You're listening to the Best of the Odd Couple with
Chris Bruson and Ron Parker.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Rob, we got a big time Game seven in Denver
on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
The Timberwolves. Man, what a performance.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
They route Denver by forty five points, lairboy as much
as fifty, and they didn't take their foot off the gas,
which was impressive. Because I'll be honest, Rob, watching that game,
and I know you said it was over. I think
in the second quarter seven. I was like, during the third,
eight and the third, I'm like, man, look, today's NBA
(01:03):
Denver is great.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
No, you know, I thought it was.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
You know, they were comfortable, but I still was like,
you know, let's see until you know, or kind of
early in the fourth quarter. But anyway, who do you like?
I got two questions for you. Who do you think
wins Game seven? And why and then who do you
(01:29):
think it is better for the NBA to have win
Game seven Yo Kitchen, the Nuggets or Anthony Edwards and
the Timberwolves.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
I think Denver wins at home Game seven. Bad day
at the office last night, just just gotta kind of
wipe it out, get back to doing what you're doing.
You're never gonna shoot that Polly again. And then for
the NBA, I think the Nuggets are an impressive story.
(02:00):
I know everybody likes the new hotness, and I think
there's time for the Timberwolves an ant man and everybody's excited.
But if the Joker pulls this off and wins another
championship back to back. We talk about it all the
time about having little dynasties. That could be an intriguing
storyline as we go forward. And who will be able
(02:22):
to knock off the Joker going forward? Who will be
that team? Is there somebody to do it? I think
that's an interesting storyline. So I see the Minnesota side, Chris,
but I like everything about Denver. They were a team
only one All star like, there's a lot of things
that like about them. They're a complete team. A lot
(02:43):
of people it's hard to dislike that team. What is
there to dislike about the Denver Nuggets. I'm not saying
you're rooting for him, Chris, don't get me wrong, like
other fan bases, but it's hard for me to look
at that team with Mike Malone and that squad and say, oh,
I hate those guys.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Oh no, of course I agree with that, And I
agree that having Denver win and going to win the
championship is not bad for the league because we've talked
about it, rob when they've had dynasties. As much as
people like parody, the seems like the league has been
(03:20):
at its height or its highest levels when there's been dynasties.
In the eighties, of course you had to show time Lakers,
and you had the Bird Celtics who were right there
with them. In the nineties, of course you had Jordan.
I mean, those are just too pivotal, probably not probably
Robbed clearly the two most pivotal errors in the history
(03:43):
of the league, and they were revolving around dynasties. Then
you even had Shaq and Kobe, you know, which was
a dynasty. So I agree with you that if the
Nuggets win and go on to win, ambit wins, right,
it's not bad, and you know, like I said, there
would be really good points because then you're right, it
would be okay An came close?
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Is next year the year? Now there's a storyline you've.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Already created, right, he's win or lose. The Timberwolves are
going to be a story.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Going forward, like like can they get there? What's the
missing piece? Do they need to add something? Or is
this just about a man developing and and all that.
It will not be Oh my god, that's it and
sweat and it's all done. I agree that said Rob.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
I do think it still would be better for the
league if Minnesota wins, because Anthony Edwards is the most
exciting player, certainly of these two teams, and arguably I
mean with Jahn Moran out when Ben Yama is obviously
fun to watch and he's coming with his height, he's
just its unique seeing.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Somebody that big do those things.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
But it's certainly fair to say Anthony Edwards is the
most exciting player in the league, Rob.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
People do like the spectacular game, right Jokic.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
I actually love watching Yokic play because I just think
he's so smart and he's so skilled, and we've never
seen a big guy like his size do the things
he does. But there is a little element this guy
was not as to me, was not as nearly as
fun to watch as Jokic, but Rob Tim Duncan, there's
(05:28):
a little bit of that in that, you know, he's
not a high flyer, he's not a trash talker, he's
not you know, dunking a lot and all of that stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
So I think people like that.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
They love Michael Jordan, they love Kobe Bryant, just the
excitement that their games bring because of the high flying nature,
the dunks and even this swag and all of that.
