Let's get this, punies, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

NBA Champion, joining us at the bottom of the hour
(00:58):
to talk all things in be a keep it locked
for that, Rob. Sorry I missed out on that last
half hour forty minutes of Yeah we missed you with
John Starts.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
It was good talking about the current Nicks, Chris and
some of the old time days and just what those
eight or nine years he spent in New York during
that run met in his life it was good. Yeah, good, good, good,
You're okay, everything's cool. Yeah, I'm good now, I'm good.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
I was eating too fast, something went down the wrong way,
so I had to take care of that. But I'm
good all right, Rob. So last night in a pivotal game.
Game fives are always very pivotal, and Nikola Jokicic led
the Denver Nuggets to a victory one twelve to ninety
(01:47):
seven over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Game six tomorrow night back
in Minnesota, but Denver leeds three to two. They were
down two and so quite a comeback by them to
win the next three games.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
But jokis, Rob was just spectacular. There's no other way
to That's the best way to describe him.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Chris, Yes, sphectim in those spectacular incredible forty points, thirteen assists,
seven rebounds, no turnovers, Chris said, there it is.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
We were talking about Kaitlin Clark with the more than
turnovers in Pillsbury. Could you imagine no turnovers with forty points,
no turnovers.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
And he's the primary ballham ball hams degree for them
fifteen for twenty two from the field.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
And Rob, I would say, in the day on first
things first.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
You know, after they won the championship last year, I
had him rated as the seventh best center.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
All time, behind Kareem.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Russell, Shaq Will, Elijahwan and Moses Malone.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
And I'm not just doing is based on last night.
It's everything watching.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Him and we'll see whether he wins the championship this
year or not. I'm moving in my head on my
in my list, I'm moving in my head of Moses Malone.
So now I've got him six and trying to chase
down a Lajahwan to get in my top five for
what that's worth.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
But the dude does everything.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Robin last night was I mean, all his skills were
on display, saying he didn't rebound as well as usual.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
But you know, seven is a small number for him.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
You know that is a small number. Chris.
Speaker 6 (03:38):
I think there's a couple of things here.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
And it's not people can it's not that you can
have a different opinion on who you want to vote
for from MVP and you come up with your point
to whatever.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
But some of the.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
Stuff that we heard last year and this year almost
like wanting to discredit him this year.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, after they lost the first two games, Yeah. After
he lost the first two games, I think people were
ready to pounce to say that he wasn't that guy,
that that oh they neutralized him.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
Oh look, he can't do this.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Like after those first two games, I got a sense
that people were ready to say, Okay, well he won
those three MVP but I really don't know. Because he
never beat a team old with more than fifty wins,
there were always something to hang over to.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
No, I get it, never be the playoff team.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
This will be the first fifty win or fifty plus
win playoff team, fifty or better win playoff team that
he beats him.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
It was I didn't fish go ahead.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
I just didn't sense a lot of like that people
were thinking he wasn't as good as we thought.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
We had last year, Perkins saying that the only was
last year. No, but I just want to make the
point that he was a stat stuffer and he only
was winning MVPs because he was white and all kinds
of other stuff.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
That was just one guy.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Okay, but it's a guy on the national platform. I'm
just talking about what he said. I mean, And my
issue was that this guy has put in a herculean
effort and if he does this, I said, I heard
Colin on our very radio network now talk about him
being in the top ten on his list.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Chris.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Something I said before this all the playoffs started, I said,
if he wins it the third and MVP in four
years and they win another title, I'm gonna have him
in my top ten because that's the kind of resume
he's put together.
Speaker 6 (05:37):
And now he's turned it up even.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
A bigger degree because he was down two on the ropes,
losing two games at home, and everybody and he didn't
play that great. He played okay in one game and
not great the other. They got blown out, embarrassed in
game two at home. And for him to turn that around,
for them to be as dominant as they can, when
(05:59):
everybody thought that the Timberwolves had their number and they
had the formula to neutralize them and all this other stuff,
and for him to beat this dominant in the next
three games, I think they're gonna close it out and
Minnesota won't win another game. And if this propels them
to that back to back championship, which I think they're
(06:20):
going to get, I don't care who comes out of
the East. I believe this team is going to win
an ALE championship, and I just where they are and whatnot,
and I just and to me, it's hard.
