Okay, so I was You've been there. That's a college town,
big college Austin, right, I need.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
To have But I haven't been there.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
You need to have.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
That's one place I have not been. I want to
check out Austin, Texas.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
The brisket is good, the food is good. Yeah, it's
it's fun. I enjoy it. It's not my favorite through
I think La is better, of course, but it's really hot.
I stepped out the plane and I was sweating buckets
like one minute in Wes phenomenal.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Texas, Chris, you know that at certain places in the
summer you could have it, like, right, I say, Louis Steveniana,
Louisiana from crazy here, can't even go outside?
Speaker 2 (04:12):
All right, Well, let's get get this party started.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Rob and last night a lot of it took place
while we were on the air.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
The Boston Celtics go up too oh over.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
The Indiana Pacers spread two obviously, yes, obviously won by
sixteen points, and they're now up too oh on the Pacers,
and Rob, I think this is over, not just because
they're up to oh. In fact, if they were just
up too oh, I really wouldn't say it's I mean, look,
(04:46):
we both thought Boston's gonna I mean I had no
doubt Boston's gonna win this series, So I, in a
sense thought it was over from the start. But I'm
not just saying it's done because it's two oh or
because they're better. I'm saying it's done because Tyres Halliburton,
the best player for the Pacers, is now questionable. He
(05:08):
had to leave last night's game with a hamstring injury.
He's questionable for Game three and probably further on with
the sore hamstring. So do you agree that this thing
is over? And you said it it's the story of
this year's playoffs?
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Yeah, just the postseason. I mean I never said series
is over. Like, uh, so you get you still give
Indian a chance to win this? No, I give them
a chance to make it a series, win a couple
of games, but not win the no. I picked Boston
in six, so I'm sticking with that pick. But it
does not just mean they can win a few games.
They can win a game with two, but can they
(05:47):
winning the series. I don't believe they can win the series.
I don't think it's going to automatically a four games.
We've seen this before where a team is missing a player. Yeah, yeah,
and Chris, they come out, put together something effort, or
the other team takes them lightly right and they win
a game or so. But yeah, I don't know how
they can do it without Halliburton. I mean, he's a
(06:08):
tremendous player. He's their spark plug. And it's a shame.
And like I said, it's what we've seen all postseason
with all these injuries, and it's never some seldom used
backup chus like the biggest star on the team. It's
like like, like, that's what's crazy. People get hurt, but
(06:30):
the biggest stars just just time and time again. Is
so frustrating.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, and it has been unlike any other postseason. There's
always been injuries, but this year without quite and we
don't have data to back it up around.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
I can't I.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Cannot remember a postseason where almost it seemed like more
than half of the teams lost their best player. Let's
see Milwaukee without Giannis eventually, I mean New York they
didn't lose their best player, but they were so banged
(07:07):
up it was ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
And he got hurt at the end of this you
know series in game seven.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
But you can count them just because the number of injuries,
right O Gion and Nobe, Mitchell, Robbinson. That's not even
counting Julius Randalls, who was a long time so they're
there now Indiana. Miami was without Jimmy Butler. Cleveland was
without you know in parts of it series with Baltimon
with Boston, Donovan, Mitchell and Jared Allen two all stars.
Speaker 8 (07:36):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
It was more so the East rob than the West
for for some reason. But even in the West, the
Clippers didn't have Kawhi and this is it's just been incredible.
And then there's guys playing through injury like Luca uh
and a few others.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
But he's had some games where he wasn't one.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
You look at the Celtics path Rob Miami. They beat
them in five Jimmy Butler didn't play at all. Cleveland
they beat in five, and Donovan Mitchell missed a few games.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Jared Allen I think missed the whole series.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
Did he at all? I didn't realize.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
I don't think he played at all.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
I'll check it out to make sure, but I don't
think he played at all. And then and now I
should say Indiana rob is without its best player and
we'll see when he comes back. But Rob to me obviously,
and I don't think there's gonna be any issue of them. Yeah, yeah,
(08:36):
Jared Allen missed the whole series for Cleveland. They're going
to win this series without question. And now Rob.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
I think it.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Adds to the pressure for them to go ahead and
absolutely win the championship.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
I think the pressure was already high.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I think when they started the season it was championship
or bust. I think when Denver went down, Denver's the
one team that people would have been.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Like, hey, they lost to Denver. You gotta give them credit.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
They lost to Denver and Golden State, right, two champions
with older players, veterans who's still in their prime. You
can't really slight the Celtics for that. But once Denver
was eliminated. Now you've got a Minnesota team that is
led by a twenty two year old. You've got a
Dallas team that's led by a twenty five year old.
