Be, all right, Rob, We started off talking about the
Chris Paul to the Warriors trade, but as I said
at the top of the show, that's not the only
move that was made in the NBA this week, and
obviously tonight is the draft, so there could be more moves.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
Right right now, right the Spurs are on the clock.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
So we just I wonder who there take?

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Uh, they're gonna draft up Bill Walton. I'm sorry, Yes.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Well, well we're gonna get to Victor winm Banyama because
they are going to draft.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Man, you got did you pay this crowd?

Speaker 4 (02:22):
All these jokes that I'm here for, like the four

you know, like they know I know what I'm doing.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
I'm gonna tell y'all, y'all go here about the Louisiana purchase.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Something The first oh he ownered in the Louisiana Purchase.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Last guy he did something was Moby Dick was a guppy, y'all.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Don't hear that one?

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Chocolate chips.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
That's a good one too.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Chocolate chips.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
That the new Team Cup movie a show coming out
that Actually I really liked that.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
But Rob the Celtics, who we know?

Speaker 4 (03:09):
They I don't know what they have to do to
not be the favorite because last year, even as they
struggled against Miami and didn't look good against Atlanta and
Philly had them down three to two, they still were
always like the favorite to win the championship. And now
obviously they didn't. They weren't the favorite after they didn't
make the finals. But now they made this trade that

(03:33):
they lose Marcus Smart, they bring in Chris STAPs, Forward
Zingis and they're the favorites again in the whole league,
not just the East. So what do you make of
this trade? Do you think they got better? They got
worse or what.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
This This is one of those hard ones, Chris.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Because Porzingis, I understand why they would want him to
add to the team, But Marcus smart and I think
sometimes we look at teams and they're what you call
the glue guy or the guy who holds the team
together and he does all the dirty work and he
does all that stuff.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Those are like Bruce Brown right.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
For Denver, like he was a big part of their
team and then winning. And I think you gotta be
real careful when you take one of those guys out
of the mix. It's not like and maybe somebody else
can be that guy or take that role. But he
was definitely a big part of the Celtics, whether he's
scoring points or you know what I mean, or a top.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Score or not.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
Guys like that matter.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
We saw with the Phoenix Suns right when they got
Kevin Durant. Oh, they're the favorites to come out of
the West, and then you realize the bench was thin
and there was nothing else there, and that's why teams.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Don't always win. You need people like that.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
So I on paper with Porzingis and you look at him, Chris,
do you look and say, year they're better, yes, but
I really don't know if they're better in the locker
room and the camaraderie and the and the way that
they interact with everybody. I think they lost a piece,
a little piece of them, and I don't know if

(05:14):
those pieces are going to fit the same. I don't
no matter what Vegas says, is that what you're saying, right,
I don't feel like they're where they were as far
as before, where I thought for sure at some point
right like I thought that they had a real shot.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
I don't feel that way about the Celtics anymore.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
I think this trade makes them the favorite in the
East right now, because we don't know what Milwaukee's gonna
look like. They might lose Brook Lopez, who was a
huge part of their defense.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Chris Middleton opted out. I think you'll go back, but we.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
You know, we don't know if maybe they need to
do something else because Chris Middleton. I get it, they
won that one championship, but Chris, he's been hurt a
lot of knee surgery just a few weeks ago, like
a minor one, but still still you just you can't well,
I hear you, and I think if they bring him back.
It'll be like a longer term deal but less money
per year. He's supposed to get forty million next year.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
But to your.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Point, yeah, I would be skittish to bring him back.
The only thing is who am I replacing? And that's
the key. If they can find a guy that's as good,
if not better, then I'd go that route. But I
would not right now. I think it looks like they
got to bring him back. But as far as the selfis,
I hear you on Marcus Martin. I think you're right. However,

(06:35):
they do have Al Horford who's still there and Rob.
I think Marcus mart was very good for them. He
was that voice. But I think him moving on or
being shipped out will allow Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown
now kind of to become the leaders at all.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
Are that type.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
I think Brown, I mean, Tatum is their best.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Player, I think, right I think Brown will be more
like he's a strong leader. I think I think he
can kind of take that role on. And again, I mean,
al Horford is still gonna be the vocal guy, but
I think the others, you know, I think they can
get past Marcus smart Look, Derek White will presumably take

