Speaker 1 (01:13):
We got Eddie House, NBA Champion joining us at the
bottom of this hour obviously we'll be talking NBA with Eddie,
and that is where we're going to start now. If
you didn't see it, it was a great moment last
night at Madison Square Garden, and let's just keep it real.
A lot of the best moments in recent memory that
(01:36):
have been at the Garden rob have been other players.
It's been Trey Young going off on the Knicks. It's
been Reggie Miller coming back against the Knicks, Michael Jordan
some of his cover Lebron.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Yeah, right, eight points in eighteen seconds? Was it? I
saw a lot of memory, Anthony, Yeah, he did.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
He definitely did for other teams, not that there haven't
been any for the Knicks, but last night was a
great one. And Jalen Brunson, who my goodness, having a
tremendous year, will be an All Star for the first time.
Cuban might have blown it, well, we'll get into that,
but he led Indian or the Knicks to a one
(02:21):
oh nine, one oh five victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Rick or Jalen Brunson, his father Rick is on the
staff with the Knicks, and I covered Rick when he
was a player for the Knicks, and it wasn't didn't
play much, you know, but he was on the team
and Jalen Brunson goes for forty and Rob that was
(02:43):
the knicks ninth straight win. And they are balling now.
They they've been great since o Gianna Nobi joined them.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Gazoomtit. I'm shocked you. I was gonna say, I.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Heard, But Rob, they are the third seed in the
Eastern Conference. And obviously we have to wait and see
what the future holes for Joe LMB this season.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
But Philadelphia they've lost four straight.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Now they've won one, but they had lost four straight
within being struggling with the injuries. They're now the fifth seed,
and so the Knicks only a half game behind second
seed at Milwaukee, five games behind Boston. Like the question
that people in New York are wondering, or you know,
New Yorkers they're saying they are of this. But I
(03:35):
want to ask you, Rob, do you think these Knicks
are contenders to.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Win the East?
Speaker 4 (03:44):
I say no, that's my gut, Chris, because I still
think the teams ahead of them are better and have
better players. And as you know, in the playoffs in
the NBA, it's not winning one game. And I know
they've won nine in a row. And I'm not knocking
them and beating up some competition whatever.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Whoever they beat, they beat them.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
It's four out of seven, Chris, that's what separates you
in the NBA. Can you beat them four times? And
I think the Knicks are just below that.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I think that. I think that they're five through eight,
not one through four. I can't disagree. That's it.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
I'm not We're not We're not bashing them, no, no, everyone.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
I mean, come on, as good as Jalen Brunson is,
you don't think of him as the best player on
the championship team. All right, Milwaukee's got Yannis and Damian Lillard.
And even if you think Brunson is better than Dame
at this point, Dame is older, he's in his i
think his thirteenth year. He's still a really good player,
(04:57):
great player.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
But even if you.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Take Brunson over him, I mean, you got Giannis to
deal with, and Boston Tatum better than anybody on the Knicks.
Jalen Brown probably better than anybody on the Knicks, but
Jaylen Brown is their second guy. And then you got
Porzingis and Drew Holliday, who's a champion Derek White like
(05:20):
those teams are better now. Philly obviously Embiid is the
best player between the Knicks and the UH Sixers.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Let's assume in.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Beats healthy Tyres MAXI. You can are debate who's better
between him and Brunson, but Philly is mentally they have
not proven they're mentally tough enough to win anything. And
I think the Knicks are tough. And then you got Miami,
which we know is mentally tough. I don't care what
(05:49):
they're doing right now, They're gonna be a force to
be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Because we've seen it Chris twice in the last four years.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
I'll tell you what, Milwaukee don't want to see them
in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Milwaukee's open. Somebody else beats Miami. I guarantee you that.
Here's what I'll say Rob about the Knicks as well.