(09:32):
And so now Rob, and on top of that, throw
in the fact that now you could give they sweep
and maybe they won't. Maybe it'll go five. But if
they sweep Indiana or whenever they get rid of them, Rob,
if they sweep them, they can have as much as
they gotta have, like ten days rest. If they don't,
(09:55):
it'll still be seven or eight. And maybe we'll see
how this series in the West goes. But this one
could go seven. This one could be a barn burner.
And so that gives the Celtics time for their censor,
Chris Stafsworzingis, who is important for them. Gives him time
to rest and get healthy. I don't even have to
play him this series, and then you are ready, you
(10:16):
are rested and ready for the Dallas Mavericks or the
Minnesota Timberwolves. So to me, Rob, it just ratchets up
the pressure even more on Boston to win.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I mean, I think they had pressure anyway, but I
hear you know what you've laid out. I just think
that they've knocked on the door. They've had a good team,
they've had the best record in the league. There's all
these things that have piled up at some point, and
they've heard all of the other stuff. And I think,
actually that they will win the championship. Really yeah, I do.
(10:49):
I think they'll beat the team coming from the.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
West, just because the first time you've said that, I've.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Changed my mind on them, because I Chris, you're right
first time.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
So you you had picked Denver and in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
I think, right, yeah, And I'm starting to think that
this could line up nicely for them, especially if you
have a big series out west. You know what I mean,
like a big series O West.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
You see Anthony Edwards already showing some.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Fatigue right right, there's something there and banged up. And
here's the other thing, Chris, I just think they they
have experience, like they have, they have some experience going
for him. I was like, Jalen Brown comes up big.
We know what kind of player he is. Tatum in
(11:38):
that first game in uh overtime, Chris, we know his
his struggles with clutch moments, and you know what I mean,
making big baskets. I was impressed that was he could
have easily missed that he had a bad fourth quarter.
And what did he do bounce back in overtime? Like
that's what you want from you? Give me another chance,
you know what I mean? You open the door. Okay,
(12:00):
I'm gonna make you pay this time because I didn't.
I failed in the fourth quarter. So I'm looking at
those things. It ain't like talent wise, those other two
teams in the West are heading shoulders and they got
no shots. I'm with you. If it's Denver, I'm all
the way in on Denver. If Denver was coming out
(12:21):
of the West, Chris, I've been there experience. I like
the team. I like the joker, I like the team
concept that they have. I like Mike Malone. Okay, that's
easy for me. I'm starting to look at Boston as
maybe the tea leaves are aligning, Chris. Maybe the big,
big bad wolf out west with these two teams, after
(12:43):
they knock each other off for whoever, you know, it's
left standing, it's beatable.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
They're not feel differently.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
If and I don't think this is going to happen,
But let's say Dallas sweat Minnesota. Would you feel differently
because they will get the finals are starting when the
fine it'll start. It's not gonna you know, if you're
out rob It's not based on how right. So they're
getting you know, if they both swept, they might get
both get about a week off.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
If not right, that's the only thing that's good and bad.
And I understand it's set up. It'll be a long week.
That's a long stretch at right for basketball especially you
used to playing this time of the year every other night.
But I get it. I mean it's all for TV,
and it's all lined up and they have the finals
locked in on the schedule, on the TV schedule, So
I get it. But yeah, you know, I would look
(13:31):
at Dallas differently if they if they you said if Dallas.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
If they swept, Yeah, if they swept.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
If they swept. But I don't think they'll sweep Minnesota.
