Speaker 2 (00:16):
Hey, welcome to Gun Talk. I'm Tom Gresham and you've
landed here because that's all we do around here. We
talk about guns and shooting and hunting and gear and
everything else. Of course that politics makes this way into
the discussion. As always, if you want to be part
of the discussion, give me a call eight six six
Talk Gun or Tom Talk Gun. Look a little bit later,
I'm going to talk about the gun I'm going to

(00:37):
be using all my moose hunt. We've got some other
things going on. We'll talk about competition shooting. But there's
a story in the news that we're going to have
to talk about and you may have heard about this,
and it's about the Hearing Protection Act, which we've been
talking about for years now, which is the idea is
to get suppressors and silencers completely removed from all restrictions

(00:59):
from inn FA, no tax, no registration, no figerprinting, all
of that. Been working on that for a while, and
so that has actually been discussed and worked on in
Congress right now. And then this thing blew up, this
crazy story this week, and the idea was that a
major manufacturer of silencers is working against the HPA. And

(01:20):
as you know, we love a conspiracy, I say, we
in this firearms world more than anything, we love to
fight amongst ourselves and eat our own. So I'm thinking, okay,
let's find out what's really going on here. The story
is about Silencers Central, and right now we're joined by
Brandon Maddox. He is the founder and CEO of Silence
or Central brand. I sure appreciates you being.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Here, Yes, sir, appreciate the opportunity.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Okay, and we've got to get this out of the way.
Silence or Central has been a sponsored advertiser on gun Talk,
so I want to make sure to your truth and advertiser,
we got that out there for everybody where are we
what's going on? I mean, I just said to you, Brandon,
tell me what's going on, because I am seeing stories
about sign or Central hiring lobbyists to work against the

(02:08):
passes of Hearing Protection Act to make sure that silentiers
stay in NFA. It goes on and on.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
You have the floorisher, Well, you tell me how far
back to me to start you want to hear kind
of the whole thing or in the middle.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Or now go for it. Man, we did. We did
the whole story as much as you want to share.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Okay, I'm bad about oversharing, my wife says. So. So
I got a email over the weekend this last weekend
asking Silence for Central to come out and say that
we would be one hundred percent for the Hearing Protection
Acts and we would have a no compromise position. And

(02:46):
the email came from a group that we've never honestly
worked with before no reason in particular.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Gun Owners of America got who the group is?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Well, you said, I have to say, I say it.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I know who it is, and that's there.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Their whole deal is trying to pin people to the
wall and say no compromise, no compromise.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
I right.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
And you should know I have had issues with that
approach for many years in terms of, you know, does
it really accomplish what we want? Sometimes I think it
works against us. Having said that, Oka, I'm gona step
back out of the way. Go ahead.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yeah, So, I mean we've worked with a National Shooting
Sports Foundation. We've worked with NRA, and we've worked with
the Congressional Sportsman's Foundation, but you know, we weren't familiar
with this group. So you know, I called our lobbyists
and said, what do you think? And they said, well,
you know, we've toured your facility. You know, on the
wall you say the most important thing is the customer,
And if the customer could get something that was close

(03:39):
to that, would you be against it? I mean, you've
got a family, feed, you got employees, you got customers.
I mean, you can't take such a hard line approach.
And I was like, yeah, you're right, Actually I agree
with you, you know. And even to back up further,
so many many months ago, a person that you know
called me really early one morning. I'll call him an

(04:00):
industry lobbyist and insider, and he said, I was at
a congressional reception with congressional leadership and they basically said
they're going to push the Hearing Protection Act through the
budget reconciliation process. So, I mean, you know, I'm a pharmacist,
so I had no idea what this was, but I
just said, I said, bottom line, what do I need

(04:21):
to do?

Speaker 3 (04:21):
He said, you need to make more products. So that's
what we did.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I think people forget that although I own Silence for Central,
I also own the product banished suppressors. I mean, you know,
I don't know how common knowledge it is, but we
did over one hundred million dollars and vanished.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Suppressors last year.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
So obviously, if the Hearing Protection Act goes through, I mean,
that's a huge win for us because if we could
sell that many with the regulations in place, think about
how many I could sell if the regulations weren't in place.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
So can't can I stop just a second or so? Yeah?
From the manufacturer standpoint making suppressures, you could sell a
lot more, but from signs your central standpoint, because what
you've been able to do is streamline and simplifies the
process of buying us a pressure. But if that's not necessary,
then Solads or Central would be in trouble, wouldn't it. Yeah?

