here's what we now know.
Nearly four million non citizens received the Social Security number
during the Biden administration, with virtually zero vetting none. Four million.

(26:17):
This isn't about keeping families together. This is about voters.
This is Democrats desperately needing to stop the flood of
people engaged in the exodus from the party. That's what
this is about, and it's shameful. Forty six past the hour.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
OOO, enjoy forget to subscribe to the Conversations with Preston
Scott podcast on the iHeartRadio app. Welcome to the Morning
Show with Preston Scott.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
You go to my blog page. You will see what
I've titled the Mother of All Sets and Christmas Villages.
I mean, my goodness, this thing is incredible. Took three
weeks for this guy to put up takes up an
entire room in his home. It is spectacular, eleven running trains,

(27:19):
two hundred and fifty houses, over one thousand display people.
It's this massive city that he constructs every year just
at the holiday. He said, that's what makes it special,
just having it up during the year. I agree, that's
what makes it cool is it's just a limited time thing.

(27:42):
And I guess that's what I've I've come to appreciate
about a McRib. It's just limited now. That's it. That's it.
I hungry for one right now, all right, Pete Hegseith,
guess who has blown up the attack story of the
Washington Post, which Democrats have jumped on saying that Pete

(28:06):
Hegsith committed war crimes by ordering a second strike on
those people clinging to the boat. The New York Times,
speaking with five different sources that were in the room,
said that when Hegxith said kill them all, it was

(28:29):
before any strike had ever taken place. He was speaking
about the purpose of the mission. Hegxith responded to what
has been going on in the media and what Democrats
are saying, as usual, the fake news is delivering more fabricated, inflammatory,

(28:50):
derogatory reporting to discredit our incredible warriors fighting to protect
the homeland. As we've said from the beginning in every statement,
these highly effective strikes are intended to be lethal kinetic strikes.
The declared intent is to stop lethal drugs, destroy narco boats,
and kill the Narco terrorists who are poisoning the American people.

(29:13):
Every trafficker we kill is affiliated with a designated terrorist organization.
The Biden administration preferred the kid gloves approach, allowing millions
of people, including dangerous cartels and unvetted Afghans, to flood
our communities with drugs and violence. The Trump administration has
sealed the border and has gone on a fence against

(29:36):
Narco terrorists Biden coddled terrorists. We kill them. Our current
operations in the Caribbean are lawful under both US and
international law, with all actions and compliance with the law
of armed conflict approved by the best military and civilian

(29:57):
lawyers up and down the chain of command. Our warrior
in Southcomb put their lives on the line every day
to protect the homeland from Narco terrorists, and I will
always have their back. Boom Shakaalaca but isn't it interesting
that The New York Times has come out and said,
ah about that story that the Wappo did. There's a

(30:21):
shift at the Times. Don't know how deep, but you
may remember a new editor at the Times that is
shaking things up a little bit, just saying second story
about Pete Hegseith, you ready for this. He has cut
ties with the organization formerly known as the Boy Scouts

(30:44):
of America. Very few people knew this other than those
in the Boy Scouts, but the Boy Scouts, by congressional charter,
used to have access to US military bases, among other things.
He Sith said, those perks are coming to an end.

(31:07):
The group once known as the Boy Scouts is no
longer a meritocracy, and he has become an organization designed
to attack boy friendly spaces, and so he will no
longer have any affiliation. Some say he does not have
the authority. Nprs out there saying Hexith doesn't have the
legal authority to do that, except the law says it
is at the discretion of the Secretary of Defense. Oops.

(31:34):
I love it, because the Boy Scouts became what is
it Scouting America? Whatever?

Speaker 7 (31:46):
Come back, time do a little shop it on the
morning show.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Spirit of Christmas Underway Orphanshade dot com. We have not
gotten an updated total, but based on a couple of
notes Jane Stace, who were traveling yesterday, I am guessing
that we are probably over forty seven thousand, which means
we're less than eight thousand dollars away from our goal.

(32:23):
So if you can help, our goal is fifty five
thousand dollars, we're probably at about forty seven, give or take.
And if you can help us, there is not a
gift that is too small. There's not a gift that's
too large other than more than eight thousand dollars. And

(32:45):
if you give more than eight thousand dollars, I'm sure
they'll put it to use supporting that home that we're
gonna build, Home number We're gonna build home number six
because of you and because God provides right. So if
you can help Orphanshade dot com, click the donate button

(33:09):
drop down menu build a house in the comments House
number six. All right, I have promised some shopping help
this year. I love digging around Now next hour, JD.
Johnson will be joining me from the Talent Training group

(33:30):
and in our personal defense segment, we'll be talking about
a few things related to that. But we'll also be
willing because it's Christmas, because it's Christmas, to set aside
what I want to talk about and take calls from you.

(33:52):
I'm willing to do that. If you have a question
about a firearm, if you have a question about a
training issue that you might be having your shots are
all low into the right or high into the left
or whatever. Or you're thinking about buying a firearm for

(34:16):
a spouse, a son, a daughter, getting your child their
first gun and doing it right, We're gonna be here
for you. They have a question about ammunition, accessories, holsters,
we're gonna be here for you. But I thought it

(34:36):
would be fun to take a few minutes and if
you've got a firearm loving family member or friend, some suggestions,
some possibilities. Now, remember we never ever recommend you just
buy somebody a gun and say here you go, get
them a gift card. Make sure that they have tested

(35:04):
firearms and know exactly what they want. Do not just
buy the little lady a revolver. It's the worst possible
gun to give a woman. It just is. Most women
do not have adequate hand strength to properly pull, the
trigger pressure required, the amount of pull required to discharge

(35:29):
a revolver and keep it on target without also being
horrified because they are. They're painful guns to shoot, especially
if you get one that's got some stopping power. So
with that said, you know the the glocks, the SIGs,