So I do think if Anthony Edwards in the Timberble win,
it would be better for the league. And then you look,
(06:05):
Luca versus Jokic is a great storyline assuming Dallas wins
that series. But Luca versus Anthony Edwards could I maybe
be even better? Do they are they guarding each other
or at least as Anthony Edwards guarding Luca at times?
They're similar positions, they're closer. I don't know if they're
(06:27):
closer in age, but you know they're they're both younger
players than Jokics. That could be a rivalry and not
to mention, if the Timberwolves get to the finals, then
you got Anthony Edwards and Jason Tatum presumably, so you
know what I mean, Like, I think both are good,
but I think Anthony Edwards would be even better.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
For the league.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
And if you're the Nuggets or Nuggets fans I was
talking about, Justin couldn't make any shots. Here's per NBA
dot com Chris. They track game six the Nuggets shots
seven for third six nineteen point four percent from three
in Game six. Here it is thirty one of their
thirty six threes were classified as either open or wide open,
(07:10):
and they made six of those.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
That's incredible. Like they had looks.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Remember I was saying to you earlier when we're watching,
like they had looks because they.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Doubled the timberworee going Downsted and doubled Yokish and you
challenged those other guys to beat you and Robert huge
And one of the reasons I picked the Timberwolves to
win the series was because I felt like Jamal Murray
wasn't one hundred percent with the calf, and last night,
rober big storyline was he hurt his elbow early in
the game, he said afterwards, And we'll get to that later,
(07:39):
but he said, you know, it did bother him a bit,
and he shot four for eighteen as great, and Yoga's
just you don't even have to say he's the best
player on the team.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
He's the best player in the world.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
But they need Murray is like Lebron needed Kyrie, you know,
like Murray is kind of their closer.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Yeah, but yo, because the other day in game five
had the forty uh yeh.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Look, I mean just the best player.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
But I'm not saying that you can't get anything, but
you just can't take four for eighteen. Like he doesn't
have to put up, he doesn't have to make eleven shots.
He doesn't have to be he could just like he
did with the Lakers. He didn't shoot that well guess
the Lakers. No, no, no, but he made but he made
a big shot. And that's what you might just need him.
I count those this good game. Yeah, I don't care
what he shot. Yeah, but he made You could just
(08:26):
make a couple of big shots and that.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Could be he is. He is critical. They're not champions
without Jamal Murray.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
I just think that they can get by with one
game and I'm not saying that you can't have that
kind of night. But I'm not saying like just because
he's banged up that they said that with the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
You remember that was the whole premise.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Oh no, he's he's banged up now, not a Lakers
got a shot.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Oh Jamal Murray came out at thirty or whatever it was. No,
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
I need he needs to have a performance like that,
like and and the elbow clearly bothered him in Game six,
and so if he can't shoot better, I think they
could be in trouble.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
All right, Rob, tonight, we got a big game on
starting in about a half an hour, the Knicks at
the Pacers in Indianapolis and his game six.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Nix up three games two.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
This has been a home series, right, the home team
has won all the games. And I do think, Rob,
you picked the Pacers. I initially picked the Knicks in six.
I think I feel now like they will win it
in seven. I feel like you know, I think so.
(10:22):
I think the Pacers get this, Rob. Look the Pacers,
and I know if they lose this series, Look, they
can say we're the sixth seed.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
We weren't even supposed to take them to six or seven.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
But Rob, and they will also say, and these are true,
they will say we're young.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
It will be a building block for us. We had
a great year.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
But Rob, I gotta be honest, and this is with
no disrespect for the Knicks, because I respect them greatly after.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
What they've been doing. Jalen Brunson and crew.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
But Rob, if you're the Pacers, you should win this
series because of the jin to the Knicks. Obviously they're
without Julius Randall and they have been for a while now.
