Speaker 4 (01:13):
All Right, rob Our number three, let's go here.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
We talked earlier to Melissa Rowland from Fox Sports Radio.
I'm sorry Fox sports dot Com. She wrote a terrific
article about Anthony Edwards and the comparisons to Michael Jordan,
and I want to ask you and I well, you
brought it.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Up in a different context.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
But I'm gonna be honest, I don't think now anything
could happen.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
I guess right, We'll have to wait and see play
it by ear.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
But I don't think Anthony Edwards could become like I
don't see him getting it in the goat conversation.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Yeah, I was never talking about that.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
I was just.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Anybody else.
Speaker 6 (02:08):
Yeah, I would just I would just put But when
you when I brought him up, I think you thought
for a second that I was saying that, and I
was talking just about that how he looks.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
At Jordan as a goat, as such a young guy.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
That that was my point, right, But I'm saying a
lot of people, I mean you heard now, granted these
were family members.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Melissa said that.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
You know a lot of his family members say he
doesn't want to be the next Michael Jordan.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
He wants to be you.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Don't have to worry the greatest player efforts.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, I mean, I don't as great as he is,
and you can be an all time great.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
I don't see that. Again.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
He wins six, seven championships, even five if you do
it in a certain way, I don't know. Maybe would
people put him in that conversation. Who knows, But I
don't see it's I don't see him ever being like
that type of player. Where are you at on that?
Speaker 6 (03:08):
Yeah, I just there's no where I can look that
far in the future and really look at him in
that light. I mean, Chris, like the Western Conference, the
other players that are there, it's a young Western Conference
with a lot of players. You know, they could get
knocked out by Denver like that. They won game one
(03:30):
and might not win another game, you know what, Like
you know what I'm saying, Like, like, so, how in
the world could I really look at that and be like, oh, yeah,
he's going to win six championships or he's going to
do this, go to do that. I can't look at
that until you until you win one first, I could
take a look at it and really start to see
is there an opening and how dominant were you to
(03:51):
win that?
Speaker 2 (03:51):
And did you have enough?
Speaker 6 (03:53):
Do you know what I mean, like a lot of
different things before I could even assume you're gonna win multiple.
I know how hard is to win one own multiple.
I just can't see that.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Yeah, And I'm not even just talking about winning no, no, no,
I'm just saying I don't see like.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Part of that, you know what I mean. But there's
I mean, Kobe's got five.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I don't consider him better than Lebron, who's only got four,
you know.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
So it's to me, it's not just championships.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Of course, Jack's got four, Duncan's got five.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
He's not in the goat conversation. So that's a part
of it. Obviously, you got to win to some degree.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
But I just even as a player, and again I
could be proven wrong, but I don't see him becoming
like arguably the.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Greatest player ever.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
There are guys rib that at some point in their careers,
even like before they start winning, that I think are
in you know, could one day, if they reached their potential,
could one day be in the goat conversation.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Victor win.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Benyama, clearly, to me, is one of those guys I
thought at one point, not anymore, I thought at one
point Rob Yannis could become one of those guys. When
he won his first ring, he was incredibly dominant. He's,
you know, a seven footer who was bringing the ball
(05:29):
up court, was you know, playing a slasher type game,
was phenomenal, defensively filled up the box score.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Even gave you five six assists a game.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
I was like, we haven't really seen this, even though
he's not a great shooter. And I thought Yannis might
be eventually get himself in that conversation. But to your point, Rob,
he hasn't won like that, and he's not going to
be in that conversation.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
And look look how quickly that turn.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
You know, he won a couple of MVPs, he stays
in Milwaukee, he wins. Oh my god, look at and
now look at the last few years. That's how quickly
things turned for players. It's just and that's why when
people win a lot, you know, over a long it
speaks volumes because it's hard.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
It's really hard. We all watched all these great players.
Charles Barkley, dude was a great player. He didn't win.
He didn't win because it's it's Rob.