(35:53):
the smith and Wesson's. I mean, there are all kinds
of great firearms out there, right, Holster, But again, don't
you pick out a holster for somebody highly personalized? A
lot of factors go into choosing a holster. Gift cards,

(36:16):
red dots very popular there are. There's a company called
Hollison which makes red dots and opticals that optics that
are that are not just battery operated but have backup
solar power. They have a little solar thing on the
top of them. Oh sweet, okay. Med bag A MED

(36:43):
bag is a really smart thing to have. I don't
have enough of one in my car. I'm gonna I
want to get a bigger one for my car. Knife.
There's some great knife companies out there that make really

(37:03):
good tactical self defense, purposeful and oh, by the way,
come in handy knives. There are lots of possibilities so
I'm just saying, just and we're gonna ask JD his
thoughts on this. Accessories that are useful are what would

(37:26):
be what would be more important once you get the
holster lined up. Flashlight Well, that depends on the circumstance,
I'm guessing, but a flashlight and a lot of people
don't like a light on their gun. A lot of
self defense experts will say, have one for your hand
so that you can work it around a corner without

(37:47):
showing your firearm. Because if you poke your firearm around
the corner to shine the light on the target or
what you're looking at, well, all of a sudden, someone
can grab your firearm because you've exposed it away from
your you've extended your reach, you put yourself in a
vulnerable spot. I'm just saying there are a lot of considerations here,
but a good small flashlight. It's disorienting too. If you

(38:11):
get one that you can pop a couple times and
it goes into a strobe. Put a strobe in somebody's face. Yeah,
eleven passed the hour. More shopping help next here on
the Morning Show with Preston Scott.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Thing Show with Preston Scott, I Got bad thought on
News Radio one seven Double USLA.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
All Right, I'm going through the thirteen days of shopping here,
and you have more days than that obviously till Christmas,
but those are the days we have left before we
turn it over to the twelve Days of Preston, which,
by the way, we're hard at work on Christmas Day

(39:14):
will be the month of June, and so we will
have limited content and a lot of Marvin. Marvin Goldstein
will be with me for our Christmas show on Christmas Day,
so you'll be able to tune in that morning and

(39:36):
join us. We'll throw in a couple of segments and
interview here and there, but by and large, each hour
is going to be just Marvin playing it's piano, keyboard
and the two of us just talking about Christmas, sharing stories.
We'll do The Man and the Birds, which of course

(39:56):
we will do on our final show on the seventeenth,
But we have thirteen days of shopping that we've marked up,
and this is day number three out of those thirteen days.
And I'm offering you some websites, some places to think about,
and I talked about Kevin's in day one and the
website Kevin'scatalog dot com. It's brilliant. Catalog is absolutely brilliant.

(40:23):
So much available on the cattle And by the way,
if you go to that website now you're gonna find
all kinds of incredible discounts, some up to seventy five
percent insane. Then, yesterday we talked about seventeen seventy six
United dot Com. A lot of people wrote me about that.

(40:44):
It's patriotic t shirts, accessories, hats, glassware, stuff with a
patriotic theme. Seventeen seventy six United dot Com. Today it's
called Little Obsessed dot Com. Now, if you're challenged, you
spell that l I No, sorry, you know how to

(41:06):
spell little obsessed? Is O b s ss ed obsessed,
Little obsessed dot com. It's all little things. That's why
it's a little obsessed. It's all little stuff, which makes
it a really good go to for some extra little

(41:27):
gifts or something for the stocking. Maybe I'm on the
website right now. They've got home decor, they've got kitchen,
they've got office books, mini toys, paper products, seasonal little
gift ideas, they've got a sale thing, they got basket fillers,
and it's just adorable little stuff. And it's all priced

(41:50):
I think remarkably well. And so if you're looking for
that again, I'm trying to take you to spots that
are a little bit off the beaten path. And I'm
a big fan of where did you get that? I
love those words, and I just smile. Well, you know,

(42:13):
I am k Kringle. I have my ways sixteen minutes.

Speaker 5 (42:17):
Past FLA at w FLA FBM dot com, on your
phone with the iHeartRadio app, and on hundreds of devices
like Alexa, Google Home, Xbox, and Sonos and Iheart's radio station.

Speaker 1 (42:50):
The effort to still malign and misrepresent Charlie kirk continues.
It is shameful people in churches walking around ignorant and
saying foolish things, holding foolish opinions and views. And I

(43:17):
want to share this and if you'll forgive me, please,
if you're put off by the manner of which I'm
going to approach this, I want to teach you again
how to look at a story. Oxford Debate Society leader
who celebrated Charlie Kirks shooting now apologizing to his family.

(43:40):
That's the headline, and if you read a little bit
into it, you're like, Okay, good, former president elect of
the Oxford Union, A George aberyone after it was reported
that Kirk got shot, posted on WhatsApp and Instagram, Charlie

(44:04):
Kirk got shot, let's effing go. He had engaged in
a debate with Charlie. He lost a no confidence vote
in October as a result of his comments that's refreshing, right,
So he got kicked out. No longer president of the

(44:24):
Oxford Union. He said, I had very little context for
what I was reacting to, but I wanted to start
a conversation. I missed the mark and that's why I
deleted and retracted my comments. He said. His comments were
made before the video of the shooting circulated. As soon
as I saw how serious it was, I went on
Instagram to apologize. I want to offer my apologies and

(44:49):
my condolences. No one deserves to lose a husband, no
child that deserves to grow up without a father. I
hope they are able in some capacity to move on
from what this tragic event, from what was a tragic event,
and to that end, I am very sorry. He said.
Kirk didn't exist in a vacuum. He had national influence.

(45:12):
He influenced policy decisions in America. He was someone who
almost had a direct line to the president. He wasn't
someone who could be ignored. Now listen, see this is
at the very back of the article. In his initial
comments reacting to Kirk's assassination were a quote without nuance

(45:33):
and with this is him stating this and without having
done research. I saw a headline and I reacted without
having done research. First of all, he should have known
better because he was at the debate, he debated him.