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Absolutely, so I think people hone in on that. But
you have to realize that even if Silence as Central
went away, I mean, we'd still have a website. We're
selling our product other people's products, you know, from that perspective,
But the upside for banish would be so great that
it would offset any losses you were to get on
the silence or central side. So you know, again, the

(05:32):
way it was presented to me is you don't have
an option, here's what's coming.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
So we're like, great, let's pivot.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
So I hired a third party contract salesforce that's selling
banish at local dealers right now, because that would be
the next uh. You know, typically we only kept banish internally.
We would only sell it if you bought it from us.
But you know, we sort of have pivoted. Now we
have a whole team that calls on you know, gun
stores selling them banished. We have distributors that are you know,
almost all the major distributors now carry banish.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
To sell the dealers. So we've really pivoted.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Our model and preparation for the Hearing Protection Acts.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
So you've actually changed your business anticipating and planning for
the passage of HPA.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
One hundred percent. So no one ever asked that, but
that's I mean, that's that's the truth. I mean, you know,
but it also made sense just from a risk mitigation.
I think eventually the Hair Protection Acts is going to
go through either because of the courts or through you know,
legislative action, or even potentially some executive actual Trump. So
I think we felt like it could come. But when
I hear from an industry person, Hey, you know, congressional

(06:31):
leadership is saying they're going to push it through, then
we had to pivot tight. So then, you know, think
think about fast forward a little bit after I get
this call from this industry lobbyist that you know, you know.
So then I said out with my lobbyist and I'm like, okay,
what do we think about this? And they're like, the
only concern they had is they said, the budget reconciliation

(06:53):
process will only allow budgetary items to go through it.
You can't run policy items through there. Because the difference
is the budget reconciliation process only requires a majority vote.
So if you could run policy through there, then anytime
someone had the majority in the House and the Senate
and the presidency, they would run.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Every policy through there.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
So there's this thing in the Senate called the Bird Rule,
which stops you from running policy. So my lobbyist, who's
also an attorney, said, I don't think Hearing Protection Act
can go through at all through the budgetary reconciliation process,
because it's one hundred percent policy. He said, I think
we need to be thinking about a backup because if
it gets put in with a congressional bill and then

(07:37):
it goes to the Senate and the Senate pulls it
out from a parliamentarian procedural process, then we got nothing.
So yeah, I mean so in other words, we were
willing to compromise. In our mind, we would rather walk
away with something than nothing.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
And I think that may be.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Probably where we differ with some of other organizations. You know,
if I call my cust stomers and I said, hey,
I was one hundred percent focused on the Hearing Protection
Act and I couldn't get it because of a parliamentarian
procedure in the Senate, but I was able to get
you two hundred dollars off your tax DAMP. I feel
like my customers, they wouldn't be as happy, but they're

(08:15):
going to be happier than having an empty bag with
nothing in it.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Okay, I get what you're saying. Have a backup plan,
which is always good in life anyway. So some straightforward
questions have you? I mean, you have had at least
a couple of different lobbying firms, and people are going
to say, well, let let's ask this one. Why do
you have lobbying firms? Because people are gonn want to
know that.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yeah, good question.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
So you know a lot of different things happen in
DC that you worry about. Some of them you know
come into you know, fruition, some don't.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
You know.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
When I first got them, we were worried about funding
at ATF because we felt like it was taking a
year to get a suppressor. If we could just get
some more funding for ATF, then we could help speed
up the process. So that was one of the first
things we've worked on. We've worked on other like, you know,
we passed a bill last year that we were able
to speed things up on our end. There's a lot
of little things that come up that you also just

(09:06):
need to be protected. But you know, one initiative that
we've started probably a year and a half ago, that
you know, kind of translates into all this controversy.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
The lobbyists we.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
Hired, and honestly, we've only had one lobby firm, but
it's two different gentlemen, and I think they have two
different LLCs. So on paper, it may appear as if
it's two, but it's really one. So we've had the
same lobbyists for like the last two and a half
three years. But the main lobbyist we use he does
all the conservation groups.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Seis you know, the whole different groups in conservation.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
And he came to us and said, hey, currently the
tax stamp that two hundred dollars goes directly to the
federal Treasury, so it's not earmarked for anything.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
So his question to us is would your consumers.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Feel better about writing a check of two hundred dollars
if it went to conservation? And I was like, tell
me more, and he's like, well, you know, the Pittman
Robertson also funds gun ranges. I'm like, yep, and he
said it also funds game fish and parks. So if
some of these states start getting money from conservation monies,
then hopefully they would be less likely to make silencers illegal.