Speaker 6 (06:31):
Tell me when Matthews Ewan didn't put in all of
his heart and soul into everything.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
He didn't win.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
No, And I'm not comparing, by any stretch of the
imagination the experience the levels I played on in basketball
high school college Division III. But I do know that
in on both of those levels, there were games I
played in that were so height and close and intense
(07:04):
and what was on the line, whether it was you know,
the district or different district playoffs or something, or even
just regular conference games in college that they were so
draining because it was so hard fought and Rob to
(07:24):
play the same team and you know, I never did
this because you don't do it in high school and college.
But to play the same team Rob seven straight games,
that has because.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
If it's a seven game series, obviously it is close.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
It is a mental struggle, It is an emotional struggle,
It is a struggle of wills, it is a physical struggle.
That is just I can't imagine how tough that is.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
And then to do it Rob four times, right.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
You know, when they know your plays.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
I mean, and to do it year after year after year.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
It's incredible what what these guys do. And you're right,
that's why it's so hard to win, because you can
be a great player but not go you know, be
able to stay at that level during that type of challenge.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
It's incredible.
Speaker 6 (08:30):
You know, I was gonna say, Chris, and I just
was thinking about how incredible it is to be able
to to do something and keep having success with it.
And the one player I always think of, and he
(08:51):
didn't have I don't know if you could have had
a more perfect career. It's probably why he got into
the Baseball of Fame unanimously. And that's my rivera Chris.
He threw the same pitch, that same cutter. Nobody, you
know what I mean, like like to have success for
that long where everybody knows what's coming, and still be
(09:14):
able to be that great. And I just think there's
only a handful of players who can really do that.
Not everybody can do that.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Rob When we think of.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Anthony Edwards, and I get some of the Jordan comparisons,
the fade away, you know, the spectacular nature of his game,
the athleticism, But Jordan was longer, leaner, a little more little.
I mean, Anthony Edwards very graceful, but a little more graceful.
(09:48):
Edwards is more powerful, you know, and even his bill
is a little more you know, he's built a little you.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Know, just a stockier.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
He's not stocky, but you know he's got almost a
little more like a little more like a football player
than Jordan was. I think there are great comparisons and
and not it's not perfect, but I think when you
look at Anthony Edwards, I see a lot of similarities.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
To Dwayne Wade. And now Edwards is a better shooter.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Waye was not a great shooter, and that you know
when he played in his era, three point shots certainly
weren't as big.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Of a deal.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
And so you know, he he was able to get
away with not being a great shooter for the most part.
And you know, just getting to the whole time after
time after time, I think there are a lot of
similarities between those two. I think Kobe are as far
as aesthetically, I think Kobe was closer to Jordan than anybody.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
I mean also started in fact say it was.
Speaker 6 (10:59):
And here's the other part, because we talked about before.
If you if you turn off the picture and just
listen to Kobe, he soundedlike Jordan, like it was. It
was eerie like how much he sounded like him, how
he walked like him. I mean, you're right, he was.
He was a fact sim similarle. Yeah, it's interesting. I mean, Edwards,
(11:23):
look if they and they can rob I mean, if
you beat the defending champion Nuggets, uh, you can win
the championship, you know, oh absolutely, And you look.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
At the teams out west outside of Denver. I mean,
ok Se obviously incredibly young, Dallas, I mean.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Lucas still young. Lucas is like twenty four, so they
are young.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
The West is young, and whoever comes out of there,
if it's not Denver, is going to be fairly young.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
A Kawhi is thirty two. He's a veteran.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
But Minnesota has veterans with Mike Conley, with Gobert, even
Carl Anthony Towns to some degree, so they've got enough experience.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
It's just that their best player is young.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
But Rob also and I was you know, first things first,
Nick Wright was trying to slide this in as almost
a knock against Jordan. We weren't having a Jordan Lebron
debate or anything, but he was saying the comparisons, you know,
based off Anthony Edward saying he doesn't want the comparisons
to continue. He was saying, well, it's not fair to Jordan,
(12:33):
because you know, Jordan is the greatest or you know,
one of the greats, and he's retired, in Knick's view,
one of the greats. And he was saying, even it's
not fair to Anthony Edwards. He said to Anthony Edwards.
