divisional round of playoff games coming up this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
In the NFL, and I.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Think Rob there are three quarterbacks in my opinion. You
might disagree, but I think there are three that are
facing and in a big amount of pressure. I brought
Party because they are wildly favorite to not only win

(01:50):
the game this weekend, but win the NFC at the
very least. In fact, I think they're still favorite to
win the Super Bowl, even though Baltimore blast to them when.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
They played and Rob.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
They've got four All pros and they've got such a
talented squad that if they lose a lot.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Of people will blame Rock Party.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Now, it's one thing if he goes out there and
throws for three hundred yards, three touchdowns, no picks, right, right,
But in most cases most scenarios, like the defense is
gonna be pretty good, and if he just plays a
bad game and they lose, he will really get criticized.
The other two. First, I think Josh Allen Rob has

(02:38):
never been able to get over Mount Mahomes. Right, He's
he's beaten Mahos three out of four regular season games Rob,
but only he's zero for two against him in.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
The playoffs and the one playoff one, the one where
he came back and got that touchdown that wasn't his, Like, no,
I'm just saying, I'm just saying that, but that he got,
he touched down, he got the touchdown at the end
that had nothing to do with him. I'm just saying, no, no, But.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
He still viewed as a guy that has underachieved in
terms of the playoffs and hasn't been able to get
past Mahomes and rob If you don't do it this year,
when Kansas City's offense is as bad as we've ever
seen it, when the Chiefs played five hundred football over
the second half of the season, when you have the

(03:29):
home field advantage.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Against the Chiefs, when are you going to do it?

Speaker 1 (03:35):
And so if he just like we talked about Dak,
if Josh Allen doesn't win this game, he could very
well be viewed as a regular season quarterback too.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
And then you've got Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
We talked about him a little bit yesterday about to
become the youngest player ever to win two straight MVPs,
or not straight, but two MVP awards and they both before.
He's twenty seven now, but yeah, he just turned twenty seven,
but he might.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I think he just turned twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Yeah, but he might be both unanimous, but yet in
the playoffs he's been one to three, He's played poorly,
four touchdowns, seven interceptions, and again they're facing a rookie
quarterback at CJ. Stroud, who, as good as he is,
is still a rookie and has a team that's not
nearly as good as Baltimore. So if he were to
lose this weekend, Rob, he would you know, get crushed

(04:29):
as well and be viewed again as a regular season quarterback.
I personally think the most pressures on Lamar. Now, some
people might want to throw in Mahomes first role playoff
game golf, right because they're playing Baker Mayfield and Tampa Bay,
who they should win. They're at home like their other
guys obviously love and c J. Stroud, Jordan loves CJ.

(04:50):
Stroud really playing with house money.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
So those those guys are house money.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Right right, So I think Lamar has the most pressure
this week It Rob, where are you at?

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, it's got to be Lamar because of what he
was able to do and were assuming that he's going
to win. I don't think anybody's doubting he's going to
win the MVP. Chris, So I think it is. Because
of that, it's going to be on Lamar. And that
doesn't mean that brock Perty is off the hook because
Rock Parties off the career. Yeah yeah, yeah, But if

(05:30):
I had to pick one, I'm gonna pick the guy
who just won MVP, who just had an unbelievable season,
the guy who just beat up on Rock Party and
you know, and the forty nine ers, you know, in
the big game of the biggest game of the year,
so to say, so to speak. So I do think

(05:52):
it's Lamar. I think Lamar has something that is time
to put it all together. He has a team, he
has all the pieces. Chris, there's no real they played
football the way I expect them to play. I'm not
saying they're gonna win by forty or anything like that.
I just expect him to win.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yeah, And I think the good thing about Lamar one
of them, is that he understands.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
That, you know, he that's all he's talked about it
won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Well right, But yet he's got the right approach, Like
when people have said to him throughout the season, oh
you did this, you did that, You guys crush so
and so he's always like, you know, we haven't done
the job yet.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
You know, we.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Have one goal in mind, and we got to take
it one week at a time. And he's never really
I haven't heard him overlooking the next opponent, even as
he's talked about his one goal is to win the
Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
He's always taking it one week at a time.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Rob, Whereas I think with the Cowboys, for instance, the
biggest example of a team that underachieved this year.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
They were talking super.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Bowl and I even think I think overlooking teams.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I think they overlooked Green Bay. Yeah, I mean, you know,
part of it could be that, Chris, but the other
part is they just weren't ready to play. I mean,
I get it because we talk about this all the time,
and there's a I'm mixed because I've seen that, Oh,
they just gave them billboard material. There are plenty of
teams that gave teams billboard materials still got beat like,

