All right, Rob, interesting talk, you know obviously.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
You get long interviews with Lebron and Steph and Adam
Silver and a lot of the faces of the NBA
and one of the topics was with Lebron James number one,
but also Steph Curry, Kevin Durant.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
You know, the guys that have been.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
The superstars of the league for in Lebron's case, the
past two decades, but certainly for the last decade, they've
been the face of the league. They're obviously older in
the tooth and longer in the tooth, I should say,
and they're going to be.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Retiring at some point.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
And so the question of who is the next face
or who will be the next face of the NBA
was that being asked, Rob?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
And you know, there's no clear cut answer at this point.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I feel like I feel like the guy that will
take it. Uh, I have one in my mind that
I think clearly will be. But what what are your
thoughts on this? You think there's a challenge for the
league and finding that next face or somebody emerging, because
(02:27):
really it should be somebody emerging, you know, it shouldn't
be forced nobody. Dwayne Wade just kind of came out,
you know, out of not nowhere, but you know, nobody
expected that from him.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Heck, to be.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Honest, Rob, people didn't expect Michael Jordan to be Michael Jordan.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
I said, I said all the time, right, they Michael
Jordan took a cab from the airport.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
What he was drafted? Nobody nobody believes that.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
Like what, No, it was a different Chris, it was
a different world, you know that.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
It just.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
I tell people all the time. I used to fly
on the commercial flights. They used to be in the
airports with the regular people fly into game after games,
six am flights, right, you were charged when by the
time you got you.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Didn't fly with them. But they were charter flights. But
they didn't fly commercial.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Right, Chris, they flew commercial.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Where I'm sitting next to Sam Buie, who's the next center,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Like, that's great though as a report, it was the.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Best I got to know them. I got to know them.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
And we're waiting down for our luggage at the at
the you know, at the rat Chris standing there talking. Uh.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
We used to go out to lunch. We'd be in
the city together.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
We used to just all leave on the first flight,
even though we weren't you know, we weren't really with them,
but that was just in order to get to the
next city. You would always take the first flight out
because you know, it's wintertime, it's the Midwest.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
You're going to Milwaukee.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
You couldn't afford for your flight to be late, you
know what I mean, or canceled, and then you can't
get to the next city. So we were on all
these flights together. Then you could camaraderie taking them.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
We used to.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
We used to take the team bus from the hotel
over to the arena. You know what time is the
first bus, what time is the bus to the to
the game? And the writers would get on that bus
with them. That's how it was.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
A totally different it was. It wasn't even like that
when I cover No.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
But we used to get on the bus Chris and
and I'd sit there or whatever, and the players respected
the writers were on the bus. It was no big deal.
It really wasn't like now like there we would be
like kryptonite. Oh my god, I don't want to be.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
On the bus. I mean it's been the case for
three decades now.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
You can't watch practice, Yeah, we used to watch Get
In for the Christ.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
We used to watch practice.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah yeah, back then.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
But uh yeah, I don't think that it could be
force fed. I think it has to be someone that emerges,
But a lot of it has to do with winning
who uh you start to see uh in the postseason, know,
having success. There's a lot of different things that you know,
(05:04):
go into it. I don't know if anybody who's ever
been really hand picked and he's just that guy.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
It's an electricity about you.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
It's something about you where people gravitate to you and
then you want to follow their journey. Even if when
Lebron first came you thought he would win Chris eventually, right,
but you knew he was a special player. It's kind
of guys like that, and then you start following it
and hope that he can, you know, eventually cash in.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Michael Jordan was special.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
We talked about the All Star Game when the when
the players kind of froze Michael Jordan out in the
All Star Game. They felt the league was pushing Michael
right right, and Isaiah was there and Bird and Magic
were like, wait a minute, you know, like hey, like
but this kid Jordan, they're pushing, so we're gonna like
put a kay Bosch on that. And that little bump
(05:56):
in the road wasn't gonna stop Michael Jordan because he
had he was a special player. And then once he
started winning this through the roof.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
It was over right.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
I think, Rob, the guy that's going to be the
next face of the league is Victor win Binyama. Really,
and I mean I don't think that's I mean, you
sound surprised. I don't think that's going out on a limb. Yeah,
I think the dude. I mean, I think it's clear
he's special. And I got to be honest, like, I'm
(06:32):
no doctor, but he doesn't seem to have any health issues,
you know, beyond just anything nor any player could get.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
And I don't like the fact that.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
The Spurs, Rob are holding the dude to like twenty
eight minutes a game. I mean, it's just I feel
like and I don't I don't think he likes That's
just my opinion. I don't think he likes it. But Rob,
he's averaging twenty points, ten rebounds, more than three blocks
(07:06):
in uh twenty eight minutes a game. What rookie plays
twenty eight minutes a game. I mean, a rookie that's
a star or budding star. Come on, it's just ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
But isn't that isn't that?