Jordan was never in in this position at this stage
of his career, you know, and he never got to
this second round, this young and all that stuff. And
(12:57):
I said, the thing, and that's one of the differences Rob.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
The thing is Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Rob has joined a team like Carl Anthony Towns is
a legitimate multi time All Star.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
You know, Jordan didn't join a team.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
Like that, right, right, right, That's the thing, people, people,
people are being as talented as he is, Chris. That
team was put together like with thoughts before they realized
that where he was going to be and all that. So,
I mean, and that's not to take anything away from him,
but if you look at that team that that ain't
the that ain't the that ain't at.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
The Bulls that Michael Jordan joined Jordans, it just isn't.
You could kids yourself all you want, right, It was
a one man show.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
And there was a reason he wasn't passing that much.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
To him exactly. There was nobody to pass to.
Speaker 7 (13:51):
Right.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
But but you know, Gobert will likely Rob be the
four time defensive Player of the Year uh this season.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
And like I said, Carl Anthony Towns is a legit,
you know, Carl Anthony Towns.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Rob, he is that number he's a he's somewhat he's
not quite as good, but somewhat like Anthony Davis is
that he is a number one talent. Like I think
his talent and game is that of a number one option,
But I don't think he has the number one mentality
(14:27):
or just the dog or you know, those intangibles you
need to be that number one guy. And so Edwards
has become that number one guy, but he still got
that great teammate in Edwards, and and even Gobert and
Mike Conley's had a very strong career.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
He was a player in the league at one point.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Yeah, it happens based one timing Jaylen Brown, you know. So, yeah,
those are my thoughts on the comparisons. We want to
get the listener's thoughts on these comparisons. Rob eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine that
he doesn't want to now it's respectful for him to
(15:14):
say this. It's respectful. I think I think he means it. Obviously,
you'd love to be thrown in that, you know, uh, conversation,
like wow, they comparing me the best, But I think
it's out of respect and he knows he's got a
long way to go, and that's that's a great mentality
to have at this stage of his career. Eight seven,
(15:34):
seven ninety nine on Fox Your thoughts on the Michael
Jordan Anthony Edwards comparisons and really.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Do you think?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Could you? I can't foresee.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Anthony Edward's being ever being in the goat conversation, but
you know, things happen if he keeps winning.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Can you? That's next?
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Your thoughts?
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox A Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (16:14):

Speaker 8 (16:15):

about what made these people love their sport and all
the interesting interactions along the way. We talked to coaches,
we talked to players, We tell you stories. You download it,
you listen to it.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
I think you like it.
Speaker 8 (16:34):
Listen to All Ball with Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio
app Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
All right, it's the couple Chris and Rob live from
Thetirerag dot Com Studios A seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Ant Man, everybody's comparing them to Michael Jordan. Obviously we're
a long way away from you know that. But could
you ever see him in the goat conversation?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
I could not.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
I felt the same way about Dwayne Wade early in
his career. I just think there's certain guys that we
see early. Yeah, they're gonna be in that conversation, and
I don't think he's one of them. But I could
be wrong, obviously if he keeps winning or starts winning
and keeps winning. But your thoughts eight seven seven ninety nine,
(17:24):
Oh Fox.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
All right, Chris, let's kick it off with John in
New Hampshire. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (17:30):
John?
Speaker 5 (17:31):
Hey, guys, the best radio show on radio, man, Thank
you man.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
We appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
Love listening to you so well crafted, the way the
show is and how you involved callers and really good
topic you guys talk about.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
Fantastic You know what, John, it's a radio show and
I think people who don't want to hear from callers,
I think they make a mistake.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
That's just my opinion. U. We'll talked about it.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
Absolutely. I wouldn't agree with you more.
Speaker 7 (17:57):
Rob.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
As far as Anthony Edwards looks, love him, great player,
But Chris, you vote for these year end awards, He's
probably the second team All NBA, not first team All NBA.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
He is.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
Exactly Jordan was always first team All NBA, the league
in scoring. And the reason he didn't do well his
first few years in the playoffs because he was playing
the Celtics for the first round. They had no chance
against those teams. But I think really what this is
all about is and that again, love Anthony Edwards. He
could be the future face of the league. The problem is,
I think the fans the media really want an American
(18:30):
born player to be the face of the league. And
right now the four best players in the league are
foreign born players, right, Giannis Jokic.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Luca.