(10:14):
We always worry about Washington or Oregon or even recently
New Mexico's you know, flipping and making silencers illegal.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
But it was a two sort of a you know, two.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Tier approach that if we could get that tax stamp
reallocated instead of just going to General Treasury, get it
to go to conservation. Then our customers would feel better
about buying that. We potentially could sell more silencers, but
then also we'd protect our rights in the states where
it's sometimes iffy where they might try to make them illegal.
So some of the reports, I guess our lobbyists have

(10:46):
to file quarterly reports as to what they did with
us and what they talked about. And I think one
of the summaries they said, talk about the tax stamp
and conservation.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Yeah, actual online says very specifically. The efforts were described,
quote develop and support suppressor tax stamp conservation legislation. And
some people looked at that and said, oh, they want
to conserve and protect the tax stamp, in other words,
work in opposition to HPA. You're saying that's not all

(11:17):
what that was.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
No, No, it's one hundred percent conservation meeting animals, meeting
Pittman Robertson.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
You know, the most people don't realize that, you know,
the sort of the.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
Excise tax that's already charged on firearms, ammunition, archer equipment
goes into the Pittman Robertson. So it's already a well orchestrated,
well old machine far as where money goes to conservation
a good cause. Yeah, I mean I think people are
just pulling it out of context. I think it's probably,
you know, people that are out to get us.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
So it's hard to defend that.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
There's always that, all right, let me ask you a
point blank. Have you or your lobbyist ever worked to
oppose the passage of the Hearing Protection Act?

Speaker 4 (11:59):
No, No, we haven't because there's so much upside for
us if it went through.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Okay, so you guys have never tried to make sure
that the pressures stay in NFA.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
No, there's just too much upside.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
I mean, that's why we've always diversified our business model
where we have manufacturer, which I gets super unique. I mean,
we're the largest dealer in the country. We're also a manufacturer.
That's super unique. But that's the way we've always done it.
Just in case Hearing Protection Act goes through, and or
when it goes through.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Are you working for the passage of HPA? And if
you are, what are you doing for that?

Speaker 3 (12:32):
You know, it's funny.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
I got a call from my congressman on Friday morning
and he said that, you know, the Freedom Caucus right
now is pushing really hard for Dairy Protection Act, and
he was just kind of touching base on me with
some of the you know stuff in the news, and
I was like, yeah, we're one hundred percent for it,
you know, we'd.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Love to see that.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
Because the House bill still hasn't been finalized, it's still
all very much in flux. I mean, I honestly, I
was surprised when I saw this week that it came
out to be a zero tax, because I not heard
anyone propose that. What I had heard proposed was that
the houseways the Means Committee, would come out with a
Hearing Protection Act and then let them figure it out

(13:09):
the Senate. So if the Senate somehow if it got
cut out of there from the bird rule, then they
would have to come back to the House. The House
could then add what we were talking about, maybe getting
rid of the two hundred dollars tax being you know, zero,
and then it would go back to the Senate and
then they.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Agree on it.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
So we were completely caught off guard when it didn't
start with Hearing Protection Act, ause we figured that's what
the Congress would do, and they may still do, all.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Right, Brandon Maddox so in the minute or so we
got left here. This has been a huge blow up.
We've got people gun owners, gun groups calling for boycotting
Silence or Central. They want to destroy your company, the
company that actually has made it easier for a lot
of people to get silencers and suppressures through the years.
You now have a chance right here to talk to

(13:54):
all of them. What do you want to tell them?