And I think there'll be a battle six games. Could
it go seven? Maybe? And I just think Boston, for
all that they've been through, Chris and all of the like,
they have a pattern bad games. You look at them
and you go, oh, I just don't have Then they
come right back like after that game when I came
(13:56):
right back, sixteen point win, dominant win, did what they
had to do. And if they can do that again
and take one out of two in Indiana, come back
and wrap it up, that would be exactly what you
would want from them. So I'm gonna for the first time,
I'm moving towards Boston winning the championship.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Look, I'm not mad at you. I'm not mad at
that prediction.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
It did cross my mind today that because I've been saying,
if it's Minnesota Boston, I'm definitely taking Minnesota. If it's
Dallas Boston, I'll see how I feel, you know, starting
in the finals. But yeah, I look and even if
it's Minnesota, I mean, Boston, we've been hard on them
(14:39):
because they won sixty four games. They have nights when
they just upset, upset and exasperate you, right, and it
like what world are they doing?
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Right? But excuse me?
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Overall they they're playing very good basketball. And again, Rob,
I mean, you talk about a light trek to the final,
so well, it could have been a fit them. But
I'm I'm right now, I feel like I'll take the
West winner, and I've picked Minnesota to win it all.
I'll stick with them for now, But no, I'm not.
I don't think that's a terrible take. I don't think
(15:11):
that's a terrible take because, like you said, they're all young.
They're all young, and Dallas is prone to have some
bad We saw Kyrie last series wasn't offensively great.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Right, Yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Nine point and Anthony Everards, Rob has you know, he's
had some forty point games and then some nineteen point
games and shooting poorly from the field.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
So cat same way. So no, that that's fair, all right?
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox is Boston? Is

Speaker 4 (17:45):
All right, let's kick it off with Stephen and Sacramento.
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Steven?
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (17:54):
Happy Friday fellas YouTube buddy. Hey, So, just I can't
buy into Boston, mainly because they just seem to melt
under the lights of the finals. But they just don't
got the defense to stats and anybody that comes out
of the West, they got the defense that can kind
(18:14):
of slow him down and shut him down. I don't
think it'd be like a sweep or anything, but I
just don't see him getting it done in the final.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Well, their defense is not bad.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
I mean, obviously they've they've played at the pace of
Indiana in this series and again they are up too.
Oh but this season, defensively, they actually were third in defense.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
Chris, they played better, didn't they? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, I mean you got Derek White, who's an All
League defender, and Drew Holliday, who is you.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Know, helped them coming from Milwaukee, and what a Milwaukee
miss Chris drew.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
High exactly and no doubt. And then Chris that even
rim protected to some degree, you know.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
Right, and then that's the other part.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Yeah, they got to the gonna be defense if they
don't win it, right.
Speaker 10 (19:02):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (19:03):
C J in Florida, you're in the couple of Fox
Sports Radio. Florida is a big state. Where are you?
Speaker 5 (19:08):
C J?
Speaker 10 (19:09):
Plantation? Man?
Speaker 8 (19:11):
Oh good, I'm glad.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
I'm glad you didn't say that, Plantation.
Speaker 10 (19:16):
But guess what I'm gonna make you some shackles, rob
All right, let me know, the NBA champion is going
to be from the East. It doesn't matter where they's
Indiana or Box.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Exact.
Speaker 10 (19:30):
I'm gonna drop something on you right now. Listen, No
NBA champion has come out of the Western Conference in
the presidential year other than the Lakers. And the Lakers
are not in the finals.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
So that is crazy, you know, you know what's crazy?
What's crazy?
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Ever?
Speaker 10 (19:55):
Ever, when it was there's the Association of America for
one time and that was in the NBA, the NBA
satured went nineteen the air whatever, Yeah, that thing because
the championships.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
But the Lakers have won so many championships.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
I wonder how many you know how many the Lakers
championships were in were in president.
Speaker 10 (20:22):
Yeah, twenty eighty eight, two thousand, look it up.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
But they won a lot of championship.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
But that I mean, and here, Rob, think about it,
the Bulls dominated CJKA.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I mean, it's fine, but yeah, that's not gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
That ain't gonna be the reason why Indiana ain't winning it.