Speaker 6 (06:34):
I don't know what it'll take for people.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Even with Shack's comments that he didn't think he deserved it,
which is fine, I said, it's his opinion, that's fine.
I just think that there's people were waiting and hoping. Now,
that's just the way I read the room. I could
be totally wrong. I got the sense after they fell
behind two and everybody wrote them off, they wrote them
(06:57):
off out of disrespect to him, that he won going
to be able to turn it around. He wasn't going
to be able to regroup against that team. Chris, even
you said they look like a suburban team playing a team.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
From the hood.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
It looks like they would be I'm just saying, like,
I'm just saying your analogy look like I'm not running
from that analogy.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
No.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
But but but I think I think there was a
bit of that, and now people are having to rethink that,
and I think he's.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Here to stay. This dude is.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I think you're overstating the hate. No, I think the
hate real.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
You think somebody thought he wasn't here to state if
they would have lost, who thought.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
He wasn't here to say they would have lost this series?
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Chris being coming off the championship, yes, had they been
had they been swept, that maybe he ain't that guy.
He ain't no top ten player. How did you win
a championship player yet? Okay, you're years old.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
I get that.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
No I'm talking about I'm just saying I think you're
way overstating.
Speaker 7 (07:58):
Now.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
People right off the Nuggets.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
No, they him, there's nobody else, says they there's nobody
else on that team that's an all star. They were
writing him off when they were writing off the Nuggets.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
They were saying he couldn't do it.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Okay, can I say you you've said your case. I'm
a I'm a rebutted. Even if their team were to
lose the series, that doesn't mean you're not saying he's
a great player.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
I mean anybody that would say yo.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
If they had gotten swept, anybody who would have fixed
their mouth to say he's not great would have been
out of their minds, seriously, and.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
To write him off forever. He's twenty nine years old.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
He's got a I mean, he got another ten years
if he wants it to play. He's got another at
least six or seven, if not more, to be dominant.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I just think you're way over state now. And his
team would lose doesn't mean you're saying he's not great.
You know how many times Shaq was swept, Shack was
swept like six times, I think. I mean, and when
the year Shack didn't win the championship, that didn't mean
he wasn't great. The years Lebron didn't win the championship,
that didn't mean he wasn't great.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
So I just think you're going overboard.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
If you want to say people wrote off the Nuggets, fine,
and they did, and I did, but the same people.
I certainly wasn't thinking Jokics wasn't great. And I don't
know any I can't think of anybody in their right
mind that would say if they got swept in this series,
he wasn't great.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
They were ready to pounce on that guy who They
bring up Perkins? Hold on, you bring up Kendrick Perkins
from a year more than a year ago.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Before Yokish won his last his first championship.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
No, I'm talking about a different conquests. I was there
when the when the Pistons and and they beat Shacking
Kobe even when they were down in this series. Okay, everybody,
I remember, I was there, Oh the Lakers when they
lost Game one, okay, and then Shacking to do with this,
I'm trying to make the point that they didn't rule
(10:15):
out Shaq even though they got three.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Championship doesn't matter. He has won, and they already were
ruling them on. They were ruling them.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
They were ruling him out because they wanted to, and
they were hoping that this was gonna be a one
time championship, and he won't. That guy, he's proving people
that he was going to be able to bounce back.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
You're just telling numbers are fantastic. His play is unlike
anything we've ever seen. He's invented the point center position.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
And yet when he went down, oh two, everybody threw
the toweling on him.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
They didn't throw it on the Nuggets, they on him. No,
it's a team game.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
And you mentioned Shacking Kobe Shack and that's why people
didn't write them off because it wasn't just Shock, Like
I said, we saw Shock get swept time and time again.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
Because champions against the team, Chris, that you said before
the playoffs started, you didn't buy into the Timberwolves because
they were too young and they have been on that
road before the said.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
What I said is, let's see.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Every every time we talked to Antonio Daniels, I was like,
let's see. I want to see if OKC and Minnesota
are for real. Because they're young, they we gotta see
something from them.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
But my point is writing off the Nuggets is not writing.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Off the Kolonic like we're writing off the Lakers. Does
that mean we think Anthony Davis ain't no good No,
but we know.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Lebron can't win no championship till That's why you write
them off? Chris, you don't believe. You don't believe Lebron's
gonna win another championship?