Speaker 5 (07:23):
I mean, Chris, I think they're baby and him too,
But yeah, aren't they looking at what has happened to
other big guys like that even though he hasn't had
the same issues.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
What would be the only other reason to do that? Well,
it's I'm.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
The Spurs way. There's only one two guys. Well, a
couple guys are playing, three guys are playing more minutes
than him, but they're all at twenty nine minutes. Devin
Vessel leads the team thirty one point seven minutes.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
That's the Spurs way. That's what it is.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
It wasn't their way when they drafted Tim Duncan, but
over time that became their way, and that's what it is.
There's no other reason but that. But bottom line is
I think he'll be the next face.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Let me ask you about his personality because I don't
know it.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah, I mean, do you know what, I don't know
anything other than what we see, you know, and maybe
some interviews and things like that.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
He seems to have personality.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
He's you know, he's been you know, roomed if you will,
for his whole life to be in the NBA and
get ready for the NBA. But what you bring up
is interest in rob because you know, I used to
think an international.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Player couldn't be the face of the league.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
I don't think that anymore because they're clearly most of
them are.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
They're most of the best.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
Players, but they don't but by choice though, you won't
have a choice like like you won't have a choice
because the top four or five players are international. And Chris,
we could say that you you said before, sure would
baseball love to have a player from the United States
be the guy making seven hundred million dollars, of course, but.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Otani is the face. There's no way around it.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
And he's international. He right, Japanese and when he signed,
it was a big deal and everybody was in and
you got a lot of people in Japan and a
lot of Asian people who love this guy. Fifty reporters
Chris cover him every day. Not the Dodgers. They cover
Otani right right. That's that's the He's the face of baseball.
(09:35):
I could see you all day and.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
It's it's interesting now of the international guys, rob when
you talk about Jokic can't really be the face.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
He just doesn't have the personality.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Not that it's a bad personality, but you know, he
just isn't that outgoing, at least as far as courting
attention and press and things like that. He seems like
he's got a really good personality, but you know, he's
just not. It's not him. He doesn't really care about
that stuff. I think Joe l mb rob has the personality.
(10:14):
The question with Joel is can he stay healthy? He's
hurt right now, and can he win? You know, he's
been in the league now good several years and.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
It's had some good teams and teammates and hing's happened.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
And still hasn't won.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
So that's what's working against him.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Luca has the game.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I guess with Luca Rob it's just about could he
will he start winning?
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Because you gotta win to.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Be the face of the league, right and you know
it because I'll give you an example and you might
remember this. There was a time the league was kind
of pushing Shack when he was in Orlando. Oh yeah, right,
and then they were this is before they finally get
to the finals against the Rockets, but they were Shack
was going home come playoff time.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
You could do.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
You can't push that narrative if he's not even in
the playoffs. You remember that, Oh yeah, No, I remember. Yeah,
So I think that it's it can't be forced, and
winning is very important. You could be a great player
and all that, and if your team is that home
come postseason, it's hard to put you out there like
(11:22):
you're the best guy or you're you're the we're flying
the mantle in the flag with you.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Of the American guys, Rob, I mean, Joe obviously is
taking himself out of it. Jason Tatum maybe if they
were to win the championship, he could be.