(07:28):
like you know what I mean, because the other team
was better than you, right, and and so that doesn't
always work, and nobody ever goes back, you know, after
the team beat somebody with billboard material. It's only when
you lose then people go see, you never should have
said that they never do it when they talk a
big game, Chris, and they win. But San Francisco did

(07:50):
that the Philly this year. Yep right, And ain't nobody
said anything right if Philly actually did it to Kansas City,
yep so. But but this is uh for Lamar. He
has no excuses. No, they're healthy for the most part, Chris.
They got their team, They can run the ball, their

(08:11):
defense is dynamic. Oh my god, that's a record setting game.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Ever to lead the league in scoring, defense, right, sacks
and takeaway.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
I mean, they do it all. They do it all,
and that's gonna be a big part of the game
as well, not just Lamar. Lamar just has to do
his part. This isn't about Lamar having to score forty five.
That's it.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
He's had a lot of games, Rob where you just
look at the box scores, they're not that impressive, right,
But when you watch it, he controls the game's scrambling
at the right times, much like Mahomes. But obviously he's
a better runner than Mahomes. But both of those guys
scramble very effectively. What about Allen rob This, I.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Mean it's just now or never, like like like the Chiefs.
This is Mahomes's first road game right in the postseason.
Chris not talking about a neutral site Super Bowl, but
a road game. So it's big when you play at
home all the time and they have the Chiefs, they've
been very fortunate. Now they're in hostile territory. The Chiefs

(09:18):
aren't that good, you know, like they're good, but they
aren't what we've used to what we've seen in the past.
They're beatable. They're very beatable. And if the Bills can't
make this happen, you could almost put up a bowl
on the whole thing. Chris McDermott allen that team the
way it is, And I'm not saying that Alan's going anywhere,

(09:40):
but I'm saying as far as feeling like, you know,
like they like like they're window closing, I could, I
could really feel like that's the end of another Buffalo chapter.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
No, there's no doubt about that. And excuse me, yeah,
I mean, this is the year he's got to get
it done. Look, I think McDermott's job is safe, Rob
even if they don't win. I think Look, I don't get.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
I'm not convinced that I think.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
There's an excuse for him. While I wouldn't. You know,
I've been saying this job should be on the line,
but they have a lot of injuries, and they had
a couple guys injured last week, and so I think
that could serve. You know, when he made the change
to Dorsey as OC or got rid of Ken Dorsey,
I should say as OC put in Joe Brady. They've

(10:37):
been rolling ever since, and so I think that gives
him an excuse. And then I think if their defense
doesn't play well, the injuries to the defense, that gives
him an excuse. But I don't think it should be
that cut and dried. I think they really need to
look at it if they lose.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
But I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
I mean, this is the year they need to get
it done.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Do you think Mahomes under any pressure being that it's
his first road game.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
No, And I don't think that people really expect if
he were able to get to the AFC Championship get
it would be a miracle and it would be a
testament to him. I don't think he and if he loses,
I don't think anybody's gonna come down because this team
just was inconsistent all year. Chris, They really weren't they
lost what at one point they lost like four out

(11:24):
of five or something like ridiculous, like they were five
and five sean in their last ten, right, So I
don't I don't look at it like Mahome's gonna be like,
oh my god. Now if they make some changes and
it's a struggle again next year, then people will be like, Okay,
what's going on here? If they lose, they gotta go
get some receivers. Oh, Liza, they got to improve the team, Chris,

(11:47):
next year, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Well, the defense is really good, the run game is
really good. The old line could use a little tinkering.
But Rob, to me, their main thing. If Kelsey comes
back and Noah grades okay as a tight end, then
I think the main thing is.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Gonna says he said he said he's coming back. If
I if I recall, because once you start talking about retirement,
I always wonder about that.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Yeah, but I think I'm pretty sure he said he's
coming back. So they really need to meet one thing,
and that's receivers.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
But if you're right, Rob, if they win this game,
I just think the Kansas City mystique grows, right, and
it's like man even in the year, when they look down,
they go ahead and get it done, or at least
get deep in the playoffs. So all right, eight seven,
seven ninety nine or a Fox, you'll turn the way
in which quarterback is under the most pressure this weekend, Lamar,