(07:21):
his starting role, and White is at this point a
better player, Like he shoots the three better, he's a
better defender. He's the one that made All Defensive Team
last year, not Marcus Smart. So I think Derek White,
and remember how good he was in the playoffs against Miami.
He saved them a couple of times, so I think
they feel good about that, and poor zingis looked. Obviously,

(07:44):
there's always the question of health with Chris STAPs Porzingis,
but rob if he is healthy, and I'm talking about
sixty sixty five games. He shoots the three, which is
huge for them having a big that can shoot the three.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
He can post up.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
He's one of the most efficient post scorers in the NBA,
so that they had nobody that could post up last
year for the most part, So now he gives them
that element. And then even though he's not what you
call a great defender, he is a rim protector. He
block shots because he's seventy to three and if you
put you can play him next to Robert Williams the third,

(08:20):
and if they go with that lineup with Williams the
third and Parzingis, it's gonna be hard for teams to
score on them. So I do think, and you're right,
it's on paper, but I do think on paper they
got better. I'm not ready to put them ahead of Denver,
but if you want to say, well, it's hard to
repeat who else besides Denver, I think they're right there

(08:42):
with anybody else. I don't know that they're ahead of
the other contenders like the Lakers or the Bucks or
the Suns, and teams like the Clippers if they were healthy,
but they're they're as good a bet as anyone after Denver.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
I think to be the best team in the league.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
All right, I mean that's fair, I mean on paper especially, right,
But I just sometimes you lose something and and it
could just alter a little something, Chris, you know what
I mean, just a little and maybe those guys step up,
as you say, and maybe Tatum isn't going to birthday
parties during the season, and it changes, uh, you know,

(09:19):
the role of being a leader, and maybe that makes
them step up to be a leader.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
It could, right, right, I mean, I do think those
guys are younger. Marcus Smart was in trench there already.
He's a good player, he's a strong personality. Sometimes it
can be tough to take that away from him, you
know what I mean, you can settle in like, Okay, yeah,
we're the best players.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
But he's a good leader. You know, we're a good team.
We don't have to rock the boat.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
And so that's the question, like are they true leaders
talking about Brown and Tatum or will you know, will
they not take that mantle? And if if one of
them can't take that mantle, then that could be a problem.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
I still wonder if.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
They can win together, you know, I mean, they're too
talented young guys.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
You know, do you premature You don't want to prematurely break.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Up attended like that, And I get it, Chris, but
they've had their moments where it doesn't look like, you know,
things haven't worked out. So I just wonder it's just
it's because they have to sign those guys right after.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
Well Brown, he's eligible for the max extent, the super
Max actually got another year. Okay, So but I'm just saying, yeah,
those two guys are gonna get a lot of money.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Well, let me ask you this.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
And we've heard his name all over the place, and
I think tonight and I don't know where they're at
in the draft yet.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
But I don't think Portland.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
The first pick is in Victor win Bayama. Portland I
think is gonna use the third pick to take either
Scoot Henderson or Brandon Miller. That's not going to be
enough to make Damien little happily happy understan And so
would you trade, if you're Boston Jalen Brown for Damian Lillard?

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Yes, you would. I would too. I would.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
I wouldn't man, I definitely would if I'm Portland because
Brown would be their star and he fits in with
the age.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
I would do that.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
I would do that because Derek White is, you get
You're still good defensively, even though Lillard's not a great defender,
Derek White is and so is Tatum.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
So you bring in another score, you make up for
the point.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
And and you get a different look or a different mix,
you know what I mean. Like I think sometimes you
need after you've had something and you haven't gotten there,
like you just can't keep doing the same thing. And
I'm not saying like they can't give it another shot
or a year or so. But if I had that
opportunity to get a guy who we've seen make big
shots and big moments in big playoff games.

Speaker 5 (11:50):
Chris, it's not like you're losing anything.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Right, You're Offensively, you're not anything.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
You get the top Defensively, I think you got enough
good defenders elsewhere where you can make up for it.
And I think, look, don't shed any tears for Jalen
Brown if that were to happen, because now he's got
his own team and he's paying yup, yup, So I
think that's something. Look if Damian Liller hissed the market,
I mean Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, all these teams I think

(12:18):
should be and will be interested. So we will see
what happens with that. All right, it is the Odd Couple,
Chris and Rob. It's a TV theme song Thursday. As
I've said, we are live from two seventy five parks,
so you guys, we will hear from some of the
studio audience.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
You'll be able to make comments. The question is, we
want to know what do you think about the Chris
STAPs or Zingis trade to the Celtics. Does this make
them better, worse or do they pretty much stay the same.

five part in Brooklyn, the New Comedy Club taking comments
from the studio audience.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
So let's start here. What is your name and where'd
you come from?