Speaker 5 (11:39):
But something, there's something, there's something missing for Jason Tatum, Chris,
because I just look at it from this standpoint and
I know they haven't won, but they've won a lot.
He's got a great smile, he's a good looking guys,
the energetic, exciting game, he has everything you would think, right,
what is he missing?
Speaker 2 (11:59):
I think it's just. I think it's just.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
That we know, as good as he is, as great
as he is, he's a tier below that upper echelon.
He's just, you know, I think that's I think the
same thing goes for Donovan Mitchell. You know, these guys
are great, but you know they're they're a tier below
(12:27):
the Jokiches, the Yannises, the MBIs, the Lucas, and so
it's gonna take winning for them to become the face
of the league as good as they are so out
of the America, I mean, Zion obviously is kind of
taking himself out of the I think Anthony Edwards rob.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Is a guy.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
That could could become that of the American players. He
would be a guy. Look, he's got a great person personality.
He's you know, I don't know if you ever saw
the movie Hustle, I know it was in it, right, Yeah,
he was great. He kind of stole the should to
some degree, even though he wasn't like the star of it.
(13:14):
His game is fantastic. He plays on both ends of
the floor, plays hard, got a great smile and you know,
again you gotta win. But right now they're right there
around the top of the Western Conference. So if they
were to start winning, his game is you know, jumps
out at you.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
I mean, it's great rookie year.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
You remember, we thought he should have been rookie.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
He should yup over a LaMelo. And obviously he's become
the better player. But I think he would be my
pick for American, Like of the guys in the league
right now, the young guys, he would be my pick
of the Americans. And I say win Banyama overall of
all the players, all right, eight seven seven ninety nine
(13:57):
on a Fox eight seven seven.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Nine sixty three sixty nine. We throw it out to
you guys.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
What's Lebron and Steph and Kad and these guys are gone?
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Who will emerge.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
As the next face of the NBA among the guys
in the league? Now, who do you think are the
best candidates for that? I say win Banyama overall of
the American players. I got Anthony Edwards your thoughts next.

over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything. Honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have

called over promise. You should be good at it because
you've been over promising women for years. Well, it's a
Covino and Rich after show, and we want you to
(15:07):
be a part of it. We're gonna be talking sports,

Speaker 1 (15:40):
All right, it's the couple, Christ and Rob live fromthetirereg
dot Com Studios eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Six sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
You turn the way in who could be the next
face of the NBA.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
What are your thoughts?
Speaker 1 (16:01):
I say win Benyama, and as an American, I'd go
with Anthony Edwards, who say you all right?
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Kevin and Culver City, You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up?
Speaker 7 (16:11):
Cav God is good?
Speaker 2 (16:13):
What's up Fellers?
Speaker 8 (16:15):
I'm doing great?
Speaker 7 (16:17):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (16:17):
Internationally, I got an interesting one. Shai gillis Alexander. He's
already done a Skins campaign with Kim Kardashian. He's got
the looks, he's been in LA, he's marketable, and he's
he might be all be the best player in the
NBA as a scorer. And the team's winning. So that's
internationally I agree with you. USA. Nationally is Anthony Edwards.
(16:40):
I call him Denzel Washington. I take don't take this
the wrong way. Don't take it the wrong way. How
do you mind me of when Michael Jordan's first started
out on Chicago. He was on a Midwest team, but
he had a basketball game that you like to watch
with the athleticism. If he if he figures out how
to actually completely play as a basketball player, I see
a Michael Jordane similarity I see an he campaign behind him.
(17:01):
It's definitely Anthony Edwards. He's got the looks, he's got
the charisma, and he's got the game.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Those take the.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Leader and he loves to play. Chris Edie loves to play.
Speaker 8 (17:10):
Yeah, he loves to play.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
He loved and he.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Plays with a jewel.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
What a shot?
Speaker 3 (17:15):
What a shock?