But Mitchell Robinson is out, O Giannanobi is out, and
Jalen Brunton you know, is playing with at least a
foot that's not one hundred percent.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
I know he played great last game, but.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Still, Rob, I'm just saying, in situations like this, Rob,
you should win this series. The Knicks aren't your typical
two seed right where there to be feared, and their
talent is above most everybody else.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
In the league.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
No, and so Indiana.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Rob. Also they can say to make themselves feel good,
hey we're young.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Oh we'll be back.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
You know, this is just the first time we were
growing from this. But Rob, guess who's gonna be around
next year assuming there aren't injuries? Milwaukee, Philadelphia, right, Miami?
Speaker 4 (11:57):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Like this was a unique here and that's why I
Rob quickly, Boston better win the East, like it's not
gonna ever be any easier. And Rob, yeah they do too,
but I'm.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Knowing the East and they gotta do it the broken
up kidding.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
And if you're the Knicks and you win this series, Rob, you,
I think they will.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Give Boston some some headaches. Yeah, I think six.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Yeah, I don't think that they'll beat them, though I
agree that they It won't be a four game sweep.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
The Celtics just aren't of that ilk right just.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
For them, for them, For the Knicks to beat Boston, Rob,
Boston would have to beat itself.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
They have to have like a couple of nights where
they don't make threes. We saw it, Chris, what was
the night that they didn't make threes? You know, when
you when you when you lose like that, And that's
what we've seen in the postseason. I don't know, I
mean it seems like it's more than the not Chris,
when those bad you know, we see the lopsided playoff game.
(13:00):
We never use to see like such lopsided playoff can
would you.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Agree with that?
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Like not like we've seen are like last night, we
didn't see games like that. We loached by forty five
in a playoff game.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
In a close out, right possible close out.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
I mean outside of the Knicks, Rob, there most of
these games have been blowouts.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
If I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
And again, Rob, the NBA is gonna need to look
at all of this stuff because even Robed in a
close series where it goes six or seven, if every
or let's say five of the seven games are blowouts,
that's not good even though it's competitive as a series overall,
(13:44):
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
But the games are bad to watch, like they were
there nights that you just turn it off, Chris, cause
it's just it's.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
And we've seen it.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
There was a Patiers blowout of the Knicks one night, right, Yeah,
there have been a few.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Yeah. They you don't want, no, you want closer games.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Look, Laker's Nuggets was actually exciting even though it was
only five games, because most of those games were close,
a relatively close. So all right, Rob, But here's the
question I want to ask you. Because we had Carrie
Kittles on last night. We lovet Carrie, mad respect for him,
but a terrible take. This take was almost as bad,
(14:22):
well not really, but still it was within I don't know,
spinning distance.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Of the take that Caitlin.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Clark, who's averaging a robust fourteen points, and then she would.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Do better, she would do bettera she would do better
than the NBA and the WNBN because of the WNBA
did let him play defense ahead.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
I gotta say something.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Carrie told us that Jalen Brunson right now. Obviously not historically,
but Jalen Brunson is better than Kevin Durant and you
and I of course shot that down.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
But you got Harry Kittles talking about.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Brunson is better than Durant, my partner on first things First,
Nick Wright has Rick Jalen Brunson in club superstar. Others
Rob are calling him a superstar. You and I have
held fast and no because Chris slowdown. How many superstars
do they think is in the NBA? Is Donovan Mitchell
(15:23):
the superstar?
Speaker 4 (15:24):
I think is better than right?
Speaker 1 (15:27):
But if we don't call him a superstar, Chris, he's
a star. There's a difference between a star and a superstar.
To me, there's only a handful of superstars. How many
guys are walking around forty superstars?