(12:45):
Josh Allen, Brock, Purty or somebody else your thoughts next,

I think you'll bag me up on this. We've never
had uh Martin on I don't think we've had Martin
on the show.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
As far as the song, I don't think so. I
like it, Mark's job. I used to like Martin. Did
you watch Martin? Yeah? I did. I watched it. I
liked The Fresh Prince more than Martin, but I did
watch it.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
That's a good question. I don't know which one I like.
I mean, Martin was sillier.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
It was.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Yeah, that's the right way of looking at it. Martin
was over the top silly. Yeah, yeah, but it was.
It was good, but it was over the top silly.
Fresh Prince seemed more like I mean, it was silly
of course too. It's a comedy, but you know, it
seemed a little more real life, a little bit.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
A little more realistic.

Speaker 1 (14:47):

Speaker 3 (15:23):
All right, let's start with Dre in Michigan. You're on
the couple of Fox sportuiting. What's up, Dre?

Speaker 5 (15:28):
Two dudes, what's going on? Fellas bro I'm good, I'm good.
Hey man, y'all let MONSI know she's still invited to
the picnic. Man, I ain't take our comments like they try.

Speaker 6 (15:36):
To portray him.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Oh me, all right, no doubt.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
Yeah, but no, I think it's on a. I think
it's more on Josh Allen because if he lose, like
y'all was speaking about earlier, the way that team constructed
it gonna get blown blew up. So you're talking about
the coach might lose his job, Stefan Diggs might be
gone at least with Lamar, he cond of you can
always fall it's a week week excuse, but you can
still say they came up against a hot team when
they was rusted because they've been off for three weeks.

(16:01):
People forget about that. You know they've been off for that.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
I never liked that. Chris and I are both on
the same page. I hate that.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
No, it take community like if they can keep it
closer in the first half, the second half they get
their bearings and probably get in the rhythm. But I
think it's all on Josh Allen.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Right now, only because this could be the end of
an ear of there. It's hard for me to disagree
with that. Thanks for the call, Dre. We appreciate it.
Uh Nate in Ohio, you're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Nate?

Speaker 5 (16:30):
What's going on?

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Guys?

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Are you? What's up?

Speaker 7 (16:32):
Man?

Speaker 5 (16:32):
I'm good.

Speaker 6 (16:33):
I think in the AFC it's it comes down to
either Josh Allen or Lamar. I think Josh Allen is
because you know it's when now must it's a must
win now. And then on the Lamar side, he's two
and five in the playoffs. He's more of a one
and done and I just can't get over the fact

(16:55):
that he's two and five in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
Lamar hasn't been in that many playoff games. Lamar's one
in three, one and three, two and five. That's Daky, Okay,
that's Dak. Yeah, but you know you're right about Lamar.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
And then I believe you know, the last five four
or five years, it's been you know, either Patrick Mahons
or Joe Burrow to get through.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
So no, I agree those two are are definitely on
the hot SAE. Appreciate the call. Thanks, Nate.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
Good Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Is that Jola in Dallas? Jola? You're in the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio? What's up?

Speaker 7 (17:28):
You already know man?

Speaker 8 (17:29):
How y'all doing tonight?

Speaker 6 (17:30):
La?

Speaker 3 (17:31):
We're good man?

Speaker 8 (17:31):
What up?

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Man?

Speaker 7 (17:32):
Brother of the airways man y'all and uncles of the airways.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Thank you, my man.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
Appreciate it, Yes, sir, but no, I'm gonna make it
three for three man. It has to be josh allx
because remember he let Joe Burrow go into his house
and stop him out last year, and then if he
lets uh Patrick Mahomes come into his house and do
it again. It's just gonna be compound interest. And then,
like y'all said, this is the weakest that Patrick Mahomes
is going to be his first time going on the road.

(17:58):
And then, like the previous callers in the second behind
Josh Allen has to be Lamar because I mean, he's
playing the j Stroud, he's playing with house money. Like
y'all said, he has to take him out and go,
at least in an AFC championship game and at least
say I did that.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Oh no, they can't lose. If they lose, it's gonna
be hellipay no what I'm with you.