Speaker 5 (17:16):
A twenty three year old wants to play basketball? Wow right,
it's so refreshing that he wants to.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
That could work in his favorite I mean it shouldn't
be unusual, but.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
He said it great. Haven't you heard his quotes? People
paid money to come see me play. I'm playing?
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, absolutely, I love it.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
Joel Game, I know Joel and Dallas. You're in the
couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
What's up John?
Speaker 9 (17:42):
What have my guys? The real uncles of the airwaves
are doing?
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Were good, buddy? How are you hey?
Speaker 7 (17:48):
Doing well?
Speaker 9 (17:48):
Just Sharon Dallas?
Speaker 10 (17:50):
Hey man?
Speaker 9 (17:50):
But I agree with Chris now, it has to be
Anthony Elwicks this. Uh, he was out of this summer.
Let's we haven't forgotten like this summer with the Olympics.
He an alpha. He showed that and then I feel
like in Minnesota, those bigs, Like I feel like he's
in that Kobe zone where if he just had like
a big like Shaq, he could really show what, you know,
what he was made of.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
But I mean, I feel like, say, right exactly, I
know that's a.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Bad and he does have Carlin.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I mean, they're not shocked, but Carl Anthony Towns and
Rudy Gobert that's pretty goods.
Speaker 9 (18:23):
And the internationally, I mean, I'm here in Dallas and
I see Luca playoffs the time. But his comp is
like Devin Booker with how they're just so stoic and
they can score. You know, they both went for seventy points.
But I just feel like he's just so stoked. He
doesn't play that defense that you have to play to
be a winner, and especially how you won't get off
the basketball as well. But now it's definitely Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 11 (18:43):
I feel like that toom and then he.
Speaker 9 (18:44):
Can have a Kawhi act as well. I feel like
he could go to Toronto and really I feel like
if he had that opportunity later in his career, I
feel like he could do that as well. So I
think it's Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 7 (18:55):
No doubt.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
All right, Thanks Joel, appreciate you. Thank you.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
Markcremento, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
What's up, Mark? How are you?
Speaker 7 (19:05):
I'm doing well, Rob. I think you know who I'm
getting ready to say.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (19:11):
I've been driving that man bus for a couple of
years now, so you know I think he has complete package.
But I agree with you in one aspect. When when
this the generation we see now after Lebron step guys
step out, I think he's gonna be come down to
which one wins first, because as soon as they win,
now they step into the spotlight. Which one of these
(19:31):
young guys is gonna step up and win first? I
think it's gonna be Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
You you really do you think Anti I don't won
an NBA championship.
Speaker 7 (19:39):
I think from what I'm saying and I heard, I
hear guys. I heard Perk this morning. I hear you
guys to them, Kevin Wilds still doesn't lave in Minnesota question.
I'm going, wait a minute, those guys don't even watch
West Coast basketball because they go to bed before those
games come on. I know that they're not standing up
till one point thirty. I'm watching those dudes. I've been
telling you guys, aunt Man has been the I told
(20:01):
this to Rob. I watched him from the fevers like
they have the caller. From the fevers to now. He's
been the most consistent guy on a trajecty going up
and up and up, and he's taking those other guys
with him, making them better.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
He's making He's been the driving force between behind Minnesota, Serge.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
There's no doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Cat's been there and now getting a leader, a guy
that plays with his force on both ends of the floor.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Like, Nah, the dude is great.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
It could be him.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
It could definitely be him.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
All right, Thanks, Mark, appreciate the insight. Dre in Massachusetts.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Drake,
what's going on?
Speaker 10 (20:42):
Thanks for taking the call. Listen, we got to make
it unanimous in terms of Anthony Edwards and the potential
and the upside of this young man. We're seeing glimpses.