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Everybody on every team? Well, look there are different critter. You.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
I think you and Rob g go about five or
six deep. I might go ten twelve deep deep. I
put right, I put no, no, no, I'll tell you
I don't go deep enough to have Brunton in there, right,
I could go deep enough to have Mitch. I think
Mitchell is a superstar or better than a higher on
the list than Brunson. But let me ask you, this,
(16:09):
is there anything Jalen Brunson can do this season to
make you think he's a superstar?
Speaker 1 (16:18):
No, because I know, and I'm gonna just say it,
not even win the championship. Chris First, I would take
a look at his path to the championship and how
weak it was. I would look at that and say,
this is an outlier, this is a fluke. I would
and that's no disrespect to what he did, Chris none.
I want people to understand I'm not dissing him, right,
(16:41):
but I would look at that. Superstar status is more
than just winning a championship. It just like you just
can't win a championship out of nowhere and then oh
he's a superstar and that's the end of it.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
It's more than that.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
To me.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
It's like people look at you no matter know what, Chris,
you're the You're you're that guy, no matter who joins
the team, no matter who's on the court. You know,
like a lot of stuff that would go into it,
not just strictly you wan a team and they won
a championship that year.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Oh yeah, you're a superstar and that's it for your career. No.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
No, When I think about superstars Lebron, Steph KD like,
like they've won finals, MVP, they want m vps right.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Now and Lebron's losing. Now, You're not taking away their
super No, and and and where's the where's the where's
the m v P that Bruntson won?
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Chris Like, seriously, Yeah, which signified you're one of the
greatest players in the league.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
That doesn't that isn't that what m VP does? Yeah,
he was fifth this year is credit. But like, look,
I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
I just do not feel in my bones that Jayalen
Brunson is a superstar. And look, if they were to
somehow win this championship beat a healthy Denver team or
Minnesota or whoever Dallas comes out of the West, beat
Boston and he's putting up forty or thirty five to
(18:20):
forty a night like he has been, I mean, I
would feel compelled to say okay, but I do think
I don't know if I feel comfortable saying it. I
might have to just give it to him because it's like,
look at what he did, but I don't know that I.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Feel comfortable with it, Rob, And this is what it is.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
You remember little Isaiah Thomas Robbed with the Celtics, he
finished fourth in MVP voting. I remember absolutely get paid
Chris West games yup led him to the Eastern Conference finals.
No one was saying he was a superstar. And my
thing with Brunson, Rob is even a year ago, he
(19:06):
was not the best player on his team, on a
on a mediocre team, and you can say, well, he
really was better than than Julius Randall. Julius Randall is
the one that made the All Star Brunson didn't. Julius
Randall is the one who was third team All NBA.
Brunson was not All of the NBA.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Rob. I can't go from you were a.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Role player for the first four years of your career,
never made an All Star team in the first five
years of your career, to all of a.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Sudden, in one fell swoop, you're a superstar.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
What I would have to see from me because I
don't even think them winning the championship is realistic.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
No, I mean crazy right.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
But let's say they go out in six games to
Boston and he continues to play well. Rob, what I
would have to see from him to say he's like
a superstar is next season he comes out and is doing,
you know, like this year twenty seven, twenty eight points
a game, seven dimes and the Knicks sorry a factor.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
I don't mean.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Because everybody's hurt right in the East. I mean like
they're fifty five wins. Remember how Chicago was with Derrick Rose.
It was like, oh they could, they might win the championship.
Like that, I would the Knicks would have to be
like an elite team and he is carrying them next
year for me to say okay, and I don't even
(20:39):
know if he does all that, Rob, I don't necessarily
have to wait till the playoffs. If he was averaging
twenty eight and seven and I know people say, well, wow,
those are crazy now, but you know, twenty seven and
seven something like that leading the Knicks the clear best player.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
They're fifty five wins.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
They're on the same tier as Boston and Milwaukee and
Philly when they're healthy, like they're right there. Then I'll say, okay, dude,
look he's this is the.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Second third great, third, very good year.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
For him, second spectacular, the year he's carrying his team
to elite levels. Something like that would have to happen
before I'm ready to say, Okay.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
He's grown into a superstar. But we're ways away from that.