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Do you No?
Speaker 4 (11:56):
But okay, then that's writing him off. That's writing him.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
That doesn't mean you're saying he's not a good play you.
I think people were saying Yogis couldn't play.
Speaker 6 (12:03):
No that what people were saying and hoping.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
And wishing was that he got swimming a lot.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
I'm reading the room and I'm reading the comments on
how people bailed I don't player.
Speaker 6 (12:16):
They bailed on him.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
As soon as as soon as there was blood in
the championship.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
As soon as there was blood in the water, they
ran from him.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Oh they're gonna get swept. They're not that good.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
They've utilized they are going to get swept. We rode
off Yannis too. Does that mean people think he's not great?
I mean certain, that's all I'm saying. If you want
to say people wrote off the Nuggets, they did people.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
They rode off Yogic. He just won his third MVP
in four years. They still rode them off.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
As soon as there was one chink in the armor,
that one thing went wrong, they were down on to
Oh my god, look at them. They've they've got them
the magic formula. They neutralize them. Look, well, are we
talking about.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
We talk about him because he's not beating them by himself.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
I mean, that's what I'm saying. Like it's a team game, rob.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Nobody was their years when Lebron was in his crime.
When we say he's not gonna win the championship, so
we thought he couldn't play anymore. We again, Jannis, we
were saying he's smack dab in the middle of his prime,
he wasn't gonna win it this year? Does that mean
we think he couldn't play? Did we think MB was
gonna win it?
Speaker 7 (13:32):
No?
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I picked the Knicks to beat him bid Does that
mean I think he can't play or that he's not
It wasn't worthy of his one MVP.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
That's what I just don't.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
I again, if you want to say people underestimate the Nuggets,
like you said, he doesn't have another all star teammate,
So really, I mean, I think people questioning the rest
of those guys. It was Jamal Murray's not having a
great postseason other than hitting the game winning shots. I mean,
(14:05):
I just I just right now, and again, you brought
up Kendrick Perkins and that was fine, but that's a
whole different context. That was before Jokic had won anything.
So I just and that was, you know, he brought
in race. But I don't know, I disagree. I don't
think people were writing off Yokic even as they thought
(14:25):
this team might lose all right, eight seven seven ninety
nine on.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
Fox, What are your thoughts?
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Robb says people were quick to write off for trying
to write off Nicola.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Jokic, like there's some type of.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
I guess hate or I hate obviously it's too strong,
but some dislike of Yokic.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
What they don't want him to be the best guy
in the league. They don't want they don't want him
to win. They don't want him to.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Be Why don't they want him to be the best
player in the league. He I don't know, he's Rob's
not here. I don't know why. I mean it is
because he's not American. Heck, the best player in the
league ain't gonna be American and less Anthony Edwards emerges
for a while. So I don't think that's it. I
got no issues with him being the best player in
the league. I've been saying he's the best player in
(15:09):
the world. Win or lose in this series, all right?

on Fox?
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Do you feel like people were writing Yokic off, not
just the nuggets, but actually Yokic saying he's not as
good as you know his accolades.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
I guess your thoughts, Dan and Fort Lauderdale. You're on
the couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
What's up, Dan?
