ninety five, had no idea what I was doing, just
kind of made it up as I went. No different
from today, it's still make it up as I go.
I don't know what about. You know, the first two
shows I did, I recorded them to sem to a
friend of mine who was in the radio business. He said, well,

you know, it sounds like you're reading the opening monologue.
I said, well, I am. He says, well, don't do that.
He says, you know this stuff, you don't have to
write it out and read anyone, Okay. And that was
the last I ever did of reading anything on the air.
I just yamh her. So it's one of those deals,
if you know, for better or for worse, if it works,
if for enough people like it, it'll work. If they don't,

watched a report ON cnn about assault, weapons and the
crux of the story was how often so called assault
weapons are used in crime and they were responsible for
such a large percentage of crimes And i'm listening to,

This i'm, THINKING i know that's not. TRUE i, MEAN
i know for THAT i figures that's not. True and
THEN cnn went further and they, said, well this is
according to.

and they actually actually listed the name of the agent
who said this and quoted him on. THIS i, went,
well that's. Interesting, so being the tenacious little bs ear

guy and find out why he said. That it took
me a, while CALLED, dc tracked him, down finally found the,
agent got him on the. Phone nobody else was going
to do, this AND i talked to the. Guy he
was not. Happy here's what he told. Me he, says you,

course at that, point bells are going off with my,
head ding ding. Ding WHAT cnn quoted? You? Man he, Says, No,
No i've never talked to anybody FROM. Cnn he, Says
and IF i had spoken with, THEM i would have

said exactly the. Opposite that these rifles are rarely used in.
Crime they are at such a small, number it is statistically.
Insignificant you can't even find it in the background. Noise
SO cnn made up the, quote made up the stat

and lied about the whole. Thing. MAN i was, frustrated
because what do you go? Do put it in guns
and ammol, Great BUT i, said, Well i'll chase it.
Down SO i started CONTACTING cnn week after week after.
WEEK i CALLED cnn talk to. People took about two,
months maybe two and a half. MONTHS i finally got

somebody there and plain the whole thing and they, went,
wow that's that's not. Good our reporter made up a.
Quote we're gonna look into. That, YEAH i bet you.
Are they, said, well you, know, well finally they, said,
yeah it turns out he was a kind of a

part time. Reporter he made that, up and we're going
to do an on air. Retraction never saw. That but
this was just part of what was going, on and
the public believed every bit of it because there was
no way for them to get any other information about.
This there was no place for them to. GO i,

mean unless you're a gun. Person you're Reading guns AND
ammo or you, Know Guns illustrated Or Shooting, Illustrator Stoodent
times or, something you, know and that's what of the
gun owners Of. America forget what the percentage is of,
people the. Voters so they simply believed, It, oh assault
weaponry used in. Crime they're responsible for all these murders

BECAUSE i saw it, there and THE atf, says, so
THE cnn, said THE atf, said, though so they even
named The asian who said, that how are you going
to fight? That, well we didn't have a mass media.

have to come select self, select they didn't have to

seeing him faking. Stories and they had a cop shooting

quote unquote assault weapon and shooting another, rifle both of,
them a shooting two two three. Mo wait for. It
this is really. Good and they showed that when they
shot a cinder block with the assault, weapon it just
blasted the cinder block to, crumbs it's. Pieces but when

they shot another cinder block just like that with two
two THREE, amo same, ammo right out of a rifle
that wasn't an assault, weapon you couldn't see any damage
to the cinder block at, all thus showing just how
powerful these evil assault weapons. Were of, course it was all.