Speaker 4 (13:57):
You know, I would say, just review the facts and
you know, dig into them yourself and see that you know,
what you're reading is there's people that have agendas there,
you know. And then I think my dad used to
always say follow the money. I mean, we're the largest
manufacturer of silencers in the country. We clearly benefit if
the Hearing Protection Act goes through. So again I would say,

(14:19):
give us another look, and you know, give us a
fair shot and realize that sometimes when you read things
online or you see videos, people are trying to drive
you know, membership or fundraising or clickbait or whatever, they
may not have the best interests for even the consumers
in mind.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
I'd say that's the main points.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Well, fair enough. Again, I appreciate you coming on. I
know that you've been hammered over the last few days.
It's been a whirlwind of activity, and I wanted to
give you as a complete and open chance to address it.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Okay, well, I appreciate the opportunity.

Speaker 2 (14:54):

Hey guys, Max Michelle here, captain of the SIGs hour
Shooting Team. I just wanted to take a moment to
congratulate Tom on hitting thirty years on the air with
gun Talk. It's an incredible accomplishment and well deserved. Tom
has always brought us the information that we wanted and
needed to know as it relates to the Second Amendment
or a gun enthusiast or anyone out there that's carying
to protect our loved ones and our great nation. So Tom,

(17:27):
we thank you for these last thirty years and we
look forward to thirty more.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Buddy, all right with you again? Just started that interesting interview.
I actually recorded that a couple of days ago, interview
with Brandon Maddox. He's the CEO of Silence or Central
and by the way, e lij Ropa. Now, if you've
got a comment, a question, you think he was lying,
you think I was not tough enough, whatever had mattered,

(17:54):
well lies Ropen. You know the deal. I will take
your call. As long as we're still to each other,
we'll have a conversation. You do not, by any means
ever have to agree with me on anything. Okay, Number
here is eight sixty six Talk Gun or Tom Talk Gun.
Gave me a hollered, Get in line. Let's have the conversation. Okay,

(18:14):
So what's my take on this? I gotta remember I
come to this from a long, long, long history of
working in gun rights fifty plus years now. I was
debating the Dodd Bill before it became the Gun Control
Act of nineteen sixty eight. Back when I was in
high school, I worked at the NRA. I've worked well

(18:36):
most of the gun magazines. I've written about gun rights forever,
and then of course thirty years of doing this on
radio talking about it, having watched the propensity for some
people in the gun world to turn on each other,
to find somebody to destroy this weeks a lot of that,

(19:03):
the Zombo effect. Oh you said something we disagree with,
we will destroy you, we will brand you a traitor.
And now things are changed a bit because now there's
actually money to be made and doing that, what do
I mean? Look, if you are the quote unquote influencer

(19:24):
and you have a YouTube channel or a channel anywhere online,
you make money by getting more traffic, by having more
people there. And as Richard Mann said a couple of
days ago talking about this very subject with soncra Century,
he says, look, you know the only way you make

(19:45):
a lot of money, or you generate a lot of
traffic by talking about boobs, or you could generate it
by read generating controversy and the idea of being that, look,
the more controversy you create, the more traffic you get,
the more money you make. There is most certainly some
of that here. There's also people who simply are always

(20:06):
looking for a boogeyman and they don't want to be
dissuaded from that. And I see people online posting, well,
they said they're supporting, you know, legislation about suppressors. Said, well, actually,
if you look at the report, it says supporting conservation
on the tax stamp conservation efforts, as Brandon said, trying

(20:29):
to take this money that's been going into the general
fund and using that to build shooting ranges through the
Pittman Robertson Act. Here's the deal. I do I know
for sure what they actually did now, I don't. I don't.

(20:49):
I only know what he said. I have known Brandon
for a while. He has been an advertiser here in
the past. I think they may be starting again. I'm
not sure, don't. Weirdly enough, I don't actually know who's
advertising sometimes. I know that he was probably the one
responsible for getting the wait times down from a year

(21:10):
down to days. I know that he probably did most
of the work on that that was a good thing.
Now it's up to you to figure out where do
you follow on this? Does that pass the mail test?
Does it make sense what he said and what you're
hearing when you look at who's saying what, what's in

(21:34):
it for them? Are they generating traffic through controversy? Are
they leaving out information? Does it make sense that he says, Hey,
we're going to sell a lot of suppressors if we
can get the Hearing Protection Act passed, and we really
don't care that much about the silence or central thing.
We can give that up to make money on the
other side. Eight six' Six Talk gun Or Tom Talk.