Speaker 6 (18:42):
You know what, John, John, I don't disagree. I think
there's a piece of that, even if it's not conscious. Chris, No,
you know what I mean. I think I think that's fair.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
I think that's fair and Honestly, as much as I
love Anthony Edwards, I think the future face of the
league's Victor Woman Yama and he's farm born. Yeah, yeah,
but you're right. I do think that's a good point.
That probably and and you're gonna, yeah, you want to
have some Americans in there.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
No doubt.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
But sometimes you can't. You can't ignore talent.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
Like I know what you people might want, right, it
would be like you could say whatever you want, you're
really gonna look at Otani Chris and look for somebody else.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Like I just was gonna say, right, no, you see,
you see he's doing it, I said, without pitching. I
think he's gonna hit better. He's leading the majors in
just about every hitting.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
He's been incredible. Him and Mookie bets for the doct
But you get my point, Like, you can't. You can't go, oh,
let's only like push Mookie, or let's push somebody else
like Bright's Harper.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
No, I mean you can't his talent.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Other faces, you know, like you mentioned Barkley, never the face, no,
but one of the one of the faces outside kind
of after Jordan, there were a bunch of Ewing and
Elijah Lin and it will at least be that, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
But if windn't be really emerges.
Speaker 6 (20:10):
Tim Chili Tim in Atlanta, you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Rado.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
What's up, Tim?
Speaker 9 (20:15):
Yeah, what's up?
Speaker 6 (20:16):
Chris?
Speaker 9 (20:18):
I'm good.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Rob.
Speaker 9 (20:19):
How are you gonna mention the Dodgers after they finished
eating my brade?
Speaker 2 (20:22):
I know, I know, I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Man.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
Hey, hey, you know what last year? You remember when
Atlanta came in and did the thing on the Dodgers.
You remember when the MVP was up for grabs.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Chris? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, so that kind of hurt. Man.
Speaker 9 (20:38):
We got the Red Sox, Man, so we should pick
up a couple of wins, you know. But but I
think the only I don't think he can be in
a Gold conversation. I don't see it. I don't think
he has that that that caliber. I mean, let's just
face it, that level maybe Lebron, he can't. He's not
on it, like a magic He's not there, you know.
(21:00):
So he's good. The only thing I can say that
reminds me of him With Jordan, I think the biggest
thing is just killer instinct. Like I saw him on
the interview after they swept the suns and they asked
him and he's like, my my thing is I just
want to kill everything in front of me. That's what
I like that mentality about him that he has that
(21:20):
like I'm gonna get you.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
You know, uh what Now he got the dog in.
Speaker 9 (21:25):
Yeah, he got the dog.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
And he plays both ends of the floor and he
loves to play.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Yeah take no day. So he loves to play.
Speaker 9 (21:31):
Too, right, And I like the fact that he brought
out the best in his teammates as.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Well, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
Tim Thanks said all right, yeah, is this Lomax in Memphis?
You're in the odd couple of Fox Sports where let's
squeeze you in. What's up Lomax?
Speaker 7 (21:47):
Okay, Hey, how you doing? Chris and robbe from a
long time listener, first time, Thank you buddy. Yes, I'm
making real quick. I know you guys are talking about
the Anthony Everson Jeordian.
Speaker 6 (21:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
Killer, But I'll tell you what. He was the number
one pick, George number three pick. I wouldn't say that
Minnesota would have wasted the draft. I mean he went
to that team with they needing his help.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
So I mean, yes, wait, what do you what are
you saying?
Speaker 2 (22:11):
We're not saying. We're not saying, I mean, what wasted
the draft?
Speaker 7 (22:15):
Someone said that he went to an already stacked team.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
No, no, we're just saying that if we never used
the word stats.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Yeah, he's got a cast now, he has.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
He has a cast around where where when Jordan went
to the Bulls, the organization was down trod and there
was nothing there.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Right right right.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
We're not saying he's going he went to the freaking
two hours seventeen Warriors, but we're saying he's going to
He had some really good players alongside of me. That's
why he's able to, you know, maybe maybe win the
championship along with his greatness.