Faked and to his, CREDIT i will say. THIS a
couple of days, Later Wayne lapierrez being the interviewer live ON,
cnn and he called for the firing Of John sorella
for faking the. STORY cnn had such a hissy fit
they cut off the. Interview they, said you can't say
that about our. Reporter you can't say he faked. It

so clearly ef faked. It clearly it's. Faked if you
shoot the same bullet at the same, speed it hits
the same, target it does the same amount of, damage
regardless of the firearm it came out.

the room and looking down and clearing their throats and

they call room. Tone they always want to record an empty,
room just get the background noise and. Stay they, say
everybody be, Quiet we're just gonna. Record we're gonna roll
cameras or body quiet for thirty. Seconds we're gonna get room. Tone,
well they used the room tone video and inserted it
in to make it look like these gun people couldn't
answer this tough question That Katie kirk had given. Him

which is you vote for gun control and you will

i've got three words that will help you make the
shots you need to make when you're. Hunting three little
words that are going to make you a better and

Here we're talking about thirty years of gun, talk well
actually pretty much this. Week and one of the THINGS
i was thinking about is the way that competition shooting has.
CHANGED i, mean we had bullseye, pistol we had bitch
ress shooting and maybe the beginnings of uspsa action, pistol
but not a lot. Else and now we've got all
this long rain. Shooting and wanted to get our Friend

Kevin jarniga AND kJ from The Gun talk team in
here because he has been crazy enough to enter that. WORLD,
kJ what do you do and spending all this money
and beating up your?

BODY i finally got to a point where it was,
like you know, what you need to test your skills
against other shooters and find out what other shooters do
are doing out there to enhance their. Skills and that's
that's the whole reason behind me getting into long range.

Shooting there's really no other way to know how good
you are other than going and putting it to the.
Test is?
Speaker 12 (23:11):
There there's really no, better better thing than competition to
really bring out your skills as a shooter and really
learning how good these guys really are is.

Unbelievable, yeah it's like you, Going, OKAY i THOUGHT i
was a pretty decent, shot and then you get out
with these people and you're, GOING i know.
Speaker 12 (23:32):
Nothing i'm very much an infant in this world of
long range, shooting and it's really has, Exploded tom AND
i love to see it because everybody's. Welcoming you, know
all the competitions That i've, DONE i have gotten so
much information over those competitions that it really has enhanced
(23:52):
the WAY i shoot and the WAY i.

Hunt describe because there are various types of long range shooting.
Competitions talk about the one that you're doing primarily.
Speaker 12 (24:01):
Now, well the One i'm doing primarily now is CALLED Nrl,
hunter So National Rifle League hunter, matches and these are
all it's kind of a kickoff of THE, prs The
Precision Rifle, series where you are shooting longer ranges most
of the times out to one thousand yards on some,
stages but anywhere as close as two hundred. Yards so
(24:25):
you go up and it's a blind, stage so you
know the targets you're looking, for and that is. It
so you go up to a. Stage you have four
minutes to complete the, stage which seems like an, eternity
but it goes quick.

Because you've got to find the. Targets you don't even
know where they. Are they're out there somewhere and so
now you start using your hunter, skills you're spotting. Skills
are you using? Binoculars what are you used to find the?
Speaker 12 (24:51):
Targets, Yeah i've been using a pair of bino range finding.
Binoculars so that's with a rangefinder built. In that's the
most efficient way you can do. It it really is
about testing your limits and testing your.

Skill it's not a.
Speaker 12 (25:09):
Game and a lot of guys in LIKE prs, matches you,
know they typically get titled like gamers like you Can,
okay IF i get the right, GEAR i can compete in.
This this Is i've seen guys compete with very minimal
and do really. Well And i've seen guys myself have

really really good equipment and not fare so.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Well so what skills have you picked up from this
competition that have helped you with your?
Speaker 12 (25:39):
Hunting win is everything. Wind understanding wind will win you
matches and it'll allow you to close the deal on
those game animals because when that wind picks up to
fifteen to twenty five miles an, hour there is a
big jump in what your hold on is when and
(26:01):
the other thing is really your efficiency and movement and
setting up on an animal or a. Target if you
can be more. Efficient you have more time to get
locked into your position before you take that.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Shot because it's interesting you say, that BECAUSE i know
people who get into hunting and it's like you, go,
okay there's the, deer or go, ahead get, ready and
it's like they're taking forever to get the gun off their,
shoulder to try to work around in the you, know
to try to get down into a shooting position to
try to find and you're going just shooting For god's.

Sake everything really ends up slowing. Down the more you,
compete the slower it. Becomes and so this, year you,
know on my, hunt on a white tail, HUNT i
was set, UP i was ready to. GO a deer
came out AND i had the shot closed in less
than thirty. Seconds because OF i knew those those fluid
(27:00):
moments and. Everything it just flooded back and it was
almost LIKE i was in a, competition but everything slowed.