(21:54):
Gun now it's your. Turn you have the. Floor, well, well,
well lots of thanks for us to talk. About, Hey
I'm Tom gresham and this is Gun. Talk if you
want to join, us give me a call It Tom Talk.
Gun pretty easy to remember. THAT a little bit later
in the show today we're gonna be talking about some

(22:14):
cool scope rifle. Scopes, ALSO i was gonna say, antique
that's not, right obsolete rifle cartridges and why some of
us choose to hunt with weird stuff and we. Do, also,
yeah you can buy us governments surplus rifles and pistols

(22:35):
and how you do. That, also we're talking about one
of the toughest, competitions pistol, competitions coming up this. WEEK
a lot of things going, on but of course there's
always we'll take your, calls, comments, questions if you've got
something on your. Mind it's always open lines and we're
always looking for range. Reports we just had this interview
With Brandon maddox From silence Or, central and online people are, saying,

(22:59):
yeah you, know they should go out of. BUSINESS i
hope they go bankrupt for what they. Did of COURSE
i want to, say, well what do you think they? Did?
WELL i read about it on the, internet and the
internet's always, right, right, yeah sometimes sometimes not pretty much

(23:20):
always actually slowing, down get a little time between something
that is designed think about this designed to make you.
Angry these posts are designed to make you, angry designed
to get you all fired up to go after. Somebody

(23:42):
AND i know no one wants to think they're being
played or manipulated or being, used but come, on look
at it, realistically who's saying this? Stuff why are they saying?
It what do they WANT i want you to? Do
are you falling into. It are you just buying into?

(24:03):
It did? You did you listen to the? INTERVIEW i
am really. Curious it's people's reaction and LIKE i, say,
LOOK i can't say THAT i know what the truth.
IS i don't know that we intervit ever knows the
truth about. Anything but on this, ONE i you, know

(24:26):
there's the smell. Test you, go does this smell? Right?
Yeah it probably. Does what he's saying that makes some
sense to.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
Me and.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Believe, me IF i didn't think, SO i would sure tell.
You if it turns Out i'm, Wrong i'll tell you that, Too,
Okay but at this, point what he's saying makes sense to.
Me one of the problems is that we got these
internet influencers that are screaming and hollering and riling people.

(24:57):
Up if it to pass that we find out That
silence Or central didn't do anything wrong and THEIR, Ceo Brandon,
maddox was in fact telling the, truth none of these
so called influencers will be, apologizing none of them will

(25:19):
take responsibility for their. Actions they will all hide behind,
WELL i was just going with the information we had
at the. Time come, on don't know WHAT'S, CNNBC, abc
the fake news people, do And, Yeah i'm gonna really
really make them all mad with, this and they're, gonna

(25:40):
you know what they're gonna. Do it wouldn't be the
first time they're gonna try to destroy. Me they're gonna
go after my advertisers and, sponsors the people who keep
gun talk on the. Air i've seen it. Before had
the weirdest thing happened several years ago on the air
fifteen dot. COMIC i posted something and he, Said Tom

(26:01):
gresham said blah blah blah blah blah, blah all this
stuff about HOW i was basically anti gun and you
can't believe the. Reaction he was, immediate, visceral, viral scorched
earth people warning to take me off the, air go after,
me you, know cancel, me get rid of all my.

(26:23):
Advertisers of, course the only problem was THAT i didn't
say any of, that and the guy posted. Anonymously he
has a lot of, cowards DO i generally used my
real name WHEN i post. Online almost no one. Does
BUT i was able to find the. GUY i tracked him.
Down he was a lawyer In, houston AND i contacted.

