Speaker 1 (00:00):
Whoa, what's up wrestling fans? Jason Bryant here with you,
Hall of Fame wrestling writer, broadcaster, an announcer, and I'll
be announcing this weekend at the twenty twenty five ANAIA

(00:22):
Men's Wrestling National Championships. So while I had some time
to prep for that, I figured i'd go sit down,
I'd look at the brackets, and I'd show you who
I'm looking at and some things to look for as
we get ready for the event, which is coming up
May sixth, May March six seventh, and eighth in Park City, Kansas,
which is just north of Wichita. They've hosted the nai

(00:44):
Championships the last number of years, they've hosted the NAIA
women Coming up.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
They've hosted the Division two Championships.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
So the visit Wichita crew always does a fantastic job
in putting on this event. So if you were watching
this earlier and there's no history or no record of it,
that's because I didn't like what it was going on
with it. So I said, you know what, I'm just
going to start over. I'm going to do this completely clean,
started over, start afresh. Get maybe some of the some

(01:11):
did it get a little background music to it, some
little edgy stuff, but little note about the NAIs. This
will be the sixty eighth year of the event. It
started back in nineteen fifty eight. Got a lot of history,
a lot of details, So if you want to know
more about that, I'll be dropping some stuff on the
matt Talk Online substack. So Mattalk online dot substack dot com.

(01:33):
That is the daily Wrestling newsletter. You get the Daily
Wrestling News. Premium subscribers will also get some bonus stuff.
I put out stats stuff throughout the year, mainly on
Division one, but also did some deep dives into the
CKLV the Southern Scuffle, which of course are Division one tournaments.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
But the general.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Point is is there's a lot of stats and stuff
that I've dug through and compiled over the years that
I've fashioned into whether they be lists, whether they be articles,
whether they be answering questions from you. So I threw
that stuff out there, and you know, I'm gonna have
a little fun with it. So while we have some fun,
I'm gonna jet over to the new screen here. We're
gonna jump up and take a look at the brackets.

(02:10):
At one hundred and twenty five pounds is where we'll start.
I'm gonna take a little sip of the R and
E today, not a whole lot of production value on
the screen, but.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
The Arnold Palmer half and a half. We're good to go.
This is a good stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, that's bad radio right there too. So what we've
got to do is we're gonna pull up the names
to watch. So names to watch here at one hundred
and twenty five pounds. They're highlighted up on your screen,
so if you're just listening, I'll mention who they are.
The top seeds are eight and Reeves of grand View,
Trevor Marshman of Cornerstone, number three seed Gabe Gonzalez of

(02:49):
grand View, the number four seed Landon Smith of mbrew
Riddle again. The all the brackets are at track Wrestling
dot com or naia dot org. Wait, if you're unfamiliar
with the nai and you heard me just say grand
View twice.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yeah, the NAIA.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
At the conference level, you can enter twelve per weight class,
no more than two, so you can have multiple entries.
It'll wait, Grandview will have two. Here, they'll have the
one and the three. It is not I mean want,
I don't want to say it's uncommon, it is. It
has happened where teammates have met in the finals. I
don't want to say it's common because as we've grown
through the NAIA, you know, twenty five years ago in

(03:27):
turn of the century, it sounds so ancient. Back in
two thousand and two thousand and one, there were only
about seventeen schools in the NAI that had wrestling. We're
up over seventy now. It's one of the fastest growing.
For a while, it was the fastest growing division in wrestling,
and then the women went ahead and just started adding
hundreds of program So the women are up one hundred
and something on the NCAA side, the NAI has forty

(03:51):
fifty something like that.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
We've got twenty something more in the junior colleges.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
But the women's growth, a lot of these NAI schools
have added men's and women's programs at the same time.
That being said, the ANAI has definitely been unique. Zach Biever,
Let's leg Zach, what's up man best time of the
year is correct? So this is the second weekend as
we get to it. Last week I announced the regional
Championships Region seven Division III at the at the one

(04:19):
of my employees. I guess you would say Augsburg University,
and then I GOTNIS this weekend. Then I go to
Providence for D threes, then I go to D one,
then I have a vacation, then I come back and
go to Brought to Slava for Europeans. But here's where
we sit at one hundred and twenty five pounds. Aiden
Reeves is a returning All American. He's an Iowa State transfer,
finished third last year in the ANAIA. The number two