I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
I just think it's too premature, too prisoner of the moment.
And I get it, you're a Nick fan. They haven't
won anything in the gazillion years. That's a big part.
If he was in Sacramento with people being prist, That's
that's what it's all about. Like they just can't get
over like the Knick's irrelevant. It's almost June. Oh wow,
(21:48):
we haven't like we haven't turned off focus to the Yankees, right,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (21:52):
But like that's really one of these and New York dominates.
I look at the talk shows, rob they got like
Nick's Common Show. No, it's of course they're gonna be
like pubbing the Knicks, and and you know.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
New York is a basketball town, Chris, when the Knicks
were good, you know that you covered the Knicks, Madison
Square Guard and the whole thing. There's no doubt about it.
So people are there. They want this team to be good,
and I'm and I get all that, but I'm sorry,
I just think this is way overblown and it's no
disrespect to him.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
Rob G come in here. We just had Jared Goff
get paid. They didn't have to pay him.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
They could have let him play play it out another year,
but they went ahead and extended him. It is the
season for that. Trevor Lawrence with the Jacksonville Jaguars, well,
he get paid. There are a few other guys out there,
like Tua, Jordan Love, Rob G kind of paint the picture.
We want to focus on those to Jordan Love in
Green Bay to a tongue of old viol Valola in Miami.
(23:10):
Robb G tell us kind of summarize their situations as
Rob and I get into it.
Speaker 6 (23:14):
Well, the situation is there's not a whole lot going
on with either guy because according to several different reports,
First off, with Jordan Love, ESPN's Adam Shefter is plugged in.
As anyone reported earlier, this week that while both sides
are expected to continue talking. Yeah, I don't want to
say it, didn't want to say it. Well, there's supposed
to be the two sides that will continue talking here
(23:34):
throughout the offseason. They are not anywhere close to get
an extension done with Jordan Love. That's for a number
of reasons, the biggest one being that he's only started
for one season and he's only really played well for
half of that, so there is some kind of confusion
at both sides to what the appropriate number would be. Obviously,
Jordan Love wants to get paid top of the market's.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Coming off that even the way that he plays like
that's the one of your his agent, that's Jordan Love
right there. To see what he did in Dallas and
and well wait, we didn't. We didn't see that all year.
Let's keep it real.
Speaker 6 (24:07):
And Green Bay obviously it was a little hesitant. So
that's number one on the flip side down south in Florida.
In Miami, twa Tongue of Iloa has played very well
actually the last two seasons. Unfortunately, last year he almost
had to retire due to concussion issues. This season, he
played the entire year, which is a big step for him,
but as we've well documented, struggled against the good teams
(24:29):
and struggled in cold weather. So according to CBS Sports, Tua,
who has been one of the forefront guys in the
offseason as the quarterback, is a very strong leader, has
usually always led a lot of OTAs and player workouts
things of that nature. According to CBS, though, he's missed
most of the voluntary OTAs this offseason. As the two
(24:51):
sides are trying to negotiate a new contract again, he
would like to be paid near the top of the
market the Dolphins, given his injury history, given his you know,
struggles against some of the better competition, are as in
to do that. So both sides are kind of at
a staleman right now with you got me, Kinikan. Here's
the questions are, were you, Chris, of the two Jordan
Love and Tua talk about LOA, which one would you
(25:13):
feel more comfortable extending right now?
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Well, honestly, I wouldn't want to extend either right now.
Just keeping it real, Like you said, Jordan Love is
only he was phenomenal and that's not an overstatement over
the second half of the season, all right, he just was.