(26:47):
HIM i, said what is this thing you? Saying he, Said,
OH i just thought that'd be kind of interesting to
put that out. THERE i, said you made it. Up he, said,
yeah it's not be interesting to put that out there
and see what. Happens, HUH i, said yested that if
he wants to Play Russian roulette with a, business he
does it with his own. Business but it was a

(27:07):
great example of how a lot of people on the
gun side of things don't look at the, details don't
look at the, information don't try to find out what
was really going on in our strangely eager to believe
the worst about people within our own, industry within our own,

(27:30):
culture within Our Second amendment. CULTURE i don't know if
people are just prime to think that someone is going
to betray, them or actually maybe it's more of a
case of you often can make yourself appear bigger by
taking down. Someone you knock somebody, down it makes you

(27:51):
appear to be taller and. Bigger The River Junior. High
that's what was done all the time. There it's a
weird psychology that goes. On so at any, rate here's the.
Deal to my, Knowledge silence Or central has not done
any interviews on. This this is the only interview they've,
done they, said we will come on gun. Talk brandon.

(28:14):
Did then he told, me he, says you, know MY
pr people did not want me to do, this so
really they, said, yeah they were really nervous about. This
they didn't want me to do. This AND i told,
HIM i, SAID i think it's smart for you to do.
IT i think you need to get out ahead of.
This you need to tell your story and then see
what all. Happens but right now only one side of
the story is getting. Told and if all you do

(28:36):
is put out a pressure release and you don't actually
talk about, IT i don't know that people are going
to believe. You So i'm glad he came on. Here
i'm glad he had the vote of confidence for what
we do. HERE i hope that you think it was.
WORTHWHILE i tried to do the best JOB i. Could
on asking pointed, questions you, know have you ever worked

(28:59):
again it's the passage of The Hearing Protection? Act he said.
NO i, said have your lobbyist ever worked to try
to defeat The Hearing Protection act to keep silencers on
THE nfa to require people to have to go through
all the. Process he, says, no our lobbyists have never
worked on. THAT i, MEAN i put it out there.
STRAIGHT i just asked the questions AND i shut up

(29:19):
and let him. Answer so there it is all. Right
now it is time for, us you and me to
talk about guns and cool stuff and pretty much anything
else it's on your. Mind we are open lines here
on Gun. Talk give me a call That Tom talk.
Gun I'm Tom, gresham and, yep this is gun.

Speaker 9 (29:35):
Talk, Sure savage major grandpa's, gun but these. Aren't. Is through,
innovation tech and, Power savage redefine just how accurate an
affordable rifle should. Be savage forced the entire industry to

(29:56):
try to catch, up and they're still. Trying bolt, action
straight semi, auto lever action, rifles shotguns left, handed from
classic nineteen eleven to long range rifles definitely nuts your Grandpa's.
Savage Savage arms Dot com established in nineteen ninety, Four

(30:16):
Crimson trace quickly became the premier laser site provider for
personal defense, firearms helping you protect all that matters. Most
building on this, legacy we have worked hard to provide
the most, versatile, reliable and intuitive, products which now includes
a full line of red dot sites rifle, scopes tactical

(30:37):
lights and range. Finders why crimson trace because legacy.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Matters put all your gear on that you carry and
then roll around on the. Ground, now get up all
your gear that's on the. Ground that's what you're not
going to have in a.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Fight Gun talk should be in your podcast. Feed check
out Gun Talk. Nation what's it like to be blown?
Up you, know if it's LIKE c, four it's almost
like a smack. Hunting, yeah we talk about that. Too
on your cross, HAIRS i like a thin cross hair.
Agent you're really dating yourself by calling things cross. Hairs
you're redical. Whatever have some fun and stay informed with

(31:12):
the Gun talk.

Speaker 10 (31:13):
Podcast Black Hills amo is now loading a three HUNDRED
prc round with a HIGH Bc hornity two twenty five
GRAIN eld match. Projectile the three HUNDRED prc design eliminated
the unnecessary belt of the three Hundred winchester magnum and
increased the body. Diameter the result is increased powder capacity
and a nearly one hundred and fifty feet per second
velocity increase to twenty eight hundred. Fps the three HUNDRED

(31:36):
prc two twenty FIVE eld match provides superior capability on distant,
targets black, hills, ammunition the power of.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Performance you, know these commercial breaks are not nearly long
enough BECAUSE i go shopping online during the. Break SOMETIMES

(32:04):
i will put a bid in on a. Gun so
BUT i got cut off this, time so maybe it'll
be there WHEN i come. Back welcome. Back I'm Tom.
Gresher we're talking about guns around. Here glenn called in
online five out Of Aurora. Collar, Hey, glenn what's are
on your? Mind?