(45:54):
He knows. But this is a example of what has
happened with so many in this country. Are there are
a handful of people more than a handful. For example,
there are blacks who believe he's a racist and a bigot,

(46:19):
and nothing could be further from the truth. Nothing That
is a complete and total mischaracterization based on selecting something,
pulling it out of context. Where he's talking about DEI.

(46:39):
Where if you listen to that segment that has been
lifted and manipulated, and you listen to the entire dialogue
with the person who asked the question, who happened to
be black? That person walks away going, oh makes sense.

(47:01):
And and what's what's so interesting to me is a
lot of these arguments we've been making for years, But
I didn't have the platform. Charlie developed and he developed it.
God gave him favor, but he developed it. And and
what's interesting is how often have we made the argument

(47:23):
that if we really want deire, we need a bunch
of white guys in the NBA. But you see those
of us that that buy jerseys and and where you
know the sneakers of people that happen to be black
because we think they're incredible athletes and we support them

(47:43):
because they're great at what they do. We don't care
about race. Look around an NFL stadium. Take a look
at the number of white guys wearing jerseys that happen
to be black football players. Where's the racism? And we're
not the ones calling for we're all the white guys

(48:04):
on the football field. But if we're gonna be fair
about DEEI, there should be more. But we don't care
about that. But isn't it interesting how topics like that
just vanish because it points out how absurd it is

(48:26):
to base qualifications underneath skin color, to take merit and
shove it in the corner versus ethnic profile. So twofold
Number one, thank you for the apology. Good step on you,

(48:47):
well done, well done. Secondly, look deeper. There are opportunities
to see. Ah, he didn't do research, he just reacted.
What have I said about reacting? Twenty eight minutes past.
Merry Christmas? Merry Christmas, wish you a verry Christmas.

Speaker 2 (49:15):
It's Traffic, Weather, Sports, Entertainment and the Truth The Morning
Show with Preston Scott on News Radio one hundred point
seven WSLA.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
If you are driving for the holidays, this will not
make you feel a whole lot better. Nearly three thousand
training providers for CDLs have been removed from the federal registry,
meaning they are not certified by the federal government to

(50:06):
put people on the road. Nearly three thousand and another
forty five hundred have been put on notice. So total,
that's roughly seven thousand, five hundred out of sixteen thousand.

(50:27):
Nearly fifty percent of the programs that provide training for
CDLs either are not meeting and have been stripped of
their accreditation, or are put on notice because they are
close to not meeting standards. How does that make you

(50:48):
feel driving the roads? I would love truckers send me
an email what you think about this presdent atiheartradio dot com.
I would love to know what you because I know
I absolutely you know. We have professional truckers that listen
to this program as they drive across the country. They
stream it live on the iHeartRadio app. They know how

(51:08):
to listen and they find us at either WFLA FM
dot com or WFLA Panama City dot com, or they
look up the stations on iHeartRadio one hundred point seven
WFLA here in Tallahassee ninety six three or one O
two five FM in Panama City, Panama City Beach. That

(51:35):
potentially means that depending on what the load is, like,
how many of those courses that are not up to
standards are teaching more than say a course that does
meet standards. Are they low priced? Are they budget friendly

(51:58):
and they cut corners? Does that make our road safe?
And think of the loads they're carrying. And this is
all uncovered because of the illegals that are being given
licenses in California and Washington and Oregon. It's unbelievable speaking
of illegals. According to a story from town Hall, democrats

(52:28):
told us the illegals weren't getting Social Security numbers apparently
those started to point this out. No, they were getting
social Security numbers that there are some four million illegals
in this country with social Security numbers, which means they're
getting access to all kinds of funding, they're getting access
to all kinds of privileges, they're getting access to voting.

(52:53):
That's why Democrats fight this because there's so many people
leaving the Democrat Party. We've got a listener identifies himself
as a classic liberal who listens to the program routinely.
Why are you still a member of the party. I've

(53:16):
said for years, you can't be a Christian and be
a Democrat. You can't be to be a member of
the Democrat Party. You are compromising your Christian faith, and
I will prove it to you in thirty seconds. You
can't reconcile those two memberships. You can't if you're a Christian.

(53:39):
You can't be a Democrat because the platform supports things
that are completely one hundred percent opposed by God. Notice
what I'm not saying, be a republic. It's there for you.

(54:03):
It's a safer place to be if you're a Christian
because there's nothing in the platform that's anti God. But
I'm not saying to be a Republican. I'm just saying,
don't be that, don't be a Democrat, don't can't, can't
reconcile that. And I know it's uncomfortable for you. It's okay.
You've gotten used to walking around in the dark. That's

(54:26):
what happens. Flip off the light switch, give it a
few minutes. You can manage. You have stopped illuminating your
life with the truth of God's word, and you've walked
around in darkness, and now you're used to it, and
so you accept things that are just wrong. And a
house to put it. Forty one minutes past the hour.