Speaker 7 (18:18):
But like I said, it has to be Josh Allen,
he asked, this is his opportunity to seize the moment.
He has to do it.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
No, we we We're with you. Now, we're with you
on that. How about Gary and Houston? Thanks for the call,
appreciated Gary on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (18:34):
Yeah, so the Bills are under more preuss than the Ravens,
but I think Lamar is under more press than Josh
Allen for two reasons. First reason is I don't think
I think Lamar's window is faller because I don't think
his game will age as well as Josh Allen's because
he can't throw like Josh. And two, Josh I think
has been a better playoff performer.

Speaker 7 (18:51):
So that's why I think Lamar.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Well, Josh has definitely been a better playoff performer. I mean,
there's no question about that. It's interesting the aging, I
don't know. I mean, Lamar obviously coming a better passer.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
And I think everybody thought that. And Chris, you were
won early on and just didn't think that it would
he would be able to sustain this. But here he is, Well,
he's changed his game. No, I know, I'm just saying, right,
and and and and how you survive in life, Chris,
and you don't become a dinosaurs? What you you evolve? Right, Okay, you.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Have to evolve.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
And I think that he's not the same quarterback that
he that won the MVP.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
He's before if it's first or second option wasn't there.
He's running now, he'll scramble to get you know, but
he's still looking for the past. Is interesting because Josh
runs a lot like Josh. Physical physicality, if you will,
is a big part of Josh Allen's game, and Chris,
I'll tell you that. Sure if his age, it should

(19:48):
if you don't know all those hits right, and we
started with Cam Newton. And what I think Lamar did Chris,
which is smart. He took away all those goal line
touchdown that he used to run for and gave him
up to other playoffs.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Yeah, he could easily. Chris could have easily run in
ten or twelve touchdown down in the red zone easily,
no doubt. He doesn't have to do that anymore. I
think it's smart. Yep, Jacks in Kansas City, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Jacks?

Speaker 8 (20:20):
What's going on? How you doing, mister Parker? Thank you
for taking my call, Sir Chris, my good Newpie. What's
going on with you? Bro?

Speaker 3 (20:27):
I'm great new How are you shoopy? Noopie? Okay, out
of there.

Speaker 8 (20:36):
I'll tell you what, man, I agree. This is Josh
Allen's opportunity to slay the Patrick Mahomes dragon. I mean
to have ended his season in the playoffs the way
Pat has. Now you know, you know they rubbing their
hands together like, oh, we can't wait to get him
up here on the in our in our house. I'm
telling you the thing you got to remember about Pat.

(20:57):
Remember when he counted down on Chicago if they didn't
pick him, when they picked u Bisky or a lot
of the petty things. We call him petty Pat. And
so that kind of energy actually fuels that dude. And
because this team now understands what they are. They are
not a high flying offense. It's gonna put up a
bunch of points. If they go two out of six

(21:17):
in the red zone, it seems like a problem. But
if those other four scorers are all, if those other
four possessions are all field goals, with this defense, they
can win like that. That's twenty six points.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Well, that's the thing they become.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Their defense is great, and y look you, nobody but
a fool would ever count out Mahomes. But the defense
has become great, and it's interesting. If they could win
it this year, it would be more like one of
those early championships for Brady, you know, where the defense
was strong, the offense was okay.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
So yeah, I don't expect him to win, but if
he does, it would be some I don't expect.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
If he wins, it'll the mystique surrounding the Chiefs just
skyrocket because this is their most vulnerable we've ever seen
him under Mahomes definitely, and yeah, if they somehow won
it during this when you you know how you gonna.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Beat these guys?

Speaker 1 (22:12):
All right, it's the eye couple, Chris and Rob. We
got our Mayor Adam kaplan coming up. But first Steve
Disager with the update Step.