(04:39):
seed Trevor Marsman from Cornerstone. That is a relatively new program.
Matter of fact, almost every single one of these teams
I'm gonna mention is a relatively new program. There are
some legacy programs Missouri Valley for example, Montana State, Northern
Southern Oregon. These are schools that have been around well
prior to two thousand, which is kind of where I

(05:00):
drew the line in the sand to start counting new programs.
Of course, in Division one, you know, Sacred Heart started
anywhere between ninety seven or ninety nine.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
I think it was a ninety nine.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
But as we talk about Trevor Marrisman from Cornerstone that
is in Michigan, he's a two time All American, was
third and fifth. Is the only All American in their
school's history, but he's done it a couple of times.
Down at the bottom, number seven seed, Alan Calderon has
a chance to meet Marsman early in the quarterfinals. He's
a returning All American Georgia native, finished sixth the year ago.
He's the seventh seed Brody Gee of Saint Mary, which

(05:33):
is in Kansas. He's an Oklahoma native. Coach by Chuck Kearney,
the head coach of the Spires, who was the longtime
coach at the University of Oregon. Gee was seventh last year.
And then Clarence Lee Green Adam Virginia Beach seven five seven,
two up, two down. Actually a Princess Anne Cavalier, which
is the alma mater of my brother in law. So

(05:53):
new a little hand shout out cav fan, the one,
the only he was an NAIA excuse me, he was
an NJCAA All American, a place winner at Nayaks hence
the NAIA NIAC sed North Iowa Area Community College back
in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
He is the sixteen seed.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
So on the screen, we've got all this stuff up
there highlighted for you.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
So the NAI and.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Track Wrestling is not going to have that highlighted for you,
but I'll have it highlighted here and it will also
I'll link these particular brackets in the show notes at
matt Talk online dot com. Moving to one hundred and
thirty three pounds, we'll take a look and Doninic Chavez
of Texas Wesleyan is your top seed. He's a returning
All American. Thattius Long of Life he is the number

(06:38):
two seed. Also returning All American Junior College National champion
of three seed, Sean Archiletta of Arizona, Christian Aaron Lucio
Southeastern the four. Jackson Cockrell who started his career at Maryland,
He's a returning All American. For Grandview he is the
five seed. And then you see other highlighted wrestlers. Nick
Foster of Graceland was a junior was a California community

(06:59):
college place wentner back in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
For Lasson a.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Roji Heart of Central Methodist was an NJCAA All American.
Was fifth last year. Isaiah Beavers is a returning All American.
He was the eleven seed. He was eighth last year. Cocker,
of course was sixth as we mentioned long and njcaa
national champion at Carl Albert State in Oklahoma. He is
an Oklahoma native, So those are the names to keep

(07:22):
an eye out for. At one hundred and thirty three pounds.
Moving to one hundred and forty one as we'll look
at things here. If my filter works, you know you
got a multitask up here. I'm not Kai gi im
sitting there. I need I feel like I need to
channel my inner inner Zach Weaver. It's on yep, yep.

(07:47):
Valuable Role. Valuarole dot com is actually the website for
the Vikings of Missouri Valley. Those are the other Vikings
in the same Heart of America conference. Of course, Grandview
is the Vikings as well. Speaking of grand Carson Taylor
is the top seed. He's a four time All American.
He is a four time place winner. And if you
remember the dreaded COVID year, well, the NAI wrestled that year,

(08:10):
so they did not have an interruption or disruption in
their championships. They wrestled and then it was the next
week which we saw D two and D three. That
weekend is where the cancelation happened of that particular championship
in twenty twenty. Of course, I've got the speakeasy here.
I was waiting to have the after party, a bong
all after parties here in Minneapolis. I built the bar
and everything had it set up ready to go, and

(08:31):
we didn't have anyway. I don't want to talk about it.
I don't don't want to talk about ugh anyway. So
as we're looking at the things going on here. With
one hundred and forty one, Carson Taylor has finished fourth, third, second,
and third. He has finished on the podium very highly
four different times, and now he's the one seed in