They remind me of your typical time Thibadeau team.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
And this is a compliment Thibodeau.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
I know he's had some rough years here and there
had a few rough years in Minnesota. Everything hasn't gone
swimming like he was going to get.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Fired with the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Christ right with that bad year, right, But this dude
is a good coach, and what his strength is is
he maximizes under talented teams. He will get you to
play hard, he will get you to defend, and he
will get you to play. If he has the right
(06:51):
type of players, he will get them to play to
the absolute peak of their ability in the record season.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
And I won't even say he doesn't do it in
the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
The fact is he has under talented teams, but they
look like an elite team in the regular season because
he gets them to play harder than everybody else. And Rob,
we saw it in Chicago, remember with Derek Rose and
then a bunch of good but not great players. You
(07:26):
had Derek Rose, then you had lou Al Dang, you
had Joe Kim Noah, really nice players, but pieces and
every Rose carried them offensively, and those dudes worked their
tails off.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
And that's what this Knicks team is.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
When that Rose team got to the playoffs, they had
beaten the Heat in the regular season, if I remember correctly,
and then Lebron and Wade beat them four to one
in the playoffs. This is what the Knicks are. I'm
not saying they and that team got to the.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Conference finals, those Bulls.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
So the Knicks can have a nice playoff run, but
at the end of the day, a more talented team
is going to take them out. Whether it's Milwaukee, whether
it's Boston or you know, Miami, would be a dog
fight because Miami.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Is not the most talented team in the you know
league either.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
So if it was one game, could they beat you
for one? Absolutely? Did it was one game? Could they
get to the finals?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Absolutely? A March Madness style thinks sure.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
But yeah, I mean that, Rob, And look this, and
I said this, Rob, you remember you might remember this about.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Two months ago, maybe months to two months ago.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Remember I said, for the Knicks to win a championship
at least as they're currently constructed. And this was before
they got on the NOBE. It was like, they're gonna
have to win it like Detroit won it four or
like Seattle one is seventy nine.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Where you're not the most talented.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
You don't have one transcendent superstar, which most championship teams do.
You just got like three or four really good players,
borderline stars, and a coach any given night.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
One of those guys and not relying on one guy
to be right. And number two, you said, well, coached
correct Larry Brown with that two thousand and four team, Chris,
And they played defense, They got stops, they got the
loose balls, they got the extra stuff like that is
(09:41):
how they were able to beat Kobe and Chak and
all the teams that they beat.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
They weren't the best team. They weren't like I'm talking
about talent.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
No, you're right, you're right, You're absolutely right. And they
what they also do, Rob, they played a slow pace.
You mentioned it, they held teams below seventy. Well, that
was the real Bad Boys. No, no, no, that was up Okay,
the Bad Boys remake remaps whatever.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
No, that was during the Brown era, Chris thirteen thirteen
straight games under seventy.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
These Knicks twenty seventh in the league in pace only
thirty teams defensively, their seventh offensively, their seventh in terms
of rating.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
So similar, and that's that's what they're doing. But generally this.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Is going to sputter out at some point in the playoffs.
Second third round of the playoffs. Let me say this right,
because you brought up Dick Mark Cuban, make a mistake
with Rick with Jalen Brunson absolutely, of course, because remember
what did Brunson want, Rob.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
G was it? Was it fifty million?
Speaker 1 (10:47):
At one point they wouldn't give him a fifty million,
like four years fifty million or something like that.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Three years fifty million.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
They could have got him for that. He obviously ended
up getting about one hundred with the Knicks Chris four
years fifty five and a half million, and they think
about no, They.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Said, no way, no how, and look at what's going
on looking now.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
But here's what I'm gonna say, Rob, And you know,
I am a Luka Doncic fan. I think the boy
is bad. I've called him Luca legendsins he got in
the league. But Rob, I've been beating this drum and
I hope people listen, particularly people in Dallas or in
Luca's camp. We didn't know Rick, Jyleen Brunston had this.
(11:30):
We didn't know Jalen Brunston could cook like this. Why
didn't we know? Because Luca always had the rock. Jalen
Brunson is a dude that needs the ball in his
hand so he can do his thing too. And the
only time you got to see Jalen Brunson cook was
(11:51):
when Luca was on the bench, or if they happened
to be out there together and Jalen had it going,
Luca would be just kind of standing and watching. That's
going to be a problem in Dallas, and it already is.