Down sure you got the, skills, okay because the skill
of what we're talking about is being able to get
the rifle if it's on your shoulder or in your, pack,
whatever get it, out get it, loaded get down to
a shooting, position find the, target and get the shot,
off and if the more you practice, it the better
you get At so tell me real quick run down
the gear you're shooting right. Now, rifle cartridge?
Speaker 11 (27:27):
Scope, okay rifle.
Speaker 12 (27:29):
Carterscope i'm shooting a six creed more and that's kind
of the standard IN nrol. Competitions And i'm shooting a
Loophole mark four five or six to. Eighteen not a big,
optic you, know it's pretty small considering most guys will
shoot five to twenty. Five and then my rifle is

a surgeon action on AN MDT Acc gen two stock or.

Chassis would you say that this kind of competition has
made you a better, shooter a better? Hunter, oh one hundred.
Speaker 11 (28:05):
Percent.
Speaker 12 (28:06):
Uh i'm no longer scared of the beef when it goes,
OFF i just. Go you know, WHAT i know the,
PROCESS i know What i've got to get done and
in the order of which it needs to be. Done
and so it's maybe a more calm. Shooter i'm not as,
Rushed i'm not As i'm more, Calm if that makes.

Sense. Yep has it changed your maximum distance that you'll
take a shot on a live?
Speaker 12 (28:30):
ANIMAL i wouldn't say. THAT i wouldn't say it has changed.
THAT i still have very strict standards when it comes
to you, know what Position i'm shooting in that really
dictates the distance of shot That i'm going to take
on an. Animal i'm pretty picky when it comes to.
That i'd much rather close that distance than open that distance.

Up, well that's the difference between being a hunter and a.

watched a report ON cnn about assault, weapons and the
crux of the story was how often so called assault
weapons are used in crime and they were responsible for
such a large percentage of crimes And i'm listening to,

This i'm, THINKING i know that's not. TRUE i, MEAN
i know for THAT i figures that's not. True and
THEN cnn went further and they, said, well this is
according to.

and they actually actually listed the name of the agent
who said this and quoted him on. THIS i, went,

me a, while CALLED, dc tracked him, down finally found the,
agent got him on the. Phone nobody else was going
to do, this AND i talked to the. Guy he

course at that, point bells are going off with my,
head ding ding. Ding WHAT cnn quoted? You? Man he, Says, No,
No i've never talked to anybody FROM. Cnn he, Says

said exactly the. Opposite that these rifles are rarely used in.
Crime they are at such a small, number it is statistically.
Insignificant you can't even find it in the background. Noise
SO cnn made up the, quote made up the stat

and ammol, Great BUT i, said, Well i'll chase it.
Down SO i started CONTACTING cnn week after week after.
WEEK i CALLED cnn talk to. People took about two,
months maybe two and a half. MONTHS i finally got

somebody there and plain the whole thing and they, went,
wow that's that's not. Good our reporter made up a.
Quote we're gonna look into. That, YEAH i bet you.
Are they, said, well you, know, well finally they, said,
yeah it turns out he was a kind of a

part time. Reporter he made that, up and we're going
to do an on air. Retraction never saw. That but
this was just part of what was going, on and
the public believed every bit of it because there was
no way for them to get any other information about.
This there was no place for them to. GO i,

mean unless you're a gun. Person you're Reading guns AND
ammo or you, Know Guns illustrated Or Shooting, Illustrator Stoodent
times or, something you, know and that's what of the
gun owners Of. America forget what the percentage is of,
people the. Voters so they simply believed, It, oh assault
weaponry used in. Crime they're responsible for all these murders

BECAUSE i saw it, there and THE atf, says, so
THE cnn, said THE atf, said, though so they even
named The asian who said, that how are you going
to fight? That, well we didn't have a mass media.
Outlet we had. Nothing that's why that is WHY i.