Speaker 11 (32:18):
Sir i've always wondered if there's any risk at, all
even a small, one when you're loading a lever action,
rifle a side, LOADING i should, Say and WHAT i
mean specifically is is when you when you're pushing, in
say a second bullet in the side, load that second
bullet's actually you, know pushing or coming really close to

(32:41):
the primer of the preceding. Bullet it's always in the
back of my. MIND i never heard an accent like,
This but is there any risk at all of you,
know contacting that primer hard enough.

Speaker 9 (32:50):
We would go?

Speaker 2 (32:50):
OFF i would like to just say. NO i, mean
obviously there's a risk at, everything but in this, CASE
i have never heard of. It it is one of
the reasons now why most lever action cartridges have round
nose bullets or flat nosed bullets so that you're not

(33:10):
pushing a really sharp pointed bullet into the primer of
the cartridge in front of. It but it's not even
during the loading. Process that's really because of when they
get stacked up in the tubular magazine and it's spring
loaded in there and you're shooting, it and these, cartridges
believe or, not in the two mag, tube they're bouncing
back and forth against the. Spring so if you had
a really hard pointed bullet and a primer sitting on

(33:33):
top of that, point that could possibly. Happen but as
long as you're using round noose bullets or flat nose,
bullets it's not a. Problem or and then this is
Why horned you came up with their concept they call
the lever. Evolution they use pointed, bullets but with pretty
soft polymer or plastic tips on the, bullets so they're

(33:54):
so soft they can't make a primer go off in
the magazine. Tube what rifle are you?

Speaker 11 (34:01):
USING i got A smith And west in eighteen fifty
four and forty four Magh.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
No worries at? All, yeah, no, there you're not gonna
be using any pointy bullets into forty four, magnum so
you're absolutely gonna be okay with.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
That, okay how do you like that?

Speaker 11 (34:17):
Gun by the, Way, YEAH i just GOT i haven't
shot it, yet So i'm Thinking i'm gonna like.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
It.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
YEAH i shot, ONE i guess twice now in forty
four and also in three fifty. Seven, slick, slick. SLICK
i like. That of. COURSE i like leverection rifles and handgun.
CARTRIDGES i just think they're like the perfect commendation and pure. Fun,
sorry one other question for. You what's your? Plan you

(34:45):
got to use it for, hunting for goof and off
or or what?

Speaker 3 (34:50):
Both?

Speaker 11 (34:50):
Yes and yes hunting and just so all.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Right sounds, Good you'll be, fine have fun with, it
just have a good.

Speaker 11 (34:58):
Time let me ask you this since you mentioned, that
and THEN i do Have marlin thirty thirty as. Well
i've had that for a long. Time we haven't shot
it for a, while but obviously that's using a more
pointed bullet.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Still not an. Issue those are almost all round those,
bullets and BUT i it's just, HONESTLY i would not
worry about that at. ALL i just don't think it's
going to be an.

Speaker 11 (35:18):
Issue, okay thank you so.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
Much all, right.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Appreciate the, call. Sir, yeah lever actions fun. Stuff here's
the thought for. You have you shot have you ever?
Had maybe you still have? It if you, DO i
bet it's in the back of the safe and you
haven't shot it for. YEARS a lever action rifle in
twenty two rim, fire because to, me that is one

(35:42):
of the most fun guns you can. Shoot the Old
marlin was a thirty nine model for a NINE i
think it Was winchester model ninety four to twenty. Two
great great fun lever action. Rifles and you know they're
still out, there and actually we've got some new, ones Said. Savage,
YES i Think savage has a lever action rim fire.

(36:02):
Now just a great way to spend almost no money
and have. Fun every time you bring one, out everybody
with you wants to shoot. It they just they look.
Cool there's no. Recoil oh, yeah and if you want
to get kind of weird to, GOOFY i think it's,

(36:25):
goofy but it's still. Fun now a number of them
are coming with threaded, barrels so you put a suppressor on.
There and because it's a in essence a fixed, breach
unlike a semi, auto where the action opens up and
when the action opens you get gases coming out and

(36:47):
the sound can come out that. Way but on a bolt,
action a pump or a lever, action obviously a single,
shot the action stays closed while you're shooting, it and
so all of the gases go out the barrel and
out the muscle into the. Suppressor so now the suppressor's
actually able to work and make the experience even. Quieter