(08:51):
his ways. Another tailor he's got to look out for
that is Heartwell Taylor from Saint Mary. He's a returning
national champion. He won this weight last year as the
fifteen seed and it was Saint Mary's first national champion
as an NAIA program. Evan Potter the runner up last year.
He's the number three seed from Southern Oregon. He's a
three time All American. He's looking to hit that podium
for the fourth time. This weight is loaded. There's eight

(09:13):
wrestlers in here. I've got highlighted that have all sorts
of credentials to him. Kyle Brisker is an Iowa native.
Decided to go where it was warm. Take someplace where
it's warm. Where the where the wine? Where the what
is it? Water?

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Beer flows like wine? Yeah, with the salmon of Capistrano.
I think that's what that was. Anyway.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Cale Brisker out of Wilton, Iowa. He is at Southeastern.
He's the number four seed. Cade Mannion three time All
American from Oklahoma City, actually started his career with Neil
Erzman at Little Rock before heading back to his native Oklahoma.
He's looking to place for the fourth time. He's gone
four five five and his first three trips. Creighton Brahmin

(09:50):
is a name to watch from Concordia. Guy's been a
placementer at the junior college level, finishing fifth and third
while at Iowa Western. Either norte South African native his
career at Hastings in the NAI he was a place
winner last year and Gage Hudson two time placer. He
was eighth back at twenty twenty one one hundred and
twenty five pounds and was sixth last year for the

(10:12):
University of the Cumberland. So you got a two time
All American that is a fifteen seed. Those are kind
of some dangerous draws. Those are some things you got
to keep an eye on. And I've talked about how
crazy Division three tends to get. The NAI is no exception.
Then AI also gets crazy, So we're going to have
top two and three seeds fall. One year we had

(10:33):
returning national champions get beat in the first round, so
you get some general craziness here in Wichita. Also, Wichita
a great spot. I usually tend to hit Norton's and
Central Standard Brewing when I'm here because I am I'm
a craft beer snob and I do like to sample
the local fair.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Usually.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
I'm looking forward to that when I go to Providence
for Division three Championships next weekend. I'll be flying into
Boston and taking the train. Take a look there. At
one forty one at one hundred and forty nine pounds,
another weight where we've got number of All Americans. We
have ten wrestlers that I've got highlighted here, including Nicholas
Yancey of Campbellsville.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
He was thirty year ago.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Nathan Lentz, the two seed from doan two time All American,
Keegan Luton from Oklahoma City. Two time All American Jace
Lukal from the University of the Cumberlands Remember him, yeah one.
Fargo started out at Fresno State, bounced around.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
A couple places.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Was an All American two years ago, finishing fourth at
one hundred and forty nine pounds for the University of
the Cumberlands. Victor Guzman Junior College All American from Indian Hills.
He's the five seed. Darn I heard from grand you
needed at National at Large to get in. He's a
junior college national champion from Iowa Central. He's grand View's
number six seed. Brett Minor another Iowa Central National finalists

(11:52):
back in twenty twenty one. Again, if you're unfamiliar with
the nai it's going to be names. You're going to
really pay attention to our Grandview In life, they've been
in the team race the last number of actually it's
really mostly been grand View and everybody else, although Life
snuck in there and coach onmi Acosta squad broke a streak.
It was nine straight for Grandview back going into the
two and twenty one championships, and then Life picked it up,

(12:16):
and then Grandview has won twenty two, twenty three, and
twenty four, so Grandview's got twelve titles in the last
thirteen years. Of course, I mentioned this is the sixty
eighth year of the championship.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Again.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
I'll be putting information on my daily wrestling newslettermatic online
dot substack dot com, so you can get all sorts
of bonus materials, not just from here, but from the
Daily Wrestling News and whatnot.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
So i'd see what do we got. Okay, Zach's chiming
in with the correct quote. There we go.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
I'll tell you where, someplace warm, place where a beer
flows like wine, where beautiful women instinctively flocked like the
salmon of Capistrano. Thank you, Zach, thank you, thank you,
thank you for the dumb and dumber actual quotation. I
hate butchering stuff. It was in the script. I was
just shooting from the hip. There other names to keep
an eye on. Alex Payne, you're returning all American. He
was six at one hundred and thirty three pounds back

