the finals, but this one was even different from that
because they had won two games on the road and
looks so impressive doing it.

That's the part that got people, I think will re
look at this team and see what happened.

Yeah, and so it was a total shift in the series,
and it was it was just an odd series initially
with you know, the two games, the four first four
games a home team did not win. And so we'll
see that flipped on in game five when Denver won
in Colorado. We'll see if Minnesota can keep that trend
going by winning at home.

I don't feel good about Minnesota at all. I got
them in seven. I'm sticking with it, and uh, they
just better.

about you felt like there was a lot of disrespect
out there for Nicola Jokic, and now you're extending it
to where you feel like there's a lot of disrespect
of international players in general.

There have been a few statements made by American players
and X players recently. Can you kind of run down
a few things so just to give the audience some context.

I think it all started, at least to my knowledge,
publicly a couple of years ago, when James Harden was
in the thick of the MVP race with the Houston
Rockets and he was going head to head with Giannis
out the Gumbo, and you recall, thank you, you recall
that James Harden was not feeling the idea of the
Greek freak being named the MVP over him. Here's that

viral comment from James Harden back in the day.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
When it's all said and done, you know, they'll appreciate
it more, you know. But I wish I could just
run running with seven feet and run and just dump
like that. Takes no skill at all. I got to
actually learn how to play basketball and how to have skill,
you know. I take that in your day.

I don't know if that was based on Janni's being
you know, international player, you know what I mean it was.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
I think it was based on his style of play
and Harden and that's fair.

this next one, though, Chris, because it's only gets worse
from there.

You had Kendrick Perkins famously say that Yogis not only
was the stat adding, but he was only getting m
v P love because he was white. We're gonna choose
not to play that one because that was a little
bit too off color.

Was that in? That was white America? I mean, I
don't know so well.

There aren't any white guys from America right any MVP.

That's the problem.

But Gilbert Arenez has taken the toys from Kendrick Perkins
and he's been really going heavy on Nikolae Jokic, including
a couple of weeks ago where he suggested that Joker
would be the worst MVP the NBA has ever seen.

Serious, now, I do understand when they say this about Jokic.
Jokic is probably, statistically when it comes to overall game,
the worst MVP winner.

He's the worst MVP winner the last forty years.

Why do you say that when you're talking about.

MVP the guys outside of first and second place, their
teams was first and second place. The people who won
the MVP, their teams was first and second.

Okay, I will say, and I'm not trying to again
defend Gilbert uh Arenas, but I want is he if
he's saying worse in terms of your seeding, because before
it's true that Yoka's first two championships, I'm sorry MVPs,

they didn't win fifty games, and it's rare for a
player to win the MVP without fifty wins. One of
them was the strike short or the pandemic shortened season,
so that kind of thrown out. But the other one
was not fifty wins, and one of his first two
MVPs was as a sixth seed. He's talking about No,
this was before Yokis won it. No, but he's talking

about this one, Chris. But rob My point Arenas's comment
was made before Yokis was naming.

Jokic is nasty. He is a phenomenal player. All I'm
trying to say is was Gilbert. I don't know if
he was saying he's the worst MVP as far as
he's just not as good of a player as the
rest of them, or if he was one of the
few to win it as a sixty. The only other

six seed I know in the last since nineteen eighty
and writers have been voting to win the MVP eighty
one nineteen eighty one was Russell Westbrook when he did
it with a triple double. That's the only other six
seed that I can recall winning the MVP.

So I'm just saying it's possible. He meant that, but
go ahead, that is possible.

He also said earlier this week that if we take
away the assists, then Yogic's numbers are not that great.
But last one and this is probably the most prevalent
because it's been going on all week. If you've been
watching Inside the NBA, Draymond Greene's been filling in doing
an admirable job, but he can't seem to stop taking
shots at Rudy Gobert.

Here's one of the things he said, this.

Series ain't coming back to Minnesota. Number one. The big
Frenchman is sitting on that podium speaking his native language.
We need to do this. You you, you need to
get a stop. It ain't we. Carl Anthony Towns is
actually doing a pretty good job when he's o joker.

So I think every dig and it doesn't mean he
can't criticize him, but I do think he's taking it

too far anyway, I don't want to be too long winded, Chris.
I do believe that players in the NBA, former players
in the NBA feel that they can, but they feel
like they can rip on the European players because they're
not gonna push back. They're not going to be confrontational.
They would not do this to other black players in

the league. That's just my gut feeling that they would
have never yeah black American players that they would Joanness,
what is is gonna do?