When Kyrie's cooking, Luca's watching, whether he's sitting on the
bench or standing on the wing.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
They've got Luca.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
I don't know if it's him or if it's the scheme,
but he doesn't know how to play without.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
The basketball in his hands, or at least he doesn't
do it they.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Time, No, Chris, No, people are saying he's like James Harden.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
And what has that gotten James Harden? Right, you're a
great individual, but in no rings And.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
So the fact that like Jalen Rob, Jalen Bronson wouldn't
be doing this in Dallas.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
No, No, he wouldn't, right, I agree with that.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
But the idea that they passed on him for such
a little bit of money, to be honest, NBA standard,
that's a big, huge miss, right, That's a swing myssake.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Can you imagine if you had him at that salary?
What else? That's a swing and a miss?
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Absolutely, So, yeah, that's what we think of the Knicks, Rob,
but let's throw it out to the listeners. A seven
seven ninety nine on Fox A seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine. Do you think the Knicks
are actually contenders? Can they win the Eastern Conference? Your
thoughts next, Chris and Rob, they couple of plus you

Your thoughts?
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Thanks for that, Alex a little James Brown, the Black
Soul Black History monks say.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Aloud, I'm black and I'm proud. Love that song. Thank you.
Let's go here we go, Greg and Long Beach. You're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Greg?
Speaker 7 (15:22):
How y'all doing man?
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Great man? How are you?
Speaker 7 (15:26):
I'm doing good?
Speaker 8 (15:27):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (15:27):
I think the Knicks Day probably couldn't stand.
Speaker 9 (15:29):
In the East.
Speaker 7 (15:31):
They might have a little trouble. I will say maybe
maybe Milwaukee because it's because you're honest, But I mean
they are young and fighting idea and Jalen Brunh said
he's a dog keeping a dog from Dellanova and Dallas
definitely made a bad choice to give him up. They
all had to do is give him a little cheap bag.
Speaker 9 (15:50):
And that's it.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Well, I also will say this isn't true for everybody,
and obviously the most just freakishly talented guys Leeve after
a year or two in college, but he stayed.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
He stayed for I believe four years at.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
Why people believe in him. And he was the second
round pick, wasn't he? I don't know if he was
second record or late it might have been. I think
he might have been second round.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
I think he was.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
But yeah, the guys, they mature, not only physically but mentally.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
He played three years of Villanova. They mature Chris late
first the second round, so second word pick. There is
such a non guaranteed contract. Yep, yep, yep.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Good for him, all right, Mark in Sacramento, you're on
the couple of Fox Sports Radio what's happening, Mark?
Speaker 5 (16:42):
What's going on? Gentlemen? And cut you guys during the day.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Weird? Great man?
Speaker 5 (16:45):
How are you great? And finally, I want to give
Alex some credit for going beyond the Cretan going down
and it doesn't to pull out the god.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
No doubt Mark. Mark. Let me tell you this.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
There was a lawyer in New York, Chris I Care
remember the lawyer, and anytime there was any kind of
case that dealt with race or something like, one of
the questions he would ask the jury of non black
people who they're going to put on the jury was
who's the godfather of soul?
Speaker 10 (17:15):
And if they didn't know the answer with James Brown,
they would be disqualified. That was the question to disqualify
the question. That's pretty good, right, who's the godfather of sould?
If they didn't know who he was, they were like, okay,
you can't.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Be on the jury.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Right One more quick, quick note, Alex, if you can
dig out Papa, don't take no mess and play out
one at one point, yeah, that's.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Pretty much the godfather of hip. Yes, because they sampled
the heck they sampled all his music.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, real quick. I actually communication to
Rob when the trade happened, and I thought that, Anna,
we fit perfectly defensively with with the what kids likes
to do. That dude likes to play defensive. Love those guys,
so he was gonna fit there. But I also said,
also said they weren't. They were piece missing, And I said,
(18:06):
wait till the trade, dadline, maybe another step might happen,
which is in six days, So let's see if there's another.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
They have a lot of assets.
Speaker 9 (18:14):
As see.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
You have to see that one more, one more quick thing, Chris,
And that the most impressive thing I was, uh uh
performance I've seen by a team all year, the Clippers
dismantling Boston and Boston on the second back, the second
out of a back to back, from start to finish.