(13:07):
in twenty twenty one. He's the ten Mario de la
Torre from Southeastern. He was a California Comuty College runner
up at Cerrito's College back in twenty and twenty three
and David Pearson is unseated. He draws the twelve seat
Christopher Airy from movow right off the bat. Pearson was
Saint Thomas's first All American two years ago. He finished
eighth at one hundred and forty one pounds. So again

(13:30):
highlighted on your screen are the wrestlers with those credentials
that you want to pay attention to. As we moved
to one hundred and fifty seven pounds, we're going on
the backing track. This is what's it called backing I do.
Let me give you a little little sample of that.
It's actually a YouTube safe too. You won't need copyright

(13:51):
strikes on this stuff. So I'm trying to background running
it through my Amazon Music. There's a playlist for it
for it.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
It's free.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
It's called backing track. It's just simply what it's called.
From a video. I don't want to say influencer, but
one of the YouTubers that does a lot of how
to video streaming stuff named epos Box, eposvox. It's got
some really good content. Donald Griffin of Central Methodist that
is in a Missouri he is the one seed He's

(14:18):
a returning All American. He was fourth two years ago.
Aaron Gondara is a national place winner and was six
back in twenty twenty two. Started his career at Fresno State.
Now at Southern Oregon. David Rubio of Corbin has twice
been a runner up. He's the number three seed. He's
been fifth, second, and second. Corbin is a relatively new

(14:39):
program up in Oregon. He is the program's most successful
wrestler at this point in time. Four seeds Eighten Graves
from Providence. The number five is Elliott Rogers from Marion.
He was an All American back in twenty twenty two,
finishing sixth. Two time All Americans. Stephen via Lobos is
the seven for Life. Life has two seeded wrestlers at
this weight. Number nine is Fabian Padia. He's at in

(15:00):
New Mexico. He started his his career at Iowa Western,
where oddly he was a three time junior college place
winn He went fifth, second and one like one meaning
winning it, yeah, one and one like number one, and
then w O n yeah. He was a national champion
at the junior callse level in twenty twenty three. Normally
you get two years in the Jucos. But excuse me,
you don't want to, said juco. But he's got he

(15:23):
got three because they got the extra year. The nai
gave the extra year, as did the NJCAA. Cole Price
of Concordia is a junior college All American.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
He's got uh who does he got? Right here? Up
up back? He's got Rubio right off the.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Bat, so good matchup to pay attention to there and
Tom carrs Oklahoma Wesleyan squad. Noah Smith in JCAA place
went out of Carl Albert State, now wrestling for Oklahoma Wesleyan. Unseated,
but he's got some shops to him. So where does
mister Smith's mall? He falls drawing the number ten Hunter
Hobbs of Providence in the opening round. So halfway through

(15:56):
we get to one sixty five. This one has got
the returning finalists from a year ago. You have returning
national champion Jonathan Curvin from Indiana Tech and Keller Rock
from Embry Riddle the returning runner up. They are the
one and two seeds. Cam Robinson of Grandview is the three.
Dylan wit of Grandview is the four, So three to
four there four Coach Nick Mitchell's Vikings to five's Anthony

(16:18):
Frederico Southeastern. Number six seed is O'Brien Black. It's Turner
Black on the brackets end, but it's O'Brian Black in
your hearts. He's a scrappy dude. He's been around for
a while. Matt Jenkins All American is the number seven
seed from Ryan Hart head coach of Jeff Bdard down there.
Also with the seven is Bridger Hall from a University
of Providence that is in Providence. That it's not in Providence,

(16:40):
that is in Montana, that's in Great Falls. Montana used
to be known as the University of Great Falls until
somebody named Providence or some company named Providence gave them
some money and named.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
The school after him. So hey, whatever works right.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Want Lopez of Graceland is a past California Comuny College
play spinner. He was second back in twenty twenty one
while at Mount San Antonio College, then went the Vanguard
route and then they're in a transition from the NAI
to Division two. So he is at Graceland and Brendan
Parks from mo Val. He was an NJCAA placer for
Harper back in twenty twenty two, he got an at

(17:14):
large spot. He draws the number twelve seed Weston Melvin
of the University of the Cumberlands in the first round,
So your all Americans here are kind of dispersed, although
you've got Lopez and Keller Rock meeting in the first
round and then Bridger Hall and Matt Jenkins down there,
so that bottom quad that seems to where the most
of the firepower is. Everything else is kind of spread out.