Speaker 9 (16:49):
Hey, guys, Yeah, I think you gotta you gotta hear
what what Rob was saying. He wasn't writing, He wasn't
the same people were hating on on Yokics. He was
saying that he's no longer the best player in the NBA.
Two weeks ago, to beat the Lakers, everybody agreed he
was the best player.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
They lose two games. Now Anthony Edwards? Every hold on, hold.
Speaker 7 (17:09):
On, hold on Anthony?
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Did you know you gotta name a name?
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Who in the world said Anthony Edwards was better than
Nicole Ki saying he might be the face of the
league is not saying he's better than THEO.
Speaker 9 (17:21):
A lot of people were saying, maybe Anthony Edwards is
the best player in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
I know, I didn't who who You gotta get me?
I didn't hear anybody say that.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
People, people, people, The vibe the conversation is about Edwards.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Anthony Edwards is better than you did you do you
think anybody was saying that, Chris, Yes, the talk was
about Edwards.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
He's the new hotness. He might be the face of
the league. That's different than saying he's been the face.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
He's the face of the league where they won one
playoff series and he won one playoff Chris, let me talk,
let me talk, please just can win.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Let me t talk.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Let me he's the He's the face of the league
with one playoff series and Joki just won three MVPs
in four years and after two games, he's the face
of the league.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
On that Tim Duncan wasn't the face of the league.
He got five championships. People saying Anthony Edwards was gonna
be the faith, going to be the face.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Of the league. Nobody even was saying he is.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
But people saying he's going to be or could be
the face of the league doesn't mean you're saying he's better.
It was because he's more spectacular, his game is flashier.
I can't I don't think anybody thinks at this point,
or thought a week ago when Denver was down two, oh,
that Anthony Edwards is better than the Kole Yoks. You
(18:50):
can't just come with the they they you gotta give
me a name. And I'm honest, I don't know who
thought that.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
Chris.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
When people rode off, they looked at it.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
They looked at what Anthony Edwards had done in those games.
They look at how Jokic shit struggled, and they looked
and they were ready to already, despite all he had
done in his career, were ready to just say, Oh,
they're gonna get swept.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Everybody thought the series was over, and a lot of
that had to do with a lot of that had to.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Do with the disrespect of Joki and what he's done.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
You got no evidence of that, Chris, What what else
could it be?
Speaker 3 (19:29):
How could you just take two.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Games and everything else that he's done two games?
Speaker 3 (19:35):
It could be Minnesota's not better. They had the same records,
they had the same record.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
But Rob, it could be that I know when I
said Minnesota's gonna win the series and I still got
Minnesota in seven.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
I'm not saying Anthony Edwards is better than Nicola Jokic,
JD and Phoenix.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (20:00):
Heard I heard it from.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yeah, just people talking. Give me a name. We don't
even have to give me a name.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Just tell me you heard somebody on national television say
that Anthony Edwards is better than Chris.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
That's not what I said. I didn't say that you
didn't hear what Okay, what are you saying.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Color, I'm saying I listened to the radio, and that's
that's what they were.
Speaker 10 (20:26):
That's what they were saying.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
What they.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Were ready to throw the co like like okay, he
won or whatever, but we're moving on. He ain't that
guy that down oh two. That was the That was
the beat, the drum beat that that you got. That's
why they disrespected him after two games. Didn't think he
had the heart of a champion. Didn't think he had They.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Anybody said he didn't have the heart of a champion.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
People didn't believe that they had a heart he had
a heart of a champion because they did.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
I'm about two games, Chris, you make that gonna lose? Yes? Really?
Speaker 4 (21:05):
So?
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Yeah, that loses in the playoffs doesn't happen. No, not
a guy.
Speaker 6 (21:08):
Who just won a championship been at one three out
of four NBC.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Okay, do Johannis have the heart of a champion?
Speaker 4 (21:15):
Chris, I'm talking about how they I'm talking about how
they reacted.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Does Johannis have the heart of a champ?