fact do gun, talk because we needed a mass media,
outlet something that reached out and grabbed. People they didn't
have to come select self, select they didn't have to
be gun people who are reading a gun. Magazine NOW
cnn did it again a little bit. Later the Reporter John's,

seeing him faking. Stories and they had a cop shooting

quote unquote assault weapon and shooting another, rifle both of,
them a shooting two two three. Mo wait for. It
this is really. Good and they showed that when they
shot a cinder block with the assault, weapon it just
blasted the cinder block to, crumbs it's. Pieces but when

they shot another cinder block just like that with two
two THREE, amo same, ammo right out of a rifle
that wasn't an assault, weapon you couldn't see any damage
to the cinder block at, all thus showing just how
powerful these evil assault weapons. Were of, course it was all.

Faked and to his, CREDIT i will say. THIS a
couple of days, Later Wayne lapierrez being the interviewer live ON,
cnn and he called for the firing Of John sorella
for faking the. STORY cnn had such a hissy fit
they cut off the. Interview they, said you can't say
that about our. Reporter you can't say he faked. It

so clearly ef faked. It clearly it's. Faked if you
shoot the same bullet at the same, speed it hits

all the competitions That i've, DONE i have gotten so
much information over those competitions that it really has enhanced

the WAY i shoot and the WAY i.

Hunt describe because there are various types of long range shooting.
Competitions talk about the one that you're doing primarily.

Now, well the One i'm doing primarily now is CALLED Nrl,
hunter So National Rifle League hunter, matches and these are
all it's kind of a kickoff of THE, prs The
Precision Rifle, series where you are shooting longer ranges most
of the times out to one thousand yards on some,
stages but anywhere as close as two hundred. Yards so
(24:25):
you go up and it's a blind, stage so you
know the targets you're looking, for and that is. It
so you go up to a. Stage you have four
minutes to complete the, stage which seems like an, eternity
but it goes quick.

Because you've got to find the. Targets you don't even
know where they. Are they're out there somewhere and so
now you start using your hunter, skills you're spotting. Skills
are you using? Binoculars what are you used to find the?
Speaker 12 (24:51):
Targets, Yeah i've been using a pair of bino range finding.
Binoculars so that's with a rangefinder built. In that's the
most efficient way you can do. It it really is
about testing your limits and testing your.

Game and a lot of guys in LIKE prs, matches you,
know they typically get titled like gamers like you Can,
okay IF i get the right, GEAR i can compete in.
This this Is i've seen guys compete with very minimal
and do really. Well And i've seen guys myself have

really really good equipment and not fare so.

Well so what skills have you picked up from this
competition that have helped you with your?

Hunting win is everything. Wind understanding wind will win you
matches and it'll allow you to close the deal on
those game animals because when that wind picks up to
fifteen to twenty five miles an, hour there is a
big jump in what your hold on is when and

the other thing is really your efficiency and movement and
setting up on an animal or a. Target if you
can be more. Efficient you have more time to get
locked into your position before you take that.

Shot because it's interesting you say, that BECAUSE i know
people who get into hunting and it's like you, go,
okay there's the, deer or go, ahead get, ready and
it's like they're taking forever to get the gun off their,
shoulder to try to work around in the you, know
to try to get down into a shooting position to
try to find and you're going just shooting For god's.

Sake everything really ends up slowing. Down the more you,
compete the slower it. Becomes and so this, year you,
know on my, hunt on a white tail, HUNT i
was set, UP i was ready to. GO a deer
came out AND i had the shot closed in less
than thirty. Seconds because OF i knew those those fluid

moments and. Everything it just flooded back and it was
almost LIKE i was in a, competition but everything slowed.

Down sure you got the, skills, okay because the skill
of what we're talking about is being able to get
the rifle if it's on your shoulder or in your, pack,
whatever get it, out get it, loaded get down to
a shooting, position find the, target and get the shot,
off and if the more you practice, it the better
you get At so tell me real quick run down
the gear you're shooting right. Now, rifle cartridge?

Scope, okay rifle.
Speaker 12 (27:29):
Carterscope i'm shooting a six creed more and that's kind
of the standard IN nrol. Competitions And i'm shooting a
Loophole mark four five or six to. Eighteen not a big,
optic you, know it's pretty small considering most guys will
shoot five to twenty. Five and then my rifle is

a surgeon action on AN MDT Acc gen two stock or.