(17:36):
Moved one hundred and seventy four pounds back in track,
give me some thrash right now, and feeling that there's
eight people here that I've got highlighted at seventy four,
including returning national champion Alex Reynolds of Grandview. Number two
seeds trade more set of Life. Number three seed is
Chris Catch. Him a two time JCAA All American now

(17:57):
wrestling for Saint Thomas. That is the one in Florida
coach by Nasomi Poso. He was a four time national champion.
He won two JUCO titles excuse me, two NJCAA titles
and two NAIA titles while and then finished up at
Life University. So he's down there at Saint Thomas they're
the Bobcats, if I'm not mistaken not to be confused
with the Tommys, which are the Saint Thomas school up

(18:19):
here about fifteen minutes from where I sit in Minnesota.
They don't have wrestling anymore. Shadick Sloane is the four seed.
He's a two time All American for Campbellsville Roman Garcia.
He was fifty year ago for Central Methodist. Frances Morrissey
is the seven. Graham Calhoun, last year's runner up, is
the eight. And he needed an at large selection here
so started his career at Wisconsin, but needed an at

(18:40):
large berth And here's so while say at large, I've
said that twice. So in the NAIA, which you get
as you get allocations, very similar to the Division one championships.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
It's based on rankings.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
How many guys are ranked in the top twenty top
twenty five, I believe, and then the conferences all get
the automatic bid and if they don't qualify, if the
conference bid is an allocated then that we'll steal one.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
From somebody else. So go it'll be it'll slide up.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
So say if the KCAC didn't have anybody in the
top twenty five, Well, they get the autobid, so then
it's the top twenty four.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
So that's how it is.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
But you know, you get an x amount of qualifiers
per per conference, just like Division one does, and then
they go to a pool of national at large selections.
So that's how when you say here national at large,
it's very similar to the at large we have and
the Division one selection show, which has also.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Been Oh boy, it's been a big part of my time.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Is the preview guides Getting ready so a Matt took
online dot com, slash guide, and I guess if you're
listening to this, let's see let me throw a promo
code out there. I know, I know this is an
nai show, but we got a lot of wrestling crossover.
So let's see which promotional code do I want to
throw out there for you watching and listening.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Yeah, let's go podcast.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Just use the promo code podcast at Matt Talk online,
dot com, slash guide and you'll save ten bucks. Let's
throw that out there. I have not done guy for
the NAIA. I do think I could probably come up
with one. I've got a lot of the data for it.
I can tell you that Gray Simons was the first
four time national champion in the NAIA from lock Haven.
He was also a seven time college national champion. He

(20:12):
won three NCAAA titles as well, back when there was
no divisions.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
So gray was a bad mamajama. Back to action. Where
was I at I left off? Graham call Okay.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
I was talking about Graham Calhoun being a national lant
large able Nava from Providence.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
He's an All American, he was thirty year ago. He's
the eleven seed.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
So that bottom, that bottom half is just just gnarly
catch him Nova, Garcia, Morrissey, trace Braun. Trace Braun's the
number fifteen seed returning All American. And that doesn't even
include the number two seed, Morris sat So yeah, one
seventy four.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
It can be kind of filthy down there. We moved
one hundred and eighty four pounds. J D.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Perez has made the move from Ottawa to Life. He
was a three time All American at Ottawa, finishing fifth.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Sixth, and third.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
He's in New Mexico, Native so looking for that fourth
podium spot. William Spade from Lords they are the gray
wolves there, the number two seed, he was fourth a
year ago, long time runner up. I'll say a long
time like long time ago runner up Tyson Boperthy from Don.
He was a runner up back in twenty twenty one
when he was at Midland, left Midland, transferred to Grandview

(21:22):
and then now as at Don for coach Dana Vote.
He's Colorado Springs native Dougherty High School where we used
to run the Metro.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Actually they still run the Metro.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
It's a Colorado Springs high school tournament that USA Wrestling runs,
and it was when I was announcing the Metro a
couple of years. Well, it's actually let me think, what
year is it now, it's twenty twenty five. Yeah, so
like thirteen years ago, was broadcasting the Metro and guys
like Mikah Burak were out there for Ponderosa. I'm not Ponderosa,
he's Coronado. Ponderosa was up just Northen. I screwed down.