Speaker 2 (54:52):
Started counting shows at the beginning because we weren't sure
how long he'd last. Now we're just proving to everyone
one that wee can count. This is the Morning Show
with Preston Scott.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
Jade Johnson joins us next hour from the talent training group.
Might even take some calls. I'll tell you more about
that in a few minutes, but let's go ahead and
kind of do our Orphan shade push for the morning.
We've mentioned it and want to mention it again. We

(55:52):
are likely about eight thousand, maybe a little less from
our goal of fifty five thousand dollars, which means WOR
at about forty seven thousand or so, and that's incredible.
We have until the seventeenth of December to get it done.
I would love to get it done this week and

(56:15):
then just rejoice, Just rejoice about it and look forward
to it. You might be saying, looking forward to what
building the house? Helping eight more little girls. You know,

(56:36):
my wife and I talked about this yesterday, and I
think the most important way to view this work is
to just consider what Jesus said about helping those who
are the least of these. I've scratched my head trying

(57:01):
to figure out as a group what words better describe
orphaned girls in a third world country, in a village
where their mother and their father have both died and

(57:24):
their family is unable or unwilling to care for them,
and they either have to fend for themselves at the
age of three, four, five, six, seven, ten, or be
trafficked or be abused. And so you can step back

(57:49):
and say eight kids, really well, home number four is
going up this month, that's thirty two. Number five goes
up first half of the year. Hopefully that's forty we

(58:10):
played a role and built home number three. This would
be home number six. That's forty eight, forty eight little
girls that are growing older with the love of parents
that are volunteering to be their parents until until they

(58:33):
grow on and become self sufficient and on their own,
going to secondary school or going to a career, establishing
a business, changing an entire family tree by virtue of
an education, clothing shelter that's stable and end, built to last,

(59:02):
and yes, knowing Jesus. If you can help, go to
Orphanshade dot com. You can look at the website learn
the whole story. If you can donate, we would love it.
We are again about seven eight thousand dollars away. In

(59:26):
the donate button you'll see a driver. You'll get to
a drop down menu, build a house, House number six.

Speaker 2 (59:37):
Being told what to believe by the liberal media. Get
a refreshing dose of truth. It's the Morning Show with
Trustin Scott on NewsRadio one hundred point seven WFLA.

Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
The God It was my turn. I read card myself.
It's time for another edition of No Way. Jose here
on the Morning Show with Preston Scott. You're up well,
Merry Christmas. Everybody, How do you say that in your language?

Speaker 6 (01:00:25):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
I think it's a felice or something like that. Well, well,
preston you. You reminded me of a fun story from.

Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
When I was just a boy.

Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
It was the CDL, a non compliant story, And what
had happened was before I got to driving, I had
to get my license, right, So I asked everybody in
my family if I could borrow their car for the
test at the DMV.

Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
And they said, no way, Jose, absolutely not. Oh so
you've heard those words before.

Speaker 4 (01:01:00):
Yeah, so a friend of mine's mother, she let me
borrow her car with the stipulation of putting gas in
it when I was done. Yeah, and uh so, fast
forward to the driver test. The young lady administering the
test to me, grab the whoopsie handle that's right above
your door multiple times.

Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
A whoopsie handle. I've never heard that in my life.

Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
Yeah, well it has other names that ain't meant for radio.
So okay, but uh so she grabbed it a couple
of times and was like, please don't kill me, Please
just start a praying, literally start praying. I did a
instead of a three point turn, I did like a
seven point turn.

Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
I messed the thing completely up. But I must have
charmed her socks off because she gave me my license.

Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
Anyways, Yeah, I know, right, Ah yeah, I was surprised
as well. I was like, well, for sure, I'm gonna
have to do this over again.

Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
Oh no way, Jose. So okay, now hang on, would
you consider yourself a good driver?

Speaker 6 (01:02:00):
Now?

Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Now I am? Now I am.

Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
I'm a very safe driver.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
I'm either I'm either doing speed limit or five above
nothing else. So anywhot I got into a car accident
that same day, as a matter of fact, leaving the
gas station.

Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
From filling her car up with gas. Oh you did not,
I did? Yeah I did. So you had to bring
your mother's friend's car back with after it had been
in a wreck. Yeah. Yeah, it wasn't like too bad.
It was a fender bender. I was. I was turning
off of a stop sign. Now the guy behind me
absolutely don't tell.

Speaker 4 (01:02:39):
Nobody everyone, only y'all.

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
What else you got? Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
Well, I have a NASA discovered some lightning in Mars
or on Mars. No, yeah, so if you've ever wondered, no,
have you ever wondered if there's lightning on Mars? There is,
but it's called mini lightning, so it's not that big.
It's like a dust bunny spark or something.

Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
Is that anything to do with Doctor Evil and Minie
Me being on the planet or something more than likely?
No lightning? See just a mini one, little ones.

Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
If you ever wondered.

Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
Another edition of Noah, Hey, Jose, I can't believe that
happened to you. Gotten a wreck the day barrows something?
Oh my gosh. All right, if you want to ask
a question of J. D. Johnson of the Talent Training
Group again, I'm willing to surrender some time, but you
need to call eight five zero two zero five WFLA

(01:03:41):
eight five zero two zero five ninety three fifty two
Personal Defense. Next on the Morning Show, more fun than

(01:04:03):
a human being should be allowed to have. It's the
Morning Show with Me and him and this guy joining
us from the Talent Training Group. He is JD. Johnson,
co founder of All Things Talent and co host of
Talent Outdoors. How you doing, friend, I'm doing great. I
was just telling you, you know, Thanksgiving, loved it, great

(01:04:23):
key around the kids, and they gave me a gift.
Someone gave me a gift and I've been fighting it
ever since. But at any rate, and as I said,
I'm willing friends, because it's Christmas, to surrender some time,
to take some questions if you want to. We've got
an email question already and you're gonna roll your eyes
a second, he hear it, I know you will. But if

(01:04:45):
you want to send me a question or call in,
ask a question, Ask a question about shopping for the
gun lover in your family or for yourself. I mean,
it's okay, it's okay to spend a buck or two
on yourself. It's eight five zero two zero five to
be a film. But I'm not going to beat it
around because i have a list of things that I
want to talk about. Uh, here's a question from David.

(01:05:06):
If you are using a burner, go ahead, oh boy,
go ahead with pepper gas or rubber pellets. Is there
any chance of getting charged for assault or anything else?

Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
Absolutely?

Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
Yeah, depends on when you're using.

Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
It depends on the circumstances. You better have. You better
have a use of force scenario. You know, it's no
different than hitting somebody with us. So you have a cane,
a walking cane, and you you're the aggressor in the situation,
hit somebody with a cane, or you slap somebody, you know,
you get mad and throw a drink in somebody's face.