That was impressive. And I want to hear what Eddie
House has to say about that.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Yeah, incredibly healthy. They're gonna be a force to be
reckoned with now that they are, They're gonna be a problem.
If they're healthy, they're gonna be tough, no doubt, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Let's go to uh Will in Wisconsin. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
What's up Will?
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Good evening?
Speaker 11 (18:54):
Gentlemen, I'm glad to see you guys survive the skills
competition as well.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Uh he maybe.
Speaker 11 (19:02):
Yeah, yeah, was that all?
Speaker 1 (19:05):
But hey, that's better than them going out there and
playing that game, I.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Don't playing dodgeball or something.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Yeah, I mean, my god.
Speaker 11 (19:15):
But this next team reminds me of that young cores
that the Lakers had, uh the year of the years
before they got the Lebron and A or just say
a D and Lebron. But they remind me of that
core of of Ingram and Russell and uh and Julius
Randall there. I think Kus is a part of that too,
(19:36):
But I think they're all young pieces. I think they're
coming together. I don't think they're in a place right
now in the playoffs, like you gitlemen were mentioning in
a series, you know, going up against a team like Milwaukee,
Let's say they get well, they wouldn't be matched against them,
maybe early, but let's say it came down you know,
maybe that next second round there in the playoffs. They
don't have it yet to outlast your defensive effort by Brett,
(19:58):
you know Lopez, and I know Dame doesn't really do
that like that, but They're just not there yet.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
I gotta ask you, what what the Lakers with Julius
Randall and D'Angelo Russells.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
How did they remind you of them? They weren't any good?
Did we lose it?
Speaker 8 (20:22):
You know?
Speaker 3 (20:22):
I mean I didn't get that that.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Come on, man, compare them to somebody that that's a
pretty good team. All right, it's the OCAP. We got
our man, Eddie House coming up. Eddie House is around
the corner.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search
FSR to listen live.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
He's an NBA champion.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Fox Sports Radio NBA analyst calls games for the Boston Celtics.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Our main man, Eddie House. E House. What up? Many, yo?
Speaker 11 (20:59):
Was?
Speaker 9 (21:00):
What's handing?
Speaker 3 (21:01):
We're good man?
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Let's start in New York. The Knicks winners of nine straight.
I think they've only lost two since Ogianu Noobi joined them.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
He's obviously hurt right now. It was fifteen and two
in January.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
So yeah, they've been playing great and Jalen Brunson, you know,
playing out of his mind. Do you think that they
are actually legitimate Eastern Conference contenders like to win the East.
Speaker 8 (21:28):
Well, the way the Easter's going right now, you gotta
you gotta look at them as a team that can
compete and possibly get to the conference finals. If you
get the conference finals, who got a chance to win it?
Because you can't win unless you win it. So I
would say yes, Tims has them playing phenomenal basketball. They
believe it, and they're leaning into their the defensive.
Speaker 9 (21:50):
Side of the ball. And more importantly, I think Jalen
Brunton has took a step and has extended to the
face of that franchise where everybody pretty much thought it
was like Julius Randall's team. Is not Julius Randall's team.
This is Jalen Brunson's team, and he's leading them. And
he does not disappoint this night in the night out
he does. He's just a steady point guard and he's
(22:15):
a throwback to the old school point guards, but also
brinkle in some of that new school where he man,
he'll go get buckets, but he also can control the
tempo for you. Not the greatest defender, but he works
and you could you know, you got other guys behind him.
But for the most part, I think that the mix
that they have over there what they're doing, and they're
(22:35):
believing in in what they're doing, and they believe in
their leader, Jalen Brunston.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Let me ask you this about Jalen. Now we all
know he was in Dallas, and you didn't see this.
I mean, obviously he has some nice games. He cooked
a little bit when Luca was on the bench typically
and he came in and could run that second unit.
I think, and I'm a huge Luca but I think
(23:02):
they got a big issue in that he is dominating
the ball too much, and a guy like a Jalen
Brunson who's there doesn't really get to shine because Luca
always has. About now, Kyrie obviously has a reputation coming
into Dallas, he's getting to shine. But when he's got
the ball and doing this thing, Luca's kind of just
(23:23):
standing there watching. You know, some people are comparing him
to James Harden in that regard. I think they gotta
get an offense where they're moving. You know, Luca's learning
to play without the ball, and I get it if
he doesn't understand that right now or know how to
do it. But if they're gonna win at a high level,
I think they need to do that because just as
they didn't do it with Jalen, I don't think they're
(23:46):
getting the most out of their other players outside of
Luca maybe Kyrie.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
What are your thoughts on that?