Speaker 10 (22:20):

Pittsburgh on Monday thirty one, seventeen when Josh Allen had
three touchdown passes and a TD run. Kansas City hasn't
played a road playoff game since the twenty fifteen season.
Chiefs have won fifteen straight at home in the postseason.
They are not at home this weekend. Detroit hosts Tampa

he will reportedly have a second interview with the Atlanta
Falcons this weekend. He already talked to the team owner

(23:49):

the outside. Cliff Kingsbury will reportedly talk to the Bears
about their offensive coordinator opening Zach Johnson tied for the
one stroke lead in Southern California after a first round
sixty two. The Dallas Cowboys Stadium will reportedly host the
World Cup Final in twenty twenty six. Jannishntenakompo and Lebron

(24:09):
James still lead their conferences in All Star voting after
the third returns from the fan vote. Currently it is
the Chicago Bulls in the lead at Toronto ninety eight
ninety seven with eight minutes to go. Nicks have a
lead with about eight minutes left eighty four eighty over
the Wizards. If Washington loses, their record will be seven
and thirty three. And the Utah Jazz have won six

(24:30):
in a row, but they're trailing at home thirty seven
twenty to the Oklahoma City Thunder and an upset. In
college hoops, South Florida winner at number ten Memphis seventy
four to seventy three on a late free throw back
to you.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
All right, thank you, Steve, have a good night.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
It's the I Couple Chris and Rob live from thetiereg
dot Com studios. Our next guest is a Fox Sports
Radio NFL insider friend of the show, Adam Kaplan Adam,
Welcome guys.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
It's been a while. Good to talk to you.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
I been a while. Oh man, it definitely has good
to hear your boys. Happy New Year all day?

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Ye yeah?

Speaker 3 (25:04):
And boy that that I is d end in your
house sounds great?

Speaker 2 (25:08):
You like that?

Speaker 8 (25:08):
Man?

Speaker 11 (25:09):
I I uh the boy that the station's love it
because you know it sounds like I'm right next to you,
does it not?

Speaker 5 (25:14):
Chris?

Speaker 3 (25:15):
It sounds great like you can tell when you're on
the phone and tell when you're on this. That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
No, it is great. Let's start in Dallas. Were you surprised?

Speaker 6 (25:23):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Thank you? Why do you think this happened?

Speaker 2 (25:28):
All right? So I talked to Uh, It's pretty funny.

Speaker 11 (25:31):
Everyone I talked around the league thought that that Jerry
would move on just because it was so embarrassing that
they got embarrassed at home. But as someone who used
to work for Jerry told me, he said, you said,
you're missing the point why he kept.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Him Every year.

Speaker 11 (25:45):
Everyone everyone would say, Jason Garrett's getting fired. Jason garretts
getting fired. He's not getting fired, believe it or not.
Jerry's actually very patient. I'm like I said to this guy,
he worked for the Cowboys for years.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
He goes, Look, you.

Speaker 11 (25:58):
Got to understand he's eternal optimist. He also doesn't like
to admit that he's wrong. He thought, and look, McCarthy's
won a Super Bowl. They've won a lot of games here.
But yeah, there's of all the coaching changes, two of
that surprised me. I was not surprised by Keith Pete Carroll.
Maybe I'm one of the few people, but I was
not surprised. He's seventy two. They kind of leveled off.

(26:19):
I was really stunned by Mike rabel situation. But I
did write for Pro Footballnetwork dot Com and I do
a Monday column two weeks ago. I'm like, watch that situation.
There's something weird going on. But I just didn't think
they'd walk away from him. And I'm glad that the
charges of interested in him. But yeah, they just Jerry.
I mean, I know he's you know, he's eighty one

(26:39):
years old and all that. But man, they were so
willfully prepared for that game. But one thing I'll tell you,
which is sort of under the surface. I was talking
to general manager a the NFLGM on my training camp
tour in August and I remember that it was like yesterday,
because we're talking. He asked me a word i'd gone,
and I said, oh, I was. You know with the
Calvis and auction Art, they're talented. He goes, yeah, but

(27:01):
I think you're missing a point here. Their football character
is not very good. They take so many risks on
players that other teams wouldn't take. But he goes for
the flash. If we had time, guys, I could go
through ten players on the roster who have issues off
the field or not great football character.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
Guys.

Speaker 11 (27:18):
That stuff matters because when you're not playing well, are
they in the right spot, are they trying to freelance?
Are they doing what they should be? That stuff matters.
This is a reason why the Cowboys don't get there.
It's been nearly thirty years.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
Thirty years. It is unbelievable when you think about that.
And I think Chris and I have told about I
think only three teams haven't been to the conference finals
in the last thirty years, and it's like the Cowboys, Lions,
and Browns or something like an unbelievable that the Cowboys
are in that group. But let me ask you about
Bill Belichick and the Falcons I told Chris he doesn't

(27:54):
have his pick of the litter, and I don't see
it's at that age you waiting around hoping that you're
going to sit out a year and they're gonna.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Call you next year. I think it happened, am I right?
Like this is so you let me ask you this
next year.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
It's not like he's gonna wait and wait for now. Right?