Speaker 6 (14:12):
My name is Charles.

Speaker 7 (14:13):
I come from Greenwich, Connecticut.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Okay, good to have you here, man, Thank you.

Speaker 7 (14:17):
I'm excited to be on my question here about Kristaps trade. Really,
it seems to me like this is almost a desperation
attempt hail Mary to get more offense, trade that defensive
player away.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
Is this really what they needed?

Speaker 7 (14:30):
I mean, it seems like the Stars let them down
in that game more than anything else.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Yeah, I don't think it's desperation, but that's fair. Though,
that's fair.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
They seem to be kind of doubling down on the offense,
Like Joe Missoula was more offensive minded than email Udoka,
and I thought that hurt them.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
So this is an offensive move. You added another twenty
point score, right.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
But he gives them different offensive looks than they're used
to get there and Chris brow attempts, they're gonna have
more of those because he's good at that. That was
something they sorely lacked. And just because of his size,
he does help you defensively, even though he's not a
great defender, especially if you're looking in the West and
you're saying that the Joker could be who you could

(15:13):
face in the finals, so at least you have a
big body.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Do you know what I mean? Like, I really think
that that has to be part of that there every time.
Anthony Davis. That's another one. But I'm saying, if you're
thinking about winning a championship and you're looking at the
joker and you don't have a big dude to do
some battle with him, how are you gonna beat them?
I don't think you're gonna beat them. Thanks for all right,
it comes up. It comes up Chris. Here, it comes

(15:38):
a frequent caller to the Odd Couple.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
Oh yeah, I know he gonna be talking some mess.
He always called up trying to mess with a brother.
All right, who, what's your name? And where you're from?

Speaker 8 (15:51):
York City.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
I'm sure everybody recognizes your voice. Yo, it's great to
meet you man. Good to be the face with the voice.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
You are nicer and kinder than you sound. So you
know we're talking some.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
But he always right, you know, Hey, Chris with the
hat on. I thought he was here to pick me
up with the cabs.

Speaker 7 (16:14):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 8 (16:15):
I'm just saying, Wow, worsting me already.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
And I got to say this, Chris. You can see a.

Speaker 8 (16:24):
Couple is large dumb below in the tristate area.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
That's right, that's right.

Speaker 8 (16:30):
But on this trade I'm here, I feel like, you know,
they're actually risking or losing their identity in the defense
and doubling down on offense. I mean, I feel like
KP gives them like a new dimension, Like when you
think about two bigs like al Horford and christap back
in stretch the floor and now he opens up like

(16:52):
lanes for like JB and JT to drive to the
basket one on one and square at will.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
So that's good. But again, as soon as you injure
one of.

Speaker 8 (17:02):
Them, than everything everything is you know, pretty much lost.
So it's a big risk.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
He's a bus from what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
But y'all, y'all talking like Marcus Smart was freaking Scotty.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
I hear you.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
He's a nice it was. I like the glue more
than the game. Does that make sense, you know what
I mean? The glue of him Christ And I'm not
saying he can't play, but there's.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
A glue fly. But he was definitely one of their leaders,
no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Remember he's the guy that said, don't let us get
one and they went out.

Speaker 6 (17:35):
And got three.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
All right, what's your name and where you're from.

Speaker 9 (17:41):
Hey, my name is Stephen, ten minutes away, Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Okay, welcome brother, Glad you came out.