Speaker 3 (22:48):

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Indiana up ninety four eighty five on the Knicks early
in the fourth quarter, it's it's so I gotta give
you credit. You're so on point with the if they
lose this game or not this game, this series, nobody's
gonna be talking about christ And again, this is to
(23:22):
take nothing away from him as far as being a
great player.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
He is great. He is, he has a great Yes,
a fantastic season and none of that.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
But but if you can if a series can make
people rock of you as not great after one the
one series, Chris, you're not great, right?
Speaker 1 (23:42):
I mean if if, like you said, if Minnesota loses
this series to Denver, or if Denver loses he's saying
Yokich is in a superstar, Anthony Edwards, if Shay Gilders Alexander, honestly,
if they lose to Dallas, Rob or vice versa, nobody.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
There's not a superstar because they lost to ok C.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
No, right right, Embid got beat by the Knicks. Is
anybody saying he's not a superstar?
Speaker 2 (24:05):
No, So that's all we talked. Only Rob g raises
his head. Of course, yes, yeah, of course he would
trade a D for MBID in a heartbeat? Would you
not Raby why he's lying? Chris?
Speaker 4 (24:18):
You wouldn't. No, you wouldn't trade AD for mb No.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Because I like getting out of the second round.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Give him bad lebron to see if he can get
out of the second round.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
Now he's gonna get the bubble guts, or he's gonna
get a sprained ankle or or a new viral infection.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
That we never heard of, both injury from He's even
worse than a D You right about that?
Speaker 2 (24:38):
All right?
Speaker 4 (24:39):
Rob?
Speaker 2 (24:39):
The Suns.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
They're a quandary.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
And we talked about the Clippers earlier with Mark Medina,
and we will get into them a little bit later.
But there's another team that I think is in just.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Where do you go?
Speaker 1 (24:58):
They got Kevin Durant two more years and max money
left on his deal, Devin Booker, who's their young stars
twenty seven, so you know, I wouldn't think you'd want
to get rid of him, and Bradley Beal who's got
probably I would say the most untradeable contract in all
(25:19):
of basketball, Rob, because he's got three years, one hundred
and sixty two million left on it roughly.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
Right right.
Speaker 6 (25:30):
All you can say when you hear that contract is oive,
because that's just are you kidding?
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Like you're kidding?
Speaker 6 (25:37):
Somebody actually sad to part in? Somebody actually sat down
and thought that was a good deal, you.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Know what I mean?
Speaker 6 (25:44):
Like, like, how how did you how did you sit there,
Chris and decide like, yeah, let's do.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
This, especially with his injury issue. I don't get it
with some of these and that's the thing with Kawhi,
but we'll get into that.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
But Rob the son.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
So we were talking, like there's some scouts and they
told Rick Buker, fellow Fox Sports colleague, some of the
scouts were saying they could either tear it down or
they could go all in, you know, run it back.
I Rob, I would be open if I'm them to
(26:22):
trading Kevin Durant. Open That means I'm not shopping him.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
I'm not. We gotta get rid of him at all costs.
But I am.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Listening if teams want to come out and if they
want to, you know, make a move, we can always listen.
And if I could get a great deal, maybe a
young star some draft and nobody in durance class, but
just a really good young player, maybe a Pascal Siakam
(26:55):
type like as far as that level of player, maybe
another young player or two who's good, and some draft
picks that might rock. Because they're not winning. I don't
see them winning it with this trio. And so Devin
Booker at twenty seven is still young enough where he
(27:15):
can have a second act.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
You can like rebuild around Booker and maybe.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
Put yourself in the future in a better position to
compete for a championship than you are now.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
And so I would look at that.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
I would not tear it all down and trade Booker
Durant Booker. You can't. I don't think you can trade
Bill but Durant Booker because Booker is my guy. If
I trade Booker, guess who I'm looking to draft get
with one of these draft picks? A Devin Booker right right?
Speaker 6 (27:48):
You know?
Speaker 1 (27:48):
So I got him and he's just hitting his prime,
at least what we typically thought of as a player's prime,
and so that's kind of I get the run it
back sentiment. I wouldn't definitely trade Durant, but I would
be open to listening. But if I have to run
it back, I'm trying to get a young point guard,
(28:09):
maybe some three and D athletic guys that are cheap,
but they can shoot and they can d they're athletic.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
That's that's kind of what I see for them. But
I don't want to break it off.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
I don't want to trade Devin Booker if I'm unless
I'm doing it for like another young star.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
I don't disagree it would for me.