Boston could Indiana's not winning it. Yeah, I mean, they're
not gonna get there, but it would be quits if
they got to the NBA finals, they put on a
miracle and the biggest choke job in the history of NBA.
That's what it would have to take in order to
get there. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox if
(21:00):
you want to jump in or.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
All right, well we got Rob, we we got our man,
Steve the Sega coming up with the updates, and then
Carrie Rhoads new Fox Sports Radio Weekend hosts of course
for We're all pro safety in the NFL. And he
likes talking NBA too, so well, yeah, he's the biggest
Dallas Mavericks fan. I think, yes, I'm almost positive.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
I got a lot to talk with Carrie about that.
But first Steve the saga with the update.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
Steve, gentlemen, do it. Okay, are you working Monday like
Chris and I.
Speaker 7 (21:35):
I Am gonna work Monday, but just to show after you,
they said what so yes, I will be working Monday, okay,
but not what else. But you guys will be working.
Speaker 4 (21:44):

Speaker 2 (21:45):

be working all day.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
I'm proud of you, Chris. I know I'm trying. You know,
I was gonna say I had but I got I
got nothing. I know it will be never we're.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Going to say I never miss you on telling.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
Yeah, there you go, miss.
Speaker 7 (22:06):

think of seventy dollars for a twenty four pack of
die Co. That's what they were charging the government.
Speaker 7 (23:47):
Yes, yeah, Dick Cheney right, remember that, Chris, seriously, Steve
and I misquoting.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
Wasn't it like seventy seventy five dollars for twenty four pack?
Speaker 7 (23:55):
Yeah, it was one of those defense contracts with the
seventy five thousand dollars wrench and yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
I'm crazy. All right?
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Thank you Steve for Live from the tie right dot

Speaker 2 (24:21):
And it's been a long time.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
He's to me now to fill in for you, Chris.
I mean, I got carried a lot. He's doing it.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Get that weekend slot.
Speaker 8 (24:32):
There's been a blessing. I got that weekend spot steeling
in for you, Chris. So I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Nah, that's great, man, well deserved, well deserved. Look before
and you we know you're a big Mavericks fan, But
before we get to that, you I have heard word
on the streets is that you were nice in hoop
in high school. Now I got I heard that from you,
but still, well that's the world on the street. You
(25:03):
were a great high school basketball player point guard, right,
and you know that There's been this big debate about.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Oh because some NFL players play in the NBA and
vice versa.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
First of all, tell me you do you think maybe
even had you maybe had you stayed with basketball and
chosen that over football, do you think you could have
made it to the NBA? And what about just the
whole league? Do you think there were or there are
a number of guys that could make that switch.
Speaker 8 (25:34):
Yeah, it's just hard because of the numbers, man. I mean,
that's really what it boiled down too far as far
as NFL guys going to the NBA, do they have
the talent if they stayed in that sport. Yeah, there's
there's I'm sure there's there's quite a few people that
couldn't make that jump, But it's a numbers game. So
at the end of the at the end of the day, technically,
Austin Rivers would be correct. There's not a lot of
(25:56):
football players that could make a roster. It's just not
a lot of spots as far as the talent. As
far as the talent goes, I could I have made
it absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Was football your best sport or basketball? Like, why did
you choose football?
Speaker 8 (26:12):
Yeah? Basketball was my best sport, and you know I
was you know, when I went to Louisville, I was
going there to play both sports. And so after after
my first year of football, I read shirted. So I
was a guy that had to put on weight. I
put on my weight during the season and I went
out with Denny Kram and the guys with basketball, and
that first season I lost all the weight. So I
(26:33):
just couldn't hold the weight. So I had to make
a decision. And then I just felt that numbers wise,
I had a greater chance of making it to the NFL,
and that's what I chose.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Wow, was Louisville.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
I mean it's obviously a good program in football, but
basketball is like one of the tops.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
So that means you were really Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
I don't know who said it, but I thought I
thought the Charlie Ward thing was a trump card. Dude
who said that? Somebody did?
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Was that on our show rib Or No, I think
I heard it on. It was on one of the ESPN's.