Speaker 9 (17:48):
I just feel like, uh coming real quick. H Marcus
Smart was like the hard and soul of their team,
and he was like a really great, great role player
and like he was very committed. The man even dyed
his hair green. I mean, you can't get more committed
than that. Yeah, So I think they're gonna miss him.
And I think what he's gonna do in Memphis, I
hope it's like a Tony Allen culture down there. What

(18:08):
he brings down there.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Well, that's that's that's something. Uh and angle we happened.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
I liked.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
I liked that comment too, because because you know what,
Tony Allen was a great guy like that, Chris and
maybe yes came into the studio in LA with us,
and you're right, for John might be the guy that
they might need to, you know what I mean, help
help him along and get this guy on the right track.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
So that is a really good point.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
If Memphis, I hate to lose Tony or Tias Jones.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Tias Jones was.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
The really widely regarded as the best backup point guard
in the league. Uh so that's a big loss. He
average sixteen points eight assist when he started. And remember
John's gonna be out the first twenty five games, right,
But I do think Marcus smartest better and he brings
them some leadership that they needed.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Right with that team, no doubt about it. We got
somebody else.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
All right? What's your name and where you from? Justin
from Long Island? Okay, strong, guys, strong, Great to have
you here, man.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
Thanks, I appreciate you, appreciate you.

Speaker 10 (19:12):
I really don't have a comment, but I wanted to
ask about the Sixers. If I can't since they're in the.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Same division, we'll let it slide.

Speaker 10 (19:19):
Okay, okay, So you're a Sixers fan, I am, yeah,
I'm sorry, but Julius.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Well, y'all, ain't one is this? Doctor j What's a guppy?
Did I get that right?

Speaker 10 (19:32):
Now?

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Eighty three? Doctor J? M.

Speaker 5 (19:34):
Moseslove?

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Were you even born?

Speaker 8 (19:36):
Then?

Speaker 3 (19:36):
It's tough man, tough all right? What you got?

Speaker 5 (19:40):
Well?

Speaker 10 (19:40):
Since Smoker Smart is out, you know James Harden might
be coming back.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
So does it have anything hard and back with the
with the Sixers.

Speaker 6 (19:49):
I'm hearing that.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Look, if I'm feeling down, here's I'm gonna takes.

Speaker 5 (19:54):
He's asking this is Philly's still gonna be in the mix?
Is that what you're saying? Like to compete?

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Oh, like to win the East?

Speaker 6 (20:00):
I don't know this is.

Speaker 10 (20:01):
Really that much of a factor with the with the Celtics.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
So you I still think Boston is better than Philadelphia. Yeah,
but here's what I would do if I'm the Sixers,
and I bet you liked me, give me your opinion
after I say this.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
If I'm Philadelphia, I'm.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Offering ty Tyrese, Maxi, and Tobias hair Sup Portland for Damian.

Speaker 10 (20:24):
Look, okay, to do that. See when we had Thabo
that was better. I would have made that possible. But
I don't want to give up Maxie.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
I hear you. But I mean to get a guy
like Damian Lillard, you have to.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
You always got to remember in trades, you gotta give
to and a lot of guy like that, and a
lot of people like fans, always want to give. Let's
give the last four guys on the bench and we'll
take this start.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
It don't work like that.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
What trade is that?

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Exactly?

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Hey, guys, good questions and comments. Man, we appreciate you
guys coming down.

Speaker 5 (20:55):
Definitely.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
We have one more session coming.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Brandon Miller, is you you stated during the break he
went second to Charlotte. That's Michael Jordan's might be his
last pick, you know, with the Charlotte hornet another.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
I'm kidding.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Look, I was very just dismayed by what I saw
from him in the n C DOUAA tournament. But the
game was scored, no points, points, nine points in another game.
But he does play, and he's Look, I've ever met
a Paul George fan like him. This brother talking about
Paul George is his goat and all that, and but

(21:34):
he does you can see that he patterned his game
after Paul George. He's long, he can shoot, he can
make plays, he's athletic, he can handle the ball. And
I think Charlotte I'm not gonna poople this pick because
they have LaMelo ball and we know that Portland had
Clyde JRECX, so that's why they didn't take Michael Jordan.

(21:56):
I don't think Scoop Henderson's gonna be Michael Jordan. So right,
I got my point guard in LaMelo, and now I've
got a swing man who we could be great in
Brandon Miller. So I'm good with it. We'll see how
it pans out. But we'll get to that a little
bit later, Rob. But coming up at the break. At
the next the next segment, we have an interview with

(22:20):
seven Complete, who is an EMC who is competing in
a national hip hop battle here in New York City.

Speaker 5 (22:28):
And this is the fifth Morrow. It's the fiftieth anniversary
of hip hop.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Which I can't believe I still talk about it.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
I still remember I told you this just a million times.
With the Sugarhill Gang being in, I had my boombox
on the dresser and the Sugarhill Gang's.