Speaker 6 (21:20):
How they reacted?
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Yannest has been hurt the last couple of years, nobody's
even counting on him.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Now he's playing in the games in does he have
the heart of a champion?
Speaker 6 (21:30):
Inn This ridiculous, Corona, California.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
You can't pick anybody to lose and think they're still
a great player.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 10 (21:38):
Hey guys, great show as always, Chris, I think listen.
You know what was happening a lot, Chris and Rob.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
You're right.
Speaker 10 (21:44):
People were writing off the Nuggets. But who's the best
player on the Nuggets.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
It's Nicole?
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Yes, Nick?
Speaker 7 (21:49):
Right? Nick?
Speaker 10 (21:50):
Sorry, I'll tell him my voice down. You had Nick
Wright hosting videos of Jokic not.
Speaker 9 (21:56):
Playing great defense and thank you?
Speaker 5 (21:58):
Are we gonna hold him to this great?
Speaker 3 (22:00):
At least you gave me a name?
Speaker 7 (22:02):
Okay, yeah, yeah, if a hold on, hold on.
Speaker 10 (22:03):
Antonio Daniels last week said I don't know what adjustments could.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Be you but is that saying is it great?
Speaker 5 (22:11):
No? But it's not. But it's not.
Speaker 7 (22:13):
It's the game, no, Chris, You're right.
Speaker 10 (22:17):
It is a team game. But there's no other sport
where one person can impose their will, and Nikolic the
last three games has absolutely imposed his will will not
let his team lose. Sure, Murray had a flurry at
the beginning of the third quarter the other night. But
nicole Ki put the team on his back, and yeah,
I know he can't beat them by himself, but he
(22:38):
kind of looks like he's beating them by himself because
he's controlling the pace of the game, and guys like that.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
He's the best player, yes, but do they win?
Speaker 1 (22:47):
I mean, my point is, you need You also needed
Aaron Gordon to step up and have a phenomenal game
last night. You need a KCP to hit some big shots.
You need i know, Christian Brown to play well off
the bitch. I'm just saying like this notion that now
when you say a team is going to lose, Chris,
you're you're you're criticizing their best player.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Is ridiculous because we just had.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Let me, nobody thought Yannis had a chance to win
this championship after we saw him and Dane were playing
before he got hurt. And that did not mean people
thought Yanni's wasn't a great player.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Chris, you just we just had.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
We had three random callers from all over the country
who don't know each other, aren't on the same They
all agree with me. Whether or not you want to
say that you see it. My point is that they
saw it, Okay, but we saw it. You don't have
to say that you saw it. We just had three
random people who watch and listen, and they all agree
(23:47):
with me. There was that feeling, that's all I'm saying, Well,
that can't you acknowledge that?
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Well?
Speaker 3 (23:53):
When he brought up Nick Wright's tweets, I haven't seen
Nick sweet.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Obviously I'm on the show with Nick every day, but
I didn't see his tweets about Jokish being able to
play defense and all that stuff. I just want some
proof because I'm shocked at any and what Nick said
on our show was if you got three MVPs in
four years, this is what guys who've done that have done.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
They've won.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
So all right, eight seven, seven ninety down on Fox

Our Next Guest NBA Champion series XM NBA analysts, Pelicans
color analysts, also a Fox Sports Radio NBA analyst. We
welcome in our man, Antonio Daniels. Antonio, what's up?
Speaker 7 (24:49):
Yo? Yo?
Speaker 5 (24:50):
What's the fellas? And Rob?
Speaker 4 (24:52):
You are one, correct, Antonio, go ahead on po, yes,
and it's on.
Speaker 5 (25:02):
Now.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Let me ask you this. They would you, oh no,
let me And this is what I was arguing with Rob.
Just because people thought Denver was going to get beat does.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Not mean that they're saying Jokic. That's all I was arguing.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Because you you wrote off Denver, but I don't think
you were thinking Nikola Jokic is is still the best
player in the world.