Speaker 9 (23:54):
Well, it's very interesting and knowledgeable facts that you said,
and a great take on what you're talking about. But
Luca is the system. So it's like with Lebron. You know,
I heard you a million I heard you a million
times say that Lebron is the system. Well, I mean
lucas the system. So it's not going to be a
(24:16):
change in that dynamic. You know, He's going to be
the system over there because of how great he is.
It's hard to take him away from what he does
so good, right, and it does limit some of the
other players and things like that, But still you would
take Luca being Luca who he is and hope that
everybody else could fall in line. And I'm not talking
(24:38):
about Kyrie, Irvin. I think that they've done a great
job being able to play off each other this year, especially,
you know, after having some time under their belt and
playing together to understand how to play off of each
other because it always takes time to adjust to that,
especially with guys that need the ball and play and
play similar styles. But I mean, I don't don't think
(25:00):
that you can't. You can't ask Luca to not be
Luca because then that's what you're asking him to do.
So now if you ask him to do something that
he's not, will he be successful and will the team
be successful if he doesn't do it, well.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
I guess if they can't win big him doing being himself,
then there's an issue, right, I mean, it's not about
just the regular season, right, it would be like, can
you win this way if he's that ball dominant?
Speaker 9 (25:29):
You know what, Rob that's a good that's a great question.
But on this side of it, though, there's only one
team that could win, right, and we've seen Lebron be
able to do it, you know what I mean? So
and it wasn't you know, it took some time for
that to happen, right, So I mean if it never happens,
then yeah, you could, you're gonna look back and say that.
(25:50):
But you can't just be like, hey, we can't mess
with that talent. We can't we can't flirt let that
talent be that talent, and we can't try to hold
that back. We got to you know, kind of push
towards that and lean in with him, and he also
has to lean in with us. And when we're looking
at what we're trying to build over here. And I
think it's not like Luca's selfish, it's just the way
(26:11):
he plays. So you have to build a team around
him if that's what you're gonna do. If I just.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Don't think we've.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
I don't think we've seen that win like Lebron. The
difference in Luca and Lebron is that and you know this,
you were a teammate of his. Lebron could also really
impact the game defensively, and you you were there when Wade,
you know, like Wade after that first year together step back.
But Lebron only won it with another like go get her,
(26:43):
it was Wade, or it was Kyrie and then Anthony
Davis and Luca. I mean, he's got Kyrie, but Luca
doesn't impact the game defensively.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
But let's let's move on. I want I want to
ask a question.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Okay, Boston, last night, what was that?
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Was that?
Speaker 4 (27:02):
Just no A d I mean I know that the
Lakers shot the heck out of the ball from three,
and you know, they got off to a great start
and they never really uh, you know, stop shooting threes
and making them. But my point is, is that a
case where you see two of the best players on
playing and you let your guard down?
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Or what was that last night for the Celtics at home?
Speaker 9 (27:25):
I think this is what it was, right And I
was in the buildings last night and I watched that game.
They turned the ball over, They came out half step
and now was that the Noel Lebron and no Idea effect,
because think about a Christmas date went into La mopped
them with them two guys. Now, my thing is this,
(27:46):
if that is an effect, to me, that's an issue.
That's a problem that has to get fixed. Of playing
down to the level of your competition. Remember when you
were just to look at those starting lineups pay for
the paper, you'd be like, ain't no way that this
team is gonna be. But what happened. One team came
out playing extremely hard. The other team didn't play hard,
(28:08):
and then they played uphill the whole game. They turned
the basketball over. And that's an indictment on the fact
of Hey, every single game matters, and it doesn't matter
who you're playing. So I would say that I give
credit to the Lakers for coming out and playing how
they played. Now, with that being said, I got something
for y'all and let me know what y'all think about this.