Speaker 5 (22:49):
Rappers.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
The light came on, and I swear to you, I'm
not lying. I called for my youngest sister, who passed
now Robin, my youngest sister, and I yelled out, Rob
and Robin, come in the room, come here, listen to this.

Speaker 5 (23:04):
That's like how much it was different from anything I'd
ever heard on the radio.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
And so here's my sister and I and we're just
staring at the boom box on the dresser listening to
rappers delight, like what is this?

Speaker 3 (23:18):
It was massive? I had a similar experience. Yeah, I
never heard anything like that.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
I never heard.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
I was like, what is the rest is history? Man,
It's really changed the world.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
So we will talk to seven complete and MC who
is here in New York to compete in a national
rap bat battle, and we'll get we'll ask him all
about that that's coming up.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
But first Steve the Seger with the update Steve.

Speaker 11 (23:40):
Steve coming up in a few seconds. NBA Draft selection
number four of the first round, two rounds worth of
the draft in Chicago tonight. Houston is due to select
a man Thompson shortly and then that will put Detroit
on the clock at number five overall. Center Victor wembin
Yama from France did go number one overall to San Antonio.
Then Charlotte got forward Brandon Miller of Alabama. G League

(24:01):
guards Scoot Henderson to Portland at number three overall. Golden
State will reportedly acquire veteran guard Chris Paul from Washington
for Jordan Poole. Celtics will trade Marcus Smart to Memphis,
Wizards reportedly dealing Chris tops Porzingis to Boston. The University
of Connecticut gave coach Dan Hurley, a new six year
contract to college Baseball, will decide the last finalists tonight

(24:24):
as Semi in Omaha has number one wake Forest scoreless
in the seventh inning against number five LSU again winner
to the finals against number two Florida Well at Yankee
Stadium tonight, it's Mariners ten nothing over the Yanks in
the top of the fourth Yankees with three errors already
as well. The Royals have taken the lead three to
two at Tampa Bay top of the seventh and race

(24:46):
starter Shane mcclanah had eleven to one this year, has
left due to an apparent injury. Pirates lead bottom of
the eighth foro to one at the Marlins. The others
were day games. They're done. Atlanta winners of eight in
a row, including the ten inning victory at five at
Elfia five to one. Arizona won again five to three
at Washington. Attendance was thirteen thousand in DC. This was

(25:06):
a makeup game from June eighth, when the air quality
was bad. Cleveland sent Oakland to an eighth straight loss,
six to one the A's with only three hits. Oakland's
record now nineteen and fifty eight. Minnesota shut out Boston
six nothing. The Twins, with a record of thirty six
and thirty six, are alone in first in the AL Central.
San Diego ended the Giant's ten game winning streak with

(25:29):
a ten to nothing final at San Francisco. Winning pitcher
Blake Snell six innings, eleven strikeouts, Manny Machado three run homer,
a ten to nothing final and time of the game
was two hours and nineteen minutes.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Back to you, all right, thank you, Steve.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
It is the Odd Couple Chris Brusar Rob Parker live
from the tire rak dot com studios. Tirerak dot com
will help you get there our interview. Now, we are
with a young man who is a friend mine, longtime
friend of mine. I actually was was tight with his
dad and uh, you know, I used to try to

(26:07):
do a little rapping back in the day and we
would be in his father's studio. His father, your father
was like backup singer with the Dell Phonics and stuff
like what was.

Speaker 12 (26:17):
He played with the gap man, the dad's man, the
drum You.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Played drums for the god badda bad Yes.

Speaker 6 (26:25):
And my mom saying she was doing that.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Okay, So you come from a musical background.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
But when I used to be with your dad in
his studio rapping, you were in there as like a
ten year old or something, checking, checking me in, sneaking
some of the brothers out, and uh yeah man, and
you turned into a heck of an MC. So I'll
just kind of introduce what you're here for and then
ask you some questions about it. But you are competing

(26:50):
in a I guess a rap battle correct that Sway
and Tech from Shade forty five on Serious Exit Radio
put on in conjunction with Riza from the Wu Tang clan. Absolutely,
and there were like about nine thousand entrants. Yes, and
you made it to the final twelve. That's that's pretty
impressive man.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
Yeah, man, so humble, humble?

Speaker 3 (27:13):
So what what what rap name do you go by?

Speaker 6 (27:16):
I go by seven complete?