(01:05:44):
That's that's a battery, you know, it is what it is.

Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
I'm curious though, because it does raise an interesting set
of questions in that does given that that burners are
legal to carry for people eighteen and older, you can
openly carry those, and you can carry them wherever you
want to. Basically, for the most part, you can does
the same standard of discharging one of those a launcher?

(01:06:10):
Is it the same as you know, fear of death
and great bodily harm?

Speaker 3 (01:06:14):
No, it's not, because it's not a lethal It's not
a lethal device.

Speaker 1 (01:06:19):
So would it be considered no different than punching back
correct or or punching first if the situation warrants it.

Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
So you're you're allowed to meet force with an equal
amount of force. So someone's charging you, right so that
you can you can punch that person, or you can
kick that person. You know you can. There's you can
defend yourself with it. Yeah, but it's not the same
standard as a firearm, because a firearm shooting at someone,

(01:06:48):
whether you hit them or not, is the use of
deadly force. Okay, because the firearm, if if appropriately applied,
will cause death or great bodily harm. Yeah, So the burner,
any kind of launcher, any pepper ball launcher, is not
likely to cause death or great bodily harm.

Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
The instigator and use that.

Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
Don't don't point it at somebody because you're having an
argument and you're mad at them. You know, we see
people cross that line all the time that that you know,
they're the ones out of control because they don't they
get into a or kerfuffle with somebody at the store
or something. Yeah, I disagree about something. Yeah, you know
that's in maintaining your civility in those situations is important.

Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
Would it be fair to also say, before we go
to a phone callar here, that the way that some
of those devices are designed, they look like a legitimate
firearm too many. Yeah, and so if you drew one
for no reason other than you're mad at somebody, that
person could perhaps have an argument if they pulled a

(01:08:01):
legitimate firearm, yeah, and discharged a round. Sure.

Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
So somebody's carrying a real gun and you point your
burner at him because you've had an argument, you're mad,
and you're you're going to win the argument by.

Speaker 1 (01:08:13):
Hitting them with pepper spray.

Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
Hitting them with pepper spray, well, I could make the
argument that, okay, little pepper spray is going to disable me.
You know, they advertise that they can incapacitate somebody for
forty minutes, which is probably not true, but they make
that argument. Well, if I'm incapacitated in some fashion or
other and I'm armed, what's stopping you from coming and

(01:08:35):
taking my gun away from me and using it on me?
So same, you know, same concept. That's why it's lethal force.
If a police officer carrying a taser and somebody tries
to take the taser away from the officer, the officer
can then transition to a firearm and say he was
fixing to incapacitate me with my taser. Therefore I shot him.
He was trying to take my weapon.

Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
So the answer is, Stu, We're going to get to
your call right after the break, David. The answer to
you is be careful. No, the law know the law?
Yeah is don't be the instigator. Yeah, don't be the bully.
All right, we got more to come, more questions. If
you have one eight five zero two zero five to
b FLA. We're gonna go to the phone lines. Next.
You're in the Morning Show with Preston Scott.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Thought or story you want to share, write them at
Preston at iHeartRadio dot com. Yes, he knows how to
read well. Actually, as producer reads him, he doesn't know
how to read. It's the Morning Show with Preston Scott.

Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
And we're back. JD Johnson with me from the Talent
training group talent range dot com and Stu is on
the phone line. Stu, good morning, Thank you. What's your question, JD?

Speaker 6 (01:09:57):
About two years ago I evaded an your home invasion.
Up until that point, I was an AR fifteen guy
for a home defense. After that I reconsidered because of
over penetration. My neighbors are relatives of mine next door.
I wouldn't want anything to happen to them if I
had to use a fire un I'm now using a
twelve gauge AM a pump action with a flashlight. Am

(01:10:20):
I at any disadvantage compared to an AR fifteen in
the home defense scenario?

Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
A twelve gage pump with a flashlight is exactly what
sleeps under my bed. That Can I answer your question? No,
you're not in my opinion, inside the home, in close
close quarters, there is no replacement for a twelve gage
or twenty gage shotgun with buck shot.

Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
What about what about a car being nine millimeter? Okay, I'm.

Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
A fine, and over penetration is really not an issue
with the right AMO. Okay, with ball AMMO that you
take and take to the range and shoot at targets with,
it's not a great that's not good because it pokes
a little hole and keeps on going and doesn't do
with a with an AR. You know, if you're using
soft point, soft point expanding type AMMO, over penetration is

(01:11:15):
really not that big of an issue as much as
people think it is. Nine milimeter car beans are great.
There's still no replacement for a twelve gage shotgun. It
it does more, it's more effective than either of those.
Ballistically speaking, STU.

Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
You got any follow up for that?

Speaker 3 (01:11:34):
No, that's perfect, James, Yeah, Christmas, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Uh, the big merry Christmas. You have filthy animal.

Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
The uh you know, the big the big difference. You
know you have to look at like this. When you
fire a twelve gage double at buck, you're launching eight
or nine thirty three caliber pellets. So that's basically nine
millimeter type projectiles, nine millimeter diameter projectiles. You're launching nine

(01:12:02):
of them at one time, So that's like pulling the
trigger on a nine millimeter nine times.

Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
What kind of spread does that have at say, eight
or nine feet versus twenty feet.

Speaker 3 (01:12:14):
A big difference. I mean close range, you have to
aim a shotgun. At close range, your your pattern is
its cause not going to be a whole lot bigger
than the diameter of the barrel. So at close range
it's you know, twelve twelve point whatever millimeter, twelve point
sixty seven or whatever, twelve gauge sixty seven caliber. Basically

(01:12:37):
the further it gets out at fifteen yards, so that's
what forty five feet. Most houses don't have much further
than a forty five foot shot anywhere in the house.
It's a direct line. Yeah, your pattern's going to be fifteen, sixteen,
eighteen inches somewhere in there, depending on the gun and
the load. So it's given you a bigger, you know,

(01:12:59):
bigger think of a think of a five gallon bucket
diameter at fifteen yards, that's you probably could put all
of them in. All those pellets are going to land
in a five gallon bucket at fifteen yards.

Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
You mentioned twelve gauge. That's what he mentioned as well,
but you also mentioned twenty. What about four to ten?

Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
Four ten is a different animal. You're launching three triple
buck most four to ten buckshot just as effective. Let's recoil.
I'm just not a giant fan of four to ten
because the velocity is reduced below you're getting down velocity wise,
even short distances. Yeah, even short distances.

Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
What about the pump action, as you mentioned versus there
are some models out there that are semi automatic.

Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
Sem automatics can be problematic unless you find a load
that will reliably work with your semi automatic. There a
lot of them are dependent on the power of the
shell to operate properly. Yeah, pumps don't care pump shot guns.
You're manually working the action of the gun, so it
doesn't matter what load you put in it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
Do you recommend for personal defense, let's stay on the
twelve gage pump. Do you recommend alternating or using different
loads or the same load?

Speaker 3 (01:14:18):
All depends on your scenario inside the house. Buckshot you
know large like number four, number four bird shot, Maybe
that's about as small of a bird shot, as I
would go with its like a number four. There's also
number four buck shot, which gives you fifty fifty pellets roughly.

Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
But what would you recommend a double?

Speaker 6 (01:14:42):
All?

Speaker 3 (01:14:43):
Okay, there's some eight pellet reduced recoil tactical buckshot that
Federal and Spear and a couple other companies make uses
reduced power load, one less shot than standard and it
doesn't kick bad and it's very effective.

Speaker 1 (01:15:01):
All right, More to come with JD. Johnson. Do you
have a question eight five zero two zero five to
b fla or email me Preston at iHeartRadio dot.

Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
Com on your phone with the iHeartRadio app and on
hundreds of devices like Alexa, Google Home, Xbox and Sonos
and Ihearts.

Speaker 1 (01:15:21):
Radio season and we are back with JD. Johnson, co
founder of the Talent Training Group and Talent Outdoors, where
he and Charlie and a cast of characters is putting

(01:15:41):
it very politely. Did you ever think it would grow
like that?

Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
No? No, I missed. I missed this last Saturday show.
I got a last minute something I had to go
do and couldn't be there for the shows. First one
I've missed in the history of the show that I
wasn't there.

Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
How about that?

Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
Yeah, and everybody's amen, like, well, you always didn't listen
to all the shows, so you didn't know. It wasn't
something bad. I had to go get my new truck.

Speaker 1 (01:16:07):
Okay, it wasn't like you were you were on time
out or anything. All right, we got a caller here
standing by, and we've got an email question to get to.
Will you're up, what's your question?

Speaker 8 (01:16:17):
Good morning, j D President, Thanks for taking a call morning.
I wanted to go back to the topic of the
burner the launcher. I do have a legal question. I
have some unfortunate past decisions which makes me a convicted fellon.
And I hear the advertisement stating that guy should be carryous.

(01:16:37):
But how does that stand for convicted selling and their
abilities potentially protecting theirselves and their family with it. There's
some kind of rmals that or but to be considered weapon.

Speaker 1 (01:16:46):
Thanks Felling.

Speaker 3 (01:16:48):
I would if I were you, I would get AH,
I have stayed a holiday in express, but I'm not
a lawyer. I would get a legal opinion.

Speaker 1 (01:16:57):
UH.

Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
You can ask the uh the state attorneys or the
ask the State Attorney's office asked the Attorney General the
State of Florida, ge get an opinion on it. It's
my understanding that you are fine carrying it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:10):
I believe so too.

Speaker 3 (01:17:13):
So Yeah, in your case, that would be a viable,
somewhat viable option. Since you can't have a gun, that
would be a that would be a viable option for you.
Thank you very much, Lean, You're welcome.

Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
I appreciate it. Well, let's see here, we've got an
email question that came in here. Roger is writing in
back to the twelve gauge question for home defense. What
barrel length?

Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Well, the maximum legal without a tax stamp is eighteen inches.
Eighteen twenty inches is fine? Eighteen or twenty inch most
of your your benefits, that's the yeah, And that's what
I would recommend. It's easier to move around with it. It's
not you know, a thirty inch long duck hunting shotgun
that you know you can you can move around with

(01:17:59):
an eighteen in your twenty inch barrel gun.

Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
And we've talked about that a lot. That if you're
if you're in your home and you're worried that somebody
is in your home, being very very careful about how
you clear your house with a long gun.

Speaker 3 (01:18:14):
Absolutely, because if you if the gun enters the room
before you do and you haven't cleared the corners of
the threshold on either side of the door, Uh, there
may be a there may be a violent discussion over
ownership of the firearm at that point. You don't want
to stick the gun out past your cover, is what
I'm saying, where somebody can grab it and control the
business end of it.

Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
We were talking earlier in the program in advance of
our segment here JD and we talked about, you know,
flashlights and gun mounted lights versus having one in your hand.
And obviously you know with a with a handgun, it
would make sense to have a flashlight in your hand,
perhaps to go around a corner and the look without

(01:18:54):
putting your your firearm out there. What about a shotgun, Well,
how do you handle lighting up an area?

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
I love a weapon mounted light on a shotgun because
it takes two hands to operate. It takes two hands
to operate the gun properly. With a handgun, it doesn't
take two hands to operate the gun properly. So and
I'm not opposed to weapon mounted lights on a firearm
as long as I have a tactical small flashlight, and

(01:19:21):
I can shoot with a flashlight in one hand and
a handgun and the other.

Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
The absolute weeks for doing that.

Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
There's there's several different techniques for doing that, and they
all work. But with a shotgun or a rifle for
self defense purposes, a weapon mounted light is absolutely a
necessity in my opinion.

Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
All Right, when we come back, we're gonna I'm gonna
take over the time. Thanks for your calls and your questions,
appreciate it, but I am now going to be the
I Tola of the program and take all of the
time that we have left. JAD Johnson is with me,
and we're gonna talk kind of sort of shopping Christmas
related Next here in the Morning Show with Preston Scott.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
Same Show with Preston Scott. The greatest trick the Devil
ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. On
news Radio one hundred point seven double UFLA.

Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
Thirty five minutes past the hour, look at us on time.
I can't even think of the last time I hit
this part of the show on time. All right, so
I'm not going to screw it up by talking JD.
Johnson with me of the talent training group. Again, you
talk about a gift that keeps on giving. Get some training, people,
give someone a gift card for some training, and get

(01:20:42):
out there and learn to be better and safer and
able to protect yourself and your loved ones. On that subject.
While we're talking gift giving, which is kind of fun
and maybe a little bit lighthearted, the fact of the
matter is, as we talked in the break, there are
more and more targeted shootings happening at private Christian schools unfortunately. Yes,

(01:21:05):
and so my question to you, and I wrote down
on my list here of things to ask you Kevlar
for kids question mark.

Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
Yeah, there's some companies that make panels for backpacks that
you can It's a ballistic panel that you can drop
into a into a backpack. They're shaped like a backpack
like most backpacks, and you could basically drop a soft
soft armor panel into a backpack. And you know, over

(01:21:34):
the summer, I went to New York City with my
family and I grabbed a backpack out of the shop,
dropped a panel in there. So at least I would
have some defense, you know, some some kind of a
defensive shield, if you will, that I could hold up
on the and if something was to happen with my
family there.

Speaker 1 (01:21:52):
What panel? What one panel? What will it stop?

Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
The panels that the soft panels, the ones that are
flexible and soft and that don't weigh a lot. Uh,
they'll stop handgun rounds. I would say that if you
I haven't tested this, it's you know, and I don't
know if you've seen the kids, but by the time
kids get to middle school, they're carrying around these huge backpacks,
they'll books. A panel with several books in there probably

(01:22:21):
would stop a five, five six round, two twenty three
round out of an at.

Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
Least gives your child a chance.

Speaker 3 (01:22:28):
Yeah, it's going to slow it down tremendously. You know,
ballistic armor, soft body armor, kevlar, that kind of stuff
not designed to stop rifle rounds. You have to have
something hard, either ceramic or steel to stop a rifle round.
There's very or soft body armour would be so thick
that it would be unwilled.

Speaker 1 (01:22:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:22:51):
As far as wearable stuff for kids, I'm sure somebody
probably makes it out there. I don't recommend. It's uncomfortable.
You don't want you don't want the kid to go
to school every day. Wearing body armor. But those panels
are are fairly light and fairly resilient as far as
stopping handgun.

Speaker 1 (01:23:07):
Right, and it would be something.

Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
Yeah, it's better than better than like I say all
the time, it's better than a sharp stick. Yeah, you know,
but yeah, it would it would do something. And then
you combine that with some thick history books or something
like that, any any object you know. There in the
gun world, there used to be a people would test
AMMO by taking the big giant phone books. I know,
younger folks don't know what a phone book is, but

(01:23:30):
you and I grew up. If you grew up in
a big area, your phone book was several inches thick,
Yes it was, and say a lot as a representative
of ballistic performance from handguns. People would take phone books,
soak them in water, get them wet, and then stack
them up and see how many phone books your cartridge
would go through or your bullet would go through as

(01:23:51):
a as a and enough phone books will stop a bullet.
There's a guy on the I saw a guy on
Instagram the other day shooting Plato, a big giant blow
of a Plato, and it, you know, stopped the fifty BMG,
a huge cartridge machine gun, you know, big fifty caliber
machine gun with plato. Now it took about thirty inches

(01:24:15):
of plato sure to stop it, but it stopped it.
You know, bullets are not bullets don't like hard objects.
Soft objects slow them down really fast, so you know,
at least you're minimizing the damage if it was to
go all the way through.

Speaker 1 (01:24:34):
When we come back, we're going to get through the
rest of some shopping list ideas for the person that
is a gun lever has their own gun, we're gonna
give you a little admonition on that. Don't buy a
gun for somebody it's got a story to tell. Next
on the Morning Show with Preston.

Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
Scott Show with Preston Scott.

Speaker 1 (01:24:56):
Can you fly this plane and land it? Surely you
can't be serious? Serious and don't call me Shirlely.

Speaker 2 (01:25:02):
On News Radio one seven Double ufla.

Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
Final segment with J. D. Johnson of the Talent Training Group.
And now we're kind of circling into gifts suggestions and
again not to freak anybody out, but there's a reality
and a kevlar panel can slip into a backpack and
it could make a difference. That's that's the whole point
of this show, trying to find ways to make a difference. Now,
one way we can make a difference is advise mostly
guys out there, don't buy your wife a gun without

(01:25:36):
some thought going into this.

Speaker 3 (01:25:39):
Yeah, or just don't buy your wife a gun at all.
Let her pick it out, by your wife a gift certificate.

Speaker 1 (01:25:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:25:44):
I have this discussion across the counter at the gun
store on the regular, just about weekly. Two days ago,
guy comes in, My wife wants a gun. I want
to buy my wife a gun. What about that one?
What about this one?

Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
I like the lady a gun?

Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
Stop? Yeah, just stop, and he kind of looking Yeah,
I'm I'm in the business of selling guns. It's not
that I don't want to sell you a gun. Let
your wife choose it. Take her to the range, rent
some of the guns we have down there, try them out,
Let her make the decision. It is a very and
I've always used this analogy. I wouldn't You don't pick

(01:26:20):
your wife's shoes or pursose. You know, if you do,
you might get lucky, or it might sit in the
closet and collect dust because she doesn't like it. And
doesn't have the doesn't want to tell you that hurt
your feelings that.