Speaker 6 (28:32):
I don't know how you get rid of Bells, so
you're kind of stuck with him. Duran is the only
one you don't trade a young Devin Booker and I
agree that there is enough time for act number two
and you just put some different people around it. This
will be his third act, right because they went to
the championship with Chris Paul and that team and what
(28:54):
Ayton and you know what else my missing with that squad?
Speaker 4 (28:58):
Right yeah, well Chris eight and to him, we're kind
of that right that those guys so so.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
You can do it.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
He's not only not washed, that'll be not done. But
but Kevin Durant is something that could probably get you something.
And a team Chris in the hunt with the idea
that they have a shot, could say we just he
can get us over the top.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
The guy is a score, right, I mean like and
he has a he's gonna fit in. But he could
fit in with anybody.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
And we saw him early this year when he was
averaging thirty and balling out right, Yep.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
He rob two teams.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
If I'm the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
In Philadelphia, I'm looking at Kevin Durant. Now you may
not be able to get him.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
I mean, the signs just made you know, say, look,
we're not moving him, We're running it back, and that's fine.
I'm inquiry. The Nicks got a lot of nice, kind
of role type players and draft picks that could help
the Sons. Philadelphia has the cap space to absorb Durant and.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
They got a bunch of draft picks.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
If I'm those teams, before I go after Paul George
or even Donovan Mitchell rob if I'm the Knicks, I'm
going after Kevin Durant.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
I'm saying, can we get him? So I'm with you
on that. And if I'm the Suns, I'll listen, what
are you gonna say? Do you think Durant?
Speaker 1 (30:33):
And you know they lose a lot of some of
these guys, of course, but you'd have Brunson, you'd have Durant.
You think that Durant could win a championship there in
New York. I gotta be honest, I'm not sure. I
kind of would say no. But if I'm the Knicks,
I'm still going for it.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
Yeah, if you can, Chris, I mean, you're a franchise
that's trying to make something happen. He would definitely you
would feel like be a missing peace and a guy
who's been there, done that, even at the older age,
you know what I mean. Yep.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
So if you're the Knicks, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
And as the Knicks look, they haven't won and so long,
they haven't even been anywhere near a championship, and so
long that I think, Rob, I think they need to
be thinking. I'm not saying you throw away your future,
but they need to be thinking, let's seize the day.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Let's go for it, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Like I mean, so many years they've tried to build,
right and Rob, it's just been decades since they were
any good for the most, you know, consistently good, and
so I would go for it now if I could,
I would go for it. So but we'll see, all right,
it's the odd couple, Christian Rob. We're gonna talk some Clippers.
(31:48):
What in the world should they do next?
Speaker 6 (31:51):
Home?
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Maybe a show?
Speaker 4 (31:53):
Well home, home is where they're at, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
After being eliminated by the Dallas Maverick eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox Call us tomorrow you'll be able

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
It is an absolute barn burner in Madison Square Garden
right now. What I gotta say this what a postseason?
What postseason fun for garden fans?
Speaker 4 (32:59):
Rob?
Speaker 1 (33:01):
You know, not only are they getting playoff games, but
they're getting thrilling ones at least to this point, right, yes.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
And you're getting some other start now.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
I know Indiana isn't Star Layton, but they do, you know,
Tyrese Halliburton. And at least it's also the that old
you know, remember it used to be the Knicks versus
the Hicks.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Yeah yeah, was that a headline in the post? Oh yeah, yeah,
there's no doubt back page, you know, Yeah, I think that.
Speaker 6 (33:28):
Yeah, but I told you the other one, Chris, My
all time favorite was when the was when the Nets
had Paul Pierce and Garnet and who else you have.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Darren Williams and Joe Johnson.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Yeah, and the headline in the paper in Toronto was great.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
It was.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Raptors versus dinosaurs.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
That is good.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
I tell you what, Rob.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
That arena, thank you, chrisic Canada Center is one of
my favorites. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
They trying to Chris is trying to warm up to Toronto.