He was great, and obviously in that playoff game against Dallas,
you couldn't ask for more. Right, you go into Dallas
(25:39):
where they were sixteen and one over the last you know,
two years at home, and obviously they're the heavy favorite.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
You're leading the youngest team in.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
To make the playoffs in like fifty some odd years,
and you go in there and you get that w
So he was great over the second half of the season.
As I said, right his last what is it? Let's
see his last like nine games or something like that.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
What is it? Roger?
Speaker 6 (26:12):
It was like, here's the stat that his agent is
pimping out to anyone who would listen, including ESPN dot com. Accordingly,
over the final eight regular season games, eighteen touchdowns, one interception,
the team was six and two.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
Yeah, Aaron Rodgers type's numbers.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
All right, that said, it's a half a year, and
I would want to see more Tua. My tune hasn't
changed on him. He's had one fully healthy season. Now
he has one when he's played. I will give him
that credit in that respect. But he's had one fully
(26:50):
healthy season and that was last year. And even in
last year, they beat up on a bunch of tomato Cans.
They were one in six against playoff teams. They He's
never won a game, and forget cold weather a tad
brisky all right, forty five degrees and under. He ain't winning,
(27:14):
or at least he hasn't yet ever in his career.
And in most seasons, you're gonna have to win in
some cold.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Frigid weather to reach a Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
And so again because of the health concerns, because I still,
you know, I want to see how we do against
some of the better things. I'm not putting it all
on him, but he's a part of it, a good
part of it. I want to see another year. And
I'm not mad at too it for kind of okay,
you know, I'm gonna do with things a little differently now.
(27:46):
Put a little heat on y'all. I'm not mad at
him for that, because he should try to get the contract.
I'm just saying, if I'm the Dolphins, I am not
completely completely sold on him yet and so I wouldn't
pay either. But if I gotta pick one, I would
pick This is gonna probably surprise you rout because he
(28:07):
does have the lesser track record as far as time.
I would pick Jordan Love my eye test likes love better.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
That's me. My eye test likes love better.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
I think two of armstrength is a little in question,
and then of course there's the health issues durability.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
So yeah, if I have to pay one, it would
be Jordan love.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yeah, I disagree, and I think two of last year
that was the big year for me staying healthy all
year or some of the other stuff. I mean, we
could take a look talk about the cold weather and
what the what the record is.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
He's not the only one plan.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
I don't know in those games, Chris, did the defense
give up forty points?
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Do we know what the scores one of those games?
Speaker 1 (28:53):
I mean, so I can't really look at that and
just say it's only on him as a twenty two
guys plan. So the Jordan loved, it's just a small
sample size. At the beginning of the Seeds in the
first half of the season, there were people saying, we
don't know what we got here. Maybe that's why the
people were saying, no wonder the Packers didn't want to
(29:14):
extend him because they didn't know what they had, and
early on they were those bad games, and he did
catch fire at the end, but you never know I'd
have to take a look at some of the competition
in some of those games where they beating the bed Bears,
beating some other teams. I don't know what the schedule
was Chris at that point, but I do think that
(29:37):
last year for me, it was tour durable. Can he
stay healthy? Were they winning games? And we know the
seventy point fluke, whatever you want to call it, it
was just one of those eye opening moments where you
saw we've seen him have the comeback ability two years
ago when they came back against Baltimore on the road
and what was the other game? That one other game
(29:58):
where the Furious come back as well. So there's some
things that I really like. And once you gave him
some big receivers and stuff, he was able to make
make things happen. So, you know, could he get hurt,
Sure he could. You know that that's just something that
you're gonna have to roll the dice with. But it
had he been hurt at all last year, Chris, or
(30:20):
he didn't have the whole season, you know what I mean,
then then I would really pause.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
I would I would be more.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Uh, I would be more frightened to sign him to
a longer turn.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
One one healthy season out of four is good enough
for there coming.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
That is the most recent one, not that it was
the first one. I mean, if you're telling me, out
of the two, who would I pick, I'm just saying
I would. I would pick Tua because Jordan Love just
his body of work isn't long enough for me.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
But you're ready, like so are you and me?