(28:31):
Was this a showcase for those other players while Lebron
and ad set out on national TV? Because the trade
deadline is coming up and we've seen the hour glasses cryptic,
we don't know what that means? Is that Darvin Ham?
Does that mean other players are that thing?
Speaker 5 (28:46):
You know?
Speaker 9 (28:46):
So with that being said, d Lo goes out there
and has a hell of a game. Austin Reeves, I
don't think he's tradeable. I don't think they're gonna trade him.
But Hottimore, Vanderbilt, d Lo, all those guys are up.
They could get traded. And Torriing Prince I believe too.
Those guys can all get traded. They all played extremely
(29:07):
well last night. That's a showcase for somebody else thinking
like that.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Eddie's that's that's good. I like that.
Speaker 9 (29:13):
Also, Also, was this was this the other thing? We
not messing with Darvin Ham. We want him out of here,
so we're not playing in this game, you know, and
so we think we might lose, but then guys step up.
So you get a double win. No matter what, you
get a double win. We sit back. We you know, okay,
now we got an opportunity to trade some guys. If
(29:34):
they get blowout and Darvin Ham's out the building, probably
I got to bed the next couple of days.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
I don't think their role players are I think their
role players are actually a good I mean it's the
same group essentially that got them to help them get
to the Western Conference finals. And I think Eddie shipping
out three role players and bringing two or three back,
I don't think that's gonna make that much of a difference.
Everybody was raving about hot Chamu last year, and everybody
(30:01):
he is this he low yeah, d Low giving you
seventeen and six or not.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Like I.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I think they got a number one in a d
who's great, but his mentality is the number two.
Speaker 9 (30:15):
He's not an out, not a number one, right, not
a number one. He's got a number one game, but
he don't have a mental one.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
Well, Lebron thirty.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Nine, but Lebron thirty nine and ain't giving you nothing defensively.
Speaker 9 (30:28):
Those numbers are.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
But what, okay, your thirty nine year old number one,
you're not going very far. That's what I think because
Lebron's numbers aren't right. He's not the everybody's looking at
his numbers saying these are his career numbers.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
He's still the same, you know, not just saying you know,
he ain't say and yeah, that's the thing.
Speaker 9 (30:49):
I don't believe that Lebron is the same. But he
still is playing at a hot He's.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Still good, especially for he's the best thirty nine year
old we've ever seen.
Speaker 9 (30:57):
But I just don't still say top a top twenty
player in the league right now.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Yeah, I'll give you top twenty.
Speaker 9 (31:04):
I'll give you top yeah, I mean easily.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
But let me ask you this, because you're talking about Boston.
What was more I think last night was just they
took them lightly. They find themselves in the game and
they got no rhythm and the you know, the like
you said, the Lakers, other players are excited because they
getting some shots up right, they can shine. What was
more alarming to me with the Celtics, Eddie was the
(31:29):
loss to the Clippers just not you know, last week
or so.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
They got undressed in that game. Yeah, and that and
obviously you know they were up for that game.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
So what do you think tell me about that game,
but also what do you think about the Clippers.
Speaker 9 (31:45):
Well, I'll talk about what I think about the Clippers. First.
I think that with when Russell said, hey, I'm gonna
take a step back, and I think that was a
professional move and that was the best move that could
happen because it allowed the chemistry for everything else to
happen and nobody clashing with each other. I think that
you have two premier defenders on the perimeter that could
(32:10):
get down at any moment, and then they also could
close games if they need to close games. And then
you got James Harden to orchestrate or he could also
close games if he needs to offensively, and then Russ
comes in. Russ is to me the X factor for that.
Also with Tylo Tylu, you know, making the right decisions,
pressing the right buttons, all of those things. I was
(32:32):
one that said I didn't think that it would work
because I thought they were going to try to mix
all four of those guys together. But the way that
they have staggered those minutes and they have different combinations
of them playing together and at different times, and that's Tylo,
that's the X factor from Tylu. But I thought that
Russ taking a step back was a professional move, a
(32:55):
big time professional move, and it just shows to his
dedication to trying to actually win where people had kind
of discredit the fact of the competitor that is. And
you know, and I always defended Russ with that because
I know what he went out there and how hard
he played and things like that. So getting to the
game against the Celtics, they came out there and smacked
(33:18):
him right And the reason why they smacked there was
no adjustments. I don't think the Celtics made one adjustment
in that game. They continued to play the same exact way.