Speaker 3 (27:17):
So what's behind that that name?

Speaker 12 (27:19):
So as a kid, there was when we was in church,
you know, we grew up in church being from Cleveland, Ohio,
you know, inner city, And it was one of the
church mother's sister Irby, she said seven was God's favorite number.
And when she told me that, she looked me right
in minds she like grab both of my cheeks. Like
the you know that classic scene like from like you

(27:40):
know a movie.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
But she told me that was God's favorite number.

Speaker 12 (27:44):
I used that as my name, and I thought that
was purposeful, so I stayed with it.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Okay, cool, cool?

Speaker 4 (27:49):
So how like if you win this, then this contest
is tomorrow on The Swaying Tech Show Live. Yes an
time if you win or what does the winner get
if they you know, come out on top.

Speaker 12 (28:06):
So there are some hidden surprise surprises that's hidden like
only beknowns to Riza in Sway. But the main prize
is that actually spit with Wu Tang clan. Oh, to
actually spit with the Wu Tang Klan on record. Uh,
to actually do a song with the whole clan.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
So they have a So it's gonna be because they
have a show.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
On Hulu, right, yes, continued, you might be on there
or you make the themes.

Speaker 12 (28:29):
Yeah, they're gonna put the theme song on the show.
So that would be amazing. That's my favorite group growing up.
It'll be a dream come true.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
So I was gonna ask you, maybe you just answered it,
but who are some.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
Of the MC's that kind of you know, you looked
up to or you I don't know, I don't know
if patterned yourself after, but who were some of your
favorite MC's and what how would you characterize your style
of rhyming?

Speaker 12 (28:56):
Definitely conscious? Uh Nas Nas was my favorite them see
growing up. And then Chris believe it or not, Chris
is real modest, but he could spit.

Speaker 6 (29:06):
This dude could rap. And him and Dante Man, I'm
talking about bars Man.

Speaker 12 (29:12):
We was this dude. This dude was going to the mosque.
There was going in the mosque with that message, you know,
or the gospel with my dad and me and my
little brother. Was just being all like how people would
respond to him and Dante's spitting like that, and I'm
like he had lyrics. So it's like that was the
first example I saw as a young kid in Cleveland,
MC and in being in church, being being a believer,
seeing him take that stand and then he continued to

(29:34):
take stands and be successful, you know. So this was
one of my first examples as an MC. So he
in my top five.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
So me and me and Nas, you know, all right,
that's about right for sure?

Speaker 12 (29:46):
Black thought uh stacks for sure, jay Z I gotta
say uh in then Kanye West for sure.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Okay, okay, so tomorrow, Man, are you nervous like you?

Speaker 6 (29:59):
Yes, I'm sorry.

Speaker 12 (30:00):
About an hour ago, I got real, real, real nervous,
like because I was I was in the DSW department store, Manhattan,
and somebody started asking me something, and then it came
out that I was going to be on there, and
I started sharing with some people in there that I
was going to be on there, and then somebody asked
me like.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
Are you nervous? Boom. I was like, Man, I'm really
gonna be on there tomorrow.

Speaker 12 (30:20):
I'm like, it's only a couple of hours. This ain't
like when I first flew in on Tuesday. You came
here from La Yeah, from Los Angeles.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
Yup.

Speaker 6 (30:26):
It's been a great state so far. Man.

Speaker 12 (30:28):
Everybody welcome, and it's good to be back on the
East Coast. I came here in my twenties just trying
to get a record deal. I went down to Sony
trying to get signed and stuff like that. But here
I am full circle.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
Man.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
So you also are a sports fan.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
You from Cleveland, so we know Lebron is your favorite player.
So be honest because we always talk about this. Yeah,
who is the goat NBA player?

Speaker 6 (30:53):
M Man almost choked.

Speaker 12 (30:56):
And be honest, I'm a homer though, Bro, honestly so.
I mean, Lebron is at the end of the day,
I believe that he's gonna get all the accolades. He's
trying to wipe Mike out.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
With y'all know what this means.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
He thinks it's Geordan, it's Jordan because you you clearly,
I mean, you took.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
It this against me.

Speaker 12 (31:12):
If I blow up, say something and Chris try to
use this as levers. Do not use this against Brin
on the oh for really, forgive me, Bro, you're gonna
get them six rings too.