Speaker 3 (30:55):
And that you would rather not like ideally you're not
re signing either.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
No, no, no, no, you're ready to sign to Yeah. And
here's the other thing with the Jordan, which to me
speaks volumes. It really does, because we talk about this
all the time. The price only goes up, right, it
only goes up. So if they really after watching him
for four years as a backup and in practice, and
(31:21):
it's different from a game, Chris, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
But you get to see more of him, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
You've watched him, and you watched him and at that
point they could have come up with a deal that
he would have gladly signed, you know, without big money,
because you're giving it to him before he even plays
that first full season, you know what I mean, Like,
if you really were like this guy, is good. We
know he is, and if he stays healthy, we know
(31:48):
what we got. Something you pay him because he'll take
less money on an unproven year.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
You know, on no before the season, like they had
a chance. I don't think they paid him before the season. No,
I'm just saying didn't know. If they didn't know, and
that's what I mean, they didn't know. Yeah, but I
hear you. I Look, Jordan Love's not in a really
bad situation. Neither of them is, because I get it.
They want security, right and they should. It's football. I mean,
(32:16):
you could get injured any point.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
And that's why I'm not mad at toa either with
the stuff, because you go there and get.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Hurt, now what you know what I mean, like like Riot.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
But that's why if I'm the Dolphins, I wouldn't give
it to him.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
But I hear you. I mean I think he's doing
you know, I'm not mad at his strategy, but yeah, Rob,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
Look if they don't sign Jordan Loves this year and
he plays ninety percent of the way he did in
the second half of that last season, and he look.
People are expecting big things from Green Bay, as they should.
They're gonna he's going to benefit. I mean, Green Bay's
gonna have to anty up and give the dude big money.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
So you know, he's got to go out there. And
he's not in a terrible situation as long as he
stays healthy. But to a rob see to me the thing.
And again it's partly the health, but not just like
I need to see him. And we talked.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
We used to talk about this with Dak Rob what
he do against the good teams and to a last season,
roped ten and one against losing teams. They averaged thirty
five points a game, and his numbers.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
That's a lot of games against losing teams. I mean,
right as eleven of their games. But if he had
a bad record against them, that's what I would, But
I like.
Speaker 4 (33:35):
A few wins against some good teams. He's won.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
He was one in six against teams with a winning record,
and he scored just sixteen points a game, and his
numbers went way down. Touchdown interception ratio, plummeted yards per game,
passer rating, They all plummeted against the top competition. And
that was our concern with Dak for a lot of years,
(33:59):
like well, he's beating up on these bad teams, But
how is he looking against the really good teams. I
got the same questions about Tua, and I would not
be in a rush to lock him up because look,
team and this. They signed these guys well before the
stage we're at now with Tua. But Carson Wentz Jared Goff,
(34:21):
which the Rams ended up, you know, at least in
their minds, regretting obviously they traded him contract. No, No,
I don't you and I think golf is better than the.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
Rams, do you know?
Speaker 1 (34:33):
But I'm just saying I thought that wasn't right.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Yeah, they felt like it. Look they it worked out
for him. They got a Super Bowl out of staff.
But we've seen guys get the contract Kyler Murray, right,
You and I both were like, ain't no way.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
I thought that was premature, especially Chris. Remember that playoff
game he came off of. I was just like wow.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
And then the stuff on his part right to get
he powered him in the sign he pound him like crazy.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
The only thing here was to of last year led
the league in pass in four thousand, six hundred and
twenty four yards, ranked top five Chris and completions, touchdowns
and first down so he has some numbers that can
put out.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Terrific weapons, and a really good play caller and head
coaching Mike McDaniel. I'm not saying this, it's saying I
never pay him, but I just want to see more.
I haven't seen enough, and you know, we'll see what
each of them does this season.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
But I would take love, you would take two of