(37:09):
so when you put a can on a lever, action
be it a tenty's rim fire or one of the
pistol caliber, cartridges the thirty eight, special forty, four particularly
forty Four, special because some of the forty four magnum
and three fifty seven magnum rounds are going to go
supersonic faster than eleven hundred fet per, second but if

(37:31):
you're slower than, that they're crazy. Quiet it's kind of
like the nine millimeter. Carbings there are a lot of
those out, now and if you're shooting one hundred and
forty seven grain SUBSONIC ammo in them and you put
a can on, them they're stunningly, quiet even if they're semi,
auto pretty neat, deal just just fun. Stuff so part

(37:55):
of the whole idea of suppressors being. Fun, yes if
we can get The Herring Protection act passed as part
of the reconciliation bill that just hung up in The
house right, now don't know what's going to. Happen there's
a real battle going on this particular weekend right now
as we're speaking to see if we can get that.
Done if that could come out and we can obviously

(38:15):
get suppressures taken out OF, nfa The National Firems, act
then a lot more people are going to buy. Them
the prices probably come, down certainly getting rid of the
two hundred dollars tacks with, help but also you'd be
able to go into a store and buy. THEM i
Hope i've got my fingers. CROSSED i hope that's what.
Happens that would be. Amazing, okay here's the question for.
You would you buy one then if there were no

(38:38):
federal requirements for registration and all of. That all, Day
i'll just talk about this during the. Break check my
email and there's the idea from Gun brooker one of
my Items i'm. Watching i'm gonna share this with you
because somebody out to grab. This it is a left

(39:02):
Handed savage access to Seventy winchester with a scope currently
at one hundred seventy five. Bucks it's got to time
out at the end of the day to. Day so
if you're listening to this, live if you're a, lefty
it's actually being sold By Dury's. GUNS i didn't realize,
that but on Gun Broker Savage access left handed two
Seventy Duris, guns or you can go To durisguns dot.

(39:23):
Com that's a smoking. Deal one hundred and seventy five
bucks for this rifle and a. Scope, yeah, yeah, YEAH
i don't CAN i dare say THE n? WORD i
don't need. That but that's a whole different. Thing let's
go To casey on line two out Of, Medford. Oregon Hey,
casey what in the world this sounds like a good.

Speaker 12 (39:40):
Story good, morning. SIR i wanted to give a shout
out to a gentleman Named Daniel armstrong In, Fairbanks, Alaska
So remington seven. Hundreds the bolt handle is actually silver
soldered onto the bolt body, right AND i don't think
you've ever done, it but you probably have seen. It

(40:01):

as it, were and the bolt hailer comes off in your.

Speaker 2 (40:06):

knowledge of ever that.

Speaker 12 (40:11):

cases within a.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Week oh, wow, yeah.

Speaker 12 (41:14):
Outstanding and you don't have to send your. Action if
you follow his instructions to the, letter send them your.
Bolt it comes. Back and it's ALL i can say
is he is the guru of.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
Gats isn't it fun to work with someone who is
just brilliant at that kind of?

Speaker 12 (41:33):
Skill he is JUST i actually take my bolt apart
on a hunting trip and pull the shroud off just
to show somebody the dig well that he, did and they're, like,
oh My, lanta that is. Beautiful, yep it's.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Perfect, YEAH i hear. You, well there you. GO i
appreciate the, call, sir and congrats on getting that thing.
Fixed so there you. Go there are people out there
who are and what they do just. Masterful i've got a,
gunsmith actually an elite rifle works right there In, Nampa,

(42:11):
idaho and they just do wonderful. Work and it's amazing
to me when you take it to somebody like and
they're all over the, country these, gunsmiths rifle smith who
can take your rifle and accurize, it blueprint, it threw
it up and it comes back in its shooting groups

(42:33):
half the size that they were shooting, before and it's
smooth as, butter and it's, like oh. Wow you, know
if you haven't experienced, that you don't actually know what
the improvement can. Be you don't understand how good your
rifle can, be how smooth it can, be how well
it can. Work SO i would encourage you if you
can find somebody in your, area ask. Around you may

(42:56):
get some work. Done but once you, do it's, like oh,