That's just not his makeup.

He wouldn't do that if it was some other I

And I do believe there's a and they better get

do think that there's a wave of anti foreign players

that is going on because they're winning the awards and
they're playing at a high level and I.

I think they should understand how hard it is to
play this game and don't try to beat down people
who are excelling at it.

there is some jealousy because these dudes are Let's just
face it, guys, right now, the best players in the
world are not from America playing the city now. Overall,
if you want to go fifty deep, you want to
go twenty five deep, you wanna go fifty deep, you
wanna go one hundred deep. Sure, we got the best,

you know, the majority of the better players, but the
absolute elite level, the top five.

sent me his top six players, and I'm I'm his
top six players right now in the NBA here it

his rounding out his top ten, Rob Lebron, Durant, Curry,
and Jason Tatum, Lebron Durant Curry are gonna be retiring
in a few so where and you said Wimby, Wimby
is gonna be this list. I mean Wimby next year
might be top five. I think he'll definitely be top ten.

And so I would I agree with you, Rob, I
do think. Look, they better not mess up and think
these international dudes aren't as tough, cause you know, they
just are soft spoken and they're in a different country
and they might write, they might not want to come
out here and just act the fool. But don't think

that some of these dudes can't knock you out, just
like an American could knock you out. Secondly, and I
think the more important point, Rob, is it's probably some
jealousy because they are they are taking over, and like
you know, we have felt like this is our game,

Black Americans, this is our game. And now you see,
the best player in the world is a slow white
dude that can't jump, and he's the best player in
the world.

more about than reporting us think it was about the topic.
It's just typical another I'm not trying to compare it

it's just some of the tendencies that are you know,
a big, less serious situation like where immigrants are being
abilified and more worse than that, I'm an immigrant for
making cool, right and this our experience in the United States.

thankfully it hasn't gotten to any type of level life.

to blame a certain group of people. We know in
American history, whenever they wanted to blame people right for
doing bad things, they would put on feathers and war
pain and say the Native Americans they did it.

sign that that is gone that far.

I'm just saying, you know what I mean, these guys
are just I think I think it's easy. They're just
easier targets because they're not going to push back and

So what I'm saying is when the information that I
had gathered, I wouldn't be surprised at that point after

what I seen if they got swept. But they have
turned it around, totally turned it around. Jokic is back
to being the Yokis that he is, Jamal Murray is
going crazy, and so I am surprised that that turn
around happened this way to where it could be four straight.
I didn't think four straight after seeing game three, you know,

but in game four, but right now, I mean, they
got all the momentum, man, And you know how it is.
It's a fickles. The game is fickle. All games are fickle, man.
It's about momentum and who has it on their side.

I think it will be a combination of both. I
think it'd be a combination of a man you know,
sometimes happen to go through it all all the great.
All of the guys that end up winning it, they
have to go through it at some point, whether it
be the first round, second round, getting swept in certain series,
or getting to the conference finals and losing, or getting
to the finals and losing to finally get over that hump.

So I think that it would be a combination of both.
You would look at a team that responded to their
coach when he called them out. Their stars are showing
up because in the playoffs, the stars as will win it.
Role Players are going to help you games here and there,
but your stars got to be carrying you and the
role players can put you over the top every once
and again, if that makes sense. So I think it

will be a combination of both. You know, and I'm
not stradling the fence or you know, none of that.
I just think two things could be true at once.

At the same time, Eddie Draymond Green said that Rudy
go not Rudy Gobert, Karl Anthony towns limping after the game. Look,
the dude played thirty eight minutes. I didn't see a
limp for most of that thirty eight minutes. But after
the game he was limping back to the locker room,
and some have even felt like Anthony Edwards' comments about

Jokic being the best player in the world, saying that
before a series was over that they've suggested or said
outright that those are signs that they've kind of surrendered,
like they know they're beaten. I'm hoping that's not the case.
I'm still pulling for Minnesota to win this thing. But
do you think that is the case?

No, I don't think it's the case. I think Anthony Edwards,
you know, he just he can't miss you love every
interview that he gives, every time that he's on the
podium or anything that he has to say. He can't
say anything wrong. And he's not wrong by saying they
got the best player in the world. He won the
MVP and what is it, two out of three years
was the MVP and everybody, everybody agrees to the fact.

It's not like he said something that was out of pocket.
He said something that is consensus that everybody around this play. Okay,
let me ask you this, Chris, who's the best player
in the world.