But I thought I thought Austin Rivers.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Yeah, Carry, I thought that was a trump carter just
a little bit, you know, like he was a Heisman
Trophy winner.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
So he did play basketball at Florida State too, You
remember was him could.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Sell and Bobby Syr.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Yeah, but I'm just saying I thought that was a
good argument for you know what I mean. I just
thought it was good. All right. Carry, Let's let's talk
about your Dallas Mavericks. And I know you're a Mavericks fan,
and not just yeah, not just yesterday or last week. No,
he's been a Mavericks fan.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
That was a big impressive Game one. And when you
talk about the dynamic duo that they have, one guy
came in big early, one guy came in late. That's
that's a good winning combination. How surprised were you to
they were able to get Game one?
Speaker 8 (27:57):
Surprised? Not at all, Rob, I mean, I mean, Dallas
is gonna win this win this series in six at
the most UH Minnesota Minnesota, they emptied their cliff on Denver,
and you know, they were they were built to beat Denver.
They're the former g The GM that went over to
UH Minnesota was the former GM over in Denver. So
(28:17):
I mean he built that team with that in mind.
And you know, I mean they had multiple bigs that
could give you know, the joker a few problems here
and there, and I think at the end of the day,
it wore. It wore a joker down. And so I
think they just board all their energy and all the
time and all their efforts until winning that series. And
now they got to bounce back and play a Dallas
(28:37):
Mavericks team, which is you know, been trending up since
they all star breaking. They found the chemistry and they
have a team that I mean, if they I really seen,
they can really win the championship this year. This isn't
like a fluke thing for them. They're they're they're built
to win.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Now, yeah, I've got Minnesota in this series, but obviously
Dallas is gonna be a hard five.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Serious but do you I was gonna ask you.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
How do you like the Dallas Because we know Boston's
coming out of the East. So how do you like
their matchup with the Celtics.
Speaker 8 (29:07):
You know what, Boston, Boston is the favorite still out
of all the teams, and I think I think they
should be.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
They really should be the favorite. Yep.
Speaker 8 (29:14):
Hey, I think a lot of people are starting to get,
you know, board with with Boston's success and not being
able to get that final hurdle week and so I
think that's been obviously a lot of the noise right now.
But Boston's ready and you can see it in their face.
I mean, I know they've had some little slip ups
here and there, but I mean we look at that
team and we say Jayson Tatum right away, he is
(29:35):
their best player. But the way Jalen Brown is focused
right now, and the way he's taking on the leadership
role over there, and like I mean literally willing them
to get to get through some of these series. Man,
it's been impressive. And if they can bring back Corzingis,
then he can play it in a game or two
here before the finals, I think they'll be. I think
they'll still be the favorite.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Uh, Carrie. The Lakers are taking their time with a
co JJ Reddick's name has been thrown around. Obviously, to me,
the longer it goes, the more I think he's going
to get the job.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
I really do.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
Where are you on, JJ Reddick on a team that's
supposedly ready to win? Can you can you put in
a novice, a guy who's never coached, to coach Lebron's
last two years?
Speaker 8 (30:22):
You know, I would equate it to And it's not
the same because obviously Tylu had some experience. He was
an assistant for a long time, but again he was
a former player, a guy that really knew the game
and went and coached Lebron in Cleveland and they won
the title. Right, So I guess when you think of,
you know, players or guys that are contemporaries to a
(30:44):
Lebron and somebody like that, it's always a challenge because
Lebron pretty much thinks he can coach himself. And I
think that's the problem with any coach going into that situation.
But for JJ Reddick to going to the Lakers organization
and walk out there and coach and you're expecting to
win in the next in year one of year two,
it's just not going to happen. So for me, I see,
(31:04):
they need to bring somebody with some experience that Lebron.
Lebron could actually acquiesce some of your time, right and
and and and be and be just the player.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
You know.
Speaker 8 (31:14):
I don't think it'd be a good fit.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Yeah, I think when I think of JJ Reddick, I
think of Jeff Saturday. That's what I think of.
Speaker 8 (31:21):
WHOA Saturday?
Speaker 4 (31:23):
That's what I think, Chris, and carry hold on. Chris
and I we thought it was ludicrous and football is different, Chris,
because we talked about it with schemes and all that,
and they were just like, you don't you just need
to be a leader of men and all that.