Speaker 1 (28:09):
But what if if My point is, I think he'd
be better off waiting, sitting out than taking it Atlanta
job and again this year?

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Right right? If they struggled again, you think they look
at Belli.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
You don't think they look at Belichick next year if
he sat out a year, Philly?

Speaker 11 (28:30):
Well, no, well, first, first of all, first well, first
of all, first of all, you mean Atlanta if they
didn't get Belichick this year and.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Struggles.

Speaker 11 (28:41):
Okay, let's go to the Eagles world since you mention them.
What I understand is tomorrow morning, sometime tomorrow morning, East
Coast time, that next year on the Eagles head coach
will meet with Jeffrey loriie. This is what he does
with his head coaches. In this case, it's snick Gyrianny.
This is the season end meeting any better because Doug
Peterson was not prepared for that meeting. He had two

(29:03):
and Doug got fired because he and the owner could
not agree on the coaching staff. Nick had a bad
second half of the season, a total melt on. Everybody
knows he'd better be prepared for this meeting to have
significant changes and a good lineup of coaches who he
wants to hire. If he doesn't, that meeting may not
go well. He may not get a second meeting. So
I remember my reporting on the twenty twenty meeting. It

(29:25):
didn't go well. If Doug was defiant. Doug Peterson is
now the Jaguars head coach. He would up, but he
would not give up his OFFENSEI coordinator would not make
a change, and they wanted to keep Doug, but he
just was not an agreement and the owner fired him.
So my sense is that the owner wants to keep
him going into this, but as I've warned people, doesn't
mean it's going to happen.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
So now I know that they have relationship with Bill.

Speaker 11 (29:46):
They've done Howie Rosaman, the GM and Bill have done
a lot of deals together. I'm told that they have
a pretty good relationship that's formed over a series of years.
It wasn't always good, but they have a good relationship.
I'm not saying that he was going to move on
from Nick, but he would be on the radar for
if some re for some reason, it didn't go well.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
But I know this though.

Speaker 11 (30:03):
The Eagles want an innovative head coach and they want
Nick to be more forward thinking.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
And Nick did not do a great job the season.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Right, But but Bill can't. He's too old to sit out.
I just I can.

Speaker 11 (30:13):
Yeah, it's not sitting Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Can't sit out a year and hope.

Speaker 11 (30:17):
I mean, where's he gonna And by the way, now
here's another thing, Rob and Chris. Here's something that I wonder.
Terry Fott know the GM has control, he's personal control
with the Falcons as they understand it. How will that
dynamic work if this happens over the weekend and they
agree to terms, like, how would that work? Because Bill's
had it, he wanted it with New England. Now, he

(30:37):
hinted to the media two weeks ago that he was
willing to do whatever it really took, right, which was
interesting to hear him say that. Yeah, Now, now that's funny.
Rob you say that now, some of the media there
were skeptical. We'll never know if it would have happened
if Bill Bill got let go. So I'm just interested
to see how that would work because he doesn't know
Terry Foto as I understand it now, Arthur Blank know you.
Arthur Blank's also an older is one of the oldest owners.

(31:00):
He's not looking to rebuild there. They spent I'm told,
over eighty one million dollars in free agent money this
past offseason. They're not looking to rebuild here and Bill's
not looking to rebuild a roster.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Now. They need a quarterback.

Speaker 11 (31:12):
That's the one thing they didn't need to get.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
How do you what do you think Russell Wilson justin
fields or.

Speaker 11 (31:19):
I can't imagine Russell Wilson. I'll tell you why. I
don't know why Bill thought Cam Newton would work. He
was an absolute disaster. I know Cam wasn't totally healthy.
Of them, it didn't work. Russell Wilson, guys, the reason
why he won't be the Broncos quarterback going forward is
he doesn't take coaching well.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
He wants to do his own thing.