But there's some people believe that you don't need to
say that until after you're done competing with them. That's

out the negative about them. Then I'm quite sure that
there's people that really mess with Rudy Gobert and say

everything good about him. Right, But even if Yokis didn't
win the MVP this year, Shake Guilty should have won

Right, But does that black players or the players from
this country don't play with skill or can't compete on
that level. I get what you want to open up
the game to bring in international players, but what does
that mean about the players from the United States and
why they aren't competing on that level to be MVPs anymore?

Well, I will say there are guys that are competing
on the level to be MVPs. Jagent Tatum was on
on some of the ballots and probably got some votes,
I don't know what, maybe not no first place votes,
but he was.

Not in the top five top I thought he should
have been, but he wasn't. He was on my ballot.

Okay, So I think this the AAU. The way the
AU is set up is set up to be individual basketball,
one on one basketball, and not really hone the skills
and guys are so you know, it's so monetized now
to where a lot of these coaches are scared to
coach these young players because they're in fear of that
they would lose them, Like, Okay, if I coach them
hard and riding, then they'll go to another team to

where they're able to do whatever they want. And so
I think that's what we're seeing. It's a byproduct of
that in my eyes, you know, being around I.

Think you're right, but I think that has to change.
Don't you think that has to change? Because you're right, Eddie.
We if we talk about the twenty five or fifty
or one hundred best players in the world, most of
them are going to be American. But when you right now,
when you talk about the top five, maybe one All

being coached hard and being you know, outplayed in practice
every day by grown men.

Yeah, and I agree with you, unless you got to
think about guys over there when we talk about, you know,
the differences of American players, and if you are American
player that live in the hood or the ghetto and struggling,
you're not struggling because there's a program that's going to
take care of you and your family and make sure
that they push you up looking for back in handoff.
At the end of the day, when you get drafted

over there, they just stuck it. They just stuck where
they're at, you know what I mean. They're stuck and
they got to grind and grind and grind and get
where they're at. But it starts with the coaches. Man
at the end of the day, Chris, I'll say and
Rob I'll say this. It starts with the guys that
are in these grassroots programs that have to have integrity.
And I will say this, in the grassroots program I've

been around, is a lot not too many guys that
have that. Man, that's the mess up part about it.

publicly a couple of years ago, when James Harden was
in the thick of the MVP race with the Houston
Rockets and he was going head to head with Giannis

that James Harden was not feeling the idea of the
Greek freak being named the MVP over him. Here's that

viral comment from James Harden back in the day.

When it's all said and done, you know, they'll appreciate
it more, you know. But I wish I could just
run running with seven feet and run and just dump
like that. Takes no skill at all. I got to

Jokic is probably, statistically when it comes to overall game,

them was the strike short or the pandemic shortened season,

was not fifty wins, and one of his first two

got all the momentum, man, And you know how it is.
It's a fickles. The game is fickle. All games are fickle, man.
It's about momentum and who has it on their side.

If it's over and Denver does win and it's four

I think it will be a combination of both. I
think it'd be a combination of a man you know,
sometimes happen to go through it all all the great.
All of the guys that end up winning it, they
have to go through it at some point, whether it
be the first round, second round, getting swept in certain series,
or getting to the conference finals and losing, or getting
to the finals and losing to finally get over that hump.

So I think that it would be a combination of both.
You would look at a team that responded to their
coach when he called them out. Their stars are showing
up because in the playoffs, the stars as will win it.
Role Players are going to help you games here and there,
but your stars got to be carrying you and the
role players can put you over the top every once
and again, if that makes sense. So I think it

will be a combination of both. You know, and I'm
not stradling the fence or you know, none of that.
I just think two things could be true at once.

At the same time, Eddie Draymond Green said that Rudy
go not Rudy Gobert, Karl Anthony towns limping after the game. Look,
the dude played thirty eight minutes. I didn't see a
limp for most of that thirty eight minutes. But after
the game he was limping back to the locker room,
and some have even felt like Anthony Edwards' comments about

Jokic being the best player in the world, saying that
before a series was over that they've suggested or said
outright that those are signs that they've kind of surrendered,
like they know they're beaten. I'm hoping that's not the case.
I'm still pulling for Minnesota to win this thing. But
do you think that is the case?

No, I don't think it's the case. I think Anthony Edwards,
you know, he just he can't miss you love every
interview that he gives, every time that he's on the
podium or anything that he has to say. He can't
say anything wrong. And he's not wrong by saying they
got the best player in the world. He won the
MVP and what is it, two out of three years
was the MVP and everybody, everybody agrees to the fact.