Speaker 7 (25:23):
I didn't write off Denver. I said that the series
was not over. I didn't say the series was over.
And when they were down to oh yes, I said
they deserve some championship grace on this platform and many others.
There's no way I wrote off Denver, Rector.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
I thought you, I thought you had no win in
the series.
Speaker 7 (25:42):
No no. But here's the thing. Here's not thing though
why I say Rob is right because you're right. You're right, Chris.
Speaker 5 (25:50):
There is a.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
Difference between saying Denver's gonna lose and writing off Jokis.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
How mean people called in Do you know how many people.
Speaker 7 (25:57):
Called in our serious XM show when Denver was two
and call Nikola Jokics overrated?
Speaker 5 (26:02):
Thank you, the member Nuggets team was overrated.
Speaker 7 (26:06):
That they knew that he wasn't this good. They did
had an easier run last year in the place, thank you.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
That's what they tried to discredit him, Yes.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
No question about it.
Speaker 7 (26:15):
They definitely tried to discredit him. And what with me.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
This is the funniest and.
Speaker 7 (26:21):
Most frustrating thing about covering the playoffs is the fact
that the narratives changed so quickly. Now the phone stopped ringing,
The phone stopped ringing about those that were writing off
Nikola Jokics.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
Now it's going the other way, you know now all
the because somebody has to get blamed when you lose.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
No teams just lose and just walk off in the sunset,
especially in the postseason, like it's a blessing and a
curse to make it to the postseasons. The blessing is
you make it to the postseason. The curse is the
fact that when you lose, conversations are head that aren't
had otherwise.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Well you look given receipts like that, I'll accept that.
If you act callers calling in saying Jokic, isn't this good?
And I didn't see that, But that's fine. If you
say that, that's good, I'll accept that.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
I tried to tell you.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
I didn't write down everybody's name, But I'm just talking
about Antonio, the vibe that I got, the reason that
people were so quick to give up.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
You just talked about it.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
They won a championship and right away they lose two games,
and they were waiting because.
Speaker 6 (27:28):
There there's a there's to me.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
This is this is just what I feel. There's no
math to this.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
There's no science, okay, is that they don't want him
to be the best player.
Speaker 6 (27:37):
They would rather not him be the best player. They
would rather not and if because.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
He doesn't fit in with with everything that's the NBA.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
This guy comes over.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
He treats this job like a nine to five Antonio
like he's working.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
He's over here.
Speaker 6 (27:54):
He can't wait for the season to be over.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
He can't wait to go back to his homeland right
and and play around his horses and lived that life.
He's not a part of this. He doesn't care about
this stuff. He's not wrapped up in social media and
beat with other people.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
Well, my thing is, I'm not saying I disagree with you, Rob,
But what I'm asking.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
Is, if they don't want Yogis to be that guy,
who do they want.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
To be that they want?
Speaker 3 (28:19):
They want air Man.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
They were hoping, they were hoping against hope that this
guy who won one playoff series in his life and
was up to Oh, that they were ready to stay.
I've seen it before. Devin Booker. Oh, he's the next
Kobe Bryant. They were up to Oh in the in
the finals against Milwaukee. Oh, Chris Paul is the top
five point guard now when he wins the championship. I'm
(28:43):
just saying, like, this is what people do, and if
they could discard Jokics, they would, That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
Antonio, Do you think that I don't disagree with that?
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Do you think the series is over?
Speaker 7 (28:56):
Yes, Minnesota Versary, Yes, I do now. I definitely do
now because it's almost like the life has been taken
away from Minnesota. Like if you look at the first
two games, they were allowed to defend at a level
that wasn't permitted in Game three. In Game four, and
(29:16):
I felt like that swayed and messed with them mentally,
the same aggression that they played with defensively in games three.
In game four they weren't allowed and gaged one in
game two.
Speaker 5 (29:26):
They weren't allowed to.