Speaker 5 (31:22):
Well.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Let me ask you this because you were in Cleveland
when Lebron was there his first stint.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
Yes, great, Yes, And I was there.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
I did a lot of stories on Lebron and was
at a ton of the games. And then of course
he left and went to Miami and the whole city
just turned on him for the most part. And then
he came back and obviously won a championship, which was great.
It was the city's first championship in any sporting over
fifty years. But when I went back for those games

(31:51):
the second go round, it was great, but it wasn't
what it was before.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
It was almost like the innocence or something lost.

Speaker 6 (32:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:01):
Yeah, So you as a Clevelander, how did you feel
about Lebron when he left and then when he came
back and and even you know after he won the championship,
did that heal all the wounds or take me through
all those tuff yeah?

Speaker 6 (32:16):
Man.

Speaker 12 (32:16):
So I went as a Cleveland fan on the northeast.
I was there arena, correct, I would see Chris because
I so, I worked security at the arena and then
and then I also worked at Next. So when Brian
got those jerseys throw throw back jerseys from Rob. So
I met Brian the first time at eighteen back there
biting his nails in the back of the store.

Speaker 6 (32:35):
I don't know if he'll remember that, but then yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 12 (32:38):
And so then when I was working in Quick and Loans,
I would see him all the time. I would even
guard Savannah and the boys sometimes. And yeah, so I
was working at the broadcast table and that's when I
saw school and I would see you. Yeah, was set up,
but always always forgiven when he left. When he when
he came back and won that championship and kept his word, me,
I feel like I speak on behalf of the city
always forgiven right there. But when he left the first time,

(33:01):
that was horrible because we know we the mid West, like,
just tell us what's going on. Just be straight up.
If you're gonna leave, just give us the heads up.
I think he would have had the blessing of everybody.

Speaker 6 (33:10):
We lost.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
You wouldn't have.

Speaker 6 (33:12):
We got swept by the spurs.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
What you talking about.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Some people would have still, but they would have still
been mad. There was no that was the thing. There
was no good way he could.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
Have done it.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
I don't know because it would have.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
I mean, I would have been upset if I was
a you know, how you do it, how polite your
wife come to you and say I'm leaving you. It's
gonna hurt no matter what.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
But he went back, He settled the score, He brought
Cleveland a great championship and had a fantastic career. Still
is sure nothing for Lebron to be ashamed of with
his Cleveland tenure. All right, so this is our man
seven complete, So tell us about it.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
What time tomorrow, what station and all that? Can people
check you?

Speaker 6 (33:53):
Oh ten am shade forty five man, Please tune in.
I'm gonna be there. It's gonna be my first time
on Sway in the Morning. This is a big moment
for me.

Speaker 12 (34:00):
But I'm still very humble, like I said, and I got,
you know, a mentor like Chris Man and kind of
just show me, you know, kind of what they expect
a little bit, man.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
But I appreciate y'all rooting.

Speaker 12 (34:09):
For me and supporting in the morning Man Shave forty
five Sway in the Morning, Tune in and listen.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
I'm gonna let y'all know I've heard the bars. He's
gonna spit.

Speaker 6 (34:18):
It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
It's crazy, like the beat is dope. It's like a
break beat. The beat is crazy.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
And he he got a real chance to win because
he's a he's a he's a spinner. Appreciate the dope,
BMC man, So check you out seven complete tomorrow on
the Swaying Tech Show Shave forty five ten A. M
all right, man.

Speaker 6 (34:42):
I appreciate chrying for you.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Do your thing.

Speaker 6 (34:44):
Thank you, brother, Go out there and represent it's the
odd couple.

All Right, It's the Odd Couple Chris and Rob live
from the tire right dot com studios on a TV
theme song Thursday, We're brought to you by Irish Spring.
That's right, the fresh scent of Irish spring and those
sensational Irish Spring SuDS. They're just the reset you need
to own the day Irish Spring. When the spring hits you,

(35:26):
you're ready. Pick up Irish Spring at your local retailer.
Two day, all right, Rob. The NBA draft obviously underweigh
and really the meat of the draft has already occurred.
For when Banyamago's number one, no surprise there, Brandon Miller
to Scoot Henderson three. Some people thought it might be
flip flopped and Charlotte might take Scoot Henderson. What are

(35:49):
your thoughts on Most people felt Scoop is the better player.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
We're not necessarily draft experts. You have a feel, did my.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
Michael Jordan, who hasn't had a successful history of drafting,
did he make a mistake in your view?