Speaker 11 (31:40):
He's going to break the pocket and try to make
a magical play, try to be Superman. That drove the
coaches crazy. With the Seahawks, it drove Sean Payton crazy.
I can't imagine Bill would want a guy plays out
of structure. It just you never say never. Well, you know,
we'll see what quarterbacks are available there and obviously justin Fields,
the Bears have to make a decision on his fifth
year option. He's still in our contract, but the twenty

(32:02):
five option is due by May second. There'll be some
other quarterbacks become available.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
But Adam, let me let me what happened. I want
to get I want to get here before we run
on you.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
I do.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bill, I think this is a
franchise franchise framing structure game because if you can't beat
Patrick Mahomes with that team on the road at home
the way that they've been playing going forward, the Bills

(32:34):
won't be the same. I mean, is that is that
how big this is? If they lose this games?

Speaker 11 (32:39):
Well, I would say this the Bills and the chase
with with Mahomes and Allen.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
I've obviously had some epic battles in the playoffs.

Speaker 11 (32:47):
The thing though, the Bills, right now, and their back
seven are so banged up there they could potentially be
down three of their top four linebackers. Where the start
that Trendavis White, there's the best corners out for the
season with the torn achilles. The other corners Kristen be
for believe or not played at Villanova. It's been a
good story. He's got a knee injury. They don't know
if they're gonna have him. That does worry me. And

(33:08):
the thing is, folks, the weather's gonna be fine as
of now for Sunday.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
It's Saturday. It's not gonna be fine.

Speaker 11 (33:13):
You saw Andy Reed didn't care that it was below zero.
They threw the ball forty one times last week. They're
gonna be a lot of passing in that game. I'm
worried about the Bill's defense with these injuries because again
we don't, you know, kicking again. I'm going to pick
Kansas City as of now because I'm worried about the
Bill's defensive injuries.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
They didn't They had a bunch of guys.

Speaker 11 (33:30):
Get hurting last week's game against Pittsburgh on Monday, by
the way, so or too yeah, on on Monday. So
I'm worried about the Bill's defensive injuries here, No, I agree.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
With you, like I think I'm picking Bills, but the
injuries on defense do concern me, There's no question about it.
Last thing on Dallas before you go, Dak, it seems
like I think they have to bring him back. They
have to ex he's not going anywhere. Yeah, you think
they make him the highest paid player. Do you think
you'll take a little less to try to better the

(34:02):
team or what?

Speaker 2 (34:03):
All Right, So here's the problem with Dak.

Speaker 11 (34:05):
See Jerry Jones, Jerry going back to ninety three and
ninety four with EMITTT.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Smith.

Speaker 11 (34:11):
He waits and waits and waits to extend contracts. So
the agents costs some more money.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Yeah, in the.

Speaker 11 (34:16):
Clubs, Rob, you and I have talked about this before. Well,
here's the thing. Dak is on the final year of
his contract, his extension. His salary cap numbers and ugly
fifty nine point four to five five million. There's zero
chance he plays on that they're gonna have to extend him.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
It's not he's not.

Speaker 11 (34:30):
Old like Okay, he turns thirty one in August in July,
big deal, that's not old by quarterback standards. They're going
to extend his contract, and he's gonna have to have
a lower cap number. Now he could on your point,
Rob and and Chris, he could take a lower cap Well,
he's gonna take a lower cap number. Now, he could
take less money in the first couple of years, but
he's gonna get paid. And the average per season could
could have will clips fifty five million year easily.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
Oh wow, there it is. Don King would say, only
in America, right right about that?

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Terrible playoff games?

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Terrible? All right, Adam, all right, moroc Couple, coming you away,

Speaker 1 (35:27):
Every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching fs R.
All right, it's the Odd Couple, Chris and Rob live
from thee Tire Reck dot Com studios. Rob as I
think you know, I am a voter for the NBA
All Star Game, one of the media voters, and also
for the uh you know, postseason awards or regular season awards.

(35:50):
But I want to give you my All Star teams.
You just vote for the starters and see if you agree.
You ready, yes, sir, all right, and you pick two
guards and three front court players. And they don't unlike
the All League teams, they don't like list guys at
both positions, you know, like Jason Tatum. I think on

(36:12):
the All League valley, he's like listed as a guard
or a front court player, but they don't do that
with the All Star But anyway, my Eastern Conference guards
Tyrese Halliburton from Indiana who leaves the league and assists
Donovan Mitchell of Cleveland. Front court players Jason Tatum, Joel Mbi,
Jannis Antetokoumpo West my guards Shay Gilgers, Alexander Luka, Doncic. Now,