Now no, no, I mean no, no, right, I can't
stand him up there.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
I love to visit Toronto.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Toronto is a great city.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Yeah, absolutely, I don't want everyone want to live there. Hey,
get mad if you want. I got my opinions. I
got my right to say what I want to live,
where I want to live.
Speaker 6 (34:24):
It is, and I covered uh, you know hockey Stanley
Cup playoff action there in Toronto.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Awesome. Mm hmmm. All right, Rob, the Clippers, I told
you I'm done with the clip. I'm out.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
I'm surprised you have definitely ridden.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
Hard for the Clippers. So okay, so what should they do?
I think they got Kawhi. I locked up so and
they have hardly any draft pick.
Speaker 6 (34:51):
Now you got Kawhi and you try to uh sign
and trade and get some assets for those other guys.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
I just I'm out on that. Like to run that.
You can't run that back.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Well, you're not.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
You're not going to win a championship camp You're just not.
But Rob, there is a value in being relevant in
making the playoffs. The Knicks ain't about to win no
championship this.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Year unless everybody gets hurt out East and.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
Then in the West.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
But this is valuable that they've gotten to the second round,
that they might win the second round, get their conference finals.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
The Pacers they're.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Not gonna win it this year, but this is value.
I get it that they're young and they're building. But
I'm just saying, like.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
I would run it back me and I you know,
I do not want to lock up Paul George for
the full max, so I'm hes it. I'm not saying
I definitely do that. I would try to bring him back.
James Harden I'm certainly not giving the full max. I
don't know who else is gonna gonna go after harden Ron.
(36:01):
I mean, he's he's failed so many times in the playoffs,
and he's, you know, even though he can be a
great playmaker, and he is at times, you know a lot.
I mean, he's you know, you know, you and I
both know he's great at that, but he does also
change the makeup of your team. And so I don't
(36:22):
know how many teams are going after him, uh, I mean,
if he couldn't Rob, if he couldn't even get to
the second round, I mean, sorry the conference finals with
Joe lmbiad and Tyrese MAXI I mean, I'm not a
team that's going after James Hard.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
No, I get it.
Speaker 6 (36:39):
I just I don't know, like at some point and
I get it, they're moving into a new building.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
Yeah that's the other thing.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
You know, but you're but you're but people are people
would I think would welcome some changes, just that you
just can't keep trotting out the same thing.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
But it's just what expected.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Like even if they're tear terrribull Rob, like they say
they they gonna other than Kawhi, we're going to the bottom.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
They don't have their picks.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
Like if they're bad, they and they got you in
a position where they can have the number one pick,
they wouldn't have it, yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
But could but could you? But could you?
Speaker 6 (37:16):
I'm not saying go terrible like signing Trey. Get some
other players who will have some some promise, Chris and
some other you know what I mean? Like like there's
gotta be rooting for something like that, where where a
team is willing to give up a decent young player
for a more proven veteran gud because they think they're
close to the winning Do you do?
Speaker 2 (37:36):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Like like, I mean, I think the problem with Kawhi
is he's injured so much. How much values he's gonna
have not hard and if I'm trying to win and
I can I count I mean I don't think right
I can count on him in the playoffs to be great,
So I'm hesitant there.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
Paul George has a little of both of that anyim right.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
Sometimes he can get hurt too, and also he hasn't
always been at his best in the playoffs. But I
do think you can probably trade him. So I get
what Mark Medina was saying about signing him to trading,
but I just think rob I can't overstate. And again,
(38:20):
props to Kawhi and Uncle Dennis, you know who they
got that contract out of, out of the Clippers. But
I can't overstate how how bad I think of a
signing that was, because Rob like think if they had
not signed Kawhi, they actually would be in a really
(38:41):
good position, at least cap wise, because you got hardened,
George and Kawhi would all be free agents, and instead
they're kind of stuck.
Speaker 4 (38:52):
So I would probably just run it back New Arena.
Look at the Knicks. Wow, that non superstar Jalen Brunson
with thirty eight and sixteen in the fourth quarters.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Yes, that's who it is. He's okay. Rob G got
us a Rob G doesn't even know where the patient.
We're going to get together.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
We out