He has the explosiveness of a Michael Jordan, Right, that's
what we learned from the last dance. Right when the
Bulls people saw Michael Jordans three days and practice, they
(21:02):
went to the front office and said, listen, you guys
got the draft right. We can see it clearly, but
was distinctive about it. We can't we can't go there,
you know, we can't put him on on Mount ever
rest Or or even make that connection that that that's
far too much of that happening. But Anthony Edwards he
only had the one year of college, remember, coming out
of Georgia, right, so he his first couple of years
(21:22):
in the league has taken him some time. It's taking
Minnesota sometime. That go Bear trade is now starting to
pay dividends. But so his trajectory, it's gonna it's gonna
take him a little bit longer. But we're seeing that
he's about that life. He means business. This guy, he
has his Q rating. The reason he's gonna be the
face the league is because he has great personality, you know,
coming from this the South, you know, played multiple you know,
(21:45):
it just flows naturally from him. That that charisma Again,
Lebron has that natural charisma. Kobe was more of an introvert.
So that's not going to be an issue.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
Well, let me ask you this, right, let me ask
you this as a basketball guy.
Speaker 5 (21:58):
If the Nuggets win three out of four championships and
Joker continues to play.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Can he be ignored as yeah, the Joker?
Speaker 10 (22:10):
Yeah, absolutely, that's what that's not gonna say, Like he's
young and has the couragion, but no, it's got to
be uh And it's because of what we see in
the court of his game.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
You know that Tim Duncan was never the face.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
No, he wasn't.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
He wasn't because of that, Chris, And that's a fair point,
Tim Duncan. But they never won back to back. There
were years when other people won. I think that was
easier to and despite their winning, I think it was
easier to discount Tim Duncan because of that that you
have well, and you had you know what I mean,
(22:44):
you had some guys and then other people won, That's
what I mean, So that it was easier, Yeah, to
dismiss Tim because Tim, I mean, how much did you
ever hear him really talk or be out there?
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Just won? That guy just didn't.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Yeah, Yeah, but you're right, like I mean, if he if.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Jokich wins, because I'm impossible to you, I don't see
as many personalities right now in the I mean, like
I said, and Embiid's a great person and so is Jiannis.
But they gotta win. Yannis won one, but I don't
He's gotta win more. I guess you know, he's one
(23:27):
of those guys that has to win more. If he
wins more, Rob, Jannis could do it, but he gotta win.
So all right, It's the Eye Couple Chris and Rob
here on Fox Sports Radio, and Lebron was asked about
a farewell tour.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Talk about that.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Next, It's the Eye Couple, Christian Rob Fox Sports Radio
and Rob. Lebron was asked about a potential farewell tour.
I think we have it on tape here he is
from the All Star Game.
Speaker 12 (23:56):
I have not mapped out how many scenes as I
have left. I know it's not that many. I also
don't know if I will. I was asked this question
a couple of days ago. Will you kind of take
the farewell tour? Or were you kind of just tim
duncan it? I'm fifty to fifty.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
What do you think?
Speaker 13 (24:16):
Right?
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Well, first of all, it wouldn't be a Farewell world tour.
It would be a good Riddens tour. I think, Oh,
I'm gonna say this. I'm that serious from this standpoint
to hear hit me out, hear me out. It's not
that he ain't a great player and all that, you
know I said, he's been a great I say too.
But he's also a very polarizing guy. And I think
(24:37):
if he had one of those tours, there's a chance
there will be places where people aren't that fond of
Lebron and booze or And he's been around a long time,
so you wear on people. Chris twenty years, it might
be twenty four by the time he bounces balances, you know,
bows out right right.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (24:56):
Do you do?
Speaker 2 (24:56):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (24:57):
Like like when somebody leaves premature, only a thirteen years,
fourteen years, Like, man, he's gone, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
But Kareem played twenty years.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Yeah, but he was not more. He wasn't polarizing as
like Lebron is well Kareem.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Yeah, Kareem was like a lot of mean Kareem. A
lot of people didn't like Kareem. Magic made him more likable,
not like he didn't talk a lot, you know, not
liken militant. I think nobody's been like Lebron. I think
Lebron is just I think he's there are people Chris who,
(25:35):
even if they admire his talent or whatever, they think
he's so calculating.