Speaker 5 (36:06):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
I think those two guys are just from the stuff
that I've read, Chris, and you know, and a little
bit that I follow college basketball, because you know, we
just don't.

Speaker 5 (36:14):
I used to cover college basketball.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
We used to watch all the games and know all
the players, and we don't we do the tournament anybody, everybody?

Speaker 5 (36:21):
Do you guys follow college basketball or you don't follow
it like you used to?

Speaker 1 (36:25):
Right, Like we used to watch it. I covered We've
talked about it before. I covered Saint John's when Mark
Jackson was on the team, and Walter Burry and players
of that ilk and now we just don't get to
see them that much until tournamental college basket, you know
what I mean, right, and a lot of those guys.
But I don't look at it like this won't be one.

(36:49):
I don't think, Chris, where somebody will go ten years
from now, Oh, Jordan Blew another one. I don't think
that they're that far apart, do you know? Like I
don't from what we see, right, Yeah, I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
If you're Charlotte, if both players you felt were the same. Now,
look we'll see if Brandon Miller is a complete bust
and so then that.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
Would be different. Now, that's one thing.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
But if they're both good players are fairly comparable. They've
got their point guard and he's nice. LaMelo ball just
needs to stay healthy. He is a very good place.
I was gonna say this though. Last year, Chris, we
didn't hear about him like I.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
Well, he was out most I know, but I but he.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Kind of fell off like from where he was. I
still don't think he should have won Rookie of the Year.
But that's another story. That for another.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
Dad.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
I really right, because we didn't think he didn't play
play enough.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
You remember, both were in agreement with that, and Anthony
Edwards proved people that he was the real deal.

Speaker 5 (37:48):
He should have been Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
I do believe that.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
I thought that was the first and he had a
higher scoring average, which normally for Rookie of the year,
the guy with ther you usually win. Chris and he
had the higher score now which had played more games,
But LaMelo had all up, you know, the juice and
the name facts and all that, so he wound up winning.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
Look, LaMelo rob lashing. Now he only played thirty six games.

Speaker 5 (38:15):
Is that all it was?

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Now? So that's why you didn't hear about it.

Speaker 5 (38:18):
I didn't realize it was that low.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
But Rob he averaged twenty three points, eight and a
half assists, and six and a half rebounds.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Yeah, so it didn't feel like that maybe because they
weren't winning.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I don't know what it won.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
Again, because he played so sparingly, I think that's what
it was.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
And two broken ankles from those sneakers he was wearing. Oh,
I'm sorry, and I say that I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
But Brandon Miller.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
And again I see a lot of Paul George in
his game if he becomes a star player himself.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Now you've got a front.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
Court player and up guard who you know are both
very good players.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
So we'll see.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
I can't say definitively that I think School Henderson's gonna
be better than him, because we're just going off what
we hear from people, some little highlights we've seen.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
And Chris out of the top five picks, only one
college kid, like like like that's where were on the
in the NBA draft, you know, like like we don't
know who they they don't play in college, we don't
get to see them, or we don't know that much
about them, and and it's and then after the first
five we don't even know, like like like the draft

(39:28):
is over after five picks, can you like like seriously
because people don't really because really don't know the other
people after that? So you go what who right? And
the twin brothers it went four and five our men
and our sewer Thompson.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
Uh they go to.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Detroit at Detroit at number five and uh the Rockets
at number four. And so the Rockets are at the
point they don't need any more young players. I mean
they you know, like they it's too many Jalen Green,
Jabbari Smith. Now you got one of the Thompson brothers,

(40:05):
Alper and Shagoon or Kevin Porter Jr.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
Like they're all gonna be they you know what they want.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
I say, Rob, when you enter the league as a player,
you're thinking, let me establish myself as a.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
Star and get that big max bag. And if you have.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Four or five guys thinking how they gonna win?

Speaker 3 (40:25):
So I get it. But they got a nice young people.

Speaker 4 (40:28):
Now they need to sprinkle in some veterans and start
playing to win basketball.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
If they get another young kid on that team, they're
gonna need a wet nurse on their medical staff.

Speaker 5 (40:38):
I'm just saying

Speaker 3 (40:41):
That's what I mean.