Chassis would you say that this kind of competition has
made you a better, shooter a better? Hunter, oh one hundred.

Percent.

Uh i'm no longer scared of the beef when it goes,
OFF i just. Go you know, WHAT i know the,
PROCESS i know What i've got to get done and
in the order of which it needs to be. Done
and so it's maybe a more calm. Shooter i'm not as,
Rushed i'm not As i'm more, Calm if that makes.

Sense. Yep has it changed your maximum distance that you'll
take a shot on a live?

ANIMAL i wouldn't say. THAT i wouldn't say it has changed.
THAT i still have very strict standards when it comes
to you, know what Position i'm shooting in that really
dictates the distance of shot That i'm going to take
on an. Animal i'm pretty picky when it comes to.
That i'd much rather close that distance than open that distance.

of very experienced hunters don't have all that stuff on their.

gun simple rifle or three to nine variable with no
twisty dials on, IT a simple, rifle lightweight that you can,

carry not a ten twelve thirteen pound. Monstrosity it's got
doodads and stuff all over. It you, know it's the
ninety ten. Rule you. Know are you called eighty? TWENTY
i don't. Care are you trying to make sure that
you can handle the ten percent shot or probably more

like the two percent shot four hundred yards from beyond
when ninety ninety five percent of the shots are going
to be inside of three hundred yards, Probably and now
you've got all the stuff you're carrying, around it's slowing it,
down and it's making you, tired and it makes it
harder for you to get on target. Quickly it is

so frustrating for me to see somebody out there trying
to figure out how to get his gun on. TARGET
i can't find. HIM i can't do. THIS i got.
THIS i gotta twist. This oh my. God you, KNOW
i don't have a round in the. Chamber oh my,
god we were in the middle of all these. Animals
you don't have a round in the. Chamber three? Words
just shoot? It how do you do? That you go

back to old? School, YEAH i, KNOW i. Know people,
say oh he's a fun, yep. Real Sometimes i'm old.
SCHOOL i like things at work and are. Simple if
you got something like a six or, two seven or
SEVEN prc or sixty, FIVE i don't care what it,
is sight it in one hundred, yards have the bullet
hitting three inches above your point of aim at one
(36:11):
hundred yards three inches high at one hundred. Yards that
puts you onto three hundred. Yards it might drop two.
Inches or here here's the. Deal take out a dollar,
bill fold it in. Half that's three. Inches now take
that folded and a half dollar bill and slap it
on your chest and look at. That do you think
(36:31):
you're going to miss the deer or an elk because
you're three inches off at three hundred. Yards, no you're.
Not sight in three three inches high one hundred yards
and out to three hundred or even three hundred and fifty.
Yards hold on the animal and press the. Trigger just shoot.

It go for, simple simple will get you your deer
or your, elk or your moose or your. Pronghorn and
if he's further than, that if you got your lady
to range, fighter so it's four hundred, yards if you
have looked at your drop tables and you go almost
certainly you still want to be aiming at, hair don't,

dial hold one inch below the back. Line that, way
if you somehow have screwed up on the estimate of
the drange and he's closer than you, thought you still
hit the. Spine hold one inch below the back. Line
under the spine at four hundred, yards the bullet will

Again don't, dial just. Shoot AND i get people, go,
oh you don't, understand you, know with today's modern, cartridges

hunters would be better off getting the rifle off their
shoulder and into a shooting position and trying to drive
fire get a shot off in fifteen, seconds because a
lot of it takes them a minute to get the
gun off the, shoulder to get everything worked, out to

a tripod or a bipod or. Whatever just flop over
the backpack and get on the animal and press the.
Trigger he's ninety five, yards he's fifty five. Yards you
don't need a. Rest shoot off hand. Shooting oh, Yeah
one other, thing if you want to add something to
your rifle to really make it, better just get a good.
TRIGGER a lot of rifles so they do come with good,

triggers but if your's, doesn't get yourself a good. Trigger
that's where you can put money that. Does you're good
on every, shot doesn't matter what the range, is and
it really helps you with off hand. Shots so my