(36:38):
I hated to leave Anthony Edwards off, but I can't
put him head of one of those two guys, and
then my forwards Anthony Davis or my front court guys
Anthony Davis Jokic. Obviously, and this was a tough one,
rob but I went with Kawhi Leonard over Kevin Duran

(36:59):
or Paul I don't think.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
I don't think that's a mistake. I think that is
actually spot on. And the way he's played this year
where the Clippers are Chris the durability. Remember he played
what twenty seven games in a row at some point
or whatever. I think he's earned it. I think that
is great. And Kevin Durant, I get it. You know what,
Kevin Durant was off to a great start at one point,

(37:22):
Chris almost averaging what thirty points a game? Yeah, I
mean he's played well, but they weren't winning, and you
gotta that that counts. Kawhi and what the Clippers did
once they figured it out and got the lineup together. Yeah, No,
I'm with you on that. Kawhi is that player this

(37:42):
year in the first half. If I'm gonna go and
two guys are close, I'm gonna pick the guy who's
who's affecting and having an impact on winning, because ultimately
that's why the games are played, aren't they right?

Speaker 8 (37:55):
No?

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Absolutely? And also he you know, he had an adjustment
to me too with James Harden coming in. Harden at
the point guard ist can can be seamless.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Uh if he accepts that role and he has. He's
averaging about seventeen points with the Clippers. But obviously running
the show, dishing the ball. So yeah, that's my all
in all All Star teams. Any any any changes you
would make?

Speaker 3 (38:23):
No, I think actually yours is pretty spot on. And
the one that I would have but you already did
it was was that I was wondering where you would
go with the Durant and uh kawhile because Kawhi has
been heard the last few years. He's kind of not
the same guy, you know what I mean that.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
We see he hasn't been quite as dominant, but he
but he's earned this ship and he's playing great.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Yeah, he's earned it this time. And I think that's
what well, yeah, that's the part that I think that
is that if you're watching and you see where they
are and how they factor in and figure out, I
think that he's deserving.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
And Lebron obviously has played well, there's no way you
got two starters on that team. There's tenth seed right now,
you know. And Anthony Davis has been very good. Anthony
Davis top five in the league, rob in reboundy and blocks.
He's now their leading scorer twenty five points a game

(39:24):
over Lebron.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
And they just turned it around with the last three
wins because they were it was bad for a while. Yeah,
I mean they're kind of up and down. They'll have streaks.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
Obviously, a few weeks ago people were talking about Darvin
Ham's job being in trouble, and then they'll beat a
couple of good teams and then they'll kind of struggle.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
So they they've been really kind of like a roller
coaster at times.

Speaker 1 (39:47):
But overall, you know, there's just no way rob I
could put two starters from the tenth seed in my.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
I think that's fair.

Speaker 6 (39:57):
I do.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
I don't. I don't think that that. You know, some
people will go, how could.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
You do that? Really you're gonna pick I couldn't Lebron,
Like I said, A D's defense obviously is much better
than Lebron's at this point. And Golden State, no, steph.
But I think I hate that I had to leave
Anthony Edwards off. Would you put him above s g

(40:21):
A or Luca?

Speaker 3 (40:24):
No, yeah, I wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
I hate, but but he's he's a stud and we
know that. But but but the Golden State thing is
right though, Yeah, just that, look, he's playing great. He
probably will I don't know what the fans votes.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
Right, You're just talking about from your your Yeah, fans
going to vote Lebron and the fans are going to
vote what's called but step you know that, you know that,
But but that's not the that's not you looking at
it more objective than fans. Fans just picked their favorites.
All Lebron's on that voter fam That's right.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
I went in thinking I might have Luca as that
third front court guy with Anthony Davis and Jokic and
then Sga and Anthony Edwards as the guards.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
But like I said, they didn't give you that option,
so I had to make a choice.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
But in the East, Donovan Mitchell Halliburton was a definite,
but I thought it was between Mitchell, Maxie and Damian
Lillard and really Mitchell and Maxie.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
But Mitchell's been great man and he's carried the Calves.
I think they're the fourth seed now in the East,
so he's playing well. All right.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
It's the odd couple of Christ and Robs signing off
on a TV theme song Thursday, but keep it locked
here on Fox Sports Radio because Jason Smith and Mike
Harmon are next and they bring Hey