Speaker 11 (31:38):
After that first game, and after that first game, they
were all like all the players because they wanted to
coach without having to go through you know, like the
coaching tree and and putting in your time as an
assistant and of working your way up.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
So they were hoping that Jeff Saturday was able to
do it. And obviously carry as you saw, it was
a disaster. It was a disaster.
Speaker 8 (31:58):
Yeah. The Jeff Saturday thing was his buddy. I mean,
he gave us buddy a job. And we see that
in every every field of work that we know that's
been you know from every field of works. The man,
that's kind of where it's been. You. You lean to
people that you want to have a drink with, right,
that's the type of thing that happens. But if you're
trying to have.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
More than a drink, Yeah, Chris, do you hear that?
Speaker 2 (32:22):
A few drinks?
Speaker 5 (32:24):
Chris?
Speaker 8 (32:25):
I did not go there.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Well, Carrie, like, look, I disagree with Rob and that.
I think we've seen it in basketball. We've seen Steve Kerr,
we seen Mark Jackson, We've seen Larry Bird, you know,
no coaching experience.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
And have success. I get where Rob's taught, what he's
where he's coming from, but don't you.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Know, I mean, our whole thing was, Man, look you
can do it in basketball, you can do it in
baseball football. I'm sorry, it just say I don't see
how you can have no coaching experience and coaching NFL team.
It just seems I think that's the by far, the
coaches have more of an impact in football than the
(33:07):
other two sports.
Speaker 8 (33:08):
Yeah. Yeah, that's agregious. And I think on any level
of coaching, to have any success, the staff around you
has to be the talent. You know, if you bring it,
if you bring in the staff that's a veteran staff,
a staff that's gonna, you know, be able to cross
all the season, dot all the eyes for you. I
think there can be some success there. But with JJ,
(33:30):
he seems like someone that wants to be in total
control of everything, and I don't think that's a good
recipe for what the Lakers are trying to do.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
And the other thing too, Chris. The only reason I'm
so against JJ is if you have Lebron at his
age right, gonna be forty, you just don't have time
carry the tea to have JJ make mistakes, you know
what I mean, and learn and even you know Steve
Kirk took over the Warriors, Chris, Right, but he had
(33:59):
been in this he had been an assistant, right.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Well, no, he had he had run he had run
the Phoenix Suns.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
Right, he was in the organization. I just think that
that's where if this was a young team and you
had four years carry you know what I mean? I
think I think it's I think it's hard with Lebron
because of the championship. Uh you know clock is ticket
that's and.
Speaker 8 (34:23):
That's one hundred percent correct. I mean, this isn't some
some job where we had time to fail, like you
have to win right away. Obviously. We just saw it
with Darbenham, right, yeah, two years and that's just not
enough time to build any equity as a coach or
a player anyway.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
All right, that's our man, Carrie Rhoades.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
How about that we brother, We appreciate man. Yes, have
a great holiday weekend.
Speaker 8 (34:46):
Brother, Thank you guys. Be safe man, Yeah right.
Speaker 1 (34:50):

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Rob Parker live from the tire Rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
And it's time y'all for shekel City.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
All right, Chris sheckl City. Yesterday, I got the best bet, right,
I had the Celtics minus eight and a half was
two and one. Only game my loss with the Tigers
plus one and a half runs against the Blue Jays.
Here we go for tonight best bet. I got the
Timberwolves minus six and a half Chris, Tonight, I don't
expect them to win lose both games at home. If
(35:55):
they do, I will be surprised. I think they'll cover that.
I think they'll bounce back from Game one. I got
the Yankees have been winning like crazy, but I got
the Padres plus one and a half runs tonight in
San Diego. Big series down there. And also the Phillies
have been winning left and right, Chris, they got the
best record in baseball. They're on the road in Colorado
(36:18):
and Denver taking on the Rockies. I got the Rockies
plus two and a half. Phillies might win, but not
by the two and a half runs. So Rockies plus
two and a half runs, Padres plus one and a
half runs, and the Timberwolves minus six and a half points.