And I will give Joe Missoula a lot of credit
this year because of this. I've seen him make those adjustments.
I've seen him do different things that he didn't do
last year. And last year was his first time. I'm
(33:39):
quite sure when you guys had the first time on
your job, whatever job it was that you did, and
even what you're doing right now the first year, you're
a whole lot better right now.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
That very was a mess. Terror Rob was a mad
was awful. But what I'm saying we feel we gotta run.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
We got a break, but we agree with you on
that great stuff.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Man, have a great weekend.
Speaker 9 (34:05):
All right, man, y'all take care Man, be cool.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Yep, morocouple coming your way.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
Rob Let's go to the NFL and.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
Tua Tongue of Viola, who had a fantastic season or
a very good season, made the Pro Bowl in the
AFC for the Miami Dolphins. Isn't up for a contract,
but they he's got one more year left on this deal,
but they can obviously sign him to a contract, and
(35:21):
there reports out saying that talks are ongoing and Tua
does expect a new deal next season with the Dolphins.
I am on the record as saying I would I
would just let him play this out. I want to
see one more season. This is the first time he's
really been healthy through a full season, and so I
(35:46):
would want to see him play another year and be
healthy and play at a high level before I give
him the huge money.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
Where are you at on this? Yeah, I'm with the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
If you believe in him, you see what he's been
able to do, work ethic, how he relates to his teammates.
If you believe he's that guy and people follow him,
the longer you wait, it's gonna.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Cost you more.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
And I just it's either because to me, it's whether
you you believe in him or not. Like the other
stuff I hear you about the health and all that,
you could sign him, wait till next year. It could
be healthy and then get hurt.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
So I mean but that, but no, But I'm not
saying layers aren't injury bro.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
No, But I'm just there's no difference between Anthony Davis saying,
I don't know, but I'm just saying, like, but you know,
I mean, at some point you have to make a
there's no difference.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
And I think I think that this year he was
able to stay healthy and that was big because of
what happened last year and there was a lot of
questions about concussions and all that, and he was able
to weather the storm last year.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
I thought that was a big step.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
Had he gotten hurt Chris at any point last year,
then I would buy into your argument about another year.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Yeah, I need to see more. And I think he's
a very good quarterback.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
I'm not sure I want to pay make him the
highest paid or you know, right up there among the
highest paid quarterbacks in the league. And you're right, eventually
it might cost you more money, like the longer you wait.
So I get that. I'm just not completely sold on tour.
It's my thing, and I think he's good right now.
(37:23):
I don't think he's great, and I'd like to see
one more year. Yeah, of course, stay healthy, but I
just want to see one more year and see what
level he plays at. They got chalacked by the good
teams in the league, Shellac.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
And two is not good in cold weather.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
I think he's winless in cold weather, which you're gonna
have to play at in the playoffs in the AFC
playing and so I want to see improvement from him
as well as staying healthy before I would give him
like a five year, you know, two hundred and seven
twenty five million dollar deal or whatever the going rate
(38:02):
will be. We'll see what they do. I would not
be surprised if they don't end up extending him, uh,
you know, with a huge deal. I just got a
feeling that they might go that route as well. I
expect I expect him to sign him to a deal.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
I just do. Yeah, what do you like so much
about him?
Speaker 4 (38:23):
I'm just saying I think it's the team and the players,
and I think that's what it is, and and his
communication or a relationship with the coach, because there's a
lot of factors that go into it, and the reason
why teams are more apt to do it is they
got a feel for the player and they feel like
he's a part of this. People buying to him, winning
(38:44):
the room. All those things have to work, as well
as playing on the field. He didn't lose all the
games by hisself, and he didn't win all the games
by hisself, so there's some other issues that have to
be worked out, but I think it's more about that,
do you believe in the god it go? Did the
guys show you he has talent? And do the do
his teammates believe in him?
Speaker 3 (39:05):
All right?
Speaker 1 (39:05):
Speaking of belief in Jim Harr, Hardball certainly believes in
his Chargers,