Speaker 7 (29:28):
Get away with in games three in game four, and
that was a huge swing. So now after you, you know,
for me, I got a question for you guys. Are
you guys okay with what e f ne Eword said
yesterday after the game about Nikola jokicch being the.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Best player and he just laughed, yes, yeah, I am
is the truth.
Speaker 5 (29:46):
But you know what, you're the best.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Player in the world. Doesn't mean you don't think you
can beat them, right, But I don't know if you
have to say it. I don't.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
I don't have to play you a competence what we.
Speaker 7 (29:55):
Talked about today, because I wonder so when Michael Jordan never.
Speaker 5 (29:59):
Say that.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Larry Bird.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Larry Bird said Michael Jordan was God this GUIs or yeah, God,
disguise is Michael Jordan.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
That series wasn't over yet.
Speaker 5 (30:10):
It was after sixty.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Three in game two. And that's Larry Bird, who's as
competitive as they come.
Speaker 7 (30:15):
I think we all know Christ and Rob like there's
a difference between like you can something can be true,
but just because it's true doesn't mean it has to
be said.
Speaker 5 (30:25):
I love Adia.
Speaker 7 (30:26):
I think he's the best SoundBite in the NBA because
I love how real he is. I agree, I'm the
kind of juxtaposed to this. I wonder how this was
viewed by players from the eighties, players from a different generation.
Is this something that was viewed us well, he's telling
the truth, or is this something that was viewed us well,
he's telling the truth. But this is something you wait
(30:47):
to say until the series is over and decided.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Well, we will see them.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
I'm not writing them off yet. Obviously they they're down
and but they're not out yet. But I'm not writing
them off. Let's get to the other series. Dallas, OKC,
who do you have pulling this thing out tonight and
in the series?
Speaker 7 (31:09):
I have Okay, I have Dallas tonight, and I have
Dallas in the series. I had Dallas in the series
before it started, and I do have Dallas tonight. But
if those two meaning that backcourt, Kyrie and Lucas don't play, well,
Dallas ain't winning. They ain't winning anyway. You look at it,
and there was a reason that many people, myself included,
(31:32):
Dallas was one of the most dangerous teams in the
Western Conference heading into the postseason because of those two guys,
because of Luca and because of Kyrie. And the thing
is right now, it's two to two and Luca and
Kyrie still have not played well yet. So if they
can find that that gear that both of those guys
had to in the regular season, that both of those
(31:53):
guys had in the first round series versus Clippers, then
they finished this in six.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
What do you quickly before you go Kyrie? Because he's
had two nine point games in this series. His floor
game has been okay, but I don't think he's being
aggressive enough. He's only taking twelve shots a game in
this series. What do you kind of see going on
with him?
Speaker 7 (32:15):
I don't know. I mean, the thing is, I want
to give credit to Okay, see, because they're putting lyft
whether it's Jacob Jalen Williams or Aaron Wiggins, they're putting
lyft on him. Kason Wallace, to be at rookie, is
a really good defender. So they're throwing different looks at
Kyrie and obviously lou dort is going head to head
with Lucas. He has twenty one thousand and four games,
(32:38):
you know, So it's it's a lot. It's a lot
that's going on. It's a whole lot that's going on.
I don't I don't know about the aggressiveness because Kyrie
it seems like he allows the game to breathe in
the first half, and then what we've seen is the
second half is when he becomes ultra aggressive. It starts
to kick some things in gear. But he hasn't had
(32:58):
that same aggressive in the second half of a lot
of these games.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
Especially It's okay see thunder.
Speaker 6 (33:05):
Right, all right?
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (33:07):
One last thing before the playoffs started, I thought to myself,
I said this on the show that if the Joker wins,
that would be three wins it back to back championship
and three out of four MVPs. I said, I don't
know how we can't consider him to be a top
ten player when you think about the other players who
(33:27):
are out there now to be able to do this
without another All Star or first team NBA player on
your squad, just Antonio, where would he fit in if
they win and especially this one, if they come back
and win the championship down two, losing your first two
games at home, and.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
You go all the way to win a title.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
Would he be able to enter the top ten in
your estimation or not yet?