Speaker 5 (25:40):
Everything is this and that. And I remember when I
was the gold and there's a lot of stuff about
him that people don't like. And it doesn't mean that
he can't play or he's not great. I do think
that there are people right now who can't wait for
him to be done so we don't have to hear
about Lebron anymore. My god, we've been talking about Lebron
for the overton twenty years. That doesn't happen every day.
(26:02):
That guys stick around that long and are that good
or relevant? Chris, you might stick around and be a
bench player, but nobody talked about you for the last
two or three years of your career.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Lebron is still a part of the of the conversation,
well to that point.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
That's why I think he may not have a farewell
tour because he's still playing at a high level. And
when you look at Doctor j he was declining to
average eighteen points the second last year. Then sixteen points
is last year. It was like, Okay, it's time for
(26:39):
Doc to retire. He's not what he used to be.
Kareem went from seventeen points, then the fourteen points, then
the ten points.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Is last year was like okay, time for Kareem.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
And you feel good about it, even Kobe right like
and Kobe again, Kobe was fairly polarizing himself, and so
a lot of people, you know, you knew like this
needs to be the last year. Lebron's still playing at
such a high level that I think if he plays well,
he will be like, man, I want to keep playing,
(27:10):
or especially with BRINNI. I don't know if BRONI will
come out this year, but there's always, you know, the
chance BRONI will come into the league at some point
and Lebron may want to play with him. So I
think all that would at least be a reason he
doesn't have the farewell tour. So I see it differently
from you, Rob. I agree with you that he is
(27:32):
absolutely polarizing, but I would like to see him have
a farewell tour because I just think Rob, even players
that were polarizing or that some people didn't like, once
they're like done, people love them, you know, and they
(27:53):
were like they almost forget all the bast not in
every case, but like a lot of people didn't like
Larry Bird because they like the magic. Now everybody loves
Bird and will admit how grad he was, or they
didn't like Magic because they liked Bird, and same thing,
they'll respect Magic and give him love.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
So I think Rob, I would like for Lebron.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
To have a farewell tour, to get the praise and
get the accolades, because Rob, look, I think that he
has been the most scrutinized player in the history of
the NBA, and I think his whole career it has
always been viewed in the shadow of Michael Jordan.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
It's always been a comparison.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
To well, yeah, okay, he did a great job that year,
but he didn't win it, and Michael would have won
it like we've we've always like, I think Lebron hasn't
always gotten the credit he's deserved and people enjoyed it
like they should because we're so busy viewing him in
(29:04):
the shadow of Michael Jordan.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
And so I think a farewell tour where people could
just give.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Him his love for how great he was that I
think I'd like to see that, and I think it'd
be great if he could experience.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
I just don't think he's I think there are way
too many people who are Chris A the Jordan, people
who will never like embrace me.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
But you don't think they would give him. You know,
I get it if you're right on that, but I
don't know how it is like you you still would
give like if Larry Bird was announced, and I get it,
he's been he's older, he's been away from the game.
But if Larry Bird were announced in the Staples Center,
they would give him love.
Speaker 5 (29:47):
But if Lebron goes somewhere else. So we see this, Chris,
where people get booed, you know what I mean? Like Lebron,
I'll give you hold on the world tour.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
You can see him getting boed.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
Yes, And I'm gonna give you a perfect example. You ready,
after he passed Kareem he was at the super Bowl.
It was a chance, Chris. There wasn't a Laker crowd, right,
it was. It was just a sports fan crowd. That's
a great moment in history sports history. Would you agree
with that?
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Yep?
Speaker 4 (30:19):
And he got boomed. Why would you boo him? What
did he do?
Speaker 5 (30:22):
He wasn't playing against your team, He wasn't doing anything,
And Chris, that's the litmus test is that on a
on a chance where it was non partis saying there
was nothing at stake other than to recognize him for
being the all time leading scorer in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Half of the crowd boot him.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
Let's rob this is interesting, Let's throw it out to
some callers.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven that
fair Christmas?
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Remember he got going?
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Why would you boo him at in that venue?
Speaker 7 (30:55):
What did he do it?