Speaker 1 (01:26:31):
You just notice after five years she's never put them on.

Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
Yeah, so don't don't try to choose that, Just let
her choose and facilitate it.

Speaker 1 (01:26:41):
Equally personal, if not even more personal. Is Holster same
thing right? Gift card yep? Absolutely get people a gift
card for that. What about the things that someone might
want to consider giving as a gift, a red dot
or a shot timer or kit, or a light or whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:27:02):
All of those things, it's all part of owning a gun,
being able to take care of it and clean it,
maintain it, which is not hard to do. We show people,
We sit there at the counter just about every day
and show people how to take care of their firearm.
We don't charge for that. We just do it because
you need to know. Lights, lasers, night sights, all of

(01:27:25):
those things are make good gifts, you know, and they're
something that most people are gonna want.

Speaker 1 (01:27:32):
What about the targets that are out there? There are
paper targets obviously at the range, you have steel targets
available that people can can shoot at the bays that
are set up for that. But I'm hearing about targets
that are like they're made of this composite rubbery material
that the bullet goes through it and disappears.

Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
Most of those we don't allow because most of them
sit on the ground. And you take us this funny
looking ball and you throw it out there on the
ground and shoot it. We don't want you shooting the ground. Yeah,
there's too much of a potential of that bullet hitting
the ground and skipping and missing the big pile of
dirt that you're shooting. We want all the bullets fired
on the range to hit into that big pile of dirt.

Speaker 1 (01:28:12):
What about people that have their own area, their own land,
They've got a big plot of land, They've got their
own little shooting area back there. What are the types
of targets that are becoming Are there any that are
becoming more popular than others?

Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
Not that I know of Those composite targets will take
a lot of rounds before they before they're unusable. I've
seen some of the some of the new composits there.

Speaker 1 (01:28:32):
But you know where you're hitting.

Speaker 3 (01:28:34):
H If you go out there and examine it, sometimes
you'll see a little tiny you know, it makes a
little small dot on there. Yeah, I mean you can.
There's some viable alternatives. Steel is still a very viable alternative.
You just need to buy it, don't try to do
it yourself. You want the steel. Our steel targets are
angled a certain way so that it deflects the broken

(01:28:57):
apart bullet down into the ground.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
You can.

Speaker 3 (01:29:01):
If you angle them the wrong way, then you're creating
a launching ramp and you don't know where that bullet's
gonna end up, and that's dangerous.

Speaker 1 (01:29:07):
Yeah, all right, Is there anything coming out this season
that you think is interesting.

Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
In the gun world? Yep, not really there. You know,
there's there's really I haven't seen there. There's some newer
guns on the market. Smith and Wesson's made a couple
of really you know, new guns in the in the
recent past. The new Bodyguard three eighty is a very
small little gun that holds twelve rounds of three eighty.
That's a very compact, nice little carry gun. We sell

(01:29:34):
a lot of those. They've redesigned the shield it's called
a shield X. Now that's a slimmer grip. You know,
there's there's some big stuff coming from Glock, but it
probably won't happen until the first quarter of next year.

Speaker 1 (01:29:51):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
The big the big thing right now is the pressers. Uh,
it's it's a because the two hundred dollars tax stamp,
the federal tax stamp, the registration stamp, whatever you want
to call it. The two hundred dollars is going away
January one. So we are currently selling a lot of
suppressors right now and holding them for folks that don't

(01:30:12):
want to pay the tax stamp. So we're holding on
to them until January gets here to submit the paperwork.
Because you right now, if you submit the paperwork is
two hundred bucks January second, because the first is the
holiday January second, the submission doesn't cost you the two
hundred dollars anymore. The process has stayed the same, and
there's something to pay attention to Tomorrow Thursday. There is

(01:30:35):
several big important Second Amendment gun things coming up from
the Supreme Court. It's going to be making some decisions
on some big gun stuff. The magazine capacity states that
have magazine capacity bans and semi auto weapon bands and
stuff like that. That stuff's finally made it hopefully we'll
be on their dock it in the very near future

(01:30:57):
to make a final decision on Tomorrow's when they go
and examine it and see if they want to look
at the case.

Speaker 1 (01:31:01):
What's your confidence level if they take the case that
they'll rule properly.

Speaker 3 (01:31:06):
I think Clarence Thomas is gonna probably do there is
probably gonna make the docket, and they're probably gonna rule
in the favor of gun ownership and against the states.
They've already ruled against California on the ten round magazine band.
Send it back to the lower court. They vacated it,
sent it back.

Speaker 1 (01:31:23):
Do you think there's enough support in the whole court
for that. I think they only need five Yeah, that's
what I'm saying. Yeah. Justice Roberts isn't reliable to me.

Speaker 3 (01:31:31):
He's not, but he I think he's I don't see
how they can rule against it. Just put it that
way and not in it to be a constitutional decision.

Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
We'll see hopefully it's sixty three.

Speaker 3 (01:31:43):
Well, yeah, the uh so, the court the California law
basically holds that the magazines for firearms are not protected
under the Second Amendment, as if they're not a part
of the firearm. Well, it is a integral part of
the fire and the doesn't work without it. Uh So

(01:32:04):
I can't see logically how they would say, uh, you know,
anything other than yeah, you're wrong. California they were they
Alred told California they're wrong once and California kind of
them and here we are again. So hopefully they'll hold
their feet to the fire and let's just be reasonable
about things. You know, if somebody's gonna do something bad

(01:32:25):
with the gun, they're gonna do something bad with the gun.
That's just they're gonna find a way to get it.
They're gonna do something bad.

Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
Thanks for coming in my pleasure. Merry Christmas, Ry Christmas,
Happy New Year. We'll see you.