(21:52):
That's a bad one. I just screwed up Ponderosa and Coronado.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
My bad.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Sorry, Colorado Springs guys. Sorry, not Colorado Springs guys. That's
just I'm I'm I have to eat that one now.
Kyle Kannutson from Eastern Oregon is your sixth seed, Sawyer Hobbs,
the seven Jamil Coles of Grand View, the eleven Adrian
Chavez Morales, the thirteen Ryland Burns of Montana State Northern,
the fourteen Chavez Morales is a California community college champion

(22:18):
from Sac City for coach Marcus Gales. There that was
back in twenty twenty three. Coles at two times a
place winner. He won the NJCA titles at what is
now known as Fort Hayes Tech Northwest it used to
be Northwest Tech and then was seventh last year. Sawyer
Hobbs was sixth back in twenty twenty three. I mentioned
Bo Perthy, he was a runner up back in twenty

(22:40):
twenty one. Hobbs was sixth back in twenty twenty three,
So eight guys there with some creds. We moved to
one hundred and ninety seven pounds now last year. Actually
it was a couple of years ago that there were
two entries from Grand View at this weight and one's
name was Ben Lee and then the other, as if

(23:01):
you're looking at this on your screen, was GK Geravu Quekabakulau.
That one I needed to practice quite a bit. He
is from California. I believe he's originally a native of Congo.
So national champion as well, so he has a lot
of letters in his name and he has a lot
of credentials as a national champion. Behind him Bradley Andtisberger

(23:24):
of don is a three time All American who's actually
four if you count the year he wrestled in CWA
with the school formerly known as Dixie State now known
as Utah Tech. Alaska native shout out Kaylin Baxter, So
one of my guys from Alaska. I'll see this weekend.
His teammate krt cast in Grape it was fourth of

(23:45):
Yurogo actually outplaced Antisberger last year at this weight class.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Antisberger the number two seed.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
He's gone fourth, third, and seventh in the NAIA Grape
was fourth last year. Elijah Hines of Missouri Valley eighth
and fourth, so he's a two time. Austin Vannock of
Montana State Northern was seventh in twenty twenty three and
got a couple California Community College place winners here again.
Alex Carris, Alex Carris, Eric Carris. Alex Carris was in

(24:11):
Webster and played for the Detroit Lions. Eric Carris for
Eastern Oregon was second in the California Community Colleges for
sax City back in twenty twenty one Junior College All Americans.
John Lovett of Ryan Hart and John Brave Whalen Baptist
in the mix unseeded. So you see them on the screen. One, two, three, four,
Five of the wrestlers I mentioned are in that top half,

(24:32):
including four of them in the top quad. So that's
gonna be a tough one to get out of from
that one's my gk's got a minefield already. Geravu quikabaco
law when I say that to Nick Mitchell, the Grandview coach,
because now you're just showing off moving to two hundred
and eighty five pounds, This one's going to be devoid
of a returning hammer. Greg Hagen did not compete for

(24:52):
Grandview at the conference championships. Not haven't gotten any clarity
on why that is. He just was not entered. He had,
he was wrestling throughout the year, he would have had
a chance to go for a fifth All American medal,
but that's not to be had. So we go Gage
Braun as the one seed from Southeastern. He's a past
national champion, returning national champion from twenty twenty two. Started

(25:16):
his career at Northern Illinois as a graduate student out
of Saint Paris Graham. So you know Ohio native Ernest
Johnson of Life. He was an All American in twenty
and twenty three. Part of his career kaiser Kenneth Coppley
from Embery Riddle is the five and Tony Rodgers, No, Frankie,