Speaker 1 (30:57):
I mean, it's undeniable that Lebron is polar rising that
a lot of people, you know, they love him, or
they don't like him, maybe hate him. But I just
feel like you would get love as just for what
you've done and how great you've been going out on
a farewell tour. But you know, I could be wrong.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. What are your
(31:19):
thoughts on Lebron if he does a farewell tour? Is
there a chance he could get booed in some arenas?
Eight seven seven.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Nine, nine, six sixty three sixty nine. You're turned the

Speaker 2 (31:53):
You'll turn the way in.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
If Lebron James has a farewell tour whenever he decides
to retire, do you think he could actually get booed?
I think he get love everywhere. Rob thinks there's some
places he would not. Your thoughts on Theoco art in Glendale, Arizona.
You're in the odd couple of Fox sportuited.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Art?
Speaker 9 (32:17):
Man?
Speaker 7 (32:17):
What it do? What?
Speaker 13 (32:18):
Chris?
Speaker 2 (32:19):
What's up?
Speaker 7 (32:20):
Red?
Speaker 13 (32:20):
Isn't I gotta I gotta get at you? On this
on Man, do not not, do not ever disrespect the
Great lou Alesander. Better know that's Kareean math dude, jabbar
Man the.
Speaker 8 (32:34):
Cat he was all that, he was that who disrespected him?
Speaker 13 (32:38):
He just Koreem said some things man like I didn't really,
I'm I'm an Avid like fan. I've been I was
born in seventy nine, bit of leg fan since I
was eighty four, But not disrespect like that. Please don't
take that.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
I don't know what he Rob, did you do you know?
Speaker 4 (32:54):
What did I say? Who said?
Speaker 13 (32:56):
You said something? Some blasphemy? I'm just like that for real?
Speaker 4 (33:00):
You gonna quick what he said?
Speaker 13 (33:02):
He said me and Chris his head. He played like
he enjoyed the farewell tour and this he said that
like Jim Duncan if I'm not if I'm not mistaken,
you can correct me if I'm wrong.
Speaker 11 (33:15):
Jim Duncan even.
Speaker 13 (33:16):
Telling nobody was retiring and up the teat.
Speaker 7 (33:18):
And so.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
I don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
I don't remember that.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
I don't remember said He played like he enjoyed the
farewell tour. First, I don't remember us saying that. But secondly,
how's that even? Insulting?
Speaker 13 (33:32):
Eric?
Speaker 4 (33:34):
Yeah? Eric and Austin you're on they couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up?
Speaker 7 (33:38):
What's up? Rob?
Speaker 1 (33:38):
What's up?
Speaker 14 (33:39):
Chris?
Speaker 2 (33:39):
How you guys doing great?
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Buddy Man?
Speaker 7 (33:42):
For the record, I don't know what that last call
was talking about. You'll need one of y'all.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
I don't remember that.
Speaker 7 (33:46):
I don't know what.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
I don't know that.
Speaker 14 (33:48):
Yeah, but Rob, Rob, I gotta disagree with you on this.
Speaker 5 (33:51):
Man.
Speaker 14 (33:51):
Here, Look, I'm gonna put it like this. Jordan kept
championships out of the Knicks fan base for how long
he got nothing but love in the gardens?
Speaker 5 (34:00):
No, I know that, But but but my, but my,
I'm gonna say this to you. You gotta acknowledge what
I just said about the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
That did happen. That did happen.
Speaker 14 (34:10):
I agree with you that Lebron a lot of people.
You know Lebron, he can get off people's nerves. But
like in terms of the farewell to it, it's only
about respecting the player's greatness and like player, so you
can get love all over.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
I'll tell you. I'll tell you this too.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
As much as you're talking about Michael Jordan, I'll tell
you where he didn't get love, and that was in Detroit,
where people wouldn't even buy his sneakers.
Speaker 7 (34:32):
Like in his last season, he didn't get loved.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
No, but I'm just saying Detroit has never really bought
into Michael Jordan because.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
Yeah, but I don't. I'm gonna tell you, do you
remember what it was like?