And remember, I'm not telling you who to bet on.
I'm telling you who I bet on.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
Rob Tonight. You think this is a must win for Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
I do.
Speaker 8 (36:44):
I do.
Speaker 4 (36:45):
I just think once you once you fall behind, it's
hard like it's it's not impossible, but it's way harder
once you lose two home games to start and you
gotta win four out of five.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
No, look, it's what happened to Denver, and obviously they
pushed it to seven.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
But still, and it might you don't even know about
all the energy it took you to get back there.
You know how they splat home, the series would have.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
Been over right right now, that's true. I mean you
you exert so much energy just getting back in this series.
We even saw it last year and I wasn't well
it was oh two, but Boston bribe ross the first
three games to Minneso or to Miami, and remember they
won three straight to make it go to a game seven,
and it looked like, okay, they got all the momentum,
(37:27):
they're going to win, and they lost Game seven. Look,
I'm not gonna say absolute must win just because what
I saw from Minnesota against Denver rob was just, I
mean incredible, right like for them, I mean I thought
it was over after they went up too.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Then they lose those three games and you think, okay,
it's over right they.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
Looked dead, yes, and then they win game six going away,
but then Game seven on the road down twenty in
the third quarter to come back.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
And win that.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
I just I won't write them off unless they go
down three to oh. Now, obviously two would be bleak,
right because you're lay like three oh three?
Speaker 8 (38:20):
No, right?
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Oh three is we've never seen the team come back
from oh three And at some point people say, at
some point it'll happen.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
I mean, maybe, does it happen to happen? I don't
think that happened in baseball, and it never happened to Yankees.
You remember in two thousand and that's what Derrek jen
on that team, Mariano Rivera up three Old Chris. They
blow out the Red Sox in Game three in Boston,
like sixteen to seven or like a crazy score, so
(38:49):
you think it's over a laugher, right, They just blew
out the Red Sox in Boston, and the Red Sox
won the next four games.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
I would say, Rob, it's not easy in either sport.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
But I would say I think it would be more
difficult to come back three to zero in basketball than
three to zero in.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Base Yeah, I don't, I don't. I don't disagree, even
though that was the first time it happened in baseball.
But I get it because because pitching is so yeah, pitching,
if you have because it's individual games, Chris, it's not
looked at. You have a good guy, come out, have
a good outing, you know what I mean. The next
game your bats are good, right, so you got two wins,
and the next day something else happened, and the last
(39:28):
game your pitcher pitches a gym and you could win, right.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
And I do think we as fans and media, Rob,
just observers in general, I think we put more into
the momentum during the series than the players.
Speaker 4 (39:45):
Do, like to us.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
And you see this, especially over the last it seems
like Rob ten to fifteen years, it feels like whatever
team won the last game, everybody feels like they're gonna
win it, right, Like, oh they got you know here they.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
Come all the series is over, Minnesota's gonna win.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
Not right, right? If they were, You're right, a lot
of people might.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
Have said Dallas, Dallas winning game one, you know what
I mean?
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Like, right, I bet you got more people now saying
Dallas is gonna win it than you had before that
four days ago.
Speaker 7 (40:17):
Right.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
But I think for players, Rob, I mean, you just
especially at the NBA level.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
You just you are like, man, look, each game is
its own play one game at a time, Right, we
can win.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
We can beat this team and win this game.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
I mean I remember it playing college, Rob, and there
were teams that were much better than us, But I
would go out there feeling like, man, we we can
win this thing, you know, and we might get blasted,
but you go out thinking you can win. And these
guys are the best players in the world NBA, So
I can't imagine that they really ever. I mean, even
(40:58):
if it's a total mismatch, something in them's gotta be saying, look,
all we need is to get this one and then
we get the next one. And so one game, yup,
I got Minnesota tonight. I mean again, I won't say
it's one hundred percent of must win, but yeah, they
need to win. You don't want to go to Dallas
down two. Their coach called them out. Rob said they
(41:19):
weren't ready. I do think there was an emotional hangover.
Look if that, if Day one didn't wake them up,
then what will. So I expect a better performance tonight.
Two hours left locket