(25:38):
you don't miss it. You can go back, go back
and record. This is all recorded. Don't worry, man, don't worry.
Don't worry, Frankie, we'll put that on there.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Yep. Changing Medaglasov. Yeah, Frankie.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
James and I once were at the NWCA convention and
we were sitting at at a table where they deal
you cards, and I I was warn of Campbellsville hat.
I still have that hat over here somewhere. It might
be in the might be in the storage room in
my box. I got two hundred hats.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Man.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
You think I got wrestling, sure today, I got wrestling
hat today like crazy too. Tony Rodgers of Lindsay Wilson
is the other name to keep an eye on here.
He is spent some time at life and at laston
where he was a California Community College place winner back
in two thousand and eighteen. So if I run through
some numbers here, I'm not going to just be done yet.
So those are the brackets again. Let's go back on

(26:28):
the wide screen here, so let's see what I got
in the mind of me as I put out stuff together.
So let's run some filters. We'll sort again. Sorry for
the unpreparedness here, just getting this thing done before I
gotta go pick up my daughter from art class. So Grandview, Life,
Southeastern University of the Cumberlands have qualified twelve each done.

(26:50):
Indiana Tech and Providence have eleven, Embry Riddle and Southern
Oregon have ten, Campbellsville, corbyin Mo Val have nine, Concordia
of Nebraska, Montanna.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
State Northern and Saint Mary each have eight.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Who's got the most champs all time in the NAIA? Well,
right now the most all time individual championships likes total
championship have not individuals, but total total number ones. Grandview
has overtaken that they have thirty nine, Southern Oregon thirty six,
Montana State Northern with thirty four, then Missouri Valley with ten,
Life in Lindsay Wilson with ten, actually, Missouri Valley with eighteen, life.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
In Lindsay Wilson with ten.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
When it comes to all time medals, one Southern Oregon
one of again those legacy programs that have been around
since the.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Since the early days the dawn of time, back.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
When there were commandments and such that were being etched
into stone top of Mount Siini. There two hundred and fifty.
I'm not saying that they were old, but they're kind of.
That's an established program. Southern Oregon with two hundred and
fifty All Americans All Time, Montana State Northern with one
hundred and ninety five, Missouri Valley with one hundred and seventy,
then Grandview with one hundred and forty eight, Dickinson State

(27:58):
with one hundred and twenty four another one these legacy programs,
and wey Riddle with ninety eight, University the Comers of
eighty eight, Providence formerly known as Great Falls with seventy,
Campbellville sixty eight, Life fifty six.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Lindsay Wilson fifty six. So that is what what did
I do? Ten?

Speaker 1 (28:12):
There? Did I just randomly pull out top to Yeah,
sweet top ten, that'll work. So that's where I've got
for that again. I will be throwing out some more
stats and such as, such as the you know, the
record book. I helped the nai redo the record book
a couple of years ago, and actually probably longer than
a couple of years ago.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Let me think who was that. Who's Alan Grossbach. I
think was the media guy.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Then that was Amanda the artist formerly known as Amanda Doll,
now am into Immil. She's the one who first got
me to come to the NAIs back in twenty twelve
when they were in Des Moines. I was covering. I
went to the NAIs and then I did the West
Regional at you and I. That's how I talked to
Gary Abbott when I was working at USA Wrestling to
let me cover this event, and then shortly thereafter I
ended up on a broadcast, and then shortly there after that,

(28:57):
I moved to Minnesota and then started coming down when
it was in Topeka. Patrick Kelly did some awesome stuff there.
I think it's Blind Tiger Brewing. He got me a
nice little my box from there. I still have the
glass good stuff. Like I said, I'm a craft beer snob,
so I'm gonna be hitting Central Standard.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
I might be hitting Norton's.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Norton's got some really good food there too, And Norton's
actually had a collab with Surly, which is a brewery
pure matter of factors. A Surly sign just behind the
Kal Wheedies box behind me. Anyway, I'm talking about craft beer.
That's not being a real champion of character right now,
which is something the ANII also does. They really highlight
the servant leadership and stuff. So this is a really
fun tournament, folks. And I know that you're gonna be

(29:34):
overrun with Division one qualifier information, but this is one
I love announcing this tournament. You know, I say that
one of the better calls I've ever had was Sawyer
Miller when he won.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
It's Miller time.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
But anyway, I gotta go get my kids. I'll see
you in Wichita this weekend. Thanks and enjoy the ride.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