It's not like he said something that was out of pocket.
He said something that is consensus that everybody around this play. Okay,
let me ask you this, Chris, who's the best player
in the world.

But there's some people believe that you don't need to
say that until after you're done competing with them. That's

But I think that that some of the players think
they can go at these guys because they're not going
to push back. That's just not their makeup there in
a foreign land. They're not gonna go back at these guys,
and they seem to be getting dissed or discredited a.

back and guys. You remember one of the Morris twins
was out for the rest of the season and half
of the other one. Yeah, after Yokis went back at him,
So I wouldn't say that.

so that was a physical altercation.

Yeah, So I don't think that, so they'll push back.
Guys are gonna push back their men. At the end
of the day. It's certain people that certain people don't like,
and if you have it all depends on who's talking.
They can talk about somebody good or they talk about
somebody bad. If you don't like somebody, you could put
out the negative about them. Then I'm quite sure that
there's people that really mess with Rudy Gobert and say

everything good about him. Right, But even if Yokis didn't
win the MVP this year, Shake Guilty should have won

what I'm saying he should have won that.

Exactly, That's my point. So it would have been another international player.

the NBA wanted this. The NBA has been targeting this
for over thirty years of making this game global, becoming
a global game. And this is what you get when

You're gonna get guys coming from anywhere, all.

Right, But does that black players or the players from
this country don't play with skill or can't compete on
that level. I get what you want to open up
the game to bring in international players, but what does
that mean about the players from the United States and
why they aren't competing on that level to be MVPs anymore?

Well, I will say there are guys that are competing
on the level to be MVPs. Jagent Tatum was on
on some of the ballots and probably got some votes,
I don't know what, maybe not no first place votes,
but he was.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Not in the top five top I thought he should
have been, but he wasn't. He was on my ballot.
Speaker 11 (31:11):
Okay, So I think this the AAU. The way the
AU is set up is set up to be individual basketball,
one on one basketball, and not really hone the skills
and guys are so you know, it's so monetized now
to where a lot of these coaches are scared to
coach these young players because they're in fear of that
they would lose them, Like, Okay, if I coach them
hard and riding, then they'll go to another team to

where they're able to do whatever they want. And so
I think that's what we're seeing. It's a byproduct of
that in my eyes, you know, being around I.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Think you're right, but I think that has to change.
Don't you think that has to change? Because you're right, Eddie.
We if we talk about the twenty five or fifty
or one hundred best players in the world, most of
them are going to be American. But when you right now,
when you talk about the top five, maybe one All
International Edwards is gonna you know, he's up in there somewhere.

much love, so many accolades you got. You're probably making

dudes overseas aren't fifteen and working their butts off and

being coached hard and being you know, outplayed in practice
every day by grown men.

Yeah, and I agree with you, unless you got to
think about guys over there when we talk about, you know,
the differences of American players, and if you are American
player that live in the hood or the ghetto and struggling,
you're not struggling because there's a program that's going to
take care of you and your family and make sure
that they push you up looking for back in handoff.
At the end of the day, when you get drafted

over there, they just stuck it. They just stuck where
they're at, you know what I mean. They're stuck and
they got to grind and grind and grind and get
where they're at. But it starts with the coaches. Man
at the end of the day, Chris, I'll say and
Rob I'll say this. It starts with the guys that
are in these grassroots programs that have to have integrity.
And I will say this, in the grassroots program I've

been around, is a lot not too many guys that
have that. Man, that's the mess up part about it.

I think she'll I actually think she'll get better in
short order. I think she'll cut down on these turnovers
and things like that. But I also feel like Rob,

Whenever we talked about it, it was yesterday, like the
first you know, impression or you mentioned the US.

God, the first week is the biggest seller, and if
you don't get them in, you're gonna lose them. I
think that's different for a sport, you know, like a
basketball somewhere.

If say, in game you know, sixteen.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
She starts cooking and cooks for the rest of the season,
people will tune back in.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Now I don't know that that.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
I don't think they'll reach the numbers maybe the league thought,
but people will like she can still recapture the fans
if she becomes the player people thought she would.

But I don't. I think the college college is just
more exciting.

It's the march madness, and I don't know they'll ever
get like it was with the college for her.

Had she lit up the game one right and made
these amazing threes and all that other stuff, ain't no
way they would be selling tickets for four dollars right right?

But are you saying they can't know what? I'm saying

But as you go on and it ain't magic, you
give more people a reason to go like, Okay, she's gotta.