Speaker 11 (34:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (34:45):
I don't. I don't remember that.
Speaker 5 (34:47):
I just I can't honestly say that I remember them
booing him or whatever, but I don't remember the love.
I just know Chris the history of Detroit and and them.
Let's go to John. Excuse me, John and Bolder. You're
on the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
What's up, John?
Speaker 11 (35:03):
Hey, I just wanted to point out a couple of things.
Speaker 9 (35:07):
You know.
Speaker 11 (35:08):
Obviously, there's the hype that he came out with uh
being compared to MJ. But I think really what rubs
people the wrong way is when he's declaring himself the
goat and saying that his numbers should be retired early.
Like that's just an ego too far and it's not
back it up like Jordan did. I think there's gonna
be a lot of old heads that are like, uh uh,
(35:28):
that's just two butts.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Yeah, So I don't disagree that that that's a rub
for some people, Like when you proclaim yourself and you
say and like, oh, yeah, I remember when I became
the goat, Like that whole coversation Chris, like that is
that was the weirdest conversation I ever heard.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
As we said, when when this happened, that's what I beg.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
That's what that's when I became the goat. That's right,
it was weird.
Speaker 11 (35:51):
Yeah, So I think that's what's gonna hurt him a lot. Well,
I mean, don't get me wrong, he's a great player
and people are gonna show him love. But if anything's
gonna hold against him, that's gonna be one it is.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
Yeah, But that my thing was that that litmus test
was that super Bowl after the Kareem thing, that should
be all love. He didn't hurt nobody, Chris. He didn't
beat another team, you know what I mean, Like the
people are just there for the Super Bowl. There are
fans from all over the country. It's not one sided
like a team that he had beat or something like that.
(36:22):
That's the crowd that you could have got a real
feel for.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
How they felt about Lebron. Not he was playing.
Speaker 5 (36:31):
I don't know who he beat, Golden State, Toronto or something, Chris,
you know what I mean, and they just hate him.
Like if that would be that would be something where
you could say, well that's ah that cloud that crowd
is tilted against him. So you can't look at it
that way.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
So I hear you eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
If you want to weigh in quickly on Lebron and
a farewell tour.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
I don't know. It'll be interesting Rob to see whether
or not he does it.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
But like I said, I think for him, it's gonna
be a lot of it's gonna be based on you know,
where he's at.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Like, is he feel like there's no way, There's no way, Chris,
he's not having a fair work.
Speaker 5 (37:11):
Well really, yes, No, there's no way to're gonna do
a Jim Duncan note.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (37:16):
I don't believe it. I don't the way that he's
everything is scripted. He knows everything that's happening. I do
not believe for one second Lebron's gonna not tell anybody
and then just say okay, yeah, I'm all done.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
I don't believe that.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Well, he said he doesn't like being praised. Did you
see that?
Speaker 4 (37:37):
Okay, you mean by somebody else or by himself?
Speaker 1 (37:42):
No, he said he's not comfortable being praised. He said
that in the UH at the All Star weekend. Okay,
you apparently don't believe him. I look, I think he
handles praise well. I mean, Rob, I said this. Remember
the Lebron is the one that made the All Star
(38:04):
or MVP speech a thing in the NBA. Remember like
his first he had his receptions, or when he was
given the award at his high school, hundreds of people
there and he spoke and he did a great job.
But remember that wasn't how MVP awards typically were given.
(38:26):
And then Kevin Durant took the baton and he did
a great job with his mother.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
I remember that speech.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
Yeah, but before that, it wasn't thirty minute speeches that
guys were given. I remember dark Novinski sitting in the
practice facility, if I remember correctly, being given his after
they had been eliminated by.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
The eight seeded Warriors. But yeah, so it'll be interesting.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
I just think, I don't know if he wants to
box himself in, you know, to yeah, I'm retiring, but
then he has a great year and thing, you know what,
maybe I'll come back again.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
And Bronni's coming in the league next year or something
like that. Keep it locked. We got an hour left eye.
A couple