Speaker 5 (33:52):
Have you mean top ten all times?
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Yep?
Speaker 5 (33:55):
I don't know, Like I.
Speaker 7 (33:56):
Don't have a top ten list, like that's something I've
never actually said that down and put together.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
I mean, there are some things about Nikola Jokis I
don't think that we can we can question I.
Speaker 7 (34:08):
Feel like he's the most skilled center ever.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
I don't know where he's the first point center too, right.
Speaker 7 (34:15):
You can't find a center that that size, with that
skill set that has that ability to see, not just see,
but also deliver because a lot of centers can see
it and a lot of point guards can see it,
but you don't have the skill set to actually delivered
that past. So I don't know where he sits all
the time as far as top ten whatever it may be.
But I think he's definitely in that conversation, especially with
(34:38):
the accolades that you just named, Rob and the the
meter are still running. So it's not like he's at
the end of his career. It's not like he's his
career right, well, yeah, has a lot of work to do.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
I think he could definitely become a top ten player
of all time. I wouldn't have him there yet after
just his second championship.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
That's my view of it.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
But I hear you, all right, thanks, all right, great stuff, Antonio, thank.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
You for sure.
Speaker 7 (35:07):
Appreciate it, fellas.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
All right, Rob, I want your top ten. I want
the guy who's going he's gonna move out. I want
to know it, step in the top ten to play
my top ten. But but I want your top ten.
That's different. We'll get to that next. Hey, Rob, a
couple of Fox. I'm not ready for that.

Speaker 6 (36:30):
The NFL has come out with their schedule.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
You running stuff? What's that you running running for?
Speaker 7 (36:37):
What?
Speaker 3 (36:38):
I want to hear? Your top ten? I don't have it.
I don't I want to ask you here, Okay.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
I don't have there's the eleven guy have I don't
have that.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
I don't have already.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
But I think these are the eleven guys that generally
are in consideration for the top ten.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
So two of them have to come off.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
You put Yogic ahead of two of these guys if
they win it.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Jordan lebron.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
Kareem, Magic Bird that's five, Kobe Duncan, Russell, Shaq Will
that's ten, and Steph that's eleven.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
So, off the top of my.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
Head, Shack and Steph so he's he he will be
if he wins.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Yep, he'll pass Shack to me and Steph.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
And that didn't mean Steph could be eleven, Shack could
be twelve or whatever you want to make it. But
to win three out of Steph has what the what
do you win on one of m VP?
Speaker 1 (37:40):
He got two MVPs with only unanimous ever and four
championships and four championships. Shas got one MVP and four championships.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Yep, I would those would be the two that I
would move down. That's fair.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
I just wanted to because you know, everybody throws out
top ten, but somebody got to come off.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
So you you answered it, all right?
Speaker 4 (38:01):
That's that's those those two guys would come off.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
All right? Did you do the thorough brand race? All done?
Speaker 4 (38:08):
The only thing we need to do is the NFL
is ready to I know real quick. So what is
it that they're ready to charge people even more money
to watch NFL games? And they got a game Chris
on Netflix this year with it where if you don't
have Netflix, you're out of luck. Two games on Netflix.
I mean yeah, I mean on a bad spot.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
I think the gambling helps them, right, because people are
gambling on these games fantasy football, and so they want
to tune in. But and as long as they keep
tons of games on free TV rod they can be okay.
Remember boxing did this with the pay per views and
all that. And now it's it's you know, it's an
(38:52):
inch sport, right exactly.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
And that's why you gotta be careful with it. Because
what you gotta be careful of. You don't want kids
in households who don't have cable or don't have that
kind of you know, money, to not watch the game
and they grow up without the game.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
I agree, all right, mora couple coming your way, keep
it locked.
